உபாகமம் அத்தியாயம் 3

பின்பு நாம் திரும்பி, பாசானுக்குப் போகிற வழியாய்ப் போனோம்; பாசானின் ராஜாவாகிய ஓக் தன்னுடைய சகல ஜனங்களோடும் நம்மோடே எதிர்த்து யுத்தம்பண்ணும்படி புறப்பட்டு, எத்ரேயிக்கு வந்தான்.

Then we turned, and went up the way to Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் என்னை நோக்கி: அவனுக்குப் பயப்படவேண்டாம்; அவனையும் அவனுடைய ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரையும் அவன் தேசத்தையும் உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தேன்; எஸ்போனிலே குடியிருந்த எமோரியரின் ராஜாவாகிய சீகோனுக்கு நீ செய்தது போல, அவனுக்கும் செய்வாய் என்றார்.

And the LORD said unto me, Fear him not: for I will deliver him, and all his people, and his land, into thy hand; and thou shalt do unto him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.

அப்படியே நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் பாசானின் ராஜாவாகிய ஓகையும் அவனுடைய சகல ஜனங்களையும் நம்முடைய கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; அவனுக்கு ஒருவரும் மீதியாயிராமற்போகுமட்டும் அவனை முறிய அடித்தோம்.

So the LORD our God delivered into our hands Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people: and we smote him until none was left to him remaining.

அக்காலத்திலே அவனுடைய பட்டணங்களையெல்லாம் பிடித்தோம்; அவர்களிடத்தில் நாம் பிடித்துக்கொள்ளாத பட்டணம் இல்லை; பாசானிலிருந்த ஓகின் ராஜ்யமான அறுபது பட்டணங்களுள்ள அர்கோப் தேசம் முழுவதையும் பிடித்தோம்.

And we took all his cities at that time, there was not a city which we took not from them, threescore cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

அந்தப் பட்டணங்களெல்லாம் உயர்ந்த மதில்களாலும் வாசல்களாலும் தாழ்ப்பாள்களாலும் அரணாக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது; அவைகள் அன்றி, மதிலில்லாத பட்டணங்களும் அநேகம்.

All these cities were fenced with high walls, gates, and bars; beside unwalled towns a great many.

அவைகளையும் சங்காரம்பண்ணினோம்; நாம் எஸ்போனின் ராஜாவாகிய சீகோனுக்குச் செய்ததுபோல, அந்த எல்லாப் பட்டணங்களிலுமுள்ள புருஷரையும் ஸ்திரீகளையும் பிள்ளைகளையும் சங்காரம்பண்ணினோம்.

And we utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children, of every city.

ஆனாலும் பட்டணங்களிலுள்ள ஆஸ்தியையும் சகல மிருகஜீவன்களையும் நமக்கென்று கொள்ளையிட்டோம்.

But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, we took for a prey to ourselves.

இப்படியே யோர்தானுக்கு இப்புறத்திலுள்ள அர்னோன் நதிதொடங்கி, எர்மோன் மலைவரைக்குமுள்ள தேசத்தை நாம் அக்காலத்தில் எமோரியருடைய இரண்டு ராஜாக்களிடத்திலுமிருந்து பிடித்தோம்.

And we took at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites the land that was on this side Jordan, from the river of Arnon unto mount Hermon;

சீதோனியர் எர்மோனைச் சீரியோன் என்கிறார்கள்; எமோரியரோ அதைச் சேனீர் என்கிறார்கள்.

(Which Hermon the Sidonians call Sirion; and the Amorites call it Shenir;)

சமனான நாட்டின் எல்லாப் பட்டணங்களையும், கீலேயாத் முழுவதையும், சல்காயி, எத்ரேயி என்னும் பாசானிலிருந்த ஓகுடைய ராஜ்யத்தின் பட்டணங்கள் மட்டுமுள்ள பாசான் முழுவதையும் பிடித்தோம்.

All the cities of the plain, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, unto Salchah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

மீந்திருந்த இராட்சதரில் பாசானின் ராஜாவாகிய ஓக் என்பவன் மாத்திரம் தப்பியிருந்தான்; இரும்பினாற் செய்த அவனுடைய கட்டில் மனிதருடைய கை முழத்தின்படியே, ஒன்பது முழ நீளமும் நாலு முழ அகலமுமாயிருந்தது; அது அம்மோன் புத்திரருடைய ரப்பாபட்டணத்தில் இருக்கிறதல்லவா?

For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of giants; behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon? nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man.

அக்காலத்திலே சுதந்தரமாகப் பெற்றுக்கொண்ட தேசத்தை அர்னோன் நதியருகேயுள்ள ஆரோவேர் தொடங்கி, கீலேயாத் மலைநாட்டில் பாதியையும், அதிலிருக்கிற பட்டணங்களையும், ரூபனியருக்கும் காத்தியருக்கும் கொடுத்தேன்.

And this land, which we possessed at that time, from Aroer, which is by the river Arnon, and half mount Gilead, and the cities thereof, gave I unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites.

கீலேயாத்தின் மற்றப் பங்கையும், ஓகின் ராஜ்யமாயிருந்த பாசான் முழுவதையும், மனாசேயின் பாதிக் கோத்திரத்துக்குக் கொடுத்ததும் அன்றி, இராட்சததேசமென்னப்பட்ட பாசானுக்குள்ளான அர்கோப் சீமை யாவையும் கொடுத்தேன்.

And the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, being the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, with all Bashan, which was called the land of giants.

