நியாயாதிபதிகள் அத்தியாயம் 1

யோசுவா மரித்தபின் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தரை நோக்கி: கானானியரை எதிர்த்து யுத்தம்பண்ணும்படி, எங்களில் யார் முதல்முதல் எழுந்து புறப்படவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டார்கள்.

Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass, that the children of Israel asked the LORD, saying, Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them?

அதற்குக் கர்த்தர்: யூதா எழுந்து புறப்படக்கடவன்; இதோ, அந்த தேசத்தை அவன் கையிலே ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தேன் என்றார்.

And the LORD said, Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.

அப்பொழுது யூதா தன் சகோதரனாகிய சிமியோனை நோக்கி: நாம் கானானியரோடே யுத்தம்பண்ண நீ என் சுதந்தரப் பங்குவீதத்தில் என்னோடேகூட எழுந்துவா; உன் சுதந்தரப் பங்கு வீதத்தில் நானும் உன்னோடுகூட வருவேன் என்றான்; அப்படியே சிமியோன் அவனோடேகூடப் போனான்.

And Judah said unto Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with thee into thy lot. So Simeon went with him.

யூதா எழுந்துபோனபோது, கர்த்தர் கானானியரையும், பெரிசியரையும் அவர்கள் கையிலே ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; அவர்கள் பேசேக்கிலே பதினாயிரம்பேரை வெட்டினார்கள்.

And Judah went up; and the LORD delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand: and they slew of them in Bezek ten thousand men.

பேசேக்கிலே அதோனிபேசேக்கைக் கண்டு, அவனோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணி, கானானியரையும், பெரிசியரையும் வெட்டினார்கள்.

And they found Adonibezek in Bezek: and they fought against him, and they slew the Canaanites and the Perizzites.

அதோனிபேசேக் ஓடிப்போகையில், அவனைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து பிடித்து, அவன் கை கால்களின் பெருவிரல்களைத் தறித்துப்போட்டார்கள்.

But Adonibezek fled; and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.

And Adonibezek said, Threescore and ten kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered their meat under my table: as I have done, so God hath requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died.

யூதாவின் புத்திரர் எருசலேமின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ணி, அதைப் பிடித்து, அதிலுள்ளவர்களைப் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் வெட்டி, பட்டணத்தை அக்கினிக்கு இரையாக்கிவிட்டார்கள்.

Now the children of Judah had fought against Jerusalem, and had taken it, and smitten it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on fire.

பின்பு யூதாவின் புத்திரர் மலைத்தேசத்திலேயும், தெற்கேயும், பள்ளத்தாக்குகளிலேயும் குடியிருக்கிற கானானியரோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணப் புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள்.

And afterward the children of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites, that dwelt in the mountain, and in the south, and in the valley.

அப்படியே யூதா கோத்திரத்தார் எபிரோனிலே குடியிருக்கிற கானானியருக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் போய், சேசாய், அகீமான், தல்மாய் என்பவர்களை வெட்டிப்போட்டார்கள். முற்காலத்தில் அந்த எபிரோனுக்கு கீரியாத்அர்பா என்று பேர்.

And Judah went against the Canaanites that dwelt in Hebron: (now the name of Hebron before was Kirjatharba:) and they slew Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.

அங்கேயிருந்து தெபீரின் குடிகளுக்கு விரோதமாகப் போனார்கள்; முற்காலத்தில் தெபீருக்கு கீரியாத்செப்பேர் என்று பேர்.

And from thence he went against the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before was Kirjathsepher:

அப்பொழுது காலேப்: கீரியாத்செப்பேரை சங்காரம்பண்ணிப் பிடிக்கிறவனுக்கு என் குமாரத்தியாகிய அக்சாளை விவாகம்பண்ணிக் கொடுப்பேன் என்றான்.

And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjathsepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife.

அப்பொழுது காலேபுடைய தம்பியாகிய கேனாசின் குமாரன் ஒத்னியேல் அதைப் பிடித்தான்; ஆகையால் தன் குமாரத்தியாகிய அக்சாளை அவனுக்கு விவாகம்பண்ணிக் கொடுத்தான்.

And Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife.

அவள் புறப்படுகையில், என் தகப்பனிடத்தில் ஒரு வயல்வெளியைக் கேட்கவேண்டும் என்று அவனிடத்தில் உத்தரவு பெற்றுக்கொண்டு, கழுதையின்மேலிருந்து இறங்கினாள். காலேப் அவளை நோக்கி: உனக்கு என்னவேண்டும் என்றான்.

And it came to pass, when she came to him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted from off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wilt thou?

அப்பொழுது அவள்: எனக்கு ஒரு ஆசீர்வாதம் தரவேண்டும்; வறட்சியான நிலத்தை எனக்குத் தந்தீர்; நீர்ப்பாய்ச்சலான நிலங்களையும் எனக்குத் தரவேண்டும் என்றாள்; அப்பொழுது காலேப்: மேற்புறத்திலும் கீழ்ப்புறத்திலும் அவளுக்கு நீர்ப்பாய்ச்சலான நிலங்களைக் கொடுத்தான்.

And she said unto him, Give me a blessing: for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the nether springs.

மோசேயின் மாமனாகிய கேனியனின் புத்திரரும் யூதாவின் புத்திரரோடேகூடப் பேரீச்சம்மரங்களின் பட்டணத்திலிருந்து ஆராத்திற்குத் தெற்கேயிருக்கிற யூதாவின் வனாந்தரத்திற்கு வந்து, ஜனங்களோடே குடியேறினார்கள்.

