எரேமியா அத்தியாயம் 3

ஒரு புருஷன் தன் மனைவியைத் தள்ளிவிட, அவள் அவனிடத்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்டுப்போய், அந்நியபுருஷனுக்கு மனைவியானால், அவன் அவளிடத்தில் இனித் திரும்பப் போவானோ? அந்த தேசம் மிகவும் தீட்டுப்படுமல்லவோ? என்று மனுஷர் சொல்லுவார்கள்; நீயோவென்றால் அநேக நேசரோடே வேசித்தனம்பண்ணினாய்; ஆகிலும் என்னிடத்திற்குத் திரும்பிவா என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the LORD.

நீ மேடுகளின்மேல் உன் கண்களை ஏறெடுத்து, நீ வேசித்தனம்பண்ணாத இடம் ஒன்று உண்டோ என்று பார்; வனாந்தரத்திலே அரபியன் காத்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறதுபோல, நீ வழி ஓரங்களில் உன் நேசருக்குக் காத்துக்கொண்டிருந்து, உன் வேசித்தனங்களாலும், உன் அக்கிரமங்களாலும் தேசத்தைத் தீட்டுப்படுத்தினாய்.

Lift up thine eyes unto the high places, and see where thou hast not been lien with. In the ways hast thou sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast polluted the land with thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness.

அதினிமித்தம் மழை வருஷியாமலும், பின்மாரியில்லாமலும் போயிற்று; உனக்கோ, சோரஸ்திரீயின் நெற்றியிருக்கிறது; நீயோ: நாணமாட்டேன் என்கிறாய்.

Therefore the showers have been withholden, and there hath been no latter rain; and thou hadst a whore's forehead, thou refusedst to be ashamed.

நீ இதுமுதல் என்னை நோக்கி: என் பிதாவே, தேவரீர் என் இளவயதின் அதிபதியென்று சொல்லி,

Wilt thou not from this time cry unto me, My father, thou art the guide of my youth?

சதாகாலமும் கோபத்தை வைப்பாரோ? அதை என்றென்றைக்கும் காப்பாரோ என்கிறாய் அல்லவோ? இதோ, இப்படி நீ சொல்லியும் பொல்லாப்புகளைச்செய்து, மிஞ்சிப்போகிறாய் என்கிறார்.

Will he reserve his anger for ever? will he keep it to the end? Behold, thou hast spoken and done evil things as thou couldest.

யோசியா ராஜாவின் நாட்களிலே கர்த்தர் என்னை நோக்கி: சீர்கெட்ட இஸ்ரவேல் என்பவள் செய்ததைக் கண்டாயா? அவள் உயரமான சகல மலையின்மேலும், பச்சையான சகல மரத்தின்கீழும் போய், அங்கே வேசித்தனம்பண்ணினாள்.

The LORD said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot.

அவள் இப்படியெல்லாம் செய்த பின்பு: நீ என்னிடத்தில் திரும்பிவா என்று நான் சொன்னேன்; அவளோ திரும்பவில்லை; இதை அவளுடைய சகோதரியாகிய யூதா என்கிற துரோகி கண்டாள்.

And I said after she had done all these things, Turn thou unto me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it.

சீர்கெட்ட இஸ்ரவேல் என்பவள் விபசாரம்பண்ணின முகாந்தரங்கள் எல்லாவற்றினிமித்தமும் நான் அவளை அனுப்பிவிட்டு, அவளுடைய தள்ளுதற்சீட்டை அவளுக்குக் கொடுத்தபோதும், அவளுடைய சகோதரியாகிய யூதா என்கிற துரோகி பயப்படாமல்; இவளும் போய் வேசித்தனம்பண்ணினாள், இதை நான் கண்டேன்.

And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.

பிரசித்தமான அவளுடைய வேசித்தனத்தினாலே தேசம் தீட்டுப்பட்டுப்போயிற்று; கல்லோடும் மரத்தோடும் விபசாரம்பண்ணிக்கொண்டிருந்தாள் என்றார்.

