யோபு அத்தியாயம் 5

இப்போது கூப்பிடும், உமக்கு உத்தரவு கொடுப்பார் உண்டோ பார்ப்போம்? பரிசுத்தவான்களில் யாரை நோக்கிப் பார்ப்பீர்?

Call now, if there be any that will answer thee; and to which of the saints wilt thou turn?

கோபம் நிர்மூடனைக் கொல்லும்; பொறாமை புத்தியில்லாதவனை அதம்பண்ணும்.

For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.

நிர்மூடன் ஒருவன் வேரூன்றுகிறதை நான் கண்டு உடனே அவன் வாசஸ்தலத்தைச் சபித்தேன்.

I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation.

அவன் பிள்ளைகள் இரட்சிப்புக்குத் தூரமாகி, தப்புவிப்பாரில்லாமல், வாசலிலே நொறுக்கப்பட்டார்கள்.

His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.

பசித்தவன் அவன் விளைச்சலை முட்செடிகளுக்குள்ளுமிருந்து பறித்துத் தின்றான்; பறிகாரன் அவன் ஆஸ்தியை விழுங்கினான்.

Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up their substance.

தீங்கு புழுதியிலிருந்து உண்டாகிறதுமில்லை; வருத்தம் மண்ணிலிருந்து முளைக்கிறதுமில்லை.

Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;

அக்கினிப்பொறிகள் மேலே பறக்கிறதுபோல, மனுஷன் வருத்தம் அநுபவிக்கப் பிறந்திருக்கிறான்.

Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.

ஆனாலும் நான் தேவனை நாடி, என் நியாயத்தை தேவனிடத்தில் ஒப்புவிப்பேன்.

I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:

ஆராய்ந்து முடியாத பெரிய காரியங்களையும், எண்ணிமுடியாத அதிசயங்களையும் அவர் செய்கிறார்.

Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:

தாழ்ந்தவர்களை உயரத்தில் வைத்து, துக்கிக்கிறவர்களை இரட்சித்து உயர்த்துகிறார்.

Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields:

அவர் பூமியின்மேல் மழையை வருஷிக்கப்பண்ணி, வெளிநிலங்களின்மேல் தண்ணீர்களை வருவிக்கிறார்.

To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.

தந்திரக்காரரின் கைகள் காரியத்தை முடிய நடத்தக்கூடாதபடிக்கு, அவர்களுடைய உபாயங்களை அவர் அபத்தமாக்குகிறார்.

He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.

அவர் ஞானிகளை அவர்களுடைய தந்திரத்திலே பிடிக்கிறார்; திரியாவரக்காரரின் ஆலோசனை கவிழ்க்கப்படும்.

He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.

அவர்கள் பகற்காலத்திலே அந்தகாரத்துக்குள்ளாகி, மத்தியான வேளையிலே இரவில் தடவுகிறதுபோல தடவித் திரிகிறார்கள்.

They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope in the noonday as in the night.

ஆனாலும் எளியவனை அவர்கள் வாயிலிருக்கிற பட்டயத்துக்கும், பெலவானின் கைக்கும் விலக்கி இரட்சிக்கிறார்.

But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.

அதினால் தரித்திரனுக்கு நம்பிக்கை உண்டு; தீமையானது தன் வாயை மூடும்.

So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.

இதோ, தேவன் தண்டிக்கிற மனுஷன் பாக்கியவான்; ஆகையால் சர்வவல்லவருடைய சிட்சையை அற்பமாக எண்ணாதிரும்.

Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

அவர் காயப்படுத்திக் காயங்கட்டுகிறார்; அவர் அடிக்கிறார், அவருடைய கை ஆற்றுகிறது.

For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.

ஆறு இக்கட்டுகளுக்கு உம்மை நீங்கலாக்குவார்; ஏழாவதிலும் பொல்லாப்பு உம்மைத் தொடாது.

He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

பஞ்சகாலத்திலே அவர் உம்மை மரணத்துக்கும், யுத்தத்திலே பட்டயத்தின் வெட்டுக்கும் விலக்கி மீட்பார்.

In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.

நாவின் சவுக்குக்கும் மறைக்கப்படுவீர்; பாழாக்குதல் வரும்போதும் பயப்படாமலிருப்பீர்.

Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.

பாழாக்குதலையும் பஞ்சத்தையும் பார்த்து நகைப்பீர்; காட்டுமிருகங்களுக்கும் பயப்படாமலிருப்பீர்.