மனாசேயின் குமாரனாகிய யாவீர் அர்கோப் சீமை முழுவதையும் கேசூரியர் மாகாத்தியர் என்பவர்களுடைய எல்லைமட்டும் கட்டிக்கொண்டு, அதற்குத் தன் நாமத்தின்படியே பாசான் அவோத்யாயீர் என்று பேரிட்டான், அது இந்நாள் வரைக்கும் வழங்கிவருகிறது.

Jair the son of Manasseh took all the country of Argob unto the coasts of Geshuri and Maachathi; and called them after his own name, Bashanhavothjair, unto this day.

மாகீருக்குக் கீலேயாத்தைக் கொடுத்தேன்.

And I gave Gilead unto Machir.

மேலும் கீலேயாத் தொடங்கி, அர்னோன் நதி ஓடுகிற பள்ளத்தாக்கும், கடையாந்தரமுமான அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் எல்லையாகிய யாபோக்கு ஆறுமட்டும் இருக்கிற தேசத்தையும்,

And unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites I gave from Gilead even unto the river Arnon half the valley, and the border even unto the river Jabbok, which is the border of the children of Ammon;

கின்னரேத் தொடங்கி அஸ்தோத் பிஸ்காவுக்குத் தாழ்வாய்க் கிழக்கே இருக்கிற உப்புக்கடலான சமனான வெளியின் கடல்மட்டும், யோர்தானின் எல்லைக்குள் அடங்கிய சமனான வெளியையும், ரூபனியருக்கும் காத்தியருக்கும் கொடுத்தேன்.

The plain also, and Jordan, and the coast thereof, from Chinnereth even unto the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, under Ashdothpisgah eastward.

அக்காலத்திலே நான் உங்களை நோக்கி: உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்கு இந்த தேசத்தைச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுத்தார்; யுத்தஞ்செய்யத்தக்கவர்களாகிய நீங்கள் எல்லாரும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரான உங்கள் சகோதரருக்கு முன்னே ஆயுதபாணிகளாக நடந்துபோங்கள்.

And I commanded you at that time, saying, The LORD your God hath given you this land to possess it: ye shall pass over armed before your brethren the children of Israel, all that are meet for the war.

உங்கள் மனைவிகளும் உங்கள் பிள்ளைகளும் உங்கள் ஆடுமாடுகளும் மாத்திரம் நான் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த உங்கள் பட்டணங்களில் இருக்கட்டும்; உங்களுக்குத் திரளான ஆடுமாடுகள் உண்டென்று அறிவேன்.

But your wives, and your little ones, and your cattle, (for I know that ye have much cattle,) shall abide in your cities which I have given you;

ஆனாலும் கர்த்தர் உங்களை இளைப்பாறப்பண்ணினதுபோல, உங்கள் சகோதரரையும் இளைப்பாறப்பண்ணி, யோர்தானுக்கு அப்புறத்தில் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் கொடுக்கிற தேசத்தைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ளுமட்டும் நீங்கள் இருந்து, பின்பு அவரவர் நான் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த உங்கள் சுதந்தரத்துக்குத் திரும்புவீர்களாக என்றேன்.

Until the LORD have given rest unto your brethren, as well as unto you, and until they also possess the land which the LORD your God hath given them beyond Jordan: and then shall ye return every man unto his possession, which I have given you.

அக்காலத்திலே நான் யோசுவாவை நோக்கி: உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் அந்த இரண்டு ராஜாக்களுக்கும் செய்தவைகளையெல்லாம் உன் கண்கள் கண்டது; நீ போய்ச் சேரும் எல்லா ராஜ்யங்களுக்கும் கர்த்தர் அப்படியே செய்வார்.

And I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, Thine eyes have seen all that the LORD your God hath done unto these two kings: so shall the LORD do unto all the kingdoms whither thou passest.

அவர்களுக்குப் பயப்படீர்களாக; உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் தாமே உங்களுக்காக யுத்தம் பண்ணுவார் என்று சொன்னேன்.

Ye shall not fear them: for the LORD your God he shall fight for you.

அக்காலத்திலே நான் கர்த்தரை நோக்கி:

And I besought the LORD at that time, saying,

கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவரே, நீர் உமது அடியேனுக்கு உமது மகத்துவத்தையும் உமது வல்லமையுள்ள கரத்தையும் காண்பிக்கத் தொடங்கினீர்; வானத்திலும் பூமியிலும் உம்முடைய கிரியைகளுக்கும் உம்முடைய வல்லமைகளுக்கும் ஒப்பாகச் செய்யத்தக்க தேவன் யார்?

O Lord GOD, thou hast begun to shew thy servant thy greatness, and thy mighty hand: for what God is there in heaven or in earth, that can do according to thy works, and according to thy might?

நான் கடந்துபோய் யோர்தானுக்கு அப்புறத்திலுள்ள அந்த நல்ல தேசத்தையும், அந்த நல்ல மலையையும், லீபனோனையும் பார்க்கும்படி உத்தரவு கொடுத்தருளும் என்று வேண்டிக்கொண்டேன்.

I pray thee, let me go over, and see the good land that is beyond Jordan, that goodly mountain, and Lebanon.

கர்த்தரோ உங்கள் நிமித்தம் என்மேல் கோபங்கொண்டு, எனக்குச் செவிகொடாமல், என்னை நோக்கி: போதும், இனி இந்தக் காரியத்தைக்குறித்து என்னோடே பேசவேண்டாம்.

But the LORD was wroth with me for your sakes, and would not hear me: and the LORD said unto me, Let it suffice thee; speak no more unto me of this matter.

நீ பிஸ்காவின் கொடுமுடியில் ஏறி, உன் கண்களை மேற்கிலும் வடக்கிலும் தெற்கிலும் கிழக்கிலும் ஏறெடுத்து, உன் கண்களினாலே அதைப் பார்; இந்த யோர்தானை நீ கடந்து போவதில்லை.

