எரேமியா அத்தியாயம் 39

யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய சிதேக்கியா அரசாண்ட ஒன்பதாம் வருஷம் பத்தாம் மாதத்திலே பாபிலோன் ராஜாவாகிய நேபுகாத்நேச்சாரும் அவனுடைய எல்லா இராணுவமும் எருசலேமுக்கு விரோதமாய் வந்து, அதை முற்றிக்கைபோட்டார்கள்.

In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, came Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his army against Jerusalem, and they besieged it.

சிதேக்கியா அரசாண்ட பதினோராம் வருஷம் நாலாம் மாதம், ஒன்பதாம் தேதியிலே நகரத்து மதிலில் திறப்புக்கண்டது.

And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, the city was broken up.

அப்பொழுது பாபிலோன் ராஜாவின் பிரபுக்களாகிய நெர்கல்சரேத்சேர், சம்கார்நேபோ, சர்சேகிம், ரப்சாரீஸ், நெர்கல் சரேத்சேர், ரப்மாக் என்பவர்களும், பாபிலோன் ராஜாவின் மற்ற எல்லாப் பிரபுக்களும் உட்பிரவேசித்து, நடுவாசலில் இருந்தார்கள்.

And all the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate, even Nergalsharezer, Samgarnebo, Sarsechim, Rabsaris, Nergalsharezer, Rabmag, with all the residue of the princes of the king of Babylon.

அப்பொழுது யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய சிதேக்கியாவும் சகல யுத்த மனுஷரும் அவர்களைக் கண்டபோது, ஓடி, இராத்திரிகாலத்தில் ராஜாவுடைய தோட்டத்துவழியே, இரண்டு மதில்களுக்கு நடுவான வாசலால் நகரத்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள்; அவன் வயல்வெளியின் வழியே போய்விட்டான்.

And it came to pass, that when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king's garden, by the gate betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.

ஆனாலும், கல்தேயருடைய இராணுவம் அவர்களைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து, எரிகோவின் சமபூமியில் சிதேக்கியாவைக் கிட்டி, அவனைப்பிடித்து, அவனை ஆமாத் தேசத்தின் ஊராகிய ரிப்லாவுக்கு, பாபிலோன் ராஜாவாகிய நேபுகாத்நேச்சாரிடத்தில் கொண்டுபோனார்கள்; அங்கே இவன் அவனைக் குறித்துத் தீர்ப்புச்செய்தான்.

But the Chaldeans' army pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him.

பின்பு பாபிலோன் ராஜா ரிப்லாவிலே, சிதேக்கியாவின் குமாரரை அவன் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக வெட்டுவித்தான்; யூதா பிரபுக்கள் அனைவரையும் பாபிலோன் ராஜா வெட்டி,

Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah.

சிதேக்கியாவின் கண்களைக்கெடுத்து, அவனைப் பாபிலோனுக்குக் கொண்டுபோக அவனுக்கு இரண்டு வெண்கல விலங்குகளைப்போட்டான்.

Moreover he put out Zedekiah's eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon.

கல்தேயர் ராஜாவின் அரமனையையும் ஜனத்தின் வீடுகளையும் அக்கினியால் சுட்டெரித்து, எருசலேமின் மதில்களை இடித்துப்போட்டார்கள்.

And the Chaldeans burned the king's house, and the houses of the people, with fire, and brake down the walls of Jerusalem.

நகரத்தில் தங்கியிருந்த ஜனங்களையும், தன் பட்சத்தில் ஓடிவந்துவிட்டவர்களையும், மீதியான மற்ற ஜனங்களையும், காவற்சேனாதிபதியாகிய நேபுசராதான் பாபிலோனுக்குச் சிறைகளாகக் கொண்டுபோனான்.

Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive into Babylon the remnant of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to him, with the rest of the people that remained.

காவற்சேனாதிபதியாகிய நேபுசராதான் ஒன்றுமில்லாத ஏழைகளில் சிலரை யூதா தேசத்திலே வைத்து, அவர்களுக்கு அந்நாளிலே திராட்சத்தோட்டங்களையும் வயல்நிலங்களையும் கொடுத்தான்.

But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, which had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.

ஆனாலும் எரேமியாவைக் குறித்து, பாபிலோன் ராஜாவாகிய நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் காவற்சேனாதிபதியாகிய நேபுசராதானை நோக்கி:

Now Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon gave charge concerning Jeremiah to Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, saying,

நீ அவனை அழைப்பித்து, அவனுக்கு ஒரு பொல்லாப்பும் செய்யாமல், அவனைப் பத்திரமாய்ப் பார்த்து, அவன் உன்னோடே சொல்லுகிறபடியெல்லாம் அவனை நடத்தென்று கட்டளைகொடுத்தான்.

Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do unto him even as he shall say unto thee.