And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks.

இவைகளையெல்லாம் கண்டும், யூதா என்கிற அவளுடைய சகோதரியாகிய துரோகி, கள்ளத்தனமாய்த் திரும்பினாளேயன்றி, முழு இருதயத்தோடும் என்னிடத்தில் திரும்பவில்லை என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the LORD.

பின்னும் கர்த்தர் என்னை நோக்கி: யூதா என்கிற துரோகியைப்பார்க்கிலும் சீர்கெட்ட இஸ்ரவேல் என்பவள் தன்னை நீதியுள்ளவளாக்கினாள்.

And the LORD said unto me, The backsliding Israel hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah.

நீ போய் வடதிசையை நோக்கிக் கூறவேண்டிய வார்த்தைகள் என்னவென்றால்: சீர்கெட்ட இஸ்ரவேலே, திரும்பு என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்; நான் உங்கள்மேல் என் கோபத்தை இறங்கப்பண்ணுவதில்லை; நான் கிருபையுள்ளவரென்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்; நான் என்றைக்கும் கோபம் வைக்கமாட்டேன்.

Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever.

நீயோ, உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாய்த் துரோகம்பண்ணி, பச்சையான சகல மரத்தின்கீழும் அந்நியரோடே சோரமார்க்கமாய் நடந்து, உன் அக்கிரமத்தையும், என் சத்தத்துக்குச் செவிகொடாமற்போனதையும் ஒத்துக்கொள் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the LORD.

சீர்கெட்ட பிள்ளைகளே, திரும்புங்கள் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்; நான் உங்கள் நாயகர்; நான் உங்களை ஊரில் ஒருவனும், வம்சத்தில் இரண்டு பேருமாகத் தெரிந்து, உங்களைச் சீயோனுக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவந்து,

Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:

உங்களுக்கு என் இருதயத்துக்கு ஏற்ற மேய்ப்பர்களைக் கொடுப்பேன், அவர்கள் உங்களை அறிவோடும் புத்தியோடும் மேய்ப்பார்கள்.

And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

நீங்கள் தேசத்திலே பெருகிப் பலுகுகிற அந்நாட்களிலே, அவர்கள் கர்த்தருடைய உடன்படிக்கைப் பெட்டியென்று இனிச் சொல்வதில்லை; அது அவர்கள் மனதில் எழும்புவதும் இல்லை; அது அவர்கள் நினைவில் வருவதும் இல்லை; அதைக் குறித்து விசாரிப்பதும் இல்லை; அது இனிச் செப்பனிடப்படுவதும் இல்லை என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more.

அக்காலத்திலே எருசலேமைக் கர்த்தருடைய சிங்காசனம் என்பார்கள்; சகல ஜாதியாரும் எருசலேமில் விளங்கிய கர்த்தருடைய நாமத்தினிமித்தம் அதினிடமாகச் சேர்வார்கள்; அவர்கள் இனித் தங்கள் பொல்லாத இருதயத்தின் இச்சையின்படி நடவார்கள்.

At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.

அந்நாட்களிலே யூதா வம்சத்தார் இஸ்ரவேல் வம்சத்தாரோடே சேர்ந்து, அவர்கள் ஏகமாய் வடதேசத்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு, நான் தங்கள் பிதாக்களுக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுத்த தேசத்திற்கு வருவார்கள்.

In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.

நான் உன்னைப் பிள்ளைகளின் வரிசையிலே வைத்து, ஜனக்கூட்டங்களுக்குள்ளே நல்ல சுதந்தரமாகிய தேசத்தை உனக்குக் கொடுப்பது எப்படியென்று சொன்னேன்; ஆனாலும் நீ என்னை நோக்கி, என் பிதாவே என்று அழைப்பாய்; நீ என்னைவிட்டு விலகுவதில்லை என்று திரும்பவும் சொன்னேன்.

