2இராஜாக்கள் அத்தியாயம் 12

யெகூவின் ஏழாம் வருஷத்தில் யோவாஸ் ராஜாவாகி, எருசலேமிலே நாற்பது வருஷம் ராஜ்யபாரம் பண்ணினான்; பெயெர்செபா ஊராளாகிய அவனுடைய தாயின் பேர் சிபியாள்.

In the seventh year of Jehu Jehoash began to reign; and forty years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Zibiah of Beersheba.

ஆசாரியனாகிய யோய்தா யோவாசைப் போதகம்பண்ணின நாளெல்லாம் அவன் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையானதைச் செய்தான்.

And Jehoash did that which was right in the sight of the LORD all his days wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him.

மேடைகளை மாத்திரம் அகற்றவில்லை; ஜனங்கள் இன்னும் மேடைகள்மேல் பலியிட்டுத் தூபங்காட்டி வந்தார்கள்.

But the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.

யோவாஸ் ஆசாரியரை நோக்கி: பிரதிஷ்டையாக்கப்பட்ட பொருள்களாகிய கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்துக்குக் கொண்டுவரப்படுகிற எல்லாப் பணங்களையும், இலக்கத்திற்குட்படுகிறவர்களின் பணத்தையும், மீட்புக்காக மதிக்கப்படுகிற ஆட்களின் பணத்தையும், கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்துக்குக் கொண்டுவரும்படி, அவரவர் தம்தம் மனதிலே நியமித்திருக்கும் எல்லாப் பணத்தையும்,

And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the dedicated things that is brought into the house of the LORD, even the money of every one that passeth the account, the money that every man is set at, and all the money that cometh into any man's heart to bring into the house of the LORD,

ஆசாரியர்கள் அவரவர் தங்களுக்கு அறிமுகமானவர்கள் கையில் வாங்கிக்கொண்டு, ஆலயத்தில் எங்கெங்கே பழுது காண்கிறதோ, அங்கேயெல்லாம் ஆலயத்தைப் பழுதுபார்க்கவேண்டும் என்றான்.

Let the priests take it to them, every man of his acquaintance: and let them repair the breaches of the house, wheresoever any breach shall be found.

ஆனாலும் ராஜாவாகிய யோவாசின் இருபத்துமூன்றாம் வருஷமட்டும் ஆசாரியர்கள் ஆலயத்தைப் பழுதுபாராதேபோனபடியினால்,

But it was so, that in the three and twentieth year of king Jehoash the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house.

ராஜாவாகிய யோவாஸ் ஆசாரியனாகிய யோய்தாவையும் மற்ற ஆசாரியர்களையும் அழைப்பித்து: நீங்கள் ஆலயத்தைப் பழுதுபாராதேபோனதென்ன? இனி நீங்கள் உங்களுக்கு அறிமுகமானவர்கள் கையிலே பணத்தை வாங்காமல், அதை ஆலயத்தைப் பழுதுபார்க்கிறதற்காக விட்டுவிடுங்கள் என்றான்.

Then king Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and the other priests, and said unto them, Why repair ye not the breaches of the house? now therefore receive no more money of your acquaintance, but deliver it for the breaches of the house.

அப்பொழுது ஆசாரியர்கள் ஜனத்தின் கையிலே பணத்தை வாங்கிக்கொள்ளாமலும், ஆலயத்தைப் பழுதுபாராமலும் இருக்கிறதற்குச் சம்மதித்தார்கள்.

And the priests consented to receive no more money of the people, neither to repair the breaches of the house.

ஆசாரியனாகிய யோய்தா ஒரு பெட்டியை எடுத்து, அதின் மூடியிலே ஒரு துவாரமிட்டு, அதைப் பலிபீடத்தண்டையிலே கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தில் ஜனங்கள் உட்பிரவேசிக்கும் வலதுபக்கத்தில் வைத்தான்; வாசற்படியைக் காக்கிற ஆசாரியர்கள் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திற்குக் கொண்டுவரப்பட்ட பணத்தையெல்லாம் அதிலே போட்டார்கள்.

