உபாகமம் அத்தியாயம் 1

சேயீர் மலைவழியாய் ஓரேபுக்குப் பதினொரு நாள் பிரயாண தூரத்திலுள்ள காதேஸ்பர்னேயாவிலிருந்து,

These be the words which Moses spake unto all Israel on this side Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain over against the Red sea, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Dizahab.

சூப்புக்கு எதிராகவும், பாரானுக்கும் தோப்பேலுக்கும் லாபானுக்கும் ஆஸரோத்துக்கும் திசாகாபுக்கும் நடுவாகவும் இருக்கிற யோர்தானுக்கு இக்கரையான வனாந்தரத்தின் சமனான வெளியிலே வந்தபோது, மோசே இஸ்ரவேலர் எல்லாரையும் நோக்கிச் சொன்ன வசனங்களாவன:

(There are eleven days' journey from Horeb by the way of mount Seir unto Kadeshbarnea.)

எஸ்போனில் குடியிருந்த எமோரியரின் ராஜாவாகிய சீகோனையும், எத்ரேயின் அருகே அஸ்தரோத்தில் குடியிருந்த பாசானின் ராஜாவாகிய ஓக் என்பவனையும், மோசே முறிய அடித்தபின்பு,

And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spake unto the children of Israel, according unto all that the LORD had given him in commandment unto them;

நாற்பதாம் வருஷம் பதினோராம் மாதம் முதல் தேதியிலே, மோசே இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்குச் சொல்லும்படி தனக்குக் கர்த்தர் விதித்த யாவையும் அவர்களுக்குச் சொன்னான்.

After he had slain Sihon the king of the Amorites, which dwelt in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, which dwelt at Astaroth in Edrei:

யோர்தானுக்கு இப்புறத்திலிருக்கிற மோவாபின் தேசத்தில் மோசே இந்த நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தை விவரித்துக் காண்பிக்கத் தொடங்கி,

On this side Jordan, in the land of Moab, began Moses to declare this law, saying,

ஓரேபிலே நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் நம்மோடே சொன்னது என்னவென்றால்: நீங்கள் இந்த மலையருகே தங்கியிருந்தது போதும்.

The LORD our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:

நீங்கள் திரும்பிப் பிரயாணம் புறப்பட்டு, எமோரியரின் மலைநாட்டிற்கும், அதற்கு அடுத்த எல்லா சமனான வெளிகளிலும் குன்றுகளிலும் பள்ளத்தாக்குகளிலும், தென்திசையிலும் கடலோரத்திலும் இருக்கிற கானானியரின் தேசத்துக்கும், லீபனோனுக்கும், ஐப்பிராத்து நதி என்னும் பெரிய நதிவரைக்கும் போங்கள்.

Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.

இதோ, இந்த தேசத்தை உங்களுக்கு முன்பாக வைத்தேன்; நீங்கள் போய், கர்த்தர் உங்கள் பிதாக்களாகிய ஆபிரகாமுக்கும், ஈசாக்குக்கும், யாக்கோபுக்கும் அவர்களுக்குப் பின்வரும் அவர்கள் சந்ததிக்கும் ஆணையிட்டுக் கொடுத்த அந்த தேசத்தைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள் என்றார்.

Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.

அக்காலத்திலே நான் உங்களை நோக்கி: நான் ஒருவனாக உங்கள் பாரத்தைத் தாங்கக்கூடாது.

And I spake unto you at that time, saying, I am not able to bear you myself alone:

உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உங்களைப் பெருகப்பண்ணினார்; இதோ, இந்நாளில் நீங்கள் வானத்து நட்சத்திரங்களைப்போலத் திரளாயிருக்கிறீர்கள்.

The LORD your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.

நீங்கள் இப்பொழுது இருக்கிறதைப் பார்க்கிலும் ஆயிரமடங்கு அதிகமாகும்படி உங்கள் பிதாக்களின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லியபடியே உங்களை ஆசீர்வதிப்பாராக.

(The LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised you!)

உங்கள் வருத்தத்தையும் பிரயாசத்தையும் வழக்குகளையும் நான் ஒருவனாய்த் தாங்குவது எப்படி?

How can I myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife?

நான் உங்களுக்கு அதிபதிகளை ஏற்படுத்தும்பொருட்டு, உங்கள் கோத்திரங்களில் ஞானமும், விவேகமும், அறிவும் உள்ளவர்கள் என்று பேர்பெற்ற மனிதரைத் தெரிந்துகொள்ளுங்கள் என்று சொன்னேன்.

Take you wise men, and understanding, and known among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you.

நீங்கள் எனக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: நீர் செய்யச்சொன்ன காரியம் நல்லது என்றீர்கள்.

And ye answered me, and said, The thing which thou hast spoken is good for us to do.