And the children of the Kenite, Moses' father in law, went up out of the city of palm trees with the children of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which lieth in the south of Arad; and they went and dwelt among the people.

யூதா தன் சகோதரனாகிய சிமியோனோடுங்கூடப் போனான்; அவர்கள் சேப்பாத்தில் குடியிருக்கிற கானானியரை முறிய அடித்து, அதைச் சங்காரம்பண்ணி, அந்தப் பட்டணத்திற்கு ஒர்மா என்று பேரிட்டார்கள்.

And Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they slew the Canaanites that inhabited Zephath, and utterly destroyed it. And the name of the city was called Hormah.

யூதா காசாவையும் அதின் எல்லையையும், அஸ்கலோனையும் அதின் எல்லையையும், எக்ரோனையும் அதின் எல்லையையும் பிடித்தான்.

Also Judah took Gaza with the coast thereof, and Askelon with the coast thereof, and Ekron with the coast thereof.

கர்த்தர் யூதாவோடேகூட இருந்ததினால், மலைத்தேசத்தாரைத் துரத்திவிட்டார்கள்; பள்ளத்தாக்கின் குடிகளுக்கு இருப்பு ரதங்கள் இருந்தபடியினால், அவர்களைத் துரத்தக்கூடாமற்போயிற்று.

And the LORD was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.

மோசே சொன்னபடியே, எபிரோனைக் காலேபுக்குக் கொடுத்தார்கள்; அவன் அதிலிருந்த ஏனாக்கின் மூன்று குமாரரையும் துரத்திவிட்டான்.

And they gave Hebron unto Caleb, as Moses said: and he expelled thence the three sons of Anak.

பென்யமீன் புத்திரர் எருசலேமிலே குடியிருந்த எபூசியரையும் துரத்திவிடவில்லை; ஆகையால் எபூசியர் இந்நாள் மட்டும் பென்யமீன் புத்திரரோடேகூட எருசலேமில் குடியிருக்கிறார்கள்.

And the children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem unto this day.

யோசேப்பின் குடும்பத்தாரும் பெத்தேலுக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் போனார்கள்; கர்த்தர் அவர்களோடேகூட இருந்தார்.

And the house of Joseph, they also went up against Bethel: and the LORD was with them.

யோசேப்பின் புத்திரர் பெத்தேலை வேவுபார்க்க ஆட்களை அனுப்பினார்கள்; முன்னே அந்தப் பட்டணத்திற்கு லூஸ் என்று பேர்.

And the house of Joseph sent to descry Bethel. (Now the name of the city before was Luz.)

அந்த வேவுகாரர் பட்டணத்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்டுவருகிற ஒரு மனுஷனைக் கண்டு: பட்டணத்திற்குள் பிரவேசிக்கும் வழியை எங்களுக்குக் காண்பி, உனக்குத் தயைசெய்வோம் என்றார்கள்.

And the spies saw a man come forth out of the city, and they said unto him, Shew us, we pray thee, the entrance into the city, and we will shew thee mercy.

அப்படியே பட்டணத்திற்குள் பிரவேசிக்கும் வழியை அவர்களுக்குக் காண்பித்தான்; அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் வந்து, பட்டணத்திலுள்ளவர்களைப் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் வெட்டி, அந்த மனுஷனையும் அவன் குடும்பத்தையும் விட்டுவிட்டார்கள்.

And when he shewed them the entrance into the city, they smote the city with the edge of the sword; but they let go the man and all his family.

அப்பொழுது அந்த மனுஷன் ஏத்தியரின் தேசத்திற்குப் போய், ஒரு பட்டணத்தைக் கட்டி, அதற்கு லூஸ் என்று பேரிட்டான்; அதுதான் இந்நாள்மட்டும் அதின் பேர்.

And the man went into the land of the Hittites, and built a city, and called the name thereof Luz: which is the name thereof unto this day.

மனாசே கோத்திரத்தார் பெத்செயான் பட்டணத்தாரையும் அதற்கு அடுத்த ஊர்களின் மனுஷரையும், தானாக் பட்டணத்தாரையும் அதற்கு அடுத்த ஊர்களின் மனுஷரையும், தோரின் குடிகளையும் அதற்கு அடுத்த ஊர்களின் மனுஷரையும், இப்லெயாம் பட்டணத்தாரையும் அதற்கு அடுத்த ஊர்களின் மனுஷரையும், மெகிதோவின் குடிகளையும் அதற்கு அடுத்த ஊர்களின் மனுஷரையும் துரத்திவிடவில்லை; கானானியர் அந்த தேசத்திலேதானே குடியிருக்கவேண்டும் என்று இருந்தார்கள்.

Neither did Manasseh drive out the inhabitants of Bethshean and her towns, nor Taanach and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns: but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.

இஸ்ரவேலர் பலத்தபோது, கானானியரை முற்றிலும் துரத்திவிடாமல் பகுதி கட்டப்பண்ணினார்கள்.

And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, and did not utterly drive them out.

எப்பிராயீம் கோத்திரத்தார் கேசேரிலே குடியிருந்த கானானியரையும் துரத்திவிடவில்லை; ஆகையால் கானானியர் அவர்கள் நடுவே குடியிருந்தார்கள்.

Neither did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.

செபுலோன் கோத்திரத்தார் கித்ரோனின் குடிகளையும், நாகலோலின் குடிகளையும் துரத்திவிடவில்லை, ஆகையால் கானானியர் அவர்கள் நடுவே குடியிருந்து, பகுதிகட்டுகிறவர்களானார்கள்.

