யாக்கோபு தன் குமாரரை அழைத்து: நீங்கள் கூடிவாருங்கள், கடைசி நாட்களில் உங்களுக்கு நேரிடும் காரியங்களை அறிவிப்பேன்.

And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.

யாக்கோபின் குமாரரே, கூடிவந்து கேளுங்கள்; உங்கள் தகப்பனாகிய இஸ்ரவேலுக்குச் செவிகொடுங்கள்.

Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.

ரூபனே, நீ என் சேஷ்டபுத்திரன்; நீ என் சத்துவமும், என் முதற்பெலனுமானவன்; நீ மேன்மையில் பிரதானமும் வல்லமையில் விசேஷமுமானவன்.

Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:

தண்ணீரைப்போல தளம்பினவனே, நீ மேன்மை அடையமாட்டாய்; உன் தகப்பனுடைய மஞ்சத்தின்மேல் ஏறினாய்; நீ அதைத் தீட்டுப்படுத்தினாய்; என் படுக்கையின்மேல் ஏறினானே.

Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.

சிமியோனும், லேவியும் ஏகசகோதரர்; அவர்களுடைய பட்டயங்கள் கொடுமையின் கருவிகள்.

Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations.

என் ஆத்துமாவே, அவர்களுடைய இரகசிய ஆலோசனைக்கு உடன்படாதே; என் மேன்மையே, அவர்கள் கூட்டத்தில் நீ சேராதே; அவர்கள் தங்கள் கோபத்தினாலே ஒரு புருஷனைக் கொன்று, தங்கள் அகங்காரத்தினாலே அரண்களை நிர்மூலமாக்கினார்களே.

O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall.

உக்கிரமான அவர்கள் கோபமும் கொடுமையான அவர்கள் மூர்க்கமும் சபிக்கப்படக்கடவது; யாக்கோபிலே அவர்களைப் பிரியவும், இஸ்ரவேலிலே அவர்களைச் சிதறவும்பண்ணுவேன்.

Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.

யூதாவே, சகோதரரால் புகழப்படுபவன் நீயே; உன் கரம் உன் சத்துருக்களுடைய பிடரியின்மேல் இருக்கும்; உன் தகப்பனுடைய புத்திரர் உன்முன் பணிவார்கள்.

Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father's children shall bow down before thee.

யூதா பாலசிங்கம், நீ இரை கவர்ந்துகொண்டு ஏறிப்போனாய்; என் மகனே, சிங்கம்போலும் கிழச்சிங்கம்போலும் மடங்கிப் படுத்தான்; அவனை எழுப்புகிறவன் யார்?

Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?

சமாதான கர்த்தர் வருமளவும் செங்கோல் யூதாவைவிட்டு நீங்குவதும் இல்லை, நியாயப்பிரமாணிக்கன் அவன் பாதங்களை விட்டு ஒழிவதும் இல்லை; ஜனங்கள் அவரிடத்தில் சேருவார்கள்.

The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

அவன் தன் கழுதைக்குட்டியைத் திராட்சச்செடியிலும், தன் கோளிகைக்கழுதையின் குட்டியை நற்குல திராட்சச்செடியிலும் கட்டுவான்; திராட்சரசத்திலே தன் வஸ்திரத்தையும், திராட்சப்பழங்களின் இரத்தத்திலே தன் அங்கியையும் தோய்ப்பான்.

Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:

அவன் கண்கள் திராட்சரசத்தினால் சிவப்பாயும், அவன் பற்கள் பாலினால் வெண்மையாயும் இருக்கும்.

His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.

செபுலோன் கடல்துறை அருகே குடியிருப்பான்; அவன் கப்பல் துறைமுகமாய் இருப்பான்; அவன் எல்லை சீதோன்வரைக்கும் இருக்கும்.

Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; and he shall be for an haven of ships; and his border shall be unto Zidon.

இசக்கார் இரண்டு பொதியின் நடுவே படுத்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிற பலத்த கழுதை.

Issachar is a strong ass couching down between two burdens:

அவன், இளைப்பாறுதல் நல்லது என்றும், நாடு வசதியானது என்றும் கண்டு, சுமக்கிறதற்குத் தன் தோளைச் சாய்த்து, பகுதிகட்டுகிறவனானான்.

And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.

தாண் இஸ்ரவேல் கோத்திரங்களில் ஒரு கோத்திரமாகி, தன் ஜனத்தை நியாயம் விசாரிப்பான்.

Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.

