ஆதியாகமம் அத்தியாயம் 38

அக்காலத்திலே யூதா தன் சகோதரரை விட்டு, அதுல்லாம் ஊரானாகிய ஈரா என்னும் ஒரு மனிதனிடத்தில் போய்ச் சேர்ந்தான்.

And it came to pass at that time, that Judah went down from his brethren, and turned in to a certain Adullamite, whose name was Hirah.

அங்கே யூதா, சூவா என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒரு கானானியனுடைய குமாரத்தியைக் கண்டு, அவளை விவாகம்பண்ணி, அவளோடே சேர்ந்தான்.

And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite, whose name was Shuah; and he took her, and went in unto her.

அவள் கர்ப்பவதியாகி ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்றாள்; அவனுக்கு ஏர் என்று பேரிட்டான்.

And she conceived, and bare a son; and he called his name Er.

அவள் மறுபடியும் கர்ப்பவதியாகி ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்று, அவனுக்கு ஓனான் என்று பேரிட்டாள்.

And she conceived again, and bare a son; and she called his name Onan.

அவள் மறுபடியும் கர்ப்பவதியாகி ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்று, அவனுக்குச் சேலா என்று பேரிட்டாள்; அவள் இவனைப் பெறுகிறபோது, அவன் கெசீபிலே இருந்தான்.

And she yet again conceived, and bare a son; and called his name Shelah: and he was at Chezib, when she bare him.

யூதா தன் மூத்த மகனாகிய ஏர் என்பவனுக்குத் தாமார் என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒரு பெண்ணைக் கொண்டான்.

And Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, whose name was Tamar.

யூதாவின் மூத்த மகனாகிய ஏர் என்பவன் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாதவனாயிருந்ததினால், கர்த்தர் அவனை அழித்துப்போட்டார்.

And Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD slew him.

அப்பொழுது யூதா ஓனானை நோக்கி: நீ உன் தமையன் மனைவியைச் சேர்ந்து, அவளை மைத்துனச் சுதந்தரமாய்ப்படைத்து, உன் தமையனுக்குச் சந்ததியை உண்டாக்கு என்றான்.

And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother's wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother.

அந்தச் சந்ததி தன் சந்ததியாயிராதென்று ஓனான் அறிந்தபடியினாலே, அவன் தன் தமையனுடைய மனைவியைச் சேரும்போது, தன் தமையனுக்குச் சந்ததி உண்டாகாதபடிக்குத் தன் வித்தைத் தரையிலே விழவிட்டுக் கெடுத்தான்.

And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother.

அவன் செய்தது கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாததாயிருந்ததினால், அவனையும் அவர் அழித்துப்போட்டார்.

And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also.

அப்பொழுது யூதா, தன் குமாரனாகிய சேலாவும் அவன் சகோதரர் செத்தது போலச் சாவான் என்று அஞ்சி, தன் மருமகளாகிய தாமாரை நோக்கி: என் குமாரனாகிய சேலா பெரியவனாகுமட்டும், நீ உன் தகப்பன் வீட்டிலே கைம்பெண்ணாய்த் தங்கியிரு என்று சொன்னான்; அந்தப்படியே தாமார் போய்த் தன் தகப்பன் வீட்டிலே தங்கியிருந்தாள்.

Then said Judah to Tamar his daughter in law, Remain a widow at thy father's house, till Shelah my son be grown: for he said, Lest peradventure he die also, as his brethren did. And Tamar went and dwelt in her father's house.

அநேகநாள் சென்றபின், சூவாவின் குமாரத்தியாகிய யூதாவின் மனைவி மரித்தாள். யூதாவினுடைய துக்கம் ஆறினபின், அவன் அதுல்லாம் ஊரானாகிய தன் சிநேகிதன் ஈராவுடனே திம்னாவிலே தன் ஆடுகளை மயிர்க் கத்தரிக்கிறவர்களிடத்திற்குப் போனான்.

And in process of time the daughter of Shuah Judah's wife died; and Judah was comforted, and went up unto his sheepshearers to Timnath, he and his friend Hirah the Adullamite.

அப்பொழுது: உன் மாமனார் தம்முடைய ஆடுகளை மயிர்க்கத்தரிக்கத் திம்னாவுக்குப் போகிறார் என்று தாமாருக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.

And it was told Tamar, saying, Behold thy father in law goeth up to Timnath to shear his sheep.

