லேவியராகமம் அத்தியாயம் 1

கர்த்தர் ஆசரிப்புக் கூடாரத்திலிருந்து மோசேயைக் கூப்பிட்டு, அவனை நோக்கி:

And the LORD called unto Moses, and spake unto him out of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,

நீ இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரிடத்தில் சொல்லவேண்டியது என்னவென்றால், உங்களில் ஒருவன் கர்த்தருக்குப் பலிசெலுத்த வந்தால், மாட்டுமந்தையிலாவது ஆட்டுமந்தையிலாவது ஒரு மிருகத்தைத் தெரிந்தெடுத்து, பலிசெலுத்தவேண்டும்.

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto the LORD, ye shall bring your offering of the cattle, even of the herd, and of the flock.

அவன் செலுத்துவது மாட்டுமந்தையிலிருந்து எடுக்கப்பட்ட சர்வாங்க தகனபலியானால், அவன் பழுதற்ற ஒரு காளையைச் செலுத்துவானாக; கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் தான் அங்கிகரிக்கப்படும்படி, அவன் அதை ஆசரிப்புக்கூடார வாசலில் கொண்டுவந்து,

If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD.

அது தன் பாவநிவிர்த்திக்கென்று அங்கிகரிக்கப்படும்படி தன் கையை அதின் தலையின்மேல் வைத்து,

And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him.

கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் அந்தக்காளையைக் கொல்லக்கடவன்; அப்பொழுது ஆரோனின் குமாரராகிய ஆசாரியர்கள் அதின் இரத்தத்தை எடுத்து, அதை ஆசரிப்புக் கூடாரவாசலில் இருக்கிற பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் சுற்றிலும் தெளிக்கக்கடவர்கள்.

And he shall kill the bullock before the LORD: and the priests, Aaron's sons, shall bring the blood, and sprinkle the blood round about upon the altar that is by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

பின்பு அவன் அந்தச் சர்வாங்க தகனபலியைத் தோலுரித்து, அதைச் சந்துசந்தாகத் துண்டிக்கக்கடவன்.

And he shall flay the burnt offering, and cut it into his pieces.

அப்பொழுது ஆசாரியனாகிய ஆரோனின் குமாரர் பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் அக்கினியைப் போட்டு, அக்கினியின்மேல் கட்டைகளை அடுக்கி,

And the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire upon the altar, and lay the wood in order upon the fire:

அவன் குமாரராகிய ஆசாரியர்கள், துண்டங்களையும் தலையையும் கொழுப்பையும் பலிபீடத்திலுள்ள அக்கினியில் இருக்கிற கட்டைகளின்மேல் அடுக்கிவைக்கக்கடவர்கள்.

And the priests, Aaron's sons, shall lay the parts, the head, and the fat, in order upon the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar:

அதின் குடல்களையும் தொடைகளையும் அவன் தண்ணீரினால் கழுவுவானாக; அவைகளையெல்லாம் ஆசாரியன் பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் சர்வாங்க தகனபலியாகத் தகனிக்கக்கடவன்; இது கர்த்தருக்குச் சுகந்த வாசனையான தகனபலி.

But his inwards and his legs shall he wash in water: and the priest shall burn all on the altar, to be a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

அவன் செலுத்துவது செம்மறியாட்டு மந்தையிலுள்ள ஆடுகளிலாவது வெள்ளாட்டு மந்தையிலுள்ள ஆடுகளிலாவது எடுக்கப்பட்ட சர்வாங்க தகனபலியானால், பழுதற்ற ஒரு கடாவைக் கொண்டுவந்து,

And if his offering be of the flocks, namely, of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt sacrifice; he shall bring it a male without blemish.

கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் பலிபீடத்தின் வடபுறத்தில் அதைக் கொல்லக்கடவன்; அப்பொழுது ஆரோனின் குமாரராகிய ஆசாரியர்கள் அதின் இரத்தத்தைப் பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் சுற்றிலும் தெளிக்கக்கடவர்கள்.

And he shall kill it on the side of the altar northward before the LORD: and the priests, Aaron's sons, shall sprinkle his blood round about upon the altar.