But Jehoiada the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in the lid of it, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one cometh into the house of the LORD: and the priests that kept the door put therein all the money that was brought into the house of the LORD.

பெட்டியிலே மிகுந்த பணம் உண்டென்று அவர்கள் காணும்போது, ராஜாவின் சம்பிரதியும் பிரதான ஆசாரியனும் வந்து: கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலே சேகரிக்கப்பட்ட பணத்தை எண்ணி முடிப்புக்கட்டி,

And it was so, when they saw that there was much money in the chest, that the king's scribe and the high priest came up, and they put up in bags, and told the money that was found in the house of the LORD.

எண்ணின பணத்தைக் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலே விசாரிப்புக்காரர் கையிலே கொடுப்பார்கள்; அதை அவர்கள் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தைப் பழுதுபார்க்கிற தச்சருக்கும், சிற்பாசாரிகளுக்கும்,

And they gave the money, being told, into the hands of them that did the work, that had the oversight of the house of the LORD: and they laid it out to the carpenters and builders, that wrought upon the house of the LORD,

கொற்றருக்கும், கல்தச்சருக்கும், கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தைப் பழுதுபார்க்கத் தேவையான மரங்களையும் வெட்டின கற்களையும் கொள்ளுகிறதற்கும், ஆலயத்தைப் பழுதுபார்க்கிறதற்குச் செல்லும் எல்லாச் செலவுக்கும் கொடுப்பார்கள்.

And to masons, and hewers of stone, and to buy timber and hewed stone to repair the breaches of the house of the LORD, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it.

கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்துக்குக் கொண்டுவரப்பட்ட பணத்தினாலே வெள்ளிக்கிண்ணங்களும், கீதவாத்தியங்களும், கலங்களும், எக்காளங்களும், பொற்பாத்திரங்களும், வெள்ளிப் பாத்திரங்களும் பண்ணப்படாமல்,

Howbeit there were not made for the house of the LORD bowls of silver, snuffers, basons, trumpets, any vessels of gold, or vessels of silver, of the money that was brought into the house of the LORD:

கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தைப் பழுது பார்க்கும்படிக்கு வேலை செய்கிறவர்களுக்கே அதைக் கொடுத்தார்கள்.

But they gave that to the workmen, and repaired therewith the house of the LORD.

வேலைசெய்கிறவர்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கும்படிக்கு, பணத்தை வரப்பற்றிக்கொண்ட மனுஷர் கையிலே கணக்குக் கேளாதிருந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் உண்மையாய் அதை நடப்பித்தார்கள்.

Moreover they reckoned not with the men, into whose hand they delivered the money to be bestowed on workmen: for they dealt faithfully.

குற்றப்பிராயசித்தப் பணமும் பாவபிராயசித்தப் பணமும் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திற்காகக் கொண்டுவரப்படவில்லை; அது ஆசாரியரைச் சேர்ந்தது.

The trespass money and sin money was not brought into the house of the LORD: it was the priests'.

அதற்குப் பின்பு சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆசகேல் வந்து, காத்தூரின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ணி அதைப் பிடித்தான்; அதின் பின்பு எருசலேமுக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் போக ஆசகேல் தன் முகத்தைத் திருப்பினான்.

Then Hazael king of Syria went up, and fought against Gath, and took it: and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem.

அப்பொழுது யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோவாஸ், தன் பிதாக்களாகிய யோசபாத் யோராம் அகசியா என்னும் யூதாவின் ராஜாக்கள் பரிசுத்தம்பண்ணிவைத்த எல்லாவற்றையும், தான் பரிசுத்தம் பண்ணிவைத்ததையும், கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலும் ராஜாவின் அரமனையிலுமுள்ள பொக்கிஷங்களில் அகப்பட்ட பொன் யாவையும் எடுத்து சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆசகேலுக்கு அனுப்பினான்; அப்பொழுது அவன் எருசலேமை விட்டுத் திரும்பிப்போனான்.

And Jehoash king of Judah took all the hallowed things that Jehoshaphat, and Jehoram, and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own hallowed things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and in the king's house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria: and he went away from Jerusalem.