ஆகையால் நான் ஞானமும் அறிவுமுள்ள மனிதராகிய உங்கள் கோத்திரங்களின் வம்சபதிகளைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டு, அவர்கள் உங்களுக்குத் தலைவராயிருக்கும்படி, ஆயிரம்பேருக்கு அதிபதிகளாகவும், நூறுபேருக்கு அதிபதிகளாகவும், ஐம்பதுபேருக்கு அதிபதிகளாகவும், பத்துப்பேருக்கு அதிபதிகளாகவும் உங்கள் கோத்திரங்களில் அதிகாரிகளாகவும் ஏற்படுத்தி வைத்தேன்.

So I took the chief of your tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you, captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, and captains over fifties, and captains over tens, and officers among your tribes.

அக்காலத்திலே உங்களுடைய நியாயாதிபதிகளை நான் நோக்கி: நீங்கள் உங்கள் சகோதரரின் வியாச்சியங்களைக் கேட்டு, இருபட்சத்தாராகிய உங்கள் சகோதரருக்கும், அவர்களிடத்தில் தங்கும் அந்நியனுக்கும், நீதியின்படி தீர்ப்புச்செய்யுங்கள்.

And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him.

நியாயத்திலே முகதாட்சிணியம் பாராமல் பெரியவனுக்குச் செவிகொடுப்பதுபோலச் சிறியவனுக்கும் செவிகொடுக்கக்கடவீர்கள்; மனிதன் முகத்திற்குப் பயப்படீர்களாக; நியாயத்தீர்ப்பு தேவனுடையது; உங்களுக்குக் கடினமாயிருக்கும் காரியத்தை என்னிடத்தில் கொண்டு வாருங்கள்; நான் அதைக் கேட்பேன் என்று சொல்லி,

Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God's: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it.

நீங்கள் செய்யவேண்டிய காரியங்கள் யாவையும் அக்காலத்திலே கட்டளையிட்டேன்.

And I commanded you at that time all the things which ye should do.

நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் நமக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே, நாம் ஓரேபைவிட்டுப் பிரயாணம்பண்ணி, எமோரியரின் மலைநாட்டிற்கு நேராக நீங்கள் கண்ட அந்தப் பயங்கரமான பெரிய வனாந்தரவழி முழுவதும் நடந்து வந்து, காதேஸ்பர்னேயாவிலே சேர்ந்தோம்.

And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came to Kadeshbarnea.

அப்பொழுது நான் உங்களை நோக்கி: நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் நமக்குக்கொடுக்கும் எமோரியரின் மலைநாடுமட்டும் வந்து சேர்ந்தீர்கள்.

And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mountain of the Amorites, which the LORD our God doth give unto us.

இதோ, உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் அந்த தேசத்தை உனக்கு முன்பாக வைத்திருக்கிறார்; உன் பிதாக்களுடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குச் சொன்னபடியே, நீ போய் அதைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்; பயப்படாமலும் கலங்காமலும் இரு என்றேன்.

Behold, the LORD thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.

அப்பொழுது நீங்கள் எல்லாரும் என்னிடத்தில் வந்து: நமக்காக அந்த தேசத்தைச் சோதித்துப்பார்க்கவும், நாம் இன்னவழியாக அதில் சென்று, இன்ன பட்டணங்களுக்குப் போகலாம் என்று நமக்கு மறுசெய்தி கொண்டுவரவும், நமக்கு முன்னாக மனிதரை அனுப்புவோம் என்றீர்கள்.

And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come.

அது எனக்கு நன்றாய்க் கண்டது; கோத்திரத்திற்கு ஒருவனாகப் பன்னிரண்டு மனிதரைத் தெரிந்தெடுத்து அனுப்பினேன்.

And the saying pleased me well: and I took twelve men of you, one of a tribe:

அவர்கள் புறப்பட்டு, மலைகளில் ஏறி, எஸ்கோல் பள்ளத்தாக்குமட்டும் போய், அதை வேவுபார்த்து,

And they turned and went up into the mountain, and came unto the valley of Eshcol, and searched it out.

அத்தேசத்துக் கனிகளில் சிலவற்றைத் தங்கள் கையில் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு நம்மிடத்தில் வந்து, நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் நமக்குக் கொடுக்கும் தேசம் நல்ல தேசம் என்று நம்மிடத்தில் சொன்னார்கள்.

And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which the LORD our God doth give us.

அப்படியிருந்தும், நீங்கள் போகமாட்டோம் என்று உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருடைய கட்டளைக்கு விரோதமாக எதிர்த்து,

Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God:

உங்கள் கூடாரங்களில் முறுமுறுத்து: கர்த்தர் நம்மை வெறுத்து, நம்மை அழிக்கும்பொருட்டாக நம்மை எமோரியரின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கும்படி, நம்மை எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணினார்.

And ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because the LORD hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.

