ஆதியாகமம் அத்தியாயம் 14

சிநெயாரின் ராஜாவாகிய அம்ராப்பேலும், ஏலாசாரின் ராஜாவாகிய அரியோகும், ஏலாமின் ராஜாவாகிய கெதர்லா கோமேரும், ஜாதிகளின் ராஜாவாகிய திதியாலும் இருந்த நாட்களில்;

And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations;

அவர்கள் சோதோமின் ராஜாவாகிய பேராவோடும், கொமோராவின் ராஜாவாகிய பிர்சாவோடும், அத்மாவின் ராஜாவாகிய சிநெயாவோடும், செபோயீமின் ராஜாவாகிய செமேபரோடும், சோவார் என்னும் பேலாவின் ராஜாவோடும் யுத்தம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

That these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar.

இவர்களெல்லாரும் உப்புக்கடலாகிய சித்தீம் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே கூடினார்கள்.

All these were joined together in the vale of Siddim, which is the salt sea.

இவர்கள் பன்னிரண்டு வருஷம் கெதர்லாகோமேரைச் சேவித்து, பதின்மூன்றாம் வருஷத்திலே கலகம் பண்ணினார்கள்.

Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.

பதினாலாம் வருஷத்திலே கெதர்லாகோமேரும், அவனோடே கூடியிருந்த ராஜாக்களும் வந்து, அஸ்தரோத்கர்னாயீமிலே இருந்த ரெப்பாயீமியரையும், காமிலே இருந்த சூசிமியரையும், சாவேகீரியத்தாயீமிலே இருந்த ஏமியரையும்,

And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emims in Shaveh Kiriathaim,

சேயீர் மலைகளில் இருந்த ஓரியரையும், வனாந்தரத்துக்கு அருகான எல்பாரான்மட்டும் முறியடித்து,

And the Horites in their mount Seir, unto Elparan, which is by the wilderness.

திரும்பிக் காதேஸ் என்னும் என்மிஸ்பாத்துக்கு வந்து, அமலேக்கியருடைய நாடனைத்தையும், அத்சாத்சோன் தாமாரிலே குடியிருந்த எமோரியரையும் கூடச் சங்கரித்தார்கள்.

And they returned, and came to Enmishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazezontamar.

அப்பொழுது சோதோமின் ராஜாவும், கொமோராவின் ராஜாவும், அத்மாவின் ராஜாவும், செபோயீமின் ராஜாவும், சோவார் என்னும் பேலாவின் ராஜாவும் புறப்பட்டுச் சித்தீம் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே,

And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar;) and they joined battle with them in the vale of Siddim;

ஏலாமின் ராஜாவாகிய கெதர்லாகோமேரோடும், ஜாதிகளின் ராஜாவாகிய திதியாலோடும், சிநெயாரின் ராஜாவாகிய அம்ராப்பேலோடும், ஏலாசாரின் ராஜாவாகிய அரியோகோடும் யுத்தம்பண்ணப் புறப்பட்டு, அந்த ஐந்து ராஜாக்களோடும் இந்த நாலு ராஜாக்களும் யுத்தம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

With Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of nations, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with five.

அந்தச் சித்தீம் பள்ளத்தாக்கு எங்கும் நிலக்கீல் உண்டாகும் கேணிகள் இருந்தது. சோதோம் கொமோராவின் ராஜாக்கள் முறிந்தோடி அங்கே விழுந்தார்கள்; மீந்தவர்கள் மலைகளுக்கு ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.

And the vale of Siddim was full of slimepits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there; and they that remained fled to the mountain.

அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் சோதோமிலும் கோமோராவிலுமுள்ள பொருள்கள் எல்லாவற்றையும், போஜனபதார்த்தங்கள் எல்லாவற்றையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு போய்விட்டார்கள்.

And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and went their way.

ஆபிராமின் சகோதரனுடைய குமாரனாகிய லோத்து சோதோமிலே குடியிருந்தபடியால், அவனையும், அவன் பொருள்களையும் கொண்டுபோய்விட்டார்கள்.