யோவாசின் மற்ற வர்த்தமானங்களும், அவன் செய்தவை யாவும் யூதாவுடைய ராஜாக்களின் நாளாகமப் புஸ்தகத்தில் அல்லவோ எழுதியிருக்கிறது.

And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

யோவாசின் ஊழியக்காரர் எழும்பி கட்டுப்பாடு பண்ணிக்கொண்டு, சில்லாவுக்குப் போகிற வழியிலிருக்கிற மில்லோ வீட்டிலே அவனைக் கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள்.

And his servants arose, and made a conspiracy, and slew Joash in the house of Millo, which goeth down to Silla.

சிமியாதின் குமாரன், யோசகார் சோமேரின் குமாரன் யோசபாத் என்னும் அவனுடைய ஊழியக்காரர் அவனைக் கொன்றார்கள்; இறந்துபோன அவனைத் தாவீதின் நகரத்தில் அவனுடைய பிதாக்களண்டையிலே அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்; அவன் குமாரனாகிய அமத்சியா அவன் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவானான்.

For Jozachar the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, smote him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Amaziah his son reigned in his stead.

அகசியா என்னும் யூதாவுடைய ராஜாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாசுடைய இருபத்துமூன்றாம் வருஷத்தில் யெகூவின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாகாஸ் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் சமாரியாவிலே பதினேழுவருஷம் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணி,

In the three and twentieth year of Joash the son of Ahaziah king of Judah Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned seventeen years.

கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்து, இஸ்ரவேலைப் பாவஞ்செய்யப்பண்ணின நேபாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய யெரொபெயாமின் பாவங்களைப் பின்பற்றி நடந்தான்; அவைகளை விட்டு அவன் விலகவில்லை.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom.

ஆகையால் கர்த்தருக்கு இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் கோபமூண்டு, அவர்களைச் சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆசகேலின் கையிலும் ஆசகேலின் குமாரனாகிய பெனாதாத்தின் கையிலும் அந்நாட்களிலெல்லாம் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்.

And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael, all their days.

யோவாகாஸ் கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தை நோக்கிப் பிரார்த்தித்தான்; சீரியாவின் ராஜா இஸ்ரவேலை ஒடுக்குகிறதினால் அவர்கள் ஒடுங்கிப்போகிறதைப் பார்த்து: கர்த்தர் அவனுக்குச் செவிகொடுத்தார்.

And Jehoahaz besought the LORD, and the LORD hearkened unto him: for he saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them.

கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு ஒரு ரட்சகனைக் கொடுத்ததினால், அவர்கள் சீரியருடைய கையின்கீழிருந்து நீங்கலானார்கள்; ஆதலால் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் முன்போல் தங்கள் கூடாரங்களிலே குடியிருந்தார்கள்.

(And the LORD gave Israel a saviour, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents, as beforetime.

ஆகிலும் இஸ்ரவேலைப் பாவஞ்செய்யப்பண்ணின யெரொபெயாம் வீட்டாரின் பாவங்களை அவர்கள் விட்டு விலகாமல் அதிலே நடந்தார்கள்; சமாரியாவிலிருந்த விக்கிரகத்தோப்பும் நிலையாயிருந்தது.

Nevertheless they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who made Israel sin, but walked therein: and there remained the grove also in Samaria.)

யோவாகாசுக்குச் சீரியாவின் ராஜா, ஐம்பது குதிரைவீரரையும், பத்து இரதங்களையும், பதினாயிரம் காலாட்களையுமே அல்லாமல், ஜனங்களில் வேறொன்றும் மீதியாக வைக்கவில்லை; அவன் அவர்களை அழித்துப் போரடிக்கும் இடத்துத் தூளைப்போல ஆக்கிப்போட்டான்.

Neither did he leave of the people to Jehoahaz but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like the dust by threshing.

யோவாகாசின் மற்ற வர்த்தமானங்களும், அவன் செய்தவை யாவும், அவனுடைய வல்லமையும் இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் நாளாகமப் புஸ்தகத்தில் அல்லவோ எழுதியிருக்கிறது.