But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me.

ஒரு மனைவி தன் புருஷனுக்குத் துரோகம்செய்வதுபோல, இஸ்ரவேல் வம்சத்தாராகிய நீங்கள் எனக்குத் துரோகம்செய்தது மெய் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the LORD.

இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் தங்கள் வழியை மாறுபாடாக்கி, தங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை மறந்ததினிமித்தம் அழுதுகொண்டு விண்ணப்பஞ்செய்யும் சத்தம் உயர்ந்த ஸ்தானங்களிலே கேட்கப்படும்.

A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their way, and they have forgotten the LORD their God.

சீர்கெட்ட பிள்ளைகளே, திரும்புங்கள்; உங்கள் சீர்கேடுகளைக் குணமாக்குவேன் என்றார். இதோ, உம்மிடத்தில் வருகிறோம்; நீரே எங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர்.

Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the LORD our God.

குன்றுகளையும், திரளான மலைகளையும் நம்புகிறது விருதா என்பது மெய்; இஸ்ரவேலின் இரட்சிப்பு எங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்குள் இருப்பது என்பது மெய்யே.

Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel.

இந்த இலச்சையானது எங்கள் சிறுவயதுமுதல் எங்கள் பிதாக்களுடைய பிரயாசத்தையும், அவர்கள் ஆடுகளையும் மாடுகளையும், அவர்கள் குமாரரையும் குமாரத்திகளையும் பட்சித்துப்போட்டது.

For shame hath devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.

எங்கள் இலச்சையிலே கிடக்கிறோம்; எங்கள் அவமானம் எங்களை மூடியிருக்கிறது; நாங்களும், எங்கள் பிதாக்களும் எங்கள் சிறுவயது முதல் இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் எங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாகப் பாவஞ்செய்தோம்; எங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருடைய சொல்லைக் கேளாமலும்போனோம்.

We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.

எரேமியா அத்தியாயம் 4

இஸ்ரவேலே, நீ திரும்புகிறதற்கு மனதாயிருந்தால் என்னிடத்தில் திரும்பு என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்; நீ உன் அருவருப்புகளை என் பார்வையினின்று அகற்றிவிட்டால், நீ இனி அலைந்து திரிவதில்லை.

If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith the LORD, return unto me: and if thou wilt put away thine abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not remove.

நீ உண்மையோடும், நியாயத்தோடும், நீதியோடும், கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு ஆணையிடுவாய்; புறஜாதிகளும் அவருக்குள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டு, அவருக்குள் மேன்மைபாராட்டுவார்கள்.

And thou shalt swear, The LORD liveth, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.

யூதா மனுஷரோடும், எருசலேமியரோடும் கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்றால்: நீங்கள் முள்ளுகளுக்குள்ளே விதையாதிருங்கள், உங்கள் தரிசு நிலத்தைப் பண்படுத்துங்கள்.

For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.

யூதா மனுஷரே, எருசலேமின் குடிகளே, உங்கள் கிரியைகளுடைய பொல்லாப்பினிமித்தம் என் உக்கிரம் அக்கினியைப்போல எழும்பி, அவிப்பார் இல்லாமல் எரியாதபடிக்கு நீங்கள் கர்த்தருக்கென்று உங்களை விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணி, உங்கள் இருதயத்தின் நுனித்தோலை நீக்கிப்போடுங்கள்.

Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.

தேசத்தில் எக்காளம் ஊதுங்கள் என்று சொல்லி, யூதாவில் அறிவித்து, எருசலேமில் கேட்கப்பண்ணுங்கள்; நாம் அரணான பட்டணங்களுக்கு உட்படும்படிக்குச் சேருங்கள் என்று சொல்லி, உரத்த சத்தமாய்க் கூப்பிடுங்கள்.

Declare ye in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, Blow ye the trumpet in the land: cry, gather together, and say, Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the defenced cities.

