உபாகமம் அத்தியாயம் 5

மோசே இஸ்ரவேலர் எல்லாரையும் அழைப்பித்து, அவர்களை நோக்கி: இஸ்ரவேலரே, நான் இன்று உங்கள் காதுகள் கேட்கச் சொல்லும் கட்டளைகளையும் நியாயங்களையும் கேளுங்கள்; நீங்கள் அவைகளின்படியே செய்யும்படிக்கு அவைகளைக் கற்றுக் கைக்கொள்ளக்கடவீர்கள்.

And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them.

நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் ஓரேபிலே நம்மோடே உடன்படிக்கைபண்ணினார்.

The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.

அந்த உடன்படிக்கையைக் கர்த்தர் நம்முடைய பிதாக்களுடன் பண்ணாமல், இந்நாளில் இங்கே உயிரோடிருக்கிற நம்மெல்லாரோடும் பண்ணினார்.

The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.

கர்த்தர் மலையிலே அக்கினியின் நடுவிலிருந்து முகமுகமாய் உங்களோடே பேசினார்.

The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire,

கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையை உங்களுக்கு அறிவிக்கும்படி, அக்காலத்திலே நான் கர்த்தருக்கும், உங்களுக்கும் நடுவாக நின்றேன்; நீங்கள் அக்கினிக்குப் பயந்து மலையில் ஏறாமல் இருந்தீர்கள்; அப்பொழுது அவர் சொன்னது என்னவென்றால்:

(I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to shew you the word of the LORD: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying,

உன்னை அடிமைத்தன வீடாகிய எகிப்துதேசத்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணின உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் நானே.

I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

என்னையன்றி உனக்கு வேறே தேவர்கள் உண்டாயிருக்க வேண்டாம்.

Thou shalt have none other gods before me.

மேலே வானத்திலும், கீழே பூமியிலும், பூமியின்கீழ்த் தண்ணீரிலும் உண்டாயிருக்கிறவைகளுக்கு ஒப்பான ஒரு சுரூபத்தையாகிலும் யாதொரு விக்கிரகத்தையாகிலும் நீ உனக்கு உண்டாக்கவேண்டாம்.

Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:

நீ அவைகளை நமஸ்கரிக்கவும் சேவிக்கவும் வேண்டாம்; உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தராயிருக்கிற நான் எரிச்சலுள்ள தேவனாயிருந்து, என்னைப் பகைக்கிறவர்களைக் குறித்து பிதாக்களுடைய அக்கிரமத்தைப் பிள்ளைகளிடத்தில் மூன்றாம், நான்காம் தலைமுறைமட்டும் விசாரிக்கிறவராயிருக்கிறேன்.

Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,

என்னிடத்தில் அன்புகூர்ந்து, என் கற்பனைகளைக் கைக்கொள்ளுகிறவர்களுக்கோ ஆயிரம் தலைமுறைமட்டும் இரக்கஞ்செய்கிறவராயிருக்கிறேன்.

And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருடைய நாமத்தை வீணிலே வழங்காதிருப்பாயாக; கர்த்தர் தம்முடைய நாமத்தை வீணிலே வழங்குகிறவனைத் தண்டியாமல் விடார்.

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே, ஓய்வுநாளைப் பரிசுத்தமாய் ஆசரிப்பாயாக.

Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.

ஆறு நாளும் நீ வேலைசெய்து, உன் கிரியைகளையெல்லாம் நடப்பிப்பாயாக.

Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work:

ஏழாம் நாளோ உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருடைய ஓய்வு நாள்; அதிலே நீயானாலும், உன் குமாரனானாலும், உன் குமாரத்தியானாலும், உன் வேலைக்காரனானாலும், உன் வேலைக்காரியானாலும், உன் எருதானாலும், உன் கழுதையானாலும், உனக்கு இருக்கிற மற்றெந்த மிருகஜீவனானாலும், உன் வாசல்களில் இருக்கிற அந்நியனானாலும் யாதொரு வேலையும் செய்யவேண்டாம்; நீ இளைப்பாறுவதுபோல உன் வேலைக்காரனும் உன் வேலைக்காரியும் இளைப்பாறவேண்டும்;

But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.