At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.

வெளியின் கல்லுகளோடும் உமக்கு உடன்படிக்கையிருக்கும்; வெளியின் மிருகங்களும் உம்மோடே சமாதானமாயிருக்கும்.

For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.

உம்முடைய கூடாரம் சமாதானத்தோடிருக்கக் காண்பீர்; உம்முடைய வாசஸ்தலத்தை விசாரிக்கும்போது குறைவைக் காணமாட்டீர்.

And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.

உம்முடைய சந்தானம் பெருகி, உம்முடைய சந்ததியார் பூமியின் பூண்டுகளைப்போல இருப்பார்கள் என்பதை அறிந்துகொள்வீர்.

Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.

தானியம் ஏற்றகாலத்திலே அம்பாரத்தில் சேருகிறதுபோல, முதிர்வயதிலே கல்லறையில் சேருவீர்.

Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.

இதோ, நாங்கள் ஆராய்ந்து அறிந்தது இதுதான்; காரியம் இப்படியிருக்கிறது; இதை நீர் கேட்டு உமக்கு நன்மையுண்டாக அறிந்துகொள்ளும் என்றான்.

Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.

யோபு அத்தியாயம் 6

யோபு பிரதியுத்தரமாக:

But Job answered and said,

என் சஞ்சலம் நிறுக்கப்பட்டு, என் நிர்ப்பந்தம் எல்லாம் தராசிலே வைக்கப்பட்டால் நலமாயிருக்கும்.

Oh that my grief were throughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together!

அப்பொழுது அது கடற்கரை மணலைப்பார்க்கிலும் பாரமாயிருக்கும்; ஆகையால் என் துக்கம் சொல்லிமுடியாது.

For now it would be heavier than the sand of the sea: therefore my words are swallowed up.

சர்வவல்லவரின் அம்புகள் எனக்குள் தைத்திருக்கிறது; அவைகளின் விஷம் என் உயிரைக் குடிக்கிறது; தேவனால் உண்டாகும் பயங்கரங்கள் எனக்கு முன்பாக அணியணியாய் நிற்கிறது.

For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me.

புல்லிருக்கிற இடத்திலே காட்டுக்கழுதை கத்துமோ? தனக்குத் தீவனமிருக்கிற இடத்திலே எருது கதறுமோ?

Doth the wild ass bray when he hath grass? or loweth the ox over his fodder?

ருசியில்லாத பதார்த்தத்தை உப்பில்லாமல் சாப்பிடக்கூடுமோ? முட்டையின் வெள்ளைக்கருவில் சுவை உண்டோ?

Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?

உங்கள் வார்த்தைகளை என் ஆத்துமா தொடமாட்டேன் என்கிறது; அவைகள் அரோசிகமான போஜனம்போல் இருக்கிறது.

The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful meat.

ஆ, என் மன்றாட்டு எனக்கு அருளப்பட்டு, நான் வாஞ்சிப்பதை தேவன் எனக்குத் தந்து,

Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for!

தேவன் என்னை நொறுக்கச் சித்தமாய், தம்முடைய கையை நீட்டி என்னைத் துண்டித்துப்போட்டால் நலமாயிருக்கும்.

Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off!

அப்பொழுதாவது எனக்கு ஆறுதல் இருக்குமே; அப்பொழுது என்னைத் தப்பவிடாத நோவிலே மரத்திருப்பேன்; பரிசுத்தருடைய வார்த்தைகளை நான் மறைத்துவைக்கவில்லை, அவர் என்னைத் தப்பவிடாராக.

Then should I yet have comfort; yea, I would harden myself in sorrow: let him not spare; for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One.

நான் காத்துக்கொண்டிருக்க என் பெலன் எம்மாத்திரம்? என் ஜீவனை நீடித்திருக்கப்பண்ண என் முடிவு எப்படிப்பட்டது?

What is my strength, that I should hope? and what is mine end, that I should prolong my life?

என் பெலன் கற்களின் பெலனோ? என் மாம்சம் வெண்கலமோ?

Is my strength the strength of stones? or is my flesh of brass?

எனக்கு உதவியானது ஒன்றும் இல்லையல்லவோ? சகாயம் என்னைவிட்டு நீங்கிற்றே.

Is not my help in me? and is wisdom driven quite from me?

உபாதிக்கப்படுகிறவனுக்கு அவனுடைய சிநேகிதனால் தயை கிடைக்கவேண்டும்; அவனோ சர்வவல்லவருக்குப் பயப்படாதே போகிறான்.

