இரண்டு வருஷம் சென்றபின்பு, பார்வோன் ஒரு சொப்பனம் கண்டான்; அது என்னவென்றால், அவன் நதியண்டையிலே நின்றுகொண்டிருந்தான்.

And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river.

அப்பொழுது அழகும் புஷ்டியுமான ஏழு பசுக்கள் நதியிலிருந்து ஏறிவந்து புல் மேய்ந்தது.

And, behold, there came up out of the river seven well favoured kine and fatfleshed; and they fed in a meadow.

அவைகளின்பின் அவலட்சணமும் கேவலமுமான வேறே ஏழு பசுக்கள் நதியிலிருந்து ஏறிவந்து, நதி ஓரத்தில் மற்றப் பசுக்களண்டையிலே நின்றது.

And, behold, seven other kine came up after them out of the river, ill favoured and leanfleshed; and stood by the other kine upon the brink of the river.

அவலட்சணமும் கேவலமுமான பசுக்கள் அழகும் புஷ்டியுமான ஏழு பசுக்களையும் பட்சித்துப்போட்டது; இப்படிப் பார்வோன் கண்டு விழித்துக்கொண்டான்.

And the ill favoured and leanfleshed kine did eat up the seven well favoured and fat kine. So Pharaoh awoke.

மறுபடியும் அவன் நித்திரைசெய்து, இரண்டாம் விசை ஒரு சொப்பனம் கண்டான்; நல்ல செழுமையான ஏழு கதிர்கள் ஒரே தாளிலிருந்து ஓங்கி வளர்ந்தது.

And he slept and dreamed the second time: and, behold, seven ears of corn came up upon one stalk, rank and good.

And, behold, seven thin ears and blasted with the east wind sprung up after them.

And the seven thin ears devoured the seven rank and full ears. And Pharaoh awoke, and, behold, it was a dream.

காலமே பார்வோனுடைய மனம் கலக்கங்கொண்டிருந்தது; அப்பொழுது அவன் எகிப்திலுள்ள சகல மந்திரவாதிகளையும் சகல சாஸ்திரிகளையும் அழைப்பித்து, அவர்களுக்குத் தன் சொப்பனத்தைச் சொன்னான்; ஒருவராலும் அதின் அர்த்தத்தைப் பார்வோனுக்குச் சொல்லக் கூடாமற்போயிற்று.

And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh.

அப்பொழுது பானபாத்திரக்காரரின் தலைவன் பார்வோனை நோக்கி: நான் செய்த குற்றம் இன்றுதான் என் நினைவில் வந்தது.

Then spake the chief butler unto Pharaoh, saying, I do remember my faults this day:

பார்வோன் தம்முடைய ஊழியக்காரர்மேல் கடுங்கோபங்கொண்டு, என்னையும் சுயம்பாகிகளின் தலைவனையும் தலையாரிகளின் அதிபதி வீடாகிய சிறைச்சாலையிலே வைத்திருந்த காலத்தில்,

Pharaoh was wroth with his servants, and put me in ward in the captain of the guard's house, both me and the chief baker:

நானும் அவனும் ஒரே இராத்திரியிலே வெவ்வேறு பொருள்கொண்ட சொப்பனம் கண்டோம்.

And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream.

அப்பொழுது தலையாரிகளின் அதிபதிக்கு வேலைக்காரனாகிய எபிரெய பிள்ளையாண்டான் ஒருவன் அங்கே எங்களோடே இருந்தான்; அவனிடத்தில் அவைகளைச் சொன்னோம், அவன் நாங்கள் கண்ட சொப்பனங்களுக்குரிய வெவ்வேறு அர்த்தத்தின்படியே எங்கள் சொப்பனத்தின் பயனைச் சொன்னான்.

And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret.

அவன் எங்களுக்குச் சொல்லிய அர்த்தத்தின்படியே நடந்தது; என்னைத் திரும்ப என் நிலையிலே நிறுத்தி, அவனைத் தூக்கிப்போடுவித்தார் என்றான்.

And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he hanged.

அப்பொழுது பார்வோன் யோசேப்பை அழைப்பித்தான்; அவனைத் தீவிரமாய்க் காவல்கிடங்கிலிருந்து கொண்டுவந்தார்கள். அவன் சவரம் பண்ணிக்கொண்டு, வேறு வஸ்திரம் தரித்து, பார்வோனிடத்தில் வந்தான்.

Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.

பார்வோன் யோசேப்பை நோக்கி: ஒரு சொப்பனம் கண்டேன்; அதின் அர்த்தத்தைச் சொல்ல ஒருவரும் இல்லை; நீ ஒரு சொப்பனத்தைக் கேட்டால், அதின் அர்த்தத்தைச் சொல்லுவாய் என்று உன்னைக்குறித்து நான் கேள்விப்பட்டேன் என்றான்.

And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it.

அப்பொழுது யோசேப்பு பார்வோனுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: நான் அல்ல, தேவனே பார்வோனுக்கு மங்களமான உத்தரவு அருளிச்செய்வார் என்றான்.

And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.

பார்வோன் யோசேப்பை நோக்கி: என் சொப்பனத்திலே, நான் நதி ஓரத்தில் நின்றுகொண்டிருந்தேன்.

And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, In my dream, behold, I stood upon the bank of the river:

அழகும் புஷ்டியுமான ஏழு பசுக்கள் நதியிலிருந்து ஏறிவந்து புல்மேய்ந்தது.