Neither did Zebulun drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became tributaries.

ஆசேர் கோத்திரத்தார் அக்கோவின் குடிகளையும், சீதோனின் குடிகளையும், அக்லாப், அக்சீப், எல்பா, ஆப்பீக், ரேகோப் பட்டணங்களின் குடிகளையும் துரத்திவிடவில்லை.

Neither did Asher drive out the inhabitants of Accho, nor the inhabitants of Zidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob:

ஆசேரியர் தேசத்தின் குடிகளாகிய கானானியரின் நடுவே குடியிருந்தார்கள்; அவர்களை அவர்கள் துரத்திவிடவில்லை.

But the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: for they did not drive them out.

நப்தலி கோத்திரத்தார் பெத்ஷிமேசின் குடிகளையும் பெத்தானாத்தின் குடிகளையும் துரத்திவிடாமல், தேசத்தின் குடிகளாகிய கானானியரின் நடுவே குடியிருந்தார்கள்; பெத்ஷிமேஸ், பெத்தானாத் பட்டணங்களின் குடிகள் அவர்களுக்குப் பகுதிகட்டுகிறவர்களானார்கள்.

Neither did Naphtali drive out the inhabitants of Bethshemesh, nor the inhabitants of Bethanath; but he dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: nevertheless the inhabitants of Bethshemesh and of Bethanath became tributaries unto them.

எமோரியர் தாண் புத்திரரைப் பள்ளத்தாக்கில் இறங்கவொட்டாமல், மலைத்தேசத்திற்குப் போகும்படி நெருக்கினார்கள்.

And the Amorites forced the children of Dan into the mountain: for they would not suffer them to come down to the valley:

எமோரியர் ஏரேஸ் மலைகளிலும் ஆயலோனிலும் சால்பீமிலும் குடியிருக்கவேண்டும் என்று இருந்தார்கள்; ஆனாலும் யோசேப்பின் குடும்பத்தாரின் கைபலத்தபடியினால், அவர்களுக்குப் பகுதிகட்டுகிறவர்களானார்கள்.

But the Amorites would dwell in mount Heres in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim: yet the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became tributaries.

எமோரியரின் எல்லை அக்கராபீமுக்குப் போகிற மேடுதொடங்கி அதற்கு அப்புறமும் போயிற்று.

And the coast of the Amorites was from the going up to Akrabbim, from the rock, and upward.

கர்த்தருடைய தூதனானவர் கில்காலிலிருந்து போகீமுக்கு வந்து: நான் உங்களை எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணி, உங்கள் பிதாக்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்ட தேசத்தில் நான் உங்களைக் கொண்டுவந்து விட்டு, உங்களோடே பண்ணின என் உடன்படிக்கையை நான் ஒருக்காலும் முறித்துப்போடுவதில்லை என்றும்,

And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you.

நீங்கள் இந்த தேசத்தின் குடிகளோடே உடன்படிக்கைபண்ணாமல், அவர்கள் பலிபீடங்களை இடித்துவிடக்கடவீர்கள் என்றும் சொன்னேன்; ஆனாலும் என் சொல்லைக் கேளாதேபோனீர்கள்; ஏன் இப்படிச் செய்தீர்கள்?

And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this?

ஆகையால் நான் அவர்களை உங்கள் முகத்திற்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்துவதில்லை என்றேன்; அவர்கள் உங்களை நெருக்குவார்கள்; அவர்களுடைய தேவர்கள் உங்களுக்குக் கண்ணியாவார்கள் என்றார்.

Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.

கர்த்தருடைய தூதனானவர் இந்த வார்த்தைகளை இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் எல்லாரோடும் சொல்லுகையில், ஜனங்கள் உரத்த சத்தமிட்டு அழுதார்கள்.

And it came to pass, when the angel of the LORD spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.

அவ்விடத்திற்குப் போகீம் என்று பேரிட்டு, அங்கே கர்த்தருக்குப் பலியிட்டார்கள்.

And they called the name of that place Bochim: and they sacrificed there unto the LORD.

யோசுவா இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரராகிய ஜனங்களை அனுப்பிவிட்டபோது, அவர்கள் தேசத்தைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ள அவரவர் தங்கள்தங்கள் சுதந்தர வீதத்திற்குப் போனார்கள்.

And when Joshua had let the people go, the children of Israel went every man unto his inheritance to possess the land.

யோசுவாவின் சகல நாட்களிலும் கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேலுக்காகச் செய்த அவருடைய பெரிய கிரியைகளையெல்லாம் கண்டவர்களும், யோசுவாவுக்குப் பின்பு உயிரோடிருந்தவர்களுமாகிய மூப்பரின் சகல நாட்களிலும் ஜனங்கள் கர்த்தரைச் சேவித்தார்கள்.

And the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the LORD, that he did for Israel.

நூனின் குமாரனாகிய யோசுவா என்னும் கர்த்தரின் ஊழியக்காரன் நூற்றுப்பத்து வயதுள்ளவனாய் மரணமடைந்தான்.

And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years old.

அவனை எப்பிராயீமின் மலைத்தேசத்திலுள்ள காயாஸ் மலைக்கு வடக்கேயிருக்கிற அவனுடைய சுதந்தரத்தின் எல்லையாகிய திம்னாத்ஏரேசிலே அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnathheres, in the mount of Ephraim, on the north side of the hill Gaash.

