ஆதியாகமம் அத்தியாயம் 8

தேவன் நோவாவையும், அவனுடனே பேழையிலிருந்த சகல காட்டு மிருகங்களையும், சகல நாட்டு மிருகங்களையும் நினைத்தருளினார்; தேவன் பூமியின்மேல் காற்றை வீசப்பண்ணினார், அப்பொழுது ஜலம் அமர்ந்தது.

And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged;

ஆழத்தின் ஊற்றுக்கண்களும், வானத்தின் மதகுகளும் அடைபட்டன; வானத்து மழையும் நின்றுபோயிற்று.

The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained;

ஜலம் பூமியிலிருந்து நாளுக்குநாள் வற்றிக்கொண்டே வந்தது; நூற்றைம்பது நாளுக்குப்பின்பு ஜலம் வடிந்தது.

And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated.

ஏழாம் மாதம் பதினேழாம் தேதியிலே பேழை அரராத் என்னும் மலைகளின்மேல் தங்கிற்று.

And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.

பத்தாம் மாதம் மட்டும் ஜலம் வடிந்துகொண்டே வந்தது; பத்தாம் மாதம் முதல் தேதியிலே மலைச்சிகரங்கள் காணப்பட்டன.

And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen.

நாற்பது நாள் சென்றபின், நோவா தான் பேழையில் செய்திருந்த ஜன்னலைத் திறந்து,

And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made:

ஒரு காகத்தை வெளியே விட்டான்; அது புறப்பட்டுப் பூமியின்மேல் இருந்த ஜலம் வற்றிப்போகும்வரைக்கும் போகிறதும் வருகிறதுமாய் இருந்தது.

And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth.

பின்பு பூமியின்மேல் ஜலம் குறைந்து போயிற்றோ என்று அறியும்படி, ஒரு புறாவைத் தன்னிடத்திலிருந்து வெளியே விட்டான்.

Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground;

பூமியின்மீதெங்கும் ஜலம் இருந்தபடியால், அந்தப் புறா தன் உள்ளங்கால் வைத்து இளைப்பாற இடம் காணாமல், திரும்பிப் பேழையிலே அவனிடத்தில் வந்தது; அவன் தன் கையை நீட்டி அதைப்பிடித்துத் தன்னிடமாகப் பேழைக்குள் சேர்த்துக்கொண்டான்.

But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark.

பின்னும் ஏழு நாள் பொறுத்து, மறுபடியும் புறாவைப் பேழையிலிருந்து வெளியே விட்டான்.

And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark;

அந்தப் புறா சாயங்காலத்தில் அவனிடத்தில் வந்து சேர்ந்தது; இதோ, அது கொத்திக்கொண்டுவந்த ஒரு ஒலிவமரத்தின் இலை அதின் வாயில் இருந்தது; அதினாலே நோவா பூமியின்மேல் ஜலம் குறைந்துபோயிற்று என்று அறிந்தான்.

And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.

பின்னும் ஏழு நாள் பொறுத்து, அவன் புறாவை வெளியே விட்டான்; அது அவனிடத்திற்குத் திரும்பி வரவில்லை.

And he stayed yet other seven days; and sent forth the dove; which returned not again unto him any more.

அவனுக்கு அறுநூற்றொரு வயதாகும் வருஷத்தில், முதல் மாதம் முதல் தேதியிலே பூமியின்மேல் இருந்த ஜலம் வற்றிப்போயிற்று; நோவா பேழையின் மேல்தட்டை எடுத்துப்பார்த்தான்; பூமியின்மேல் ஜலம் இல்லாதிருந்தது.

And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.

இரண்டாம் மாதம் இருபத்தேழாம் தேதியிலே பூமி காய்ந்திருந்தது.

And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried.

அப்பொழுது தேவன் நோவாவை நோக்கி:

And God spake unto Noah, saying,

நீயும், உன்னோடேகூட உன் மனைவியும், உன் குமாரரும், உன் குமாரரின் மனைவிகளும் பேழையை விட்டுப் புறப்படுங்கள்.

Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons' wives with thee.

உன்னிடத்தில் இருக்கிற சகலவித மாம்சஜந்துக்களாகிய பறவைகளையும், மிருகங்களையும், பூமியின்மேல் ஊருகிற சகல பிராணிகளையும் உன்னோடே வெளியே வரவிடு; அவைகள் பூமியிலே திரளாய் வர்த்தித்து, பூமியின்மேல் பலுகிப் பெருகக்கடவது என்றார்.

Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.

அப்பொழுது நோவாவும், அவன் குமாரரும், அவன் மனைவியும், அவன் குமாரரின் மனைவிகளும் புறப்பட்டு வந்தார்கள்.

And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him:

பூமியின்மேல் நடமாடுகிற சகல மிருகங்களும், ஊருகிற சகல பிராணிகளும், சகல பறவைகளும் ஜாதிஜாதியாய்ப் பேழையிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு வந்தன.

Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark.

அப்பொழுது நோவா கர்த்தருக்கு ஒரு பலிபீடம் கட்டி, சுத்தமான சகல மிருகங்களிலும், சுத்தமான சகல பறவைகளிலும் சிலவற்றைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டு, அவைகளைப் பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் தகனபலிகளாகப் பலியிட்டான்.

And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

சுகந்த வாசனையைக் கர்த்தர் முகர்ந்தார். அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர்: இனி நான் மனுஷன் நிமித்தம் பூமியைச் சபிப்பதில்லை; மனுஷனுடைய இருதயத்தின் நினைவுகள் அவன் சிறுவயது தொடங்கி பொல்லாததாயிருக்கிறது; நான் இப்பொழுது செய்ததுபோல, இனி சகல ஜீவன்களையும் சங்கரிப்பதில்லை.

And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

பூமியுள்ள நாளளவும் விதைப்பும் அறுப்பும், சீதளமும் உஷ்ணமும், கோடைகாலமும் மாரிகாலமும், பகலும் இரவும் ஒழிவதில்லை என்று தம்முடைய உள்ளத்தில் சொன்னார்.

While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

ஆதியாகமம் அத்தியாயம் 9

பின்பு தேவன் நோவாவையும், அவன் குமாரரையும் ஆசீர்வதித்து: நீங்கள் பலுகிப் பெருகி, பூமியை நிரப்புங்கள்.

And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.

உங்களைப்பற்றிய பயமும் அச்சமும் பூமியிலுள்ள சகல மிருகங்களுக்கும், ஆகாயத்திலுள்ள சகல பறவைகளுக்கும் உண்டாயிருக்கும்; பூமியிலே நடமாடுகிற யாவும், சமுத்திரத்தின் மச்சங்கள் யாவும், உங்களுக்குக் கையளிக்கப்பட்டன.

And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.

நடமாடுகிற ஜீவஜந்துக்கள் யாவும், உங்களுக்கு ஆகாரமாய் இருப்பதாக; பசும் பூண்டுகளை உங்களுக்குத் தந்தது போல, அவைகள் எல்லாவற்றையும் உங்களுக்குத் தந்தேன்.

Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.

மாம்சத்தை அதின் உயிராகிய இரத்தத்தோடே புசிக்கவேண்டாம்.

But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.

உங்களுக்கு உயிராயிருக்கிற உங்கள் இரத்தத்திற்காகப் பழிவாங்குவேன்; சகல ஜீவஜந்துக்களிடத்திலும் மனுஷனிடத்திலும் பழிவாங்குவேன்; மனுஷனுடைய உயிருக்காக அவனவன் சகோதரனிடத்தில் பழிவாங்குவேன்.

And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man.

மனுஷன் தேவசாயலில் உண்டாக்கப்பட்டபடியால், மனுஷனுடைய இரத்தத்தை எவன் சிந்துகிறானோ, அவனுடைய இரத்தம் மனுஷனாலே சிந்தப்படக்கடவது.

Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

நீங்கள் பலுகிப் பெருகி, பூமியிலே திரளாய் வர்த்தித்து விர்த்தியாகுங்கள் என்றார்.

And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.

பின்னும் தேவன் நோவாவையும், அவன் குமாரரையும் நோக்கி:

And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,

நான் உங்களோடும், உங்களுக்குப் பின்வரும் உங்கள் சந்ததியோடும்,

And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;

உங்களோடே பேழையிலிருந்து புறப்பட்ட சகல ஜீவஜந்துக்கள்முதல் இனிப் பூமியில் உண்டாகப்போகிற சகல ஜீவஜந்துக்கள்பரியந்தம், பறவைகளோடும், நாட்டு மிருகங்களோடும், உங்களிடத்தில் இருக்கிற பூமியிலுள்ள சகல காட்டு மிருகங்களோடும் என் உடன்படிக்கையை ஏற்படுத்துகிறேன்.