And, behold, there came up out of the river seven kine, fatfleshed and well favoured; and they fed in a meadow:

அவைகளின்பின் இளைத்ததும் மகா அவலட்சணமும் கேவலமுமான வேறே ஏழு பசுக்கள் ஏறிவந்தது; இவைகளைப்போல அவலட்சணமான பசுக்களை எகிப்து தேசமெங்கும் நான் கண்டதில்லை.

And, behold, seven other kine came up after them, poor and very ill favoured and leanfleshed, such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt for badness:

கேவலமும் அவலட்சணமுமான பசுக்கள் கொழுமையான முந்தின ஏழு பசுக்களையும் பட்சித்துப்போட்டது.

And the lean and the ill favoured kine did eat up the first seven fat kine:

அவைகள் இவைகளின் வயிற்றுக்குள் போயும், வயிற்றுக்குள் போயிற்றென்று தோன்றாமல், முன் இருந்தது போலவே அவலட்சணமாயிருந்தது; இப்படிக் கண்டு விழித்துக்கொண்டேன்.

And when they had eaten them up, it could not be known that they had eaten them; but they were still ill favoured, as at the beginning. So I awoke.

பின்னும் நான் என் சொப்பனத்திலே, நிறைமேனியுள்ள ஏழு நல்ல கதிர்கள் ஒரே தாளிலிருந்து ஓங்கி வளரக்கண்டேன்.

And I saw in my dream, and, behold, seven ears came up in one stalk, full and good:

பின்பு சாவியானவைகளும் கீழ்காற்றினால் தீய்ந்து பதரானவைகளுமான ஏழு கதிர்கள் முளைத்தது.

And, behold, seven ears, withered, thin, and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them:

சாவியான கதிர்கள் அந்த ஏழு நல்ல கதிர்களையும் விழுங்கிப்போட்டது. இதை மந்திரவாதிகளிடத்தில் சொன்னேன்; இதின் பொருளை எனக்கு விடுவிக்கிறவன் ஒருவனும் இல்லை என்றான்.

And the thin ears devoured the seven good ears: and I told this unto the magicians; but there was none that could declare it to me.

அப்பொழுது யோசேப்பு பார்வோனை நோக்கி: பார்வோனின் சொப்பனம் ஒன்று தான்; தேவன் தாம் செய்யப்போகிறது இன்னதென்று பார்வோனுக்கு அறிவித்திருக்கிறார்.

And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God hath shewed Pharaoh what he is about to do.

அந்த ஏழு நல்ல பசுக்களும் ஏழு வருஷமாம்; அந்த ஏழு நல்ல கதிர்களும் ஏழு வருஷமாம்; சொப்பனம் ஒன்றே.

The seven good kine are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years: the dream is one.

அவைகளின்பின் ஏறிவந்த கேவலமும் அவலட்சணமுமான ஏழு பசுக்களும் ஏழு வருஷமாம்; கீழ்காற்றினால் தீய்ந்து சாவியான ஏழு கதிர்களும் ஏழு வருஷமாம்; இவைகள் பஞ்சமுள்ள ஏழு வருஷமாம்.

And the seven thin and ill favoured kine that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind shall be seven years of famine.

பார்வோனுக்கு நான் சொல்லவேண்டிய காரியம் இதுவே; தேவன் தாம் செய்யப்போகிறதைப் பார்வோனுக்குக் காண்பித்திருக்கிறார்.

This is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: What God is about to do he sheweth unto Pharaoh.

எகிப்து தேசமெங்கும் பரிபூரணமான விளைவு உண்டாயிருக்கும் ஏழு வருஷம் வரும்.

Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt:

அதன்பின் பஞ்சமுண்டாயிருக்கும் ஏழு வருஷம் வரும்; அப்பொழுது எகிப்துதேசத்தில் அந்தப் பரிபூரணமெல்லாம் மறக்கப்பட்டுப்போகும்; அந்தப் பஞ்சம் தேசத்தைப் பாழாக்கும்.

And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land;

வரப்போகிற மகா கொடுமையான பஞ்சத்தால் தேசத்தில் முன்னிருந்த பரிபூரணமெல்லாம் ஒழிந்துபோம்.

And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine following; for it shall be very grievous.

இந்தக் காரியம் தேவனால் நிச்சயிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது என்பதையும், தேவன் இதைச் சீக்கிரத்தில் செய்வார் என்பதையும் குறிக்கும்பொருட்டு, இந்தச் சொப்பனம் பார்வோனுக்கு இரட்டித்தது.

And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.

ஆகையால், விவேகமும் ஞானமுமுள்ள ஒரு மனுஷனைத் தேடி, அவனை எகிப்துதேசத்துக்கு அதிகாரியாகப் பார்வோன் ஏற்படுத்துவாராக.

Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt.

இப்படிப் பார்வோன் செய்து, தேசத்தின்மேல் விசாரணைக்காரரை வைத்து, பரிபூரணமுள்ள ஏழு வருஷங்களில் எகிப்துதேசத்திலே விளையும் விளைச்சலில் ஐந்தில் ஒரு பங்கை வாங்கும்படி செய்வாராக.

Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years.

அவர்கள் வரப்போகிற நல்ல வருஷங்களில் விளையும் தானியங்களையெல்லாம் சேர்த்து, பட்டணங்களில் ஆகாரம் உண்டாயிருக்கும்படிக்கு, பார்வோனுடைய அதிகாரத்துக்குள்ளாகத் தானியங்களைப் பத்திரப்படுத்தி வைத்துவைப்பார்களாக.

And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.