நீ எகிப்து தேசத்தில் அடிமையாயிருந்தாய் என்றும், உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உன்னை அவ்விடத்திலிருந்து வல்லமையுள்ள கரத்தினாலும் ஓங்கிய புயத்தினாலும் புறப்படப்பண்ணினார் என்றும் நினைப்பாயாக; ஆகையால் ஓய்வு நாளை ஆசரிக்க உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டார்.

And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.

உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குக் கொடுக்கிற தேசத்திலே உன் நாட்கள் நீடித்திருப்பதற்கும், நீ நன்றாயிருப்பதற்கும், உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே, உன் தகப்பனையும் உன் தாயையும் கனம்பண்ணுவாயாக.

Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

கொலை செய்யாதிருப்பாயாக.

Thou shalt not kill.

விபசாரம் செய்யாதிருப்பாயாக.

Neither shalt thou commit adultery.

களவு செய்யாதிருப்பாயாக.

Neither shalt thou steal.

பிறனுக்கு விரோதமாகப் பொய்ச்சாட்சி சொல்லாதிருப்பாயாக.

Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbour.

பிறனுடைய மனைவியை இச்சியாதிருப்பாயாக; பிறனுடைய வீட்டையும், அவனுடைய நிலத்தையும், அவனுடைய வேலைக்காரனையும், அவனுடைய வேலைக்காரியையும், அவனுடைய எருதையும், அவனுடைய கழுதையையும், பின்னும் பிறனுக்குள்ள யாதொன்றையும் இச்சியாதிருப்பாயாக என்றார்.

Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour's wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour's house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is thy neighbour's.

இந்த வார்த்தைகளைக் கர்த்தர் மலையிலே அக்கினியிலும் மேகத்திலும் காரிருளிலும் இருந்து உங்கள் சபையார் எல்லாரோடும் மகா சத்தத்துடனே சொன்னார்; அவைகளோடு ஒன்றும் கூட்டாமல், அவைகளை இரண்டு கற்பலகைகளில் எழுதி, என்னிடத்தில் கொடுத்தார்.

These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.

மலை அக்கினியாய் எரிகையில் இருளின் நடுவிலிருந்து உண்டான சத்தத்தை நீங்கள் கேட்டபோது, கோத்திரத் தலைவரும் மூப்பருமாகிய நீங்கள் எல்லாரும் என்னிடத்தில் வந்து:

And it came to pass, when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn with fire,) that ye came near unto me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;

இதோ, நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் நமக்குத் தம்முடைய மகிமையையும் தம்முடைய மகத்துவத்தையும் காண்பித்தார்; அக்கினியின் நடுவிலிருந்து உண்டான அவருடைய சத்தத்தையும் கேட்டோம்; தேவன் மனுஷனோடே பேசியும், அவன் உயிரோடிருக்கிறதை இந்நாளிலே கண்டோம்.

And ye said, Behold, the LORD our God hath shewed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God doth talk with man, and he liveth.

இப்பொழுது நாங்கள் சாவானேன்? இந்தப் பெரிய அக்கினி எங்களைப் பட்சிக்குமே; நாங்கள் இன்னும் நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்போமாகில் சாவோம்.

Now therefore why should we die? for this great fire will consume us: if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die.

நாங்கள் கேட்டதுபோல, அக்கினியின் நடுவிலிருந்து பேசுகிற ஜீவனுள்ள தேவனுடைய சத்தத்தை மாம்சமானவர்களில் யாராவது கேட்டு உயிரோடிருந்தது உண்டோ?

For who is there of all flesh, that hath heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?

நீரோ சமீபித்துப்போய், நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் சொல்வதையெல்லாம் கேட்டு, நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் சொல்வதையெல்லாம் நீரே எங்களுக்குச் சொல்லவேண்டும்; நாங்கள் கேட்டு, அதின்படியே செய்வோம் என்றீர்கள்.

Go thou near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say: and speak thou unto us all that the LORD our God shall speak unto thee; and we will hear it, and do it.

நீங்கள் என்னோடே பேசுகையில், கர்த்தர் உங்கள் வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டு, கர்த்தர் என்னை நோக்கி; இந்த ஜனங்கள் உன்னோடே சொன்ன வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டேன்; அவர்கள் சொன்னது எல்லாம் நன்றாய்ச் சொன்னார்கள்.

And the LORD heard the voice of your words, when ye spake unto me; and the LORD said unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken unto thee: they have well said all that they have spoken.