To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty.

என் சகோதரர் காட்டாறுபோல மோசம்பண்ணுகிறார்கள்; ஆறுகளின் வெள்ளத்தைப்போலக் கடந்து போகிறார்கள்.

My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks they pass away;

அவைகள் குளிர்காலப் பனிக்கட்டியினாலும், அதில் விழுந்திருக்கிற உறைந்த மழையினாலும் கலங்கலாகி,

Which are blackish by reason of the ice, and wherein the snow is hid:

உஷ்ணங்கண்டவுடனே உருகி வற்றி, அனல்பட்டவுடனே தங்கள் ஸ்தலத்தில் உருவழிந்து போகின்றன.

What time they wax warm, they vanish: when it is hot, they are consumed out of their place.

அவைகளுடைய வழிகளின் போக்குகள் இங்குமங்கும் பிரியும்; அவைகள் விருதாவிலே பரவி ஒன்றும் இல்லாமற்போகும்.

The paths of their way are turned aside; they go to nothing, and perish.

தேமாவின் பயணக்காரர் தேடி, சேபாவின் பயணக்கூட்டங்கள் அவைகள்மேல் நம்பிக்கை வைத்து,

The troops of Tema looked, the companies of Sheba waited for them.

தாங்கள் இப்படி நம்பினதினாலே வெட்கப்படுகிறார்கள்; அவ்விடமட்டும் வந்து கலங்கிப்போகிறார்கள்.

They were confounded because they had hoped; they came thither, and were ashamed.

அப்படியே நீங்களும் இப்பொழுது ஒன்றுக்கும் உதவாமற்போனீர்கள்; என் ஆபத்தைக் கண்டு பயப்படுகிறீர்கள்.

For now ye are nothing; ye see my casting down, and are afraid.

எனக்கு ஏதாகிலும் கொண்டு வாருங்கள் என்றும், உங்கள் ஆஸ்தியிலிருந்து எனக்கு யாதொரு வெகுமானம் கொடுங்கள் என்றும்;

Did I say, Bring unto me? or, Give a reward for me of your substance?

அல்லது சத்துருவின் கைக்கு என்னைத் தப்புவியுங்கள், வல்லடிக்காரரின் கைக்கு என்னை நீங்கலாக்கி மீட்டுவிடுங்கள் என்றும் நான் சொன்னதுண்டோ?

Or, Deliver me from the enemy's hand? or, Redeem me from the hand of the mighty?

எனக்கு உபதேசம்பண்ணுங்கள், நான் மவுனமாயிருப்பேன்; நான் எதிலே தவறினேனோ அதை எனக்குத் தெரியப்படுத்துங்கள்.

Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.

செம்மையான வார்த்தைகளில் எவ்வளவு வல்லமை உண்டு? உங்கள் கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலினால் காரியம் என்ன?

How forcible are right words! but what doth your arguing reprove?

கடிந்துகொள்ள நீங்கள் வார்த்தைகளை யோசித்து, நம்பிக்கையற்றவனுடைய வார்த்தைகளைக் காற்றிலே விட்டுவிடுகிறீர்களோ?

Do ye imagine to reprove words, and the speeches of one that is desperate, which are as wind?

இப்படிச் செய்து திக்கற்றவன்மேல் நீங்கள் விழுந்து, உங்கள் சிநேகிதனுக்குப் படுகுழியை வெட்டுகிறீர்கள்.

Yea, ye overwhelm the fatherless, and ye dig a pit for your friend.

இப்போதும் உங்களுக்குச் சித்தமானால் என்னை நோக்கிப் பாருங்கள்; அப்பொழுது நான் பொய்சொல்லுகிறேனோ என்று உங்களுக்குப் பிரத்தியட்சமாய் விளங்கும்.

Now therefore be content, look upon me; for it is evident unto you if I lie.

நீங்கள் திரும்புங்கள்; அக்கிரமம் காணப்படாதிருக்கும்; திரும்புங்கள் என் நீதி அதிலே விளங்கும்.

Return, I pray you, let it not be iniquity; yea, return again, my righteousness is in it.

என் நாவிலே அக்கிரமம் உண்டோ? என் வாய் ஆகாதவைகளைப் பகுத்தறியாதோ?

Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things?