Get thee up into the top of Pisgah, and lift up thine eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and behold it with thine eyes: for thou shalt not go over this Jordan.

நீ யோசுவாவுக்குக் கட்டளை கொடுத்து, அவனைத் திடப்படுத்திப் பலப்படுத்து; அவன் இந்த ஜனங்களுக்கு முன்பாகக் கடந்துபோய், அவனே நீ காணும் தேசத்தை அவர்களுக்குப் பங்கிட்டுக்கொடுப்பான் என்றார்.

But charge Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him: for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see.

பின்பு பெத்பெயோருக்கு எதிரான பள்ளத்தாக்கில் தங்கியிருந்தோம்.

So we abode in the valley over against Bethpeor.

உபாகமம் அத்தியாயம் 4

இஸ்ரவேலரே, நீங்கள் பிழைத்திருக்கும்படிக்கும், உங்கள் பிதாக்களின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கிற தேசத்தில் நீங்கள் பிரவேசித்து அதைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ளும்படிக்கும், நீங்கள் கைக்கொள்வதற்கு நான் உங்களுக்குப் போதிக்கிற கட்டளைகளையும் நியாயங்களையும் கேளுங்கள்.

Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you.

நான் உங்களுக்குக் கற்பிக்கும் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின் கட்டளைகளை நீங்கள் கைக்கொள்ளும்படி. நான் உங்களுக்குக் கற்பிக்கிற வசனத்தோடே நீங்கள் ஒன்றும் கூட்டவும் வேண்டாம், அதில் ஒன்றும் குறைக்கவும் வேண்டாம்.

Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

பாகால்பேயோரின் நிமித்தம் கர்த்தர் செய்ததை உங்கள் கண்கள் கண்டிருக்கிறது; பாகால்பேயோரைப் பின்பற்றின மனிதரையெல்லாம் உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உன் நடுவில் இராதபடிக்கு அழித்துப்போட்டார்.

Your eyes have seen what the LORD did because of Baalpeor: for all the men that followed Baalpeor, the LORD thy God hath destroyed them from among you.

ஆனாலும் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரைப் பற்றிக்கொண்ட நீங்களெல்லாரும் இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் உயிரோடிருக்கிறீர்கள்.

But ye that did cleave unto the LORD your God are alive every one of you this day.

நீங்கள் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ளும்படி பிரவேசிக்கும் தேசத்தில் நீங்கள் கைக்கொள்ளும்பொருட்டு, என் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் எனக்குக் கற்பித்தபடியே, நான் உங்களுக்குக் கட்டளைகளையும் நியாயங்களையும் போதித்தேன்.

Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it.

ஆகையால் அவைகளைக் கைக்கொண்டு நடவுங்கள்; ஜனங்களின் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாகவும் இதுவே உங்களுக்கு ஞானமும் விவேகமுமாய் இருக்கும்; அவர்கள் இந்தக் கட்டளைகளையெல்லாம் கேட்டு, இந்தப் பெரிய ஜாதியே ஞானமும் விவேகமுமுள்ள ஜனங்கள் என்பார்கள்.

Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.

நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை நாம் தொழுதுகொள்ளுகிறபோதெல்லாம், அவர் நமக்குச் சமீபமாயிருக்கிறதுபோல, தேவனை இவ்வளவு சமீபமாய்ப் பெற்றிருக்கிற வேறே பெரிய ஜாதி எது?

For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?

இந்நாளில் நான் உங்களுக்கு விதிக்கிற இந்த நியாயப்பிரமாணம் முழுமைக்கும் ஒத்த இவ்வளவு நீதியுள்ள கட்டளைகளையும் நியாயங்களையும் பெற்றிருக்கிற வேறே பெரிய ஜாதியும் எது?

And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?

ஓரேபிலே உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக நீ நிற்கும்போது, கர்த்தர் என்னை நோக்கி: ஜனங்களை என்னிடத்தில் கூடிவரச்செய்து, என் வார்த்தைகளை அவர்கள் கேட்கும்படி பண்ணுவேன்; அவர்கள் பூமியில் உயிரோடிருக்கும் நாளெல்லாம் எனக்குப் பயந்திருக்கும்படி அவைகளைக் கற்றுக்கொண்டு, தங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்கும் போதிக்கக்கடவர்கள் என்று சொல்லிய நாளில்,

Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;

உன் கண்கள் கண்ட காரியங்களை நீ மறவாதபடிக்கும், உன் ஜீவனுள்ள நாளெல்லாம் அவைகள் உன் இருதயத்தை விட்டு நீங்காதபடிக்கும் நீ எச்சரிக்கையாயிருந்து, உன் ஆத்துமாவைச் சாக்கிரதையாய்க் காத்துக்கொள்; அவைகளை உன் பிள்ளைகளுக்கும் உன் பிள்ளைகளின் பிள்ளைகளுக்கும் அறிவிக்கக்கடவாய்.

Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.

நீங்கள் சேர்ந்து வந்து, மலையின் அடிவாரத்தில் நின்றீர்கள்; அந்த மலையில் வானத்தை அளாவிய அக்கினி எரிய, இருளும் மேகமும் அந்தகாரமும் சூழ்ந்தது.

And ye came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness.

அந்த அக்கினியின் நடுவிலிருந்து கர்த்தர் உங்களோடே பேசினார்; வார்த்தைகளின் சத்தத்தை நீங்கள் கேட்டீர்கள்; அந்தச் சத்தத்தை நீங்கள் கேட்டதேயன்றி, ஒரு ரூபத்தையும் காணவில்லை.