அவர்களும் அவர்கள் பிள்ளைகளும் என்றென்றைக்கும் நன்றாயிருக்கும்படி, அவர்கள் எந்நாளும் எனக்குப் பயந்து, என் கற்பனைகளையெல்லாம் கைக்கொள்வதற்கேற்ற இருதயம் அவர்களுக்கு இருந்தால் நலமாயிருக்கும்.

O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!

நீ போய்: உங்கள் கூடாரங்களுக்குத் திரும்பிப்போங்கள் என்று அவர்களுக்குச் சொல்.

Go say to them, Get you into your tents again.

நீயோ இங்கே என்னிடத்தில் நில்; நான் அவர்களுக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுக்கும் தேசத்தில் அவர்கள் செய்யும்படி நீ அவர்களுக்குப் போதிக்கவேண்டிய சகல கற்பனைகளையும் கட்டளைகளையும் நியாயங்களையும் உனக்குச் சொல்லுவேன் என்றார்.

But as for thee, stand thou here by me, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which thou shalt teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it.

உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்குக் கற்பித்தபடியே செய்ய சாவதானமாயிருங்கள்; வலதுபுறம் இடதுபுறம் சாயாதிருப்பீர்களாக.

Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.

நீங்கள் சுதந்தரிக்கும் தேசத்திலே பிழைத்து சுகித்து நீடித்திருக்கும்படி, உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்கு விதித்த வழிகளெல்லாவற்றிலும் நடக்கக்கடவீர்கள்.

Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess.

உபாகமம் அத்தியாயம் 6

நீ உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்து, உயிரோடிருக்கும் நாளெல்லாம், நீயும் உன் குமாரனும் உன் குமாரத்தியும், நான் உனக்கு விதிக்கிற அவருடைய எல்லாக் கற்பனைகளையும் கட்டளைகளையும் கைக்கொள்ளுகிறதினாலே உன் வாழ்நாட்கள் நீடித்திருக்கும்படி,

Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:

நீங்கள் சுதந்தரிக்கப்போகிற தேசத்திலே கைக்கொள்வதற்காக, உங்களுக்குப் போதிக்கவேண்டும் என்று உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் கற்பித்த கற்பனைகளும் கட்டளைகளும் நியாயங்களும் இவைகளே.

That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.

இஸ்ரவேலே, நீ நன்றாயிருப்பதற்கும், உன் பிதாக்களின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குச் சொன்னபடி, பாலும் தேனும் ஓடுகிற தேசத்தில் நீ மிகவும் விருத்தியடைவதற்கும், அவைகளுக்குச் செவிகொடுத்து, அவைகளின்படி செய்யச் சாவதானமாயிரு.

Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.

இஸ்ரவேலே கேள்: நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் ஒருவரே கர்த்தர்.

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

நீ உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரிடத்தில் உன் முழு இருதயத்தோடும், உன் முழு ஆத்துமாவோடும், உன் முழுப் பலத்தோடும் அன்புக்கூருவாயாக.

And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

இன்று நான் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிடுகிற இந்த வார்த்தைகள் உன் இருதயத்தில் இருக்கக்கடவது.

And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

நீ அவைகளை உன் பிள்ளைகளுக்குக் கருத்தாய்ப் போதித்து, நீ உன் வீட்டில் உட்கார்ந்திருக்கிறபோதும், வழியில் நடக்கிறபோதும், படுத்துக்கொள்ளுகிறபோதும், எழுந்திருக்கிறபோதும் அவைகளைக் குறித்துப் பேசி,

And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

அவைகளை உன் கையின்மேல் அடையாளமாகக் கட்டிக்கொள்வாயாக; அவைகள் உன் கண்களுக்கு நடுவே ஞாபக்குறியாய் இருக்கக்கடவது.

And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

அவைகளை உன் வீட்டு நிலைகளிலும், உன் வாசல்களிலும் எழுதுவாயாக.