அப்படியே காவற்சேனாதிபதியாகிய நேபுசராதானும், நேபுசஸ்பான், ரப்சாரீஸ், நெர்கல்சரேத்சேர், ரப்மாக் என்பவர்களும், பாபிலோன் ராஜாவின் எல்லாப் பிரபுக்களும்,

So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard sent, and Nebushasban, Rabsaris, and Nergalsharezer, Rabmag, and all the king of Babylon's princes;

எரேமியாவைக் காவற்சாலையின் முற்றத்திலிருந்து வரவழைத்து, அவனை வெளியே வீட்டுக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோகும்படிக்கு அவனைச் சாப்பானுடைய குமாரனாகிய அகிக்காமின் மகனான கெதலியாவினிடத்தில் ஒப்புவித்தார்கள்; அப்படியே அவன் ஜனத்துக்குள்ளே தங்கியிருந்தான்.

Even they sent, and took Jeremiah out of the court of the prison, and committed him unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, that he should carry him home: so he dwelt among the people.

இதுவுமல்லாமல், எரேமியா இன்னும் காவற்சாலையின் முற்றத்திலே அடைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கையில், அவனுக்குக் கர்த்தரால் உண்டான வசனம்:

Now the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah, while he was shut up in the court of the prison, saying,

நீ போய், எத்தியோப்பியனாகிய எபெத்மெலேக்குக்குச் சொல்ல வேண்டியது என்னவென்றால், இதோ, என்னுடைய வார்த்தைகளை இந்த நகரத்தின்மேல் நன்மையாக அல்ல, தீமையாகவே வரப்பண்ணுவேன்; அவைகள் அந்நாளிலே உன் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக நிறைவேறும் என்று இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய சேனைகளின் கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

Go and speak to Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished in that day before thee.

ஆனால் அந்நாளிலே உன்னைத் தப்புவிப்பேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்; நீ பயப்படுகிற மனுஷரின் கையிலே ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்படுவதில்லை.

But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the LORD: and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid.

உன்னை நிச்சயமாக விடுவிப்பேன், நீ பட்டயத்துக்கு இரையாவதில்லை; நீ என்னை நம்பினபடியினால் உன் பிராணன் உனக்குக் கிடைத்த கொள்ளைப்பொருளைப்போல இருக்குமென்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றார்.

For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the LORD.

எரேமியா அத்தியாயம் 40

பாபிலோனுக்குக் கொண்டுபோகும்படி எருசலேமிலும் யூதாவிலும் சிறைகளாய்ப் பிடித்துவைக்கப்பட்ட ஜனங்களுக்குள் விலங்கிடப்பட்டிருந்த எரேமியாவைக் காவற்சேனாதிபதியாகிய நேபுசராதான் விடுதலையாக்கி ராமாவிலிருந்து அனுப்பிவிட்டபின்பு, எரேமியாவுக்குக் கர்த்தரால் உண்டான வசனம்:

The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, after that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all that were carried away captive of Jerusalem and Judah, which were carried away captive unto Babylon.

காவற்சேனாதிபதி எரேமியாவை அழைப்பித்து, அவனை நோக்கி: உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் இந்த ஸ்தலத்துக்கு இந்தத் தீங்கு வருமென்று சொல்லியிருந்தார்.

And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said unto him, The LORD thy God hath pronounced this evil upon this place.

தாம் சொன்னபடியே கர்த்தர் வரப்பண்ணியுமிருக்கிறார்; நீங்கள் கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பாவஞ்செய்து, அவருடைய சத்தத்துக்குச் செவிகொடாமற்போனீர்கள்; ஆகையால் உங்களுக்கு இந்தக் காரியம் வந்தது.

Now the LORD hath brought it, and done according as he hath said: because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing is come upon you.

இப்போதும், இதோ, உன் கைகளிலிடப்பட்ட விலங்குகளை இன்று நீக்கிப்போட்டேன்; என்னோடேகூடப் பாபிலோனுக்கு வர உனக்கு நன்மையாய்த் தோன்றினால் வா, நான் உன்னைப் பத்திரமாய்ப் பார்த்துக்கொள்வேன்; என்னோடேகூடப் பாபிலோனுக்கு வர உனக்கு நன்றாய்த் தோன்றாவிட்டால், இருக்கட்டும்; இதோ, தேசமெல்லாம் உனக்கு முன்பாக இருக்கிறது, எவ்விடத்துக்குப்போக உனக்கு நன்மையும் செவ்வையுமாய்க் காண்கிறதோ அவ்விடத்துக்குப் போ என்றான்.

And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which were upon thine hand. If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well unto thee: but if it seem ill unto thee to come with me into Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land is before thee: whither it seemeth good and convenient for thee to go, thither go.