நாம் எங்கே போகலாம்; அந்த ஜனங்கள் நம்மைப்பார்க்கிலும் பலவான்களும், நெடியவர்களும், அவர்கள் பட்டணங்கள் பெரியவைகளும், வானத்தையளாவும் மதிலுள்ளவைகளுமாய் இருக்கிறதென்றும், ஏனாக்கியரின் புத்திரரையும் அங்கே கண்டோம் என்றும் நம்முடைய சகோதரர் சொல்லி, நம்முடைய இருதயத்தைக் கலங்கப்பண்ணினார்கள் என்று சொன்னீர்கள்.

Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.

அப்பொழுது நான் உங்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் கலங்காமலும் அவர்களுக்குப் பயப்படாமலும் இருங்கள்.

Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them.

உங்களுக்கு முன் செல்லும் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் தாமே எகிப்தில் உங்களோடிருந்து, உங்கள் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாகச் செய்ததெல்லாவற்றைப்போலவும், வனாந்தரத்தில் செய்துவந்ததுபோலவும், உங்களுக்காக யுத்தம்பண்ணுவார்.

The LORD your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;

ஒரு மனிதன் தன் பிள்ளையைச் சுமந்துகொண்டு போவதுபோல, நீங்கள் இவ்விடத்திற்கு வருகிறவரைக்கும், நடந்துவந்த வழிகள் எல்லாவற்றிலும், உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உங்களைச் சுமந்துகொண்டு வந்ததைக் கண்டீர்களே.

And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the LORD thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.

உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் நீங்கள் பாளயமிறங்கத்தக்க இடத்தைப் பார்க்கவும், நீங்கள் போகவேண்டிய வழியை உங்களுக்குக் காட்டவும்,

Yet in this thing ye did not believe the LORD your God,

இரவில் அக்கினியிலும் பகலில் மேகத்திலும் உங்களுக்குமுன் சென்றாரே. இப்படியிருந்தும், இந்தக் காரியத்தில் நீங்கள் அவரை விசுவாசியாமற்போனீர்கள்.

Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.

ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் உங்கள் வார்த்தைகளின் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்டு, கடுங்கோபங்கொண்டு:

And the LORD heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and sware, saying,

உங்கள் பிதாக்களுக்குக் கொடுப்பேன் என்று நான் ஆணையிட்ட அந்த நல்ல தேசத்தை இந்தப் பொல்லாத சந்ததியாராகிய மனிதரில் ஒருவரும் காண்பதில்லை என்றும்,

Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers,

எப்புன்னேயின் குமாரனாகிய காலேப் மாத்திரம் அதைக் காண்பான்; அவன் கர்த்தரை உத்தமமாய்ப் பின்பற்றினபடியினால், நான் அவன் மிதித்து வந்த தேசத்தை அவனுக்கும் அவன் பிள்ளைகளுக்கும் கொடுப்பேன் என்றும் ஆணையிட்டார்.

Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the LORD.

அன்றியும் உங்கள் நிமித்தம் கர்த்தர் என்மேலும் கோபங்கொண்டு: நீயும் அதில் பிரவேசிப்பதில்லை;

Also the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither.

உனக்கு முன்பாக நிற்கிற நூனின் குமாரனாகிய யோசுவா அதில் பிரவேசிப்பான்; அவனைத் திடப்படுத்து; அவனே அதை இஸ்ரவேலுக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகப் பங்கிடுவான்.

But Joshua the son of Nun, which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.

கொள்ளையாவார்கள் என்று நீங்கள் சொன்ன உங்கள் குழந்தைகளும், இந்நாளிலே நன்மை தீமை அறியாத உங்கள் பிள்ளைகளும் அதில் பிரவேசிப்பார்கள்; அவர்களுக்கு அதைக் கொடுப்பேன்; அவர்கள் அதைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்வார்கள்.

Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.

நீங்களோ திரும்பிக்கொண்டு, சிவந்த சமுத்திரத்தின் வழியாய் வனாந்தரத்திற்குப் பிரயாணப்பட்டுப் போங்கள் என்றார்.

But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.

அப்பொழுது நீங்கள் எனக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாகப் பாவஞ்செய்தோம்; நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் எங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியெல்லாம் நாங்கள் போய் யுத்தம்பண்ணுவோம் என்று சொல்லி, நீங்கள் யாவரும் உங்கள் ஆயுதங்களைத் தரித்துக்கொண்டு, மலையின்மேல் ஏற ஆயத்தமாயிருந்தீர்கள்.

Then ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the LORD, we will go up and fight, according to all that the LORD our God commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill.

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் என்னைப் பார்த்து: நீங்கள் உங்கள் சத்துருக்களுக்கு முன்பாக முறிந்துபோகாதபடிக்கு, போகாமலும் யுத்தம்பண்ணாமலும் இருப்பீர்களாக; நான் உங்கள் நடுவே இரேன் என்று அவர்களுக்குச் சொல் என்றார்.

