நியாயாதிபதிகள் அத்தியாயம் 4

ஏகூத் மரணமடைந்தபின்பு இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் திரும்பக் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்துவந்தார்கள்.

And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the LORD, when Ehud was dead.

ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் அவர்களை ஆத்சோரில் ஆளுகிற யாபீன் என்னும் கானானியருடைய ராஜாவின் கையிலே விற்றுப்போட்டார்; அவனுடைய சேனாபதிக்குச் சிசெரா என்று பேர்; அவன் புறஜாதிகளுடைய பட்டணமாகிய அரோசேத்திலே குடியிருந்தான்.

And the LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, that reigned in Hazor; the captain of whose host was Sisera, which dwelt in Harosheth of the Gentiles.

அவனுக்குத் தொளாயிரம் இருப்பு ரதங்கள் இருந்தது; அவன் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரை இருபது வருஷம் கொடுமையாய் ஒடுக்கினான்; இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தரை நோக்கி முறையிட்டார்கள்.

And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD: for he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and twenty years he mightily oppressed the children of Israel.

அக்காலத்திலே லபிதோத்தின் மனைவியாகிய தெபொராள் என்னும் தீர்க்கதரிசியானவள் இஸ்ரவேலை நியாயம் விசாரித்தாள்.

And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.

அவள் எப்பிராயீம் மலைத்தேசமான ராமாவுக்கும் பெத்தேலுக்கும் நடுவிலிருக்கிற தெபொராளின் பேரீச்சமரத்தின்கீழே குடியிருந்தாள்; அங்கே இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் அவளிடத்திற்கு நியாயவிசாரணைக்குப் போவார்கள்.

And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.

அவள் நப்தலியிலுள்ள கேதேசிலிருக்கிற அபினோகாமின் குமாரன் பாராக்கை வரவழைத்து: நீ நப்தலி புத்திரரிலும், செபுலோன் புத்திரரிலும் பதினாயிரம்பேரைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, தாபோர் மலைக்குப் போகக்கடவாய் என்றும்,

And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedeshnaphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the LORD God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun?

நான் யாபீனின் சேனாபதியாகிய சிசெராவையும், அவன் ரதங்களையும், அவன் சேனையையும், கீசோன் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே உன்னிடத்திற்கு வர இழுத்து, அவனை உன் கையில் ஒப்புகொடுப்பேன் என்றும், இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிடவில்லையா என்றாள்.

And I will draw unto thee to the river Kishon Sisera, the captain of Jabin's army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thine hand.

அதற்குப் பாராக்: நீ என்னோடேகூட வந்தால் போவேன்; என்னோடேகூட வராவிட்டால், நான் போகமாட்டேன் என்றான்.

And Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go.

அதற்கு அவள்: நான் உன்னோடேகூட நிச்சமாய் வருவேன்; ஆனாலும் நீ போகிற பிரயாணத்தில் உண்டாகிற மேன்மை உனக்குக் கிடையாது; கர்த்தர் சிசெராவை ஒரு ஸ்திரீயின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார் என்று சொல்லி, தெபொராள் எழும்பி, பாராக்கோடேகூடக் கேதேசுக்குப் போனாள்.

And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.

அப்பொழுது பாராக்: செபுலோன் மனுஷரையும் நப்தலி மனுஷரையும் கேதேசுக்கு வரவழைத்து, தன்னைப் பின்செல்லும் பதினாயிரம்பேரோடே போனான்; தெபொராளும் அவனோடேகூடப் போனாள்.

And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; and he went up with ten thousand men at his feet: and Deborah went up with him.

கேனியனான ஏபேர் என்பவன் மோசேயின் மாமனாகிய ஒபாபின் புத்திரராயிருக்கிற கேனியரை விட்டுப் பிரிந்து, கேதேசின் கிட்ட இருக்கிற சானாயிம் என்னும் கர்வாலி மரங்கள் அருகே தன் கூடாரத்தைப் போட்டிருந்தான்.

Now Heber the Kenite, which was of the children of Hobab the father in law of Moses, had severed himself from the Kenites, and pitched his tent unto the plain of Zaanaim, which is by Kedesh.

அபினோகாமின் குமாரன் பாராக் தாபோர் மலையில் ஏறிப்போனான் என்று சிசெராவுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது,

And they shewed Sisera that Barak the son of Abinoam was gone up to mount Tabor.