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

யோவாகாஸ் தன் பிதாக்களோடே நித்திரையடைந்தபின், அவனைச் சமாரியாவிலே அடக்கம் பண்ணினார்கள்; அவன் குமாரனாகிய யோவாஸ் அவன் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவானான்.

And Jehoahaz slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria: and Joash his son reigned in his stead.

யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோவாசுடைய முப்பத்தேழாம் வருஷத்தில் யோவாகாசின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாஸ், இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாகி சமாரியாவிலே பதினாறுவருஷம் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணி,

In the thirty and seventh year of Joash king of Judah began Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned sixteen years.

கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தான்; இஸ்ரவேலைப் பாவஞ்செய்யப்பண்ணின நேபாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய யெரொபெயாமின் பாவங்களை விட்டு விலகாமல் அவைகளிலெல்லாம் நடந்தான்.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel sin: but he walked therein.

And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, and his might wherewith he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

யோவாஸ் தன் பிதாக்களோடே நித்திரையடைந்தபின், யெரொபெயாம் அவன் சிங்காசனத்தில் வீற்றிருந்தான்; யோவாஸ் சமாரியாவில் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாக்களண்டையிலே அடக்கம்பண்ணப்பட்டான்.

And Joash slept with his fathers; and Jeroboam sat upon his throne: and Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.

அவன் நாட்களில் எலிசா மரணத்துக்கு ஏதுவான வியாதியாய்க் கிடந்தான்; அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய யோவாஸ் அவனிடத்துக்குப் போய், அவன்மேல் விழுந்து, அழுது: என் தகப்பனே, என் தகப்பனே, இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு இரதமும் குதிரைவீரருமாயிருந்தவரே என்றான்.

Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.

எலிசா அவனைப் பார்த்து: வில்லையும் அம்புகளையும் பிடியும் என்றான்; அப்படியே வில்லையும் அம்புகளையும் பிடித்துக்கொண்டான்.

And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow and arrows.

அப்பொழுது அவன் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவை நோக்கி: உம்முடைய கையை வில்லின்மேல் வையும் என்றான்; அவன் தன் கையை வைத்தபோது, எலிசா தன் கைகளை ராஜாவுடைய கைகள்மேல் வைத்து:

And he said to the king of Israel, Put thine hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it: and Elisha put his hands upon the king's hands.

கிழக்கே இருக்கிற ஜன்னலைத் திறவும் என்றான்; அவன் அதைத் திறந்தபோது, எலிசா: எய்யும் என்றான்; இவன் எய்தபோது, அவன்: அது கர்த்தருடைய ரட்சிப்பின் அம்பும், சீரியரினின்று விடுதலையாக்கும் ரட்சிப்பின் அம்புமானது; நீர் ஆப்பெக்கிலே சீரியரைத் தீர முறிய அடிப்பீர் என்றான்.

And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD'S deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them.

பின்பு அம்புகளைப் பிடியும் என்றான்; அவைகளைப் பிடித்தான். அப்பொழுது அவன் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவை நோக்கி: தரையிலே அடியும் என்றான்; அவன் மூன்று தரம் அடித்து நின்றான்.

And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed.

அப்பொழுது தேவனுடைய மனுஷன் அவன்மேல் கோபமாகி: நீர் ஐந்து ஆறுவிசை அடித்தீரானால், அப்பொழுது சீரியரைத் தீர முறிய அடிப்பீர்; இப்பொழுதோ சீரியரை மூன்றுவிசை மாத்திரம் முறிய அடிப்பீர் என்றான்.

And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.

எலிசா மரணமடைந்தான்; அவனை அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்; மறுவருஷத்திலே மோவாபியரின் தண்டுகள் தேசத்திலே வந்தது.

And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.

அப்பொழுது அவர்கள், ஒரு மனுஷனை அடக்கம்பண்ணப்போகையில், அந்தத் தண்டைக் கண்டு, அந்த மனுஷனை எலிசாவின் கல்லறையில் போட்டார்கள்; அந்த மனுஷனின் பிரேதம் அதிலே விழுந்து எலிசாவின் எலும்புகளின்மேல் பட்டபோது, அந்த மனுஷன் உயிரடைந்து தன் கால்களை ஊன்றி எழுந்திருந்தான்.