பின்பு அவன் அதைச் சந்துசந்தாகத் துண்டித்து, அதின் தலையையும் கொழுப்பையும் கூடவைப்பானாக; அவைகளை ஆசாரியன் பலிபீடத்திலுள்ள அக்கினியில் இருக்கிற கட்டைகளின்மேல் அடுக்கிவைக்கக்கடவன்.

And he shall cut it into his pieces, with his head and his fat: and the priest shall lay them in order on the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar:

குடல்களையும் தொடைகளையும் அவன் தண்ணீரினால் கழுவுவானாக; அவைகளையெல்லாம் ஆசாரியன் கொண்டுவந்து பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் தகனிக்கக்கடவன்; இது சர்வாங்க தகனபலி; இது கர்த்தருக்குச் சுகந்த வாசனையான தகனபலி.

But he shall wash the inwards and the legs with water: and the priest shall bring it all, and burn it upon the altar: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

அவன் கர்த்தருக்குச் செலுத்துவது பறவைகளிலிருந்து எடுக்கப்பட்ட சர்வாங்க தகனபலியானால், காட்டுப் புறாக்களிலாவது புறாக்குஞ்சுகளிலாவது எடுத்துச் செலுத்தக்கடவன்.

And if the burnt sacrifice for his offering to the LORD be of fowls, then he shall bring his offering of turtledoves, or of young pigeons.

அதை ஆசாரியன் பலிபீடத்தண்டையில் கொண்டுவந்து, அதின் தலையைக்கிள்ளி, பலிபீடத்தில் தகனித்து, அதின் இரத்தத்தைப் பலிபீடத்தின் பக்கத்தில் சிந்தவிட்டு,

And the priest shall bring it unto the altar, and wring off his head, and burn it on the altar; and the blood thereof shall be wrung out at the side of the altar:

அதின் இரைப்பையை அதின் மலத்தோடுங்கூட எடுத்து, அதைப் பலிபீடத்தண்டையில் கீழ்புறமாகச் சாம்பல் இருக்கிற இடத்திலே எறிந்துவிட்டு,

And he shall pluck away his crop with his feathers, and cast it beside the altar on the east part, by the place of the ashes:

பின்பு அதின் செட்டைகளுடன் அதை இரண்டாக்காமல் பிளப்பானாக; பின்பு ஆசாரியன் அதைப் பலிபீடத்திலுள்ள அக்கினியில் இருக்கிற கட்டைகளின்மேல் தகனிக்கக்கடவன்; இது சர்வாங்க தகனபலி; இது கர்த்தருக்குச் சுகந்த வாசனையான தகனபலி.

And he shall cleave it with the wings thereof, but shall not divide it asunder: and the priest shall burn it upon the altar, upon the wood that is upon the fire: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

லேவியராகமம் அத்தியாயம் 2

ஒருவன் போஜனபலியாகிய காணிக்கையைக் கர்த்தருக்குச் செலுத்தவேண்டுமானால், அவன் காணிக்கை மெல்லிய மாவாயிருப்பதாக; அவன் அதின்மேல் எண்ணெய் வார்த்து, அதின்மேல் தூபவர்க்கம் போட்டு,

And when any will offer a meat offering unto the LORD, his offering shall be of fine flour; and he shall pour oil upon it, and put frankincense thereon:

அதை ஆரோனின் குமாரராகிய ஆசாரியர்களிடத்தில் கொண்டுவருவானாக; அப்பொழுது ஆசாரியன் அந்த மாவிலும் எண்ணெயிலும் ஒரு கைப்பிடி நிறைய தூபவர்க்கம் எல்லாவற்றோடும் எடுத்து, அதைப் பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் ஞாபகக்குறியாகத் தகனிக்கக்கடவன்; அது கர்த்தருக்குச் சுகந்த வாசனையான தகனபலி.

And he shall bring it to Aaron's sons the priests: and he shall take thereout his handful of the flour thereof, and of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof; and the priest shall burn the memorial of it upon the altar, to be an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD:

அந்தப் போஜனபலியில் மீதியாயிருப்பது ஆரோனையும் அவன் குமாரரையும் சேரும்; கர்த்தருக்கு இடும் தகனபலிகளில் இது மகா பரிசுத்தமானது.