தேசம் பஞ்சத்தினால் அழிந்துபோகாதபடிக்கு, அந்தத் தானியம் இனி எகிப்துதேசத்தில் உண்டாகும் பஞ்சமுள்ள ஏழு வருஷங்களுக்காக தேசத்திற்கு ஒரு வைப்பாயிருப்பதாக என்றான்.

And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.

இந்த வார்த்தை பார்வோனுடைய பார்வைக்கும் அவன் ஊழியக்காரர் எல்லாருடைய பார்வைக்கும் நன்றாய்க் கண்டது.

And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.

அப்பொழுது பார்வோன் தன் ஊழியக்காரரை நோக்கி: தேவ ஆவியைப் பெற்ற இந்த மனுஷனைப்போல வேறொருவன் உண்டோ என்றான்.

And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?

பின்பு, பார்வோன் யோசேப்பை நோக்கி: தேவன் இவையெல்லாவற்றையும் உனக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தியிருக்கிறபடியால், உன்னைப்போல விவேகமும் ஞானமுமுள்ளவன் வேறொருவனும் இல்லை.

And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art:

நீ என் அரமனைக்கு அதிகாரியாயிருப்பாய்; உன் வாக்கின்படியே என் ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் அடங்கி நடக்கக்கடவர்கள்; சிங்காசனத்தில் மாத்திரம் உன்னிலும் நான் பெரியவனாய் இருப்பேன் என்றான்.

Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.

பின்னும் பார்வோன் யோசேப்பை நோக்கி: பார், எகிப்துதேசம் முழுமைக்கும் உன்னை அதிகாரியாக்கினேன் என்று சொல்லி,

And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.

பார்வோன் தன் கையில் போட்டிருந்த தன் முத்திரை மோதிரத்தைக் கழற்றி, அதை யோசேப்பின் கையிலே போட்டு, மெல்லிய வஸ்திரங்களை அவனுக்கு உடுத்தி, பொன் சரப்பணியை அவன் கழுத்திலே தரித்து,

And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;

தன்னுடைய இரண்டாம் இரதத்தின்மேல் அவனை ஏற்றி, தெண்டனிட்டுப் பணியுங்கள் என்று அவனுக்கு முன்பாகக் கூறுவித்து, எகிப்துதேசம் முழுமைக்கும் அவனை அதிகாரியாக்கினான்;

And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.

பின்னும் பார்வோன் யோசேப்பை நோக்கி: நான் பார்வோன்; ஆனாலும் எகிப்துதேசத்திலுள்ளவர்களில் ஒருவனும் உன் உத்தரவில்லாமல் தன் கையையாவது தன் காலையாவது அசைக்கக்கூடாது என்றான்.

And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.

மேலும், பார்வோன் யோசேப்புக்கு சாப்நாத்பன்னேயா என்கிற பெயரையிட்டு; ஓன் பட்டணத்து ஆசாரியனாகிய போத்திபிராவின் குமாரத்தியாகிய ஆஸ்நாத்தை அவனுக்கு மனைவியாகக் கொடுத்தான். யோசேப்பு எகிப்துதேசத்தைச் சுற்றிப்பார்க்கும்படி புறப்பட்டான்.

And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnathpaaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.

யோசேப்பு எகிப்தின் ராஜாவாகிய பார்வோனுக்கு முன்பாக நிற்கும்போது முப்பது வயதாயிருந்தான்; யோசேப்பு பார்வோனுடைய சந்நிதியிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு, எகிப்துதேசம் எங்கும் போய்ச் சுற்றிப்பார்த்தான்.

And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.

பரிபூரணமுள்ள ஏழு வருஷங்களிலும் பூமி மிகுதியான பலனைக் கொடுத்தது.

And in the seven plenteous years the earth brought forth by handfuls.

அவ்வேழு வருஷங்களில் எகிப்துதேசத்தில் விளைந்த தானியங்களையெல்லாம் அவன் சேர்த்து, அந்தத் தானியங்களைப் பட்டணங்களில் கட்டிவைத்தான்; அந்தந்தப் பட்டணத்தில் அதினதின் சுற்றுப்புறத்துத் தானியங்களைக் கட்டிவைத்தான்.

And he gathered up all the food of the seven years, which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: the food of the field, which was round about every city, laid he up in the same.

இப்படி யோசேப்பு அளவிறந்ததாய்க் கடற்கரை மணலைப்போல மிகுதியாக தானியத்தைச் சேர்த்துவைத்தான்; அது அளவுக்கு அடங்காததாயிருந்தது.

And Joseph gathered corn as the sand of the sea, very much, until he left numbering; for it was without number.

பஞ்சமுள்ள வருஷங்கள் வருவதற்கு முன்னே யோசேப்புக்கு இரண்டு குமாரர் பிறந்தார்கள்; அவர்களை ஓன் பட்டணத்து ஆசாரியனாகிய போத்திபிராவின் குமாரத்தியாகிய ஆஸ்நாத்து அவனுக்குப் பெற்றாள்.

And unto Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bare unto him.

யோசேப்பு: என் வருத்தம் யாவையும் என் தகப்பனுடைய குடும்பம் அனைத்தையும் நான் மறக்கும்படி தேவன் பண்ணினார் என்று சொல்லி, மூத்தவனுக்கு மனாசே என்று பேரிட்டான்.

And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father's house.

நான் சிறுமைப்பட்டிருந்த தேசத்தில் தேவன் என்னைப் பலுகப்பண்ணினார் என்று சொல்லி, இளையவனுக்கு எப்பிராயீம் என்று பேரிட்டான்.