சேலா பெரியவனாகியும் தான் அவனுக்கு மனைவியாகக் கொடுக்கப்படவில்லை என்று அவள் கண்டபடியால், தன் கைம்பெண்மைக்குரிய வஸ்திரங்களைக் களைந்துபோட்டு, முக்காடிட்டுத் தன்னை மூடிக்கொண்டு, திம்னாவுக்குப் போகிற வழியிலிருக்கிற நீரூற்றுகளுக்கு முன்பாக உட்கார்ந்தாள்.

And she put her widow's garments off from her, and covered her with a vail, and wrapped herself, and sat in an open place, which is by the way to Timnath; for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she was not given unto him to wife.

யூதா அவளைக் கண்டு, அவள் தன் முகத்தை மூடியிருந்தபடியால், அவள் ஒரு வேசி என்று நினைத்து,

When Judah saw her, he thought her to be an harlot; because she had covered her face.

அந்த வழியாய் அவளிடத்தில் போய், அவள் தன் மருமகள் என்று அறியாமல்: நான் உன்னிடத்தில் சேரும்படி வருவாயா என்றான்; அதற்கு அவள்: நீர் என்னிடத்தில் சேரும்படி, எனக்கு என்ன தருவீர் என்றாள்.

And he turned unto her by the way, and said, Go to, I pray thee, let me come in unto thee; (for he knew not that she was his daughter in law.) And she said, What wilt thou give me, that thou mayest come in unto me?

அதற்கு அவன்: நான் மந்தையிலிருந்து ஒரு வெள்ளாட்டுக்குட்டியை அனுப்புகிறேன் என்றான். அதற்கு அவள்: நீர் அதை அனுப்புமளவும் ஒரு அடைமானம் கொடுப்பீரா என்றாள்.

And he said, I will send thee a kid from the flock. And she said, Wilt thou give me a pledge, till thou send it?

அப்பொழுது அவன்: நான் உனக்கு அடைமானமாக என்ன கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவள்: உம்முடைய முத்திரை மோதிரமும் உம்முடைய ஆரமும் உம்முடைய கைக்கோலும் கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்றாள். அவன் அவைகளை அவளுக்குக் கொடுத்து, அவளிடத்தில் சேர்ந்தான்; அவள் அவனாலே கர்ப்பவதியாகி,

And he said, What pledge shall I give thee? And she said, Thy signet, and thy bracelets, and thy staff that is in thine hand. And he gave it her, and came in unto her, and she conceived by him.

எழுந்துபோய், தன் முக்காட்டைக் களைந்து, தன் கைம்பெண்மைக்குரிய வஸ்திரங்களை உடுத்திக்கொண்டாள்.

And she arose, and went away, and laid by her vail from her, and put on the garments of her widowhood.

யூதா அந்த ஸ்திரீயினிடத்தில் இருந்த அடைமானத்தை வாங்கிக்கொண்டு வரும்படி அதுல்லாம் ஊரானாகிய தன் சிநேகிதன் கையிலே ஒரு வெள்ளாட்டுக்குட்டியைக் கொடுத்தனுப்பினான்; அவன் அவளைக் காணாமல்,

And Judah sent the kid by the hand of his friend the Adullamite, to receive his pledge from the woman's hand: but he found her not.

அவ்விடத்து மனிதரை நோக்கி: வழியண்டை நீரூற்றுகள் அருகே இருந்த தாசி எங்கே என்று கேட்டான்; அதற்கு அவர்கள்: இங்கே தாசி இல்லை என்றார்கள்.

Then he asked the men of that place, saying, Where is the harlot, that was openly by the way side? And they said, There was no harlot in this place.

அவன் யூதாவினிடத்தில் திரும்பி வந்து: அவளைக் காணோம், அங்கே தாசி இல்லையென்று அவ்விடத்து மனிதரும் சொல்லுகிறார்கள் என்றான்.

And he returned to Judah, and said, I cannot find her; and also the men of the place said, that there was no harlot in this place.

அப்பொழுது யூதா: இதோ, இந்த ஆட்டுக்குட்டியை அனுப்பினேன், நீ அவளைக் காணவில்லை; நமக்கு அவகீர்த்திவராதபடிக்கு, அவள் அதைக் கொண்டுபோனால் போகட்டும் என்றான்.

And Judah said, Let her take it to her, lest we be shamed: behold, I sent this kid, and thou hast not found her.

ஏறக்குறைய மூன்றுமாதம் சென்றபின்பு உன் மருகளாகிய தாமார் வேசித்தனம்பண்ணினாள், அந்த வேசித்தனத்தினால் கர்ப்பவதியுமானாள் என்று யூதாவுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது. அப்பொழுது யூதா: அவளை வெளியே கொண்டுவாருங்கள், அவள் சுட்டெரிக்கப்படவேண்டும் என்றான்.