And they took Lot, Abram's brother's son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.

தப்பியோடின ஒருவன் எபிரெயனாகிய ஆபிராமிடத்தில் வந்து அதை அறிவித்தான்; ஆபிராம் தன்னோடே உடன்படிக்கை செய்திருந்த மனிதராகிய எஸ்கோலுக்கும், ஆநேருக்கும் சகோதரனாகிய மம்ரே என்னும் எமோரியனுடைய சமபூமியிலே அப்பொழுது குடியிருந்தான்.

And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram.

தன் சகோதரன் சிறையாகக் கொண்டுபோகப்பட்டதை ஆபிராம் கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, அவன் தன் வீட்டிலே பிறந்த கைபடிந்தவர்களாகிய முந்நூற்றுப் பதினெட்டு ஆட்களுக்கும் ஆயுதம் தரிப்பித்து, தாண் என்னும் ஊர் மட்டும் அவர்களைத் தொடர்ந்து,

And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.

இராக்காலத்திலே அவனும், அவன் வேலைக்காரரும் பிரிந்து, பவிஞ்சுகளாய் அவர்கள்மேல் விழுந்து, அவர்களை முறியடித்து, தமஸ்குவுக்கு இடதுபுறமான ஓபாமட்டும் துரத்தி,

And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.

சகல பொருள்களையும் திருப்பிக்கொண்டுவந்தான்; தன் சகோதரனாகிய லோத்தையும், அவனுடைய பொருள்களையும், ஸ்திரீகளையும், ஜனங்களையும் திருப்பிக்கொண்டுவந்தான்.

And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.

அவன் கெதர்லாகோமேரையும், அவனோடிருந்த ராஜாக்களையும் முறியடித்துத் திரும்பிவருகிறபோது, சோதோமின் ராஜா புறப்பட்டு, ராஜாவின் பள்ளத்தாக்கு என்னும் சாவே பள்ளத்தாக்குமட்டும் அவனுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோனான்.

And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's dale.

அன்றியும், உன்னதமான தேவனுடைய ஆசாரியனாயிருந்த சாலேமின் ராஜாவாகிய மெல்கிசேதேக்கு அப்பமும் திராட்சரசமும் கொண்டுவந்து,

And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.

அவனை ஆசீர்வதித்து: வானத்தையும் பூமியையும் உடையவராகிய உன்னதமான தேவனுடைய ஆசீர்வாதம் ஆபிராமுக்கு உண்டாவதாக.

And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:

உன் சத்துருக்களை உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்த உன்னதமான தேவனுக்கு ஸ்தோத்திரம் என்று சொன்னான். இவனுக்கு ஆபிராம் எல்லாவற்றிலும் தசமபாகம் கொடுத்தான்.

And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

சோதோமின் ராஜா ஆபிராமை நோக்கி: ஜனங்களை எனக்குத் தாரும், பொருள்களை நீர் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளும் என்றான்.

And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.

அதற்கு, ஆபிராம் சோதோமின் ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து; ஆபிராமை ஐசுவரியவனாக்கினேன் என்று நீர் சொல்லாதபடிக்கு நான் ஒரு சரட்டையாகிலும் பாதரட்சையின் வாரையாகிலும், உமக்கு உண்டானவைகளில் யாதொன்றையாகிலும் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளேன் என்று,

And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,

வானத்தையும் பூமியையும் உடையவராகிய உன்னதமான தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு நேராக என் கையை உயர்த்துகிறேன்.

That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:

வாலிபர் சாப்பிட்டதுபோக, என்னுடனே வந்த ஆநேர், எஸ்கோல், மம்ரே என்னும் புருஷருடைய பங்குமாத்திரமே வரவேண்டும்; இவர்கள் தங்கள் பங்கை எடுத்துக்கொள்ளட்டும் என்றான்.

Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.

ஆதியாகமம் அத்தியாயம் 15

இந்தக் காரியங்கள் நடந்தபின்பு, கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தை ஆபிராமுக்குத் தரிசனத்திலே உண்டாகி, அவர்: ஆபிராமே, நீ பயப்படாதே; நான் உனக்குக் கேடகமும், உனக்கு மகா பெரிய பலனுமாயிருக்கிறேன் என்றார்.