And the LORD said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.

அப்படியே நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொன்னேன்; நீங்களோ செவிகொடாமல், கர்த்தருடைய கட்டளைக்கு விரோதமாகத் துணிந்து மலையின்மேல் ஏறினீர்கள்.

So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and went presumptuously up into the hill.

அந்த மலையிலே குடியிருந்த எமோரியர் உங்களை எதிர்க்கும்படி புறப்பட்டுவந்து, தேனீக்கள் துரத்துகிறதுபோல உங்களைத் துரத்தி, உங்களைச் சேயீர் தொடங்கி ஓர்மா மட்டும் முறிய அடித்தார்கள்.

And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah.

நீங்கள் திரும்பிவந்து, கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தில் அழுதீர்கள்; கர்த்தர் உங்கள் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்கவில்லை, உங்களுக்குச் செவிகொடுக்கவும் இல்லை.

And ye returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.

இப்படி காதேசிலே தங்கி, அங்கே வெகுநாளாயிருந்தீர்கள்.

So ye abode in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye abode there.

உபாகமம் அத்தியாயம் 2

கர்த்தர் எனக்குச் சொல்லியபடி நாம் திரும்பி, சிவந்த சமுத்திரத்திற்குப் போகிற வழியாய் வனாந்தரத்திற்குப் பிரயாணம்பண்ணி, அநேக நாள் சேயீர் நாட்டை சுற்றித்திரிந்தோம்.

Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as the LORD spake unto me: and we compassed mount Seir many days.

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் என்னை நோக்கி:

And the LORD spake unto me, saying,

நீங்கள் இந்த மலைநாட்டைச் சுற்றித்திரிந்தது போதும்; வடக்கே திரும்புங்கள்.

Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.

ஜனங்களுக்கு நீ கட்டளையிடவேண்டியது என்னவென்றால்: சேயீரிலே குடியிருக்கிற ஏசாவின் புத்திரரான உங்கள் சகோதரரின் எல்லையைக் கடக்கப்போகிறீர்கள்; அவர்கள் உங்களுக்குப் பயப்படுவார்கள்; நீங்களோ மிகவும் எச்சரிக்கையாயிருங்கள்;

And command thou the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore:

அவர்களோடே போர்செய்யவேண்டாம்; அவர்கள் தேசத்திலே ஒரு அடி நிலமும் உங்களுக்குக் கொடேன்; சேயீர் மலைநாட்டை ஏசாவுக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுத்திருக்கிறேன்.

Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.

போஜனபதார்த்தங்களை அவர்கள் கையிலே பணத்திற்கு வாங்கிப் புசித்து, தண்ணீரையும் அவர்கள் கையிலே பணத்திற்கு வாங்கிக் குடியுங்கள்.

Ye shall buy meat of them for money, that ye may eat; and ye shall also buy water of them for money, that ye may drink.

உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உன் கைக்கிரியைகளிலெல்லாம் உன்னை ஆசீர்வதித்து வருகிறார்; இந்தப் பெரிய வனாந்தரவழியாய் நீ நடந்துவருகிறதை அறிவார்; இந்த நாற்பது வருஷமும் உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உன்னோடே இருந்தார்; உனக்கு ஒன்றும் குறைவுபடவில்லை என்று சொல் என்றார்.

For the LORD thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the LORD thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.

அப்படியே நாம் சேயீரிலே குடியிருக்கிற நம்முடைய சகோதரராகிய ஏசாவின் புத்திரரை விட்டுப் புறப்பட்டு, அந்தரவெளி வழியாய் ஏலாத்மேலும், எசியோன்கேபேர்மேலும் போய், திரும்பிக்கொண்டு, மோவாப் வனாந்தரவழியாய் வந்தோம்.

And when we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the plain from Elath, and from Eziongaber, we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் என்னை நோக்கி: நீ மோவாபை வருத்தப்படுத்தாமலும், அவர்களோடே போர்செய்யாமலும் இரு; அவர்கள் தேசத்தில் உனக்கு ஒன்றும் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடேன்; ஆர் என்னும் பட்டணத்தின் சீமையை லோத் புத்திரருக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுத்தேன்.

And the LORD said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give thee of their land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession.

திரளானவர்களும், ஏனாக்கியரைப் போல நெடியவர்களுமான பலத்த ஜனங்களாகிய ஏமியர் அதில் முன்னே குடியிருந்தார்கள்.

The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;

அவர்களும் ஏனாக்கியரையொத்த இராட்சதர் என்று எண்ணப்பட்டார்கள், மோவாபியரோ அவர்களை ஏமியர் என்று சொல்லுகிறார்கள்.

Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites call them Emims.