And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.

அவள் வெளியே கொண்டுவரப்பட்டபோது, அவள் தன் மாமனிடத்துக்கு அந்த அடைமானத்தை அனுப்பி, இந்தப் பொருட்களை உடையவன் எவனோ அவனாலே நான் கர்ப்பவதியானேன்; இந்த முத்திரை மோதிரமும் இந்த ஆரமும் இந்தக் கோலும் யாருடையவைகள் பாரும் என்று சொல்லி அனுப்பினாள்.

When she was brought forth, she sent to her father in law, saying, By the man, whose these are, am I with child: and she said, Discern, I pray thee, whose are these, the signet, and bracelets, and staff.

யூதா அவைகளைப் பார்த்தறிந்து: என்னிலும் அவள் நீதியுள்ளவள்; அவளை என் குமாரனாகிய சேலாவுக்குக் கொடாமற்போனேனே என்றான். அப்புறம் அவன் அவளைச் சேரவில்லை.

And Judah acknowledged them, and said, She hath been more righteous than I; because that I gave her not to Shelah my son. And he knew her again no more.

அவளுக்குப் பிரசவகாலம் வந்தபோது, அவள் கர்ப்பத்தில் இரட்டைப்பிள்ளைகள் இருந்தன.

And it came to pass in the time of her travail, that, behold, twins were in her womb.

அவள் பெறுகிறபேது, ஒரு பிள்ளை கையை நீட்டினது; அப்பொழுது மருத்துவச்சி அதின் கையைப் பிடித்து, அதில் சிவப்புநூலைக் கட்டி, இது முதலாவது வெளிப்பட்டது என்றாள்.

And it came to pass, when she travailed, that the one put out his hand: and the midwife took and bound upon his hand a scarlet thread, saying, This came out first.

அது தன் கையைத் திரும்ப உள்ளே வாங்கிக்கொண்டபோது, அதின் சகோதரன் வெளிப்பட்டான். அப்பொழுது அவள்: நீ மீறிவந்ததென்ன, இந்த மீறுதல் உன்மேல் நிற்கும் என்றாள்; அதினாலே அவனுக்குப் பாரேஸ் என்று பேரிடப்பட்டது.

And it came to pass, as he drew back his hand, that, behold, his brother came out: and she said, How hast thou broken forth? this breach be upon thee: therefore his name was called Pharez.

பிற்பாடு கையில் சிவப்புநூல் கட்டியிருந்த அவனுடைய தம்பி வெளிப்பட்டான்; அவனுக்கு சேரா என்று பேரிடப்பட்டது.

And afterward came out his brother, that had the scarlet thread upon his hand: and his name was called Zarah.

ஆதியாகமம் அத்தியாயம் 39

யோசேப்பு எகிப்துக்குக் கொண்டு போகப்பட்டான். பார்வோனுடைய பிரதானியும் தலையாரிகளுக்கு அதிபதியுமாகிய போத்திபார் என்னும் எகிப்து தேசத்தான் அவனை அவ்விடத்திற்குக் கொண்டுவந்த இஸ்மவேலரிடத்தில் விலைக்கு வாங்கினான்.

And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.

கர்த்தர் யோசேப்போடே இருந்தார், அவன் காரியசித்தியுள்ளவனானான்; அவன் எகிப்தியனாகிய தன் எஜமானுடைய வீட்டிலே இருந்தான்.

And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

கர்த்தர் அவனோடே இருக்கிறார் என்றும், அவன் செய்கிற யாவையும் கர்த்தர் வாய்க்கப்பண்ணுகிறார் என்றும், அவன் எஜமான் கண்டு;

And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.

யோசேப்பினிடத்தில் தயவுவைத்து, அவனைத் தனக்கு ஊழியக்காரனும் தன் வீட்டுக்கு விசாரணைக்காரனுமாக்கி, தனக்கு உண்டான யாவற்றையும் அவன் கையில் ஒப்புவித்தான்.

And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.

அவனைத் தன் வீட்டுக்கும் தனக்கு உண்டான எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் விசாரணைக்காரனாக்கினது முதற்கொண்டு, கர்த்தர் யோசேப்பினிமித்தம் அந்த எகிப்தியன் வீட்டை ஆசீர்வதித்தார்; வீட்டிலும் வெளியிலும் அவனுக்கு உண்டானவைகள் எல்லாவற்றிலும் கர்த்தருடைய ஆசீர்வாதம் இருந்தது.

And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.