சீயோனுக்கு நேரே கொடியேற்றுங்கள்; கூடுங்கள்; நிற்காதிருங்கள்; நான் வடக்கேயிருந்து பொல்லாப்பையும், மகா சங்காரத்தையும் வரப்பண்ணுகிறேன்.

Set up the standard toward Zion: retire, stay not: for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.

உன் தேசத்தைப் பாழாக்கிவிடும்படிக்குச் சிங்கம் தன் புதரிலிருந்து எழும்பி, ஜாதிகளை சங்கரிக்கிறவன் தன் ஸ்தானத்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்டுவருகிறான்; உன் பட்டணங்கள் குடியிராதபடி அழிக்கப்படும் என்கிறார்.

The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.

இதினிமித்தம் இரட்டைக் கட்டிக்கொள்ளுங்கள்; புலம்பி அலறுங்கள்; கர்த்தருடைய உக்கிரகோபம் நம்மைவிட்டுத் திரும்பவில்லையே.

For this gird you with sackcloth, lament and howl: for the fierce anger of the LORD is not turned back from us.

அந்நாளிலே ராஜாவின் இருதயமும், பிரபுக்களின் இருதயமும் மடிந்துபோகும்; ஆசாரியர்கள் திடுக்கிட்டு, தீர்க்கதரிசிகள் திகைப்பார்கள் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

And it shall come to pass at that day, saith the LORD, that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder.

அப்பொழுது நான்: ஆ! கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவரே, உங்களுக்குச் சமாதானமிருக்கும் என்று சொன்னதினால், மெய்யாகவே இந்த ஜனத்துக்கும் எருசலேமுக்கும் மிகுதியான மோசத்தை வரப்பண்ணினீர்; பட்டயம் பிராணன்மட்டும் எட்டுகிறதே என்றேன்.

Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! surely thou hast greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall have peace; whereas the sword reacheth unto the soul.

வனாந்தரத்திலுள்ள உயர்நிலங்களிலிருந்து, ஒரு தீக்காற்று என் ஜனமாகிய குமாரத்திக்கு நேராக அடிக்கும் என்று அக்காலத்திலே இந்த ஜனத்தோடும் எருசலேமோடும் சொல்லப்படும்; அது தூற்றவுமாட்டாது சுத்திகரிக்கவுமாட்டாது.

At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to fan, nor to cleanse,

இதைப்பார்க்கிலும் பலமான காற்று என் காரியமாய் வரும்; இப்பொழுது நானும் அவர்களோடே நியாயம் பேசுவேன்.

Even a full wind from those places shall come unto me: now also will I give sentence against them.

இதோ, மேகங்களைப்போல எழும்பிவருகிறான்; அவனுடைய இரதங்கள் பெருங்காற்றைப்போலிருக்கிறது; அவன் குதிரைகள் கழுகுகளிலும் வேகமானவைகள்; நமக்கு ஐயோ! நாம் பாழாக்கப்படுகிறோமே.

Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe unto us! for we are spoiled.

எருசலேமே, நீ இரட்சிக்கப்படும்படிக்கு உன் இருதயத்தைப் பொல்லாப்பறக் கழுவு; எந்தமட்டும் அக்கிரமநினைவுகள் உன் உள்ளத்திலே தங்கும்.

O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?

தாணிலிருந்து ஒரு சத்தம் வந்து, செய்தியை அறிவிக்கிறது; எப்பிராயீமின் மலையிலிருந்து வந்து, தீங்கைப் பிரசித்தம்பண்ணுகிறது.

For a voice declareth from Dan, and publisheth affliction from mount Ephraim.

ஜாதிகளுக்கு அதை நீங்கள் பிரஸ்தாபம்பண்ணுங்கள்; இதோ, காவற்சேவகர் தூரதேசத்திலிருந்து வந்து, யூதாவுடைய பட்டணங்களுக்கு விரோதமாய் உரத்த சத்தமிடுவார்கள் என்று எருசலேமுக்குக் கூறுங்கள்.