தாண், குதிரையின்மேல் ஏறியிருக்கிறவன் மல்லாந்து விழும்படியாய் அதின் குதிகாலைக் கடிக்கிறதற்கு வழியில் கிடக்கிற சர்ப்பத்தைப்போலவும், பாதையில் இருக்கிற விரியனைப்போலவும் இருப்பான்.

Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.

கர்த்தாவே, உம்முடைய இரட்சிப்புக்குக் காத்திருக்கிறேன்.

I have waited for thy salvation, O LORD.

காத் என்பவன்மேல் ராணுவக்கூட்டம் பாய்ந்துவிழும்; அவனோ முடிவிலே அதின்மேல் பாய்ந்துவிழுவான்.

Gad, a troop shall overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last.

ஆசேருடைய ஆகாரம் கொழுமையாயிருக்கும்; ராஜாக்களுக்கு வேண்டிய ருசிவர்க்கங்களை அவன் தருவான்.

Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties.

நப்தலி விடுதலைபெற்ற பெண்மான்; இன்பமான வசனங்களை வசனிப்பான்.

Naphtali is a hind let loose: he giveth goodly words.

யோசேப்பு கனிதரும் செடி; அவன் நீர் ஊற்றண்டையிலுள்ள கனிதரும் செடி; அதின் கொடிகள் சுவரின்மேல் படரும்.

Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:

வில்வீரர் அவனை மனமடிவாக்கி, அவன்மேல் எய்து, அவனைப் பகைத்தார்கள்.

The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:

ஆனாலும், அவனுடைய வில் உறுதியாய் நின்றது; அவன் புயங்கள் யாக்கோபுடைய வல்லவரின் கரங்களால் பலத்தன; இதினால் அவன் மேய்ப்பனும் இஸ்ரவேலின் கன்மலையும் ஆனான்.

But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)

உன் தகப்பனுடைய தேவனாலே அப்படியாயிற்று, அவர் உனக்குத் துணையாயிருப்பார்; சர்வவல்லவராலே அப்படியாயிற்று, அவர் உயர வானத்திலிருந்து உண்டாகும் ஆசீர்வாதங்களினாலும், கீழே ஆழத்தில் உண்டாகும் ஆசீர்வாதங்களினாலும், ஸ்தனங்களுக்கும் கர்ப்பங்களுக்கும் உரிய ஆசீர்வாதங்களினாலும் உன்னை ஆசீர்வதிப்பார்.

Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:

உன் தகப்பனுடைய ஆசீர்வாதங்கள் என் பிதாக்களுடைய ஆசீர்வாதங்களுக்கு மேற்பட்டதாயிருந்து, நித்திய பர்வதங்களின் முடிவுமட்டும் எட்டுகின்றன; அவைகள் யோசேப்புடைய சிரசின் மேலும், தன் சகோதரரில் விசேஷித்தவனுடைய உச்சந்தலையின்மேலும் வருவதாக.

The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.

பென்யமீன் பீறுகிற ஓநாய்; காலையில் தன் இரையைப் பட்சிப்பான், மாலையில் தான் கொள்ளையிட்டதைப் பங்கிடுவான் என்றான்.

Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil.

இவர்கள் எல்லாரும் இஸ்ரவேலின் பன்னிரண்டு கோத்திரத்தார்; அவர்களுடைய தகப்பன் அவர்களை ஆசீர்வதிக்கையில், அவர்களுக்குச் சொன்னது இதுதான்; அவனவனுக்குரிய ஆசீர்வாதம் சொல்லி அவனவனை ஆசீர்வதித்தான்.

All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.

பின்னும் அவன் அவர்களை நோக்கி: நான் என் ஜனத்தாரோடே சேர்க்கப்படப்போகிறேன்; ஏத்தியனான எப்பெரோனின் நிலத்திலுள்ள குகையிலே என்னை என் பிதாக்களண்டையிலே அடக்கம் பண்ணுங்கள் என்று கட்டளையிட்டு;

And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,

அந்தக் குகை கானான் தேசத்திலே மம்ரேக்கு எதிராக மக்பேலா என்னப்பட்ட நிலத்தில் இருக்கிறது; அதை நமக்குச் சொந்தக் கல்லறைப் பூமியாயிருக்கும்படி, ஆபிரகாம் ஏத்தியனாகிய எப்பெரோன் கையில் அதற்குரிய நிலத்துடனே வாங்கினார்.

In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace.

அங்கே ஆபிரகாமையும் அவர் மனைவியாகிய சாராளையும் அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்; அங்கே ஈசாக்கையும் அவர் மனைவியாகிய ரெபெக்காளையும் அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்; அங்கே லேயாளையும் அடக்கம்பண்ணினேன்.

There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah.