ஆகையால், அவன் தனக்கு உண்டானதையெல்லாம் யோசேப்பின் கையிலே ஒப்புக்கொடுத்துவிட்டு, தான் புசிக்கிற போஜனம் தவிர தன்னிடத்திலிருந்த மற்றொன்றைக்குறித்தும் விசாரியாதிருந்தான். யோசேப்பு அழகான ரூபமும் சௌந்தரிய முகமும் உள்ளவனாயிருந்தான்.

And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured.

சிலநாள் சென்றபின், அவனுடைய எஜமானின் மனைவி யோசேப்பின்மேல் கண்போட்டு, என்னோடே சயனி என்றாள்.

And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.

அவனோ தன் எஜமானுடைய மனைவியின் சொல்லுக்கு இணங்காமல், அவளை நோக்கி: இதோ, வீட்டிலே என்னிடத்தில் இருக்கிறவைகளில் யாதொன்றைக்குறித்தும் என் ஆண்டவன் விசாரியாமல், தமக்கு உண்டான எல்லாவற்றையும் என்கையில் ஒப்பித்திருக்கிறார்.

But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand;

இந்த வீட்டிலே என்னிலும் பெரியவன் இல்லை; நீ அவருடைய மனைவியாயிருக்கிறபடியால் உன்னைத்தவிர வேறோன்றையும் அவர் எனக்கு விலக்கி வைக்கவில்லை; இப்படியிருக்க, நான் இத்தனை பெரிய பொல்லாங்குக்கு உடன்பட்டு, தேவனுக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பாவம் செய்வது எப்படி என்றான்.

There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.

இப்படியிருக்கும்போது, ஒருநாள் அவன் தன் வேலையைச் செய்கிறதற்கு வீட்டுக்குள் போனான்; வீட்டு மனிதரில் ஒருவரும் வீட்டில் இல்லை.

And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within.

அப்பொழுது அவள் அவனுடைய வஸ்திரத்தைப் பற்றிப் பிடித்து, என்னோடே சயனி என்றாள். அவனோ தன் வஸ்திரத்தை அவள் கையிலே விட்டு வெளியே ஓடிப்போனான்.

And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.

அவன் தன் வஸ்திரத்தை அவள் கையிலே விட்டு வெளியே ஓடிப்போனதை அவள் கண்டபோது,

And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled forth,

அவள் தன் வீட்டு மனிதரைக் கூப்பிட்டு: பாருங்கள், எபிரெய மனுஷன் நம்மிடத்தில் சரசம்பண்ணும்படிக்கு அவனை நமக்குள் கொண்டுவந்தார், அவன் என்னோடே சயனிக்கும்படிக்கு என்னிடத்தில் வந்தான்; நான் மிகுந்த சத்தமிட்டுக் கூப்பிட்டேன்.

That she called unto the men of her house, and spake unto them, saying, See, he hath brought in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice:

நான் சத்தமிட்டுக் கூப்பிடுகிறதை அவன் கேட்டு, தன் வஸ்திரத்தை என்னிடத்தில் விட்டு, வெளியே ஓடிப்போய்விட்டான் என்று சொன்னாள்.

And it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled, and got him out.

அவனுடைய எஜமான் வீட்டுக்கு வருமளவும் அவனுடைய வஸ்திரத்தைத் தன்னிடத்தில் வைத்திருந்து,

And she laid up his garment by her, until his lord came home.

அவனை நோக்கி: நீர் நம்மிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்த அந்த எபிரெய வேலைக்காரன் சரசம்பண்ணும்படிக்கு என்னிடத்தில் வந்தான்.

And she spake unto him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant, which thou hast brought unto us, came in unto me to mock me:

அப்பொழுது நான் சத்தமிட்டுக்கூப்பிட்டேன், அவன் தன் வஸ்திரத்தை என்னிடத்தில் விட்டு வெளியே ஓடிப்போனான் என்றாள்.

And it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled out.

உம்முடைய வேலைக்காரன் எனக்கு இப்படிச் செய்தான் என்று தன் மனைவி தன்னோடே சொன்ன வார்த்தைகளை அவனுடைய எஜமான் கேட்டபோது, அவனுக்குக் கோபம் மூண்டது.

And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spake unto him, saying, After this manner did thy servant to me; that his wrath was kindled.

யோசேப்பின் எஜமான் அவனைப்பிடித்து, ராஜாவின் கட்டளையால் காவலில் வைக்கப்பட்டவர்கள் இருக்கும் சிறைச்சாலையிலே அவனை ஒப்புவித்தான். அந்தச் சிறைச்சாலையில் அவன் இருந்தான்.

And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison.

