ஆதியாகமம் அத்தியாயம் 47

யோசேப்பு பார்வோனிடத்தில் போய்: என் தகப்பனும் என் சகோதரரும், தங்கள் ஆடுமாடுகளோடும் தங்களுக்கு உண்டான எல்லாவற்றோடுங்கூடக் கானான்தேசத்திலிருந்து வந்தார்கள்; இப்பொழுது கோசேன் நாட்டில் இருக்கிறார்கள் என்று சொல்லி;

Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brethren, and their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have, are come out of the land of Canaan; and, behold, they are in the land of Goshen.

தன் சகோதரரில் ஐந்துபேரைப் பார்வோனுக்கு முன்பாகக் கொண்டுபோய் நிறுத்தினான்.

And he took some of his brethren, even five men, and presented them unto Pharaoh.

பார்வோன் அவனுடைய சகோதரரை நோக்கி: உங்கள் தொழில் என்ன என்று கேட்டான்; அதற்கு அவர்கள்: உமது அடியாராகிய நாங்களும் எங்கள் பிதாக்களும் மந்தை மேய்க்கிறவர்கள் என்று பார்வோனிடத்தில் சொன்னதுமன்றி,

And Pharaoh said unto his brethren, What is your occupation? And they said unto Pharaoh, Thy servants are shepherds, both we, and also our fathers.

கானான் தேசத்திலே பஞ்சம் கொடிதாயிருக்கிறது; உமது அடியாரின் மந்தைகளுக்கு மேய்ச்சல் இல்லாமையால், இத்தேசத்திலே தங்கவந்தோம்; உமது அடியாராகிய நாங்கள் கோசேன் நாட்டிலே குடியிருக்கும்படி தயவுசெய்யவேண்டும் என்று வேண்டிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

They said moreover unto Pharaoh, For to sojourn in the land are we come; for thy servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine is sore in the land of Canaan: now therefore, we pray thee, let thy servants dwell in the land of Goshen.

அப்பொழுது பார்வோன் யோசேப்பை நோக்கி: உன் தகப்பனும் உன் சகோதரரும் உன்னிடத்தில் வந்திருக்கிறார்களே.

And Pharaoh spake unto Joseph, saying, Thy father and thy brethren are come unto thee:

எகிப்துதேசம் உனக்கு முன்பாக இருக்கிறது; தேசத்திலுள்ள நல்ல இடத்திலே உன் தகப்பனையும் உன் சகோதரரையும் குடியேறும்படி செய்; அவர்கள் கோசேன் நாட்டிலே குடியிருக்கலாம்; அவர்களுக்குள்ளே திறமையுள்ளவர்கள் உண்டென்று உனக்குத் தெரிந்திருந்தால், அவர்களை என் ஆடுமாடுகளை விசாரிக்கிறதற்குத் தலைவராக வைக்கலாம் என்றான்.

The land of Egypt is before thee; in the best of the land make thy father and brethren to dwell; in the land of Goshen let them dwell: and if thou knowest any men of activity among them, then make them rulers over my cattle.

பின்பு, யோசேப்பு தன் தகப்பனாகிய யாக்கோபை அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவந்து, அவனைப் பார்வோனுக்கு முன்பாக நிறுத்தினான். யாக்கோபு பார்வோனை ஆசீர்வதித்தான்.

And Joseph brought in Jacob his father, and set him before Pharaoh: and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.

பார்வோன் யாக்கோபை நோக்கி: உமக்கு வயது என்ன என்று கேட்டான்.

And Pharaoh said unto Jacob, How old art thou?

அதற்கு யாக்கோபு: நான் பரதேசியாய்ச் சஞ்சரித்த நாட்கள் நூற்றுமுப்பது வருஷம்; என் ஆயுசு நாட்கள் கொஞ்சமும் சஞ்சலமுள்ளதுமாயிருக்கிறது; அவைகள் பரதேசிகளாய்ச் சஞ்சரித்த என் பிதாக்களுடைய ஆயுசு நாட்களுக்கு வந்து எட்டவில்லை என்று பார்வோனுடனே சொன்னான்.

And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are an hundred and thirty years: few and evil have the days of the years of my life been, and have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.

பின்னும் யாக்கோபு பார்வோனை ஆசீர்வதித்து, அவன் சமுகத்தினின்று புறப்பட்டுப்போனான்.

And Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from before Pharaoh.

பார்வோன் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே, யோசேப்பு தன் தகப்பனுக்கும் தன் சகோதரருக்கும் எகிப்துதேசத்திலே நல்ல நாடாகிய ராமசேஸ் என்னும் நாட்டிலே சுதந்திரம் கொடுத்து, அவர்களைக் குடியேற்றினான்.

And Joseph placed his father and his brethren, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.