அந்த நிலமும் அதில் இருக்கிற குகையும் ஏத்தின் புத்திரர் கையில் கொள்ளப்பட்டது என்றான்.

The purchase of the field and of the cave that is therein was from the children of Heth.

யாக்கோபு தன் குமாரருக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டு முடிந்தபின்பு, அவன் தன் கால்களைக் கட்டிலின்மேல் மடக்கிக் கொண்டு ஜீவித்துப்போய், தன் ஜனத்தாரோடே சேர்க்கப்பட்டான்.

And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.

ஆதியாகமம் அத்தியாயம் 50

அப்பொழுது யோசேப்பு தன் தகப்பனுடைய முகத்தின்மேல் விழுந்து, அழுது, அவனை முத்தஞ்செய்தான்.

And Joseph fell upon his father's face, and wept upon him, and kissed him.

பின்பு, தன் தகப்பனுக்குச் சுகந்தவர்க்கமிடும்படி யோசேப்பு தன் ஊழியக்காரராகிய வைத்தியருக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டான்; அப்படியே வைத்தியர் இஸ்ரவேலுக்குச் சுகந்தவர்க்கமிட்டார்கள்.

And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father: and the physicians embalmed Israel.

சுகந்தவர்க்கமிட நாற்பதுநாள் செல்லும்; அப்படியே அந்த நாட்கள் நிறைவேறின. எகிப்தியர் அவனுக்காக எழுபதுநாள் துக்கங்கொண்டாடினார்கள்.

And forty days were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of those which are embalmed: and the Egyptians mourned for him threescore and ten days.

துக்கங்கொண்டாடும் நாட்கள் முடிந்தபின், யோசேப்பு பார்வோனின் குடும்பத்தாரை நோக்கி: உங்கள் கண்களில் எனக்குத் தயவுகிடைத்ததானால், நீங்கள் பார்வோனுடைய காது கேட்க அவருக்கு அறிவிக்கவேண்டியது என்னவென்றால்,

And when the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spake unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,

என் தகப்பனார் என்னை நோக்கி: இதோ, நான் மரணமடையப்போகிறேன்; கானான் தேசத்திலே நான் எனக்காக வெட்டிவைத்திருக்கிற கல்லறையிலே என்னை அடக்கபண்ணுவாயாக என்று என்னிடத்தில் சொல்லி, ஆணையிடுவித்துக்கொண்டார்; நான் அங்கே போய், என் தகப்பனை அடக்கம்பண்ணி வருவதற்கு உத்தரவுகொடுக்க வேண்டிக்கொள்ளுகிறேன் என்று சொல்லுங்கள் என்றான்.

My father made me swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have digged for me in the land of Canaan, there shalt thou bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I will come again.

அதற்குப் பார்வோன்: உன் தகப்பன் உன்னிடத்தில் ஆணையிடுவித்தபடியே, நீ போய், அவரை அடக்கம்பண்ணி வா என்றான்.

And Pharaoh said, Go up, and bury thy father, according as he made thee swear.

அப்படியே யோசேப்பு தன் தகப்பனை அடக்கம்பண்ணப் போனான். பார்வோனுடைய அரமனையிலிருந்த பெரியவர்களாகிய அவனுடைய சகல உத்தியோகஸ்தரும் எகிப்துதேசத்திலுள்ள சகல பெரியோரும்,

And Joseph went up to bury his father: and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt,

யோசேப்பின் வீட்டார் யாவரும், அவன் சகோதரரும், அவன் தகப்பன் வீட்டாரும் அவனோடேகூடப் போனார்கள். தங்கள் குழந்தைகளையும், தங்கள் ஆடுமாடுகளையும் மாத்திரம் கோசேன் நாட்டிலே விட்டுப் போனார்கள்.

And all the house of Joseph, and his brethren, and his father's house: only their little ones, and their flocks, and their herds, they left in the land of Goshen.

இரதங்களும் குதிரைவீரரும் அவனோடே போனதினால், பரிவாரக்கூட்டம் மிகவும் அதிகமாயிருந்தது.

And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen: and it was a very great company.

அவர்கள் யோர்தானுக்கு அக்கரையில் இருக்கிற ஆத்தாத்தின் போர்க்களத்தில் வந்தபோது, அவ்விடத்திலே பெரும் புலம்பலாகப் புலம்பினார்கள். அங்கே தன் தகப்பனுக்காக ஏழுநாள் துக்கங்கொண்டாடினான்.

And they came to the threshingfloor of Atad, which is beyond Jordan, and there they mourned with a great and very sore lamentation: and he made a mourning for his father seven days.