சிசெரா தொளாயிரம் இருப்புரதங்களாகிய தன்னுடைய எல்லா ரதங்களையும், தன்னோடிருக்கும் எல்லா ஜனங்களையும், புறஜாதிகளின் பட்டணமாகிய அரோசேத்திலிருந்து கீசோன் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே வரவழைத்தான்.

And Sisera gathered together all his chariots, even nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people that were with him, from Harosheth of the Gentiles unto the river of Kishon.

அப்பொழுது தெபொராள் பாராக்கை நோக்கி: எழுந்துபோ; கர்த்தர் சிசெராவை உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கும் நாள் இதுவே; கர்த்தர் உனக்கு முன்பாகப் புறப்படவில்லையா என்றாள்; அப்பொழுது பாராக்கும், அவன் பின்னாலே பதினாயிரம்பேரும், தாபோர் மலையிலிருந்து இறங்கினார்கள்.

And Deborah said unto Barak, Up; for this is the day in which the LORD hath delivered Sisera into thine hand: is not the LORD gone out before thee? So Barak went down from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.

கர்த்தர் சிசெராவையும் அந்த எல்லா ரதங்களையும் சேனையனைத்தையும் பாராக்குக்கு முன்பாகப் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் கலங்கடித்தார்; சிசெரா ரதத்தைவிட்டிறங்கி கால்நடையாய் ஓடிப்போனான்.

And the LORD discomfited Sisera, and all his chariots, and all his host, with the edge of the sword before Barak; so that Sisera lighted down off his chariot, and fled away on his feet.

பாராக் ரதங்களையும் சேனையையும் புறஜாதிகளுடைய அரோசேத்மட்டும் துரத்தினான்; சிசெராவின் சேனையெல்லாம் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் விழுந்தது; ஒருவனும் மீதியாயிருக்கவில்லை.

But Barak pursued after the chariots, and after the host, unto Harosheth of the Gentiles: and all the host of Sisera fell upon the edge of the sword; and there was not a man left.

சிசெரா கால்நடையாய்க் கேனியனான ஏபேரின் மனைவி யாகேலுடைய கூடாரத்திற்கு ஓடிவந்தான்; அப்பொழுது யாபீன் என்னும் ஆத்சோரின் ராஜாவுக்கும், கேனியனான ஏபேரின் வீட்டுக்கும் சமாதானம் உண்டாயிருந்தது.

Howbeit Sisera fled away on his feet to the tent of Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite: for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite.

யாகேல் வெளியே சிசெராவுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோய்: உள்ளே வாரும்; என் ஆண்டவனே, என்னண்டை உள்ளே வாரும், பயப்படாதேயும் என்று அவனோடே சொன்னாள்; அப்படியே அவளண்டை கூடாரத்தில் உள்ளே வந்தபோது, அவனை ஒரு சமுக்காளத்தினாலே மூடினாள்.

And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said unto him, Turn in, my lord, turn in to me; fear not. And when he had turned in unto her into the tent, she covered him with a mantle.

அவன் அவளைப் பார்த்து; குடிக்க எனக்குக் கொஞ்சம் தண்ணீர் தா, தாகமாயிருக்கிறேன் என்றான்; அவள் பால்துருத்தியைத் திறந்து, அவனுக்குக் குடிக்கக்கொடுத்து, திரும்பவும் அவனை மூடினாள்.

And he said unto her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water to drink; for I am thirsty. And she opened a bottle of milk, and gave him drink, and covered him.

அப்பொழுது அவன்: நீ கூடாரவாசலிலே நின்று, யாராவது ஒருவன் வந்து, இங்கே யாராகிலும் இருக்கிறார்களா என்று உன்னிடத்தில் கேட்டால், இல்லை என்று சொல் என்றான்.

Again he said unto her, Stand in the door of the tent, and it shall be, when any man doth come and enquire of thee, and say, Is there any man here? that thou shalt say, No.

பின்பு ஏபேரின் மனைவியாகிய யாகேல் ஒரு கூடார ஆணியை எடுத்து, தன் கையிலே சுத்தியைப் பிடித்துக் கொண்டு, மெள்ள அவனண்டையில் வந்து, அவன் நெறியிலே அந்த ஆணியை அடித்துப்போட்டாள்; அது உருவிப்போய், தரையிலே புதைந்தது; அப்பொழுது ஆயாசமாய்த் தூங்கின அவன் செத்துப்போனான்.