And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.

எகிப்துதேசத்தில் வந்த பரிபூரணமுள்ள ஏழு வருஷங்களும் முடிந்தபின்,

And the seven years of plenteousness, that was in the land of Egypt, were ended.

யோசேப்பு சொல்லியபடி ஏழுவருஷ பஞ்சம் தொடங்கினது; சகலதேசங்களிலும் பஞ்சம் உண்டாயிற்று; ஆனாலும் எகிப்துதேசமெங்கும் ஆகாரம் இருந்தது.

And the seven years of dearth began to come, according as Joseph had said: and the dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.

எகிப்துதேசமெங்கும் பஞ்சம் உண்டானபோது, ஜனங்கள் உணவுக்காகப் பார்வோனை நோக்கி ஓலமிட்டார்கள்; அதற்குப் பார்வோன்: நீங்கள் யோசேப்பினிடத்துக்குப் போய், அவன் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறபடி செய்யுங்கள் என்று எகிப்தியர் எல்லாருக்கும் சொன்னான்.

And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread: and Pharaoh said unto all the Egyptians, Go unto Joseph; what he saith to you, do.

தேசமெங்கும் பஞ்சம் உண்டானபடியால், யோசேப்பு களஞ்சியங்களையெல்லாம் திறந்து, எகிப்தியருக்கு விற்றான்; பஞ்சம் எகிப்துதேசத்தில் வரவரக்கொடிதாயிற்று.

And the famine was over all the face of the earth: And Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold unto the Egyptians; and the famine waxed sore in the land of Egypt.

சகல தேசங்களிலும் பஞ்சம் கொடிதாயிருந்தபடியால், சகல தேசத்தார்களும் யோசேப்பினிடத்தில் தானியம் கொள்ளும்படி எகிப்துக்கு வந்தார்கள்.

And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph for to buy corn; because that the famine was so sore in all lands.

ஆதியாகமம் அத்தியாயம் 42

எகிப்திலே தானியம் உண்டென்று யாக்கோபு அறிந்து, தன் குமாரரை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் ஒருவர் முகத்தை ஒருவர் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறது என்ன?

Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another?

எகிப்திலே தானியம் உண்டென்று கேள்விப்படுகிறேன்; நாம் சாகாமல் உயிரோடிருக்கும்படி நீங்கள் அவ்விடத்துக்குப் போய், நமக்காகத் தானியம் கொள்ளுங்கள் என்றான்.

And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die.

யோசேப்பின் சகோதரர் பத்துப்பேர் தானியங்கொள்ள எகிப்துக்குப் போனார்கள்.

And Joseph's ten brethren went down to buy corn in Egypt.

யோசேப்பின் தம்பியாகிய பென்யமீனுக்கு ஏதோ மோசம் வரும் என்று சொல்லி, யாக்கோபு அவனை அவன் சகோதரரோடே அனுப்பவில்லை.

But Benjamin, Joseph's brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren; for he said, Lest peradventure mischief befall him.

கானான் தேசத்திலே பஞ்சம் உண்டாயிருந்தபடியால், தானியம் கொள்ளப்போகிறவர்களுடனேகூட இஸ்ரவேலின் குமாரரும் போனார்கள்.

And the sons of Israel came to buy corn among those that came: for the famine was in the land of Canaan.

யோசேப்பு அத்தேசத்துக்கு அதிபதியாயிருந்து, தேசத்தின் ஜனங்கள் யாவருக்கும் விற்றான். யோசேப்பின் சகோதரர் வந்து, முகங்குப்புறத் தரையிலே விழுந்து அவனை வணங்கினார்கள்.

And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph's brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth.

யோசேப்பு அவர்களைப் பார்த்து, தன் சகோதரர் என்று அறிந்துகொண்டான்; அறிந்தும் அறியாதவன்போலக் கடினமாய் அவர்களோடே பேசி: நீங்கள் எங்கேயிருந்து வந்தீர்கள் என்று கேட்டான்; அதற்கு அவர்கள்: கானான் தேசத்திலிருந்து தானியம் கொள்ளவந்தோம் என்றார்கள்.

And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come ye? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food.

And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him.

யோசேப்பு அவர்களைக்குறித்துத் தான் கண்ட சொப்பனங்களை நினைத்து, அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் வேவுகாரர், தேசம் எங்கே திறந்துகிடக்கிறது என்று பார்க்க வந்தீர்கள் என்றான்.

And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto them, Ye are spies; to see the nakedness of the land ye are come.

அதற்கு அவர்கள்: அப்படியல்ல, ஆண்டவனே, உமது அடியாராகிய நாங்கள் தானியம் கொள்ள வந்தோம்.

And they said unto him, Nay, my lord, but to buy food are thy servants come.

நாங்கள் எல்லாரும் ஒரு தகப்பனுடைய பிள்ளைகள்; நாங்கள் நிஜஸ்தர்; உமது அடியார் வேவுகாரர் அல்ல என்றார்கள்.

We are all one man's sons; we are true men, thy servants are no spies.

அதற்கு அவன்: அப்படியல்ல, தேசம் எங்கே திறந்துகிடக்கிறது என்று பார்க்கவே வந்தீர்கள் என்றான்.

And he said unto them, Nay, but to see the nakedness of the land ye are come.

அப்பொழுது அவர்கள்: உமது அடியாராகிய நாங்கள் பன்னிரண்டு சகோதரர்; கானான் தேசத்தில் இருக்கிற ஒரு தகப்பன் புத்திரர்; இளையவன் இப்பொழுது எங்கள் தகப்பனிடத்தில் இருக்கிறான்; ஒருவன் காணாமற்போனான் என்றார்கள்.