யோபு அத்தியாயம் 7

பூமியிலே போராட மனுஷனுக்குக் குறிக்கப்பட்ட காலம் உண்டல்லவோ? அவன் நாட்கள் ஒரு கூலிக்காரன் நாட்களைப்போல் இருக்கிறதல்லவோ?

Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth? are not his days also like the days of an hireling?

ஒரு வேலையாள் நிழலை வாஞ்சித்து, ஒரு கூலிக்காரன் தன் கூலியை வரப்பார்த்திருக்கிறதுபோல,

As a servant earnestly desireth the shadow, and as an hireling looketh for the reward of his work:

மாயையான மாதங்கள் என்னுடைய சுதந்தரமாகி, சஞ்சலமான இராத்திரிகள் எனக்குக் குறிக்கப்பட்டது.

So am I made to possess months of vanity, and wearisome nights are appointed to me.

நான் படுத்துக்கொள்ளுகிறபோது, எப்பொழுது எழுந்திருப்பேன்? இராக்காலம் எப்பொழுது முடியும் என்று சொல்லி, கிழக்கு வெளுக்குமட்டும் அரண்டு புரளுகிறதினால் எனக்குப் போதுமென்றுபோகிறது.

When I lie down, I say, When shall I arise, and the night be gone? and I am full of tossings to and fro unto the dawning of the day.

என் மாம்சம் பூச்சிகளினாலும், அடைபற்றின புழுதியினாலும் மூடப்பட்டிருக்கிறது; என் தோல் வெடித்து அருவருப்பாயிற்று.

My flesh is clothed with worms and clods of dust; my skin is broken, and become loathsome.

என் நாட்கள் நெய்கிறவன் எறிகிற நாடாவிலும் தீவிரமாய் ஓடுகிறது; அவைகள் நம்பிக்கையில்லாமல் முடிந்துபோகும்.

My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, and are spent without hope.

என் பிராணன் காற்றைப்போலிருக்கிறதென்றும், என் கண்கள் இனி நன்மையைக் காணப்போகிறதில்லையென்றும் நினைத்தருளும்.

O remember that my life is wind: mine eye shall no more see good.

இப்போது என்னைக் காண்கிறவர்களின் கண்கள் இனி என்னைக் காண்பதில்லை; உம்முடைய கண்கள் என்மேல் நோக்கமாயிருக்கிறது; நானோ இல்லாமற்போகிறேன்.

The eye of him that hath seen me shall see me no more: thine eyes are upon me, and I am not.

மேகம் பறந்துபோகிறதுபோல, பாதாளத்தில் இறங்குகிறவன் இனி ஏறிவரான்.

As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away: so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more.

இனி தன் வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்பான், அவன் ஸ்தலம் இனி அவனை அறியாது.

He shall return no more to his house, neither shall his place know him any more.

ஆகையால் நான் என் வாயை அடக்காமல், என் ஆவியின் வேதனையினால் பேசி, என் ஆத்துமத்தின் கசப்பினால் அங்கலாய்ப்பேன்.

Therefore I will not refrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.

தேவரீர் என்மேல் காவல் வைக்கிறதற்கு நான் சமுத்திரமோ? நான் ஒரு திமிங்கிலமோ?

Am I a sea, or a whale, that thou settest a watch over me?

என் கட்டில் எனக்கு ஆறுதல் கொடுக்கும் என்றும், என் படுக்கை என் தவிப்பை ஆற்றும் என்றும் நான் சொல்வேனாகில்,

When I say, My bed shall comfort me, my couch shall ease my complaint;

நீர் சொப்பனங்களால் என்னைக் கலங்கப்பண்ணி, தரிசனங்களால் எனக்குத் திகிலுண்டாக்குகிறீர்.

Then thou scarest me with dreams, and terrifiest me through visions:

அதினால் என் ஆத்துமா, நெருக்குண்டு சாகிறதையும், என் எலும்புகளோடே உயிரோடிருக்கிறதைப்பார்க்கிலும், மரணத்தையும் விரும்புகிறது.

So that my soul chooseth strangling, and death rather than my life.

இப்படியிருக்கிறதை அரோசிக்கிறேன்; எந்நாளும் உயிரோடிருக்க விரும்பேன், என்னை விட்டுவிடும்; என் நாட்கள் மாயைதானே.

I loathe it; I would not live alway: let me alone; for my days are vanity.

மனுஷனை நீர் ஒரு பொருட்டாக எண்ணுகிறதற்கும், அவன்மேல் சிந்தை வைக்கிறதற்கும்,

What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him? and that thou shouldest set thine heart upon him?