After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.

அதற்கு ஆபிராம்: கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவரே, அடியேனுக்கு என்ன தருவீர்? நான் பிள்ளையில்லாமல் இருக்கிறேனே; தமஸ்கு ஊரானாகிய இந்த எலியேசர் என் வீட்டு விசாரணைக்கர்த்தனாய் இருக்கிறானே என்றான்.

And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?

பின்னும் ஆபிராம்: தேவரீர் எனக்குப் புத்திரசந்தானம் அருளவில்லை; இதோ என் வீட்டிலே பிறந்த பிள்ளை எனக்குச் சுதந்தரவாளியாய் இருக்கிறான் என்றான்.

And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தை அவனுக்கு உண்டாகி: இவன் உனக்குச் சுதந்தரவாளியல்ல, உன் கர்ப்பப்பிறப்பாயிருப்பவனே உனக்குச் சுதந்தரவாளியாவான் என்று சொல்லி,

And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.

அவர் அவனை வெளியே அழைத்து: நீ வானத்தை அண்ணாந்துபார், நட்சத்திரங்களை எண்ண உன்னாலே கூடுமானால், அவைகளை எண்ணு என்று சொல்லி; பின்பு அவனை நோக்கி: உன் சந்ததி இவ்வண்ணமாய் இருக்கும் என்றார்.

And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.

அவன் கர்த்தரை விசுவாசித்தான், அதை அவர் அவனுக்கு நீதியாக எண்ணினார்.

And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.

பின்னும் அவர் அவனை நோக்கி: இந்தத் தேசத்தை உனக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுக்கும்பொருட்டு, உன்னை ஊர் என்கிற கல்தேயருடைய பட்டணத்திலிருந்து அழைத்துவந்த கர்த்தர் நானே என்றார்.

And he said unto him, I am the LORD that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.

அதற்கு அவன்: கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவரே, நான் அதைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்வேன் என்று எதினால் அறிவேன் என்றான்.

And he said, Lord GOD, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?

அதற்கு அவர்: மூன்றுவயதுக் கிடாரியையும், மூன்றுவயது வெள்ளாட்டையும், மூன்றுவயது ஆட்டுக்கிடாவையும், ஒரு காட்டுப்புறாவையும், ஒரு புறாக்குஞ்சையும், என்னிடத்தில் கொண்டுவா என்றார்.

And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.

அவன் அவைகள் எல்லாவற்றையும் அவரிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்து, அவைகளை நடுவாகத் துண்டித்து, துண்டங்களை ஒன்றுக்கொன்று எதிராக வைத்தான்; பட்சிகளை அவன் துண்டிக்கவில்லை.

And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not.

பறவைகள் அந்த உடல்களின்மேல் இறங்கின; அவைகளை ஆபிராம் துரத்தினான்.

And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away.

சூரியன் அஸ்தமிக்கும்போது, ஆபிராமுக்கு அயர்ந்த நித்திரை வந்தது; திகிலும் காரிருளும் அவனை மூடிக்கொண்டது.

And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.

அப்பொழுது அவர் ஆபிராமை நோக்கி: உன் சந்ததியார் தங்களுடையதல்லாத அந்நிய தேசத்திலே பரதேசிகளாயிருந்து, அத்தேசத்தாரைச் சேவிப்பார்கள் என்றும், அவர்களால் நானூறு வருஷம் உபத்திரவப்படுவார்கள் என்றும், நீ நிச்சயமாய் அறியக்கடவாய்.

And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;

இவர்கள் சேவிக்கும் ஜாதிகளை நான் நியாயந்தீர்ப்பேன்; பின்பு மிகுந்த பொருள்களுடனே புறப்பட்டு வருவார்கள்.

And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.

நீ சமாதானத்தோடே உன் பிதாக்களிடத்தில் சேருவாய்; நல்ல முதிர்வயதிலே அடக்கம்பண்ணப்படுவாய்.