And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குக் கொடுப்பேன் என்று ஆபிரகாம் ஈசாக்கு யாக்கோபு என்பவர்களாகிய உன் பிதாக்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக் கொடுத்த தேசத்தில் உன்னைப் பிரவேசிக்கப்பண்ணும்போதும், நீ கட்டாத வசதியான பெரிய பட்டணங்களையும்,

And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not,

நீ நிரப்பாத சகல நல்ல வஸ்துக்களாலும் நிரம்பிய வீடுகளையும், நீ வெட்டாமல் வெட்டப்பட்டிருக்கிற துரவுகளையும், நீ நடாத திராட்சத்தோட்டங்களையும் ஒலிவத்தோப்புகளையும், அவர் உனக்குக் கொடுப்பதினால், நீ சாப்பிட்டுத் திருப்தியாகும்போதும்,

And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full;

நீ அடிமைப்பட்டிருந்த வீடாகிய எகிப்துதேசத்திலிருந்து உன்னைப் புறப்படப்பண்ணின கர்த்தரை மறவாதபடிக்கு எச்சரிக்கையாயிரு.

Then beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்து, அவருக்கே ஆராதனைசெய்து, அவருடைய நாமத்தைக்கொண்டே ஆணையிடுவாயாக.

Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.

உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருடைய கோபம் உன்மேல் மூண்டு, உன்னைப் பூமியில் வைக்காமல் அழித்துப்போடாதபடிக்கு, உங்களைச் சுற்றிலும் இருக்கிற ஜனங்களின் தேவர்களாகிய அந்நிய தேவர்களைப் பின்பற்றாதிருப்பீர்களாக.

Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you;

உன் நடுவிலிருக்கிற உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் எரிச்சலுள்ள தேவனாயிருக்கிறாரே.

(For the LORD thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.

நீங்கள் மாசாவிலே செய்ததுபோல, உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரைப் பரிட்சை பாராதிருப்பீர்களாக.

Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.

உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்குக் கற்பித்த அவருடைய கற்பனைகளையும் அவருடைய சாட்சிகளையும் அவருடைய கட்டளைகளையும் கருத்தாய்க் கைக்கொள்வீர்களாக.

Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.

நீ நன்றாயிருக்கிறதற்கும், கர்த்தர் உன் பிதாக்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக் கொடுத்த நல்ல தேசத்தில் நீ பிரவேசித்து, அதைச் சுதந்தரிப்பதற்கும்,

And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of the LORD: that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers,

கர்த்தர் தாம் சொன்னபடி, உன் சத்துருக்களையெல்லாம் உன் முகத்திற்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்திவிடுவதற்கும், நீ கர்த்தருடைய பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையும் நன்மையுமாய் இருக்கிறதைச் செய்வாயாக.

To cast out all thine enemies from before thee, as the LORD hath spoken.

நாளைக்கு உன் புத்திரன்: நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்ட இந்த சாட்சிகளும் கட்டளைகளும் நியாயங்களும் என்ன என்று உன்னிடத்தில் கேட்டால்;

And when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD our God hath commanded you?

நீ உன் புத்திரனை நோக்கி: நாங்கள் எகிப்திலே பார்வோனுக்கு அடிமைகளாயிருந்தோம்; கர்த்தர் பலத்த கையினாலே எங்களை எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணினார்.

Then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh's bondmen in Egypt; and the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand:

கர்த்தர் எங்கள் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக, எகிப்தின்மேலும் பார்வோன் மேலும் அவன் குடும்பம் அனைத்தின்மேலும் கொடிதான பெரிய அடையாளங்களையும் அற்புதங்களையும் விளங்கப்பண்ணி,

And the LORD shewed signs and wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes:

தாம் நம்முடைய பிதாக்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக் கொடுத்த தேசத்துக்கு எங்களை அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், அதை நமக்குக் கொடுக்கும்படி எங்களை அவ்விடத்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணினார்.

And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers.

இந்நாளில் இருக்கிறதுபோல, நம்மை அவர் உயிரோடே காப்பதற்கும், எந்நாளும் நன்றாயிருக்கிறதற்கும், நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்து இந்த எல்லாக் கட்டளைகளின்படியேயும் செய்யக் கர்த்தர் நமக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டார்.

And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.

நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் நமக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே நாம் அவர் சமூகத்தில் இந்த எல்லாக் கட்டளைகளின்படியும் செய்யச் சாவதானமாயிருந்தால், நமக்கு நீதியாயிருக்கும் என்று சொல்வாயாக.

And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.

யோவான் அத்தியாயம் 12

பஸ்கா பண்டிகை வர ஆறுநாளைக்கு முன்னே இயேசு தாம் மரணத்திலிருந்து எழுப்பின லாசரு இருந்த பெத்தானியாவுக்கு வந்தார்.

Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

அங்கே அவருக்கு இராவிருந்துபண்ணினார்கள்; மார்த்தாள் பணிவிடை செய்தாள்; லாசருவும் அவருடனேகூடப் பந்தியிருந்தவர்களில் ஒருவனாயிருந்தான்.

There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.

அப்பொழுது மரியாள் விலையேறப்பெற்ற களங்கமில்லாத நளதம் என்னும் தைலத்தில் ஒரு இராத்தல் கொண்டுவந்து, அதை இயேசுவின் பாதங்களில் பூசி, தன் தலைமயிரால் அவருடைய பாதங்களைத் துடைத்தாள்; அந்த வீடு முழுவதும் தைலத்தின் பரிமளத்தினால் நிறைந்தது.

Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

அப்பொழுது அவருடைய சீஷரில் ஒருவனும் அவரைக் காட்டிகொடுக்கப்போகிறவனுமாகிய சீமோனுடைய குமாரனான யூதாஸ்காரியோத்து:

Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him,

இந்தத் தைலத்தை முந்நூறு பணத்துக்கு விற்று, தரித்திரருக்குக் கொடாமல் போனதென்ன என்றான்.

Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?

அவன் தரித்திரரைக்குறித்துக் கவலைப்பட்டு இப்படிச் சொல்லாமல், அவன் திருடனானபடியினாலும், பணப்பையை வைத்துக்கொண்டு அதிலே போடப்பட்டதைச் சுமக்கிறவனானபடியினாலும் இப்படிச் சொன்னான்.

This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

அப்பொழுது இயேசு: இவளை விட்டுவிடு, என்னை அடக்கம்பண்ணும் நாளுக்காக இதை வைத்திருந்தாள்.

Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.

தரித்திரர் எப்பொழுதும் உங்களிடத்தில் இருக்கிறார்கள்; நான் எப்பொழுதும் உங்களிடத்தில் இரேன் என்றார்.

For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

அப்பொழுது யூதரில் திரளான ஜனங்கள் அவர் அங்கேயிருக்கிறதை அறிந்து, இயேசுவினிமித்தமாகமாத்திரம் அல்ல, அவர் மரித்தோரிலிருந்தெழுப்பின லாசருவைக் காணும்படியாகவும் வந்தார்கள்.

Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

லாசருவினிமித்தமாக யூதர்களில் அநேகர் போய், இயேசுவினிடத்தில் விசுவாசம்வைத்தபடியால்,

But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;

பிரதான ஆசாரியர்கள் லாசருவையும் கொலைசெய்ய ஆலோசனைபண்ணினார்கள்.

Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.

மறுநாளிலே இயேசு எருசலேமுக்கு வருகிறாரென்று பண்டிகைக்கு வந்த திரளான ஜனங்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டு,

On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

குருத்தோலைகளைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு, அவருக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோகும்படி புறப்பட்டு: ஓசன்னா, கர்த்தருடைய நாமத்தினாலே வருகிற இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா ஸ்தோத்திரிக்கப்பட்டவர் என்று ஆர்ப்பரித்தார்கள்.

Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

அல்லாமலும்: சீயோன் குமாரத்தியே, பயப்படாதே, உன் ராஜா கழுதைக்குட்டியின்மேல் ஏறிவருகிறார் என்று எழுதியிருக்கிறபிரகாரமாக,

And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,

இயேசு ஒரு கழுதைக்குட்டியைக் கண்டு அதின்மேல் ஏறிப்போனார்.

Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.

இவைகளை அவருடைய சீஷர்கள் துவக்கத்திலே அறியவில்லை. இயேசு மகிமையடைந்த பின்பு, இப்படி அவரைக்குறித்து எழுதியிருக்கிறதையும், தாங்கள் இப்படி அவருக்குச் செய்ததையும் நினைவுகூர்ந்தார்கள்.

These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.

அன்றியும் அவருடனேகூட இருந்த ஜனங்கள் அவர் லாசருவைக் கல்லறையிலிருந்து வெளியே வரவழைத்து, அவனை உயிரோடே எழுப்பினாரென்று சாட்சி கொடுத்தார்கள்.

The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.

அப்படிப்பட்ட அற்புதத்தை அவர் செய்தார் என்று ஜனங்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டதினால் அவர்கள் அவருக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோனார்கள்.