Then Jael Heber's wife took a nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.

பின்பு சிசெராவைத் தொடருகிற பாராக் வந்தான்; அப்பொழுது யாகேல் வெளியே அவனுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோய்: வாரும், நீ தேடுகிற மனுஷனை உமக்குக் காண்பிப்பேன் என்று சொன்னாள்; அவன் அவளிடத்திற்கு வந்தபோது, இதோ, சிசெரா செத்துக்கிடந்தான்; ஆணி அவன் நெறியில் அடித்திருந்தது.

And, behold, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him, and said unto him, Come, and I will shew thee the man whom thou seekest. And when he came into her tent, behold, Sisera lay dead, and the nail was in his temples.

இப்படி தேவன் அந்நாளிலே கானானியரின் ராஜாவாகிய யாபீனை இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு முன்பாகத் தாழ்த்தினார்.

So God subdued on that day Jabin the king of Canaan before the children of Israel.

இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரின் கை கானானியரின் ராஜாவாகிய யாபீனை நிர்மூலமாக்குமட்டும் அவன்மேல் பலத்துக்கொண்டேயிருந்தது.

And the hand of the children of Israel prospered, and prevailed against Jabin the king of Canaan, until they had destroyed Jabin king of Canaan.

நியாயாதிபதிகள் அத்தியாயம் 5

அந்நாளிலே தெபொராளும் அபினோகாமின் குமாரன் பாராக்கும் பாடினதாவது:

Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying,

கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேலுக்காக நீதியைச் சரிக்கட்டினதினிமித்தமும், ஜனங்கள் மனப்பூர்வமாய்த் தங்களை ஒப்புக்கொடுத்ததினிமித்தமும் அவரை ஸ்தோத்திரியுங்கள்.

Praise ye the LORD for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.

ராஜாக்களே, கேளுங்கள்; அதிபதிகளே, செவிகொடுங்கள்; நான் கர்த்தரைப் பாடி, இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரைக் கீர்த்தனம்பண்ணுவேன்.

Hear, O ye kings; give ear, O ye princes; I, even I, will sing unto the LORD; I will sing praise to the LORD God of Israel.

கர்த்தாவே, நீர் சேயீரிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு, ஏதோமின் வெளியிலிருந்து நடந்து வருகையில், பூமி அதிர்ந்தது, வானம் சொரிந்தது, மேகங்களும் தண்ணீராய்ப் பொழிந்தது.

LORD, when thou wentest out of Seir, when thou marchedst out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped, the clouds also dropped water.

கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாகப் பர்வதங்கள் கரைந்தது; இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக சீனாயும் கரைந்தது.

The mountains melted from before the LORD, even that Sinai from before the LORD God of Israel.

ஆனாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய சம்காரின் நாட்களிலும், யாகேலின் நாட்களிலும், பெரும்பாதைகள் பாழாய்க் கிடந்தது; வழி நடக்கிறவர்கள் பக்கவழியாய் நடந்தார்கள்.

In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were unoccupied, and the travellers walked through byways.

தெபொராளாகிய நான் எழும்புமளவும், இஸ்ரவேலிலே நான் தாயாக எழும்புமளவும், கிராமங்கள் பாழாய்ப்போயின, இஸ்ரவேலின் கிராமங்கள் பாழாய்ப்போயின.

The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel.

நூதன தேவர்களைத் தெரிந்து கொண்டார்கள்; அப்பொழுது யுத்தம் வாசல்வரையும் வந்தது; இஸ்ரவேலிலே நாற்பதினாயிரம்பேருக்குள்ளே கேடகமும் ஈட்டியும் காணப்பட்டதுண்டோ?

They chose new gods; then was war in the gates: was there a shield or spear seen among forty thousand in Israel?

ஜனங்களுக்குள்ளே தங்களை மனப்பூர்வமாய் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்த இஸ்ரவேலின் அதிபதிகளை என் இருதயம் நாடுகிறது; கர்த்தரை ஸ்தோத்திரியுங்கள்.

My heart is toward the governors of Israel, that offered themselves willingly among the people. Bless ye the LORD.

