2இராஜாக்கள் அத்தியாயம் 7

அப்பொழுது எலிசா: கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையைக் கேளுங்கள்: நாளை இந்நேரத்தில் சமாரியாவின் வாசலிலே ஒருமரக்கால் கோதுமைமா ஒருசேக்கலுக்கும், இரண்டுமரக்கால் வாற்கோதுமை ஒருசேக்கலுக்கும் விற்கப்படும் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.

Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.

அப்பொழுது ராஜாவுக்குக் கைலாகு கொடுக்கிற பிரதானி ஒருவன் தேவனுடைய மனுஷனுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: இதோ, கர்த்தர் வானத்திலே மதகுகளை உண்டாக்கினாலும் இப்படி நடக்குமா என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: உன்னுடைய கண்களினாலே அதைக் காண்பாய்; ஆனாலும் அதிலே சாப்பிடமாட்டாய் என்றான்.

Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

குஷ்டரோகிகளான நாலுபேர் ஒலிமுகவாசலில் இருந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் ஒருவரை ஒருவர் நோக்கி: நாம் இங்கே இருந்து சாகவேண்டியது என்ன?

And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?

பட்டணத்திற்குள் போவோமென்றாலும் பட்டணத்தில் பஞ்சம் உண்டாயிருக்கிறதினால் அங்கே சாவோம்; நாம் இங்கே இருந்தாலும் சாவோம்; ஆகையால் இப்பொழுது சீரியருடைய இராணுவத்திற்குப் போவோம் வாருங்கள்; அவர்கள் நம்மை உயிரோடே வைத்தால் பிழைக்கிறோம்; நம்மைக் கொன்றால் சாகிறோம் என்று சொல்லி,

If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.

சீரியருடைய இராணுவத்திற்குப் போக இருட்டோடே எழுந்திருந்து, சீரியருடைய பாளயத்தின் முன்னணியில் வந்தார்கள்; அங்கே ஒருவருமில்லை.

And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there.

ஆண்டவர் சீரியரின் இராணுவத்திற்கு இரதங்களின் இரைச்சலையும், குதிரைகளின் இரைச்சலையும், மகா இராணுவத்தின் இரைச்சலையும் கேட்கப்பண்ணினதினால், அவர்கள் ஒருவரை ஒருவர் நோக்கி: இதோ, நம்மிடத்தில் போருக்குவர, இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா ஏத்தியரின் ராஜாக்களையும் எகிப்தியரின் ராஜாக்களையும் நமக்கு விரோதமாகக் கூலி பொருத்தினான் என்று சொல்லி,

For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.

இருட்டோடே எழுந்திருந்து ஓடிப்போய், தங்கள் கூடாரங்களையும் தங்கள் குதிரைகளையும் தங்கள் கழுதைகளையும் தங்கள் பாளயத்தையும் அவைகள் இருந்த பிரகாரமாக விட்டு, தங்கள் பிராணன் மாத்திரம் தப்பும்படி ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.

Wherefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life.

அந்தக் குஷ்டரோகிகள் பாளயத்தின் முன்னணிமட்டும் வந்தபோது, ஒரு கூடாரத்திற்குள் பிரவேசித்து புசித்துக் குடித்து, அதிலிருந்த வெள்ளியையும், பொன்னையும், வஸ்திரங்களையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு போய் ஒளித்துவைத்து, திரும்பிவந்து, வேறொரு கூடாரத்திற்குள் பிரவேசித்து, அதிலிருந்தும் அப்படியே எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோய் ஒளித்துவைத்து,

And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it.

பின்பு அவர்கள் ஒருவரை ஒருவர் நோக்கி: நாம் செய்கிறது நியாயமல்ல, இந்நாள் நற்செய்தி அறிவிக்கும் நாள்; நாம் மவுனமாயிருந்து, பொழுது விடியுமட்டும் காத்திருந்தால் குற்றம் நம்மேல் சுமரும்; இப்போதும் நாம் போய் ராஜாவின் அரமனையாருக்கு இதை அறிவிப்போம் வாருங்கள் என்றார்கள்.

Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king's household.

அப்படியே அவர்கள் வந்து, பட்டணத்து வாசல் காவலாளனை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிட்டு: நாங்கள் சீரியரின் பாளயத்திற்குப் போய்வந்தோம்; அங்கே ஒருவரும் இல்லை, ஒரு மனுஷனுடைய சத்தமும் இல்லை, கட்டியிருக்கிற குதிரைகளும் கட்டியிருக்கிற கழுதைகளும், கூடாரங்களும் இருந்த பிரகாரம் இருக்கிறது என்று அவர்களுக்குச் சொன்னார்கள்.

So they came and called unto the porter of the city: and they told them, saying, We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but horses tied, and asses tied, and the tents as they were.