And the remnant of the meat offering shall be Aaron's and his sons': it is a thing most holy of the offerings of the LORD made by fire.

நீ படைப்பது அடுப்பில் பாகம்பண்ணப்பட்ட போஜனபலியானால், அது எண்ணெயிலே பிசைந்த மெல்லிய மாவினால் செய்த புளிப்பில்லா அதிரசங்களாயாவது, எண்ணெய் பூசப்பட்ட புளிப்பில்லா அடைகளாயாவது இருப்பதாக.

And if thou bring an oblation of a meat offering baken in the oven, it shall be unleavened cakes of fine flour mingled with oil, or unleavened wafers anointed with oil.

நீ படைப்பது தட்டையான சட்டியில் பாகம்பண்ணப்பட்ட போஜனபலியானால், அது எண்ணெயிலே பிசைந்த புளிப்பில்லா மெல்லிய மாவினால் செய்யப்பட்டதாயிருப்பதாக.

And if thy oblation be a meat offering baken in a pan, it shall be of fine flour unleavened, mingled with oil.

அதைத் துண்டுதுண்டாகப் பிட்டு, அதின்மேல் எண்ணெய் வார்ப்பாயாக; இது ஒரு போஜனபலி.

Thou shalt part it in pieces, and pour oil thereon: it is a meat offering.

நீ படைப்பது பொரிக்குஞ்சட்டியில் பாகம்பண்ணப்பட்ட போஜனபலியானால், அது எண்ணெயிலே பிசைந்த மெல்லிய மாவினால் செய்யப்படுவதாக.

And if thy oblation be a meat offering baken in the fryingpan, it shall be made of fine flour with oil.

இப்படிச் செய்யப்பட்ட போஜனபலியைக் கர்த்தருக்குச் செலுத்துவாயாக; அது ஆசாரியனிடத்தில் கொண்டுவரப்படும்போது, அவன் அதைப் பலிபீடத்தண்டையில் கொண்டுவந்து,

And thou shalt bring the meat offering that is made of these things unto the LORD: and when it is presented unto the priest, he shall bring it unto the altar.

அந்தப் போஜனபலியிலிருந்து ஆசாரியன் ஞாபகக்குறியாக ஒரு பங்கை எடுத்துப் பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் தகனிக்கக்கடவன்; இது கர்த்தருக்குச் சுகந்த வாசனையான தகனபலி.

And the priest shall take from the meat offering a memorial thereof, and shall burn it upon the altar: it is an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

இந்தப் போஜனபலியில் மீதியானது ஆரோனையும் அவன் குமாரரையும் சேரும்; கர்த்தருக்கு இடும் தகனங்களில் இது மகா பரிசுத்தமானது.

And that which is left of the meat offering shall be Aaron's and his sons': it is a thing most holy of the offerings of the LORD made by fire.

நீங்கள் கர்த்தருக்குச் செலுத்தும் எந்த போஜனபலியும் புளித்தமாவினால் செய்யப்படாதிருப்பதாக; புளித்தமாவுள்ளதொன்றையும் தேனுள்ளதொன்றையும் கர்த்தருக்குத் தகனபலியாகத் தகனிக்கவேண்டாம்.

No meat offering, which ye shall bring unto the LORD, shall be made with leaven: for ye shall burn no leaven, nor any honey, in any offering of the LORD made by fire.

முதற்கனிகளைக் காணிக்கையாகக்கொண்டுவந்து, அவைகளைக் கர்த்தருக்குச் செலுத்தலாம்; ஆனாலும், பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் அவைகள் சுகந்த வாசனையாகத் தகனிக்கப்படலாகாது.

As for the oblation of the firstfruits, ye shall offer them unto the LORD: but they shall not be burnt on the altar for a sweet savour.

நீ படைக்கிற எந்த போஜனபலியும் உப்பினால் சாரமாக்கப்படுவதாக; உன் தேவனுடைய உடன்படிக்கையின் உப்பை உன் போஜனபலியிலே குறையவிடாமல், நீ படைப்பது எல்லாவற்றோடும் உப்பையும் படைப்பாயாக.