And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.

நாலாம் தலைமுறையிலே அவர்கள் இவ்விடத்துக்குத் திரும்ப வருவார்கள்; ஏனென்றால் எமோரியருடைய அக்கிரமம் இன்னும் நிறைவாகவில்லை என்றார்.

But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.

சூரியன் அஸ்தமித்து காரிருள் உண்டானபின்பு, இதோ, புகைகிற சூளையும், அந்தத் துண்டங்களின் நடுவே கடந்துபோகிற அக்கினிஜூவாலையும் தோன்றின.

And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.

அந்நாளிலே கர்த்தர் ஆபிராமோடே உடன்படிக்கைபண்ணி, எகிப்தின் நதிதுவக்கி ஐபிராத்து நதி என்னும் பெரிய நதிமட்டுமுள்ளதும்,

In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

கேனியரும், கெனிசியரும், கத்மோனியரும்,

The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,

ஏத்தியரும், பெரிசியரும், ரெப்பாயீமியரும்,

And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,

எமோரியரும், கானானியரும், கிர்காசியரும், எபூசியரும் என்பவர்கள் இருக்கிறதுமான இந்தத் தேசத்தை உன் சந்ததிக்குக் கொடுத்தேன் என்றார்.

And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.

ஆதியாகமம் அத்தியாயம் 16

ஆபிராமுடைய மனைவியாகிய சாராய்க்குப் பிள்ளையில்லாதிருந்தது. எகிப்து தேசத்தாளாகிய ஆகார் என்னும் பேர்கொண்ட ஒரு அடிமைப்பெண் அவளுக்கு இருந்தாள்.

Now Sarai Abram's wife bare him no children: and she had an handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.

சாராய் ஆபிராமை நோக்கி: நான் பிள்ளைபெறாதபடிக்குக் கர்த்தர் என் கர்ப்பத்தை அடைத்திருக்கிறார்; என் அடிமைப்பெண்ணோடே சேரும், ஒருவேளை அவளால் என் வீடு கட்டப்படும் என்றாள். சாராயின் வார்த்தைக்கு ஆபிராம் செவிகொடுத்தான்.

And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.

ஆபிராம் கானான்தேசத்தில் பத்து வருஷம் குடியிருந்தபின்பு, ஆபிராமின் மனைவியாகிய சாராய் எகிப்து தேசத்தாளான தன் அடிமைப்பெண்ணாகிய ஆகாரை அழைத்து, அவளைத் தன் புருஷனாகிய ஆபிராமுக்கு மறுமனையாட்டியாகக் கொடுத்தாள்.

And Sarai Abram's wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.

அவன் ஆகாரோடே சேர்ந்தபோது, அவள் கர்ப்பந்தரித்தாள்; அவள் தான் கர்ப்பவதியானதைக் கண்டபோது, தன் நாச்சியாரை அற்பமாக எண்ணினாள்.

And he went in unto Hagar, and she conceived: and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.

அப்பொழுது சாராய் ஆபிராமை நோக்கி: எனக்கு நேரிட்ட அநியாயம் உமதுமேல் சுமரும்; என் அடிமைப்பெண்ணை உம்முடைய மடியிலே கொடுத்தேன்; அவள் தான் கர்ப்பவதியானதைக் கண்டு என்னை அற்பமாக எண்ணுகிறாள்; கர்த்தர் எனக்கும் உமக்கும் நடுநின்று நியாயந்தீர்பாராக என்றாள்.

And Sarai said unto Abram, My wrong be upon thee: I have given my maid into thy bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes: the LORD judge between me and thee.

அதற்கு ஆபிராம் சாராயை நோக்கி: இதோ, உன் அடிமைப்பெண் உன் கைக்குள் இருக்கிறாள்; உன் பார்வைக்கு நலமானபடி அவளுக்குச் செய் என்றான். அப்பொழுது சாராய் அவளைக் கடினமாய் நடத்தினபடியால் அவள் அவளை விட்டு ஓடிப்போனாள்.

But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid is in thy hand; do to her as it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face.