அப்பொழுது அவன் வாசல்காக்கிற மற்றவர்களைக் கூப்பிட்டான்; அவர்கள் உள்ளே போய் ராஜாவின் அரமனையாருக்கு அதை அறிவித்தார்கள்.

And he called the porters; and they told it to the king's house within.

அப்பொழுது இராஜா இராத்திரியில் எழுந்து, தன் ஊழியக்காரரை நோக்கி: சீரியர் நமக்குச் செய்கிற காரியத்தை உங்களுக்குத் தெரியப்படுத்துகிறேன்; நாம் பட்டினியாயிருக்கிறோம் என்று அவர்கள் அறிவார்கள்; ஆகையால் நாம் பட்டணத்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்டுப்போனால் நம்மை உயிரோடே பிடித்துக்கொண்டு பட்டணத்திற்குள் பிரவேசிக்கலாம் என்று எண்ணி, அவர்கள் பாளயத்தை விட்டுப் புறப்பட்டு வெளியில் ஒளித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள் என்றான்.

And the king arose in the night, and said unto his servants, I will now shew you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we be hungry; therefore are they gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, When they come out of the city, we shall catch them alive, and get into the city.

அவன் ஊழியக்காரரில் ஒருவன் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: இங்கே மீதியான குதிரைகளில் ஐந்து குதிரைகளைக் கொண்டுபோக உத்தரவு கொடும்; இதோ, இங்கே மீதியான இஸ்ரவேலின் சகல ஏராளத்திலும், மாண்டுபோன இஸ்ரவேலின் சகல கூட்டத்திலும், அவைகள் மாத்திரம் மீந்திருக்கிறது; அவைகளை நாம் அனுப்பிப்பார்ப்போம் என்றான்.

And one of his servants answered and said, Let some take, I pray thee, five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city, (behold, they are as all the multitude of Israel that are left in it: behold, I say, they are even as all the multitude of the Israelites that are consumed:) and let us send and see.

அப்படியே இரண்டு இரதக்குதிரைகளைக் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்; ராஜா போய் வாருங்கள் என்று சொல்லி, சீரியரின் இராணுவத்தைத் தொடர்ந்து போகும்படி அனுப்பினான்.

They took therefore two chariot horses; and the king sent after the host of the Syrians, saying, Go and see.

அவர்கள் யோர்தான்மட்டும் அவர்களைப் பின்தொடர்ந்துபோனார்கள்; சீரியர் தீவிரித்து ஓடுகையில், அவர்கள் எறிந்துபோட்ட வஸ்திரங்களாலும் தட்டுமுட்டுகளாலும் வழியெல்லம் நிறைந்திருந்தது; அனுப்பப்பட்டவர்கள் திரும்பிவந்து ராஜாவுக்கு அதை அறிவித்தார்கள்.

And they went after them unto Jordan: and, lo, all the way was full of garments and vessels, which the Syrians had cast away in their haste. And the messengers returned, and told the king.

அப்பொழுது ஜனங்கள் புறப்பட்டு, சீரியரின் பாளயத்தைக் கொள்ளையிட்டார்கள்; கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையின்படியே, ஒருமரக்கால் கோதுமைமா ஒருசேக்கலுக்கும், இரண்டு மரக்கால் வாற்கோதுமை ஒரு சேக்கலுக்கும் விற்கப்பட்டது.

And the people went out, and spoiled the tents of the Syrians. So a measure of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of the LORD.

ராஜா தனக்குக் கைலாகுகொடுக்கிற அந்தப் பிரதானியை ஒலிமுகவாசலில் விசாரிப்பாயிருக்கக் கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தான்; ஒலிமுகவாசலிலே ஜனங்கள் அவனை நெருங்கி மிதித்ததினாலே, ராஜா தேவனுடைய மனுஷனிடத்தில் வந்தபோது சொல்லியிருந்தபடியே. அவன் செத்துப்போனான்.

And the king appointed the lord on whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate: and the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had said, who spake when the king came down to him.

இரண்டு மரக்கால் வாற்கோதுமை ஒருசேக்கலுக்கும், ஒருமரக்கால் கோதுமைமா ஒருசேக்கலுக்கும், நாளை இந்நேரத்திலே சமாரியாவின் ஒலிமுகவாசலில் விற்கும் என்று தேவனுடைய மனுஷன் ராஜாவோடே சொன்னதின்படியே நடந்தது.

And it came to pass as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, shall be to morrow about this time in the gate of Samaria:

அதற்கு அந்தப் பிரதானி தேவனுடைய மனுஷனுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: இதோ, கர்த்தர் வானத்திலே மதகுகளை உண்டாக்கினாலும், இந்த வார்த்தையின்படி நடக்குமா என்று சொல்ல; இவன், இதோ, உன்னுடைய கண்களினாலே அதைக் காண்பாய், ஆனாலும் அதிலே சாப்பிடமாட்டாய் என்றானே.