அவன் இன்னும் போகாமலிருக்கும்போது, அவன் இவனை நோக்கி: நீ பாபிலோன் ராஜா யூதா பட்டணங்களின்மேல் அதிகாரியாக வைத்த சாப்பானுடைய குமாரனாகிய அகிக்காமின் மகனான கெதலியாவினிடத்துக்குத் திரும்பிப்போய், அவனோடே ஜனங்களுக்குள்ளே தங்கியிரு; இல்லாவிட்டால், எவ்விடத்துக்குப் போக உனக்குச் செவ்வையாய்த் தோன்றுகிறதோ, அவ்விடத்துக்குப் போ என்று சொல்லி, காவற்சேனாதிபதி அவனுக்கு வழிச்செலவையும் வெகுமதியையும் கொடுத்து அவனை அனுப்பிவிட்டான்.

Now while he was not yet gone back, he said, Go back also to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people: or go wheresoever it seemeth convenient unto thee to go. So the captain of the guard gave him victuals and a reward, and let him go.

அப்படியே எரேமியா மிஸ்பாவுக்கு அகிக்காமின் குமாரனாகிய கெதலியாவினிடத்தில் போய், தேசத்தில் மீதியான ஜனங்களுக்குள் அவனோடே தங்கியிருந்தான்.

Then went Jeremiah unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land.

பாபிலோன் ராஜா அகிக்காமின் குமாரனாகிய கெதலியாவை தேசத்தின்மேல் அதிகாரியாக்கினான் என்றும், பாபிலோனுக்குச் சிறைகளாகக் கொண்டுபோகப்பட்டிராத குடிகளில் ஏழைகளான புருஷரையும் ஸ்திரீகளையும் குழந்தைகளையும் அவனுடைய விசாரிப்புக்கு ஒப்புவித்தான் என்றும், வெளியிலிருக்கிற இராணுவச் சேர்வைக்காரர் அனைவரும் அவர்களுடைய மனுஷரும் கேட்டபோது,

Now when all the captains of the forces which were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poor of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon;

அவர்கள் மிஸ்பாவுக்குக் கெதலியாவினிடத்தில் வந்தார்கள்; யாரெனில், நெத்தானியாவின் குமாரனாகிய இஸ்மவேலும், கரேயாவின் குமாரராகிய யோகனானும், யோனத்தானும், தன்கூமேத்தின் குமாரனாகிய செராயாவும், நெத்தோபாத்தியனாகிய ஏப்பாயின் குமாரரும், மாகாத்தியனான ஒருவனுடைய குமாரனாகிய யெசனியாவும் ஆகிய இவர்களும் இவர்களைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களுமே.

Then they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.

அப்பொழுது சாப்பானுடைய குமாரனாகிய அகிக்காமின் மகன் கெதலியா அவர்களையும் அவர்கள் மனுஷரையும் நோக்கி: நீங்கள் கல்தேயரைச் சேவிக்கப்பயப்படவேண்டாம், நீங்கள் தேசத்திலிருந்து பாபிலோன் ராஜாவைச் சேவியுங்கள்; அப்பொழுது உங்களுக்கு நன்மையுண்டாகும்.

And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan sware unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.

நானோவெனில், இதோ, நம்மிடத்திலே வருகிற கல்தேயரிடத்தில் சேவிக்கும்படி மிஸ்பாவிலே குடியிருக்கிறேன்; நீங்களோ போய், திராட்சரசத்தையும் பழங்களையும் எண்ணெயையும் சேர்த்து, உங்கள் பாண்டங்களில் வைத்து, உங்கள் வசமாயிருக்கிற ஊர்களில் குடியிருங்கள் என்று ஆணையிட்டுச் சொன்னான்.

As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah to serve the Chaldeans, which will come unto us: but ye, gather ye wine, and summer fruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.

மோவாபிலும் அம்மோன் புத்திரரிடத்திலும் ஏதோமிலும் சகல தேசங்களிலும் இருக்கிற யூதரும், பாபிலோன் ராஜா யூதாவில் சிலர் மீதியாயிருக்கக் கட்டளையிட்டானென்றும், சாப்பானுடைய குமாரனாகிய அகிக்காமின் மகனான கெதலியாவை அவர்கள்மேல் அதிகாரியாக்கினானென்றும், கேட்டபோது,

Likewise when all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the Ammonites, and in Edom, and that were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant of Judah, and that he had set over them Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan;

எல்லா யூதரும் தாங்கள் துரத்துண்ட எல்லா இடங்களிலுமிருந்து, யூதா தேசத்தில் கெதலியாவினிடத்தில் மிஸ்பாவுக்கு வந்து, திராட்சரசத்தையும் பழங்களையும் மிகுதியாய்ச் சேர்த்து வைத்தார்கள்.

Even all the Jews returned out of all places whither they were driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, unto Mizpah, and gathered wine and summer fruits very much.