For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.

அப்பொழுது பரிசேயர் ஒருவரையொருவர் நோக்கி: நீங்கள் செய்கிறதெல்லாம் வீணென்று அறிகிறதில்லையா? இதோ, உலகமே அவனுக்குப் பின்சென்று போயிற்றே என்றார்கள்.

The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.

பண்டிகையில் ஆராதனை செய்யவந்தவர்களில் சில கிரேக்கர் இருந்தார்கள்.

And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:

அவர்கள் கலிலேயா நாட்டுப் பெத்சாயிதா ஊரானாகிய பிலிப்புவினிடத்தில் வந்து: ஐயா, இயேசுவைக் காண விரும்புகிறோம் என்று அவனைக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்கள்.

The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.

பிலிப்பு வந்து, அதை அந்திரேயாவுக்கு அறிவித்தான்; பின்பு அந்திரேயாவும் பிலிப்புவும் அதை இயேசுவுக்கு அறிவித்தார்கள்.

Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.

அப்பொழுது இயேசு அவர்களை நோக்கி: மனுஷகுமாரன் மகிமைப்படும்படியான வேளை வந்தது.

And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.

மெய்யாகவே மெய்யாகவே நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன், கோதுமை மணியானது நிலத்தில் விழுந்து சாகாவிட்டால் தனித்திருக்கும், செத்ததேயாகில் மிகுந்த பலனைக்கொடுக்கும்.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

தன் ஜீவனைச் சிநேகிக்கிறவன் அதை இழந்துபோவான்; இந்த உலகத்தில் தன் ஜீவனை வெறுக்கிறவனோ அவன் அதை நித்திய ஜீவகாலமாய்க் காத்துக்கொள்ளுவான்.

He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

ஒருவன் எனக்கு ஊழியஞ்செய்கிறவனானால் என்னைப் பின்பற்றக்கடவன், நான் எங்கே இருக்கிறேனோ அங்கே என் ஊழியக்காரனும் இருப்பான்; ஒருவன் எனக்கு ஊழியஞ்செய்தால் அவனைப் பிதாவானவர் கனம்பண்ணுவார்.

If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

இப்பொழுது என் ஆத்துமா கலங்குகிறது, நான் என்ன சொல்லுவேன். பிதாவே, இந்த வேளையினின்று என்னை இரட்சியும் என்று சொல்வேனோ; ஆகிலும், இதற்காகவே இந்த வேளைக்குள் வந்தேன்.

Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

பிதாவே, உமது நாமத்தை மகிமைப்படுத்தும் என்றார். அப்பொழுது: மகிமைப்படுத்தினேன், இன்னமும் மகிமைப்படுத்துவேன் என்கிற சத்தம் வானத்திலிருந்து உண்டாயிற்று.

Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

அங்கே நின்று கொண்டிருந்து, அதைக் கேட்ட ஜனங்கள்: இடிமுழக்கமுண்டாயிற்று என்றார்கள். வேறுசிலர்: தேவதூதன் அவருடனே பேசினான் என்றார்கள்.

The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.

இயேசு அவர்களை நோக்கி: இந்தச் சத்தம் என்னிமித்தம் உண்டாகாமல் உங்கள் நிமித்தமே உண்டாயிற்று.

Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.

இப்பொழுதே இந்த உலகத்துக்கு நியாயத்தீர்ப்பு உண்டாகிறது; இப்பொழுதே இந்த உலகத்தின் அதிபதி புறம்பாகத் தள்ளப்படுவான்.

Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

நான் பூமியிலிருந்து உயர்த்தப்பட்டிருக்கும்போது, எல்லாரையும் என்னிடத்தில் இழுத்துக்கொள்ளுவேன் என்றார்.

And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

தாம் இன்னவிதமான மரணமாய் மரிக்கப்போகிறாரென்பதைக் குறிக்கும்படி இப்படிச் சொன்னார்.

This he said, signifying what death he should die.

ஜனங்கள் அவரை நோக்கி: கிறிஸ்து என்றென்றைக்கும் இருக்கிறார் என்று வேதத்தில் சொல்லியதை நாங்கள் கேட்டிருக்கிறோம், அப்படியிருக்க மனுஷகுமாரன் உயர்த்தப்படவேண்டியதென்று எப்படிச் சொல்லுகிறீர்; இந்த மனுஷகுமாரன் யார் என்றார்கள்.