And that lord answered the man of God, and said, Now, behold, if the LORD should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

அந்தப் பிரகாரமாகத்தானே அவனுக்கு நடந்தது; ஒலிமுகவாசலிலே ஜனங்கள் அவனை நெருங்கி மிதித்ததினாலே அவன் செத்துப்போனான்.

And so it fell out unto him: for the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died.

எலிசா தான் உயிர்ப்பித்த பிள்ளையின் தாயாகிய ஸ்திரீயை நோக்கி: நீ உன் வீட்டாரோடுங்கூட எழுந்து புறப்பட்டுப்போய் எங்கேயாகிலும் சஞ்சரி; கர்த்தர் பஞ்சத்தை வருவிப்பார்; அது ஏழு வருஷம் தேசத்தில் இருக்கும் என்று சொல்லியிருந்தான்.

Then spake Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for the LORD hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.

அந்த ஸ்திரீ எழுந்து, தேவனுடைய மனுஷன் சொன்ன வார்த்தையின்படி செய்து, தன் வீட்டாரோடுங்கூடப் புறப்பட்டு, பெலிஸ்தரின் தேசத்தில்போய், ஏழுவருஷம் சஞ்சரித்தாள்.

And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God: and she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.

ஏழுவருஷம் சென்றபின்பு, அவள் பெலிஸ்தரின் தேசத்தை விட்டுத் திரும்பவந்து, தன் வீட்டுக்காகவும் தன் வயலுக்காகவும் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் முறையிடும்படி போனாள்.

And it came to pass at the seven years' end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land.

அந்நேரத்தில் ராஜா, தேவனுடைய மனுஷனின் வேலைக்காரனாயிருந்த கேயாசியுடனே பேசி: எலிசா செய்த அதிசயங்களையெல்லாம் நீ எனக்கு விவரமாய்ச் சொல் என்றான்.

And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.

செத்துப்போனவனை உயிர்ப்பித்தார் என்பதை அவன் ராஜாவுக்கு அறிவிக்கிறபோது, இதோ, அவன் உயிர்ப்பித்த பிள்ளையின் தாயாகிய அந்த ஸ்திரீ வந்து, தன் வீட்டுக்காகவும் தன் வயலுக்காகவும் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் முறையிட்டாள்; அப்பொழுது கேயாசி: ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனே, இவள்தான் அந்த ஸ்திரீ; எலிசா உயிர்ப்பித்த இவளுடைய குமாரன் இவன்தான் என்றான்.

And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.

ராஜா அந்த ஸ்திரீயைக் கேட்டதற்கு, அவள்: அதை அவனுக்கு விவரித்துச் சொன்னாள்; அப்பொழுது ராஜா அவளுக்கு ஒரு பிரதானியை நியமித்து, அவளுக்கு உண்டானது எல்லாவற்றையும், அவள் தேசத்தை விட்டுப்போன நாள்முதல் இதுவரைக்கும் உண்டான அந்த வயலின் வருமானம் அனைத்தையும் அவளுக்குக் கிடைக்கும்படி செய் என்றான்.

And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.

சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய பெனாதாத் வியாதியாயிருந்தான்; எலிசா தமஸ்குவுக்கு வந்தான்; தேவனுடைய மனுஷன் இவ்விடத்தில் வந்திருக்கிறான் என்று அவனுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது.

And Elisha came to Damascus; and Benhadad the king of Syria was sick; and it was told him, saying, The man of God is come hither.

ராஜா ஆசகேலை நோக்கி: நீ உன் கையிலே ஒரு காணிக்கையை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, தேவனுடைய மனுஷனுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோய், நான் இந்த வியாதி நீங்கிப் பிழைப்பேனா என்று அவனைக் கொண்டு கர்த்தரிடத்தில் விசாரிக்கச் சொன்னான்.

And the king said unto Hazael, Take a present in thine hand, and go, meet the man of God, and enquire of the LORD by him, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?

ஆசகேல் தமஸ்குவின் சகல உச்சிதங்களிலும் நாற்பது ஒட்டகங்களின் சுமையான காணிக்கையை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, அவனுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோய், அவனுக்கு முன்பாக நின்று, சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய பெனாதாத் என்னும் உம்முடைய குமாரன் என்னை உம்மிடத்தில் அனுப்பி, இந்த வியாதி நீங்கிப் பிழைப்பேனா என்று கேட்கச்சொன்னார் என்றான்.

So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels' burden, and came and stood before him, and said, Thy son Benhadad king of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?

எலிசா அவனை நோக்கி: நீ போய், வியாதி நீங்கிப் பிழைப்பீர் என்று அவனுக்குச் சொல்லு; ஆனாலும் அவன் சாகவே சாவான் என்பதைக் கர்த்தர் எனக்குக் காண்பித்தார் என்றான்.

And Elisha said unto him, Go, say unto him, Thou mayest certainly recover: howbeit the LORD hath shewed me that he shall surely die.