காலைதோறும் அவனை விசாரிக்கிறதற்கும், நிமிஷந்தோறும் அவனைச் சோதிக்கிறதற்கும், அவன் எம்மாத்திரம்?

And that thou shouldest visit him every morning, and try him every moment?

நான் என் உமிழ்நீரை விழுங்காதபடி எத்தனைகாலம் என்னை நெகிழாமலும், என்னை விடாமலும் இருப்பீர்.

How long wilt thou not depart from me, nor let me alone till I swallow down my spittle?

மன்னுயிரைக்காப்பவரே, பாவஞ்செய்தேனானால் உமக்கு நான் செய்யவேண்டியது என்ன? நான் எனக்குத்தானே பாரமாயிருக்கும்படிக்கு, நீர் என்னை உமக்கு இலக்காக வைத்தது என்ன?

I have sinned; what shall I do unto thee, O thou preserver of men? why hast thou set me as a mark against thee, so that I am a burden to myself?

என் மீறுதலை நீர் மன்னியாமலும், என் அக்கிரமத்தை நீக்காமலும் இருக்கிறது என்ன? இப்பொழுதே மண்ணில் படுத்துக்கொள்வேன்; விடியற்காலத்திலே என்னைத் தேடுவீரானால் நான் இரேன் என்றான்.

And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away mine iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust; and thou shalt seek me in the morning, but I shall not be.

யோபு அத்தியாயம் 8

அப்பொழுது சூகியனான பில்தாத் பிரதியுத்தரமாக:

Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,

நீர் எந்தமட்டும் இப்படிப்பட்டவைகளைப் பேசுவீர்? எதுவரைக்கும் உம்முடைய வாயின் வார்த்தைகள் பலமான காற்றைப்போலிருக்கும்?

How long wilt thou speak these things? and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?

தேவன் நியாயத்தைப் புரட்டுவாரோ? சர்வவல்லவர் நீதியைப் புரட்டுவாரோ?

Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice?

உம்முடைய பிள்ளைகள் அவருக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பாவஞ்செய்திருந்தாலும் அவர்களுடைய பாதகத்தின் ஆக்கினைக்கு அவர்களை அவர் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்திருந்தாலும்,

If thy children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression;

நீர் தேவனை ஏற்கனவே தேடி, சர்வவல்லவரை நோக்கி விண்ணப்பஞ்செய்து,

If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;

சுத்தமும் செம்மையுமாய் இருந்தீரேயானால், அப்பொழுது அவர் உமக்காக விழித்து நீதியுள்ள உம்முடைய வாசஸ்தலத்தைச் சாங்கோபாங்கமாக்குவார்.

If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.

உம்முடைய துவக்கம் அற்பமாயிருந்தாலும், உம்முடைய முடிவு சம்பூரணமாயிருக்கும்.

Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.

ஆகையால், நீர் முந்தின தலைமுறையாரிடத்தில் விசாரித்து, அவர்கள் முன்னோர்களின் செய்தியை ஆராய்ந்துபாரும்.

For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:

நாம் நேற்று உண்டானவர்கள், ஒன்றும் அறியோம்; பூமியின்மேல் நம்முடைய நாட்கள் நிழலைப்போலிருக்கிறது.

(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)

அவர்கள் உமக்கு உபதேசித்து, உமக்குத் தெரிவித்து, தங்கள் இருதயத்திலிருக்கும் நியாயங்களை வெளிப்படுத்துவார்கள் அல்லவோ?

Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?

சேறில்லாமல் நாணல் ஓங்கி வளருமோ? தண்ணீரில்லாமல் கோரைப்புல் முளைக்குமோ?

Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?

அது இன்னும் பச்சையாயிருக்கும்போதே, அறுக்கப்படாதிருந்தும் மற்ற எந்தப் புல்லைப்பார்க்கிலும் சீக்கிரமாய் வாடிப்போம் அல்லவோ?

Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb.

தேவனை மறக்கிற எல்லாருடைய வழிகளும் அப்படியே இருக்கும்; மாயக்காரரின் நம்பிக்கை அழிந்துபோகும்.

So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish:

அவனுடைய வீண் எண்ணம் அற்றுப்போய், அவனுடைய நம்பிக்கை சிலந்திப்பூச்சி வீடுபோலிருக்கும்.

Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider's web.