Make ye mention to the nations; behold, publish against Jerusalem, that watchers come from a far country, and give out their voice against the cities of Judah.

அதற்கு விரோதமாய் அவர்கள் வயல்வெளிகளின் காவற்காரரைப் போலச் சுற்றிலுமிருப்பார்கள்; அது எனக்கு விரோதமாய்க் கலகஞ்செய்தது என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

As keepers of a field, are they against her round about; because she hath been rebellious against me, saith the LORD.

உன் நடக்கையும் உன் கிரியைகளுமே இவைகளை உனக்கு நேரிடப்பண்ணின; இது இத்தனை கசப்பாயிருந்து, உன் இருதயமட்டும் எட்டுகிறதற்குக் காரணம் உன் பொல்லாப்புத்தானே.

Thy way and thy doings have procured these things unto thee; this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth unto thine heart.

என் குடல்கள், என் குடல்களே நோகிறது; என் உள்ளம் வேதனைப்படுகிறது, என் இருதயம் என்னில் கதறுகிறது; நான் பேசாமல் அமர்ந்திருக்கக்கூடாது; என் ஆத்துமாவே, எக்காளத்தின் சத்தத்தையும், யுத்தத்தின் ஆர்ப்பரிப்பையும் கேட்டாயே.

My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.

நாசத்துக்குமேல் நாசம் வருகிறதாகக் கூறப்படுகிறது; தேசமெல்லாம் பாழாகிறது; அசுப்பிலே என் கூடாரங்களும், ஒரு நிமிஷத்திலே என் திரைகளும் பாழாக்கப்படுகிறது.

Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is spoiled: suddenly are my tents spoiled, and my curtains in a moment.

நான் எதுவரைக்கும் கொடியைக்கண்டு, எக்காளத்தின் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்பேன்.

How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet?

என் ஜனங்களோ மதியற்றவர்கள், என்னை அவர்கள் அறியாதிருக்கிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் பைத்தியமுள்ள பிள்ளைகள், அவர்களுக்கு உணர்வே இல்லை; பொல்லாப்புச்செய்ய அவர்கள் அறிவாளிகள், நன்மைசெய்யவோ அவர்கள் அறிவில்லாதவர்கள்.

For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.

பூமியைப் பார்த்தேன், அது ஒழுங்கின்மையும் வெறுமையுமாயிருந்தது; வானங்ளையும் பார்த்தேன், அவைகளுக்கு ஒளியில்லாதிருந்தது.

I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.

பர்வதங்களைப் பார்த்தேன், அவைகள் அதிர்ந்தன; எல்லாக் குன்றுகளும் அசைந்தன.

I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.

பின்னும் நான் பார்க்கும்போது, மனுஷனில்லை; ஆகாசத்துப் பறவைகளெல்லாம் பறந்துபோயின.

I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.

பின்னும் நான் பார்க்கும்போது, கர்த்தராலும், அவருடைய உக்கிரகோபத்தாலும் பயிர்நிலம் வனாந்தரமாயிற்று; அதின் பட்டணங்களெல்லாம் இடிந்துபோயின.

I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger.

தேசமெல்லாம் பாழாய்ப்போகும்; ஆகிலும் சர்வசங்காரம் செய்யேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.

இதினிமித்தம் பூமி புலம்பும், உயர இருக்கிற வானங்கள் கறுத்துப்போகும்; நான் அதைச் சொன்னேன், அதை நிர்ணயம்பண்ணினேன்; நான் மனஸ்தாபப்படுவதும் இல்லை; நான் அதைவிட்டுப் திரும்புவதும் இல்லை.

For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black: because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it.