யோசேப்பு தன் தகப்பனையும் தன் சகோதரரையும் தன் தகப்பனுடைய குடும்பத்தார் அனைவரையும், அவரவர்கள் குடும்பத்திற்குத்தக்கதாய் ஆகாரம் கொடுத்து ஆதரித்துவந்தான்.

And Joseph nourished his father, and his brethren, and all his father's household, with bread, according to their families.

பஞ்சம் மிகவும் கொடிதாயிருந்தது; தேசமெங்கும் ஆகாரம் கிடையாமற்போயிற்று; எகிப்துதேசமும் கானான்தேசமும் பஞ்சத்தினாலே மெலிந்துபோயிற்று.

And there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very sore, so that the land of Egypt and all the land of Canaan fainted by reason of the famine.

யோசேப்பு எகிப்துதேசத்திலும் கானான்தேசத்திலுமுள்ள பணத்தையெல்லாம் தானியம் கொண்டவர்களிடத்தில் வாங்கி, அதைப் பார்வோன் அரமனையிலே கொண்டுபோய்ச் சேர்த்தான்.

And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the corn which they bought: and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house.

எகிப்துதேசத்திலும் கானான்தேசத்திலுமுள்ள பணம் செலவழிந்தபோது, எகிப்தியர் எல்லாரும் யோசேப்பினிடத்தில் வந்து: எங்களுக்கு ஆகாரம் தாரும்; பணம் இல்லை, அதினால் நாங்கள் உமது சமுகத்தில் சாகவேண்டுமோ என்றார்கள்.

And when money failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came unto Joseph, and said, Give us bread: for why should we die in thy presence? for the money faileth.

அதற்கு யோசேப்பு: உங்களிடத்தில் பணம் இல்லாமற்போனால், உங்கள் ஆடுமாடுகளைக் கொடுங்கள்; அவைகளுக்குப் பதிலாக உங்களுக்குத் தானியம் கொடுக்கிறேன் என்றான்.

And Joseph said, Give your cattle; and I will give you for your cattle, if money fail.

அவர்கள் தங்கள் ஆடுமாடு முதலானவைகளை யோசேப்பினிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்; யோசேப்பு குதிரைகளையும் ஆடுகளையும் மாடுகளையும் கழுதைகளையும் வாங்கிக்கொண்டு, அந்த வருஷம் அவர்களுடைய ஆடுமாடு முதலான எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் பதிலாக அவர்களுக்கு ஆகாரம் கொடுத்து, அவர்களை ஆதரித்தான்.

And they brought their cattle unto Joseph: and Joseph gave them bread in exchange for horses, and for the flocks, and for the cattle of the herds, and for the asses: and he fed them with bread for all their cattle for that year.

When that year was ended, they came unto him the second year, and said unto him, We will not hide it from my lord, how that our money is spent; my lord also hath our herds of cattle; there is not ought left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands:

நாங்களும் எங்கள் நிலங்களும் உம்முடைய கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக அழிந்து போகலாமா? நீர் எங்களையும் எங்கள் நிலங்களையும் வாங்கிக்கொண்டு, ஆகாரம் கொடுக்கவேண்டும்; நாங்களும் எங்கள் நிலங்களும் பார்வோனுக்கு ஆதீனமாயிருப்போம்; நாங்கள் சாகாமல் உயிரோடிருக்கவும், நிலங்கள் பாழாய்ப் போகாமலிருக்கவும், எங்களுக்கு விதைத்தானியத்தைத் தாரும் என்றார்கள்.

Wherefore shall we die before thine eyes, both we and our land? buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants unto Pharaoh: and give us seed, that we may live, and not die, that the land be not desolate.

அப்படியே எகிப்தியர் தங்களுக்குப் பஞ்சம் மேலிட்டபடியால் அவரவர் தங்கள் தங்கள் வயல் நிலங்களை விற்றார்கள்; யோசேப்பு எகிப்தின் நிலங்கள் யாவையும் பார்வோனுக்காகக் கொண்டான்; இவ்விதமாய் அந்தப் பூமி பார்வோனுடையதாயிற்று.

And Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians sold every man his field, because the famine prevailed over them: so the land became Pharaoh's.

மேலும் அவன் எகிப்தின் ஒரு எல்லைமுதல் மறு எல்லைவரைக்குமுள்ள ஜனங்களை அந்தந்தப் பட்டணங்களில் குடிமாறிப்போகப்பண்ணினான்.

And as for the people, he removed them to cities from one end of the borders of Egypt even to the other end thereof.

ஆசாரியருடைய நிலத்தை மாத்திரம் அவன் கொள்ளவில்லை; அது பார்வோனாலே ஆசாரியருக்கு மானியமாகக் கொடுக்கப்பட்டிருந்ததினாலும், பார்வோன் அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த மானியத்தினாலே அவர்கள் ஜீவனம் பண்ணிவந்ததினாலும், அவர்கள் தங்கள் நிலத்தை விற்கவில்லை.