வெள்ளைக் கழுதைகளின்மேல் ஏறுகிறவர்களே, நியாயஸ்தலத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கிறவர்களே, வழியில் நடக்கிறவர்களே, இதைப் பிரஸ்தாபியுங்கள்.

Speak, ye that ride on white asses, ye that sit in judgment, and walk by the way.

தண்ணீர் மொண்டுகொள்ளும் இடங்களில் வில்வீரரின் இரைச்சலுக்கு நீங்கினவர்கள் அங்கே கர்த்தரின் நீதிநியாயங்களையும், அவர் இஸ்ரவேலிலுள்ள தமது கிராமங்களுக்குச் செய்த நீதிநியாயங்களையுமே பிரஸ்தாபப்படுத்துவார்கள்; அதுமுதல் கர்த்தரின் ஜனங்கள் ஒலிமுகவாசல்களிலே போய் இறங்குவார்கள்.

They that are delivered from the noise of archers in the places of drawing water, there shall they rehearse the righteous acts of the LORD, even the righteous acts toward the inhabitants of his villages in Israel: then shall the people of the LORD go down to the gates.

விழி, விழி, தெபொராளே, விழி, விழி, பாட்டுப்பாடு; பாராக்கே, எழும்பு; அபினோகாமின் குமாரனே, உன்னைச் சிறையாக்கினவர்களைச் சிறையாக்கிக்கொண்டுபோ.

Awake, awake, Deborah: awake, awake, utter a song: arise, Barak, and lead thy captivity captive, thou son of Abinoam.

மீதியாயிருந்தவர்கள் ஜனத்தின் பிரபுக்களை ஆளும்படி செய்தார்; கர்த்தர் எனக்குப் பராக்கிரமசாலிகளின்மேல் ஆளுகை தந்தார்.

Then he made him that remaineth have dominion over the nobles among the people: the LORD made me have dominion over the mighty.

அமலேக்குக்கு விரோதமாக இவர்களுடைய வேர் எப்பிராயீமிலிருந்து துளிர்த்தது; உன் ஜனங்களுக்குள்ளே பென்யமீன் மனுஷர் உனக்குப் பின்சென்றார்கள்; மாகீரிலிருந்து அதிபதிகளும், செபுலோனிலிருந்து எழுதுகோலைப் பிடிக்கிறவர்களும் இறங்கிவந்தார்கள்.

Out of Ephraim was there a root of them against Amalek; after thee, Benjamin, among thy people; out of Machir came down governors, and out of Zebulun they that handle the pen of the writer.

இசக்காரின் பிரபுக்களும் தெபொராளோடே இருந்தார்கள்; பாராக்கைப்போல இசக்கார் மனுஷரும் பள்ளத்தாக்கில் கால்நடையாய் அனுப்பப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள்; ரூபனின் பிரிவினைகளால் உண்டான இருதயத்தின் நினைவுகள் மிகுதி.

And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah; even Issachar, and also Barak: he was sent on foot into the valley. For the divisions of Reuben there were great thoughts of heart.

மந்தைகளின் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்க, நீ தொழுவங்களின் நடுவே இருந்துவிட்டதென்ன? ரூபனின் பிரிவினைகளால் மனோவிசாரங்கள் மிகுதி.

Why abodest thou among the sheepfolds, to hear the bleatings of the flocks? For the divisions of Reuben there were great searchings of heart.

கீலேயாத் மனுஷர் யோர்தானுக்கு அக்கரையிலே இருந்துவிட்டார்கள்; தாண் மனுஷர் கப்பல்களில் தங்கியிருந்ததென்ன? ஆசேர் மனுஷர் கடற்கரையிலே தங்கி, தங்கள் குடாக்களில் தாபரித்தார்கள்.

Gilead abode beyond Jordan: and why did Dan remain in ships? Asher continued on the sea shore, and abode in his breaches.

செபுலோனும் நப்தலியும் போர்க்களத்து முனையிலே தங்கள் உயிரை எண்ணாமல் மரணத்துக்குத் துணிந்து நின்றார்கள்.

Zebulun and Naphtali were a people that jeoparded their lives unto the death in the high places of the field.

ராஜாக்கள் வந்து யுத்தம்பண்ணினார்கள்; அப்பொழுது கானானியரின் ராஜாக்கள் மெகிதோவின் தண்ணீர் அருகான தானாக்கிலே யுத்தம்பண்ணினார்கள்; அவர்களுக்குத் திரவியக்கொள்ளை கிடைக்கவில்லை.