அப்பொழுது கரேயாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோகனானும் வெளியிலே இருந்த சகல இராணுவச் சேர்வைக்காரரும் மிஸ்பாவுக்குக் கெதலியாவினிடத்தில் வந்து,

Moreover Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, came to Gedaliah to Mizpah,

உம்மைக் கொன்றுபோடும்படிக்கு, அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் ராஜாவாகிய பாலிஸ் என்பவன், நெத்தானியாவின் குமாரனாகிய இஸ்மவேலை அனுப்பினானென்பதை நீர் அறியவில்லையோ என்றார்கள்; ஆனாலும் அகிக்காமின் குமாரனாகிய கெதலியா அவர்கள் வார்த்தையை நம்பவில்லை.

And said unto him, Dost thou certainly know that Baalis the king of the Ammonites hath sent Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to slay thee? But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam believed them not.

பின்னும் கரேயாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோகனான் மிஸ்பாவிலே கெதலியாவோடே இரகசியமாய்ப் பேசி: நான் போய் ஒருவரும் அறியாமல் நெத்தானியாவின் குமாரனாகிய இஸ்மவேலை வெட்டிப்போட உத்தரவாகவேண்டும்; உம்மிடத்தில் சேர்ந்த யூதரெல்லாரும் சிதறுண்டுபோகவும் யூதாவில் மீந்தவர்கள் அழியவும் அவன் உம்மைக் கொன்று போடவேண்டியதென்ன என்றான்.

Then Johanan the son of Kareah spake to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying, Let me go, I pray thee, and I will slay Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man shall know it: wherefore should he slay thee, that all the Jews which are gathered unto thee should be scattered, and the remnant in Judah perish?

ஆனாலும் அகிக்காமின் குமாரனாகிய கெதலியா கரேயாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோகனானை நோக்கி: நீ இந்தக் காரியத்தைச் செய்யாதே; இஸ்மவேலின்மேல் நீ பொய் சொல்லுகிறாய் என்றான்.

But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said unto Johanan the son of Kareah, Thou shalt not do this thing: for thou speakest falsely of Ishmael.

எரேமியா அத்தியாயம் 41

பின்பு ஏழாம் மாதத்திலே ராஜவம்சத்தில் பிறந்தவனும், எலிசாமாவின் குமாரனாகிய நெத்தானியாவின் மகனுமான இஸ்மவேலும், அவனுடனேகூட ராஜாவின் பிரபுக்களான பத்துப்பேரும் மிஸ்பாவுக்கு அகிக்காமின் குமாரனாகிய கெதலியாவினிடத்தில் வந்து, அங்கே ஏகமாய் போஜனம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

Now it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, and the princes of the king, even ten men with him, came unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and there they did eat bread together in Mizpah.

அப்பொழுது நெத்தானியாவின் குமாரனாகிய இஸ்மவேலும், அவனோடிருந்த பத்துப்பேரும் எழும்பி, பாபிலோன் ராஜா தேசத்தின்மேல் அதிகாரியாக வைத்த சாப்பானின் குமாரனாகிய அகிக்காமின் மகனான கெதலியாவைப் பட்டயத்தால் வெட்டினார்கள்.

Then arose Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and the ten men that were with him, and smote Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan with the sword, and slew him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land.

மிஸ்பாவிலே கெதலியாவினிடத்தில் இருந்த எல்லா யூதரையும், அங்கே காணப்பட்ட யுத்தமனுஷராகிய கல்தேயரையும் இஸ்மவேல் வெட்டிப்போட்டான்.

Ishmael also slew all the Jews that were with him, even with Gedaliah, at Mizpah, and the Chaldeans that were found there, and the men of war.

அவன் கெதலியாவைக் கொன்றபின்பு, மறுநாளிலே அதை ஒருவரும் இன்னும் அறியாதிருக்கையில்:

And it came to pass the second day after he had slain Gedaliah, and no man knew it,

தாடியைச் சிரைத்து, வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்து, தங்களைக் கீறிக்கொண்டிருந்த எண்பதுபேர் சீகேமிலும் சீலோவிலும் சமாரியாவிலுமிருந்து, தங்கள் கைகளில் காணிக்கைகளையும் தூபவர்க்கங்களையும், கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்துக்குக் கொண்டுபோகும்படி வந்தார்கள்.

That there came certain from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, even fourscore men, having their beards shaven, and their clothes rent, and having cut themselves, with offerings and incense in their hand, to bring them to the house of the LORD.

அப்பொழுது நெத்தானியாவின் குமாரனாகிய இஸ்மவேல் மிஸ்பாவிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு, அவர்களுக்கு எதிராக அழுதுகொண்டே நடந்துவந்து, அவர்களைச் சந்தித்தபோது, அவர்களை நோக்கி: அகிக்காமின் குமாரனாகிய கெதலியாவினிடத்தில் வாருங்கள் என்றான்.