ஒருவன் அதின் வீட்டின்மேல் சாய்ந்தால், அது நிலைக்கமாட்டாது, அதைப் பிடித்தால், அது நிற்காது.

He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.

வெயில் எரிக்காததற்கு முன்னே அவன் பச்சைச்செடி, அதின் கொடிகள் அவன் தோட்டத்தின்மேலே படரும்;

He is green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden.

அதின் வேர்கள் கற்குவியலில் சிக்கி, கற்பாறையை நாடும்.

His roots are wrapped about the heap, and seeth the place of stones.

அது அதினிடத்தில் இராதபடிக்கு நிர்மூலமானபின், அது இருந்த இடம் உன்னை நான் கண்டதில்லையென்று மறுதலிக்கும்.

If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.

இதோ, அவன் வழியின் மகிழ்ச்சி இப்படியே போகிறது; ஆனாலும் வேறே பேர் மண்ணிலிருந்து முளைப்பார்கள்.

Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow.

இதோ, தேவன் உத்தமனை வெறுக்கிறதுமில்லை, பொல்லாதவர்களுக்குக் கைகொடுக்கிறதுமில்லை.

Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers:

இனி அவர் உம்முடைய வாயை நகைப்பினாலும், உம்முடைய உதடுகளைக் கெம்பீரத்தினாலும் நிரப்புவார்.

Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing.

உம்மைப் பகைக்கிறவர்கள் வெட்கத்தால் மூடப்படுவார்கள்; துன்மார்க்கருடைய கூடாரம் அழிந்துபோகும் என்றான்.

They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.

தேவனுடைய குமாரனாகிய இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவினுடைய சுவிசேஷத்தின் ஆரம்பம்.

The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;

இதோ, நான் என் தூதனை உமக்கு முன்பாக அனுப்புகிறேன், அவன் உமக்கு முன்னே போய், உமக்கு வழியை ஆயத்தம்பண்ணுவான் என்றும்;

As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

கர்த்தருக்கு வழியை ஆயத்தப்படுத்துங்கள், அவருக்குப் பாதைகளைச் செவ்வைபண்ணுங்கள் என்று வனாந்தரத்திலே கூப்பிடுகிறவனுடைய சத்தம் உண்டாகும் என்றும், தீர்க்கதரிசன ஆகமங்களில் எழுதியிருக்கிற பிரகாரமாய்;

The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

யோவான் வனாந்தரத்தில் ஞானஸ்நானங்கொடுத்து, பாவமன்னிப்புக்கென்று மனந்திரும்புதலுக்கேற்ற ஞானஸ்நானத்தைக்குறித்துப் பிரசங்கம்பண்ணிக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.

John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

அப்பொழுது யூதேயா தேசத்தார் அனைவரும் எருசலேம் நகரத்தார் யாவரும், அவனிடத்திற்குப்போய், தங்கள் பாவங்களை அறிக்கையிட்டு, யோர்தான் நதியில் அவனால் ஞானஸ்நானம் பெற்றார்கள்.

And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.

யோவான் ஒட்டகமயிர் உடையைத்தரித்து, தன் அரையில் வார்க்கச்சையைக் கட்டிக்கொண்டவனாயும், வெட்டுக்கிளியையும் காட்டுத்தேனையும் புசிக்கிறவனாயும் இருந்தான்.

And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;

அவன்: என்னிலும் வல்லவர் ஒருவர் எனக்குப்பின் வருகிறார், அவருடைய பாதரட்சைகளின் வாரைக் குனிந்து அவிழ்க்கிறதற்கும் நான் பாத்திரன் அல்ல.

And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.

நான் ஜலத்தினால் உங்களுக்கு ஞானஸ்நானம் கொடுத்தேன்; அவரோ பரிசுத்த ஆவியினால் உங்களுக்கு ஞானஸ்நானம் கொடுப்பார் என்று பிரசங்கித்தான்.

I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

அந்த நாட்களில், இயேசு கலிலேயாவிலுள்ள நாசரேத்தூரிலிருந்து வந்து, யோர்தான் நதியில் யோவானால் ஞானஸ்நானம் பெற்றார்.

And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.

அவர் ஜலத்திலிருந்து கரையேறினவுடனே, வானம் திறக்கப்பட்டதையும், ஆவியானவர் புறாவைப்போல் தம்மேல் இறங்குகிறதையும் கண்டார்.