ஆத்தாத்தின் களத்திலே துக்கங்கொண்டாடுகிறதை அத்தேசத்தின் குடிகளாகிய கானானியர் கண்டு: இது எகிப்தியருக்குப் பெரிய துக்கங்கொண்டாடல் என்றார்கள். அதினால் யோர்தானுக்கு அப்பால் இருக்கிற அந்த ஸ்தலத்திற்கு ஆபேல்மிஸ்ராயீம் என்னும் பேர் உண்டாயிற்று.

And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians: wherefore the name of it was called Abelmizraim, which is beyond Jordan.

யாக்கோபின் குமாரர், தங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தபடியே,

And his sons did unto him according as he commanded them:

அவனைக் கானான் தேசத்துக்குக் கொண்டுபோய், ஆபிரகாம் மம்ரேக்கு எதிரே இருக்கிற மக்பேலா என்னும் நிலத்திலே தனக்குச் சொந்தக் கல்லறை பூமியாக ஏத்தியனாகிய எப்பெரோனிடத்தில் வாங்கின நிலத்திலுள்ள குகையிலே அவனை அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a buryingplace of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre.

யோசேப்பு தன் தகப்பனை அடக்கம்பண்ணினபின்பு, அவனும் அவன் சகோதரரும், அவனுடைய தகப்பனை அடக்கம்பண்ணுவதற்கு அவனோடேகூடப் போனவர்கள் யாவரும் எகிப்துக்குத் திரும்பினார்கள்.

And Joseph returned into Egypt, he, and his brethren, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.

தங்கள் தகப்பன் மரணமடைந்ததை யோசேப்பின் சகோதரர் கண்டு: ஒரு வேளை யோசேப்பு நம்மைப் பகைத்து, நாம் அவனுக்குச் செய்த எல்லாப் பொல்லாங்குக்காகவும் நமக்குச் சரிக்குச் சரிக்கட்டுவான் என்று சொல்லி, யோசேப்பினிடத்தில் ஆள் அனுப்பி,

And when Joseph's brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him.

உம்முடைய சகோதரர் உமக்குப் பொல்லாங்கு செய்திருந்தாலும், அவர்கள் செய்த துரோகத்தையும் பாதகத்தையும் நீர் தயவுசெய்து மன்னிக்கவேண்டும் என்று உம்முடைய தகப்பனார் மரணமடையுமுன்னே, உமக்குச் சொல்லும்படி கட்டளையிட்டார்.

And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command before he died, saying,

ஆகையால், உம்முடைய தகப்பனாருடைய தேவனுக்கு ஊழியக்காரராகிய நாங்கள் செய்த துரோகத்தை மன்னிக்கவேண்டும் என்று அவனுக்குச் சொல்லச் சொன்னார்கள். அவர்கள் அதை யோசேப்புக்குச் சொன்னபோது, அவன் அழுதான்.

So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.

பின்பு, அவனுடைய சகோதரரும் போய், அவனுக்கு முன்பாகத் தாழவிழுந்து: இதோ, நாங்கள் உமக்கு அடிமைகள் என்றார்கள்.

And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants.

யோசேப்பு அவர்களை நோக்கி: பயப்படாதிருங்கள்; நான் தேவனா;

And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?

நீங்கள் எனக்குத் தீமைசெய்ய நினைத்தீர்கள்; தேவனோ, இப்பொழுது நடந்துவருகிறபடியே, வெகு ஜனங்களை உயிரோடே காக்கும்படிக்கு, அதை நன்மையாக முடியப்பண்ணினார்.

But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

ஆதலால், பயப்படாதிருங்கள்; நான் உங்களையும் உங்கள் குழந்தைகளையும் பராமரிப்பேன் என்று, அவர்களுக்கு ஆறுதல் சொல்லி, அவர்களோடே பட்சமாய்ப் பேசினான்.

Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.

யோசேப்பும் அவன் தகப்பன் குடும்பத்தாரும் எகிப்திலே குடியிருந்தார்கள். யோசேப்பு நூற்றுப்பத்து வருஷம் உயிரோடிருந்தான்.

And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father's house: and Joseph lived an hundred and ten years.

யோசேப்பு எப்பிராயீமுக்குப் பிறந்த மூன்றாம் தலைமுறைப் பிள்ளைகளையும் கண்டான்; மனாசேயின் குமாரனாகிய மாகீரின் பிள்ளைகளும் யோசேப்பின் மடியில் வளர்க்கப்பட்டார்கள்.

And Joseph saw Ephraim's children of the third generation: the children also of Machir the son of Manasseh were brought up upon Joseph's knees.

