ஆதியாகமம் அத்தியாயம் 24

ஆபிரகாம் வயதுசென்று முதிர்ந்தவனானான். கர்த்தர் ஆபிரகாமைச் சகல காரியங்களிலும் ஆசீர்வதித்து வந்தார்.

And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the LORD had blessed Abraham in all things.

அப்பொழுது ஆபிரகாம் தன் வீட்டிலுள்ளவர்களில் வயதில் மூத்தவனும், தனக்கு உண்டான எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் அதிகாரியுமாகிய தன் ஊழியக்காரனை நோக்கி:

And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh:

நான் குடியிருக்கிற கானானியருடைய குமாரத்திகளில் நீ என் குமாரனுக்குப் பெண்கொள்ளாமல்;

And I will make thee swear by the LORD, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:

நீ என் தேசத்துக்கும் என் இனத்தாரிடத்துக்கும் போய், என் குமாரனாகிய ஈசாக்குக்குப் பெண்கொள்வேன் என்று, வானத்துக்குத் தேவனும் பூமிக்குத் தேவனுமாகிய கர்த்தர் பேரில் எனக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடுக்கும்படிக்கு, நீ உன் கையை என் தொடையின்கீழ் வை என்றான்.

But thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac.

அதற்கு அந்த ஊழியக்காரன்: அவ்விடத்துப் பெண் என் பின்னே இந்தத் தேசத்துக்கு வர மனதில்லாதிருந்தால், நீர் விட்டுவந்த தேசத்திற்குத்தானே உம்முடைய குமாரனை மறுபடியும் அழைத்துப்போகவேண்டுமோ என்று கேட்டான்.

And the servant said unto him, Peradventure the woman will not be willing to follow me unto this land: must I needs bring thy son again unto the land from whence thou camest?

அதற்கு ஆபிரகாம்: நீ என் குமாரனை மறுபடியும் அங்கே அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போகாதபடிக்கு எச்சரிக்கையாயிரு.

And Abraham said unto him, Beware thou that thou bring not my son thither again.

என்னை என் தகப்பனுடைய வீட்டிலும் என் இனத்தார் இருக்கிற தேசத்திலுமிருந்து அழைத்துவந்தவரும், உன் சந்ததிக்கு இந்த தேசத்தைத் தருவேன் என்று எனக்குச் சொல்லி ஆணையிட்டவருமான வானத்துக்குத் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர், நீ அங்கேயிருந்து என் குமாரனுக்கு ஒரு பெண்ணைக் கொண்டுவரும்படிக்கு, தம்முடைய தூதனை உனக்கு முன்பாக அனுப்புவார்.

The LORD God of heaven, which took me from my father's house, and from the land of my kindred, and which spake unto me, and that sware unto me, saying, Unto thy seed will I give this land; he shall send his angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife unto my son from thence.

பெண் உன் பின்னே வர மனதில்லாதிருந்தாளேயாகில், அப்பொழுது நீ இந்த என் ஆணைக்கு நீங்கலாயிருப்பாய்; அங்கே மாத்திரம் என் குமாரனை மறுபடியும் அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போகவேண்டாம் என்றான்.

And if the woman will not be willing to follow thee, then thou shalt be clear from this my oath: only bring not my son thither again.

அப்பொழுது அந்த ஊழியக்காரன் தன் கையைத் தன் எஜமானாகிய ஆபிரகாமுடைய தொடையின்கீழ் வைத்து, இந்தக் காரியத்தைக்குறித்து அவனுக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடுத்தான்.

And the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and sware to him concerning that matter.

பின்பு அந்த ஊழியக்காரன் தன் எஜமானுடைய ஒட்டகங்களில் பத்து ஒட்டகங்களைத் தன்னுடனே கொண்டுபோனான்; தன் எஜமானுடைய சகலவித உச்சிதமான பொருள்களும் அவன் கையில் இருந்தன; அவன் எழுந்து புறப்பட்டுப்போய், மெசொப்பொத்தாமியாவிலே நாகோருடைய ஊரில் சேர்ந்து,

And the servant took ten camels of the camels of his master, and departed; for all the goods of his master were in his hand: and he arose, and went to Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor.

ஊருக்குப் புறம்பே ஒரு தண்ணீர்த் துரவண்டையிலே, தண்ணீர் மொள்ள ஸ்திரீகள் புறப்படுகிற சாயங்கால வேளையிலே, ஒட்டகங்களை மடக்கி, தனக்குள்ளே சொல்லிக்கொண்டது என்னவென்றால்:

And he made his camels to kneel down without the city by a well of water at the time of the evening, even the time that women go out to draw water.

என் எஜமானாகிய ஆபிரகாமுக்கு தேவனாயிருக்கிற கர்த்தாவே, இன்றைக்கு நீர் எனக்குக் காரியம் சித்திக்கப்பண்ணி, என் எஜமானாகிய ஆபிரகாமுக்குத் தயவு செய்தருளும்.