ஓரியரும் சேயீரில் முன்னே குடியிருந்தார்கள்; கர்த்தர் தங்களுக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுத்த தேசத்தாரை இஸ்ரவேல் துரத்தினதுபோல, ஏசாவின் புத்திரர் அந்த ஓரியரைத் துரத்தி, அவர்களைத் தங்கள் முகத்திற்கு முன்பாக அழித்து, அவர்கள் இருந்த ஸ்தானத்தில் குடியேறினார்கள்.

The Horims also dwelt in Seir beforetime; but the children of Esau succeeded them, when they had destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did unto the land of his possession, which the LORD gave unto them.

நீங்கள் எழுந்து, சேரேத் ஆற்றைக்கடந்து போங்கள் என்று சொன்னார்; அப்படியே சேரேத் ஆற்றைக் கடந்தோம்.

Now rise up, said I, and get you over the brook Zered. And we went over the brook Zered.

யுத்த மனிதரான அந்தச் சந்ததியெல்லாம் கர்த்தர் தங்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டபடியே பாளயத்தின் நடுவிலிருந்து மாண்டுபோக, நாம் காதேஸ்பர்னேயாவை விட்டுப் புறப்பட்டது முதற்கொண்டு, சேரேத் ஆற்றைக் கடக்குமட்டும், சென்ற காலம் முப்பத்தெட்டு வருஷமாயிற்று.

And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.

அவர்கள் பாளயத்தின் நடுவிலிருந்து மாண்டு ஒழியுமட்டும் கர்த்தரின் கை அவர்களை நிர்மூலமாக்கும்படிக்கு அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாயிருந்தது.

For indeed the hand of the LORD was against them, to destroy them from among the host, until they were consumed.

யுத்தமனிதர் எல்லாரும் ஜனத்தின் நடுவிலிருந்து செத்துத் தீர்ந்தபின்பு,

So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,

கர்த்தர் என்னை நோக்கி:

That the LORD spake unto me, saying,

நீ ஆர் பட்டணம் இருக்கிற மோவாபின் எல்லையை இன்றைக்குக் கடந்து,

Thou art to pass over through Ar, the coast of Moab, this day:

அம்மோன் புத்திரருக்கு எதிராகச் சேரப்போகிறாய்; நீ அவர்களை வருத்தப்படுத்தவும் அவர்களோடே போர்செய்யவும் வேண்டாம்; அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் தேசத்தில் ஒன்றும் உனக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடேன்; அதை லோத் புத்திரருக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுத்திருக்கிறேன்.

And when thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, distress them not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon any possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession.

அதுவும் இராட்சதருடைய தேசமாக எண்ணப்பட்டது; முற்காலத்தில் இராட்சதர் அதிலே குடியிருந்தார்கள், அம்மோனியர் அவர்களைச் சம்சூமியர் என்று சொல்லுகிறார்கள்.

(That also was accounted a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims;

அவர்கள் திரளானவர்களும் ஏனாக்கியரைப்போல நெடியவர்களுமான பலத்த ஜனங்களாயிருந்தார்கள்; கர்த்தரோ சேயீரில் குடியிருந்த ஏசாவின் புத்திரருக்கு முன்பாக ஓரியரை அழிக்க, அவர்கள் அந்த ஜனங்களைத் துரத்திவிட்டு, அவர்கள் இருந்த ஸ்தானத்தில் இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் குடியிருக்கிறதுபோலவும்,

A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the LORD destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead:

கப்தோரிலிருந்து புறப்பட்ட கப்தோரியர் ஆசேரீம் தொடங்கி ஆசாமட்டும் குடியிருந்த ஆவியரை அழித்து, அவர்கள் இருந்த ஸ்தானத்திலே குடியேறினது போலவும்,

As he did to the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day:

கர்த்தர் அவர்களை இவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக அழியப்பண்ண, இவர்கள் அவர்களைத் துரத்திவிட்டு, அவர்கள் இருந்த ஸ்தானத்திலே குடியேறினார்கள்.

And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, even unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)

நீங்கள் எழுந்து பிரயாணம்பண்ணி, அர்னோன் ஆற்றைக் கடந்துபோங்கள்; எஸ்போனின் ராஜாவாகிய சீகோன் என்னும் எமோரியனையும் அவன் தேசத்தையும் உன் கையிலே ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தேன்; இதுமுதல் அதைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ளும்படி அவனோடே யுத்தஞ்செய்.

Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.

வானத்தின்கீழ் எங்குமுள்ள ஜனங்கள் உன்னாலே திகிலும் பயமும் அடையும்படி செய்ய இன்று நான் தொடங்குவேன்; அவர்கள் உன் கீர்த்தியைக் கேட்டு, உன்னிமித்தம் நடுங்கி, வேதனைப்படுவார்கள் என்றார்.

This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.