And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.

இனி மாம்சமானவைகளெல்லாம் ஜலப்பிரளயத்தினால் சங்கரிக்கப்படுவதில்லையென்றும், பூமியை அழிக்க இனி ஜலப்பிரளயம் உண்டாவதில்லையென்றும், உங்களோடே என் உடன்படிக்கையை ஏற்படுத்துகிறேன் என்றார்.

And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.

அன்றியும் தேவன்: எனக்கும் உங்களுக்கும், உங்களிடத்தில் இருக்கும் சகல ஜீவஜந்துக்களுக்கும், நித்திய தலைமுறைகளுக்கென்று நான் செய்கிற உடன்படிக்கையின் அடையாளமாக:

And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:

நான் என் வில்லை மேகத்தில் வைத்தேன்; அது எனக்கும் பூமிக்கும் உண்டான உடன்படிக்கைக்கு அடையாளமாயிருக்கும்.

I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.

நான் பூமிக்கு மேலாய் மேகத்தை வருவிக்கும்போது, அந்த வில் மேகத்தில் தோன்றும்.

And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:

அப்பொழுது எல்லா மாம்சஜீவன்களையும் அழிக்க இனி ஜலமானது பிரளயமாய்ப் பெருகாதபடிக்கு எனக்கும் உங்களுக்கும் மாம்சமான சகல ஜீவஜந்துக்களுக்கும் உண்டான என் உடன்படிக்கையை நினைவுகூருவேன்.

And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.

அந்த வில் மேகத்தில் தோன்றும்போது, தேவனுக்கும் பூமியின்மேலுள்ள சகலவித மாம்சஜீவன்களுக்கும் உண்டான நித்திய உடன்படிக்கையை நான் நினைவுகூரும்படிக்கு அதை நோக்கிப்பார்ப்பேன்.

And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.

இது எனக்கும், பூமியின்மேலுள்ள மாம்சமான யாவுக்கும், நான் ஏற்படுத்தின உடன்படிக்கையின் அடையாளம் என்று நோவாவோடே சொன்னார்.

And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.

பேழையிலிருந்து புறப்பட்ட நோவாவின் குமாரர், சேம், காம், யாப்பேத் என்பவர்களே. காம் கானானுக்குத் தகப்பன்.

And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan.

இம்மூவரும் நோவாவின் குமாரர்; இவர்களாலே பூமியெங்கும் ஜனங்கள் பரம்பினார்கள்.

These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread.

நோவா பயிரிடுகிறவனாகி, திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தை நாட்டினான்.

And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:

அவன் திராட்சரசத்தைக் குடித்து, வெறிகொண்டு, தன் கூடாரத்தில் வஸ்திரம் விலகிப் படுத்திருந்தான்.

And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.

அப்பொழுது கானானுக்குத் தகப்பனாகிய காம் தன் தகப்பனுடைய நிர்வாணத்தைத் கண்டு, வெளியில் இருந்த தன் சகோதரர் இருவருக்கும் அறிவித்தான்.

And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.

அப்பொழுது சேமும், யாப்பேத்தும் ஒரு வஸ்திரத்தை எடுத்துத் தங்கள் இருவருடைய தோள்மேலும் போட்டுக்கொண்டு, பின்னிட்டு வந்து, தங்கள் தகப்பனுடைய நிர்வாணத்தை மூடினார்கள்; அவர்கள் எதிர்முகமாய்ப் போகாதபடியினால், தங்கள் தகப்பனுடைய நிர்வாணத்தைக் காணவில்லை.

And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.

நோவா திராட்சரசத்தின் வெறி தெளிந்து விழித்தபோது, தன் இளையகுமாரன் தனக்குச் செய்ததை அறிந்து:

And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.

கானான் சபிக்கப்பட்டவன், தன் சகோதரரிடத்தில் அடிமைகளுக்கு அடிமையாயிருப்பான் என்றான்.

And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.

சேமுடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு ஸ்தோத்திரம் உண்டாவதாக; கானான் அவனுக்கு அடிமையாயிருப்பான்.