Only the land of the priests bought he not; for the priests had a portion assigned them of Pharaoh, and did eat their portion which Pharaoh gave them: wherefore they sold not their lands.

பின்னும் யோசேப்பு ஜனங்களை நோக்கி: இதோ, இன்று உங்களையும் உங்கள் நிலங்களையும் பார்வோனுக்காக வாங்கிக்கொண்டேன்; இதோ, உங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படுகிற விதைத் தானியம், இதை நிலத்தில் விதையுங்கள்.

Then Joseph said unto the people, Behold, I have bought you this day and your land for Pharaoh: lo, here is seed for you, and ye shall sow the land.

விளைவில் ஐந்தில் ஒரு பங்கைப் பார்வோனுக்குக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும்; மற்ற நாலு பங்கும் வயலுக்கு விதையாகவும் உங்களுக்கும் உங்கள் குடும்பத்தாருக்கும் உங்கள் குழந்தைகளுக்கும் ஆகாரமாகவும் உங்களுடையதாயிருக்கட்டும் என்றான்.

And it shall come to pass in the increase, that ye shall give the fifth part unto Pharaoh, and four parts shall be your own, for seed of the field, and for your food, and for them of your households, and for food for your little ones.

அப்பொழுது அவர்கள்: நீர் எங்கள் பிராணனைக் காப்பாற்றினீர்; எங்கள் ஆண்டவனுடைய கண்களில் எங்களுக்குத் தயவு கிடைக்கவேண்டும்; நாங்கள் பார்வோனுக்கு அடிமைகளாயிருக்கிறோம் என்றார்கள்.

And they said, Thou hast saved our lives: let us find grace in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh's servants.

ஐந்தில் ஒன்று பார்வோனுக்குச் சேரும் வாரம் என்று யோசேப்பு இட்ட கட்டளைப்படி எகிப்து தேசத்திலே இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் நடந்துவருகிறது; ஆசாரியரின் நிலம் மாத்திரம் பார்வோனைச் சேராமல் நீங்கலாயிருந்தது.

And Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt unto this day, that Pharaoh should have the fifth part; except the land of the priests only, which became not Pharaoh's.

இஸ்ரவேலர் எகிப்து தேசத்திலுள்ள கோசேன் நாட்டிலே குடியிருந்தார்கள்; அங்கே நிலங்களைக் கையாட்சி செய்து, மிகவும் பலுகிப் பெருகினார்கள்.

And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen; and they had possessions therein, and grew, and multiplied exceedingly.

யாக்கோபு எகிப்து தேசத்திலே பதினேழு வருஷம் இருந்தான்; யாக்கோபுடைய ஆயுசு நாட்கள் நூற்றுநாற்பத்தேழு வருஷம்.

And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years: so the whole age of Jacob was an hundred forty and seven years.

இஸ்ரவேல் மரணமடையும் காலம் சமீபித்தது. அப்பொழுது அவன் தன் குமாரனாகிய யோசேப்பை வரவழைத்து, அவனை நோக்கி: என்மேல் உனக்குத் தயவுண்டானால், உன் கையை என் தொடையின்கீழ் வைத்து என்மேல் பட்சமும் உண்மையுமுள்ளவனாயிரு; என்னை எகிப்திலே அடக்கம் பண்ணாதிருப்பாயாக.

And the time drew nigh that Israel must die: and he called his son Joseph, and said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me; bury me not, I pray thee, in Egypt:

நான் என் பிதாக்களோடே படுத்துக்கொள்ளவேண்டும்; ஆகையால், நீ என்னை எகிப்திலிருந்து எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், அவர்களை அடக்கம்பண்ணியிருக்கிற நிலத்திலே என்னையும் அடக்கம்பண்ணு என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: உமது சொற்படி செய்வேன் என்றான்.

But I will lie with my fathers, and thou shalt carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their buryingplace. And he said, I will do as thou hast said.

அப்பொழுது அவன்: எனக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடு என்றான்; அவனுக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடுத்தான். அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேல் கட்டிலின் தலைமாட்டிலே சாய்ந்து தொழுதுகொண்டான்.

And he said, Swear unto me. And he sware unto him. And Israel bowed himself upon the bed's head.

ஆதியாகமம் அத்தியாயம் 48

அதற்குப்பின்பு, உம்முடைய தகப்பனாருக்கு வருத்தமாயிருக்கிறது என்று யோசேப்புக்குச் சொல்லப்பட்டது. அப்பொழுது அவன் தன் இரண்டு குமாரராகிய மனாசேயையும் எப்பிராயீமையும் தன்னோடேகூடக் கொண்டுபோனான்.