அப்பொழுது நான் கெதெமோத் வனாந்தரத்திலிருந்து எஸ்போனின் ராஜாவாகிய சீகோனிடத்தில், சமாதான வார்த்தைகளைச் சொல்லும்படி ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பி:

And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,

நான் உம்முடைய தேசத்தைக் கடந்துபோகும்படி உத்தரவுகொடும்; வலதுபுறம் இடதுபுறம் சாயாமல் பெரும்பாதை வழியாய் நடப்பேன்.

Let me pass through thy land: I will go along by the high way, I will neither turn unto the right hand nor to the left.

சேயீரில் குடியிருக்கிற ஏசாவின் புத்திரரும், ஆர் பட்டணத்தில் குடியிருக்கிற மோவாபியரும் எனக்குச் செய்ததுபோல, நீரும், நான் யோர்தானைக் கடந்து, எங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் எங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கிற தேசத்தில் சேருமட்டும்,

Thou shalt sell me meat for money, that I may eat; and give me water for money, that I may drink: only I will pass through on my feet;

எனக்குப் புசிக்க ஆகாரத்தையும் குடிக்கத் தண்ணீரையும் கிரயத்துக்குத் தாரும்; நான் கால்நடையாய்க் கடந்து போகமாத்திரம் உத்தரவுகொடும் என்று சொல்லி அனுப்பினேன்.

(As the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, and the Moabites which dwell in Ar, did unto me;) until I shall pass over Jordan into the land which the LORD our God giveth us.

ஆனாலும் தன் தேசத்தைக் கடந்து போகும்படி, எஸ்போனின் ராஜாவாகிய சீகோன் நமக்கு உத்தரவு கொடுக்கவில்லை; இந்நாளில் இருக்கிறதுபோல, உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் அவனை உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கும்படி, அவன் மனதைக் கடினப்படுத்தி, அவன் இருதயத்தை உரங்கொள்ளப்பண்ணியிருந்தார்.

But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the LORD thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day.

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் என்னை நோக்கி: இதோ, சீகோனையும் அவன் தேசத்தையும் உனக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்போகிறேன்; இதுமுதல் அவன் தேசத்தை வசப்படுத்தி, சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள் என்றார்.

And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land.

சீகோன் தன்னுடைய எல்லா ஜனங்களோடுங்கூட நம்மோடே யுத்தம்பண்ணப் புறப்பட்டு, யாகாசிலே வந்தான்.

Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz.

அவனை நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் நமக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; நாம் அவனையும் அவன் குமாரரையும் அவனுடைய சகல ஜனங்களையும் முறிய அடித்து,

And the LORD our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.

அக்காலத்தில் அவன் பட்டணங்களையெல்லாம் பிடித்து, சகல பட்டணங்களிலும் இருந்த ஸ்திரீ புருஷரையும், பிள்ளைகளையும், ஒருவரையும் மீதியாக வைக்காமல் சங்காரம்பண்ணினோம்.

And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:

மிருகஜீவன்களையும் நாம் பிடித்த பட்டணங்களில் கொள்ளையடித்த பொருள்களையுமாத்திரம் நமக்கென்று வைத்துக்கொண்டோம்.

Only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.

அர்னோன் ஆற்றங்கரையில் இருக்கிற ஆரோவேரும் ஆற்றண்டையில் இருக்கிற பட்டணமும் தொடங்கி, கீலேயாத்வரைக்கும் நமக்கு எதிர்த்து நிற்கத்தக்க அரணிப்பான பட்டணம் இருந்ததில்லை, எல்லாவற்றையும் நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் நமக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்.

From Aroer, which is by the brink of the river of Arnon, and from the city that is by the river, even unto Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: the LORD our God delivered all unto us:

அம்மோன் புத்திரருடைய தேசத்தையும், யாபோக் ஆற்றங்கரையிலுள்ள இடங்களையும், மலைகளிலுள்ள பட்டணங்களையும், நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் நமக்கு விலக்கின மற்ற இடங்களையும் சேராமல் விலகிப்போனாய்.

Only unto the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not, nor unto any place of the river Jabbok, nor unto the cities in the mountains, nor unto whatsoever the LORD our God forbad us.

யோவான் அத்தியாயம் 10

மெய்யாகவே, மெய்யாகவே நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்; ஆட்டுத்தொழுவத்துக்குள் வாசல்வழியாய்ப் பிரவேசியாமல், வேறுவழியாய் ஏறுகிறவன் கள்ளனும் கொள்ளைக்காரனுமாயிருக்கிறான்.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

வாசல்வழியாய்ப் பிரவேசிக்கிறவனோ ஆடுகளின் மேய்ப்பனாயிருக்கிறான்.

But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.

வாசலைக் காக்கிறவன் அவனுக்குத் திறக்கிறான்; ஆடுகளும் அவன் சத்தத்துக்குச் செவிகொடுக்கிறது. அவன் தன்னுடைய ஆடுகளைப் பேர்சொல்லிக் கூப்பிட்டு, அவைகளை வெளியே நடத்திக்கொண்டு போகிறான்.