And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.

யோவாகாசின் நாட்களிலெல்லாம் சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆசகேல் இஸ்ரவேலை ஒடுக்கினான்.

But Hazael king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.

ஆனாலும் கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்கு இரங்கி, ஆபிரகாம் ஈசாக்கு யாக்கோபு என்பவர்களோடு செய்த தமது உடன்படிக்கையினிமித்தம் அவர்களை அழிக்கச் சித்தமாயிராமலும், அவர்களை இன்னும் தம்முடைய முகத்தைவிட்டுத் தள்ளாமலும் அவர்கள்மேல் மனதுருகி, அவர்களை நினைத்தருளினார்.

And the LORD was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his presence as yet.

சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆசகேல் இறந்துபோய், அவன் குமாரனாகிய பெனாதாத் அவன் ஸ்தானத்திலே ராஜாவான பின்பு,

So Hazael king of Syria died; and Benhadad his son reigned in his stead.

யோவாகாசின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாஸ், ஆசகேலோடே யுத்தம்பண்ணி, தன் தகப்பனாகிய யோவாகாசின் கையிலிருந்து பிடித்துக்கொண்ட பட்டணங்களை அவன் குமாரனாகிய பெனாதாத்தின் கையிலிருந்து திரும்பப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டான்; மூன்று விசை யோவாஸ் அவனை முறிய அடித்து இஸ்ரவேலின் பட்டணங்களைத் திரும்பக் கட்டிக்கொண்டான்.

And Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael the cities, which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Three times did Joash beat him, and recovered the cities of Israel.

தீத்து அத்தியாயம் 1

தேவனுடைய ஊழியக்காரனும், இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவினுடைய அப்போஸ்தலனுமாகிய பவுல், பொதுவான விசுவாசத்தின்படி உத்தம குமாரனாகிய தீத்துவுக்கு எழுதுகிறதாவது:

Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;

பிதாவாகிய தேவனாலும், நம்முடைய இரட்சகராயிருக்கிற கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவினாலும், கிருபையும் இரக்கமும் சமாதானமும் உண்டாவதாக.

In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

பொய்யுரையாத தேவன் ஆதிகாலமுதல் நித்திய ஜீவனைக்குறித்து வாக்குத்தத்தம்பண்ணி, அதைக்குறித்த நம்பிக்கையைப்பற்றி தேவபக்திக்கேதுவான சத்தியத்தை அறிகிற அறிவும் விசுவாசமும் தேவனால் தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்டவர்களுக்கு உண்டாகும்படி,

But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

ஏற்றகாலங்களிலே நம்முடைய இரட்சகராகிய தேவனுடைய கட்டளையின்படி எனக்கு ஒப்புவிக்கப்பட்ட பிரசங்கத்தினாலே தமது வார்த்தையை வெளிப்படுத்தினார்.

To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

நீ குறைவாயிருக்கிறவைகளை ஒழுங்குபடுத்தும்படிக்கும், நான் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே, பட்டணங்கள்தோறும் மூப்பரை ஏற்படுத்தும்படிக்கும், உன்னைக் கிரேத்தாதீவிலே விட்டுவந்தேன்.

For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

குற்றஞ்சாட்டப்படாதவனும், ஒரே மனைவியையுடைய புருஷனும், துன்மார்க்கரென்றும் அடங்காதவர்களென்றும் பேரெடுக்காத விசுவாசமுள்ள பிள்ளைகளை உடையவனுமாகிய ஒருவனிருந்தால் அவனையே ஏற்படுத்தலாம்.