And it came to pass after these things, that one told Joseph, Behold, thy father is sick: and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.

இதோ, உம்முடைய குமாரனாகிய யோசேப்பு உம்மிடத்தில் வந்திருக்கிறார் என்று யாக்கோபுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது; அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேல் தன்னைத்திடப்படுத்திக்கொண்டு, கட்டிலின்மேல் உட்கார்ந்தான்.

And one told Jacob, and said, Behold, thy son Joseph cometh unto thee: and Israel strengthened himself, and sat upon the bed.

யாக்கோபு யோசேப்பை நோக்கி: சர்வவல்லமையுள்ள தேவன் கானான் தேசத்திலுள்ள லூஸ் என்னும் இடத்தில் எனக்குத் தரிசனமாகி, என்னை ஆசீர்வதித்து:

And Jacob said unto Joseph, God Almighty appeared unto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,

நான் உன்னைப் பலுகவும் பெருகவும் பண்ணி, உன்னைப் பல ஜனக்கூட்டமாக்கி, உனக்குப் பின்வரும் உன் சந்ததிக்கு இந்தத் தேசத்தை நித்திய சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுப்பேன் என்று என்னோடே சொன்னார்.

And said unto me, Behold, I will make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, and I will make of thee a multitude of people; and will give this land to thy seed after thee for an everlasting possession.

நான் உன்னிடத்தில் எகிப்துக்கு வருமுன்னே உனக்கு எகிப்துதேசத்தில் பிறந்த உன் இரண்டு குமாரரும் என்னுடைய குமாரர்; ரூபன் சிமியோன் என்பவர்களைப்போல, எப்பிராயீமும் மனாசேயும் என்னுடையவர்கள்.

And now thy two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, which were born unto thee in the land of Egypt before I came unto thee into Egypt, are mine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine.

இவர்களுக்குப்பின், நீ பெறும் பிள்ளைகள் உன்னுடையவர்கள்; அவர்கள் தங்கள் தங்கள் சகோதரருடைய பேரால் அழைக்கப்பட்டு அவர்களுக்குரிய சுதந்தரத்தில் பங்குபெறுவார்கள்.

And thy issue, which thou begettest after them, shall be thine, and shall be called after the name of their brethren in their inheritance.

And as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan in the way, when yet there was but a little way to come unto Ephrath: and I buried her there in the way of Ephrath; the same is Bethlehem.

இஸ்ரவேல் யோசேப்பின் குமாரரைப் பார்த்து: இவர்கள் யார் என்று கேட்டான்.

And Israel beheld Joseph's sons, and said, Who are these?

யோசேப்பு தன் தகப்பனை நோக்கி: இவர்கள் இவ்விடத்தில் தேவன் எனக்கு அருளின குமாரர் என்றான். அப்பொழுது அவன்: நான் அவர்களை ஆசீர்வதிக்கும்படி அவர்களை என் கிட்டக்கொண்டுவா என்றான்.

And Joseph said unto his father, They are my sons, whom God hath given me in this place. And he said, Bring them, I pray thee, unto me, and I will bless them.

முதிர்வயதினால் இஸ்ரவேலின் கண்கள் மங்கலாயிருந்தபடியால், அவன் நன்றாய்ப் பார்க்கக்கூடாதிருந்தது. அவர்களை அவனண்டையிலே சேரப்பண்ணினான்; அப்பொழுது அவன் அவர்களை முத்தஞ்செய்து அணைத்துக்கொண்டான்.

Now the eyes of Israel were dim for age, so that he could not see. And he brought them near unto him; and he kissed them, and embraced them.

இஸ்ரவேல் யோசேப்பை நோக்கி: உன் முகத்தைக் காண்பேன் என்று நான் நினைக்கவில்லை; ஆனாலும், இதோ, உன் சந்ததியையும் காணும்படி தேவன் எனக்கு அருள்செய்தார் என்றான்.

And Israel said unto Joseph, I had not thought to see thy face: and, lo, God hath shewed me also thy seed.

அப்பொழுது அவனுடைய முழங்கால்கள் நடுவே இருந்த பிள்ளைகளை யோசேப்பு பின்னிடப்பண்ணி, அவனுடைய முகத்துக்கு முன்பாகத் தரைமட்டும் குனிந்து வணங்கினான்.

And Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth.

And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel's left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel's right hand, and brought them near unto him.

அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேல், மனமறிய, தன் வலது கையை நீட்டி, இளையவனாகிய எப்பிராயீமுடைய தலையின்மேலும், மனாசே மூத்தவனாயிருந்தும், தன் இடது கையை மனாசேயுடைய தலையின்மேலும் வைத்தான்.

And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the firstborn.