And the LORD spake unto you out of the midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; only ye heard a voice.

நீங்கள் கைக்கொள்ளவேண்டும் என்று அவர் உங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்ட பத்துக் கற்பனைகளாகிய தம்முடைய உடன்படிக்கையை அவர் உங்களுக்கு அறிவித்து, அவைகளை இரண்டு கற்பலகைகளில் எழுதினார்.

And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.

நீங்கள் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ளப்போகிற தேசத்தில் நீங்கள் கைக்கொள்ளவேண்டிய கட்டளைகளையும் நியாயங்களையும் உங்களுக்குப் போதிக்கவேண்டுமென்று அக்காலத்தில் கர்த்தர் எனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டார்.

And the LORD commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go over to possess it.

கர்த்தர் ஓரேபிலே அக்கினியின் நடுவிலிருந்து உங்களோடே பேசின நாளில், நீங்கள் ஒரு ரூபத்தையும் காணவில்லை.

Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day that the LORD spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire:

ஆகையால் நீங்கள் உங்களைக் கெடுத்துக்கொண்டு, ஆண் உருவும், பெண் உருவும்,

Lest ye corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female,

பூமியிலிருக்கிற யாதொரு மிருகத்தின் உருவும், ஆகாயத்தில் பறக்கிற செட்டையுள்ள யாதொரு பட்சியின் உருவும்,

The likeness of any beast that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged fowl that flieth in the air,

பூமியிலுள்ள யாதொரு ஊரும் பிராணியின் உருவும், பூமியின் கீழ்த் தண்ணீரிலுள்ள யாதொரு மச்சத்தின் உருவுமாயிருக்கிற இவைகளில் யாதொரு உருவுக்கு ஒப்பான விக்கிரகத்தை உங்களுக்கு உண்டாக்காதபடிக்கும்,

The likeness of any thing that creepeth on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth:

உங்கள் கண்களை வானத்திற்கு ஏறெடுத்து, உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் வானத்தின் கீழெங்கும் இருக்கிற எல்லா ஜனங்களுக்கும் ஏற்படுத்தின வானத்தின் சர்வ சேனைகளாகிய சந்திர சூரிய நட்சத்திரங்களை நோக்கி, அவைகளைத் தொழுது சேவிக்க இணங்காதபடிக்கும், உங்கள் ஆத்துமாக்களைக்குறித்து மிகவும் எச்சரிக்கையாயிருங்கள்.

And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven.

இந்நாளில் நீங்கள் இருக்கிறதுபோல, தமக்குச் சுதந்தரமான ஜனமாயிருக்கும்படி, கர்த்தர் உங்களைச் சேர்த்துக்கொண்டு, உங்களை எகிப்து என்னும் இருப்புக்காளவாயிலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணினார்.

But the LORD hath taken you, and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, even out of Egypt, to be unto him a people of inheritance, as ye are this day.

கர்த்தர் உங்கள் நிமித்தம் என்மேல் கோபங்கொண்டு, நான் யோர்தானைக் கடந்துபோவதில்லை என்றும், உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுக்கிற அந்த நல்ல தேசத்தில் நான் பிரவேசிப்பதில்லை என்றும் ஆணையிட்டார்.

Furthermore the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, and sware that I should not go over Jordan, and that I should not go in unto that good land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance:

அதினால் இந்த தேசத்தில் நான் மரணமடையவேண்டும்; நான் யோர்தானைக் கடந்து போவதில்லை; நீங்களோ கடந்துபோய், அந்த நல்ல தேசத்தைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்வீர்கள்.

But I must die in this land, I must not go over Jordan: but ye shall go over, and possess that good land.

நீங்கள் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உங்களோடே பண்ணின உடன்படிக்கையை மறந்து, உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் வேண்டாம் என்று விலக்கின எவ்வித சாயலான விக்கிரகத்தையும் உங்களுக்கு உண்டாக்காதபடிக்கு எச்சரிக்கையாயிருங்கள்.

Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, which the LORD thy God hath forbidden thee.

உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் பட்சிக்கிற அக்கினி, அவர் எரிச்சலுள்ள தேவன்.

For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.

நீங்கள் பிள்ளைகளும் பிள்ளைகளின் பிள்ளைகளும் பெற்று, தேசத்தில் வெகுநாள் இருந்தபின்பு, நீங்கள் உங்களைக் கெடுத்து, யாதொரு விக்கிரகத்தையாவது யாதொரு சாயலான சுரூபத்தையாவது பண்ணி, உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்குக் கோபம் உண்டாக்க அவர் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தால்,

When thou shalt beget children, and children's children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to provoke him to anger:

நீங்கள் யோர்தானைக் கடந்து சுதந்தரிக்கப்போகிற தேசத்தில் இராமல், சீக்கிரமாய் முற்றிலும் அழிந்துபோவீர்கள் என்று, இந்நாளில் உங்களுக்கு விரோதமாய் வானத்தையும் பூமியையும் சாட்சி வைக்கிறேன்; நீங்கள் அதிலே நெடுநாள் இராமல் நிர்மூலமாக்கப்படுவீர்கள்.

I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.

கர்த்தர் உங்களைப் புறஜாதிகளுக்குள்ளே சிதற அடிப்பார்; கர்த்தர் உங்களைக் கொண்டுபோய் விடப்போகிற ஜாதிகளிடத்திலே கொஞ்ச ஜனங்களாய் மீந்திருப்பீர்கள்.

And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the LORD shall lead you.