பின்பு தேவனுடைய மனுஷன்: தன் முகத்தைத் திருப்பாமல் அவன் சலித்துப்போகுமட்டும் அவனை நோக்கிக்கொண்டே அழுதான்.

And he settled his countenance stedfastly, until he was ashamed: and the man of God wept.

அப்பொழுது ஆசகேல்: என் ஆண்டவன் அழுகிறது என்ன என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவன்: நீ இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்குச் செய்யும் தீங்கை நான் அறிந்திருக்கிறபடியினால் அழுகிறேன்; நீ அவர்கள் கோட்டைகளை அக்கினிக்கு இரையாக்கி, அவர்கள் வாலிபரைப் பட்டயத்தால் கொன்று, அவர்கள் குழந்தைகளைத் தரையோடே மோதி, அவர்கள் கர்ப்பவதிகளைக் கீறிப்போடுவாய் என்றான்.

And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child.

அப்பொழுது ஆசகேல், இத்தனை பெரிய காரியத்தைச் செய்ய நாயாகிய உமது அடியான் எம்மாத்திரம் என்றான். அதற்கு எலிசா: நீ சீரியாவின்மேல் ராஜாவாவாய் என்பதைக் கர்த்தர் எனக்குத் தெரிவித்தார் என்றான்.

And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, The LORD hath shewed me that thou shalt be king over Syria.

இவன் எலிசாவைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டு, தன் ஆண்டவனிடத்தில் வந்தபோது, அவன்: எலிசா உனக்கு என்ன சொன்னான் என்று கேட்டதற்கு; இவன், நீர் வியாதி நீங்கிப் பிழைப்பீர் என்று எனக்குச் சொன்னான் என்று சொல்லி,

So he departed from Elisha, and came to his master; who said to him, What said Elisha to thee? And he answered, He told me that thou shouldest surely recover.

மறுநாளிலே ஒரு சமுக்காளத்தை எடுத்து, தண்ணீரிலே தோய்த்து அவன் முகத்தின்மேல் விரித்தான்; அதினால் அவன் செத்துப்போனான்; ஆசகேல் அவனுக்குப் பதிலாய் ராஜாவானான்.

And it came to pass on the morrow, that he took a thick cloth, and dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died: and Hazael reigned in his stead.

இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாபின் குமாரன் யோராமுடைய ஐந்தாம் வருஷத்தில், யோசபாத் யூதாவிலே இன்னும் ராஜாவாயிருக்கையில், யோசபாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய யோராம் என்னும் யூதாவின் ராஜா ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணத் துவக்கினான்.

And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.

அவன் ராஜாவாகிறபோது முப்பத்திரண்டு வயதாயிருந்து, எட்டு வருஷம் எருசலேமில் ராஜ்யபாரம் பண்ணினான்.

Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

அவன் இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் வழியிலே நடந்து, ஆகாபின் வீட்டார் செய்ததுபோலச் செய்தான்; ஆகாபின் குமாரத்தி அவனுக்கு மனைவியாயிருந்தாள்; அவன் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தான்.

And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife: and he did evil in the sight of the LORD.

கர்த்தர்: உன் குமாரருக்குள்ளே எந்நாளும் ஒரு விளக்கை உனக்குக் கட்டளையிடுவேன் என்று தம்முடைய தாசனாகிய தாவீதுக்குச் சொன்னதின்படியே, அவனிமித்தம் அவர் யூதாவை முற்றிலும் கெடுக்கவில்லை.

Yet the LORD would not destroy Judah for David his servant's sake, as he promised him to give him alway a light, and to his children.

அவன் நாட்களில் யூதாவுடைய கையின்கீழிருந்த ஏதோமியர் கலகம்பண்ணி, தங்களுக்கு ஒரு ராஜாவை ஏற்படுத்திக்கொண்டார்கள்.

In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.

அதினாலே யோராம் சகல இரதங்களோடுங்கூடச் சாயீருக்குப் புறப்பட்டுப் போனான்; அவன் இராத்திரியில் எழுந்திருந்து, தன்னை வளைந்துகொண்ட ஏதோமியரையும் இரதங்களின் தலைவரையும் முறிய அடித்தபோது, ஜனங்கள் தங்கள் கூடாரங்களுக்கு ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.

So Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with him: and he rose by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots: and the people fled into their tents.

அப்படியே யூதாவுடைய கையின் கீழிருந்த ஏதோமியர், இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் இருக்கிறதுபோல, கலகம் பண்ணினார்கள்; அக்காலத்தில்தானே லிப்னா பட்டணத்தாரும் கலகம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

Yet Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.

யோராமின் மற்ற வர்த்தமானங்களும், அவன் செய்தவை யாவும், யூதாவுடைய ராஜாக்களின் நாளாகமப் புஸ்தகத்தில் அல்லவோ எழுதியிருக்கிறது.