The kings came and fought, then fought the kings of Canaan in Taanach by the waters of Megiddo; they took no gain of money.

வானத்திலிருந்து யுத்தம் உண்டாயிற்று; நட்சத்திரங்கள் தங்கள் அயனங்களிலிருந்து சிசெராவோடே யுத்தம்பண்ணின.

They fought from heaven; the stars in their courses fought against Sisera.

கீசோன் நதி, பூர்வ நதியாகிய கீசோன் நதியே, அவர்களை அடித்துக்கொண்டு போயிற்று; என் ஆத்துமாவே, நீ பலவான்களை மிதித்தாய்.

The river of Kishon swept them away, that ancient river, the river Kishon. O my soul, thou hast trodden down strength.

அப்பொழுது குதிரைகளின் குளம்புகள், பாய்ச்சலினாலே, பலவான்களின் பாய்ச்சலினாலேயே, பிளந்துபோயின.

Then were the horsehoofs broken by the means of the pransings, the pransings of their mighty ones.

மேரோசைச் சபியுங்கள்; அதின் குடிகளைச் சபிக்கவே சபியுங்கள் என்று கர்த்தருடைய தூதனானவர் சொல்லுகிறார்; அவர்கள் கர்த்தர் பட்சத்தில் துணை நிற்க வரவில்லை; பராக்கிரமசாலிகளுக்கு விரோதமாய் அவர்கள் கர்த்தர் பட்சத்தில் துணைநிற்க வரவில்லையே.

Curse ye Meroz, said the angel of the LORD, curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof; because they came not to the help of the LORD, to the help of the LORD against the mighty.

ஸ்திரீகளுக்குள்ளே கேனியனான ஏபேரின் மனைவியாகிய யாகேல் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்ட்டவள்; கூடாரத்தில் வாசமாயிருக்கிற ஸ்திரீகளுக்குள்ளே அவள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவளே.

Blessed above women shall Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite be, blessed shall she be above women in the tent.

தண்ணீரைக் கேட்டான், பாலைக் கொடுத்தாள்; ராஜாக்களின் கிண்ணியிலே வெண்ணெயைக் கொண்டுவந்து கொடுத்தாள்.

He asked water, and she gave him milk; she brought forth butter in a lordly dish.

தன் கையால் ஆணியையும், தன் வலது கையால் தொழிலாளரின் சுத்தியையும் பிடித்து, சிசெராவை அடித்தாள்; அவன் நெறியில் உருவக்கடாவி, அவன் தலையை உடைத்துப்போட்டாள்.

She put her hand to the nail, and her right hand to the workmen's hammer; and with the hammer she smote Sisera, she smote off his head, when she had pierced and stricken through his temples.

அவள் கால் அருகே அவன் மடங்கி விழுந்துகிடந்தான், அவள் கால் அருகே மடங்கி விழுந்தான்; அவன் எங்கே மடங்கி விழுந்தானோ அங்கே மடிந்துகிடந்தான்.

At her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay down: at her feet he bowed, he fell: where he bowed, there he fell down dead.

சிசெராவின் தாய் ஜன்னலில் நின்று பலகணி வழியாய்ப் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்து: அவனுடைய இரதம் வராமல் பிந்திப்போனதென்ன? அவனுடைய இரதங்களின் ஓட்டம் தாமதிக்கிறதென்ன என்று புலம்பினாள்.

The mother of Sisera looked out at a window, and cried through the lattice, Why is his chariot so long in coming? why tarry the wheels of his chariots?

அவளுடைய நாயகிகளில் புத்திசாலிகள் அவளுக்கு உத்தரவு சொன்னதுமின்றி, அவள் தானும் தனக்கு மறுமொழியாக:

Her wise ladies answered her, yea, she returned answer to herself,

அவர்கள் கொள்ளையைக் கண்டுபிடிக்கவில்லையோ, அதைப் பங்கிடவேண்டாமோ, ஆளுக்கு இரண்டொரு பெண்களையும், சிசெராவுக்குக் கொள்ளையிட்ட பலவருணமான ஆடைகளையும், கொள்ளையிட்ட பலவருணமான சித்திரத் தையலாடைகளையும், கொள்ளையிட்டவர்களின் கழுத்துக்கு இருபுறமும் பொருந்தும் சித்திரத்தையலுள்ள பலவருணமான ஆடையையும் கொடுக்கவேண்டாமோ என்றாள்.