அங்கே காணாமலும் கேளாமலும் சாப்பிடாமலும் முகராமலும் இருக்கிற மரமும் கல்லுமான, மனுஷர் கைவேலையாகிய தேவர்களைச் சேவிப்பீர்கள்.

And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.

அப்பொழுது அங்கேயிருந்து உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரைத் தேடுவாய்; உன் முழு இருதயத்தோடும் உன் முழு ஆத்துமாவோடும் அவரைத் தேடும்போது, அவரைக் கண்டடைவாய்.

But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.

நீ வியாகுலப்பட இவைகளெல்லாம் உன்னைத் தொடர்ந்து பிடிக்கும்போது, கடைசி நாட்களில் உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரிடத்தில் திரும்பி அவர் சத்தத்திற்குக் கீழ்ப்படிவாயானால்,

When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;

உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் இரக்கமுள்ள தேவனாயிருக்கிறபடியால், அவர் உன்னைக் கைவிடவுமாட்டார், உன்னை அழிக்கவுமாட்டார், உன் பிதாக்களுக்குத் தாம் ஆணையிட்டுக் கொடுத்த உடன்படிக்கையை மறக்கவுமாட்டார்.

(For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.

தேவன் மனுஷனைப் பூமியிலே சிருஷ்டித்த நாள்முதல், உனக்கு முன் இருந்த பூர்வநாட்களில், வானத்தின் ஒருமுனை தொடங்கி அதின் மறுமுனைமட்டுமுள்ள எவ்விடத்திலாகிலும் இப்படிப்பட்ட பெரிய காரியம் நடந்ததுண்டோ, இப்படிப்பட்ட காரியம் கேள்விப்பட்டதுண்டோ;

For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it?

அக்கினியின் நடுவிலிருந்து பேசுகிற தேவனுடைய சத்தத்தை நீ கேட்டது போல, யாதொரு ஜனமாவது கேட்டதும் உயிரோடிருந்ததும் உண்டோ,

Did ever people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live?

அல்லது உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் எகிப்திலே உங்கள் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக உங்களுக்குச் செய்தபடியெல்லாம் தேவன் அந்நிய ஜாதிகளின் நடுவிலிருந்து ஒரு ஜனத்தைச் சோதனைகளினாலும், அடையாளங்களினாலும், அற்புதங்களினாலும், யுத்தத்தினாலும், வல்லமையுள்ள கரத்தினாலும், ஓங்கிய புயத்தினாலும், மகா பயங்கரமான செயல்களினாலும், தமக்கென்று தெரிந்துகொள்ள வகைபண்ணினதுண்டோ என்று நீ விசாரித்துப்பார்.

Or hath God assayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a stretched out arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?

கர்த்தரே தேவன், அவரையல்லாமல் வேறொருவரும் இல்லை என்பதை நீ அறியும்படிக்கு, இது உனக்குக் காட்டப்பட்டது.

Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him.

உன்னை உபதேசிக்கும்படிக்கு, அவர் வானத்திலிருந்து தமது சத்தத்தை உனக்குக் கேட்கப்பண்ணி, பூமியிலே தமது பெரிய அக்கினியை உனக்குக் காண்பித்தார்; அக்கினியின் நடுவிலிருந்து உண்டான அவருடைய வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டாய்.

Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he shewed thee his great fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the fire.

அவர் உன் பிதாக்களில் அன்பு கூர்ந்தபடியால், அவர்களுடைய பின்சந்ததியைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டு,

And because he loved thy fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought thee out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt;

உன்னிலும் பலத்த பெரிய ஜாதிகளை உனக்கு முன்னின்று துரத்தவும், உன்னை அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், இந்நாளில் இருக்கிறதுபோல, அவர்கள் தேசத்தை உனக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுக்கவும், உன்னைத் தமது முகத்துக்குமுன் தமது மிகுந்த வல்லமையினால் எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணினார்.

To drive out nations from before thee greater and mightier than thou art, to bring thee in, to give thee their land for an inheritance, as it is this day.

ஆகையால், உயர வானத்திலும் தாழ பூமியிலும் கர்த்தரே தேவன், அவரைத் தவிர ஒருவரும் இல்லை என்பதை நீ இந்நாளில் அறிந்து, உன் மனதிலே சிந்தித்து,

Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.

நீயும் உனக்குப் பின்வரும் உன் பிள்ளைகளும் நன்றாயிருக்கும்படிக்கும், உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்கு என்றைக்கும் கொடுக்கிற தேசத்திலே நீ நீடித்த நாளாயிருக்கும்படிக்கும், நான் இன்று உனக்குக் கற்பிக்கிற அவருடைய கட்டளைகளையும் அவருடைய கற்பனைகளையும் கைக்கொள்ளக்கடவாய் என்றான்.

Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever.

முற்பகையின்றிக் கைப்பிசகாய் பிறனைக் கொன்றவன் அடைக்கலப்பட்டணங்களில் ஒரு பட்டணத்தில் தப்பியோடிப்போய்ப் பிழைத்திருக்கும்படியாக,

Then Moses severed three cities on this side Jordan toward the sunrising;

ரூபனியரைச் சேர்ந்த சமபூமியாகிய வனாந்தரத்திலுள்ள பேசேரும், காத்தியரைச் சேர்ந்த கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்தும், மனாசேயரைச் சேர்ந்த பாசானிலுள்ள கோலானுமாகிய,

That the slayer might flee thither, which should kill his neighbour unawares, and hated him not in times past; and that fleeing unto one of these cities he might live:

மூன்று பட்டணங்களை மோசே யோர்தானுக்கு இப்புறத்தில் சூரியோதய திசையிலே ஏற்படுத்தினான்.