To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

அவன் தன்னுடைய ஆடுகளை வெளியே விட்டபின்பு, அவைகளுக்கு முன்பாக நடந்துபோகிறான், ஆடுகள் அவன் சத்தத்தை அறிந்திருக்கிறபடியினால் அவனுக்குப் பின்செல்லுகிறது.

And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.

அந்நியருடைய சத்தத்தை அறியாதபடியினால் அவைகள் அந்நியனுக்குப் பின்செல்லாமல், அவனை விட்டோடிப்போகும் என்றார்.

And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

இந்த உவமையை இயேசு அவர்களுடனே சொன்னார்; அவர்களோ அவர் சொன்னவைகளின் கருத்தை அறியவில்லை.

This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.

ஆதலால் இயேசு மறுபடியும் அவர்களை நோக்கி: நானே ஆடுகளுக்கு வாசல் என்று மெய்யாகவே மெய்யாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.

எனக்கு முன்னே வந்தவர்களெல்லாரும் கள்ளரும் கொள்ளைக்காரருமாயிருக்கிறார்கள்; ஆடுகள் அவர்களுக்குச் செவிகொடுக்கவில்லை.

All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.

நானே வாசல், என் வழியாய் ஒருவன் உட்பிரவேசித்தால், அவன் இரட்சிக்கப்படுவான், அவன் உள்ளும் புறம்பும் சென்று, மேய்ச்சலைக் கண்டடைவான்.

I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

திருடன் திருடவும் கொல்லவும் அழிக்கவும் வருகிறானேயன்றி வேறொன்றுக்கும் வரான். நானோ அவைகளுக்கு ஜீவன் உண்டாயிருக்கவும், அது பரிபூரணப்படவும் வந்தேன்.

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

நானே நல்ல மேய்ப்பன்: நல்ல மேய்ப்பன் ஆடுகளுக்காகத் தன் ஜீவனைக் கொடுக்கிறான்.

I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

மேய்ப்பனாயிராதவனும், ஆடுகள் தனக்குச் சொந்தமல்லாதவனுமான கூலியாள் ஓநாய் வருகிறதைக் கண்டு ஆடுகளை விட்டு ஓடிப்போகிறான்; அப்பொழுது ஓநாய் ஆடுகளைப்பீறி, அவைகளைச் சிதறடிக்கும்.

But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.

கூலியாள் கூலிக்காக வேலைசெய்கிறவனாகையால் ஓடிப்போகிறான், ஆடுகளுக்காக அவன் கவலைப்படான்.

The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.

நானே நல்ல மேய்ப்பன்; பிதா என்னை அறிந்திருக்கிறதுபோலவும், நான் பிதாவை அறிந்திருக்கிறதுபோலவும்,

I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

நான் என்னுடையவைகளை அறிந்தும் என்னுடையவைகளால் அறியப்பட்டுமிருக்கிறேன்; ஆடுகளுக்காக என் ஜீவனையும் கொடுக்கிறேன்.

As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

இந்தத் தொழுவத்திலுள்ளவைகளல்லாமல் வேறே ஆடுகளும் எனக்கு உண்டு; அவைகளையும் நான் கொண்டுவரவேண்டும், அவைகள் என் சத்தத்துக்குச் செவிகொடுக்கும், அப்பொழுது ஒரே மந்தையும் ஒரே மேய்ப்பனுமாகும்.

And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

நான் என் ஜீவனை மறுபடியும் அடைந்துகொள்ளும்படிக்கு அதைக்கொடுக்கிறபடியினால் பிதா என்னில் அன்பாயிருக்கிறார்.

Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

ஒருவனும் அதை என்னிடத்திலிருந்து எடுத்துக்கொள்ளமாட்டான்; நானே அதைக் கொடுக்கிறேன், அதைக் கொடுக்கவும் எனக்கு அதிகாரம் உண்டு, அதை மறுபடியும் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளவும் எனக்கு அதிகாரம் உண்டு. இந்தக் கட்டளையை என் பிதாவினிடத்தில் பெற்றுக்கொண்டேன் என்றார்.

No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

இந்த வசனங்களினிமித்தம் யூதருக்குள்ளே மறுபடியும் பிரிவினையுண்டாயிற்று.

There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.

அவர்களில் அநேகர்: இவன் பிசாசு பிடித்தவன், பயித்தியக்காரன்; ஏன் இவனுக்குச் செவிகொடுக்கிறீர்கள் என்றார்கள்.

And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?

வேறே சிலர்: இவைகள் பிசாசு பிடித்தவனுடைய வசனங்களல்லவே. குருடருடைய கண்களைப் பிசாசு திறக்கக்கூடுமா என்றார்கள்.

Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?

பின்பு எருசலேமிலே தேவாலயப்பிரதிஷ்டைபண்டிகை வந்தது; மாரிகாலமுமாயிருந்தது.

And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.

இயேசு தேவாலயத்தில் சாலொமோனுடைய மண்டபத்திலே உலாவிக்கொண்டிருந்தார்.

And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.

அப்பொழுது யூதர்கள் அவரைச் சூழ்ந்துகொண்டு: எதுவரைக்கும் எங்கள் ஆத்துமாவுக்குச் சந்தேகம் உண்டாக்குகிறீர், நீர் கிறிஸ்துவானால் எங்களுக்குத் தெளிவாய்ச் சொல்லும் என்றார்கள்.

Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.

இயேசு அவர்களுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: அதை உங்களுக்குச் சொன்னேன், நீங்கள் விசுவாசிக்கவில்லை; என் பிதாவின் நாமத்தினாலே நான் செய்கிற கிரியைகளே என்னைக்குறித்துச் சாட்சிகொடுக்கிறது.

Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.

ஆனாலும், நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொன்னபடியே, நீங்கள் என் மந்தையின் ஆடுகளாயிராதபடியினால் விசுவாசியாமலிருக்கிறீர்கள்.

But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.

என் ஆடுகள் என் சத்தத்திற்குச் செவிகொடுக்கிறது; நான் அவைகளை அறிந்திருக்கிறேன், அவைகள் எனக்குப் பின்செல்லுகிறது.

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

நான் அவைகளுக்கு நித்தியஜீவனைக் கொடுக்கிறேன்; அவைகள் ஒருக்காலும் கெட்டுப்போவதில்லை, ஒருவனும் அவைகளை என் கையிலிருந்து பறித்துக்கொள்ளுவதுமில்லை.

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

அவைகளை எனக்குத் தந்த என் பிதா எல்லாரிலும் பெரியவராயிருக்கிறார்; அவைகளை என் பிதாவின் கையிலிருந்து பறித்துக்கொள்ள ஒருவனாலும் கூடாது.

My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

நானும் பிதாவும் ஒன்றாயிருக்கிறோம் என்றார்.

I and my Father are one.

அப்பொழுது யூதர்கள் மறுபடியும் அவர்மேல் கல்லெறியும்படி, கல்லுகளை எடுத்துக்கொண்டார்கள்.

Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.

இயேசு அவர்களை நோக்கி: நான் என் பிதாவினாலே அநேக நற்கிரியைகளை உங்களுக்குக் காண்பித்தேன், அவைகளில் எந்தக் கிரியையினிமித்தம் என்மேல் கல்லெறிகிறீர்கள் என்றார்.

Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?

யூதர்கள் அவருக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: நற்கிரியையினிமித்தம் நாங்கள் உன்மேல் கல்லெறிகிறதில்லை; நீ மனுஷனாயிருக்க, உன்னை தேவன் என்று சொல்லி, இவ்விதமாக தேவதூஷணஞ்சொல்லுகிறபடியினால் உன்மேல் கல்லெறிகிறோம் என்றார்கள்.

The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

இயேசு அவர்களுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: தேவர்களாயிருக்கிறீர்கள் என்று நான் சொன்னேன் என்பதாய் உங்கள் வேதத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கவில்லையா?

Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?

தேவவசனத்தைப் பெற்றுக்கொண்டவர்களை தேவர்கள் என்று அவர் சொல்லியிருக்க, வேதவாக்கியமும் தவறாததாயிருக்க,

If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

பிதாவினால் பரிசுத்தமாக்கப்பட்டும், உலகத்தில் அனுப்பப்பட்டும் இருக்கிற நான் என்னை தேவனுடைய குமாரன் என்று சொன்னதினாலே தேவதூஷணஞ்சொன்னாய் என்று நீங்கள் சொல்லலாமா?

Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

என் பிதாவின் கிரியைகளை நான் செய்யாதிருந்தால், நீங்கள் என்னை விசுவாசிக்கவேண்டியதில்லை.

If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.

செய்தேனேயானால், நீங்கள் என்னை விசுவாசியாதிருந்தாலும், பிதா என்னிலும் நான் அவரிலும் இருக்கிறதை நீங்கள் அறிந்து விசுவாசிக்கும்படி அந்தக் கிரியைகளை விசுவாசியுங்கள் என்றார்.

But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.

இதினிமித்தம் அவர்கள் மறுபடியும் அவரைப் பிடிக்கத் தேடினார்கள், அவரோ அவர்கள் கைக்குத் தப்பி,

Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,

யோர்தானுக்கு அக்கரையிலே முன்னே யோவான் ஞானஸ்நானங்கொடுத்துக்கொண்டிருந்த இடத்துக்குத் திரும்பிப்போய், அங்கே தங்கினார்.

And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode.

And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true.