And Ishmael the son of Nethaniah went forth from Mizpah to meet them, weeping all along as he went: and it came to pass, as he met them, he said unto them, Come to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam.

அவர்கள் நகரத்தின் மத்தியில் வந்தபோது, நெத்தானியாவின் குமாரனாகிய இஸ்மவேலும், அவனோடிருந்த மனுஷரும் அவர்களை வெட்டி ஒரு பள்ளத்திலே தள்ளிப்போட்டார்கள்.

And it was so, when they came into the midst of the city, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah slew them, and cast them into the midst of the pit, he, and the men that were with him.

ஆனாலும் அவர்களில் பத்துப்பேர் மீந்திருந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் இஸ்மவேலைப்பார்த்து: எங்களைக் கொலைசெய்யவேண்டாம்; கோதுமையும், வாற்கோதுமையும், எண்ணெயும், தேனுமுள்ள புதையல்கள் எங்களுக்கு நிலத்தின்கீழ் இருக்கிறது என்றார்கள்; அப்பொழுது அவர்களை அவர்கள் சகோதரரோடுங்கூடக் கொலைசெய்யாமல் விட்டுவைத்தான்.

But ten men were found among them that said unto Ishmael, Slay us not: for we have treasures in the field, of wheat, and of barley, and of oil, and of honey. So he forbare, and slew them not among their brethren.

இஸ்மவேல் கெதலியாவினிமித்தம் வெட்டின மனுஷருடைய பிரேதங்களையெல்லாம் எறிந்துபோட்ட பள்ளமோவெனில், ஆசா என்னும் ராஜா இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய பாஷாவினிமித்தம் உண்டுபண்ணின பள்ளந்தானே; அதை நெத்தானியாவின் குமாரனாகிய இஸ்மவேல் வெட்டுண்ட பிரேதங்களால் நிரப்பினான்.

Now the pit wherein Ishmael had cast all the dead bodies of the men, whom he had slain because of Gedaliah, was it which Asa the king had made for fear of Baasha king of Israel: and Ishmael the son of Nethaniah filled it with them that were slain.

பின்பு இஸ்மவேல் மிஸ்பாவில் இருக்கிற மீதியான ஜனத்தையெல்லாம் சிறைப்படுத்திக்கொண்டு போனான்; ராஜாவின் குமாரத்திகளையும் காவற்சேனாதிபதியாகிய நேபுசராதான் அகிக்காமின் குமாரனாகிய கெதலியாவின் விசாரிப்புக்கு ஒப்புவித்துப்போன மிஸ்பாவிலுள்ள மீதியான சகல ஜனங்களையும் நெத்தானியாவின் குமாரனாகிய இஸ்மவேல் சிறைப்படுத்திக்கொண்டு அம்மோன் புத்திரர் பட்சத்தில் போகப் புறப்பட்டான்.

Then Ishmael carried away captive all the residue of the people that were in Mizpah, even the king's daughters, and all the people that remained in Mizpah, whom Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had committed to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam: and Ishmael the son of Nethaniah carried them away captive, and departed to go over to the Ammonites.

நெத்தானியாவின் குமாரனாகிய இஸ்மவேல் செய்த பொல்லாப்பையெல்லாம் கரேயாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோகனானும், அவனோடிருந்த எல்லா இராணுவச் சேர்வைக்காரரும் கேட்டபோது,

But when Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, heard of all the evil that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had done,

அவர்கள் புருஷரையெல்லாம் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, நெத்தானியாவின் குமாரனாகிய இஸ்மவேலோடே யுத்தம்பண்ணப்போய், அவனைக் கிபியோனிலிருக்கும் பெருங்குளத்துத் தண்ணீரண்டையிலே கண்டார்கள்.

Then they took all the men, and went to fight with Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and found him by the great waters that are in Gibeon.

அப்பொழுது இஸ்மவேலோடிருந்த சகல ஜனங்களும் கரேயாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோகனானையும், அவனோடிருந்த எல்லா இராணுவச் சேர்வைக்காரரையும் கண்டு சந்தோஷப்பட்டு,

Now it came to pass, that when all the people which were with Ishmael saw Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, then they were glad.

இஸ்மவேல் மிஸ்பாவிலிருந்து சிறைப்பிடித்துக்கொண்டுபோன ஜனங்களெல்லாம் பின்னிட்டுத் திரும்பி, கரேயாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோகனானிடத்தில் வந்துவிட்டார்கள்.

So all the people that Ishmael had carried away captive from Mizpah cast about and returned, and went unto Johanan the son of Kareah.

நெத்தானியாவின் குமாரனாகிய இஸ்மவேலோ, எட்டுப்பேரோடுங்கூட யோகனானின் கைக்குத் தப்பி, அம்மோன் புத்திரரிடத்தில் போனான்.