அவன் யோசேப்பை ஆசீர்வதித்து: என் பிதாக்களாகிய ஆபிரகாமும் ஈசாக்கும் வழிபட்டு வணங்கிய தேவனும், நான் பிறந்த நாள்முதல் இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் என்னை ஆதரித்துவந்த தேவனும்,

And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God which fed me all my life long unto this day,

எல்லாத் தீமைக்கும் நீங்கலாக்கி என்னை மீட்ட தூதனுமானவர் இந்தப் பிள்ளைகளை ஆசீர்வதிப்பாராக, என் பேரும் என் பிதாக்களாகிய ஆபிரகாம் ஈசாக்கு என்பவர்களின் பேரும் இவர்களுக்கு இடப்படக்கடவது; பூமியில் இவர்கள் மிகுதியாய்ப் பெருகக்கடவர்கள் என்றான்.

The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.

தகப்பன் தன் வலதுகையை எப்பிராயீமுடைய தலையின்மேல் வைத்ததை யோசேப்பு கண்டு, அது தனக்குப் பிரியமில்லாதபடியால், எப்பிராயீமுடைய தலையின்மேல் இருந்த தன் தகப்பனுடைய கையை மனாசேயினுடைய தலையின்மேல் வைக்கும்படிக்கு எடுத்து:

And when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him: and he held up his father's hand, to remove it from Ephraim's head unto Manasseh's head.

And Joseph said unto his father, Not so, my father: for this is the firstborn; put thy right hand upon his head.

And his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it: he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.

And he blessed them that day, saying, In thee shall Israel bless, saying, God make thee as Ephraim and as Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before Manasseh.

And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die: but God shall be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers.

Moreover I have given to thee one portion above thy brethren, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.

இயேசு இந்த வசனங்களையெல்லாம் சொல்லி முடித்தபின்பு, அவர் தம்முடைய சீஷரை நோக்கி:

And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples,

இரண்டுநாளைக்குப்பின்பு பஸ்காபண்டிகை வருமென்று அறிவீர்கள்; அப்பொழுது, மனுஷகுமாரன் சிலுவையில் அறையப்படுவதற்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்படுவார் என்றார்.

Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.

அப்பொழுது, பிரதான ஆசாரியரும் வேதபாரகரும் ஜனத்தின் மூப்பரும், காய்பா என்னப்பட்ட பிரதான ஆசாரியனுடைய அரமனையிலே கூடிவந்து,

Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,

இயேசுவைத் தந்திரமாய்ப் பிடித்துக்கொலைசெய்யும்படி ஆலோசனைபண்ணினார்கள்.

And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him.

ஆகிலும் ஜனங்களுக்குள்ளே கலகமுண்டாகாதபடிக்குப் பண்டிகையிலே அப்படிச்செய்யலாகாது என்றார்கள்.

But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people.

இயேசு பெத்தானியாவில் குஷ்டரோகியாயிருந்த சீமோன் வீட்டில் இருக்கையில்,

Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,

ஒரு ஸ்திரீ விலையேறப்பெற்ற பரிமளதைலமுள்ள வெள்ளைக்கல்பரணியைக் கொண்டுவந்து, அவர் போஜனபந்தியிலிருக்கும்போது, அந்தத் தைலத்தை அவர் சிரசின்மேல் ஊற்றினாள்.

There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.

அவருடைய சீஷர்கள் அதைக் கண்டு விசனமடைந்து: இந்த வீண்செலவு என்னத்திற்கு?

But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste?

இந்தத் தைலத்தை உயர்ந்த விலைக்கு விற்று, தரித்திரருக்குக் கொடுக்கலாமே என்றார்கள்.

For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.

இயேசு அதை அறிந்து, அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் இந்த ஸ்திரீயை ஏன் தொந்தரவுப்படுத்துகிறீர்கள்? என்னிடத்தில் நற்கிரியையைச் செய்திருக்கிறாள்.

When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.

தரித்திரர் எப்போதும் உங்களிடத்தில் இருக்கிறார்கள்; நானோ எப்போதும் உங்களிடத்தில் இரேன்.

For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.

இவள் இந்தத் தைலத்தை என் சரீரத்தின்மேல் ஊற்றினது என்னை அடக்கம்பண்ணுவதற்கு எத்தனமான செய்கையாயிருக்கிறது.

For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.

இந்தச் சுவிசேஷம் உலகத்தில் எங்கெங்கே பிரசங்கிக்கப்படுமோ அங்கங்கே இவளை நினைப்பதற்காக இவள் செய்ததும் சொல்லப்படும் என்று மெய்யாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.

Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

அப்பொழுது, பன்னிருவரில் ஒருவனாகிய யூதாஸ்காரியோத்து என்பவன் பிரதான ஆசாரியரிடத்திற்குப் போய்:

Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests,

நான் அவரை உங்களுக்குக் காட்டிக்கொடுக்கிறேன், நீங்கள் எனக்கு என்ன கொடுக்கிறீர்கள் என்றான். அவர்கள் அவனுக்கு முப்பது வெள்ளிக்காசைக் கொடுக்க உடன்பட்டார்கள்.