And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:

அன்றியும், நீர் என்னுடைய நேசகுமாரன், உம்மில் பிரியமாயிருக்கிறேன் என்று, வானத்திலிருந்து ஒரு சத்தம் உண்டாயிற்று.

And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

உடனே ஆவியானவர் அவரை வனாந்தரத்திற்குப் போகும்படி ஏவினார்.

And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness.

அவர் வனாந்தரத்திலே நாற்பதுநாள் இருந்து, சாத்தானால் சோதிக்கப்பட்டு, அங்கே காட்டுமிருகங்களின் நடுவிலே சஞ்சரித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார். தேவதூதர்கள் அவருக்கு ஊழியஞ்செய்தார்கள்.

And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.

யோவான் காவலில் வைக்கப்பட்ட பின்பு, இயேசு கலிலேயாவிலே வந்து, தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யத்தின் சுவிசேஷத்தைப் பிரசங்கித்து:

Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,

காலம் நிறைவேறிற்று, தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யம் சமீபமாயிற்று; மனந்திரும்பி, சுவிசேஷத்தை விசுவாசியுங்கள் என்றார்.

And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

அவர் கலிலேயாக் கடலோரமாய் நடந்துபோகையில், மீன்பிடிக்கிறவர்களாயிருந்த சீமோனும், அவன் சகோதரன் அந்திரேயாவும் கடலில் வலைபோட்டுக்கொண்டிருக்கிறபோது அவர்களைக் கண்டார்.

Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

இயேசு அவர்களை நோக்கி: என் பின்னே வாருங்கள், உங்களை மனுஷரைப் பிடிக்கிறவர்களாக்குவேன் என்றார்.

And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.

உடனே அவர்கள் தங்கள் வலைகளைவிட்டு, அவருக்குப் பின்சென்றார்கள்.

And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him.

அவர் அவ்விடம் விட்டுச் சற்று அப்புறம் போனபோது, செபெதேயுவின் குமாரன் யாக்கோபும் அவன் சகோதரன் யோவானும் படவிலே வலைகளைப் பழுதுபார்த்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறதைக் கண்டு,

And when he had gone a little further thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets.

உடனே அவர்களையும் அழைத்தார்; அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் தங்கள் தகப்பனாகிய செபெதேயுவைக் கூலியாட்களோடு படவிலே விட்டு, அவருக்குப் பின்சென்றார்கள்.

And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him.

பின்பு கப்பர்நகூமுக்குப் போனார்கள். உடனே அவர் ஓய்வுநாளிலே ஜெபஆலயத்திலே பிரவேசித்து, போதகம்பண்ணினார்.

And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.

அவர் வேதபாரகரைப்போலப் போதியாமல், அதிகாரமுடையவராய் அவர்களுக்குப் போதித்தபடியினால் அவருடைய போதகத்தைக்குறித்து ஜனங்கள் ஆச்சரியப்பட்டார்கள்.

And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.

அவர்களுடைய ஜெபஆலயத்திலே அசுத்த ஆவியுள்ள ஒரு மனுஷன் இருந்தான்.

And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,

அவன்: ஐயோ! நசரேயனாகிய இயேசுவே, எங்களுக்கும் உமக்கும் என்ன? எங்களைக் கெடுக்கவா வந்தீர்? உம்மை இன்னார் என்று அறிவேன், நீர் தேவனுடைய பரிசுத்தர் என்று சத்தமிட்டான்.

Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

அதற்கு இயேசு: நீ பேசாமல் இவனைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டுப்போ என்று அதை அதட்டினார்.

And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.

உடனே அந்த அசுத்த ஆவி அவனை அலைக்கழித்து, மிகுந்த சத்தமிட்டு, அவனைவிட்டுப் போய்விட்டது.

And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.

எல்லாரும் ஆச்சரியப்பட்டு: இது என்ன? இந்தப் புதிய உபதேசம் எப்படிப்பட்டது? இவர் அதிகாரத்தோடே அசுத்த ஆவிகளுக்கும் கட்டளையிடுகிறார், அவைகள் இவருக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிகிறதே என்று தங்களுக்குள்ளே ஒருவரோடொருவர் சொல்லிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.

அதுமுதல் அவருடைய கீர்த்தி கலிலேயா நாடெங்கும் பிரசித்தமாயிற்று.

And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.

உடனே அவர்கள் ஜெபஆலயத்தை விட்டுப் புறப்பட்டு, யாக்கோபோடும் யோவானோடுங்கூட, சீமோன் அந்திரேயா என்பவர்களுடைய வீட்டில் பிரவேசித்தார்கள்.