யோசேப்பு தன் சகோதரரை நோக்கி: நான் மரணமடையப்போகிறேன்; ஆனாலும் தேவன் உங்களை நிச்சயமாய்ச் சந்தித்து, நீங்கள் இந்தத் தேசத்தை விட்டு, தாம் ஆபிரகாமுக்கும் ஈசாக்குக்கும் யாக்கோபுக்கும் ஆணையிட்டுக் கொடுத்திருக்கிற தேசத்துக்குப் போகப்பண்ணுவார் என்று சொன்னதுமன்றி;

And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

தேவன் உங்களைச் சந்திக்கும்போது, என் எலும்புகளை இவ்விடத்திலிருந்து கொண்டுபோவீர்களாக என்றும் சொல்லி; யோசேப்பு இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரிடத்தில் ஆணையிடுவித்துக்கொண்டான்.

And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence.

யோசேப்பு நூற்றுப்பத்து வயதுள்ளவனாய் மரித்தான். அவனுக்குச் சுகந்தவர்க்கமிட்டு, எகிப்து தேசத்தில் அவனை ஒரு பெட்டியிலே வைத்துவைத்தார்கள்.

So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.

விடியற்காலமானபோது, சகல பிரதான ஆசாரியரும் ஜனத்தின் மூப்பரும், இயேசுவைக் கொலைசெய்யும்படி, அவருக்கு விரோதமாக ஆலோசனைபண்ணி,

When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:

அவரைக் கட்டி, கொண்டுபோய், தேசாதிபதியாகிய பொந்தியுபிலாத்துவினிடத்தில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்கள்.

And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.

அப்பொழுது, அவரைக் காட்டிக்கொடுத்த யூதாஸ், அவர் மரணாக்கினைக்குள்ளாகத் தீர்க்கப்பட்டதைக் கண்டு, மனஸ்தாபப்பட்டு, அந்த முப்பது வெள்ளிக்காசைப் பிரதான ஆசாரியரிடத்திற்கும் மூப்பரிடத்திற்கும் திரும்பக்கொண்டுவந்து:

Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,

குற்றமில்லாத இரத்தத்தை நான் காட்டிக்கொடுத்ததினால் பாவஞ்செய்தேன் என்றான். அதற்கு அவர்கள்: எங்களுக்கென்ன, அது உன்பாடு என்றார்கள்.

Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.

அப்பொழுது, அவன் அந்த வெள்ளிக்காசை தேவாலயத்திலே எறிந்துவிட்டு, புறப்பட்டுப்போய், நான்றுகொண்டு செத்தான்.

And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

பிரதான ஆசாரியர் அந்த வெள்ளிக்காசை எடுத்து: இது இரத்தக்கிரயமானதால், காணிக்கைப் பெட்டியிலே இதைப் போடலாகாதென்று சொல்லி,

And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.

ஆலோசனைபண்ணினபின்பு, அந்நியரை அடக்கம்பண்ணுவதற்குக் குயவனுடைய நிலத்தை அதினாலே கொண்டார்கள்.

And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.

இதினிமித்தம் அந்த நிலம் இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் இரத்தநிலம் என்னப்படுகிறது.

Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.

இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரால் மதிக்கப்பட்டவருக்குக் கிரயமாகிய முப்பது வெள்ளிக்காசை அவர்கள் எடுத்து,

Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;

கர்த்தர் எனக்குக் கற்பித்தபடி குயவனுடைய நிலத்திற்காக அதைக் கொடுத்தார்கள் என்று எரேமியா தீர்க்கதரிசியால் உரைக்கப்பட்டது அப்பொழுது நிறைவேறிற்று.

And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.

இயேசு தேசாதிபதிக்கு முன்பாக நின்றார்; தேசாதிபதி அவரை நோக்கி: நீ யூதருடைய ராஜாவா என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு இயேசு: நீர் சொல்லுகிறபடிதான் என்றார்.

And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.

பிரதான ஆசாரியரும் மூப்பரும் அவர்மேல் குற்றஞ்சாட்டுகையில், அவர் மாறுத்தரம் ஒன்றும் சொல்லவில்லை.

And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.

அப்பொழுது, பிலாத்து அவரை நோக்கி: இவர்கள் உன்மேல் எத்தனையோ குற்றங்களைச் சாட்டுகிறார்களே, நீ அவைகளைக் கேட்கவில்லையா என்றான்.

Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?

அவரோ ஒரு வார்த்தையும் மாறுத்தரமாகச் சொல்லவில்லை; அதனால் தேசாதிபதி மிகவும் ஆச்சரியப்பட்டான்.