And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

யாப்பேத்தை தேவன் விர்த்தியாக்குவார்; அவன் சேமுடைய கூடாரங்களில் குடியிருப்பான்; கானான் அவனுக்கு அடிமையாயிருப்பான் என்றான்.

God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

ஜலப்பிரளயத்துக்குப்பின்பு நோவா முந்நூற்று ஐம்பது வருஷம் உயிரோடிருந்தான்.

And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years.

நோவாவின் நாட்களெல்லாம் தொளாயிரத்து ஐம்பது வருஷம்; அவன் மரித்தான்.

And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years: and he died.

ஆதியாகமம் அத்தியாயம் 10

நோவாவின் குமாரராகிய சேம், காம், யாப்பேத் என்பவர்களின் வம்சவரலாறு: ஜலப்பிரளயத்துக்குப்பின்பு அவர்களுக்குக் குமாரர் பிறந்தார்கள்.

Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.

யாப்பேத்தின் குமாரர், கோமர், மாகோகு, மாதாய், யாவான், தூபால், மேசேக்கு, தீராஸ் என்பவர்கள்.

The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.

கோமரின் குமாரர், அஸ்கினாஸ், ரீப்பாத்து, தொகர்மா என்பவர்கள்.

And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.

யாவானின் குமாரர், எலீசா, தர்ஷீஸ், கித்தீம், தொதானீம் என்பவர்கள்.

And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.

இவர்களால் ஜாதிகளுடைய தீவுகள், அவனவன் பாஷையின்படியேயும், அவரவர்கள் கோத்திரத்தின்படியேயும், ஜாதியின்படியேயும், வேறுவேறு தேசங்களாய்ப் பகுக்கப்பட்டன.

By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.

காமுடைய குமாரர், கூஷ், மிஸ்ராயீம், பூத், கானான் என்பவர்கள்.

And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan.

கூஷூடைய குமாரர், சேபா, ஆவிலா, சப்தா, ராமா, சப்திகா என்பவர்கள். ராமாவின் குமாரர், சேபா, திதான் என்பவர்கள்.

And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtecha: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan.

கூஷ் நிம்ரோதைப் பெற்றான்; இவன் பூமியிலே பராக்கிரமசாலியானான்.

And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.

இவன் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாகப் பலத்த வேட்டைக்காரனாயிருந்தான்; ஆகையால், கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாகப் பலத்த வேட்டைக்காரனான நிம்ரோதைப்போல என்னும் வழக்கச்சொல் உண்டாயிற்று.

He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD.

சிநெயார் தேசத்திலுள்ள பாபேல், ஏரேக், அக்காத், கல்னே என்னும் இடங்கள் அவன் ஆண்ட ராஜ்யத்திற்கு ஆதி ஸ்தானங்கள்.

And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

அந்தத் தேசத்திலிருந்து அசூர் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், நினிவேயையும், ரெகொபோத் பட்டணத்தையும், காலாகையும்,

Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah,

நினிவேக்கும் காலாகுக்கும் நடுவாக ரெசேனையும் கட்டினான்; இது பெரிய பட்டணம்.

And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city.

மிஸ்ராயீம், லூதீமையும், அனாமீமையும், லெகாபீமையும், நப்தூகீமையும்,

And Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim,

பத்ருசீமையும், பெலிஸ்தரின் சந்ததிக்குத் தலைவனாகிய கஸ்லூகீமையும், கப்தொரீமையும் பெற்றான்.

And Pathrusim, and Casluhim, (out of whom came Philistim,) and Caphtorim.

கானான் தன் மூத்தமகனாகிய சீதோனையும், கேத்தையும்,

And Canaan begat Sidon his firstborn, and Heth,

எபூசியரையும், எமோரியரையும், கிர்காசியரையும்,

And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite,

ஈவியரையும், அர்கீரியரையும், சீநியரையும்,

And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite,

அர்வாதியரையும், செமாரியரையும், காமாத்தியரையும் பெற்றான்; பின்பு கானானியரின் வம்சத்தார் எங்கும் பரவினார்கள்.

And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad.

கானானியரின் எல்லை, சீதோன் முதல் கேரார் வழியாய்க் காசாமட்டுக்கும், அது முதல் சோதோம், கொமோரா, அத்மா, செபோயிம் வழியாய் லாசாமட்டுக்கும் இருந்தது.

And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.