And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.

அதுமுதல் அவன் அவரைக் காட்டிக்கொடுப்பதற்குச் சமயம் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.

And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

புளிப்பில்லாத அப்பப்பண்டிகையின் முதல்நாளிலே, சீஷர்கள் இயேசுவினிடத்தில் வந்து: பஸ்காவைப் புசிப்பதற்கு நாங்கள் எங்கே உமக்கு ஆயத்தம்பண்ணச் சித்தமாயிருக்கிறீர் என்று கேட்டார்கள்.

Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?

அதற்கு அவர்: நீங்கள் நகரத்திலே இன்னானிடத்திற்குப் போய்: என் வேளை சமீபமாயிருக்கிறது, உன் வீட்டிலே என் சீஷரோடேகூடப் பஸ்காவை ஆசரிப்பேன் என்று போதகர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்று அவனுக்குச் சொல்லுங்கள் என்றார்.

And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.

இயேசு கற்பித்தபடி சீஷர்கள் போய், பஸ்காவை ஆயத்தம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.

சாயங்காலமானபோது, பன்னிருவரோடுங்கூட அவர் பந்தியிருந்தார்.

Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.

அவர்கள் போஜனம்பண்ணுகையில், அவர்: உங்களிலொருவன் என்னைக் காட்டிக்கொடுப்பான் என்று மெய்யாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.

And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

அப்பொழுது, அவர்கள் மிகவும் துக்கமடைந்து, அவரை நோக்கி: ஆண்டவரே, நான், நானோ? என்று ஒவ்வொருவராய்க் கேட்கத்தொடங்கினார்கள்.

And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?

அவர் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: என்னோடேகூடத் தாலத்தில் கையிடுகிறவனே என்னைக் காட்டிக்கொடுப்பான்.

And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.

மனுஷகுமாரன் தம்மைக்குறித்து எழுதியிருக்கிறபடியே போகிறார்; ஆகிலும், எந்த மனுஷனால் மனுஷகுமாரன் காட்டிக்கொடுக்கப்படுகிறாரோ, அந்த மனுஷனுக்கு ஐயோ; அந்த மனுஷன் பிறவாதிருந்தானானால் அவனுக்கு நலமாயிருக்கும் என்றார்.

The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.

அவரைக் காட்டிக்கொடுத்த யூதாசும் அவரை நோக்கி: ரபீ, நானோ? என்றான்; அதற்கு அவர்: நீ சொன்னபடிதான் என்றார்.

Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.

And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

இது பாவமன்னிப்புண்டாகும்படி அநேகருக்காகச் சிந்தப்படுகிற புது உடன்படிக்கைக்குரிய என்னுடைய இரத்தமாயிருக்கிறது.

For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

இதுமுதல் இந்தத் திராட்சப்பழரசத்தை நவமானதாய் உங்களோடுகூட என் பிதாவின் ராஜ்யத்திலே நான் பானம்பண்ணும் நாள்வரைக்கும் இதைப் பானம்பண்ணுவதில்லையென்று உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.

But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

அவர்கள் ஸ்தோத்திரப்பாட்டைப்பாடினபின்பு, ஒலிவமலைக்குப் புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள்.

And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

அப்பொழுது, இயேசு அவர்களை நோக்கி: மேய்ப்பனை வெட்டுவேன்; மந்தையின் ஆடுகள் சிதறடிக்கப்படும் என்று எழுதியிருக்கிறபடி, இந்த இராத்திரியிலே நீங்கள் எல்லாரும் என்னிமித்தம் இடறலடைவீர்கள்.

Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

ஆகிலும் நான் உயிர்த்தெழுந்த பின்பு, உங்களுக்கு முன்னே கலிலேயாவுக்குப் போவேன் என்றார்.

But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.

பேதுரு அவருக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: உமது நிமித்தம் எல்லாரும் இடறலடைந்தாலும், நான் ஒருக்காலும் இடறலடையேன் என்றான்.

Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.

இயேசு அவனை நோக்கி: இந்த இராத்திரியிலே சேவல் கூவுகிறதற்கு முன்னே, நீ என்னை மூன்றுதரம் மறுதலிப்பாய் என்று, மெய்யாகவே உனக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.

Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

அதற்குப் பேதுரு: நான் உம்மோடே மரிக்கவேண்டியதாயிருந்தாலும் உம்மை மறுதலிக்கமாட்டேன் என்றான்; சீஷர்கள் எல்லாரும் அப்படியே சொன்னார்கள்.

Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.