Namely, Bezer in the wilderness, in the plain country, of the Reubenites; and Ramoth in Gilead, of the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan, of the Manassites.

இதுவே மோசே இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு விதித்த பிரமாணம்.

And this is the law which Moses set before the children of Israel:

இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்டபின்பு, யோர்தானுக்கு இப்புறத்தில் எஸ்போனில் குடியிருந்த எமோரியரின் ராஜாவாகிய சீகோனுடைய தேசத்திலுள்ள பெத்பேயோருக்கு எதிரான பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே, அவர்களுக்கு மோசே சொன்ன சாட்சிகளும் கட்டளைகளும் நியாயங்களும் இவைகளே.

These are the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which Moses spake unto the children of Israel, after they came forth out of Egypt,

மோசேயும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரும் எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்டபின்பு அந்த ராஜாவை முறிய அடித்து,

On this side Jordan, in the valley over against Bethpeor, in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon, whom Moses and the children of Israel smote, after they were come forth out of Egypt:

யோர்தானுக்கு இப்புறத்தில் சூரியோதய திசையில் அர்னோன் ஆற்றங்கரையிலுள்ள ஆரோவேர் தொடங்கி எர்மோன் என்னும் சீயோன் மலைவரைக்குமுள்ள தேசமும்,

And they possessed his land, and the land of Og king of Bashan, two kings of the Amorites, which were on this side Jordan toward the sunrising;

யோர்தானுக்கு இப்புறத்தில் சூரியோதய திசையில் அஸ்தோத் பிஸ்காவுக்கும் தாழ்ந்த சமனான வெளியைச்சேர்ந்த கடல்மட்டுமுள்ள சமனான வெளியனைத்துமாகிய,

From Aroer, which is by the bank of the river Arnon, even unto mount Sion, which is Hermon,

எமோரியருடைய இரண்டு ராஜாக்களின் தேசங்களான சீகோனுடைய தேசத்தையும், பாசானின் ராஜாவாகிய ஓகின் தேசத்தையும் கட்டிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

And all the plain on this side Jordan eastward, even unto the sea of the plain, under the springs of Pisgah.

யோவான் அத்தியாயம் 11

மரியாளும் அவள் சகோதரியாகிய மார்த்தாளும் இருந்த பெத்தானியா கிராமத்திலுள்ளவனாகிய லாசரு என்னும் ஒருவன் வியாதிப்பட்டிருந்தான்.

Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.

கர்த்தருக்குப் பரிமளதைலம் பூசி, தன் தலைமயிரால் அவருடைய பாதங்களைத் துடைத்தவள் அந்த மரியாளே; அவளுடைய சகோதரனாகிய லாசரு வியாதியாயிருந்தான்.

It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)

அப்பொழுது அவனுடைய சகோதரிகள்: ஆண்டவரே, நீர் சிநேகிக்கிறவன் வியாதியாயிருக்கிறான் என்று சொல்ல, அவரிடத்திற்கு ஆள் அனுப்பினார்கள்.

Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.

இயேசு அதைக் கேட்டபொழுது: இந்த வியாதி மரணத்துக்கு ஏதுவாயிராமல் தேவனுடைய மகிமை விளங்குவதற்கு ஏதுவாயிருக்கிறது; தேவனுடைய குமாரனும் அதினால் மகிமைப்படுவார் என்றார்.

When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.

இயேசு மார்த்தாளிடத்திலும் அவளுடைய சகோதரியினிடத்திலும் லாசருவினிடத்திலும் அன்பாயிருந்தார்.

Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.

அவன் வியாதியாயிருக்கிறதாக அவர் கேள்விப்பட்டபொழுது, தாம் இருந்த இடத்திலே பின்னும் இரண்டுநாள் தங்கினார்.

When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.

அதன்பின்பு அவர் தம்முடைய சீஷரை நோக்கி: நாம் மறுபடியும் யூதேயாவுக்குப் போவோம் வாருங்கள் என்றார்.

Then after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judaea again.

அதற்குச் சீஷர்கள்: ரபீ, இப்பொழுதுதான் யூதர் உம்மைக் கல்லெறியத் தேடினார்களே, மறுபடியும் நீர் அவ்விடத்திற்குப் போகலாமா என்றார்கள்.

His disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?

இயேசு பிரதியுத்தரமாக: பகலுக்குப் பன்னிரண்டு மணிநேரம் இல்லையா? ஒருவன் பகலிலே நடந்தால் அவன் இந்த உலகத்தின் வெளிச்சத்தைக் காண்கிறபடியினால் இடறமாட்டான்.

Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.

ஒருவன் இரவிலே நடந்தால் தன்னிடத்தில் வெளிச்சம் இல்லாதபடியினால் இடறுவான் என்றார்.

But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.

இவைகளை அவர் சொல்லியபின்பு அவர்களை நோக்கி: நம்முடைய சிநேகிதனாகிய லாசரு நித்திரையடைந்திருக்கிறான், நான் அவனை எழுப்பப்போகிறேன் என்றார்.

These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.

அதற்கு அவருடைய சீஷர்கள்: ஆண்டவரே, நித்திரையடைந்திருந்தால் சுகமடைவான் என்றார்கள்.

Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.

இயேசுவானவர் அவனுடைய மரணத்தைக்குறித்து அப்படிச் சொன்னார்; அவர்களோ நித்திரைசெய்து இளைப்பாறுகிறதைக்குறித்துச் சொன்னாரென்று நினைத்தார்கள்.

Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.

அப்பொழுது இயேசு அவர்களை நோக்கி: லாசரு மரித்துப்போனான் என்று வெளிப்படையாய்ச் சொல்லி;

Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.