கர்த்தரோ யோசேப்போடே இருந்து, அவன்மேல் கிருபைவைத்து, சிறைச்சாலைத் தலைவனுடைய தயவு அவனுக்குக் கிடைக்கும்படி செய்தார்.

But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

சிறைச்சாலைத் தலைவன் சிறைச்சாலையில் வைக்கப்பட்ட யாவரையும் யோசேப்பின் கையிலே ஒப்புவித்தான்; அங்கே அவர்கள் செய்வதெல்லாவற்றையும் யோசேப்பு செய்வித்தான்.

And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it.

கர்த்தர் அவனோடே இருந்தபடியினாலும், அவன் எதைச் செய்தானோ அதைக் கர்த்தர் வாய்க்கப்பண்ணினபடியினாலும், அவன் வசமாயிருந்த யாதொன்றையும் குறித்துச் சிறைச்சாலைத் தலைவன் விசாரிக்கவில்லை.

The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper.

ஆதியாகமம் அத்தியாயம் 40

இந்த நடபடிகளுக்குப்பின்பு, எகிப்து ராஜாவுக்குப் பானபாத்திரக்காரனும் சுயம்பாகியும் எகிப்து ராஜாவாகிய தங்கள் ஆண்டவனுக்குக் குற்றம் செய்தார்கள்.

And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt.

பார்வோன் தன் பானபாத்திரக்காரரின் தலைவனும் சுயம்பாகிகளின் தலைவனும் ஆகிய இவ்விரண்டு பிரதானிகள் மேலும் கடுங்கோபங்கொண்டு,

And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.

அவர்களை யோசேப்பு வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த இடமும் தலையாரிகளின் அதிபதியின் வீடுமாகிய சிறைச்சாலையிலே காவல்பண்ணுவித்தான்.

And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.

தலையாரிகளின் அதிபதி அவர்களை விசாரிக்கும்படி யோசேப்பின் வசத்தில் ஒப்புவித்தான்; அவன் அவர்களை விசாரித்து வந்தான்; அவர்கள் அநேகநாள் காவலில் இருந்தார்கள்.

And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them: and they continued a season in ward.

எகிப்து ராஜாவுக்குப் பானபாத்திரக்காரனும் சுயம்பாகியுமாகிய அவ்விரண்டுபேரும் சிறைச்சாலையில் இருக்கும்போது, ஒரே ராத்திரியிலே வெவ்வேறு பொருள்கொண்ட சொப்பனம் கண்டார்கள்.

And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison.

காலமே யோசேப்பு அவர்களிடத்தில் போய், அவர்களைப் பார்க்கும்போது, அவர்கள் கலங்கியிருந்தார்கள்.

And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they were sad.

அப்பொழுது அவன் தன் எஜமானுடைய வீட்டில் தன்னோடே காவல்பண்ணப்பட்டிருந்த பார்வோனுடைய பிரதானிகளை நோக்கி: உங்கள் முகங்கள் இன்று துக்கமாயிருக்கிறது என்ன என்று கேட்டான்.

And he asked Pharaoh's officers that were with him in the ward of his lord's house, saying, Wherefore look ye so sadly to day?

And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you.

அப்பொழுது பானபாத்திரக்காரரின் தலைவன் யோசேப்பை நோக்கி: என் சொப்பனத்திலே ஒரு திராட்சச்செடி எனக்கு முன்பாக இருக்கக்கண்டேன்.

And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me;

அந்தத் திராட்சச்செடியிலே மூன்று கொடிகள் இருந்தது; அது துளிர்க்கிறதாயிருந்தது; அதில் பூக்கள் மலர்ந்திருந்தது; அதின் குலைகள் பழுத்த பழங்களாயிருந்தது.

And in the vine were three branches: and it was as though it budded, and her blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes:

பார்வோனுடைய பாத்திரம் என்கையிலே இருந்தது; நான் அந்தப் பழங்களைப் பறித்து, அவைகளைப் பார்வோனுடைய பாத்திரத்தில் பிழிந்து, அந்தப் பாத்திரத்தைப் பார்வோனுடைய கையிலே கொடுத்தேன் என்று, தன் சொப்பனத்தைச் சொன்னான்.

And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand: and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.

அதற்கு யோசேப்பு: அந்த மூன்று கொடிகளும் மூன்று நாளாம்.

And Joseph said unto him, This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days:

மூன்று நாளைக்குள்ளே பார்வோன் உன் தலையை உயர்த்தி, உன்னை மறுபடியும் உன் நிலையிலே நிறுத்துவார்; முன்னே அவருக்குப் பானம் கொடுத்துவந்த வழக்கத்தின்படி பார்வோனின் பாத்திரத்தை அவர் கையிலே கொடுப்பாய்;

Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler.