And the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

யோராம் தன் பிதாக்களோடே நித்திரையடைந்து, தன் பிதாக்களிடத்திலே தாவீதின் நகரத்தில் அடக்கம்பண்ணப்பட்டான்; அவனுக்குப் பதிலாக அவன் குமாரனாகிய அகசியா ராஜாவானான்.

And Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.

இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாபின் குமாரன் யோராமுடைய பன்னிரண்டாம் வருஷத்திலே, யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோராமின் குமாரன் அகசியா ராஜாவானான்.

In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel did Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah begin to reign.

அகசியா ராஜாவாகிறபோது, இருபத்திரண்டு வயதாயிருந்து, ஒரே வருஷம் எருசலேமில் ராஜ்யபாரம் பண்ணினான்; இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய ஒம்ரியின் குமாரத்தியான அவன் தாயின் பேர் அத்தாலியாள்.

Two and twenty years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri king of Israel.

அவன் ஆகாபுடைய வீட்டாரின் வழியே நடந்து, ஆகாபின் வீட்டாரைப்போல் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தான்; அவன் ஆகாப் வீட்டாரோடே சம்பந்தங்கலந்திருந்தான்.

And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did evil in the sight of the LORD, as did the house of Ahab: for he was the son in law of the house of Ahab.

அவன் ஆகாபின் குமாரனாகிய யோராமோடேகூடக் கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்திற்குச் சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆசகேலோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணப்போனான்; சீரியர் யோராமைக் காயப்படுத்தினார்கள்.

And he went with Joram the son of Ahab to the war against Hazael king of Syria in Ramothgilead; and the Syrians wounded Joram.

ராஜாவாகிய யோராம் தான் சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆசகேலோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணுகையில், சீரியர் ராமாவிலே தன்னை வெட்டின காயங்களை ஆற்றிக்கொள்ள யெஸ்ரயேலுக்குப் போயிருந்தான்; ஆகாபின் குமாரனாகிய யோராம் வியாதியாயிருந்தபடியினால், யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோராமின் குமாரன் அகசியா யெஸ்ரயேலில் இருக்கிற அவனைப் பார்க்கிறதற்குப் போனான்.

And king Joram went back to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.

1தீமோத்தேயு அத்தியாயம் 4

ஆகிலும், ஆவியானவர் வெளிப்படையாய்ச் சொல்லுகிறபடி, பிற்காலங்களிலே மனச்சாட்சியில் சூடுண்ட பொய்யருடைய மாயத்தினாலே சிலர் வஞ்சிக்கிற ஆவிகளுக்கும் பிசாசுகளின் உபதேசங்களுக்கும் செவிகொடுத்து, விசுவாசத்தை விட்டு விலகிப்போவார்கள்.

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

விவாகம்பண்ணாதிருக்கவும்,

Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

விசுவாசிகளும் சத்தியத்தை அறிந்தவர்களும் ஸ்தோத்திரத்தோடே அநுபவிக்கும்படி தேவன் படைத்த போஜனபதார்த்தங்களை விலக்கவும் வேண்டுமென்று அந்தப் பொய்யர் கட்டளையிடுவார்கள்.

Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

தேவன் படைத்ததெல்லாம் நல்லதாயிருக்கிறது; ஸ்தோத்திரத்தோடே ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளப்படுமாகில் ஒன்றும் தள்ளப்படத்தக்கதல்ல.

For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

அது தேவவசனத்தினாலும் ஜெபத்தினாலும் பரிசுத்தமாக்கப்படும்.

For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

இவைகளை நீ சகோதரருக்குப் போதித்துவந்தால், விசுவாசத்திற்குரிய வார்த்தைகளிலும் நீ அநுசரித்த நற்போதகத்திலும் தேறினவனாகி, இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவுக்கு நல்ல ஊழியக்காரனாயிருப்பாய்.

If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.

சீர்கேடும் கிழவிகள் பேச்சுமாயிருக்கிற கட்டுக்கதைகளுக்கு விலகி, தேவபக்திக்கேதுவாக முயற்சிபண்ணு.

But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

சரீரமுயற்சி அற்பபிரயோஜனமுள்ளது; தேவபக்தியானது இந்த ஜீவனுக்கும் இதற்குப் பின்வரும் ஜீவனுக்கும் வாக்குத்தத்தமுள்ளதாகையால் எல்லாவற்றிலும் பிரயோஜனமுள்ளது.

For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

இந்த வார்த்தை உண்மையும் எல்லா அங்கிகரிப்புக்கும் பாத்திரமுமாயிருக்கிறது.

This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.

இதினிமித்தம் பிரயாசப்படுகிறோம், நிந்தையும் அடைகிறோம்; ஏனெனில் எல்லா மனுஷருக்கும், விசேஷமாக விசுவாசிகளுக்கும் இரட்சகராகிய ஜீவனுள்ள தேவன்மேல் நம்பிக்கை வைத்திருக்கிறோம்.