அக்காலத்தில் இருந்த அந்தச் சந்ததியார் எல்லாரும் தங்கள் பிதாக்களுடன் சேர்க்கப்பட்டபின்பு, கர்த்தரையும், அவர் இஸ்ரவேலுக்காகச் செய்த கிரியையையும் அறியாத வேறொரு சந்ததி அவர்களுக்குப்பின் எழும்பிற்று.

And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்து, பாகால்களைச் சேவித்து,

And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim:

தங்கள் பிதாக்களை எகிப்துதேசத்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணின அவர்களுடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை விட்டு, தங்களைச் சுற்றிலும் இருக்கிற ஜனங்களுடைய தேவர்களாகிய அந்நிய தேவர்களைப் பின்பற்றிப்போய், அவர்களைப் பணிந்துகொண்டு, கர்த்தருக்குக் கோபமூட்டினார்கள்.

And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger.

அவர்கள் கர்த்தரை விட்டு, பாகாலையும் அஸ்தரோத்தையும் சேவித்தார்கள்.

And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேலின் மேல் கோபமூண்டவராகி, அவர்கள் அப்புறம் தங்கள் சத்துருக்களுக்கு முன்பாக நிற்கக்கூடாதபடி கொள்ளையிடுகிற கொள்ளைக்காரர் கையில் அவர்களை ஒப்புக்கொடுத்து, அவர்களைச் சுற்றிலும் இருக்கிற அவர்கள் பகைஞரின் கையிலே விற்றுப்போட்டார்.

And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.

கர்த்தர் சொல்லியபடியும், கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டிருந்தபடியும், அவர்கள் புறப்பட்டுப்போகிற இடமெல்லாம் கர்த்தருடைய கை தீமைக்கென்றே அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாயிருந்தது; மிகவும் நெருக்கப்பட்டார்கள்.

Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had said, and as the LORD had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed.

கர்த்தர் நியாயாதிபதிகளை எழும்பப்பண்ணினார்; அவர்கள் கொள்ளையிடுகிறவர்களின் கைக்கு அவர்களை நீங்கலாக்கி இரட்சித்தார்கள்.

Nevertheless the LORD raised up judges, which delivered them out of the hand of those that spoiled them.

அவர்கள் தங்கள் நியாயாதிபதிகளின் சொல்லைக் கேளாமல், அந்நிய தேவர்களைப் பின்பற்றிச் சோரம்போய், அவைகளைப் பணிந்துகொண்டார்கள்; தங்கள் பிதாக்கள் கர்த்தரின் கற்பனைகளுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்து நடந்த வழியை அவர்கள் சீக்கிரமாய் விட்டு விலகி, அவர்கள் செய்தபடி செய்யாமற்போனார்கள்.

And yet they would not hearken unto their judges, but they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves unto them: they turned quickly out of the way which their fathers walked in, obeying the commandments of the LORD; but they did not so.

கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்கு நியாயாதிபதிகளை எழும்பப்பண்ணுகிறபோது, கர்த்தர் நியாயாதிபதியோடேகூட இருந்து அந்த நியாயாதிபதியின் நாட்களிலெல்லாம் அவர்கள் சத்துருக்களின் கைக்கு அவர்களை நீங்கலாக்கி இரட்சித்துவருவார்; அவர்கள் தங்களை இறுகப்பிடித்து ஒடுக்குகிறவர்களினிமித்தம் தவிக்கிறதினாலே, கர்த்தர் மனஸ்தாபப்படுவார்.

And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the LORD because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them.

And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.

ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் கோபமூண்டவராகி: இந்த ஜனங்கள் தங்கள் பிதாக்களுக்கு நான் கற்பித்த என் உடன்படிக்கையை மீறி என் சொல்லைக் கேளாதேபோனபடியால்,

And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel; and he said, Because that this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto my voice;

யோசுவா மரித்துப் பின்வைத்துப்போன ஜாதிகளில் ஒருவரையும், நான் இனி அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்திவிடாதிருப்பேன்.

I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died:

அவர்கள் பிதாக்கள் கர்த்தரின் வழியைக் கவனித்ததுபோல, அவர்கள் அதிலே நடக்கும்படிக்கு, அதைக் கவனிப்பார்களோ இல்லையோ என்று, அவர்களைக்கொண்டு இஸ்ரவேலைச் சோதிப்பதற்காக அப்படிச் செய்வேன் என்றார்.

That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.

அதற்காகக் கர்த்தர் அந்த ஜாதிகளை யோசுவாவின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடாமலும், அவைகளைச் சீக்கிரமாய்த் துரத்திவிடாமலும் விட்டுவைத்தார்.

Therefore the LORD left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered he them into the hand of Joshua.

நியாயாதிபதிகள் அத்தியாயம் 3

கானான் தேசத்தில் நடந்த சகல யுத்தங்களையும் அறியாதிருந்த இஸ்ரவேலராகிய அனைவரையும் சோதிப்பதற்காகவும்,

Now these are the nations which the LORD left, to prove Israel by them, even as many of Israel as had not known all the wars of Canaan;

இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரின் சந்ததியாரும் அதற்குமுன் யுத்தஞ்செய்ய அறியாதிருந்தவர்களும் அவைகளை அறியும்படி பழக்குவிப்பதற்காகவும் கர்த்தர் விட்டுவைத்த ஜாதிகள் யாரென்றால்:

Only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing thereof;

பெலிஸ்தரின் ஐந்து அதிபதிகளும், சகல கானானியரும், சீதோனியரும், பாகால்எர்மோன் துவக்கி ஆமாத்திற்குள் பிரவேசிக்கும்வரைக்கும் லீபனோனின் மலைகளிலே குடியிருக்கிற ஏவியருமே.