நான் அங்கே இராததினால் நீங்கள் விசுவாசமுள்ளவர்களாகிறதற்கு ஏதுவுண்டென்று உங்கள்நிமித்தம் சந்தோஷப்படுகிறேன்; இப்பொழுது அவனிடத்திற்குப் போவோம் வாருங்கள் என்றார்.

And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.

அப்பொழுது திதிமு என்னப்பட்ட தோமா மற்றச் சீஷர்களை நோக்கி: அவரோடேகூட மரிக்கும்படி நாமும் போவோம் வாருங்கள் என்றான்.

Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.

இயேசு வந்தபோது அவன் கல்லறையில் வைக்கப்பட்டு நாலுநாளாயிற்றென்று கண்டார்.

Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.

பெத்தானியா ஊர் எருசலேமுக்குச் சமீபமாய் ஏறக்குறைய இரண்டுமைல் தூரத்திலிருந்தது.

Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off:

யூதரில் அநேகர் மார்த்தாள் மரியாள் என்பவர்களுடைய சகோதரனைக் குறித்து அவர்களுக்கு ஆறுதல் சொல்லும்படி அவர்களிடத்தில் வந்திருந்தார்கள்.

And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.

இயேசு வருகிறார் என்று மார்த்தாள் கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, அவருக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோனாள்; மரியாளோ வீட்டிலே உட்கார்ந்திருந்தாள்.

Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.

மார்த்தாள் இயேசுவினிடத்தில் வந்து: ஆண்டவரே, நீர் இங்கேயிருந்தீரானால் என் சகோதரன் மரிக்கமாட்டான்.

Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

இப்பொழுதும் நீர் தேவனிடத்தில் கேட்டுக்கொள்ளுவதெதுவோ அதை தேவன் உமக்குத் தந்தருளுவாரென்று அறிந்திருக்கிறேன் என்றாள்.

But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.

இயேசு அவளை நோக்கி: உன் சகோதரன் உயிர்த்தெழுந்திருப்பான் என்றார்.

Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.

அதற்கு மார்த்தாள்: உயிர்தெழுதல் நடக்கும் கடைசிநாளிலே அவனும் உயிர்த்தெழுந்திருப்பான் என்று அறிந்திருக்கிறேன் என்றாள்.

Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.

இயேசு அவளை நோக்கி: நானே உயிர்த்தெழுதலும் ஜீவனுமாயிருக்கிறேன், என்னை விசுவாசிக்கிறவன் மரித்தாலும் பிழைப்பான்;

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

உயிரோடிருந்து என்னை விசுவாசிக்கிறவனெவனும் என்றென்றைக்கும் மரியாமலும் இருப்பான்; இதை விசுவாசிக்கிறாயா என்றார்.

And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

அதற்கு அவள்: ஆம், ஆண்டவரே, நீர் உலகத்தில் வருகிறவரான தேவகுமாரனாகிய கிறிஸ்து என்று நான் விசுவாசிக்கிறேன் என்றாள்.

She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

இவைகளைச் சொன்னபின்பு, அவள் போய், தன் சகோதரியாகிய மரியாளை இரகசியமாய் அழைத்து: போதகர் வந்திருக்கிறார், உன்னை அழைக்கிறார் என்றாள்.

And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.

அவள் அதைக் கேட்டவுடனே, சீக்கிரமாய் எழுந்து, அவரிடத்தில் வந்தாள்.

As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him.

இயேசு இன்னும் கிராமத்துக்குள் வராமல், மார்த்தாள் தம்மைச் சந்தித்த இடத்திலே இருந்தார்.

Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.

அப்பொழுது, வீட்டிலே அவளுடனேகூட இருந்து அவளுக்கு ஆறுதல் சொல்லிக்கொண்டிருந்த யூதர்கள், மரியாள் சீக்கிரமாய் எழுந்துபோகிறதைக் கண்டு: அவள் கல்லறையினிடத்தில் அழுகிறதற்குப் போகிறாள் என்று சொல்லி, அவளுக்குப் பின்னே போனார்கள்.

The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.

இயேசு இருந்த இடத்தில் மரியாள் வந்து, அவரைக் கண்டவுடனே, அவர் பாதத்தில் விழுந்து: ஆண்டவரே, நீர் இங்கே இருந்தீரானால் என் சகோதரன் மரிக்கமாட்டான் என்றாள்.

Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

அவள் அழுகிறதையும் அவளோடேகூட வந்த யூதர்கள் அழுகிறதையும் இயேசு கண்டபோது ஆவியிலே கலங்கித் துயரமடைந்து:

When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,

அவனை எங்கே வைத்தீர்கள் என்றார். ஆண்டவரே, வந்து பாரும் என்றார்கள்.

And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.

இயேசு கண்ணீர் விட்டார்.

Jesus wept.

அப்பொழுது யூதர்கள்: இதோ, இவர் அவனை எவ்வளவாய்ச் சிநேகித்தார் என்றார்கள்!

Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!

அவர்களில் சிலர்: குருடனுடைய கண்களைத் திறந்த இவர். இவனைச் சாகாமலிருக்கப்பண்ணவும் கூடாதா என்றார்கள்.

And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?

அப்பொழுது இயேசு மறுபடியும் தமக்குள்ளே கலங்கிக் கல்லறையினிடத்திற்கு வந்தார். அது ஒரு குகையாயிருந்தது; அதின்மேல் ஒரு கல் வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது.

Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.

இயேசு: கல்லை எடுத்துப்போடுங்கள் என்றார். மரித்தவனுடைய சகோதரியாகிய மார்த்தாள் அவரை நோக்கி: ஆண்டவரே, இப்பொழுது நாறுமே, நாலுநாளாயிற்றே என்றாள்.

Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.

இயேசு அவளை நோக்கி: நீ விசுவாசித்தால் தேவனுடைய மகிமையைக் காண்பாய் என்று நான் உனக்குச் சொல்லவில்லையா என்றார்.

Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?

அப்பொழுது மரித்தவன் வைக்கப்பட்ட இடத்திலிருந்த கல்லை எடுத்துப்போட்டார்கள். இயேசு தம்முடைய கண்களை ஏறெடுத்து: பிதாவே, நீர் எனக்குச் செவிகொடுத்தபடியினால் உம்மை ஸ்தோத்திரிக்கிறேன்.

Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.

நீர் எப்பொழுதும் எனக்குச் செவிகொடுக்கிறீர் என்று நான் அறிந்திருக்கிறேன்; ஆனாலும் நீர் என்னை அனுப்பினதைச் சூழந்துநிற்கும் ஜனங்கள் விசுவாசிக்கும்படியாக அவர்கள்நிமித்தம் இதைச் சொன்னேன் என்றார்.

And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

இவைகளைச் சொன்னபின்பு: லாசருவே, வெளியே வா என்று, உரத்த சத்தமாய்க் கூப்பிட்டார்.

And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

அப்பொழுது, மரித்தவன் வெளியே வந்தான். அவன் கால்களும் கைகளும் பிரேதச் சீலைகளினால் கட்டப்பட்டிருந்தது, அவன் முகமும் சீலையால் சுற்றப்பட்டிருந்தது. இயேசு அவர்களை நோக்கி: இவனைக் கட்டவிழ்த்துவிடுங்கள் என்றார்.

And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

அப்பொழுது மரியாளிடத்தில் வந்திருந்து, இயேசு செய்தவைகளைக் கண்டவர்களாகிய யூதர்களில் அநேகர் அவரிடத்தில் விசுவாசமுள்ளவர்களானார்கள்.

Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.

அவர்களில் சிலர் பரிசேயரிடத்தில் போய், இயேசு செய்தவைகளை அவர்களுக்கு அறிவித்தார்கள்.

But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done.

அப்பொழுது பிரதான ஆசாரியரும் பரிசேயரும் ஆலோசனைச் சங்கத்தைக் கூடிவரச்செய்து, நாம் என்ன செய்கிறது? இந்த மனுஷன் அநேக அற்புதங்களைச் செய்கிறானே.

Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.

நாம் இவனை இப்படி விட்டுவிட்டால், எல்லாரும் இவனை விசுவாசிப்பார்கள்; அப்பொழுது ரோமர் வந்து நம்முடைய ஸ்தானத்தையும் ஜனத்தையும் அழித்துப் போடுவார்களே என்றார்கள்.

If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.

அப்பொழுது அவர்களில் ஒருவனும் அந்த வருஷத்துப் பிரதான ஆசாரியனுமாகிய காய்பா என்பவன் அவர்களை நோக்கி: உங்களுக்கு ஒன்றுந்தெரியாது;

And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,

ஜனங்களெல்லாரும் கெட்டுப்போகாதபடிக்கு ஒரே மனுஷன் ஜனங்களுக்காக மரிப்பது நமக்கு நலமாயிருக்குமென்று நீங்கள் சிந்தியாமலிருக்கிறீர்கள் என்றான்.

Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.

இதை அவன் சுயமாய்ச் சொல்லாமல், அந்த வருஷத்துப் பிரதான ஆசாரியனானபடியினாலே இயேசு யூதஜனங்களுக்காக மரிக்கப்போகிறாரென்றும்,

And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;

அந்த ஜனங்களுக்காக மாத்திரமல்ல, சிதறியிருக்கிற தேவனுடைய பிள்ளைகளை ஒன்றாகச் சேர்க்கிறதற்காகவும் மரிக்கப்போகிறாரென்றும், தீர்க்கதரிசனமாய்ச் சொன்னான்.

And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.

அந்நாள்முதல் அவரைக் கொலைசெய்யும்படிக்கு ஆலோசனைபண்ணினார்கள்.

Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death.

ஆகையால் இயேசு அதன்பின்பு வெளியரங்கமாய் யூதருக்குள்ளே சஞ்சரியாமல், அவ்விடம்விட்டு வனாந்தரத்துக்குச் சமீபமான இடமாகிய எப்பிராயீம் என்னப்பட்ட ஊருக்குப்போய், அங்கே தம்முடைய சீஷருடனேகூடத் தங்கியிருந்தார்.

Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.

யூதருடைய பஸ்காபண்டிகை சமீபமாயிருந்தது. அதற்கு முன்னே அநேகர் தங்களைச் சுத்திகரித்துக்கொள்ளும்பொருட்டு நாட்டிலிருந்து எருசலேமுக்குப் போனார்கள்.

And the Jews' passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.

அங்கே அவர்கள் இயேசுவைத் தேடிக்கொண்டு தேவாலயத்தில் நிற்கையில், ஒருவரையொருவர் நோக்கி: உங்களுக்கெப்படித் தோன்றுகிறது, அவர் பண்டிகைக்கு வரமாட்டாரோ என்று பேசிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

Then sought they for Jesus, and spake among themselves, as they stood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feast?

பிரதான ஆசாரியரும் பரிசேயரும் அவரைப் பிடிக்கும்படி யோசித்து, அவர் இருக்கிற இடத்தை எவனாவது அறிந்திருந்தால், அதை அறிவிக்கவேண்டுமென்று கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தார்கள்.

Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he were, he should shew it, that they might take him.