For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

இவைகளை நீ கட்டளையிட்டுப் போதித்துக்கொண்டிரு.

These things command and teach.

உன் இளமையைக்குறித்து ஒருவனும் உன்னை அசட்டைபண்ணாதபடிக்கு, நீ வார்த்தையிலும், நடக்கையிலும், அன்பிலும், ஆவியிலும், விசுவாசத்திலும், கற்பிலும், விசுவாசிகளுக்கு மாதிரியாயிரு.

Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

நான் வருமளவும் வாசிக்கிறதிலும் புத்திசொல்லுகிறதிலும் உபதேசிக்கிறதிலும் ஜாக்கிரதையாயிரு.

Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

மூப்பராகிய சங்கத்தார் உன்மேல் கைகளை வைத்தபோது தீர்க்கதரிசனத்தினால் உனக்கு அளிக்கப்பட்ட வரத்தைப்பற்றி அசதியாயிராதே.

Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

நீ தேறுகிறது யாவருக்கும் விளங்கும்படி இவைகளையே சிந்தித்துக்கொண்டு, இவைகளிலே நிலைத்திரு.

Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

உன்னைக்குறித்தும் உபதேசத்தைக்குறித்தும் எச்சரிக்கையாயிரு, இவைகளில் நிலைகொண்டிரு, இப்படிச் செய்வாயானால், உன்னையும் உன் உபதேசத்தைக் கேட்பவர்களையும் இரட்சித்துக்கொள்ளுவாய்.

Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

1தீமோத்தேயு அத்தியாயம் 5

முதிர்வயதுள்ளவனைக் கடிந்துகொள்ளாமல், அவனைத் தகப்பனைப்போலவும், பாலிய புருஷரைச் சகோதரரைப்போலவும்,

Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;

முதிர்வயதுள்ள ஸ்திரீகளைத் தாய்களைப்போலவும், பாலிய ஸ்திரீகளை எல்லாக் கற்புடன் சகோதரிகளைப்போலவும் பாவித்து, புத்திசொல்லு.

The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.

உத்தம விதவைகளாகிய விதவைகளைக் கனம்பண்ணு.

Honour widows that are widows indeed.

விதவையானவளுக்குப் பிள்ளைகளாவது, பேரன் பேத்திகளாவது இருந்தால், இவர்கள் முதலாவது தங்கள் சொந்தக் குடும்பத்தைத் தேவபக்தியாய் விசாரித்து, பெற்றார் செய்த நன்மைகளுக்குப் பதில் நன்மைகளைச் செய்யக் கற்றுக்கொள்ளக்கடவர்கள்; அது நன்மையும் தேவனுக்கு முன்பாகப் பிரியமுமாயிருக்கிறது.

But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.

உத்தம விதவையாயிருந்து தனிமையாயிருக்கிறவள் தேவனிடத்தில் நம்பிக்கையுள்ளவளாய், இரவும் பகலும் வேண்டுதல்களிலும் ஜெபங்களிலும் நிலைத்திருப்பாள்.

Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.

சுகபோகமாய் வாழ்கிறவள் உயிரோடே செத்தவள்.

But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.

அவர்கள் குற்றஞ்சாட்டப்படாதவர்களாயிருக்கும்படி இவைகளைக் கட்டளையிடு.

And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.

ஒருவன் தன் சொந்த ஜனங்களையும், விசேஷமாகத் தன் வீட்டாரையும் விசாரியாமற்போனால், அவன் விசுவாசத்தை மறுதலித்தவனும், அவிசுவாசியிலும் கெட்டவனுமாயிருப்பான்.

But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

அறுபது வயதுக்குக் குறையாதவளும், ஒரே புருஷனுக்கு மனைவியாயிருந்தவளுமாகி,

Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man,

பிள்ளைகளை வளர்த்து, அந்நியரை உபசரித்து, பரிசுத்தவான்களுடைய கால்களைக்கழுவி, உபத்திரவப்படுகிறவர்களுக்கு உதவிசெய்து, சகலவித நற்கிரியைகளையும் ஜாக்கிரதையாய் நடப்பித்து, இவ்விதமாய் நற்கிரியைகளைக்குறித்து நற்சாட்சி பெற்றவளுமாயிருந்தால், அப்படிப்பட்ட விதவையையே விதவைகள் கூட்டத்தில் சேர்த்துக்கொள்ளவேண்டும்.

Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.

இளவயதுள்ள விதவைகளை அதிலே சேர்த்துக்கொள்ளாதே; ஏனெனில், அவர்கள் கிறிஸ்துவுக்கு விரோதமாய்க் காமவிகாரங்கொள்ளும்போது விவாகம்பண்ண மனதாகி,

But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;

முதலில் கொண்டிருந்த விசுவாசத்தை விடுவதினாலே, ஆக்கினைக்குட்படுவார்கள்.

Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.