Namely, five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites that dwelt in mount Lebanon, from mount Baalhermon unto the entering in of Hamath.

கர்த்தர் மோசேயைக்கொண்டு தங்கள் பிதாக்களுக்கு விதித்த கற்பனைகளுக்கு இஸ்ரவேலர் கீழ்ப்படிவார்களோ என்று அறியும்படி, இஸ்ரவேலரை அவர்களாலே சோதிப்பதற்காக அவர்கள் விடப்பட்டிருந்தார்கள்.

And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the LORD, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.

இப்படி இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர், கானானியர், ஏத்தியர், எமோரியர், பெரிசியர், ஏவியர், எபூசியராகிய இவர்கள் நடுவே குடியிருந்து,

And the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, Hittites, and Amorites, and Perizzites, and Hivites, and Jebusites:

அவர்களுடைய குமாரத்திகளை விவாகம்பண்ணி, தங்களுடைய குமாரத்திகளை அவர்கள் குமாரருக்குக் கொடுத்து, அவர்கள் தேவர்களைச் சேவித்தார்கள்.

And they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods.

இப்படி இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்து, தங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை மறந்து, பாகால்களையும் தோப்பு விக்கிரகங்களையும் சேவிக்கிறபோது,

And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and forgat the LORD their God, and served Baalim and the groves.

கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் கோபமூண்டவராகி, அவர்களை மெசொப்பொத்தாமியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய கூசான்ரிஷதாயீமின் கையிலே விற்றுப்போட்டார்; இப்படியே இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கூசான்ரிஷதாயீமை எட்டு வருஷம் சேவித்தார்கள்.

Therefore the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushanrishathaim eight years.

இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தரை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிட்டபோது, கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரை இரட்சிக்கும்படி காலேபின் தம்பியான கேனாசுடைய குமாரனாகிய ஒத்னியேல் என்னும் ஒரு இரட்சகனை அவர்களுக்கு எழும்பப்பண்ணினார்.

And when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother.

அவன்மேல் கர்த்தருடைய ஆவி வந்திருந்ததினால், அவன் இஸ்ரவேலை நியாயம் விசாரித்து, யுத்தம்பண்ணப் புறப்பட்டான்; கர்த்தர் மெசொப்பொத்தாமியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய கூசான்ரிஷதாயீமை அவன் கையிலே ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; ஆகையால் அவன் கை கூசான்ரிஷதாயீமின்மேல் பலங்கொண்டது.

And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the LORD delivered Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushanrishathaim.

தேசம் நாற்பது வருஷம் அமைதலாயிருந்தது. கேனாசின் குமாரனாகிய ஒத்னியேல் மரணமடைந்தான்.

And the land had rest forty years. And Othniel the son of Kenaz died.

இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் மறுபடியும் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தபடியால், கர்த்தர் எக்லோன் என்னும் மோவாபின் ராஜாவை இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பலக்கப்பண்ணினார்.

And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil in the sight of the LORD.

அவன் அம்மோன் புத்திரரையும் அமலேக்கியரையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு வந்து, இஸ்ரவேலை முறிய அடித்தான்; பேரீச்சமரங்களின் பட்டணத்தையும் பிடித்தான்.

And he gathered unto him the children of Ammon and Amalek, and went and smote Israel, and possessed the city of palm trees.

இப்படியே இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் எக்லோன் என்னும் மோவாபின் ராஜாவைப் பதினெட்டு வருஷம் சேவித்தார்கள்.

So the children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.

இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தரை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிட்டபோது, கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்குப் பென்யமீன் கோத்திரத்தானாகிய கேராவின் மகன் ஏகூத் என்னும் இரட்சகனை எழும்பப்பண்ணினார்; அவன் இடதுகைப் பழக்கமுள்ளவனாயிருந்தான்; அவன் கையிலே இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் மோவாபின் ராஜாவாகிய எக்லோனுக்குக் காணிக்கை அனுப்பினார்கள்.

But when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of Gera, a Benjamite, a man lefthanded: and by him the children of Israel sent a present unto Eglon the king of Moab.

ஏகூத், இருபுறமும் கருக்கும் ஒரு முழ நீளமுமான ஒரு கத்தியை உண்டுபண்ணி, அதைத் தன் வஸ்திரத்துக்குள்ளே தன் வலதுபுறத்து இடுப்பிலே கட்டிக்கொண்டு,

But Ehud made him a dagger which had two edges, of a cubit length; and he did gird it under his raiment upon his right thigh.

காணிக்கையை மோவாபின் ராஜாவாகிய எக்லோனுக்குச் செலுத்தினான்; எக்லோன் மிகவும் ஸ்தூலித்த மனுஷனாயிருந்தான்.

And he brought the present unto Eglon king of Moab: and Eglon was a very fat man.

அவன் காணிக்கையைச் செலுத்தித் தீர்ந்தபின்பு, காணிக்கையைச் சுமந்து வந்த ஜனங்களை அனுப்பிவிட்டான்.

And when he had made an end to offer the present, he sent away the people that bare the present.