Have they not sped? have they not divided the prey; to every man a damsel or two; to Sisera a prey of divers colours, a prey of divers colours of needlework, of divers colours of needlework on both sides, meet for the necks of them that take the spoil?

கர்த்தாவே, உம்மைப் பகைக்கிற யாவரும் இப்படியே அழியக்கடவர்கள்; அவரில் அன்புகூருகிறவர்களோ, வல்லமையோடே உதிக்கிற சூரியனைப்போல இருக்கக்கடவர்கள் என்று பாடினார்கள். பின்பு தேசம் நாற்பது வருஷம் அமைதலாயிருந்தது.

So let all thine enemies perish, O LORD: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.

Then came he to Derbe and Lystra: and, behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timotheus, the son of a certain woman, which was a Jewess, and believed; but his father was a Greek:

அவன் லீஸ்திராவிலும் இக்கோனியாவிலுமுள்ள சகோதரராலே நற்சாட்சி பெற்றவனாயிருந்தான்.

Which was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium.

அவனைப் பவுல் தன்னுடனே கூட்டிக்கொண்டு போகவேண்டுமென்று விரும்பி, அவனுடைய தகப்பன் கிரேக்கன் என்று அவ்விடங்களிலிருக்கும் யூதர்களெல்லாரும் அறிந்திருந்தபடியால், அவர்கள்நிமித்தம் அவனுக்கு விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணினான்.

Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him because of the Jews which were in those quarters: for they knew all that his father was a Greek.

அவர்கள் பட்டணங்கள்தோறும் போகையில், எருசலேமிலிருக்கும் அப்போஸ்தலராலும் மூப்பராலும் விதிக்கப்பட்ட சட்டங்களைக் கைக்கொள்ளும்படி அவர்களுக்கு ஒப்புவித்தார்கள்.

And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem.

அதினாலே சபைகள் விசுவாசத்தில் ஸ்திரப்பட்டு, நாளுக்குநாள் பெருகின.

And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.

அவர்கள் பிரிகியா கலாத்தியா நாடுகளைக் கடந்துபோனபோது, ஆசியாவிலே வசனத்தைச் சொல்லாதபடிக்குப் பரிசுத்த ஆவியினாலே தடைபண்ணப்பட்டு,

Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,

மீசியா தேசமட்டும் வந்து, பித்தினியா நாட்டுக்குப் போகப் பிரயத்தனம்பண்ணினார்கள்; ஆவியானவரோ அவர்களைப் போகவொட்டாதிருந்தார்.

After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.

அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் மீசியா பக்கமாய்ப் போய், துரோவாவுக்கு வந்தார்கள்.

And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas.

அங்கே இராத்திரியிலே பவுலுக்கு ஒரு தரிசனம் உண்டாயிற்று; அதென்னவெனில், மக்கெதோனியா தேசத்தான் ஒருவன் வந்துநின்று: நீர் மக்கெதோனியாவுக்கு வந்து எங்களுக்கு உதவிசெய்யவேண்டுமென்று தன்னை வேண்டிக்கொண்டதாக இருந்தது.

And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.

அந்தத் தரிசனத்தை அவன் கண்டபோது, அவர்களுக்குச் சுவிசேஷத்தை அறிவிக்கும்படி கர்த்தர் எங்களை அழைத்தாரென்று நாங்கள் நிச்சயித்துக்கொண்டு, உடனே மக்கெதோனியாவுக்குப் புறப்பட்டுப்போகப் பிரயத்தனம்பண்ணி,

And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.

துரோவாவில் கப்பல் ஏறி, சாமோத்திராக்கே தீவுக்கும், மறுநாளிலே நெயாப்போலி பட்டணத்துக்கும் நேராய் ஓடி,

Therefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next day to Neapolis;

அங்கேயிருந்து மக்கெதோனியா தேசத்து நாடுகளில் ஒன்றிற்குத் தலைமையானதும் ரோமர் குடியேறினதுமான பிலிப்பி பட்டணத்துக்கு வந்து, அந்தப் பட்டணத்திலே சிலநாள் தங்கியிருந்தோம்.

And from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in that city abiding certain days.