அதுவுமல்லாமல், அவர்கள் சோம்பலுள்ளவர்களாய், வீடுவீடாய்த் திரியப்பழகுவார்கள்; சோம்பலுள்ளவர்களாய் மாத்திரமல்ல, அலப்புகிறவர்களாயும் வீணலுவற்காரிகளாயும் தகாத காரியங்களைப் பேசுகிறவர்களாயுமிருப்பார்கள்.

And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.

ஆகையால் இளவயதுள்ள விதவைகள் விவாகம்பண்ணவும், பிள்ளைகளைப் பெறவும், வீட்டை நடத்தவும், விரோதியானவன் நிந்திக்கிறதற்கு இடமுண்டாக்காமலிருக்கவும் வேண்டுமென்றிருக்கிறேன்.

I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.

ஏனெனில் இதற்குமுன்னே சிலர் சாத்தானைப் பின்பற்றி விலகிப்போனார்கள்.

For some are already turned aside after Satan.

விசுவாசியாகிய ஒருவனிடத்திலாவது ஒருத்தியிடத்திலாவது விதவைகளிருந்தால், அவர்கள் இவர்களுக்கு உதவி செய்யக்கடவர்கள்; சபையானது உத்தம விதவைகளானவர்களுக்கு உதவிசெய்ய வேண்டியதாகையால் அந்தப் பாரத்தை அதின்மேல் வைக்கக்கூடாது.

If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.

நன்றாய் விசாரணைசெய்கிற மூப்பர்களை, விசேஷமாகத் திருவசனத்திலும் உபதேசத்திலும் பிரயாசப்படுகிறவர்களை, இரட்டிப்பான கனத்திற்குப் பாத்திரராக எண்ணவேண்டும்.

Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.

போரடிக்கிற மாட்டை வாய்க்கட்டாயாக என்றும், வேலையாள் தன் கூலிக்குப் பாத்திரனாயிருக்கிறான் என்றும், வேதவாக்கியம் சொல்லுகிறதே.

For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.

மூப்பனானவனுக்கு விரோதமாக ஒருவன் செய்யும் பிராதை இரண்டு மூன்று சாட்சிகள் இல்லாமல் நீ ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளக்கூடாது.

Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.

மற்றவர்களுக்குப் பயமுண்டாகும்படி. பாவஞ்செய்தவர்களை எல்லாருக்கும் முன்பாகக் கடிந்துகொள்.

Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

நீ பட்சபாதத்தோடே ஒன்றும் செய்யாமலும், விசாரிக்குமுன் நிருணயம்பண்ணாமலும், இவைகளைக் காத்து நடக்கும்படி, தேவனுக்கும், கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவுக்கும், தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்ட தூதருக்கும் முன்பாக, உறுதியாய்க் கட்டளையிடுகிறேன்.

I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.

ஒருவன்மேலும் சீக்கிரமாய்க் கைகளை வையாதே; மற்றவர்கள் செய்யும் பாவங்களுக்கும் உடன்படாதே; உன்னைச் சுத்தவானாகக் காத்துக்கொள்.

Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.

நீ இனிமேல் தண்ணீர் மாத்திரம் குடியாமல், உன் வயிற்றிற்காகவும், உனக்கு அடிக்கடி நேரிடுகிற பலவீனங்களுக்காகவும், கொஞ்சம் திராட்சரசமும் கூட்டிக்கொள்.

Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.

சிலருடைய பாவங்கள் வெளியரங்கமாயிருந்து, நியாயத்தீர்ப்புக்கு முந்திக்கொள்ளும்; சிலருடைய பாவங்கள் அவர்களைப் பின்தொடரும்.

Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.

அப்படியே சிலருடைய நற்கிரியைகளும் வெளியரங்கமாயிருக்கும்; அப்படி இராதவைகளும் மறைந்திருக்கமாட்டாது.

Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.

1தீமோத்தேயு அத்தியாயம் 6

தேவனுடைய நாமமும் உபதேசமும் தூஷிக்கப்படாதபடிக்கு, அடிமைத்தன நுகத்திற்குட்பட்டிருக்கிற வேலைக்காரர் யாவரும் தங்கள் எஜமான்களை எல்லாக்கனத்திற்கும் பாத்திரரென்று எண்ணிக்கொள்ளக்கடவர்கள்.

Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.

விசுவாசிகளாகிய எஜமான்களை உடையவர்கள், தங்கள் எஜமான்கள் சகோதரராயிருக்கிறதினாலே அவர்களை அசட்டைபண்ணாமல், நல்வேலையின் பலனைப் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளுகிற அவர்கள் விசுவாசிகளும் பிரியருமாயிருக்கிறபடியால், அவர்களுக்கு அதிகமாய் ஊழியஞ்செய்யக்கடவர்கள்; இந்தப்படியே போதித்துப் புத்திசொல்லு.

And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.