அப்பொழுது, இயேசு அவர்களோடே கெத்செமனே என்னப்பட்ட இடத்திற்கு வந்து, சீஷர்களை நோக்கி: நான் அங்கே போய் ஜெபம்பண்ணுமளவும் நீங்கள் இங்கே உட்கார்ந்திருங்கள் என்று சொல்லி;

Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.

பேதுருவையும் செபெதேயுவின் குமாரர் இருவரையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய், துக்கமடையவும் வியாகுலப்படவும் தொடங்கினார்.

And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.

அப்பொழுது, அவர்: என் ஆத்துமா மரணத்துக்கேதுவான துக்கங்கொண்டிருக்கிறது; நீங்கள் இங்கே தங்கி, என்னோடேகூட விழித்திருங்கள் என்று சொல்லி,

Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

நீங்கள் சோதனைக்குட்படாதபடிக்கு விழித்திருந்து ஜெபம்பண்ணுங்கள்; ஆவி உற்சாகமுள்ளதுதான், மாம்சமோ பலவீனமுள்ளது என்றார்.

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

அவர் மறுபடியும் இரண்டாந்தரம் போய்: என் பிதாவே, இந்தப் பாத்திரத்தில் நான் பானம்பண்ணினாலொழிய இது என்னைவிட்டு நீங்கக்கூடாதாகில், உம்முடைய சித்தத்தின்படி ஆகக்கடவது என்று ஜெபம்பண்ணினார்.

He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

அவர் திரும்ப வந்தபோது, அவர்கள் மறுபடியும் நித்திரைபண்ணுகிறதைக் கண்டார்; அவர்களுடைய கண்கள் மிகுந்த நித்திரைமயக்கம் அடைந்திருந்தது.

And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.

அவர் மறுபடியும் அவர்களை விட்டுப்போய், மூன்றாந்தரமும் அந்த வார்த்தைகளையே சொல்லி ஜெபம்பண்ணினார்.

And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

என்னைக் காட்டிக்கொடுக்கிறவன், இதோ, வந்துவிட்டான், எழுந்திருங்கள், போவோம் என்றார்.

Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.

And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.

Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.

உடனே, அவன் இயேசுவினிடத்தில் வந்து: ரபீ, வாழ்க என்று சொல்லி, அவரை முத்தஞ்செய்தான்.

And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.

இயேசு அவனை நோக்கி: சிநேகிதனே, என்னத்திற்காக வந்திருக்கிறாய் என்றார். அப்பொழுது, அவர்கள் கிட்டவந்து, இயேசுவின்மேல் கைபோட்டு, அவரைப் பிடித்தார்கள்.

And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.

அப்பொழுது இயேசுவோடிருந்தவர்களில் ஒருவன் கைநீட்டித் தன் பட்டயத்தை உருவி, பிரதான ஆசாரியனுடைய வேலைக்காரனைக் காதறவெட்டினான்.

And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear.

அப்பொழுது, இயேசு அவனை நோக்கி: உன் பட்டயத்தைத் திரும்ப அதின் உறையிலே போடு; பட்டயத்தை எடுக்கிற யாவரும் பட்டயத்தால் மடிந்துபோவார்கள்.

Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

நான் இப்பொழுது என் பிதாவை வேண்டிக்கொண்டால், அவர் பன்னிரண்டு லேகியோனுக்கு அதிகமான தூதரை என்னிடத்தில் அனுப்பமாட்டாரென்று நினைக்கிறாயா?

Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

அப்படிச் செய்வேனானால், இவ்விதமாய்ச் சம்பவிக்கவேண்டும் என்கிற வேதவாக்கியங்கள் எப்படி நிறைவேறும் என்றார்.

But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?

அந்த வேளையிலே இயேசு ஜனங்களை நோக்கி: கள்ளனைப் பிடிக்கப் புறப்படுகிறதுபோல, நீங்கள் பட்டயங்களையும் தடிகளையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு என்னைப் பிடிக்கவந்தீர்கள்; நான் தினந்தோறும் உங்கள் நடுவிலே உட்கார்ந்து தேவாலயத்தில் உபதேசம்பண்ணிக்கொண்டிருந்தேன்; அப்பொழுது, நீங்கள் என்னைப் பிடிக்கவில்லையே.

In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.

ஆகிலும் தீர்க்கதரிசிகள் எழுதியிருக்கிற வசனங்கள் நிறைவேறும்படி இவைகளெல்லாம் சம்பவிக்கிறது என்றார். அப்பொழுது, சீஷர்களெல்லாரும் அவரைவிட்டு ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.

But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.

இயேசுவைப் பிடித்தவர்கள் அவரைப் பிரதான ஆசாரியனாகிய காய்பாவினிடத்திற்குக் கொண்டுபோனார்கள்; அங்கே வேதபாரகரும் மூப்பரும் கூடிவந்திருந்தார்கள்.