And he said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham.

இதோ, நான் இந்தத் தண்ணீர்த்துரவண்டையிலே நிற்கிறேன், இந்த ஊராருடைய பெண்கள் தண்ணீர் மொள்ளப்புறப்பட்டு வருவார்களே.

Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water:

நான் குடிக்க உன் குடத்தைச் சாய்க்கவேண்டும் என்று நான் சொல்லும்போது: குடி என்றும், உன் ஒட்டகங்களும் குடிக்கும்படி வார்ப்பேன் என்றும் சொல்லும் பெண் எவளோ, அவளே நீர் உம்முடைய ஊழியக்காரனாகிய ஈசாக்குக்கு நியமித்தவளாயிருக்கவும், என் எஜமானுக்கு அநுக்கிரகம் செய்தீர் என்று நான் அதினாலே அறியவும் செய்தருளும் என்றான்.

And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master.

அவன் இப்படிச் சொல்லி முடிக்கும் முன்னே, இதோ, ஆபிரகாமுடைய சகோதரனாகிய நாகோரின் மனைவி மில்க்காளுடைய குமாரனாகிய பெத்துவேலுக்குப் பிறந்த ரெபெக்காள் குடத்தைத் தோள்மேல் வைத்துக்கொண்டு புறப்பட்டுவந்தாள்.

And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.

அந்தப் பெண் மகா ரூபவதியும், புருஷனை அறியாத கன்னிகையுமாய் இருந்தாள்; அவள் துரவில் இறங்கி, தன் குடத்தை நிரப்பிக்கொண்டு ஏறிவந்தாள்.

And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up.

அப்பொழுது அந்த ஊழியக்காரன், அவளுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டோடி: உன் குடத்திலிருக்கிற தண்ணீரில் கொஞ்சம் குடிக்கத் தரவேண்டும் என்றான்.

And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy pitcher.

அதற்கு அவள்: குடியும் என் ஆண்டவனே என்று சீக்கிரமாய்க் குடத்தைத் தன் கையில் இறக்கிக்கொண்டு, அவனுக்குக் குடிக்கக் கொடுத்தாள்.

And she said, Drink, my lord: and she hasted, and let down her pitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink.

கொடுத்தபின், உம்முடைய ஒட்டகங்களும் குடித்துத் தீருமட்டும் அவைகளுக்கும் மொண்டு வார்ப்பேன் என்றுசொல்லி;

And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking.

சீக்கிரமாய்த் தன் குடத்துத் தண்ணீரைத் தொட்டியிலே ஊற்றிவிட்டு, இன்னும் மொண்டுவரத் துரவண்டையில் ஓடி, அவனுடைய ஒட்டகங்களுக்கெல்லாம் மொண்டு வார்த்தாள்.

And she hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels.

அந்த மனிதன் அவளைக்குறித்து ஆச்சரியப்பட்டு, கர்த்தர் தன் பிரயாணத்தை வாய்க்கப்பண்ணினாரோ இல்லையோ என்று அறியும்பொருட்டு மவுனமாயிருந்தான்.

And the man wondering at her held his peace, to wit whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not.

ஒட்டகங்கள் குடித்துத் தீர்ந்தபின், அந்த மனிதன் அரைச்சேக்கல் எடையுள்ள பொற்காதணியையும், அவள் கைகளுக்குப் பத்துச் சேக்கல் எடைப் பொன்னுள்ள இரண்டு கடகங்களையும் எடுத்துக்கொடுத்து,

And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold;

நீ யாருடைய மகள், எனக்குச் சொல்லவேண்டும்; நாங்கள் உன் தகப்பன் வீட்டில் இராத்தங்க இடம் உண்டா என்றான்.

And said, Whose daughter art thou? tell me, I pray thee: is there room in thy father's house for us to lodge in?

அதற்கு அவள்: நான் நாகோருக்கு மில்க்காள் பெற்ற குமாரனாகிய பெத்துவேலின் மகள் என்று சொன்னதுமன்றி,

And she said unto him, I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, which she bare unto Nahor.

எங்களிடத்தில் வைக்கோலும் தீவனமும் வேண்டியமட்டும் இருக்கிறது; இராத்தங்க இடமும் உண்டு என்றாள்.

She said moreover unto him, We have both straw and provender enough, and room to lodge in.

அப்பொழுது அந்த மனிதன் தலைகுனிந்து, கர்த்தரைப்பணிந்துகொண்டு,

And the man bowed down his head, and worshipped the LORD.