ஒருவன் நம்முடைய கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவின் ஆரோக்கியமான வசனங்களையும், தேவபக்திக்கேற்ற உபதேசங்களையும் ஒப்புக்கொள்ளாமல், வேற்றுமையான உபதேசங்களைப் போதிக்கிறவனானால்,

If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;

அவன் இறுமாப்புள்ளவனும், ஒன்றும் அறியாதவனும், தர்க்கங்களையும் வாக்குவாதங்களையும் பற்றி நோய்கொண்டவனுமாயிருக்கிறான்; அவைகளாலே பொறாமையும், சண்டையும், தூஷணங்களும், பொல்லாத சம்சயங்களுமுண்டாகி,

He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,

கெட்ட சிந்தையுள்ளவர்களும் சத்தியமில்லாதவர்களும் தேவபக்தியை ஆதாயத்தொழிலென்று எண்ணுகிறவர்களுமாயிருக்கிற மனுஷர்களால் உண்டாகும் மாறுபாடான தர்க்கங்களும் பிறக்கும்; இப்படிப்பட்டவர்களை விட்டு விலகு.

Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

போதுமென்கிற மனதுடனே கூடிய தேவபக்தியே மிகுந்த ஆதாயம்.

But godliness with contentment is great gain.

உலகத்திலே நாம் ஒன்றும் கொண்டுவந்ததுமில்லை, இதிலிருந்து நாம் ஒன்றும் கொண்டுபோவதுமில்லை என்பது நிச்சயம்.

For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

உண்ணவும் உடுக்கவும் நமக்கு உண்டாயிருந்தால் அது போதுமென்றிருக்கக்கடவோம்.

And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

ஐசுவரியாவன்களாக விரும்புகிறவர்கள் சோதனையிலும் கண்ணியிலும், மனுஷரைக் கேட்டிலும் அழிவிலும் அமிழ்த்துகிற மதிகேடும் சேதமுமான பலவித இச்சைகளிலும் விழுகிறார்கள்.

But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

பண ஆசை எல்லாத் தீமைக்கும் வேராயிருக்கிறது; சிலர் அதை இச்சித்து, விசுவாசத்தைவிட்டு வழுவி, அநேக வேதனைகளாலே தங்களை உருவக் குத்திக்கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள்.

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

நீயோ, தேவனுடைய மனுஷனே, இவைகளை விட்டோடி, நீதியையும் தேவபக்தியையும் விசுவாசத்தையும் அன்பையும் பொறுமையையும் சாந்தகுணத்தையும் அடையும்படி நாடு.

But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

விசுவாசத்தின் நல்ல போராட்டத்தைப் போராடு, நித்தியஜீவனைப் பற்றிக்கொள்; அதற்காகவே நீ அழைக்கப்பட்டாய்; அநேக சாட்சிகளுக்கு முன்பாக நல்ல அறிக்கைபண்ணினவனுமாயிருக்கிறாய்.

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

நம்முடைய கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்து பிரசன்னமாகும்வரைக்கும், நீ இந்தக் கற்பனையை மாசில்லாமலும் குற்றமில்லாமலும் கைக்கொள்ளும்படிக்கு,

I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;

எல்லாவற்றையும் உயிரோடிருக்கச்செய்கிற தேவனுடைய சந்நிதானத்திலேயும், பொந்தியுபிலாத்துவின் முன்னின்று நல்ல அறிக்கையைச் சாட்சியாக விளங்கப்பண்ணின கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவினுடைய சந்நிதானத்திலேயும் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிடுகிறேன்.

That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

அந்தப் பிரசன்னமாகுதலை தேவன் தம்முடைய காலங்களில் வெளிப்படுத்துவார். அவரே நித்தியானந்தமுள்ள ஏகசக்கராதிபதியும், ராஜாதி ராஜாவும், கர்த்தாதி கர்த்தாவும்,

Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

ஒருவராய், சாவாமையுள்ளவரும், சேரக்கூடாத ஒளியில் வாசம்பண்ணுகிறவரும், மனுஷரில் ஒருவரும் கண்டிராதவரும், காணக்கூடாதவருமாயிருக்கிறவர்; அவருக்கே கனமும் நித்திய வல்லமையும் உண்டாயிருப்பதாக. ஆமென்.

Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

இவ்வுலகத்திலே ஐசுவரியமுள்ளவர்கள் இறுமாப்பான சிந்தையுள்ளவர்களாயிராமலும், நிலையற்ற ஐசுவரியத்தின்மேல் நம்பிக்கை வையாமலும், நாம் அனுபவிக்கிறதற்குச் சகலவித நன்மைகளையும் நமக்குச் சம்பூரணமாய்க் கொடுக்கிற ஜீவனுள்ள தேவன்மேல் நம்பிக்கைவைக்கவும்,

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

நன்மைசெய்யவும், நற்கிரியைகளில் ஐசுவரியவான்களாகவும், தாராளமாய்க் கொடுக்கிறவர்களும், உதாரகுணமுள்ளவர்களுமாயிருக்கவும்,

That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