If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

ஏனெனில், கண்காணியானவன் தேவனுடைய உக்கிராணக்காரனுக்கேற்றவிதமாய், குற்றஞ்சாட்டப்படாதவனும், தன் இஷ்டப்படி செய்யாதவனும், முற்கோபமில்லாதவனும், மதுபானப்பிரியமில்லாதவனும், அடியாதவனும், இழிவான ஆதாயத்தை இச்சியாதவனும்,

For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

அந்நியரை உபசரிக்கிறவனும், நல்லோர்மேல் பிரியமுள்ளவனும், தெளிந்த புத்தியுள்ளவனும், நீதிமானும், பரிசுத்தவானும், இச்சையடக்கமுள்ளவனும்,

But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;

ஆரோக்கியமான உபதேசத்தினாலே புத்திசொல்லவும், எதிர்பேசுகிறவர்களைக் கண்டனம்பண்ணவும் வல்லவனுமாயிருக்கும்படி, தான் போதிக்கப்பட்டதற்கேற்ற உண்மையான வசனத்தை நன்றாய்ப் பற்றிக்கொள்ளுகிறவனுமாயிருக்கவேண்டும்.

Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

அநேகர், விசேஷமாய் விருத்தசேதனமுள்ளவர்கள், அடங்காதவர்களும், வீண்பேச்சுக்காரரும், மனதை மயக்குகிறவர்களுமாயிருக்கிறார்கள்.

For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:

அவர்களுடைய வாயை அடக்கவேண்டும்; அவர்கள் இழிவான ஆதாயத்துக்காகத் தகாதவைகளை உபதேசித்து, முழுக்குடும்பங்களையும் கவிழ்த்துப்போடுகிறார்கள்.

Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.

கிரேத்தாதீவார் ஓயாப்பொய்யர், துஷ்டமிருகங்கள், பெருவயிற்றுச் சோம்பேறிகள் என்று அவர்களிலொருவனாகிய அவர்கள் தீர்க்கதரிசியானவனே சொல்லியிருக்கிறான்.

One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

இந்தச் சாட்சி உண்மையாயிருக்கிறது; இது முகாந்தரமாக, அவர்கள் யூதருடைய கட்டுக்கதைகளுக்கும், சத்தியத்தை விட்டு விலகுகிற மனுஷருடைய கற்பனைகளுக்கும் செவிகொடாமல்,

This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

விசுவாசத்திலே ஆரோக்கியமுள்ளவர்களாயிருக்கும்படி, நீ அவர்களைக் கண்டிப்பாய்க் கடிந்துகொள்.

Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

சுத்தமுள்ளவர்களுக்குச் சகலமும் சுத்தமாயிருக்கும்; அசுத்தமுள்ளவர்களுக்கும் அவிசுவாசமுள்ளவர்களுக்கும் ஒன்றும் சுத்தமாயிராது; அவர்களுடைய புத்தியும் மனச்சாட்சியும் அசுத்தமாயிருக்கும்.

Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

அவர்கள் தேவனை அறிந்திருக்கிறோமென்று அறிக்கைபண்ணுகிறார்கள், கிரியைகளினாலோ அவரை மறுதலிக்கிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் அருவருக்கப்படத்தக்கவர்களும், கீழ்ப்படியாதவர்களும், எந்த நற்கிரியையுஞ்செய்ய ஆகாதவர்களுமாயிருக்கிறார்கள்.

They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

தீத்து அத்தியாயம் 2

நீயோ ஆரோக்கியமான உபதேசத்துக்கேற்றவைகளைப் பேசு.

But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:

முதிர்வயதுள்ள புருஷர்கள் ஜாக்கிரதையுள்ளவர்களும், நல்லொழுக்கமுள்ளவர்களும், தெளிந்த புத்தியுள்ளவர்களும், விசுவாசத்திலும் அன்பிலும் பொறுமையிலும் ஆரோக்கியமுள்ளவர்களுமாயிருக்கும்படி புத்திசொல்லு.

That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.