And they said, Thy servants are twelve brethren, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and, behold, the youngest is this day with our father, and one is not.

யோசேப்பு அவர்களை நோக்கி: உங்களை வேவுகாரர் என்று நான் சொன்னது சரி.

And Joseph said unto them, That is it that I spake unto you, saying, Ye are spies:

உங்கள் இளைய சகோதரன் இங்கே வந்தாலொழிய நீங்கள் இங்கேயிருந்து புறப்படுவது இல்லை என்று பார்வோனின் ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு ஆணையிட்டுச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

Hereby ye shall be proved: By the life of Pharaoh ye shall not go forth hence, except your youngest brother come hither.

இதினாலே நீங்கள் சோதிக்கப்படுவீர்கள்; உங்கள் சகோதரனை அழைத்து வரும்படி உங்களில் ஒருவனை அனுப்புங்கள்; உங்களிடத்தில் உண்மை உண்டோ இல்லையோ என்று உங்கள் வார்த்தைகள் சோதிக்கப்படுமளவும், நீங்கள் காவலில் இருக்கவேண்டும்; இல்லாவிட்டால், நீங்கள் வேவுகாரர்தான் என்று பார்வோனின் ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு ஆணையிட்டுச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்று சொல்லி,

Send one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and ye shall be kept in prison, that your words may be proved, whether there be any truth in you: or else by the life of Pharaoh surely ye are spies.

அவர்கள் எல்லாரையும் மூன்றுநாள் காவலிலே வைத்தான்.

And he put them all together into ward three days.

மூன்றாம் நாளிலே யோசேப்பு அவர்களை நோக்கி: நான் தேவனுக்குப் பயப்படுகிறவன்; நீங்கள் உயிரோடே இருக்கும்படிக்கு ஒன்று செய்யுங்கள்.

And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live; for I fear God:

நீங்கள் நிஜஸ்தரானால், சகோதரராகிய உங்களில் ஒருவன் காவற்கூடத்தில் கட்டுண்டிருக்கட்டும்; மற்றவர்கள் புறப்பட்டு, பஞ்சத்தினால் வருந்துகிற உங்கள் குடும்பத்துக்குத் தானியம் கொண்டுபோய்க் கொடுத்து,

If ye be true men, let one of your brethren be bound in the house of your prison: go ye, carry corn for the famine of your houses:

உங்கள் இளைய சகோதரனை என்னிடத்துக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவாருங்கள்; அப்பொழுது உங்கள் வார்த்தைகள் மெய்யென்று விளங்கும்; நீங்கள் சாவதில்லை என்றான். அவர்கள் அப்படிச்செய்கிறதற்கு இசைந்து:

But bring your youngest brother unto me; so shall your words be verified, and ye shall not die. And they did so.

நம்முடைய சகோதரனுக்கு நாம் செய்த துரோகம் நம்மேல் சுமந்தது; அவன் நம்மைக் கெஞ்சி வேண்டிக்கொண்டபோது, அவனுடைய மனவியாகுலத்தை நாம் கண்டும், அவனுக்குச் செவிகொடாமற்போனோமே; ஆகையால் இந்த ஆபத்து நமக்கு நேரிட்டது என்று ஒருவரை ஒருவர் பார்த்துச் சொல்லிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.

அப்பொழுது ரூபன் அவர்களைப் பார்த்து: இளைஞனுக்கு விரோதமாகப் பாவஞ்செய்யாதிருங்கள் என்று நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லவில்லையா? நீங்கள் கேளாமற்போனீர்கள்; இப்பொழுது, இதோ, அவன் இரத்தப்பழி நம்மிடத்தில் வாங்கப்படுகிறது என்றான்.

And Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required.

யோசேப்பு துபாசியைக்கொண்டு அவர்களிடத்தில் பேசினபடியால், தாங்கள் சொன்னது அவனுக்குத் தெரியும் என்று அறியாதிருந்தார்கள்.

And they knew not that Joseph understood them; for he spake unto them by an interpreter.

அவன் அவர்களை விட்டு அப்புறம் போய் அழுது, திரும்ப அவர்களிடத்தில் வந்து, அவர்களோடே பேசி, அவர்களில் சிமியோனைப் பிடித்து, அவர்கள் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாகக் கட்டுவித்தான்.

And he turned himself about from them, and wept; and returned to them again, and communed with them, and took from them Simeon, and bound him before their eyes.

பின்பு, அவர்கள் சாக்குகளைத் தானியத்தால் நிரப்பவும், அவர்கள் பணத்தைத் திரும்ப அவனவன் சாக்கிலே போடவும், வழிக்கு வேண்டிய ஆகாரத்தைக் கொடுக்கவும் யோசேப்பு கட்டளையிட்டான்; அப்படியே அவர்களுக்குச் செய்யப்பட்டது.

Then Joseph commanded to fill their sacks with corn, and to restore every man's money into his sack, and to give them provision for the way: and thus did he unto them.

அவர்கள் அந்தத் தானியத்தைத் தங்கள் கழுதைகள்மேல் ஏற்றிக்கொண்டு, அவ்விடம்விட்டுப் புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள்.

And they laded their asses with the corn, and departed thence.