But Ishmael the son of Nethaniah escaped from Johanan with eight men, and went to the Ammonites.

கரேயாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோகனானும், அவனோடிருந்த எல்லா இராணுவச் சேர்வைக்காரரும், அகிக்காமின் குமாரனாகிய கெதலியாவை வெட்டிப்போட்ட நெத்தானியாவின் குமாரனாகிய இஸ்மவேல் கொண்டுபோனதும், தாங்கள் கிபியோனிலே விடுதலையாக்கித் திரும்பப்பண்ணினதுமான மீதியான சகல ஜனமுமாகிய சேவகரான மனுஷரையும், ஸ்திரீகளையும், குழந்தைகளையும், அரமனைப்பிரதானிகளையும் சேர்த்துக்கொண்டு,

Then took Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, all the remnant of the people whom he had recovered from Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, from Mizpah, after that he had slain Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, even mighty men of war, and the women, and the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought again from Gibeon:

பாபிலோன் ராஜா தேசத்தின்மேல் அதிகாரியாக்கின அகிக்காமின் குமாரனாகிய கெதலியாவை நெத்தானியாவின் குமாரனாகிய இஸ்மவேல் வெட்டிப்போட்டதினிமித்தம் கல்தேயருக்குப் பயந்தபடியினால்,

And they departed, and dwelt in the habitation of Chimham, which is by Bethlehem, to go to enter into Egypt,

தாங்கள் எகிப்துக்குப் போகப்புறப்பட்டு, பெத்லகேமூருக்கு அருகான கிம்காமின் பேட்டையில் தங்கியிருந்தார்கள்.

Because of the Chaldeans: for they were afraid of them, because Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had slain Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon made governor in the land.

விக்கிரகங்களுக்குப் படைக்கப்பட்டவைகளைக்குறித்த விஷயத்தில், நம்மெல்லாருக்கும் அறிவு உண்டென்று நமக்குத் தெரியுமே. அறிவு இறுமாப்பை உண்டாக்கும், அன்போ பக்திவிருத்தியை உண்டாக்கும்.

Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.

ஒருவன் தான் ஏதேனும் ஒன்றை அறிந்தவனென்று எண்ணிக்கொள்வானானால், ஒன்றையும் அறியவேண்டியபிரகாரமாக அவன் இன்னும் அறியவில்லை.

And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.

தேவனில் அன்புகூருகிறவனெவனோ, அவன் தேவனால் அறியப்பட்டிருக்கிறான்.

But if any man love God, the same is known of him.

விக்கிரகங்களுக்குப் படைக்கப்பட்டவைகளைப் புசிக்கிற விஷயத்தைப்பற்றி, உலகத்திலே விக்கிரகமானது ஒன்றுமில்லையென்றும் ஒருவரேயன்றி வேறொரு தேவன் இல்லையென்றும் அறிந்திருக்கிறோம்.

As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.

வானத்திலேயும் பூமியிலேயும் தேவர்கள் என்னப்படுகிறவர்கள் உண்டு; இப்படி அநேக தேவர்களும் அநேக கர்த்தாக்களும் உண்டாயிருந்தாலும்,

For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)

பிதாவாகிய ஒரே தேவன் நமக்குண்டு, அவராலே சகலமும் உண்டாயிருக்கிறது; அவருக்கென்று நாமும் உண்டாயிருக்கிறோம். இயேசுகிறிஸ்து என்னும் ஒரே கர்த்தரும் நமக்குண்டு; அவர் மூலமாய்ச் சகலமும் உண்டாயிருக்கிறது, அவர் மூலமாய் நாமும் உண்டாயிருக்கிறோம்.

But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

ஆகிலும், இந்த அறிவு எல்லாரிடத்திலும் இல்லை. சிலர் இன்றையவரைக்கும் விக்கிரகத்தை ஒரு பொருளென்று எண்ணி, விக்கிரகத்துக்குப் படைக்கப்பட்டதைப் புசிக்கிறார்கள்; அவர்களுடைய மனச்சாட்சி பலவீனமாயிருப்பதால் அசுசிப்படுகிறது.

Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.

போஜனமானது நம்மை தேவனுக்கு உகந்தவர்களாக்கமாட்டாது; என்னத்தினாலெனில், புசிப்பதினால் நமக்கு ஒரு மேன்மையுமில்லை, புசியாதிருப்பதினால் நமக்கு ஒரு குறைவுமில்லை.

But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.

ஆகிலும் இதைக்குறித்து உங்களுக்கு உண்டாயிருக்கிற அதிகாரம் எவ்விதத்திலும் பலவீனருக்குத் தடுக்கலாகாதபடிக்குப் பாருங்கள்.

But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.