கர்த்தருடைய தூதனானவர் அவளை வனாந்தரத்திலே சூருக்குப்போகிற வழியருகே இருக்கிற நீரூற்றண்டையில் கண்டு:

And the angel of the LORD found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur.

சாராயின் அடிமைப்பெண்ணாகிய ஆகாரே, எங்கேயிருந்து வருகிறாய்? எங்கே போகிறாய்? என்று கேட்டார்; அவள்: நான் என் நாச்சியாராகிய சாராயைவிட்டு ஓடிப்போகிறேன் என்றாள்.

And he said, Hagar, Sarai's maid, whence camest thou? and whither wilt thou go? And she said, I flee from the face of my mistress Sarai.

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தருடைய தூதனானவர்: நீ உன் நாச்சியாரண்டைக்குத் திரும்பிப்போய், அவள் கையின்கீழ் அடங்கியிரு என்றார்.

And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.

பின்னும் கர்த்தருடைய தூதனானவர் அவளை நோக்கி: உன் சந்ததியை மிகவும் பெருகப்பண்ணுவேன்; அது பெருகி, எண்ணிமுடியாததாயிருக்கும் என்றார்.

And the angel of the LORD said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.

பின்னும் கர்த்தருடைய தூதனானவர் அவளை நோக்கி: நீ கர்ப்பவதியாயிருக்கிறாய், ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெறுவாய்; கர்த்தர் உன் அங்கலாய்ப்பைக் கேட்டபடியினால், அவனுக்கு இஸ்மவேல் என்று பேரிடுவாயாக.

And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.

அவன் துஷ்டமனுஷனாயிருப்பான்; அவனுடைய கை எல்லாருக்கும் விரோதமாகவும், எல்லாருடைய கையும் அவனுக்கு விரோதமாகவும் இருக்கும்; தன் சகோதரர் எல்லாருக்கும் எதிராகக் குடியிருப்பான் என்றார்.

And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

அப்பொழுது அவள்: என்னைக்காண்பவரை நானும் இவ்விடத்தில் கண்டேன் அல்லவா என்று சொல்லி, தன்னோடே பேசின கர்த்தருக்கு நீர் என்னைக்காண்கிற தேவன் என்று பேரிட்டாள்.

And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?

ஆகையால், அந்தத் துரவு பெயர் லகாய்ரோயீ என்னப்பட்டது; அது காதேசுக்கும் பாரேத்துக்கும் நடுவே இருக்கிறது.

Wherefore the well was called Beerlahairoi; behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered.

ஆகார் ஆபிராமுக்கு ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்றாள்; ஆபிராம் ஆகார் பெற்ற தன் குமாரனுக்கு இஸ்மவேல் என்று பேரிட்டான்.

And Hagar bare Abram a son: and Abram called his son's name, which Hagar bare, Ishmael.

ஆகார் ஆபிராமுக்கு இஸ்மவேலைப் பெற்றபோது, ஆபிராம் எண்பத்தாறு வயதாயிருந்தான்.

And Abram was fourscore and six years old, when Hagar bare Ishmael to Abram.

மத்தேயு அத்தியாயம் 8

அவர் மலையிலிருந்து இறங்கினபோது, திரளான ஜனங்கள் அவருக்குப் பின்சென்றார்கள்.

When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.

அப்பொழுது குஷ்டரோகி ஒருவன் வந்து அவரைப் பணிந்து: ஆண்டவரே! உமக்குச் சித்தமானால், என்னைச் சுத்தமாக்க உம்மால் ஆகும் என்றான்.

And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

இயேசு தமது கையை நீட்டி அவனைத் தொட்டு: எனக்குச் சித்தமுண்டு, சுத்தமாகு என்றார். உடனே குஷ்டரோகம் நீங்கி அவன் சுத்தமானான்.

And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

இயேசு அவனை நோக்கி: இதை நீ ஒருவருக்கும் சொல்லாதபடி எச்சரிக்கையாயிரு; ஆயினும், அவர்களுக்குச் சாட்சியாக நீ போய் ஆசாரியனுக்கு உன்னைக் காண்பித்து, மோசே கட்டளையிட்ட காணிக்கையைச் செலுத்து என்றார்.