அவனோ கில்காலிலுள்ள சிலைகள் இருக்கும் இடத்திலிருந்து திரும்பிவந்து: ராஜாவே, உம்மிடத்தில் சொல்லவேண்டிய இரகசியமான ஒரு வார்த்தை உண்டு என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: பொறு என்றான்; அப்பொழுது அவனிடத்தில் நின்ற யாவரும் அவனை விட்டு வெளியே போய்விட்டார்கள்.

But he himself turned again from the quarries that were by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret errand unto thee, O king: who said, Keep silence. And all that stood by him went out from him.

ஏகூத் அவன் கிட்டே போனான்; அவனோ தனக்குத் தனிப்புறம் இருந்த குளிர்ச்சியான அறைவீட்டில் உட்கார்ந்திருந்தான்; அப்பொழுது ஏகூத்: உம்மிடத்திலே சொல்லவேண்டிய தேவவாக்கு எனக்கு உண்டு என்றான்; அவன் தன் ஆசனத்திலிருந்து எழுந்திருந்தான்.

And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting in a summer parlour, which he had for himself alone. And Ehud said, I have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of his seat.

உடனே ஏகூத் தன் இடதுகையை நீட்டி, தன் வலதுபுறத்து இடுப்பிலே கட்டியிருந்த கத்தியை உருவி, அதை அவன் வயிற்றிற்குள் பாய்ச்சினான்.

And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly:

அலகோடேகூடக் கைப்பிடியும் உள்ளே புகுந்தது; அவனுடைய வயிற்றிற்குள் போன கத்தியை இவன் இழுக்கக்கூடாதபடிக்கு, நிணம் அலகைச் சுற்றிக் கொண்டடைத்தது; அது பின்புறத்திலே புறப்பட்டது.

And the haft also went in after the blade; and the fat closed upon the blade, so that he could not draw the dagger out of his belly; and the dirt came out.

ஏகூத் புறப்பட்டு, அறைவீட்டின் கதவைச் சாத்திப் பூட்டிப்போட்டு, கொலுக்கூடத்தின் வழியாய்ப் போய்விட்டான்.

Then Ehud went forth through the porch, and shut the doors of the parlour upon him, and locked them.

அவன் போனபின்பு ஊழியக்காரர் வந்து பார்த்தார்கள்; இதோ, அறைவீட்டின் கதவு பூட்டியிருந்தது; ஆகையால் அவர் அந்தக் குளிர்ச்சியான அறையிலே மலஜலாதிக்கிருக்கிறாராக்கும் என்றார்கள்.

When he was gone out, his servants came; and when they saw that, behold, the doors of the parlour were locked, they said, Surely he covereth his feet in his summer chamber.

And they tarried till they were ashamed: and, behold, he opened not the doors of the parlour; therefore they took a key, and opened them: and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead on the earth.

அவர்கள் தாமதித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தபோது, ஏகூத் ஓடிப்போய், சிலைகளுள்ள இடத்தைக் கடந்து, சேயிராத்தைச் சேர்ந்து தப்பினான்.

And Ehud escaped while they tarried, and passed beyond the quarries, and escaped unto Seirath.

அங்கே வந்தபோது எப்பிராயீம் மலையில் எக்காளம் ஊதினான்; அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் அவனோடேகூட மலையிலிருந்து இறங்கினார்கள்; அவன் அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக நடந்து:

And it came to pass, when he was come, that he blew a trumpet in the mountain of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went down with him from the mount, and he before them.

என்னைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து வாருங்கள்; கர்த்தர் உங்கள் பகைஞராகிய மோவாபியரை உங்கள் கைகளில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார் என்றான். அவர்கள் அவனைப் பின்தொடர்ந்துபோய், மோவாபுக்கு எதிரான யோர்தான் துறைகளைப் பிடித்து, ஒருவனையும் கடந்துபோகவொட்டாமல்,

And he said unto them, Follow after me: for the LORD hath delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand. And they went down after him, and took the fords of Jordan toward Moab, and suffered not a man to pass over.

அக்காலத்திலே மோவாபியரில் ஏறக்குறையப் பதினாயிரம் பேரை வெட்டினார்கள்; அவர்களெல்லாரும் புஷ்டியுள்ளவர்களும் பராக்கிரமசாலிகளுமாயிருந்தார்கள்; அவர்களில் ஒருவனும் தப்பவில்லை.

And they slew of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, all lusty, and all men of valour; and there escaped not a man.

இப்படியே அந்நாளிலே மோவாப் இஸ்ரவேலுடைய கையின்கீழ்த் தாழ்த்தப்பட்டது; அதனாலே தேசம் எண்பது வருஷம் அமைதலாயிருந்தது.

So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. And the land had rest fourscore years.

அவனுக்குப்பிற்பாடு ஆனாத்தின் குமாரன் சம்கார் எழும்பினான்; அவன் பெலிஸ்தரில் அறுநூறு பேரை ஒரு தாற்றுக்கோலால் முறிய அடித்தான்; அவனும் இஸ்ரவேலை இரட்சித்தான்.

And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, which slew of the Philistines six hundred men with an ox goad: and he also delivered Israel.

அப்போஸ்தலர் அத்தியாயம் 15

And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.

அதினாலே அவர்களுக்கும் பவுல் பர்னபா என்பவர்களுக்கும் மிகுந்த வாக்குவாதமும் தர்க்கமும் உண்டானபோது, அந்த விஷயத்தினிமித்தம் பவுலும் பர்னபாவும் அவர்களைச் சேர்ந்தவேறு சிலரும் எருசலேமிலிருக்கிற அப்போஸ்தலரிடத்திற்கும் மூப்பரிடத்திற்கும் போகவேண்டுமென்று தீர்மானித்தார்கள்.