இதுதான் அதின் அர்த்தம் என்று சொன்னதும் அன்றி நீ வாழ்வடைந்திருக்கும்போது, என்னை நினைத்து, என்மேல் தயவுவைத்து, என் காரியத்தைப் பார்வோனுக்கு அறிவித்து, இந்த இடத்திலிருந்து என்னை விடுதலையாக்கவேண்டும்.

But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:

நான் எபிரெயருடைய தேசத்திலிருந்து களவாய்க் கொண்டுவரப்பட்டேன்; என்னை இந்தக் காவல்கிடங்கில் வைக்கும்படிக்கும் நான் இவ்விடத்தில் ஒன்றும் செய்யவில்லை என்றும் சொன்னான்.

For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.

அர்த்தம் நன்றாயிருக்கிறது என்று சுயம்பாகிகளின் தலைவன் கண்டு, யோசேப்பை நோக்கி: நானும் என் சொப்பனத்தில் மூன்று வெள்ளைக் கூடைகள் என் தலையின்மேல் இருக்கக்கண்டேன்;

When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets on my head:

மேற்கூடையிலே பார்வோனுக்காக சமைக்கப்பட்ட சகலவித பலகாரங்களிலும் கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சம் இருந்தது; என் தலையின் மேல் கூடையில் இருந்தவைகளைப் பறவைகள் வந்து பட்சித்தது என்றான்.

And in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of bakemeats for Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head.

அதற்கு யோசேப்பு: அந்த மூன்று கூடைகளும் மூன்று நாளாம்.

And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation thereof: The three baskets are three days:

இன்னும் மூன்று நாளைக்குள்ளே பார்வோன் உன் தலையை உயர்த்தி, உன்னை மரத்திலே தூக்கிப்போடுவார்; அப்பொழுது பறவைகள் உன் மாம்சத்தைத் தின்னும், இதுதான் அதின் அர்த்தம் என்று சொன்னான்.

Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.

மூன்றாம் நாள் பார்வோனுடைய ஜன்ம நாளாயிருந்தது; அவன் தன் ஊழியக்காரர் எல்லாருக்கும் விருந்துபண்ணி, பானபாத்திரக்காரருடைய தலைவன் தலையையும் சுயம்பாகிகளுடைய தலைவன் தலையையும் தன் உத்தியோகஸ்தரின் நடுவே உயர்த்தி,

And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.

பானபாத்திரக்காரரின் தலைவனைப் பானங்கொடுக்கிற தன் உத்தியோகத்திலே மறுபடியும் வைத்தான்; அந்தப்படியே அவன் பார்வோனுடைய கையிலே பாத்திரத்தைக் கொடுத்தான்.

And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand:

சுயம்பாகிகளின் தலைவனையோ தூக்கிப்போட்டான். யோசேப்பு அவர்களுக்குச் சொன்ன அர்த்தத்தின்படியே சம்பவித்தது.

But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them.

ஆனாலும் பானபாத்திரக்காரனின் தலைவன் யோசேப்பை நினையாமல் அவனை மறந்துவிட்டான்.

Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.

மத்தேயு அத்தியாயம் 22

இயேசு மறுபடியும் அவர்களோடே உவமைகளாய்ப் பேசிச் சொன்னது என்னவென்றால்:

And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,

பரலோகராஜ்யம் தன் குமாரனுக்குக் கலியாணஞ்செய்த ஒரு ராஜாவுக்கு ஒப்பாயிருக்கிறது.

The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,

அழைக்கப்பட்டவர்களைக் கலியாணத்திற்கு வரச்சொல்லும்படி அவன் தன் ஊழியக்காரரை அனுப்பினான்; அவர்களோ வர மனதில்லாதிருந்தார்கள்.

And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.

அப்பொழுது அவன் வேறு ஊழியக்காரரை அழைத்து: நீங்கள் போய், இதோ, என் விருந்தை ஆயத்தம்பண்ணினேன், என் எருதுகளும் கொழுத்த ஜெந்துக்களும் அடிக்கப்பட்டது, எல்லாம் ஆயத்தமாயிருக்கிறது; கலியாணத்திற்கு வாருங்கள் என்று அழைக்கப்பட்டவர்களுக்குச் சொல்லுங்களென்று அனுப்பினான்.

Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.

அழைக்கப்பட்டவர்களோ அதை அசட்டைபண்ணி, ஒருவன் தன் வயலுக்கும், ஒருவன் தன் வியாபாரத்துக்கும் போய்விட்டார்கள்.