என் எஜமானாகிய ஆபிரகாமின் தேவனாயிருக்கிற கர்த்தருக்கு ஸ்தோத்திரம்; அவர் தம்முடைய கிருபையையும், தம்முடைய உண்மையையும் என் எஜமானை விட்டு நீக்கவில்லை; நான் பிரயாணம் பண்ணிவருகையில், கர்த்தர் என் எஜமானுடைய சகோதரர் வீட்டுக்கு என்னை அழைத்துக்கொண்டு வந்தார் என்றான்.

And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master's brethren.

அந்தப் பெண் ஓடி, இந்தக் காரியங்களைத் தன் தாயின் வீட்டிலுள்ளவர்களுக்கு அறிவித்தாள்.

And the damsel ran, and told them of her mother's house these things.

ரெபெக்காளுக்கு ஒரு சகோதரன் இருந்தான்; அவனுக்கு லாபான் என்று பேர்; அந்த லாபான் வெளியே துரவண்டையிலே இருந்த அந்த மனிதனிடத்துக்கு ஓடினான்.

And Rebekah had a brother, and his name was Laban: and Laban ran out unto the man, unto the well.

அவன் தன் சகோதரி தரித்திருந்த அந்தக் காதணியையும், அவள் கைகளில் போட்டிருந்த கடகங்களையும் பார்த்து, இன்ன இன்னபடி அந்த மனிதன் என்னோடே பேசினானென்று தன் சகோதரி ரெபெக்காள் சொன்ன வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டமாத்திரத்தில், அந்த மனிதனிடத்தில் வந்தான்; அவன் துரவு அருகே ஒட்டகங்கள் அண்டையில் நின்றுகொண்டிருந்தான்.

And it came to pass, when he saw the earring and bracelets upon his sister's hands, and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister, saying, Thus spake the man unto me; that he came unto the man; and, behold, he stood by the camels at the well.

அப்பொழுது அவன்: கர்த்தரால் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவரே, உள்ளே வாரும்; நீர் வெளியே நிற்பானேன்? உமக்கு வீடும், ஒட்டகங்களுக்கு இடமும் ஆயத்தம்பண்ணியிருக்கிறேன் என்றான்.

And he said, Come in, thou blessed of the LORD; wherefore standest thou without? for I have prepared the house, and room for the camels.

அப்பொழுது அந்த மனிதன் வீட்டுக்குப் போனான். லாபான் ஒட்டகங்களின் கட்டவிழ்த்து, ஒட்டகங்களுக்கு வைக்கோலும் தீவனமும் போட்டு, அவனும், அவனோடே வந்தவர்களும் தங்கள் கால்களைக் கழுவிக்கொள்ளத் தண்ணீர் கொடுத்தான்.

And the man came into the house: and he ungirded his camels, and gave straw and provender for the camels, and water to wash his feet, and the men's feet that were with him.

பின்பு, அவனுக்கு முன்பாக போஜனம் வைக்கப்பட்டது. அப்பொழுது அவன்: நான் வந்த காரியத்தைச் சொல்லுமுன்னே புசிக்கமாட்டேன் என்றான். அதற்கு அவன், சொல்லும் என்றான்.

And there was set meat before him to eat: but he said, I will not eat, until I have told mine errand. And he said, Speak on.

அப்பொழுது அவன்: நான் ஆபிரகாமுடைய ஊழியக்காரன்.

And he said, I am Abraham's servant.

கர்த்தர் என் எஜமானை மிகவும் ஆசீர்வதித்திருக்கிறார், அவர் சீமானாயிருக்கிறார்; கர்த்தர் அவருக்கு ஆடுமாடுகளையும், வெள்ளியையும், பொன்னையும், வேலைக்காரரையும், வேலைக்காரிகளையும், ஒட்டகங்களையும், கழுதைகளையும் கொடுத்திருக்கிறார்.

And the LORD hath blessed my master greatly; and he is become great: and he hath given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and asses.

என் எஜமானுடைய மனைவியாகிய சாராள் முதிர்வயதானபோது, என் எஜமானுக்கு ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்றாள்; அவர் தமக்கு உண்டான யாவையும் அவனுக்குக் கொடுத்திருக்கிறார்.

And Sarah my master's wife bare a son to my master when she was old: and unto him hath he given all that he hath.

என் எஜமான் என்னை நோக்கி: நான் குடியிருக்கிற கானான் தேசத்தாருடைய குமாரத்திகளில் நீ என் குமாரனுக்குப் பெண்கொள்ளாமல்,

And my master made me swear, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell:

நீ என் தகப்பன் வீட்டுக்கும், என் இனத்தாரிடத்துக்கும் போய், என் குமாரனுக்குப் பெண்கொள்ளவேண்டும் என்று ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடுக்கும்படி சொன்னார்.

But thou shalt go unto my father's house, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son.

அப்பொழுது நான் என் எஜமானை நோக்கி: ஒருவேளை அந்தப் பெண் என்பின்னே வராதேபோனாலோ என்று கேட்டதற்கு,

And I said unto my master, Peradventure the woman will not follow me.