And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

இயேசு கப்பர்நகூமில் பிரவேசித்தபோது, நூற்றுக்கு அதிபதி ஒருவன் அவரிடத்தில் வந்து:

And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,

ஆண்டவரே! என் வேலைக்காரன் வீட்டிலே திமிர்வாதமாய்க் கிடந்து கொடிய வேதனைப்படுகிறான் என்று அவரை வேண்டிக்கொண்டான்.

And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.

அதற்கு இயேசு: நான் வந்து அவனைச் சொஸ்தமாக்குவேன் என்றார்.

And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.

நூற்றுக்கு அதிபதி பிரதியுத்தரமாக: ஆண்டவரே! நீர் என் வீட்டுக்குள் பிரவேசிக்க நான் பாத்திரன் அல்ல; ஒரு வார்த்தைமாத்திரம் சொல்லும்; அப்பொழுது என் வேலைக்காரன் சொஸ்தமாவான்.

The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

நான் அதிகாரத்துக்குக் கீழ்ப்பட்டவனாயிருந்தும், எனக்குக் கீழ்ப்பட்டிருக்கிற சேவகருமுண்டு; நான் ஒருவனைப் போவென்றால் போகிறான், மற்றொருவனை வாவென்றால் வருகிறான், என் வேலைக்காரனை, இதைச் செய்யென்றால் செய்கிறான் என்றான்.

For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

இயேசு இதைக் கேட்டு ஆச்சரியப்பட்டு, தமக்குப் பின்செல்லுகிறவர்களை நோக்கி: இஸ்ரவேலருக்குள்ளும் நான் இப்படிப்பட்ட விசுவாசத்தைக் காணவில்லை என்று, மெய்யாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

அநேகர் கிழக்கிலும் மேற்கிலுமிருந்து வந்து, பரலோகராஜ்யத்தில் ஆபிரகாம் ஈசாக்கு யாக்கோபு என்பவர்களோடே பந்தியிருப்பார்கள்.

And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

ராஜ்யத்தின் புத்திரரோ, புறம்பான இருளிலே தள்ளப்படுவார்கள்; அங்கே அழுகையும் பற்கடிப்பும் உண்டாயிருக்குமென்று உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.

But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

பின்பு இயேசு நூற்றுக்கு அதிபதியை நோக்கி: நீ போகலாம், நீ விசுவாசித்தபடியே உனக்கு ஆகக்கடவது என்றார். அந்த நாழிகையிலே அவன் வேலைக்காரன் சொஸ்தமானான்.

And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

இயேசு பேதுருவின் வீட்டிலே வந்து, அவன் மாமி ஜூரமாய்க் கிடக்கிறதைக் கண்டார்.

And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever.

அவர் அவள் கையைத் தொட்டவுடனே ஜூரம் அவளைவிட்டு நீங்கிற்று; அவள் எழுந்திருந்து, அவர்களுக்குப் பணிவிடைசெய்தாள்.

And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.

அஸ்தமனமானபோது, பிசாசு பிடித்திருந்த அநேகரை அவரிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்; அவர் அந்த ஆவிகளைத் தமது வார்த்தையினாலே துரத்தி, பிணியாளிகளெல்லாரையும் சொஸ்தமாக்கினார்.

When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

அவர் தாமே நம்முடைய பெலவீனங்களை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டு, நம்முடைய நோய்களைச் சுமந்தார் என்று, ஏசாயா தீர்க்கதரிசியினால் உரைக்கப்பட்டது நிறைவேறும்படி இப்படி நடந்தது.

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

பின்பு, திரளான ஜனங்கள் தம்மைச் சூழ்ந்திருக்கிறதை இயேசு கண்டு, அக்கரைக்குப் போகக் கட்டளையிட்டார்.

Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side.

அப்பொழுது, வேதபாரகன் ஒருவன் வந்து: போதகரே! நீர் எங்கே போனாலும் உம்மைப் பின்பற்றி வருவேன் என்றான்.