இவர்கள் தங்கள் தேசங்களிலும், தங்கள் ஜாதிகளிலுமுள்ள தங்கள் வம்சங்களின்படியேயும், தங்கள் பாஷைகளின்படியேயும் காமுடைய சந்ததியார்.

These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations.

சேமுக்கும் பிள்ளைகள் பிறந்தார்கள்; அவன் ஏபேருடைய சந்ததியார் எல்லாருக்கும் தகப்பனும், மூத்தவனாகிய யாப்பேத்துக்குத் தம்பியுமாய் இருந்தான்.

Unto Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the brother of Japheth the elder, even to him were children born.

சேமுடைய குமாரர், ஏலாம், அசூர், அர்பக்சாத், லூத், ஆராம் என்பவர்கள்.

The children of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.

ஆராமுடைய குமாரர், ஊத்ஸ், கூல், கேத்தெர், மாஸ் என்பவர்கள்.

And the children of Aram; Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash.

அர்பக்சாத் சாலாவைப் பெற்றான்; சாலா ஏபேரைப் பெற்றான்.

And Arphaxad begat Salah; and Salah begat Eber.

ஏபேருக்கு இரண்டு குமாரர் பிறந்தார்கள்; ஒருவனுக்குப் பேலேகு என்று பேர்; ஏனெனில் அவனுடைய நாட்களில் பூமி பகுக்கப்பட்டது; அவனுடைய சகோதரன் பேர் யொக்தான்.

And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother's name was Joktan.

யொக்தான் அல்மோதாதையும், சாலேப்பையும், அசர்மாவேத்தையும், யேராகையும்,

And Joktan begat Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah,

அதோராமையும், ஊசாலையும், திக்லாவையும்,

And Hadoram, and Uzal, and Diklah,

ஓபாலையும், அபிமாவேலையும், சேபாவையும்,

And Obal, and Abimael, and Sheba,

ஒப்பீரையும், ஆவிலாவையும், யோபாபையும் பெற்றான்; இவர்கள் அனைவரும் யொக்தானுடைய குமாரர்.

And Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab: all these were the sons of Joktan.

இவர்களுடைய குடியிருப்பு மேசா துவக்கி, கிழக்கேயுள்ள மலையாகிய செப்பாருக்குப் போகிற வழிமட்டும் இருந்தது.

And their dwelling was from Mesha, as thou goest unto Sephar a mount of the east.

இவர்களே தங்கள் தேசங்களிலும், தங்கள் ஜாதிகளிலுமுள்ள தங்கள் வம்சங்களின்படியேயும், தங்கள் பாஷைகளின்படியேயும் சேமுடைய சந்ததியார்.

These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.

தங்கள் ஜாதிகளிலுள்ள தங்களுடைய சந்ததிகளின்படியே நோவாவுடைய குமாரரின் வம்சங்கள் இவைகளே; ஜலப்பிரளயத்துக்குப்பின்பு இவர்களால் பூமியிலே ஜாதிகள் பிரிந்தன.

These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.

மத்தேயு அத்தியாயம் 6

மனுஷர் காணவேண்டுமென்று அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக உங்கள் தர்மத்தைச் செய்யாதபடிக்கு எச்சரிக்கையாயிருங்கள்; செய்தால், பரலோகத்திலிருக்கிற உங்கள் பிதாவினிடத்தில் உங்களுக்குப் பலனில்லை.

Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

ஆகையால் நீ தர்மஞ்செய்யும்போது, மனுஷரால் புகழப்படுவதற்கு, மாயக்காரர் ஆலயங்களிலும் வீதிகளிலும் செய்வதுபோல, உனக்கு முன்பாகத் தாரை ஊதுவியாதே; அவர்கள் தங்கள் பலனை அடைந்து தீர்ந்ததென்று மெய்யாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

நீயோ தர்மஞ்செய்யும்போது, உன் தர்மம் அந்தரங்கமாயிருப்பதற்கு, உன் வலதுகை செய்கிறதை உன் இடதுகை அறியாதிருக்கக்கடவது.

But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

அப்பொழுது அந்தரங்கத்தில் பார்க்கிற உன் பிதா தாமே உனக்கு வெளியரங்கமாய்ப் பலனளிப்பார்.