And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.

காவல்பண்ணப்பட்டவர்களில் எவனை விடுதலையாக்கவேண்டுமென்று ஜனங்கள் கேட்டுக்கொள்ளுவார்களோ, அவனை அவர்களுக்காக விடுதலையாக்குவது பண்டிகைதோறும் தேசாதிபதிக்கு வழக்கமாயிருந்தது.

Now at that feast the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would.

அப்பொழுது காவல்பண்ணப்பட்டவர்களில் பரபாஸ் என்னப்பட்ட பேர்போன ஒருவன் இருந்தான்.

And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.

பொறாமையினாலே அவரை ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்கள் என்று பிலாத்து அறிந்து,

Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?

அவர்கள் கூடியிருக்கையில், அவர்களை நோக்கி: எவனை நான் உங்களுக்கு விடுதலையாக்கவேண்டுமென்றிருக்கிறீர்கள்? பரபாசையோ? கிறிஸ்து என்னப்படுகிற இயேசுவையோ? என்று கேட்டான்.

For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.

அவன் நியாயாசனத்தில் உட்கார்ந்திருக்கையில், அவனுடைய மனைவி அவனிடத்தில் ஆளனுப்பி: நீர் அந்த நீதிமானை ஒன்றும் செய்யவேண்டாம்; அவர்நிமித்தம் இன்றைக்குச் சொப்பனத்தில் வெகு பாடுபட்டேன் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னாள்.

When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.

பரபாசை விட்டுவிடக் கேட்டுக்கொள்ளவும், இயேசுவைக் கொலைசெய்விக்கவும் பிரதான ஆசாரியரும் மூப்பரும் ஜனங்களை ஏவிவிட்டார்கள்.

But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.

தேசாதிபதி ஜனங்களை நோக்கி: இவ்விருவரில் எவனை நான் உங்களுக்கு விடுதலையாக்கவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவர்கள்: பரபாசை என்றார்கள்.

The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.

பிலாத்து அவர்களை நோக்கி: அப்படியானால், கிறிஸ்து என்னப்பட்ட இயேசுவை நான் என்ன செய்யவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டான். அவனைச் சிலுவையில் அறையவேண்டும் என்று எல்லாரும் சொன்னார்கள்.

Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.

தேசாதிபதியோ: ஏன், என்ன பொல்லாப்புச் செய்தான் என்றான். அதற்கு அவர்கள்: அவனைச் சிலுவையில் அறையவேண்டும் என்று அதிகமதிகமாய்க் கூக்குரலிட்டுச் சொன்னார்கள்.

And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.

கலகம் அதிகமாகிறதேயல்லாமல் தன் பிரயத்தனத்தினாலே பிரயோஜனமில்லையென்று பிலாத்து கண்டு, தண்ணீரை அள்ளி, ஜனங்களுக்கு முன்பாகக் கைகளைக் கழுவி: இந்த நீதிமானுடைய இரத்தப்பழிக்கு நான் குற்றமற்றவன், நீங்களே பார்த்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள் என்றான்.

When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.

அதற்கு ஜனங்களெல்லாரும்: இவனுடைய இரத்தப்பழி எங்கள்மேலும் எங்கள் பிள்ளைகள்மேலும் இருப்பதாக என்று சொன்னார்கள்.

Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.

அப்பொழுது, அவன் பரபாசை அவர்களுக்கு விடுதலையாக்கி, இயேசுவையோ வாரினால் அடிப்பித்து, சிலுவையில் அறையும்படிக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தான்.

Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

அப்பொழுது, தேசாதிபதியின் போர்ச்சேவகர் இயேசுவைத் தேசாதிபதியின் அரமனையிலே கொண்டுபோய், போர்ச்சேவகரின் கூட்டம் முழுவதையும் அவரிடத்தில் கூடிவரச்செய்து,

Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.

அவர் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கழற்றி, சிவப்பான மேலங்கியை அவருக்கு உடுத்தி,

And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.

முள்ளுகளால் ஒரு முடியைப்பின்னி, அவர் சிரசின்மேல் வைத்து, அவர் வலதுகையில் ஒரு கோலைக் கொடுத்து, அவர் முன்பாக முழங்காற்படியிட்டு: யூதருடைய ராஜாவே, வாழ்க என்று அவரைப் பரியாசம்பண்ணி,

And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!

அவர்மேல் துப்பி, அந்தக் கோலை எடுத்து, அவரைச் சிரசில் அடித்தார்கள்.

And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.