அவர்: நான் வழிபடும் கர்த்தர் உன்னோடே தம்முடைய தூதனை அனுப்பி, உன் பிரயாணத்தை வாய்க்கப்பண்ணுவார்; என் இனத்தாரிடத்திலும், என் தகப்பன் வீட்டிலும் நீ என் குமாரனுக்குப் பெண்கொள்வாய்.

And he said unto me, The LORD, before whom I walk, will send his angel with thee, and prosper thy way; and thou shalt take a wife for my son of my kindred, and of my father's house:

நீ என் இனத்தாரிடத்துக்குப்போனால், என் ஆணைக்கு நீங்கலாயிருப்பாய்; அவர்கள் உனக்குப் பெண்கொடாமற்போனாலும், நீ என் ஆணைக்கு நீங்கலாயிருப்பாய் என்றார்.

Then shalt thou be clear from this my oath, when thou comest to my kindred; and if they give not thee one, thou shalt be clear from my oath.

அப்படியே நான் இன்று துரவண்டையிலே வந்து: என் எஜமானாகிய ஆபிரகாமின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரே, என் பிரயாணத்தை நீர் இப்பொழுது வாய்க்கப்பண்ணுவீரானால்,

And I came this day unto the well, and said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, if now thou do prosper my way which I go:

இதோ, நான் தண்ணீர்த் துரவண்டையிலே நிற்கிறேன், தண்ணீர் மொள்ள வரப்போகிற கன்னிகையை நான் நோக்கி: உன் குடத்திலிருக்கிற தண்ணீரில் கொஞ்சம் எனக்குக் குடிக்கத்தரவேண்டும் என்று கேட்கும்போது:

Behold, I stand by the well of water; and it shall come to pass, that when the virgin cometh forth to draw water, and I say to her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water of thy pitcher to drink;

நீ குடி என்றும், உன் ஒட்டகங்களுக்கும் மொண்டு வார்ப்பேன் என்றும் சொல்லும் பெண்ணே கர்த்தர் என் எஜமானுடைய குமாரனுக்கு நியமித்த ஸ்திரீயாகவேண்டும் என்றேன்.

And she say to me, Both drink thou, and I will also draw for thy camels: let the same be the woman whom the LORD hath appointed out for my master's son.

நான் இதை என் இருதயத்தில் சொல்லி முடிக்குமுன்னே, இதோ, ரெபெக்காள் தன் குடத்தைத் தோள்மேல் வைத்துக்கொண்டு புறப்பட்டுவந்து, துரவில் இறங்கிப்போய்த் தண்ணீர் மொண்டாள். அப்பொழுது நான்: எனக்குக் குடிக்கத்தரவேண்டும் என்றேன்.

And before I had done speaking in mine heart, behold, Rebekah came forth with her pitcher on her shoulder; and she went down unto the well, and drew water: and I said unto her, Let me drink, I pray thee.

அவள் சீக்கிரமாய்த் தன் தோள்மேலிருந்த குடத்தை இறக்கி, குடியும், உம்முடைய ஒட்டகங்களுக்கும் வார்ப்பேன் என்றாள். நான் குடித்தேன்; ஒட்டகங்களுக்கும் வார்த்தாள்.

And she made haste, and let down her pitcher from her shoulder, and said, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: so I drank, and she made the camels drink also.

அப்பொழுது: நீ யாருடைய மகள் என்று அவளைக் கேட்டேன்; அதற்கு அவள்: நான் மில்க்காள் நாகோருக்குப் பெற்ற குமாரனாகிய பெத்துவேலின் மகள் என்றாள்; அப்பொழுது அவளுக்குக் காதணியையும், அவள் கைகளிலே கடகங்களையும் போட்டு;

And I asked her, and said, Whose daughter art thou? And she said, The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor's son, whom Milcah bare unto him: and I put the earring upon her face, and the bracelets upon her hands.

தலைகுனிந்து, கர்த்தரைப் பணிந்துகொண்டு, நான் என் எஜமானுடைய சகோதரன் குமாரத்தியை அவர் குமாரனுக்குக் கொள்ள என்னை நேர்வழியாய் நடத்திவந்த என் எஜமானாகிய ஆபிரகாமின் தேவனாயிருக்கிற கர்த்தரை ஸ்தோத்திரித்தேன்.

And I bowed down my head, and worshipped the LORD, and blessed the LORD God of my master Abraham, which had led me in the right way to take my master's brother's daughter unto his son.

இப்பொழுதும் நீங்களும் என் எஜமானுக்குத் தயையும் உண்மையும் உடையவர்களாய் நடக்க மனதுள்ளவர்களானால், எனக்குச் சொல்லுங்கள்; இல்லையென்றால் அதையும் எனக்குச் சொல்லுங்கள், அப்பொழுது நான் வலதுபுறத்தையாகிலும் இடதுபுறத்தையாகிலும் நோக்கிப்போவேன் என்றான்.