That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

அன்றியும் நீ ஜெபம்பண்ணும்போது மாயக்காரரைப்போலிருக்கவேண்டாம்; மனுஷர் காணும்படியாக அவர்கள் ஜெப ஆலயங்களிலும் வீதிகளின் சந்திகளிலும் நின்று ஜெபம்பண்ண விரும்புகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் தங்கள் பலனை அடைந்து தீர்ந்ததென்று மெய்யாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

நீயோ ஜெபம்பண்ணும்போது, உன் அறைவீட்டுக்குள் பிரவேசித்து, உன் கதவைப் பூட்டி, அந்தரங்கத்திலிருக்கிற உன் பிதாவை நோக்கி ஜெபம்பண்ணு; அப்பொழுது அந்தரங்கத்தில்பார்க்கிற உன் பிதா வெளியரங்கமாய் உனக்குப் பலனளிப்பார்.

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

அன்றியும் நீங்கள் ஜெபம்பண்ணும்போது, அஞ்ஞானிகளைப்போல வீண்வார்த்தைகளை அலப்பாதேயுங்கள்; அவர்கள், அதிக வசனிப்பினால் தங்கள் ஜெபம் கேட்கப்படுமென்று நினைக்கிறார்கள்.

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

அவர்களைப்போல நீங்கள் செய்யாதிருங்கள்; உங்கள் பிதாவை நோக்கி நீங்கள் வேண்டிக்கொள்ளுகிறதற்கு முன்னமே உங்களுக்கு இன்னது தேவை என்று அவர் அறிந்திருக்கிறார்.

Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

நீங்கள் ஜெபம்பண்ணவேண்டியவிதமாவது: பரமண்டலங்களிலிருக்கிற எங்கள் பிதாவே, உம்முடைய நாமம் பரிசுத்தப்படுவதாக.

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

உம்முடைய ராஜ்யம் வருவதாக; உம்முடைய சித்தம் பரமண்டலத்திலே செய்யப்படுகிறதுபோல பூமியிலேயும் செய்யப்படுவதாக.

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

எங்களுக்கு வேண்டிய ஆகாரத்தை இன்று எங்களுக்குத் தாரும்.

Give us this day our daily bread.

எங்கள் கடனாளிகளுக்கு நாங்கள் மன்னிக்கிறதுபோல எங்கள் கடன்களை எங்களுக்கு மன்னியும்.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

எங்களைச் சோதனைக்குட்படப்பண்ணாமல், தீமையினின்று எங்களை இரட்சித்துக்கொள்ளும், ராஜ்யமும், வல்லமையும், மகிமையும் என்றென்றைக்கும் உம்முடையவைகளே, ஆமென், என்பதே.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

மனுஷருடைய தப்பிதங்களை நீங்கள் அவர்களுக்கு மன்னித்தால், உங்கள் பரமபிதா உங்களுக்கும் மன்னிப்பார்.

For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

மனுஷருடைய தப்பிதங்களை நீங்கள் அவர்களுக்கு மன்னியாதிருந்தால், உங்கள் பிதா உங்கள் தப்பிதங்களையும் மன்னியாதிருப்பார்.

But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

நீங்கள் உபவாசிக்கும்போது, மாயக்காரரைப்போல முகவாடலாய் இராதேயுங்கள்; அவர்கள் உபவாசிக்கிறதை மனுஷர் காணும்பொருட்டாக, தங்கள் முகங்களை வாடப்பண்ணுகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் தங்கள் பலனை அடைந்து தீர்ந்ததென்று, மெய்யாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

நீயோ உபவாசிக்கும்போது, இந்த உபவாசம் மனுஷர்களுக்குக் காணப்படாமல், அந்தரங்கத்தில் இருக்கிற உன் பிதாவுக்கே காணப்படும்படியாக, உன் தலைக்கு எண்ணெய் பூசி, உன் முகத்தைக் கழுவு.

But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;

அப்பொழுது, அந்தரங்கத்தில் பார்க்கிற உன் பிதா உனக்கு வெளியரங்கமாய்ப் பலனளிப்பார்.

That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

பூமியிலே உங்களுக்குப் பொக்கிஷங்களைச் சேர்த்துவைக்கவேண்டாம்; இங்கே பூச்சியும் துருவும் அவைகளைக் கெடுக்கும்; இங்கே திருடரும் கன்னமிட்டுத் திருடுவார்கள்.