And every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt.

முதற்பலன்களை போஜனபலியாக நீ கர்த்தருக்குச் செலுத்தவந்தால், நிறைந்த பச்சையான கதிர்களை நெருப்பிலே வாட்டி உதிர்த்து, அதை உன் முதற்பலனின் போஜனபலியாகக் கொண்டுவரக்கடவாய்.

And if thou offer a meat offering of thy firstfruits unto the LORD, thou shalt offer for the meat offering of thy firstfruits green ears of corn dried by the fire, even corn beaten out of full ears.

அதின்மேல் எண்ணெய் வார்த்து, அதின்மேல் தூபவர்க்கத்தைப் போடுவாயாக; இது ஒரு போஜனபலி.

And thou shalt put oil upon it, and lay frankincense thereon: it is a meat offering.

And the priest shall burn the memorial of it, part of the beaten corn thereof, and part of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof: it is an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

ஒருவன் சமாதானபலியைப் படைக்கவேண்டுமென்று, மாட்டுமந்தையில் எடுத்துச் செலுத்துவானாகில், அது காளையானாலும் சரி, பசுவானாலும் சரி, பழுதற்றிருப்பதை கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் செலுத்தக்கடவன்.

And if his oblation be a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offer it of the herd; whether it be a male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the LORD.

அவன் தன் பலியின் தலைமேல் தன் கையை வைத்து, ஆசரிப்புக் கூடாரவாசலுக்கு முன்பாக அதைக் கொல்லக்கடவன்; அப்பொழுது ஆரோனின் குமாரராகிய ஆசாரியர் அதின் இரத்தத்தைப் பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் சுற்றிலும் தெளிக்கக்கடவர்கள்.

And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering, and kill it at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and Aaron's sons the priests shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about.

பின்பு சமாதான பலியிலே குடல்களைமூடிய கொழுப்பையும், குடல்களிலுள்ள கொழுப்பு முழுவதையும்,

And he shall offer of the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire unto the LORD; the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards,

இரண்டு குண்டிக்காய்களையும், அவைகளின்மேல் சிறு குடல்களினிடத்தில் இருக்கிற கொழுப்பையும், குண்டிக்காய்களோடேகூடக் கல்லீரலின்மேல் இருக்கிற ஜவ்வையும் எடுத்து, கர்த்தருக்குத் தகனபலியாகச் செலுத்துவானாக.

And the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away.

அதை ஆரோனின் குமாரர் பலிபீடத்து அக்கினியிலுள்ள கட்டைகளின்மேல் போட்டிருக்கும் சர்வாங்க தகனபலியின்மீதில் போட்டுத் தகனிக்கக்கடவர்கள்; இது கர்த்தருக்குச் சுகந்த வாசனையான தகனபலி.

And Aaron's sons shall burn it on the altar upon the burnt sacrifice, which is upon the wood that is on the fire: it is an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

அவன் கர்த்தருக்குச் சமாதானபலியைப் படைக்கவேண்டுமென்று ஆட்டு மந்தையிலிருந்து எடுத்துச் செலுத்துவானாகில், அது ஆண் ஆனாலும் சரி, பெண் ஆனாலும் சரி, பழுதற்றிருப்பதைச் செலுத்துவானாக.

And if his offering for a sacrifice of peace offering unto the LORD be of the flock; male or female, he shall offer it without blemish.

If he offer a lamb for his offering, then shall he offer it before the LORD.

And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering, and kill it before the tabernacle of the congregation: and Aaron's sons shall sprinkle the blood thereof round about upon the altar.

And he shall offer of the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire unto the LORD; the fat thereof, and the whole rump, it shall he take off hard by the backbone; and the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards,

And the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, which is by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away.

அதை ஆசாரியன் பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் தகனிக்கக்கடவன்; இது கர்த்தருக்கு இடும் தகன ஆகாரம்.

And the priest shall burn it upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire unto the LORD.

அவன் செலுத்துவது வெள்ளாடாயிருக்குமானால், அவன் அதை கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் கொண்டுவந்து,

And if his offering be a goat, then he shall offer it before the LORD.