முதிர்வயதுள்ள ஸ்திரீகளும் அப்படியே பரிசுத்தத்துக்கேற்றவிதமாய் நடக்கிறவர்களும், அவதூறு பண்ணாதவர்களும், மதுபானத்துக்கு அடிமைப்படாதவர்களுமாயிருக்கவும்,

The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

தேவவசனம் தூஷிக்கப்படாதபடிக்கு பாலிய ஸ்திரீகள் தங்கள் புருஷரிடத்திலும், தங்கள் பிள்ளைகளிடத்திலும் அன்புள்ளவர்களும்,

That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

தெளிந்த புத்தியுள்ளவர்களும், கற்புள்ளவர்களும், வீட்டில் தரித்திருக்கிறவர்களும், நல்லவர்களும், தங்கள் புருஷருக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிகிறவர்களுமாயிருக்கும்படி, அவர்களுக்குப் படிப்பிக்கத்தக்க நற்காரியங்களைப் போதிக்கிறவர்களுமாயிருக்கவும் முதிர்வயதுள்ள ஸ்திரீகளுக்குப் புத்திசொல்லு.

To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

அப்படியே, பாலிய புருஷரும் தெளிந்த புத்தியுள்ளவர்களாயிருக்கவும் நீ புத்திசொல்லி,

Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.

நீயே எல்லாவற்றிலும் உன்னை நற்கிரியைகளுக்கு மாதிரியாகக் காண்பித்து,

In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,

எதிரியானவன் உங்களைக்குறித்துப் பொல்லாங்கு சொல்லுகிறதற்கு ஒன்றுமில்லாமல் வெட்கப்படத்தக்கதாக, உபதேசத்திலே விகற்பமில்லாதவனும், நல்லொழுக்கமுள்ளவனும் குற்றம்பிடிக்கப்படாத ஆரோக்கியமான வசனத்தைப் பேசுகிறவனுமாயிருப்பாயாக.

Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

வேலைக்காரர் நம்முடைய இரட்சகராகிய தேவனுடைய உபதேசத்தை எல்லாவற்றிலும் அலங்கரிக்கத்தக்கதாக,

Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;

தங்கள் எஜமான்களுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்திருந்து எதிர்த்துப்பேசாமல், எல்லாவற்றிலும் பிரியமுண்டாக நடந்துகொள்ளவும், திருடாமலிருந்து, சகலவிதத்திலும் நல்லுண்மையைக் காண்பிக்கவும் புத்திசொல்லு.

Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

ஏனெனில் எல்லா மனுஷருக்கும் இரட்சிப்பை அளிக்கத்தக்க தேவகிருபையானது பிரசன்னமாகி,

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

நாம் அவபக்தியையும் லெளகிக இச்சைகளையும் வெறுத்து, தெளிந்த புத்தியும் நீதியும் தேவபக்தியும் உள்ளவர்களாய் இவ்வுலகத்திலே ஜீவனம்பண்ணி,

Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

நாம் நம்பியிருக்கிற ஆனந்தபாக்கியத்துக்கும், மகா தேவனும் நமது இரட்சகருமாகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவினுடைய மகிமையின் பிரசன்னமாகுதலுக்கும் எதிர்பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருக்கும்படி நமக்குப் போதிக்கிறது.

Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

அவர் நம்மைச் சகல அக்கிரமங்களினின்று மீட்டுக்கொண்டு, தமக்குரிய சொந்த ஜனங்களாகவும், நற்கிரியைகளைச்செய்ய பக்திவைராக்கியமுள்ளவர்களாகவும் நம்மைச் சுத்திகரிக்கும்படி, நமக்காகத் தம்மைத்தாமே ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்.

Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

இவைகளை நீ பேசி, போதித்து, சகல அதிகாரத்தோடும் கடிந்துகொள். ஒருவனும் உன்னை அசட்டைபண்ண இடங்கொடாதிருப்பாயாக.

These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

தீத்து அத்தியாயம் 3

துரைத்தனங்களுக்கும் அதிகாரங்களுக்கும் கீழ்ப்படிந்து அடங்கியிருக்கவும், சகலவிதமான நற்கிரியைகளையும் செய்ய ஆயத்தமாயிருக்கவும்,

Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,

ஒருவனையும் தூஷியாமலும், சண்டைபண்ணாமலும், பொருமையுள்ளவர்களாய் எல்லா மனுஷருக்கும் சாந்தகுணத்தைக் காண்பிக்கவும் அவர்களுக்கு நினைப்பூட்டு.

To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.