ஓய்வுநாளில் நாங்கள் பட்டணத்துக்கு வெளியே போய், ஆற்றினருகே வழக்கமாய் ஜெபம்பண்ணுகிற இடத்தில் உட்கார்ந்து, அங்கே கூடிவந்த ஸ்திரீகளுக்கு உபதேசித்தோம்.

And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.

அப்பொழுது தியத்தீரா ஊராளும் இரத்தாம்பரம் விற்கிறவளும் தேவனை வணங்குகிறவளுமாகிய லீதியாள் என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒரு ஸ்திரீ கேட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தாள்; பவுல் சொல்லியவைகளைக் கவனிக்கும்படி கர்த்தர் அவள் இருதயத்தைத் திறந்தருளினார்.

And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.

அவளும் அவள் வீட்டாரும் ஞானஸ்நானம் பெற்றபின்பு, அவள் எங்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் என்னைக் கர்த்தரிடத்தில் விசுவாசமுள்ளவளென்று எண்ணினால், என் வீட்டிலே வந்து தங்கியிருங்கள் என்று எங்களை வருந்திக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டாள்.

And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us.

நாங்கள் ஜெபம்பண்ணுகிற இடத்துக்குப் போகையில் குறிசொல்ல ஏவுகிற ஆவியைக்கொண்டிருந்து, குறிசொல்லுகிறதினால் தன் எஜமான்களுக்கு மிகுந்த ஆதாயத்தை உண்டாக்கின ஒரு பெண் எங்களுக்கு எதிர்ப்பட்டாள்.

And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:

அவள் பவுலையும் எங்களையும் பின்தொடர்ந்து வந்து: இந்த மனுஷர் உன்னதமான தேவனுடைய ஊழியக்காரர், இரட்சிப்பின் வழியை நமக்கு அறிவிக்கிறவர்கள் என்று சத்தமிட்டாள்.

The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.

இப்படி அநேகநாள் செய்து கொண்டுவந்தாள். பவுல் சினங்கொண்டு, திரும்பிப்பார்த்து: நீ இவளை விட்டுப் புறப்படும்படி இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவின் நாமத்தினாலே உனக்குக் கட்டளையிடுகிறேன் என்று அந்த ஆவியுடனே சொன்னான்; அந்நேரமே அது புறப்பட்டுப்போயிற்று.

And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

அவளுடைய எஜமான்கள் தங்கள் ஆதாயத்து நம்பிக்கை அற்றுப்போயிற்றென்று கண்டு, பவுலையும் சீலாவையும் பிடித்து, சந்தைவெளியிலுள்ள அதிகாரிகளிடத்தில் இழுத்துக்கொண்டுபோனார்கள்.

And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers,

அவர்களை அதிகாரிகளிடத்தில் ஒப்புவித்து: யூதர்களாகிய இந்த மனுஷர் நம்முடைய பட்டணத்தில் கலகம்பண்ணி,

And brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city,

ரோமராகிய நாம் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளவும் அநுசரிக்கவும்தகாத முறைமைகளைப் போதிக்கிறார்கள் என்றார்கள்.

And teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans.

அப்பொழுது ஜனங்கள் கூட்டங்கூடி, அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாய் எழும்பினார்கள். அதிகாரிகள் அவர்கள் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்துப்போடவும், அவர்களை அடிக்கவும் சொல்லி;

And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them.

அவர்களை அநேக அடி அடித்தபின்பு, சிறைச்சாலையிலே வைத்து அவர்களைப் பத்திரமாய்க் காக்கும்படி சிறைச்சாலைக்காரனுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டார்கள்.

And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:

அவன் இப்படிப்பட்ட கட்டளையைப் பெற்று, அவர்களை உட்காவலறையிலே அடைத்து, அவர்கள் கால்களைத் தொழுமரத்தில் மாட்டிவைத்தான்.

Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.

நடுராத்திரியிலே பவுலும் சீலாவும் ஜெபம்பண்ணி, தேவனைத் துதித்துப்பாடினார்கள்; காவலில் வைக்கப்பட்டவர்கள் அதைக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

சடிதியிலே சிறைச்சாலையின் அஸ்திபாரங்கள் அசையும்படியாக பூமி மிகவும் அதிர்ந்தது; உடனே கதவுகளெல்லாம் திறவுண்டது; எல்லாருடைய கட்டுகளும் கழன்றுபோயிற்று.

And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.