And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

அதற்கு இயேசு: நரிகளுக்குக் குழிகளும் ஆகாயத்துப் பறவைகளுக்குக் கூடுகளும் உண்டு; மனுஷகுமாரனுக்கோ தலைசாய்க்க இடமில்லை என்றார்.

And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

அவருடைய சீஷர்களில் வேறொருவன் அவரை நோக்கி: ஆண்டவரே! முன்பு நான் போய், என் தகப்பனை அடக்கம்பண்ண எனக்கு உத்தரவு கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்றான்.

And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

அதற்கு இயேசு: மரித்தோர் தங்கள் மரித்தோரை அடக்கம்பண்ணட்டும், நீ என்னைப் பின்பற்றி வா என்றார்.

But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

அவர் படவில் ஏறினபோது அவருடைய சீஷர்கள் அவருக்குப் பின்சென்று ஏறினார்கள்.

And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.

அப்பொழுது படவு அலைகளினால் மூடப்படத்தக்கதாய்க் கடலில் பெருங்காற்று உண்டாயிற்று. அவரோ நித்திரையாயிருந்தார்.

And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

அப்பொழுது, அவருடைய சீஷர்கள் வந்து, அவரை எழுப்பி: ஆண்டவரே! எங்களை இரட்சியும், மடிந்துபோகிறோம் என்றார்கள்.

And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

அதற்கு அவர்: அற்பவிசுவாசிகளே! ஏன் பயப்படுகிறீர்கள் என்று சொல்லி; எழுந்து, காற்றையும் கடலையும் அதட்டினார், உடனே, மிகுந்த அமைதல் உண்டாயிற்று.

And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

அந்த மனுஷர்கள் ஆச்சரியப்பட்டு: இவர் எப்படிப்பட்டவரோ, காற்றும் கடலும் இவருக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிகிறதே என்றார்கள்.

But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

அவர் அக்கரையிலே கெர்கெசேனர் நாட்டில் வந்தபோது, பிசாசு பிடித்திருந்த இரண்டுபேர் பிரேதக்கல்லறைகளிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு, அவருக்கு எதிராக வந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் மிகவும் கொடியராயிருந்தபடியால், அந்த வழியாக ஒருவனும் நடக்கக்கூடாதிருந்தது.

And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.

அவர்கள் அவரை நோக்கி: இயேசுவே, தேவனுடைய குமாரனே, எங்களுக்கும் உமக்கும் என்ன? காலம் வருமுன்னே எங்களை வேதனைப்படுத்த இங்கே வந்தீரோ என்று கூப்பிட்டார்கள்.

And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

அவர்களுக்குக் கொஞ்சதூரத்தில் அநேகம் பன்றிகள் கூட்டமாக மேய்ந்துகொண்டிருந்தன.

And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding.

அப்பொழுது, பிசாசுகள்: நீர் எங்களைத் துரத்துவீரானால், நாங்கள் அந்தப் பன்றிக்கூட்டத்தில் போகும்படி உத்தரவுகொடும் என்று அவரை வேண்டிக்கொண்டன.

So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.

அதற்கு அவர்: போங்கள் என்றார். அவைகள் புறப்பட்டு, பன்றிக்கூட்டத்தில் போயின; அப்பொழுது, பன்றிக்கூட்டமெல்லாம் உயர்ந்த மேட்டிலிருந்து கடலிலே பாய்ந்து ஜலத்தில் மாண்டுபோயின.

And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.

அவைகளை மேய்த்தவர்கள் ஓடி, பட்டணத்தில் சென்று, இந்தச் சங்கதிகள் எல்லாவற்றையும், பிசாசு பிடித்திருந்தவர்களுக்குச் சம்பவித்தவைகளையும் அறிவித்தார்கள்.

And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils.

அப்பொழுது, அந்தப் பட்டணத்தார் யாவரும் இயேசுவுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுவந்து, அவரைக் கண்டு, தங்கள் எல்லைகளைவிட்டுப் போகும்படி அவரை வேண்டிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.