And now if ye will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me: and if not, tell me; that I may turn to the right hand, or to the left.

அப்பொழுது லாபானும் பெத்துவேலும் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: இந்தக் காரியம் கர்த்தரால் வந்தது, உமக்கு நாங்கள் நலம் பொலம் ஒன்றும் சொல்லக்கூடாது.

Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, The thing proceedeth from the LORD: we cannot speak unto thee bad or good.

இதோ, ரெபெக்காள் உமக்கு முன்பாக இருக்கிறாள்; கர்த்தர் சொன்னபடியே அவள் உமது எஜமானுடைய குமாரனுக்கு மனைவியாகும்படிக்கு, அவளை அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோம் என்றார்கள்.

Behold, Rebekah is before thee, take her, and go, and let her be thy master's son's wife, as the LORD hath spoken.

ஆபிரகாமின் ஊழியக்காரன் அவர்கள் வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டபோது, தரை மட்டும் குனிந்து, கர்த்தரைப் பணிந்துகொண்டான்.

And it came to pass, that, when Abraham's servant heard their words, he worshipped the LORD, bowing himself to the earth.

பின்பு அந்த ஊழியக்காரன் வெள்ளியுடைமைகளையும், பொன்னுடைமைகளையும், வஸ்திரங்களையும் எடுத்து, ரெபெக்காளுக்குக் கொடுத்ததுமன்றி, அவளுடைய சகோதரனுக்கும் தாய்க்கும் சில உச்சிதங்களையும் கொடுத்தான்.

And the servant brought forth jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment, and gave them to Rebekah: he gave also to her brother and to her mother precious things.

பின்பு அவனும் அவனோடிருந்த மனிதரும் புசித்துக் குடித்து, இராத்தங்கினார்கள்; காலையிலே எழுந்திருந்து, அவன்: என் எஜமானிடத்துக்கு என்னை அனுப்பிவிடுங்கள் என்றான்.

And they did eat and drink, he and the men that were with him, and tarried all night; and they rose up in the morning, and he said, Send me away unto my master.

அப்பொழுது அவள் சகோதரனும் அவள் தாயும், பத்து நாளாகிலும் பெண் எங்களோடிருக்கட்டும், பிற்பாடு போகலாம் என்றார்கள்.

And her brother and her mother said, Let the damsel abide with us a few days, at the least ten; after that she shall go.

அதற்கு அவன்: கர்த்தர் என் பிரயாணத்தை வாய்க்கப்பண்ணியிருக்க, நீங்கள் எனக்குத் தடைசெய்யாதிருங்கள்; நான் என் எஜமானிடத்துக்குப்போக என்னை அனுப்பிவிடவேண்டும் என்றான்.

And he said unto them, Hinder me not, seeing the LORD hath prospered my way; send me away that I may go to my master.

அப்பொழுது அவர்கள்: பெண்ணை அழைத்து, அவள் வாய்ப்பிறப்பைக் கேட்போம் என்று சொல்லி,

And they said, We will call the damsel, and enquire at her mouth.

ரெபெக்காளை அழைத்து: நீ இந்த மனிதனோடேகூடப் போகிறாயா என்று கேட்டார்கள். அவள்: போகிறேன் என்றாள்.

And they called Rebekah, and said unto her, Wilt thou go with this man? And she said, I will go.

And they sent away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and Abraham's servant, and his men.

And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them.

And Rebekah arose, and her damsels, and they rode upon the camels, and followed the man: and the servant took Rebekah, and went his way.

ஈசாக்கு தென்தேசத்தில் குடியிருந்தான். அப்பொழுது அவன்: லகாய்ரோயீ என்னப்பட்ட துரவின் வழியாய்ப் புறப்பட்டு வந்தான்.

And Isaac came from the way of the well Lahairoi; for he dwelt in the south country.

ஈசாக்கு சாயங்காலவேளையிலே தியானம்பண்ண வெளியிலே போயிருந்து, தன் கண்களை ஏறெடுத்துப்பார்த்தபோது, ஒட்டகங்கள் வரக்கண்டான்.

And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming.

ரெபெக்காளும் தன் கண்களை ஏறெடுத்து ஈசாக்கைக் கண்டபோது,

And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the camel.

ஊழியக்காரனை நோக்கி: அங்கே வெளியிலே நமக்கு எதிராக நடந்துவருகிற அந்த மனிதன் யார் என்று கேட்டாள். அவர்தான் என் எஜமான் என்று ஊழியக்காரன் சொன்னான். அப்பொழுது அவள் ஒட்டகத்தை விட்டிறங்கி முக்காடிட்டுக்கொண்டாள்.

For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant had said, It is my master: therefore she took a vail, and covered herself.