அதின் தலைமேல் தன் கையை வைத்து, ஆசரிப்புக் கூடாரத்துக்கு முன்பாக அதைக் கொல்லக்கடவன்; அப்பொழுது ஆரோனின் குமாரர் அதின் இரத்தத்தைப் பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் சுற்றிலும் தெளிக்கக்கடவர்கள்.

And he shall lay his hand upon the head of it, and kill it before the tabernacle of the congregation: and the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle the blood thereof upon the altar round about.

அவன் அதிலே குடல்களை மூடிய கொழுப்பையும், அவைகள் மேலிருக்கிற கொழுப்பு முழுவதையும்,

And he shall offer thereof his offering, even an offering made by fire unto the LORD; the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards,

And the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, which is by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away.

ஆசாரியன் பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் அவைகளைத் தகனிக்கக்கடவன்; இது சுகந்த வாசனையான தகன ஆகாரம்; கொழுப்பு முழுவதும் கர்த்தருடையது.

And the priest shall burn them upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire for a sweet savour: all the fat is the LORD'S.

கொழுப்பையாவது இரத்தத்தையாவது நீங்கள் புசிக்கலாகாது; இது உங்கள் வாசஸ்தலங்கள் எங்கும் உங்கள் தலைமுறைதோறும் நித்திய கட்டளையாயிருக்கும் என்று சொல் என்றார்.

It shall be a perpetual statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings, that ye eat neither fat nor blood.

திபேரியுராயன் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணின பதினைந்தாம் வருஷத்திலே, பொந்தியுபிலாத்து யூதேயாவுக்குத் தேசாதிபதியாயும், ஏரோது காற்பங்கு தேசமாகிய கலிலேயாவுக்கு அதிபதியாயும், அவன் சகோதரனாகிய பிலிப்பு காற்பங்கு தேசமாகிய இத்துரேயாவுக்கும் திராகொனித்தி நாட்டிற்கும் அதிபதியாயும், லிசானியா காற்பங்கு தேசமாகிய அபிலேனேக்கு அதிபதியாயும்,

Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene,

அன்னாவும் காய்பாவும் பிரதானஆசாரியராயும் இருந்தகாலத்தில் வனாந்தரத்திலே சகரியாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோவானுக்கு தேவனுடைய வார்த்தை உண்டாயிற்று.

Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.

அப்பொழுது: கர்த்தருக்கு வழியை ஆயத்தப்படுத்துங்கள், அவருக்குப் பாதைகளைச் செவ்வைபண்ணுங்கள் என்றும்,

And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;

பள்ளங்களெல்லாம் நிரப்பப்படும், சகல மலைகளும் குன்றுகளும் தாழ்த்தப்படும், கோணலானவைகள் செவ்வையாகும், கரடானவைகள் சமமாகும் என்றும்,

As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

மாம்சமான யாவரும் தேவனுடைய இரட்சிப்பைக் காண்பார்கள் என்றும், வனாந்தரத்திலே கூப்பிடுகிறவனுடைய சத்தம் உண்டாகும் என்று ஏசாயா தீர்க்கதரிசியின் ஆகமத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறபிரகாரம்,

Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;

அவன் யோர்தான் நதிக்கு அருகான தேசமெங்கும் போய், பாவமன்னிப்புக்கென்று மனந்திரும்புதலுக்கேற்ற ஞானஸ்நானத்தைக்குறித்துப் பிரசங்கித்தான்.

And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

அவன், தன்னிடத்தில் ஞானஸ்நானம் பெறும்படிக்குப் புறப்பட்டுவந்த திரளான ஜனங்களை நோக்கி: விரியன்பாம்புக் குட்டிகளே! வருங்கோபத்துக்குத் தப்பித்துக்கொள்ள உங்களுக்கு வகைகாட்டினவன் யார்?

Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

மனந்திரும்புதலுக்கு ஏற்ற கனிகளைக் கொடுங்கள்; ஆபிரகாம் எங்களுக்குத் தகப்பன் என்று உங்களுக்குள்ளே சொல்லத்தொடங்காதிருங்கள்; தேவன் இந்தக் கல்லுகளினாலே ஆபிரகாமுக்குப் பிள்ளைகளை உண்டுபண்ண வல்லவராயிருக்கிறார் என்று உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

இப்பொழுதே கோடரியானது மரங்களின் வேர் அருகே வைத்திருக்கிறது; ஆகையால் நல்ல கனிகொடாத மரமெல்லாம் வெட்டுண்டு அக்கினியிலே போடப்படும் என்றான்.

And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

அப்பொழுது ஜனங்கள் அவனை நோக்கி: அப்படியானால் நாங்கள் என்ன செய்யவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டார்கள்.

And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then?

அவர்களுக்கு அவன் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: இரண்டு அங்கிகளையுடையவன் இல்லாதவனுக்குக் கொடுக்கக்கடவன்; ஆகாரத்தை உடையவனும் அப்படியே செய்யக்கடவன் என்றான்.

He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.

ஆயக்காரரும் ஞானஸ்நானம் பெறவந்து, அவனை நோக்கி: போதகரே, நாங்கள் என்ன செய்ய வேண்டும் என்று கேட்டார்கள்.

Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do?

அதற்கு அவன்: உங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டிருக்கிறதற்கு அதிகமாய் ஒன்றும் வாங்காதிருங்கள் என்றான்.

And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you.

போர்ச்சேவகரும் அவனை நோக்கி: நாங்கள் என்ன செய்யவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டார்கள். அதற்கு அவன்: நீங்கள் ஒருவருக்கும் இடுக்கண்செய்யாமலும் பொய்யாய்க் குற்றஞ்சாட்டாமலும், உங்கள் சம்பளமே போதுமென்றும் இருங்கள் என்றான்.

And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.

யோவானைக்குறித்து: இவன்தான் கிறிஸ்துவோ என்று ஜனங்களெல்லாரும் எண்ணங்கொண்டு, தங்கள் இருதயங்களில் யோசனையாயிருக்கையில்,

And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not;

யோவான் எல்லாருக்கும் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: நான் ஜலத்தினால் உங்களுக்கு ஞானஸ்நானங் கொடுக்கிறேன், என்னிலும் வல்லவர் ஒருவர் வருகிறார், அவருடைய பாதரட்சைகளின் வாரை அவிழ்க்கிறதற்கும் நான் பாத்திரன் அல்ல, அவர் பரிசுத்த ஆவியினாலும் அக்கினியினாலும் உங்களுக்கு ஞானஸ்நானங்கொடுப்பார்.

John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:

தூற்றுக்கூடை அவர் கையில் இருக்கிறது, அவர் தமது களத்தை நன்றாய் விளக்கி, கோதுமையைத் தமது களஞ்சியத்தில் சேர்ப்பார்; பதரையோ அவியாத அக்கினியினால் சுட்டெரிப்பார் என்றான்.

Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.

வேறு அநேக புத்திமதிகளையும் அவன் ஜனங்களுக்குச் சொல்லிப் பிரசங்கித்தான்.

And many other things in his exhortation preached he unto the people.

காற்பங்கு தேசாதிபதியாகிய ஏரோது தன் சகோதரனான பிலிப்புவின் மனைவி ஏரோதியாளினிமித்தமாகவும், தான் செய்த மற்றப் பொல்லாங்குகளினிமித்தமாகவும், யோவானாலே கடிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்டபோது,

But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother Philip's wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done,

தான் செய்த மற்றெல்லாப் பொல்லாங்குகளும் தவிர, யோவானையும் காவலில் அடைத்துவைத்தான்.

Added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.

ஜனங்களெல்லாரும் ஞானஸ்நானம்பெற்றபோது, இயேசுவும் ஞானஸ்நானம்பெற்று, ஜெபம்பண்ணுகையில், வானம் திறக்கப்பட்டது;

Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,

பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவர் ரூபங்கொண்டு புறாவைப்போல அவர்மேல் இறங்கினார். வானத்திலிருந்து ஒரு சத்தமும் உண்டாகி: நீர் என்னுடைய நேசகுமாரன், உம்மில் பிரியமாயிருக்கிறேன் என்று உரைத்தது.

And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