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

பரலோகத்திலே உங்களுக்குப் பொக்கிஷங்களைச் சேர்த்துவையுங்கள்; அங்கே பூச்சியாவது துருவாவது கெடுக்கிறதும் இல்லை; அங்கே திருடர் கன்னமிட்டுத் திருடுகிறதும் இல்லை.

But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

உங்கள் பொக்கிஷம் எங்கேயிருக்கிறதோ அங்கே உங்கள் இருதயமும் இருக்கும்.

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

கண்ணானது சரீரத்தின் விளக்காயிருக்கிறது; உன் கண் தெளிவாயிருந்தால், உன் சரீரம் முழுவதும் வெளிச்சமாயிருக்கும்.

The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

உன் கண் கெட்டதாயிருந்தால், உன் சரீரம் முழுவதும் இருளாயிருக்கும்; இப்படி உன்னிலுள்ள வெளிச்சம் இருளாயிருந்தால், அவ்விருள் எவ்வளவு அதிகமாயிருக்கும்!

But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

இரண்டு எஜமான்களுக்கு ஊழியஞ்செய்ய ஒருவனாலும் கூடாது; ஒருவனைப் பகைத்து, மற்றவனைச் சிநேகிப்பான்; அல்லது ஒருவனைப் பற்றிக்கொண்டு, மற்றவனை அசட்டைபண்ணுவான்; தேவனுக்கும் உலகப்பொருளுக்கும் ஊழியஞ்செய்ய உங்களால் கூடாது.

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

ஆகையால், என்னத்தை உண்போம், என்னத்தைக் குடிப்போம் என்று உங்கள் ஜீவனுக்காகவும்; என்னத்தை உடுப்போம் என்று உங்கள் சரீரத்துக்காகவும் கவலைப்படாதிருங்கள் என்று, உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்; ஆகாரத்தைப்பார்க்கிலும் ஜீவனும், உடையைப்பார்க்கிலும் சரீரமும் விசேஷித்தவைகள் அல்லவா?

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

ஆகாயத்துப் பட்சிகளைக் கவனித்துப்பாருங்கள்; அவைகள் விதைக்கிறதுமில்லை, அறுக்கிறதுமில்லை, களஞ்சியங்களில் சேர்த்துவைக்கிறதுமில்லை; அவைகளையும் உங்கள் பரமபிதா பிழைப்பூட்டுகிறார்; அவைகளைப்பார்க்கிலும் நீங்கள் விசேஷித்தவர்கள் அல்லவா?

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

கவலைப்படுகிறதினாலே உங்களில் எவன் தன் சரீர அளவோடு ஒரு முழத்தைக் கூட்டுவான்?

Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

உடைக்காகவும் நீங்கள் கவலைப்படுகிறதென்ன? காட்டுப் புஷ்பங்கள் எப்படி வளருகிறதென்று கவனித்துப்பாருங்கள்; அவைகள் உழைக்கிறதுமில்லை, நூற்கிறதுமில்லை;

And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

என்றாலும், சாலொமோன் முதலாய் தன் சர்வ மகிமையிலும் அவைகளில் ஒன்றைப்போலாகிலும் உடுத்தியிருந்ததில்லை என்று, உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

அற்ப விசுவாசிகளே! இன்றைக்கு இருந்து நாளைக்கு அடுப்பிலே போடப்படும் காட்டுப் புல்லுக்கு தேவன் இவ்விதமாக உடுத்துவித்தால், உங்களுக்கு உடுத்துவிப்பது அதிக நிச்சயமல்லவா?

Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

ஆகையால், என்னத்தை உண்போம், என்னத்தைக் குடிப்போம், என்னத்தை உடுப்போம் என்று, கவலைப்படாதிருங்கள்.

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

இவைகளையெல்லாம் அஞ்ஞானிகள் நாடித்தேடுகிறார்கள்; இவைகளெல்லாம் உங்களுக்கு வேண்டியவைகள் என்று உங்கள் பரமபிதா அறிந்திருக்கிறார்.

For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

முதலாவது தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யத்தையும் அவருடைய நீதியையும் தேடுங்கள், அப்பொழுது இவைகளெல்லாம் உங்களுக்குக்கூடக் கொடுக்கப்படும்.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

ஆகையால், நாளைக்காகக் கவலைப்படாதிருங்கள்; நாளையத்தினம் தன்னுடையவைகளுக்காகக் கவலைப்படும்; அந்தந்த நாளுக்கு அதினதின் பாடுபோதும்.

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