தங்குகிற இடத்திலே அவர்களில் ஒருவன் தன் கழுதைக்குத் தீவனம் போடத் தன் சாக்கைத் திறந்தபோது, சாக்கின் வாயிலே தன் பணம் இருக்கிறதைக் கண்டு,

And as one of them opened his sack to give his ass provender in the inn, he espied his money; for, behold, it was in his sack's mouth.

தன் சகோதரரைப் பார்த்து, என் பணம் திரும்ப வந்திருக்கிறது; இதோ, அது என் சாக்கிலே இருக்கிறது என்றான். அப்பொழுது அவர்களுடைய இருதயம் சோர்ந்துபோய், அவர்கள் பயந்து, ஒருவரை ஒருவர் பார்த்து, தேவன் நமக்கு இப்படிச் செய்தது என்ன என்றார்கள்.

And he said unto his brethren, My money is restored; and, lo, it is even in my sack: and their heart failed them, and they were afraid, saying one to another, What is this that God hath done unto us?

அவர்கள் கானான் தேசத்திலுள்ள தங்கள் தகப்பனாகிய யாக்கோபினிடத்தில் வந்து, தங்களுக்குச் சம்பவித்தவைகளையெல்லாம் அவனுக்கு அறிவித்து:

And they came unto Jacob their father unto the land of Canaan, and told him all that befell unto them; saying,

தேசத்துக்கு அதிபதியாயிருக்கிறவன் எங்களை தேசத்தை வேவுபார்க்க வந்தவர்கள் என்று எண்ணி எங்களோடே கடினமாய்ப் பேசினான்.

The man, who is the lord of the land, spake roughly to us, and took us for spies of the country.

நாங்களோ அவனை நோக்கி: நாங்கள் நிஜஸ்தர், வேவுகாரர் அல்ல.

And we said unto him, We are true men; we are no spies:

நாங்கள் பன்னிரண்டு சகோதரர், ஒரு தகப்பன் புத்திரர், ஒருவன் காணாமற்போனான், இளையவன் இப்பொழுது கானான்தேசத்தில் எங்கள் தகப்பனிடத்தில் இருக்கிறான் என்றோம்.

We be twelve brethren, sons of our father; one is not, and the youngest is this day with our father in the land of Canaan.

அப்பொழுது தேசத்தின் அதிபதியானவன்: நீங்கள் நிஜஸ்தர் என்பதை நான் அறியும்படி உங்கள் சகோதரரில் ஒருவனை நீங்கள் என்னிடத்தில் விட்டு, பஞ்சத்தினால் வருந்துகிற உங்கள் குடும்பத்துக்குத் தானியம் வாங்கிக்கொண்டுபோய்க் கொடுத்து,

And the man, the lord of the country, said unto us, Hereby shall I know that ye are true men; leave one of your brethren here with me, and take food for the famine of your households, and be gone:

உங்கள் இளைய சகோதரனை என்னிடத்தில் அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவாருங்கள்; அதினாலே நீங்கள் வேவுகாரர் அல்ல, நிஜஸ்தர் என்பதை நான் அறிந்துகொண்டு, உங்கள் சகோதரனை விடுதலை செய்வேன்; நீங்கள் இந்தத் தேசத்திலே வியாபாரமும் பண்ணலாம் என்றான் என்று சொன்னார்கள்.

And bring your youngest brother unto me: then shall I know that ye are no spies, but that ye are true men: so will I deliver you your brother, and ye shall traffick in the land.

அவர்கள் தங்கள் சாக்குகளிலுள்ள தானியத்தைக் கொட்டுகையில், இதோ, அவனவன் சாக்கிலே அவனவன் பணமுடிப்பு இருந்தது; அந்தப் பணமுடிப்புகளை அவர்களும் அவர்கள் தகப்பனும் கண்டு பயந்தார்கள்.

And it came to pass as they emptied their sacks, that, behold, every man's bundle of money was in his sack: and when both they and their father saw the bundles of money, they were afraid.

அவர்கள் தகப்பனாகிய யாக்கோபு அவர்களை நோக்கி: என்னைப் பிள்ளையற்றவனாக்குகிறீர்கள்; யோசேப்பும் இல்லை, சிமியோனும் இல்லை; பென்யமீனையும் கொண்டுபோகப் பார்க்கிறீர்கள்; இதெல்லாம் எனக்கு விரோதமாய் நேரிடுகிறது என்றான்.

And Jacob their father said unto them, Me have ye bereaved of my children: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Benjamin away: all these things are against me.

அப்பொழுது ரூபன் தன் தகப்பனைப் பார்த்து, அவனை என் கையில் ஒப்புவியும், நான் அவனைத் திரும்ப உம்மிடத்தில் கொண்டுவருவேன்; அவனைக் கொண்டுவராவிட்டால், என் இரண்டு குமாரரையும் கொன்றுபோடும் என்று சொன்னான்.

And Reuben spake unto his father, saying, Slay my two sons, if I bring him not to thee: deliver him into my hand, and I will bring him to thee again.

அதற்கு அவன்: என் மகன் உங்களோடேகூடப் போவதில்லை; அவன் தமையன் இறந்துபோனான், இவன் ஒருவன் மீதியாயிருக்கிறான்; நீங்கள் போகும் வழியில் இவனுக்கு மோசம் நேரிட்டால், நீங்கள் என் நரைமயிரைச் சஞ்சலத்தோடே பாதாளத்தில் இறங்கப்பண்ணுவீர்கள் என்றான்.

And he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if mischief befall him by the way in the which ye go, then shall ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.