ஏனெனில், முற்காலத்திலே நாமும் புத்தியீனரும், கீழ்ப்படியாதவர்களும், வழிதப்பி நடக்கிறவர்களும், பலவித இச்சைகளுக்கும் இன்பங்களுக்கும் அடிமைப்பட்டவர்களும், துர்க்குணத்தோடும் பொறாமையோடும் ஜீவனம்பண்ணுகிறவர்களும், பகைக்கப்படத்தக்கவர்களும், ஒருவரையொருவர் பகைக்கிறவர்களுமாயிருந்தோம்.

For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

நம்முடைய இரட்சகராகிய தேவனுடைய தயையும் மனுஷர்மேலுள்ள அன்பும் பிரசன்னமானபோது,

But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

நாம் செய்த நீதியின் கிரியைகளினிமித்தம் அவர் நம்மை இரட்சியாமல், தமது இரக்கத்தின்படியே, மறுஜென்மமுழுக்கினாலும், பரிசுத்த ஆவியினுடைய புதிதாக்குதலினாலும் நம்மை இரட்சித்தார்.

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

தமது கிருபையினாலே நாம் நீதிமான்களாக்கப்பட்டு, நித்திய ஜீவனுண்டாகும் என்கிற நம்பிக்கையின்படி சுதந்தரராகத்தக்கதாக,

Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

அவர் நமது இரட்சகராகிய இயேசு கிறிஸ்து மூலமாய், அந்தப் பரிசுத்த ஆவியை நம்மேல் சம்பூரணமாய்ப் பொழிந்தருளினார்.

That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

இந்த வார்த்தை உண்மையுள்ளது; தேவனிடத்தில் விசுவாசமானவர்கள் நற்கிரியைகளைச் செய்ய ஜாக்கிரதையாயிருக்கும்படி நீ இவைகளைக்குறித்துத் திட்டமாய்ப் போதிக்கவேண்டுமென்று விரும்புகிறேன்; இவைகளே நன்மையும் மனுஷருக்குப் பிரயோஜனமுமானவைகள்.

This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

புத்தியீனமான தர்க்கங்களையும், வம்சவரலாறுகளையும், சண்டைகளையும், நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தைக்குறித்து உண்டாகிற வாக்குவாதங்களையும் விட்டு விலகு; அவைகள் அப்பிரயோஜனமும் வீணுமாயிருக்கும்.

But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

வேதப்புரட்டனாயிருக்கிற ஒருவனுக்கு நீ இரண்டொருதரம் புத்திசொன்னபின்பு அவனை விட்டு விலகு.

A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;

அப்படிப்பட்டவன் நிலைதவறி, தன்னிலேதானே ஆக்கினைத்தீர்ப்புடையவனாய்ப் பாவஞ்செய்கிறவனென்று அறிந்திருக்கிறாயே.

Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

நான் அர்த்தெமாவையாவது தீகிக்குவையாவது உன்னிடத்தில் அனுப்பும்போது நீ நிக்கொப்போலிக்கு என்னிடத்தில் வர ஜாக்கிரதைப்படு; மாரிகாலத்திலே அங்கே தங்கும்படி தீர்மானித்திருக்கிறேன்.

When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter.

நியாயசாஸ்திரியாகிய சேனாவுக்கும் அப்பொல்லோவுக்கும் ஒரு குறைவுமில்லாதபடிக்கு அவர்களை ஜாக்கிரதையாய் விசாரித்து வழிவிட்டனுப்பு.

Bring Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing be wanting unto them.

நம்முடையவர்களும் கனியற்றவர்களாயிராதபடி குறைவுகளை நீக்குகிறதற்கேதுவாக நற்கிரியைகளைச் செய்யப்பழகட்டும்.

And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.

என்னோடிருக்கிற யாவரும் உனக்கு வாழ்த்துதல் சொல்லுகிறார்கள். விசுவாசத்திலே நம்மைச் சிநேகிக்கிறவர்களுக்கு வாழ்த்துதல் சொல்லு. கிருபையானது உங்களனைவரோடுங்கூட இருப்பதாக. ஆமென்.