ஊழியக்காரன் தான் செய்த சகல காரியங்களையும் ஈசாக்குக்கு விவரித்துச் சொன்னான்.

And the servant told Isaac all things that he had done.

அப்பொழுது ஈசாக்கு ரெபெக்காளைத் தன் தாய் சாராளுடைய கூடாரத்துக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், அவளைத் தனக்கு மனைவியாக்கிக்கொண்டு, அவளை நேசித்தான். ஈசாக்கு தன் தாய்க்காகக் கொண்டிருந்த துக்கம் நீங்கி ஆறுதல் அடைந்தான்.

And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.

மத்தேயு அத்தியாயம் 12

அக்காலத்திலே, இயேசு ஓய்வுநாளில் பயிர்வழியே போனார்; அவருடைய சீஷர்கள் பசியாயிருந்து, கதிர்களைக் கொய்து, தின்னத் தொடங்கினார்கள்.

At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat.

பரிசேயர் அதைக்கண்டு, அவரை நோக்கி: இதோ, ஓய்வுநாளில் செய்யத்தகாததை உம்முடைய சீஷர்கள் செய்கிறார்களே என்றார்கள்.

But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.

அதற்கு அவர்: தாவீதும் அவனோடிருந்தவர்களும் பசியாயிருந்தபோது செய்ததை நீங்கள் வாசிக்கவில்லையா?

But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him;

அவன் தேவனுடைய வீட்டில் பிரவேசித்து, ஆசாரியர் தவிர வேறொருவரும் புசிக்கத்தகாத தேவசமுகத்து அப்பங்களைத் தானும் தன்னோடிருந்தவர்களும் புசித்தார்களே.

How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?

அன்றியும், ஓய்வுநாட்களில் ஆசாரியர்கள் தேவாலயத்தில் ஓய்ந்திராமல், ஓய்வுநாளை வேலை நாளாக்கினாலும், குற்றமில்லாதிருக்கிறார்கள் என்று நீங்கள் வேதத்தில் வாசிக்கவில்லையா?

Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

தேவாலயத்திலும் பெரியவர் இங்கே இருக்கிறார் என்று உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.

பலியையல்ல இரக்கத்தையே விரும்புகிறேன் என்பதின் கருத்து இன்னதென்று அறிந்தீர்களானால், குற்றமில்லாதவர்களை நீங்கள் குற்றப்படுத்தமாட்டீர்கள்.

But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.

மனுஷகுமாரன் ஓய்வுநாளுக்கும் ஆண்டவராய் இருக்கிறார் என்றார்.

For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

அவர் அவ்விடம் விட்டுப்போய், அவர்களுடைய ஜெப ஆலயத்தில் பிரவேசித்தார்.

And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:

அங்கே சூம்பின கையையுடைய மனுஷன் ஒருவன் இருந்தான். அப்பொழுது, அவர்மேல் குற்றஞ்சாட்டும்படிக்கு: ஓய்வுநாளில் சொஸ்தமாக்குகிறது நியாயமா என்று கேட்டார்கள்.

And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.

அதற்கு அவர்: உங்களில் எந்த மனுஷனுக்காகிலும் ஒரு ஆடு இருந்து, அது ஓய்வுநாளில் குழியிலே விழுந்தால், அதைப் பிடித்துத் தூக்கிவிடமாட்டானோ?

And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?

ஆட்டைப்பார்க்கிலும் மனுஷனானவன் எவ்வளவோ விசேஷித்திருக்கிறான்! ஆதலால், ஓய்வுநாளிலே நன்மைசெய்வது நியாயந்தான் என்று சொன்னார்.

How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

பின்பு அந்த மனுஷனை நோக்கி: உன் கையை நீட்டு என்றார். அவன் நீட்டினான்; அது மறுகையைப்போல் சொஸ்தமாயிற்று.

Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.

அப்பொழுது, பரிசேயர் வெளியேபோய், அவரைக் கொலைசெய்யும்படி அவருக்கு விரோதமாய் ஆலோசனைபண்ணினார்கள்.

Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.

இயேசு அதை அறிந்து, அவ்விடம்விட்டு விலகிப்போனார். திரளான ஜனங்கள் அவருக்குப் பின்சென்றார்கள்; அவர்களெல்லாரையும் அவர் சொஸ்தமாக்கி,

But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;

தம்மைப் பிரசித்தம்பண்ணாதபடி அவர்களுக்குக் கண்டிப்பாய்க் கட்டளையிட்டார்.

And charged them that they should not make him known:

ஏசாயா தீர்க்கதரிசியால் உரைக்கப்பட்டது நிறைவேறும்படி இப்படி நடந்தது. அவன் உரைத்ததாவது:

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

இதோ, நான் தெரிந்துகொண்ட என்னுடைய தாசன், என் ஆத்துமாவுக்குப் பிரியமாயிருக்கிற என்னுடைய நேசன்; என் ஆவியை அவர்மேல் அமரப்பண்ணுவேன், அவர் புறஜாதியாருக்கு நியாயத்தை அறிவிப்பார்.

Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.

வாக்குவாதம் செய்யவுமாட்டார், கூக்குரலிடவுமாட்டார்; அவருடைய சத்தத்தை ஒருவனும் வீதிகளில் கேட்பதுமில்லை.

He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.

அவர் நியாயத்திற்கு ஜெயங்கிடைக்கப்பண்ணுகிறவரைக்கும், நெரிந்த நாணலை முறிக்காமலும், மங்கியெரிகிற திரியை அணைக்காமலும் இருப்பார்.

A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.

அவருடைய நாமத்தின்மேல் புறஜாதியார் நம்பிக்கையாயிருப்பார்கள் என்பதே.

And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.

அப்பொழுது, பிசாசு பிடித்த குருடும் ஊமையுமான ஒருவன் அவரிடத்தில் கொண்டுவரப்பட்டான்; குருடும் ஊமையுமானவன் பேசவுங் காணவுந்தக்கதாக அவனைச் சொஸ்தமாக்கினார்.

Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.

ஜனங்களெல்லாரும் ஆச்சரியப்பட்டு: தாவீதின் குமாரன் இவர்தானோ? என்றார்கள்.

And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?

பரிசேயர் அதைக்கேட்டு: இவன் பிசாசுகளின் தலைவனாகிய பெயெல்செபூலினாலே பிசாசுகளைத் துரத்துகிறானேயல்லாமல் மற்றப்படியல்ல என்றார்கள்.

But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.

இயேசு அவர்கள் சிந்தனைகளை அறிந்து, அவர்களை நோக்கி: தனக்குத் தானே விரோதமாய்ப் பிரிந்திருக்கிற எந்த ராஜ்யமும் பாழாய்ப்போகும்; தனக்குத் தானே விரோதமாய்ப் பிரிந்திருக்கிற எந்தப் பட்டணமும் எந்த வீடும் நிலைநிற்கமாட்டாது.

And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

சாத்தானைச் சாத்தான் துரத்தினால் தனக்கு விரோதமாகத்தானே பிரிவினை செய்கிறதாயிருக்குமே; அப்படிச் செய்தால் அவன் ராஜ்யம் எப்படி நிலைநிற்கும்?

And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?

நான் பெயெல்செபூலினாலே பிசாசுகளைத் துரத்தினால், உங்கள் பிள்ளைகள் அவைகளை யாராலே துரத்துகிறார்கள்? ஆகையால், அவர்களே உங்களை நியாயந்தீர்க்கிறவர்களாயிருப்பார்கள்.

And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.

நான் தேவனுடைய ஆவியினாலே பிசாசுகளைத் துரத்துகிறபடியால், தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யம் உங்களிடத்தில் வந்திருக்கிறதே.

But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.

அன்றியும், பலவானை முந்திக் கட்டினாலொழிய பலவானுடைய வீட்டுக்குள் ஒருவன் புகுந்து, அவன் உடைமைகளை எப்படிக் கொள்ளையிடக்கூடும்? கட்டினானேயாகில், அவன் வீட்டைக் கொள்ளையிடலாம்.

Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.

என்னோடே இராதவன் எனக்கு விரோதியாயிருக்கிறான்; என்னோடே சேர்க்காதவன் சிதறடிக்கிறான்.

He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.

ஆதலால், நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்: எந்தப் பாவமும் எந்தத் தூஷணமும் மனுஷருக்கு மன்னிக்கப்படும்; ஆவியானவருக்கு விரோதமான தூஷணமோ மனுஷருக்கு மன்னிக்கப்படுவதில்லை.

Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

எவனாகிலும் மனுஷகுமாரனுக்கு விரோதமான வார்த்தை சொன்னால் அது அவனுக்கு மன்னிக்கப்படும்; எவனாகிலும் பரிசுத்த ஆவிக்கு விரோதமாகப் பேசினால் அது இம்மையிலும் மறுமையிலும் அவனுக்கு மன்னிக்கப்படுவதில்லை.

And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

மரம் நல்லதென்றால், அதின் கனியும் நல்லதென்று சொல்லுங்கள்; மரம் கெட்டதென்றால், அதின் கனியும் கெட்டதென்று சொல்லுங்கள்; மரமானது அதின் கனியினால் அறியப்படும்.

Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.

விரியன் பாம்புக் குட்டிகளே, நீங்கள் பொல்லாதவர்களாயிருக்க, நலமானவைகளை எப்படிப் பேசுவீர்கள்? இருதயத்தின் நிறைவினால் வாய் பேசும்.