மத்தேயு அத்தியாயம் 23

பின்பு இயேசு ஜனங்களையும் தம்முடைய சீஷர்களையும் நோக்கி:

Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,

வேதபாரகரும் பரிசேயரும் மோசேயினுடைய ஆசனத்தில் உட்கார்ந்திருக்கிறார்கள்;

Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:

ஆகையால், நீங்கள் கைக்கொள்ளும்படி அவர்கள் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிற யாவையும் கைக்கொண்டு செய்யுங்கள்; அவர்கள் செய்கையின்படியோ செய்யாதிருங்கள்; ஏனெனில், அவர்கள் சொல்லுகிறார்கள், சொல்லியும் செய்யாதிருக்கிறார்கள்.

All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

சுமப்பதற்கரிய பாரமான சுமைகளைக் கட்டி மனுஷர் தோள்களின்மேல் சுமத்துகிறார்கள்; தாங்களோ ஒரு விரலினாலும் அவைகளைத் தொடமாட்டார்கள்.

For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

தங்கள் கிரியைகளையெல்லாம் மனுஷர் காணவேண்டுமென்று செய்கிறார்கள்; தங்கள் காப்புநாடாக்களை அகலமாக்கி, தங்கள் வஸ்திரங்களின் தொங்கல்களைப் பெரிதாக்கி,

But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,

விருந்துகளில் முதன்மையான இடங்களையும், ஜெபஆலயங்களில் முதன்மையான ஆசனங்களையும்,

And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,

சந்தைவெளிகளில் வந்தனங்களையும், மனுஷரால் ரபீ, ரபீ, என்று அழைக்கப்படுவதையும் விரும்புகிறார்கள்.

And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

நீங்களோ ரபீ என்றழைக்கப்படாதிருங்கள்; கிறிஸ்து ஒருவரே உங்களுக்குப் போதகராயிருக்கிறார், நீங்கள் எல்லாரும் சகோதரராயிருக்கிறீர்கள்.

But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.

பூமியிலே ஒருவனையும் உங்கள் பிதா என்று சொல்லாதிருங்கள்; பரலோகத்திலிருக்கிற ஒருவரே உங்களுக்குப் பிதாவாயிருக்கிறார்.

And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

நீங்கள் குருக்கள் என்றும் அழைக்கப்படாதிருங்கள்; கிறிஸ்து ஒருவரே உங்களுக்குக் குருவாயிருக்கிறார்.

Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.

உங்களில் பெரியவனாயிருக்கிறவன் உங்களுக்கு ஊழியக்காரனாயிருக்கக்கடவன்.

But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.

தன்னை உயர்த்துகிறவன் தாழ்த்தப்படுவான், தன்னைத் தாழ்த்துகிறவன் உயர்த்தப்படுவான்.

And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

மாயக்காரராகிய வேதபாரகரே! பரிசேயரே! உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, மனுஷர் பிரவேசியாதபடி பரலோகராஜ்யத்தைப் பூட்டிப்போடுகிறீர்கள்; நீங்கள் அதில் பிரவேசிக்கிறதுமில்லை, பிரவேசிக்கப்போகிறவர்களைப் பிரவேசிக்கவிடுகிறதுமில்லை.

But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.

மாயக்காரராகிய வேதபாரகரே! பரிசேயரே! உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, பார்வைக்காக நீண்ட ஜெபம்பண்ணி, விதவைகளின் வீடுகளைப் பட்சித்துப்போடுகிறீர்கள்; இதினிமித்தம் அதிக ஆக்கினையை அடைவீர்கள்.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

மாயக்காரராகிய வேதபாரகரே! பரிசேயரே! உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, ஒருவனை உங்கள் மார்க்கத்தானாக்கும்படி சமுத்திரத்தையும் பூமியையும் சுற்றித்திரிகிறீர்கள்; அவன் உங்கள் மார்க்கத்தானானபோது அவனை உங்களிலும் இரட்டிப்பாய் நரகத்தின் மகனாக்குகிறீர்கள்.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

குருடரான வழிகாட்டிகளே! உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, எவனாகிலும் தேவாலயத்தின்பேரில் சத்தியம்பண்ணினால் அதினால் ஒன்றுமில்லையென்றும், எவனாகிலும் தேவாலயத்தின் பொன்னின்பேரில் சத்தியம்பண்ணினால் அவன் கடனாளியென்றும் சொல்லுகிறீர்கள்.

Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!

மதிகேடரே, குருடரே! எது முக்கியம்? பொன்னோ, பொன்னைப் பரிசுத்தமாக்குகிற தேவாலயமோ?

Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?

மேலும், எவனாகிலும் பலிபீடத்தின் பேரில் சத்தியம்பண்ணினால் அதினால் ஒன்றுமில்லையென்றும், எவனாகிலும் அதின்மேல் இருக்கிற காணிக்கையின்பேரில் சத்தியம்பண்ணினால், அவன் கடனாளியென்றும் சொல்லுகிறீர்கள்.

And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.

மதிகேடரே, குருடரே! எது முக்கியம்? காணிக்கையோ, காணிக்கையைப் பரிசுத்தமாக்குகிற பலிபீடமோ?

Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?

ஆகையால், பலிபீடத்தின்பேரில் சத்தியம்பண்ணுகிறவன் அதின்பேரிலும் அதின்மேலுள்ள எல்லாவற்றின்பேரிலும் சத்தியம்பண்ணுகிறான்.

Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.

தேவாலயத்தின்பேரில் சத்தியம்பண்ணுகிறவன் அதின்பேரிலும் அதில் வாசமாயிருக்கிறவர்பேரிலும் சத்தியம்பண்ணுகிறான்.