And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.

பேதுரு, தூரத்திலே அவருக்குப் பின்சென்று, பிரதான ஆசாரியனுடைய அரமனைவரைக்கும் வந்து, உள்ளே பிரவேசித்து, முடிவைப் பார்க்கும்படி சேவகரோடே உட்கார்ந்தான்.

But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.

பிரதான ஆசாரியரும் மூப்பரும் சங்கத்தார் யாவரும் இயேசுவைக் கொலைசெய்யும்படி அவருக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பொய்ச்சாட்சி தேடினார்கள்;

Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;

ஒருவரும் அகப்படவில்லை; அநேகர் வந்து பொய்ச்சாட்சி சொல்லியும் அவர்கள் சாட்சி ஒவ்வவில்லை; கடைசியிலே இரண்டு பொய்ச்சாட்சிகள் வந்து:

But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,

தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தை இடித்துப்போடவும், மூன்று நாளைக்குள்ளே அதைக் கட்டவும் என்னாலே ஆகும் என்று இவன் சொன்னான் என்றார்கள்.

And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.

அப்பொழுது, பிரதான ஆசாரியன் எழுந்திருந்து, அவரை நோக்கி: இவர்கள் உனக்கு விரோதமாய்ச் சாட்சிசொல்லுகிறதைக்குறித்து நீ ஒன்றும் சொல்லுகிறதில்லையா என்றான்.

And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?

இயேசுவோ பேசாமலிருந்தார். அப்பொழுது, பிரதான ஆசாரியன் அவரை நோக்கி: நீ தேவனுடைய குமாரனாகிய கிறிஸ்துதானா? அதை எங்களுக்குச் சொல்லும்படி ஜீவனுள்ள தேவன்பேரில் உன்னை ஆணையிட்டுக் கேட்கிறேன் என்றான்.

But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.

அதற்கு இயேசு: நீர் சொன்னபடிதான்; அன்றியும், மனுஷகுமாரன் சர்வவல்லவருடைய வலதுபாரிசத்தில் வீற்றிருப்பதையும் வானத்தின் மேகங்கள்மேல் வருவதையும் இதுமுதல் காண்பீர்களென்று, உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.

Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

அப்பொழுது பிரதான ஆசாரியன் தன் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு: இவன் தேவதூஷணம் சொன்னான்; இனிச் சாட்சிகள் நமக்கு வேண்டியதென்ன? இதோ, இவன் தூஷணத்தை இப்பொழுது கேட்டீர்களே.

Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.

What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.

அப்பொழுது, அவருடைய முகத்தில் துப்பி, அவரைக் குட்டினார்கள்; சிலர் அவரைக் கன்னத்தில் அறைந்து:

Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands,

கிறிஸ்துவே, உம்மை அடித்தவன் யார்? அதை ஞானதிருஷ்டியினால் எங்களுக்குச் சொல்லும் என்றார்கள்.

Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?

அத்தருணத்தில் பேதுரு வெளியே வந்து அரமனை முற்றத்தில் உட்கார்ந்திருந்தான். அப்பொழுது, வேலைக்காரி ஒருத்தி அவனிடத்தில் வந்து: நீயும் கலிலேயனாகிய இயேசுவோடேகூட இருந்தாய் என்றாள்.

Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.

அதற்கு அவன்: நீ சொல்லுகிறது எனக்குத் தெரியாது என்று எல்லாருக்கும் முன்பாக மறுதலித்தான்.

But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.

அவன், வாசல் மண்டபத்திற்குப்போனபொழுது வேறொருத்தி அவனைக் கண்டு: இவனும் நசரேயனாகிய இயேசுவோடேகூட இருந்தான் என்று அங்கே இருந்தவர்களுக்குச் சொன்னான்.

And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.

அவனோ: அந்த மனுஷனை நான் அறியேன் என்று ஆணையிட்டு, மறுபடியும் மறுதலித்தான்.

And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.

சற்றுநேரத்துக்குப்பின்பு அங்கே நின்றவர்கள் பேதுருவினிடத்தில் வந்து: மெய்யாகவே நீயும் அவர்களில் ஒருவன்; உன் பேச்சு உன்னை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறது என்றார்கள்.

And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.

அப்பொழுது அவன்: அந்த மனுஷனை அறியேன் என்று சொல்லி, சபிக்கவும் சத்தியம்பண்ணவும் தொடங்கினான். உடனே சேவல் கூவிற்று.

Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.

அப்பொழுது பேதுரு: சேவல் கூவுகிறதற்குமுன்னே நீ என்னை மூன்றுதரம் மறுதலிப்பாய் என்று இயேசு தன்னிடத்தில் சொன்ன வசனத்தை நினைத்துக்கொண்டு, வெளியே போய், மனங்கசந்து அழுதான்.

And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.