And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.

அங்கே சீமோனுடைய மாமி ஜூரமாய்க் கிடந்தாள்; உடனே அவர்கள் அவளைக்குறித்து அவருக்குச் சொன்னார்கள்.

But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her.

அவர் கிட்டப்போய், அவள் கையைப் பிடித்து, அவளைத் தூக்கிவிட்டார்; உடனே ஜூரம் அவளை விட்டு நீங்கிற்று; அப்பொழுது அவள் அவர்களுக்குப் பணிவிடைசெய்தாள்.

And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.

சாயங்காலமாகிச் சூரியன் அஸ்தமித்தபோது, சகல பிணியாளிகளையும், பிசாசுபிடித்தவர்களையும், அவரிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்.

And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils.

பட்டணத்தார் எல்லாரும் வீட்டுவாசலுக்கு முன்பாகக் கூடிவந்தார்கள்.

And all the city was gathered together at the door.

பலவிதமான வியாதிகளினால் உபத்திரவப்பட்டிருந்த அநேகரை அவர் சொஸ்தமாக்கி, அநேகம் பிசாசுகளையும் துரத்திவிட்டார்; அந்தப் பிசாசுகள் தம்மை அறிந்திருந்தபடியால், அவைகள் பேசுகிறதற்கு அவர் இடங்கொடுக்கவில்லை.

And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.

அவர் அதிகாலையில், இருட்டோடே எழுந்து புறப்பட்டு, வனாந்தரமான ஓரிடத்திற்குப்போய், அங்கே ஜெபம்பண்ணினார்.

And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

சீமோனும் அவனோடே இருந்தவர்களும் அவரைப் பின்தொடர்ந்துபோய்,

And Simon and they that were with him followed after him.

அவரைக் கண்டபோது: உம்மை எல்லாரும் தேடுகிறார்கள் என்று சொன்னார்கள்.

And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.

அவர்களை அவர் நோக்கி: அடுத்த ஊர்களிலும் நான் பிரசங்கம்பண்ணவேண்டுமாதலால், அவ்விடங்களுக்குப் போவோம் வாருங்கள்; இதற்காகவே புறப்பட்டுவந்தேன் என்று சொல்லி;

And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.

கலிலேயா நாடெங்கும் அவர்களுடைய ஜெபஆலயங்களில் அவர் பிரசங்கம்பண்ணிக்கொண்டும், பிசாசுகளைத் துரத்திக்கொண்டும் இருந்தார்.

And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.

அப்பொழுது குஷ்டரோகி ஒருவன் அவரிடத்தில் வந்து, அவர் முன்பாக முழங்கால்படியிட்டு: உமக்குச் சித்தமானால் என்னைச் சுத்தமாக்க உம்மால் ஆகும் என்று வேண்டிக்கொண்டான்.

And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

இயேசு மனதுருகி, கையை நீட்டி, அவனைத் தொட்டு: எனக்குச் சித்தமுண்டு, சுத்தமாகு என்றார்.

And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.

இப்படி அவர் சொன்னவுடனே, குஷ்டரோகம் அவனைவிட்டு நீங்கிற்று, அவன் சுத்தமானான்.

And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.

அப்பொழுது அவர் அவனை நோக்கி: நீ இதை ஒருவருக்கும் சொல்லாதபடிக்கு எச்சரிக்கையாயிரு;

And he straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away;

ஆயினும் நீ போய், ஆசாரியனுக்கு உன்னைக் காண்பித்து, நீ சுத்தமானதினிமித்தம், மோசே கட்டளையிட்டிருக்கிறவைகளை அவர்களுக்குச் சாட்சியாகச் செலுத்து என்று கண்டிப்பாய்ச் சொல்லி, உடனே அவனை அனுப்பிவிட்டார்.

And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

அவனோ புறப்பட்டுப்போய்; இந்தச் சங்கதி எங்கும் விளங்கும்படியாகப் பிரசித்தம் பண்ணத்தொடங்கினான். அதினால் அவர் வெளியரங்கமாய்ப் பட்டணத்தில் பிரவேசிக்கக்கூடாமல், வெளியே வனாந்தரமான இடங்களில் தங்கியிருந்தார்; எத்திசையிலுமிருந்து ஜனங்கள் அவரிடத்திற்கு வந்தார்கள்.

But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.