And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.

வானத்தின்பேரில் சத்தியம்பண்ணுகிறவன் தேவனுடைய சிங்காசனத்தின்பேரிலும் அதில் வீற்றிருக்கிறவர்பேரிலும் சத்தியம்பண்ணுகிறான்.

And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.

மாயக்காரராகிய வேதபாரகரே! பரிசேயரே! உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, நீங்கள் ஒற்தலாமிலும் வெந்தயத்திலும் சீரகத்திலும் தசமபாகம் செலுத்தி, நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தில் கற்பித்திருக்கிற விசேஷித்தவைகளாகிய நீதியையும் இரக்கத்தையும் விசுவாசத்தையும் விட்டுவிட்டீர்கள், இவைகளையும் செய்யவேண்டும், அவைகளையும் விடாதிருக்கவேண்டுமே.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

குருடரான வழிகாட்டிகளே, கொசுகில்லாதபடி வடிகட்டி, ஒட்டகத்தை விழுங்குகிறவர்களாயிருக்கிறீர்கள்.

Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

மாயக்காரராகிய வேதபாரகரே! பரிசேயரே! உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, போஜனபானபாத்திரங்களின் வெளிப்புறத்தைச் சுத்தமாக்குகிறீர்கள்; உட்புறத்திலோ அவைகள் கொள்ளையினாலும் அநீதத்தினாலும் நிறைந்திருக்கிறது.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.

குருடனான பரிசேயனே! போஜனபானபாத்திரங்களின் வெளிப்புறம் சுத்தமாகும்படி அவைகளின் உட்புறத்தை முதலாவது சுத்தமாக்கு.

Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.

மாயக்காரராகிய வேதபாரகரே! பரிசேயரே! உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, வெள்ளையடிக்கப்பட்ட கல்லறைகளுக்கு ஒப்பாயிருக்கிறீர்கள், அவைகள் புறம்பே அலங்காரமாய்க் காணப்படும், உள்ளேயோ மரித்தவர்களின் எலும்புகளினாலும் சகல அசுத்தத்தினாலும் நிறைந்திருக்கும்.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.

அப்படியே நீங்களும் மனுஷருக்கு நீதிமான்கள் என்று புறம்பே காணப்படுகிறீர்கள்; உள்ளத்திலோ மாயத்தினாலும் அக்கிரமத்தினாலும் நிறைந்திருக்கிறீர்கள்.

Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

மாயக்காரராகிய வேதபாரகரே! பரிசேயரே! உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, நீங்கள் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் கல்லறைகளைக் கட்டி, நீதிமான்களின் சமாதிகளைச் சிங்காரித்து:

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,

எங்கள் பிதாக்களின் நாட்களில் இருந்தோமானால், அவர்களோடே நாங்கள் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் இரத்தப்பழிக்கு உடன்பட்டிருக்கமாட்டோம் என்கிறீர்கள்.

And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

ஆகையால், தீர்க்கதரிசிகளைக் கொலைசெய்தவர்களுக்குப் புத்திரராயிருக்கிறீர்கள் என்று உங்களைக்குறித்து நீங்களே சாட்சிகளாயிருக்கிறீர்கள்.

Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.

Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.

சர்ப்பங்களே, விரியன்பாம்புக்குட்டிகளே! நரகாக்கினைக்கு எப்படித் தப்பித்துக்கொள்ளுவீர்கள்?

Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

ஆகையால், இதோ, தீர்க்கதரிசிகளையும் ஞானிகளையும் வேதபாரகரையும் உங்களிடத்தில் அனுப்புகிறேன்; அவர்களில் சிலரைக் கொன்று சிலுவைகளில் அறைவீர்கள், சிலரை உங்கள் ஆலயங்களில் வாரினால் அடித்து, ஊருக்கு ஊர் துன்பப்படுத்துவீர்கள்;

Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:

நீதிமானாகிய ஆபேலின் இரத்தம்முதல் தேவாலயத்துக்கும் பலிபீடத்துக்கும் நடுவே நீங்கள் கொலைசெய்த பரகியாவின் குமாரனாகிய சகரியாவின் இரத்தம்வரைக்கும், பூமியின்மேல் சிந்தப்பட்ட நீதிமான்களின் இரத்தப்பழியெல்லாம் உங்கள்மேல் வரும்படியாக இப்படிச் செய்வீர்கள்.

That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.

இவைகளெல்லாம் இந்தச் சந்ததியின்மேல் வருமென்று, மெய்யாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

எருசலேமே, எருசலேமே, தீர்க்கதரிசிகளைக் கொலைசெய்து, உன்னிடத்தில் அனுப்பப்பட்டவர்களைக் கல்லெறிகிறவளே! கோழி தன் குஞ்சுகளைத் தன் சிறகுகளின்கீழே கூட்டிச் சேர்த்துக்கொள்ளும்வண்ணமாக நான் எத்தனைதரமோ உன் பிள்ளைகளைக் கூட்டிச் சேர்த்துக்கொள்ள மனதாயிருந்தேன்; உங்களுக்கோ மனதில்லாமற்போயிற்று.

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

இதோ, உங்கள் வீடு உங்களுக்குப் பாழாக்கிவிடப்படும்.

Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

கர்த்தருடைய நாமத்தினாலே வருகிறவர் ஸ்தோத்திரிக்கப்பட்டவர் என்று நீங்கள் சொல்லுமளவும், இதுமுதல் என்னைக் காணாதிருப்பீர்கள் என்று உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.

For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