When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.

அந்தப்படி அவர்கள் சபையாரால் வழிவிட்டனுப்பப்பட்டு, பெனிக்கே சமாரியா நாடுகளின் வழியாய்ப் போய், புறஜாதியார் மனந்திரும்பின செய்தியை அறிவித்து, சகோதரர் எல்லாருக்கும் மிகுந்த சந்தோஷத்தை உண்டாக்கினார்கள்.

And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.

And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.

அப்பொழுது பரிசேய சமயத்தாரில் விசுவாசிகளான சிலர் எழுந்து, அவர்களை விருத்தசேதனம் பண்ணுகிறதும் மோசேயின் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தைக் கைக்கொள்ளும்படி அவர்களுக்குக் கற்பிக்கிறதும் அவசியம் என்றார்கள்.

But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.

அப்போஸ்தலரும், மூப்பரும் இந்தக் காரியத்தைக்குறித்து ஆலோசனைபண்ணும்படி கூடினார்கள்.

And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.

மிகுந்த தர்க்கம் உண்டானபோது, பேதுரு எழுந்து, அவர்களை நோக்கி: சகோதரரே, நீங்கள் அறிந்திருக்கிறபடி புறஜாதியார் என்னுடைய வாயினாலே சுவிசேஷ வசனத்தைக் கேட்டு விசுவாசிக்கும்படி தேவன் அநேக நாட்களுக்கு முன்னே உங்களில் ஒருவனாகிய என்னைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டார்.

And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.

இருதயங்களை அறிந்திருக்கிற தேவன் நமக்குப் பரிசுத்தஆவியைத் தந்தருளினதுபோல அவர்களுக்கும் தந்தருளி, அவர்களைக்குறித்துச் சாட்சிகொடுத்தார்;

And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

விசுவாசத்தினாலே அவர்கள் இருதயங்களை அவர் சுத்தமாக்கி, நமக்கும் அவர்களுக்கும் யாதொரு வித்தியாசமுமிராதபடி செய்தார்.

And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

இப்படியிருக்க, நம்முடைய பிதாக்களாலும் நம்மாலும் சுமக்கக்கூடாதிருந்த நுகத்தடியைச் சீஷர் கழுத்தின்மேல் சுமத்துவதினால், நீங்கள் தேவனைச் சோதிப்பானேன்?

Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவின் கிருபையினாலே அவர்கள் இரட்சிக்கப்படுகிறது எப்படியோ, அப்படியே நாமும் இரட்சிக்கப்படுவோமென்று நம்பியிருக்கிறோமே என்றான்.

But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

அப்பொழுது கூடிவந்திருந்த யாவரும் அமைந்திருந்து, பர்னபாவும் பவுலும் தங்களைக்கொண்டு தேவன் புறஜாதிகளுக்குள்ளே செய்த அடையாளங்கள் அற்புதங்கள் யாவையும் விவரித்துச் சொல்லக் கேட்டார்கள்.

Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

அவர்கள் பேசி முடிந்தபின்பு, யாக்கோபு அவர்களை நோக்கி: சகோதரரே, எனக்குச் செவிகொடுங்கள்.

And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:

Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.

அதற்குத் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளுடைய வாக்கியங்களும் ஒத்திருக்கிறது.

And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,

எப்படியெனில், மற்ற மனுஷரும், என்னுடைய நாமந்தரிக்கப்படும் சகல ஜாதிகளும், கர்த்தரைத் தேடும்படிக்கு,

After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:

நான் இதற்குப்பின்பு திரும்பிவந்து, விழுந்துபோன தாவீதின் கூடாரத்தை மறுபடியும் எடுப்பித்து, அதிலே பழுதாய்ப்போனவைகளை மறுபடியும் சீர்ப்படுத்தி, அதைச் செவ்வையாக நிறுத்துவேன் என்று இவைகளையெல்லாஞ்செய்கிற கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்று எழுதியிருக்கிறது.

That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.

உலகத்தோற்றமுதல் தேவனுக்குத் தம்முடைய கிரியைகளெல்லாம் தெரிந்திருக்கிறது.

Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

ஆதலால் புறஜாதிகளில் தேவனிடத்தில் திரும்புகிறவர்களைக் கலங்கப்பண்ணலாகாதென்றும்,

Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:

விக்கிரகங்களுக்குப் படைத்த அசுசியானவைகளுக்கும், வேசித்தனத்திற்கும், நெருக்குண்டு செத்ததிற்கும், இரத்தத்திற்கும், விலகியிருக்கும்படி அவர்களுக்கு நாம் எழுதவேண்டுமென்றும் நான் தீர்மானிக்கிறேன்.

But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

மோசேயின் ஆகமங்கள் ஓய்வுநாள்தோறும் ஜெப ஆலயங்களில் வாசிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறபடியால், பூர்வகாலந்தொடங்கிச் சகல பட்டணங்களிலும் அந்த ஆகமங்களைப் பிரசங்கிக்கிறவர்களும் உண்டே என்றான்.

For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.

அப்பொழுது தங்களில் சிலரைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டு பவுலோடும் பர்னபாவோடும் அந்தியோகியாவுக்கு அனுப்புகிறது அப்போஸ்தலருக்கும் மூப்பருக்கும் சபையாரெல்லாருக்கும் நலமாகக் கண்டது. அவர்கள் யாரென்றால், சகோதரரில் விசேஷித்தவர்களாகிய பர்சபா என்று மறுபேர்கொண்ட யூதாவும் சீலாவுமே.

Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:

இவர்கள் கையில் அவர்கள் எழுதிக்கொடுத்தனுப்பின நிருபமாவது: அப்போஸ்தலரும் மூப்பரும் சகோதரருமாகிய நாங்கள் அந்தியோகியாவிலும் சீரியாவிலும் சிலிசியாவிலும் இருக்கும் புறஜாதியாராகிய சகோதரருக்கு வாழ்த்துதல் சொல்லி எழுதிய நிருபம் என்னவென்றால்:

And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia:

எங்களால் கட்டளைபெறாத சிலர் எங்களிடத்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு, நீங்கள் விருத்தசேதனமடையவேண்டுமென்றும், நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தைக் கைக்கொள்ளவேண்டுமென்றும் சொல்லி, இப்படிப்பட்ட வார்த்தைகளால் உங்களைக் கலக்கி, உங்கள் ஆத்துமாக்களைப் புரட்டினார்கள் என்று நாங்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டபடியினாலே,

Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:

நம்முடைய கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவின் நாமத்திற்காகத் தங்கள் பிராணனையும் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கத் துணிந்தவர்களும் எங்களுக்குப் பிரியமானவர்களுமாயிருக்கிற பர்னபா பவுல் என்பவர்களோடுங்கூட,

It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

எங்களால் தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்ட சில மனுஷரை உங்களிடத்திற்கு அனுப்புகிறது ஒருமனப்பட்டுக் கூடின எங்களுக்கு நலமாகக்கண்டது.

Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

அந்தப்படியே யூதாவையும் சீலாவையும் அனுப்பியிருக்கிறோம். அவர்களும் இவைகளை வாய்மொழியாக உங்களுக்கு அறிவிப்பார்கள்.

We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.

எவையெனில், விக்கிரகங்களுக்குப் படைத்தவைகளுக்கும், இரத்தத்திற்கும், நெருக்குண்டு செத்ததிற்கும், வேசித்தனத்திற்கும், நீங்கள் விலகியிருக்கவேண்டுமென்பதே.

For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;

அவசியமான இவைகளையல்லாமல் பாரமான வேறொன்றையும் உங்கள்மேல் சுமத்தாமலிருப்பது பரிசுத்த ஆவிக்கும் எங்களுக்கும் நலமாகக் கண்டது; இவைகளுக்கு விலகி நீங்கள் உங்களைக் காத்துக் கொள்ளுவது நலமாயிருக்கும். சுகமாயிருப்பீர்களாக என்று எழுதினார்கள்.

That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

அவர்கள் அனுப்பிவிடப்பட்டு, அந்தியோகியாவுக்கு வந்து, சபையைக் கூடிவரச்செய்து, நிருபத்தை ஒப்புவித்தார்கள்.

So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle:

அதை அவர்கள் வாசித்து, அதனாலுண்டாகிய ஆறுதலுக்காகச் சந்தோஷப்பட்டார்கள்.

Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.

யூதா சீலா என்பவர்களும் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளாயிருந்தபடியினாலே அநேக வார்த்தைகளினால் சகோதரருக்குப் புத்தி சொல்லி, அவர்களைத் திடப்படுத்தி,

And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.

சிலகாலம் அங்கேயிருந்து, பின்பு சகோதரரால் சமாதானத்தோடே அப்போஸ்தலரிடத்திற்கு அனுப்பிவிடப்பட்டார்கள்.

And after they had tarried there a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles.

ஆகிலும் சீலாவுக்கு அங்கே தரித்திருக்கிறது நலமாய்க் கண்டது.

Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still.

பவுலும் பர்னபாவும் அந்தியோகியாவிலே சஞ்சரித்து, வேறே அநேகரோடுங்கூடக் கர்த்தருடைய வசனத்தை உபதேசித்துப் பிரசங்கித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.

சிலநாளைக்குப்பின்பு பவுல் பர்னபாவை நோக்கி: நாம் கர்த்தருடைய வசனத்தை அறிவித்திருக்கிற சகல பட்டணங்களிலுமுள்ள சகோதரர்கள் எப்படியிருக்கிறார்களென்று போய்ப்பார்ப்போம் வாரும் என்றான்.

And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.

அப்பொழுது பர்னபா என்பவன் மாற்கு என்னும் பேர்கொண்ட யோவானைக்கூட அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போகவேண்டும் என்றான்.

And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.

பவுலோ: அவன் பம்பிலியா நாட்டிலே நம்மை விட்டுப் பிரிந்து நம்மோடேகூட ஊழியத்துக்கு வராததினாலே, அவனை அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போகக்கூடாது என்றான்.

But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.

இதைப்பற்றி அவர்களுக்குள்ளே கடுங்கோபமூண்டபடியினால் அவர்கள் ஒருவரையொருவர் விட்டுப் பிரிந்தார்கள். பர்னபா மாற்குவைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு கப்பல் ஏறிச் சீப்புருதீவுக்குப் போனான்.

And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;

பவுலோ சீலாவைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டு, சகோதரராலே தேவனுடைய கிருபைக்கு ஒப்புவிக்கப்பட்டு, புறப்பட்டு,

And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.

சீரியாவிலும் சிலிசியாவிலும் திரிந்து, சபைகளைத் திடப்படுத்தினான்.

And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.