The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

அதற்கு இயேசு: இன்னும் கொஞ்சக்காலம் ஒளி உங்களிடத்தில் இருக்கும்; இருளில் நீங்கள் அகப்படாதபடிக்கு ஒளி உங்களோடிருக்கையில் நடவுங்கள்; இருளில் நடக்கிறவன் தான் போகிற இடம் இன்னதென்று அறியான்.

Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

ஒளி உங்களோடிருக்கையில் நீங்கள் ஒளியின் பிள்ளைகளாகும்படிக்கு, ஒளியினிடத்தில் விசுவாசமாயிருங்கள் என்றார். இவைகளை இயேசு சொல்லி, அவர்களைவிட்டு மறைந்தார்.

While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.

அவர் இத்தனை அற்புதங்களை அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாகச் செய்திருந்தும், அவர்கள் அவரை விசுவாசிக்கவில்லை.

But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

கர்த்தாவே, எங்கள் மூலமாய்க் கேள்விப்பட்டதை விசுவாசித்தவன் யார்? கர்த்தருடைய புயம் யாருக்கு வெளிப்பட்டது என்று ஏசாயா தீர்க்கதரிசி சொன்ன வசனம் நிறைவேறும்படி இப்படி நடந்தது.

That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

ஆகையால் அவர்கள் விசுவாசிக்கமாட்டாமல்போனார்கள். ஏனெனில் ஏசாயா பின்னும்:

Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

அவர்கள் கண்களினால் காணாமலும், இருதயத்தினால் உணராமலும், குணப்படாமலும் இருக்கும்படிக்கும், நான் அவர்களை ஆரோக்கியமாக்காமல் இருக்கும்படிக்கும், அவர்களுடைய கண்களை அவர் குருடாக்கி, அவர்கள் இருதயத்தைக் கடினமாக்கினார் என்றான்.

He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

ஏசாயா அவருடைய மகிமையைக் கண்டு, அவரைக்குறித்துப் பேசுகிறபோது இவைகளைச் சொன்னான்.

These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

ஆகிலும் அதிகாரிகளிலும் அநேகர் அவரிடத்தில் விசுவாசம்வைத்தார்கள். அப்படியிருந்தும் ஜெப ஆலயத்துக்குப் புறம்பாக்கப்படாதபடி, பரிசேயர்நிமித்தம் அதை அறிக்கைபண்ணாதிருந்தார்கள்.

Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

அவர்கள் தேவனால் வருகிற மகிமையிலும் மனுஷரால் வருகிற மகிமையை அதிகமாய் விரும்பினார்கள்.

For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

அப்பொழுது இயேசு சத்தமிட்டு: என்னிடத்தில் விசுவாசமாயிருக்கிறவன் என்னிடத்தில் அல்ல, என்னை அனுப்பினவரிடத்தில் விசுவாசமாயிருக்கிறான்.

Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

என்னைக் காண்கிறவன் என்னை அனுப்பினவரைக் காண்கிறான்.

And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

என்னிடத்தில் விசுவாசமாயிருக்கிறவனெவனும் இருளில் இராதபடிக்கு, நான் உலகத்தில் ஒளியாக வந்தேன்.

I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

ஒருவன் என் வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டும் விசுவாசியாமற்போனால், அவனை நான் நியாயந்தீர்ப்பதில்லை; நான் உலகத்தை நியாயந்தீர்க்கவராமல், உலகத்தை இரட்சிக்கவந்தேன்.

And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

என்னைத் தள்ளி என் வார்த்தைகளை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளாதவனை நியாயந்தீர்க்கிறதொன்றிருக்கிறது; நான் சொன்ன வசனமே அவனைக் கடைசிநாளில் நியாயந்தீர்க்கும்.

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

நான் சுயமாய்ப் பேசவில்லை, நான் பேசவேண்டியது இன்னதென்றும் உபதேசிக்கவேண்டியது இன்னதென்றும் என்னை அனுப்பின பிதாவே எனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டார்.

For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

அவருடைய கட்டளை நித்திய ஜீவனாயிருக்கிறதென்று அறிவேன்; ஆகையால் நான் பேசுகிறவைகளைப் பிதா எனக்குச் சொன்னபடியே பேசுகிறேன் என்றார்.

And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