சிறைச்சாலைக்காரன் நித்திரைதெளிந்து, சிறைச்சாலையின் கதவுகள் திறந்திருக்கிறதைக்கண்டு, கட்டுண்டவர்கள் ஓடிப்போனார்களென்று எண்ணி, பட்டயத்தை உருவித் தன்னைக் கொலைசெய்து கொள்ளப்போனான்.

And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.

பவுல் மிகுந்த சத்தமிட்டு: நீ உனக்குக் கெடுதி ஒன்றுஞ்செய்துகொள்ளாதே; நாங்கள் எல்லாரும் இங்கேதான் இருக்கிறோம் என்றான்.

But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.

அப்பொழுது அவன் தீபங்களைக் கொண்டுவரச்சொல்லி, உள்ளே ஓடி, நடுநடுங்கி, பவுலுக்கும் சீலாவுக்கும் முன்பாக விழுந்து,

Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,

அவர்களை வெளியே அழைத்துவந்து: ஆண்டவமாரே, இரட்சிக்கப்படுவதற்கு நான் என்ன செய்யவேண்டும் என்றான்.

And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

அதற்கு அவர்கள்: கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவை விசுவாசி, அப்பொழுது நீயும் உன் வீட்டாரும் இரட்சிக்கப்படுவீர்கள் என்று சொல்லி,

And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

அவனுக்கும் அவன் வீட்டிலிருந்த யாவருக்கும் கர்த்தருடைய வசனத்தைப் போதித்தார்கள்.

And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.

மேலும் இராத்திரியில் அந்நேரத்திலேதானே அவன் அவர்களை அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், அவர்களுடைய காயங்களைக் கழுவினான். அவனும் அவனுடையவர்கள் அனைவரும் உடனே ஞானஸ்நானம் பெற்றார்கள்.

And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.

பின்பு அவன் அவர்களைத் தன் வீட்டிற்குக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய், அவர்களுக்கு போஜனங்கொடுத்து, தன் வீட்டார் அனைவரோடுங்கூட தேவனிடத்தில் விசுவாசமுள்ளவனாகி மனமகிழ்ச்சியாயிருந்தான்.

And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

பொழுது விடிந்தபின்பு: அந்த மனுஷரை விட்டுவிடுங்கள் என்று சொல்ல அதிகாரிகள் சேவகர்களை அனுப்பினார்கள்.

And when it was day, the magistrates sent the serjeants, saying, Let those men go.

சிறைச்சாலைக்காரன் பவுலுக்கு இந்த வார்த்தைகளை அறிவித்து: உங்களை விடுதலையாக்கும்படிக்கு அதிகாரிகள் கட்டளை அனுப்பினார்கள்; ஆகையால் நீங்கள் இப்பொழுது புறப்பட்டுச் சமாதானத்துடனே போங்கள் என்றான்.

And the keeper of the prison told this saying to Paul, The magistrates have sent to let you go: now therefore depart, and go in peace.

அதற்குப் பவுல்: ரோமராகிய எங்களை அவர்கள் நியாயம்விசாரியாமல், வெளியரங்கமாய் அடித்து, சிறைச்சாலையிலே போட்டார்கள்; இப்பொழுது இரகசியமாய் எங்களை விடுதலையாக்குகிறார்களோ? அப்படியல்ல, அவர்களே வந்து, எங்களை வெளியே அழைத்து அனுப்பிவிடட்டும் என்றான்.

But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast us into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out.

சேவகர் இந்த வார்த்தைகளை அதிகாரிகளுக்கு அறிவித்தார்கள். ரோமராயிருக்கிறார்களென்று அவர்கள் கேட்டபொழுது பயந்துவந்து,

And the serjeants told these words unto the magistrates: and they feared, when they heard that they were Romans.

அவர்களுடனே தயவாய்ப் பேசி, அவர்களை வெளியே அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், பட்டணத்தை விட்டுப் புறப்பட்டுப்போகும்படி கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்கள்.

And they came and besought them, and brought them out, and desired them to depart out of the city.

அந்தப்படி அவர்கள் சிறைச்சாலையிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு லீதியாளிடத்திற்குப்போய், சகோதரரைக் கண்டு, அவர்களுக்கு ஆறுதல் சொல்லிப் போய்விட்டார்கள்.

And they went out of the prison, and entered into the house of Lydia: and when they had seen the brethren, they comforted them, and departed.