O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

நல்ல மனுஷன் இருதயமாகிய நல்ல பொக்கிஷத்திலிருந்து நல்லவைகளை எடுத்துக்காட்டுகிறான், பொல்லாத மனுஷன் பொல்லாத பொக்கிஷத்திலிருந்து பொல்லாதவைகளை எடுத்துக்காட்டுகிறான்.

A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

மனுஷர் பேசும் வீணான வார்த்தைகள் யாவையும் குறித்து நியாயத்தீர்ப்பு நாளிலே கணக்கொப்புவிக்கவேண்டும் என்று உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

ஏனெனில், உன் வார்த்தைகளினாலே நீதிமான் என்று தீர்க்கப்படுவாய்; அல்லது உன் வார்த்தைகளினாலே குற்றவாளி என்று தீர்க்கப்படுவாய் என்றார்.

For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

அப்பொழுது, வேதபாரகரிலும் பரிசேயரிலும் சிலர் அவரை நோக்கி: போதகரே, உம்மால் ஒரு அடையாளத்தைக் காணவிரும்புகிறோம் என்றார்கள்.

Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.

அவர்களுக்கு அவர் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: இந்தப் பொல்லாத விபசாரச் சந்ததியார் அடையாளத்தைத் தேடுகிறார்கள்; ஆனாலும் யோனா தீர்க்கதரிசியின் அடையாளமேயன்றி வேறே அடையாளம் இவர்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படுவதில்லை.

But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:

யோனா இரவும் பகலும் மூன்றுநாள் ஒரு பெரிய மீனின் வயிற்றில் இருந்ததுபோல, மனுஷகுமாரனும் இரவும் பகலும் மூன்றுநாள் பூமியின் இருதயத்தில் இருப்பார்.

For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

யோனாவின் பிரசங்கத்தைக் கேட்டு நினிவே பட்டணத்தார் மனந்திரும்பினார்கள். இதோ, யோனாவிலும் பெரியவர் இங்கே இருக்கிறார். ஆதலால் நியாயத்தீர்ப்புநாளிலே நினிவே பட்டணத்தார் இந்தச் சந்ததியாரோடெழுந்து நின்று இவர்கள்மேல் குற்றஞ்சுமத்துவார்கள்.

The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

தென்தேசத்து ராஜஸ்திரீ பூமியின் எல்லைகளிலிருந்து சாலொமோனுடைய ஞானத்தைக் கேட்க வந்தாள். இதோ, சாலொமோனிலும் பெரியவர் இங்கே இருக்கிறார். ஆதலால் நியாயத்தீர்ப்பு நாளிலே அந்த ராஜஸ்திரீ இந்தச் சந்ததியாரோடெழுந்து நின்று இவர்கள்மேல் குற்றஞ்சுமத்துவாள்.

The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

அசுத்த ஆவி ஒரு மனுஷனை விட்டுப் புறப்படும்போது, வறண்ட இடங்களில் அலைந்து, இளைப்பாறுதல் தேடியும் கண்டடையாமல்:

When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.

நான் விட்டுவந்த என் வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்பிப்போவேன் என்று சொல்லி; அங்கே வந்து, அந்த வீடு வெறுமையாகவும், பெருக்கி, ஜோடிக்கப்பட்டதாகவும் இருக்கக்கண்டு,

Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.

திரும்பிப்போய், தன்னிலும் பொல்லாத வேறு ஏழு ஆவிகளைத் தன்னோடே கூட்டிக்கொண்டுவந்து, உட்புகுந்து, அங்கே குடியிருக்கும்; அப்பொழுது, அந்த மனுஷனுடைய முன்னிலைமையிலும் அவன் பின்னிலைமை அதிக கேடுள்ளதாயிருக்கும்; அப்படியே இந்தப் பொல்லாத சந்ததியாருக்கும் சம்பவிக்கும் என்றார்.

Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

இப்படி அவர் ஜனங்களோடே பேசுகையில், அவருடைய தாயாரும் சகோதரரும் அவரிடத்தில் பேசவேண்டுமென்று வெளியே நின்றார்கள்.

While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.

அப்பொழுது, ஒருவன் அவரை நோக்கி: உம்முடைய தாயாரும் உம்முடைய சகோதரரும் உம்மோடே பேசவேண்டுமென்று வெளியே நிற்கிறார்கள் என்றான்.

Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.

தம்மிடத்தில் இப்படிச் சொன்னவனுக்கு அவர் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: என் தாயார் யார்? என் சகோதரர் யார்? என்று சொல்லி,

But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?

தம்முடைய கையைத் தமது சீஷர்களுக்கு நேரே நீட்டி; இதோ, என் தாயும் என் சகோதரரும் இவர்களே!

And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

பரலோகத்திலிருக்கிற என் பிதாவின் சித்தத்தின்படி செய்கிறவன் எவனோ, அவனே எனக்குச் சகோதரனும், சகோதரியும், தாயுமாய் இருக்கிறான் என்றார்.

For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