But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:

மற்றவர்கள் அவன் ஊழியக்காரரைப் பிடித்து, அவமானப்படுத்தி, கொலைசெய்தார்கள்.

And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.

ராஜா அதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டு, கோபமடைந்து, தன் சேனைகளை அனுப்பி, அந்தக் கொலைபாதகரை அழித்து, அவர்கள் பட்டணத்தையும் சுட்டெரித்தான்.

But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.

அப்பொழுது, அவன் தன் ஊழியக்காரரை நோக்கி: கலியாண விருந்து ஆயத்தமாயிருக்கிறது, அழைக்கப்பட்டவர்களோ அதற்கு அபாத்திரராய்ப் போனார்கள்.

Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.

ஆகையால், நீங்கள் வழிச்சந்திகளிலே போய், காணப்படுகிற யாவரையும் கலியாணத்திற்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவாருங்கள் என்றான்.

Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.

அந்த ஊழியக்காரர் புறப்பட்டு, வழிகளிலே போய், தாங்கள் கண்ட நல்லார் பொல்லார் யாவரையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்; கலியாணசாலை விருந்தாளிகளால் நிறைந்தது.

So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.

விருந்தாளிகளைப் பார்க்கும்படி ராஜா உள்ளே பிரவேசித்தபோது, கலியாண வஸ்திரம் தரித்திராத ஒரு மனுஷனை அங்கே கண்டு:

And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:

சிநேகிதனே, நீ கலியாண வஸ்திரமில்லாதவனாய் இங்கே எப்படி வந்தாய் என்று கேட்டான்; அதற்கு அவன் பேசாமலிருந்தான்.

And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.

அப்பொழுது, ராஜா பணிவிடைக்காரரை நோக்கி: இவனைக் கையுங்காலும் கட்டிக் கொண்டுபோய், அழுகையும் பற்கடிப்பும் உண்டாயிருக்கிற புறம்பான இருளிலே போடுங்கள் என்றான்.

Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

அந்தப்படியே, அழைக்கப்பட்டவர்கள் அநேகர், தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்டவர்களோ சிலர் என்றார்.

For many are called, but few are chosen.

அப்பொழுது, பரிசேயர் போய், பேச்சிலே அவரை அகப்படுத்தும்படி யோசனைபண்ணி,

Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk.

தங்கள் சீஷரையும் ஏரோதியரையும் அவரிடத்தில் அனுப்பினார்கள். அவர்கள் வந்து: போதகரே, நீர் சத்தியமுள்ளவரென்றும், தேவனுடைய மார்க்கத்தைச் சத்தியமாய்ப் போதிக்கிறவரென்றும், நீர் முகதாட்சிணியம் இல்லாதவராகையால் எவனைக்குறித்தும் உமக்குக் கவலையில்லையென்றும் அறிந்திருக்கிறோம்.

And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.

ஆதலால், உமக்கு எப்படித் தோன்றுகிறது? இராயனுக்கு வரிகொடுக்கிறது நியாயமோ, அல்லவோ? அதை எங்களுக்குச் சொல்லும் என்று கேட்டார்கள்.

Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?

இயேசு அவர்கள் துர்க்குணத்தை அறிந்து: மாயக்காரரே, நீங்கள் என்னை ஏன் சோதிக்கிறீர்கள்?

But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?

வரிக்காசை எனக்குக் காண்பியுங்கள் என்றார்; அவர்கள் ஒரு பணத்தை அவரிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்.

Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.

அப்பொழுது அவர்: இந்தச் சுரூபமும் மேலெழுத்தும் யாருடையது என்று கேட்டார்.

And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?

இராயனுடையது என்றார்கள். அதற்கு அவர்: அப்படியானால், இராயனுடையதை இராயனுக்கும், தேவனுடையதை தேவனுக்கும் செலுத்துங்கள் என்றார்.

They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.

அவர்கள் அதைக்கேட்டு ஆச்சரியப்பட்டு அவரை விட்டுப் போய்விட்டார்கள்.

When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.

உயிர்த்தெழுதல் இல்லை என்று சாதிக்கிற சதுசேயர் அன்றையதினம் அவரிடத்தில் வந்து:

The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,

போதகரே, ஒருவன் சந்தானம் இல்லாமல் இறந்துபோனால், அவனுடைய சகோதரன் அவன் மனைவியை விவாகம்பண்ணி, தன் சகோதரனுக்குச் சந்தானம் உண்டாக்கவேண்டும் என்று மோசே சொன்னாரே.

Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

எங்களுக்குள்ளே சகோதரர் ஏழுபேர் இருந்தார்கள்; மூத்தவன் விவாகம்பண்ணி, மரித்து, சந்தானமில்லாததினால் தன் மனைவியைத் தன் சகோதரனுக்கு விட்டுவிட்டுப்போனான்.

Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:

அப்படியே இரண்டாம் மூன்றாம் சகோதரன்முதல் ஏழாம் சகோதரன்வரைக்கும் செய்தார்கள்.

Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.

எல்லாருக்கும் பின்பு அந்த ஸ்திரீயும் இறந்துபோனாள்.

And last of all the woman died also.

ஆகையால், உயிர்த்தெழுதலில் அவ்வேழுபேரில் எவனுக்கு அவள் மனைவியாயிருப்பாள்? அவர்கள் எல்லாரும் அவளை விவாகம்பண்ணியிருந்தார்களே என்று கேட்டார்கள்.

Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.

இயேசு அவர்களுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: நீங்கள் வேதவாக்கியங்களையும், தேவனுடைய வல்லமையையும் அறியாமல் தப்பான எண்ணங்கொள்ளுகிறீர்கள்.

Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

உயிர்தெழுதலில் கொள்வனையும் கொடுப்பனையும் இல்லை; அவர்கள் பரலோகத்திலே தேவதூதரைப்போல் இருப்பார்கள்;

For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

மேலும் மரித்தோர் உயிர்த்தெழுதலைப்பற்றி: நான் ஆபிரகாமின் தேவனும், ஈசாக்கின் தேவனும், யாக்கோபின் தேவனுமாயிருக்கிறேன் என்று தேவனால் உங்களுக்கு உரைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறதை நீங்கள் வாசிக்கவில்லையா?

But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,

தேவன் மரித்தோருக்கு தேவனாயிராமல், ஜீவனுள்ளோருக்கு தேவனாயிருக்கிறார் என்றார்.

I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

ஜனங்கள் இதைக் கேட்டு, அவருடைய போதகத்தைக்குறித்து ஆச்சரியப்பட்டார்கள்.

And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine.

அவர் சதுசேயரை வாயடைத்தார் என்று பரிசேயர் கேள்விப்பட்டு, அவரிடத்தில் கூடிவந்தார்கள்.

But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.

அவர்களில் நியாயசாஸ்திரி ஒருவன் அவரைச் சோதிக்கும்படி:

Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,

போதகரே, நியாயப்பிரமாணத்திலே எந்தக் கற்பனை பிரதானமானது என்று கேட்டான்.

Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

இயேசு அவனை நோக்கி: உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரிடத்தில் உன் முழு இருதயத்தோடும் உன் முழு ஆத்துமாவோடும் உன் முழு மனதோடும் அன்புகூருவாயாக;

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

இது முதலாம் பிரதான கற்பனை.

This is the first and great commandment.

இதற்கு ஒப்பாயிருக்கிற இரண்டாம் கற்பனை என்னவென்றால், உன்னிடத்தில் நீ அன்புகூருவதுபோலப் பிறனிடத்திலும் அன்புகூருவாயாக என்பதே.

And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

இவ்விரண்டு கற்பனைகளிலும் நியாயப்பிரமாணம் முழுமையும் தீர்க்கதரிசனங்களும் அடங்கியிருக்கிறது என்றார்.

On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

பரிசேயர் கூடியிருக்கையில், இயேசு அவர்களை நோக்கி:

While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,

கிறிஸ்துவைக்குறித்து நீங்கள் என்ன நினைக்கிறீர்கள், அவர் யாருடைய குமாரன்? என்று கேட்டார். அவர் தாவீதின் குமாரன் என்றார்கள்.

Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David.

அதற்கு அவர்: அப்படியானால், தாவீது பரிசுத்த ஆவியினாலே அவரை ஆண்டவர் என்று சொல்லியிருக்கிறது எப்படி?

He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,

நான் உம்முடைய சத்துருக்களை உமக்குப் பாதபடியாக்கிப்போடும்வரைக்கும் நீர் என்னுடைய வலதுபாரிசத்தில் உட்காரும் என்று கர்த்தர் என் ஆண்டவரோடே சொன்னார் என்று சொல்லியிருக்கிறானே.

The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?

தாவீது அவரை ஆண்டவர் என்று சொல்லியிருக்க, அவனுக்கு அவர் குமாரனாயிருப்பது எப்படி என்றார்.

If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?

அதற்கு மாறுத்தரமாக ஒருவனும் அவருக்கு ஒரு வார்த்தையும் சொல்லக்கூடாதிருந்தது. அன்றுமுதல் ஒருவனும் அவரிடத்தில் கேள்விகேட்கத் துணியவில்லை.

And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.