எப்படியெனில், அறிவுள்ளவனாகிய உன்னை விக்கிரகக்கோவிலிலே பந்தியிருக்க ஒருவன் கண்டால், பலவீனனாயிருக்கிற அவனுடைய மனச்சாட்சி விக்கிரகங்களுக்குப் படைக்கப்பட்டவைகளைப் புசிப்பதற்குத் துணிவுகொள்ளுமல்லவா?

For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;

பலவீனமுள்ள சகோதரன் உன் அறிவினிமித்தம் கெட்டுப்போகலாமா? அவனுக்காகக் கிறிஸ்து மரித்தாரே.

And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?

இப்படிச் சகோதரருக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பாவஞ்செய்து, பலவீனமுள்ள அவர்களுடைய மனச்சாட்சியைப் புண்படுத்துகிறதினாலே, நீங்கள் கிறிஸ்துவுக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பாவஞ்செய்கிறீர்கள்.

But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.

ஆதலால் போஜனம் என் சகோதரனுக்கு இடறலுண்டாக்கினால், நான் என் சகோதரனுக்கு இடறலுண்டாக்காதபடிக்கு, என்றைக்கும் மாம்சம் புசியாதிருப்பேன்.

Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.

நான் அப்போஸ்தலனல்லவா? நான் சுயாதீனனல்லவா? நம்முடைய கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவை நான் தரிசிக்கவில்லையா? கர்த்தருக்குள் நீங்கள் என் கிரியையாயிருக்கிறீர்களல்லவா?

Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?

நான் மற்றவர்களுக்கு அப்போஸ்தலனாயிராவிட்டாலும், உங்களுக்கல்லவோ அப்போஸ்தலனாயிருக்கிறேன்; கர்த்தருக்குள் நீங்கள் என் அப்போஸ்தல ஊழியத்திற்கு முத்திரையாயிருக்கிறீர்களே.

If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord.

என்னை நியாயம் விசாரிக்கிறவர்களுக்கு நான் சொல்லுகிற மாறுத்தரமாவது:

Mine answer to them that do examine me is this,

புசிக்கவும் குடிக்கவும் எங்களுக்கு அதிகாரமில்லையா?

Have we not power to eat and to drink?

மற்ற அப்போஸ்தலரும், கர்த்தருடைய சகோதரரும், கேபாவும் செய்கிறதுபோல, மனைவியாகிய ஒரு சகோதரியைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு திரிய எங்களுக்கும் அதிகாரமில்லையா?

Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

அல்லது, கைத்தொழில் செய்யாதிருக்கிறதற்கு எனக்கும் பர்னபாவுக்கும்மாத்திரந்தானா அதிகாரமில்லை?

Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working?

எவன் தன் சொந்தப்பணத்தைச் செலவழித்து, தண்டிலே சேவகம்பண்ணுவான்? எவன் திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தை உண்டாக்கி, அதின் கனியில் புசியாதிருப்பான்? எவன் மந்தையை மேய்த்து, அதின் பாலைச் சாப்பிடாதிருப்பான்?

Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?

இவைகளை மனுஷர் வழக்கத்தின்படி சொல்லுகிறேனோ? நியாயப்பிரமாணமும் இவைகளைச் சொல்லுகிறதில்லையா?

Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also?

போரடிக்கிற மாட்டை வாய்க்கட்டாயாக என்று மோசேயின் பிரமாணத்திலே எழுதியிருக்கிறதே. தேவன் மாடுகளுக்காகவே கவலையாயிருக்கிறாரோ?

For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?

நமக்காகத்தான் இதைச் சொல்லுகிறாரோ? உழுகிறவன் நம்பிக்கையோடே உழவும், போரடிக்கிறவன் தான் நம்புகிறதில் பங்கடைவேன் என்கிற நம்பிக்கையோடே போரடிக்கவும் வேண்டியதே, ஆகையால், அது நமக்காகவே எழுதியிருக்கிறது.

Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.

நாங்கள் உங்களுக்கு ஞானநன்மைகளை விதைத்திருக்க, உங்கள் சரீரநன்மைகளை அறுத்தால் அது பெரிய காரியமா?

If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?

மற்றவர்கள் உங்களிடத்திலே இந்த அதிகாரத்தைச் செலுத்தினால், அவர்களிலும் நாங்கள் அதிகமாய்ச் செலுத்தலாமல்லவா? அப்படியிருந்தும், கிறிஸ்துவின் சுவிசேஷத்திற்கு யாதொரு தடையும் உண்டாகாதபடிக்கு, நாங்கள் இந்த அதிகாரத்தைச் செலுத்தாமல் எல்லாப்பாடும்படுகிறோம்.

If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.

ஆசாரிய ஊழியஞ்செய்கிறவர்கள் தேவாலயத்திற்குரியவைகளில் புசிக்கிறார்களென்றும், பலிபீடத்தை அடுத்துப் பணிவிடை செய்கிறவர்களுக்குப் பலிபீடத்திலுள்ளவைகளில் பங்கு உண்டென்றும் அறியீர்களா?

Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?

அந்தப்படியே சுவிசேஷத்தை அறிவிக்கிறவர்களுக்குச் சுவிசேஷத்தினாலே பிழைப்பு உண்டாகவேண்டுமென்று கர்த்தரும் கட்டளையிட்டிருக்கிறார்.

Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.

அப்படியிருந்தும், நான் இவைகளில் ஒன்றையும் அநுபவிக்கவில்லை; இப்படி எனக்கு நடக்கவேண்டுமென்று இவைகளை நான் எழுதுகிறதுமில்லை. என் மேன்மைபாராட்டலை ஒருவன் அவத்தமாக்குகிறதைப்பார்க்கிலும் சாகிறது எனக்கு நலமாயிருக்கும்.

But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.

சுவிசேஷத்தை நான் பிரசங்கித்து வந்தும், மேன்மைப்பாராட்ட எனக்கு இடமில்லை; அது என்மேல் விழுந்த கடமையாயிருக்கிறது; சுவிசேஷத்தை நான் பிரசங்கியாதிருந்தால், எனக்கு ஐயோ.

For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!

நான் உற்சாகமாய் அப்படிச் செய்தால் எனக்குப் பலன் உண்டு; உற்சாகமில்லாதவனாய்ச் செய்தாலும், உக்கிராண உத்தியோகம் எனக்கு ஒப்புவிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறதே.

For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me.

ஆதலால் எனக்குப் பலன் என்ன? நான் சுவிசேஷத்தைப் பிரசங்கிக்கையில் அதைப்பற்றி எனக்கு உண்டாயிருக்கிற அதிகாரத்தை முற்றிலும் செலுத்தாமல், கிறிஸ்துவின் சுவிசேஷத்தைச் செலவில்லாமல் ஸ்தாபிப்பதே எனக்குப் பலன்.

What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.

நான் ஒருவருக்கும் அடிமைப்படாதவனாயிருந்தும், நான் அதிக ஜனங்களை ஆதாயப்படுத்திக்கொள்ளும்படிக்கு, என்னைத்தானே எல்லாருக்கும் அடிமையாக்கினேன்.

For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.

யூதரை ஆதாயப்படுத்திக்கொள்ளும்படிக்கு யூதருக்கு யூதனைப்போலவும், நியாயப்பிரமாணத்துக்குக் கீழ்ப்பட்டவர்களை ஆதாயப்படுத்திக்கொள்ளும்படிக்கு நியாயப்பிரமாணத்துக்குக் கீழ்ப்பட்டவனைப் போலவுமானேன்.

And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;

நியாயப்பிரமாணமில்லாதவர்களை ஆதாயப்படுத்திக்கொள்ளும்படிக்கு அவர்களுக்கு நியாயப்பிரமாணம் இல்லாதவனைப்போலவுமானேன். அப்படியிருந்தும், நான் தேவனுக்குமுன்பாக நியாயப்பிரமாணமில்லாதவனாயிராமல், கிறிஸ்துவின் பிரமாணத்துக்குள்ளானவனாயிருக்கிறேன்.

To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.

பலவீனரை ஆதாயப்படுத்திக்கொள்ளும்படிக்குப் பலவீனருக்குப் பலவீனனைப்போலானேன்; எப்படியாகிலும் சிலரை இரட்சிக்கும்படிக்கு நான் எல்லாருக்கும் எல்லாமானேன்.

To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.

சுவிசேஷத்தில் நான் உடன்பங்காளியாகும்படிக்கு, அதினிமித்தமே இப்படிச் செய்கிறேன்.

And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

பந்தயச் சாலையில் ஓடுகிறவர்களெல்லாரும் ஓடுவார்கள்; ஆகிலும், ஒருவனே பந்தயத்தைப் பெறுவானென்று அறியீர்களா? நீங்கள் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளத்தக்கதாக ஓடுங்கள்.

Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

பந்தயத்திற்குப் போராடுகிற யாவரும் எல்லாவற்றிலேயும் இச்சையடக்கமாயிருப்பார்கள். அவர்கள் அழிவுள்ள கிரீடத்தைப் பெறும்படிக்கு அப்படிச் செய்கிறார்கள், நாமோ அழிவில்லாத கிரீடத்தைப் பெறும்படிக்கு அப்படிச் செய்கிறோம்.

And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

ஆதலால் நான் நிச்சயமில்லாதவனாக ஓடேன்; ஆகாயத்தை அடிக்கிறவனாகச் சிலம்பம்பண்ணேன்.

I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

மற்றவர்களுக்குப் பிரசங்கம்பண்ணுகிற நான்தானே ஆகாதவனாய்ப் போகாதபடிக்கு, என் சரீரத்தை ஒடுக்கிக் கீழ்ப்படுத்துகிறேன்.

But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