அவரைப் பரியாசம்பண்ணினபின்பு, அவருக்கு உடுத்தின மேலங்கியைக் கழற்றி, அவருடைய வஸ்திரங்களை அவருக்கு உடுத்தி, அவரைச் சிலுவையில் அறையும்படி கொண்டுபோனார்கள்.

And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.

போகையில், சிரேனே ஊரானாகிய சீமோன் என்னப்பட்ட ஒரு மனுஷனை அவர்கள் கண்டு, அவருடைய சிலுவையைச் சுமக்கும்படி அவனைப் பலவந்தம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.

கபாலஸ்தலம் என்று அர்த்தங்கொள்ளும் கொல்கொதா என்னும் இடத்துக்கு அவர்கள் வந்தபோது,

And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,

கசப்புக்கலந்த காடியை அவருக்குக் குடிக்கக் கொடுத்தார்கள்; அவர் அதை ருசிபார்த்து, குடிக்க மனதில்லாதிருந்தார்.

They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.

அவரைச் சிலுவையில் அறைந்தபின்பு, அவர்கள் சீட்டுப்போட்டு அவருடைய வஸ்திரங்களைப் பங்கிட்டுக் கொண்டார்கள். என் வஸ்திரங்களைத் தங்களுக்குள்ளே பங்கிட்டு, என் உடையின்பேரில் சீட்டுப்போட்டார்கள் என்று தீர்க்கதரிசியால் உரைக்கப்பட்டது நிறைவேறும்படி இப்படி நடந்தது.

And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

அவர்கள் அங்கே உட்கார்ந்து, அவரைக் காவல்காத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

And sitting down they watched him there;

அன்றியும் அவர் அடைந்த ஆக்கினையின் முகாந்தரத்தைக் காண்பிக்கும்பொருட்டு, இவன் யூதருடைய ராஜாவாகிய இயேசு என்று எழுதி, அவர் சிரசுக்கு மேலாகவைத்தார்கள்.

And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

அப்பொழுது, அவருடைய வலதுபக்கத்தில் ஒருவனும் அவருடைய இடதுபக்கத்தில் ஒருவனுமாக இரண்டு கள்ளர் அவரோடேகூடச் சிலுவைகளில் அறையப்பட்டார்கள்.

Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.

அந்த வழியாய் நடந்துபோகிறவர்கள் தங்கள் தலைகளைத் துலுக்கி:

And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,

தேவாலயத்தை இடித்து, மூன்று நாளைக்குள்ளே கட்டுகிறவனே, உன்னை நீயே இரட்தித்துக்கொள்; நீ தேவனுடைய குமாரனானால் சிலுவையிலிருந்து இறங்கிவா என்று அவரைத் தூஷித்தார்கள்.

And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.

அப்படியே பிரதான ஆசாரியரும் வேதபாரகரும் மூப்பரும் பரியாசம்பண்ணி:

Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,

மற்றவர்களை இரட்சித்தான்; தன்னைத்தான் இரட்சித்துக்கொள்ளத் திராணியில்லை; இவன் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவானால் இப்பொழுது சிலுவையிலிருந்து இறங்கிவரட்டும், அப்பொழுது இவனை விசுவாசிப்போம்.

He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.

தன்னைத் தேவனுடைய குமாரனென்று சொல்லி, தேவன்மேல் நம்பிக்கையாயிருந்தானே; அவர் இவன்மேல் பிரியமாயிருந்தால் இப்பொழுது இவனை இரட்சிக்கட்டும் என்றார்கள்.

He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

அவரோடேகூடச் சிலுவைகளில் அறையப்பட்ட கள்ளரும் அந்தப்படியே அவரை நிந்தித்தார்கள்.

The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.

ஆறாம்மணி நேரமுதல் ஒன்பதாம்மணி நேரம்வரைக்கும் பூமியெங்கும் அந்தகாரம் உண்டாயிற்று.

Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.

ஒன்பதாம்மணி நேரத்தில் இயேசு: ஏலீ! ஏலீ! லாமா சபக்தானி, என்று மிகுந்த சத்தமிட்டுக் கூப்பிட்டார்; அதற்கு என் தேவனே! என் தேவனே! ஏன் என்னைக் கைவிட்டீர் என்று அர்த்தமாம்.

And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

அங்கே நின்றவர்களில் சிலர் அதைக்கேட்டபொழுது: இவன் எலியாவைக் கூப்பிடுகிறான் என்றார்கள்.

Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.

உடனே அவர்களில் ஒருவன் ஓடி. கடற்காளானை எடுத்து, காடியில் தோய்த்து, அதை ஒரு கோலில் மாட்டி. அவருக்குக் குடிக்கக் கொடுத்தான்.

And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.

மற்றவர்களோ: பொறு, எலியா இவனை இரட்சிக்க வருவானோ, பார்ப்போம் என்றார்கள்.

The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.

இயேசு, மறுபடியும் மகா சத்தமாய்க் கூப்பிட்டு, ஆவியை விட்டார்.

Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

அப்பொழுது, தேவாலயத்தின் திரைச்சீலை மேல்தொடங்கிக் கீழ்வரைக்கும் இரண்டாகக் கிழிந்தது, பூமியும் அதிர்ந்தது, கன்மலைகளும் பிளந்தது.

And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

கல்லறைகளும் திறந்தது, நித்திரையடைந்திருந்த அநேக பரிசுத்தவான்களுடைய சரீரங்களும் எழுந்திருந்தது.

And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

அவர் உயிர்த்தெழுந்தபின்பு, இவர்கள் கல்லறைகளைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டு, பரிசுத்த நகரத்தில் பிரவேசித்து, அநேகருக்குக் காணப்பட்டார்கள்.

And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

நூற்றுக்கு அதிபதியும், அவனோடேகூட இயேசுவைக் காவல்காத்திருந்தவர்களும், பூமியதிரிச்சியையும் சம்பவித்த காரியங்களையும் கண்டு, மிகவும் பயந்து: மெய்யாகவே இவர் தேவனுடைய குமாரன் என்றார்கள்.

Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

மேலும், இயேசுவுக்கு ஊழியஞ்செய்யும்படி கலிலேயாவிலிருந்து அவரோடே வந்திருந்த அநேக ஸ்திரீகள் அங்கே தூரத்திலே நின்று பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him:

அவர்களுக்குள்ளே மகதலேனா மரியாளும், யாக்கோபுக்கும், யோசேக்கும் தாயாகிய மரியாளும், செபெதேயுவின் குமாரருடைய தாயும் இருந்தார்கள.

Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's children.

சாயங்காலமானபோது, இயேசுவுக்குச் சீஷனும் ஐசுவரியவானுமாயிருந்த யோசேப்பு என்னும் பேர்கொண்ட அரிமத்தியா ஊரானாகிய ஒரு மனுஷன் வந்து,

When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:

பிலாத்துவினிடத்தில் போய், இயேசுவின் சரீரத்தைக் கேட்டான். அப்பொழுது, சரீரத்தைக் கொடுக்கும்படி பிலாத்து கட்டளையிட்டான்.

He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.

யோசேப்பு அந்தச் சரீரத்தை எடுத்து, துய்யதான மெல்லிய துப்பட்டியிலே சுற்றி,

And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,

தான் கன்மலையில் வெட்டியிருந்த தன்னுடைய புதிய கல்லறையிலே அதை வைத்து, கல்லறையின் வாசலில் ஒரு பெரிய கல்லைப் புரட்டிவைத்துப்போனான்.

And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.

அங்கே மகதலேனா மரியாளும் மற்ற மரியாளும் கல்லறைக்கு எதிராக உட்கார்ந்திருந்தார்கள்.

And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.

ஆயத்தநாளுக்குப் பின்னான மறுநாளிலே பிரதானஆசாரியரும் பரிசேயரும் பிலாத்துவினிடத்தில் கூடிவந்து:

Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,

ஆண்டவனே, அந்த எத்தன் உயிரோடிருக்கும்போது, மூன்று நாளைக்குப்பின் எழுந்திருப்பேன் என்று சொன்னது எங்களுக்கு ஞாபகமிருக்கிறது.

Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.

ஆகையால், அவனுடைய சீஷர்கள் இராத்திரியிலே வந்து, அவனைக் களவாய்க் கொண்டுபோய், மரித்தோரிலிருந்து எழுந்தானென்று ஜனங்களுக்குச் சொல்லாதபடிக்கும், முந்தின எத்தைப்பார்க்கிலும் பிந்தின எத்து கொடிதாகாதபடிக்கும், நீர் மூன்றுநாள்வரைக்கும் கல்லறையைப் பத்திரப்படுத்தும்படி கட்டளையிடவேண்டும் என்றார்கள்.

Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.

அதற்குப் பிலாத்து: உங்களுக்குக் காவல் சேவகர் உண்டே; போய், உங்களால் கூடியமட்டும் பத்திரப்படுத்திக்கொள்ளுங்கள் என்றான்.

Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.

அவர்கள் போய்க் கல்லுக்கு முத்திரைபோட்டு, காவல்வைத்து, கல்லறையைப் பத்திரப்படுத்தினார்கள்.

So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.