குதிரைவீரரும் வில்வீரரும் இடும் சத்தத்தினாலே சகல ஊராரும் ஓடி, அடர்த்தியான காடுகளில் புகுந்து, கன்மலைகளிலும் ஏறுவார்கள்; ஒரு மனுஷனும் அவைகளிலே குடியிராதபடி எல்லா ஊர்களும் விடப்பட்டிருக்கும்.

The whole city shall flee for the noise of the horsemen and bowmen; they shall go into thickets, and climb up upon the rocks: every city shall be forsaken, and not a man dwell therein.

பாழாய்ப்போன நீ இப்பொழுது என்ன செய்வாய்? நீ இரத்தாம்பரம் உடுத்தாலும், பொன்னாபரணங்களால் உன்னைச் சிங்காரித்தாலும், உன் கண்களில் மையிட்டுக்கொண்டாலும், வீணாய் உன்னை அழகுபடுத்துவாய்; சோரநாயகர் உன்னை அசட்டைபண்ணி, உன் பிராணனை வாங்கத் தேடுவார்கள்.

And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.

கர்ப்பவேதனைப்படுகிறவளின் சத்தமாகவும், முதல்விசை பிள்ளை பெறுகிறவளின் வியாகுலமாகவும், சீயோன் குமாரத்தியின் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்கிறேன்; அவள் பெருமூச்சுவிட்டு, தன் கைகளை விரித்து: ஐயோ! கொலைபாதகர்களாலே என் ஆத்துமா சோர்ந்துபோகிறதே என்கிறாள்.

For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, and the anguish as of her that bringeth forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, that bewaileth herself, that spreadeth her hands, saying, Woe is me now! for my soul is wearied because of murderers.

ஐந்து நாளைக்குப்பின்பு பிரதானஆசாரியனாகிய அனனியா மூப்பர்களோடும் தெர்த்துல்லு என்னும் ஒரு நியாயசாதுரியனோடும் கூடப்போனான், அவர்கள் பவுலுக்கு விரோதமாய்த் தேசாதிபதியினிடத்தில் பிராதுபண்ணினார்கள்.

And after five days Ananias the high priest descended with the elders, and with a certain orator named Tertullus, who informed the governor against Paul.

அவன் அழைக்கப்பட்டபோது, தெர்த்துல்லு குற்றஞ்சாட்டத்தொடங்கி:

And when he was called forth, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, Seeing that by thee we enjoy great quietness, and that very worthy deeds are done unto this nation by thy providence,

கனம்பொருந்திய பேலிக்ஸே, உம்மாலே நாங்கள் மிகுந்த சமாதான சவுக்கியத்தை அநுபவிக்கிறதையும், உம்முடைய பராமரிப்பினாலே இந்தத் தேசத்தாருக்குச் சிறந்த நன்மைகள் நடக்கிறதையும் நாங்கள் எப்பொழுதும் எங்கும் மிகுந்த நன்றியறிதலுடனே அங்கிகாரம்பண்ணுகிறோம்.

We accept it always, and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness.

உம்மை நான் அநேக வார்த்தைகளினாலே அலட்டாதபடிக்கு, நாங்கள் சுருக்கமாய்ச் சொல்வதை நீர் பொறுமையாய்க் கேட்கவேண்டுமென்று பிரார்த்திக்கிறேன்.

Notwithstanding, that I be not further tedious unto thee, I pray thee that thou wouldest hear us of thy clemency a few words.

என்னவென்றால், இந்த மனுஷன் கொள்ளைநோயாகவும், பூச்சக்கரத்திலுள்ள சகல யூதர்களுக்குள்ளும் கலகம் எழுப்புகிறவனாகவும், நசரேயருடைய மதபேதத்துக்கு முதலாளியாகவும் இருக்கிறானென்று கண்டறிந்தோம்.

For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:

இவன் தேவாலயத்தையும் தீட்டுப்படுத்தப்பார்த்தான். நாங்கள் இவனைப்பிடித்து எங்கள் வேதப்பிரமாணத்தின்படியே நியாயந்தீர்க்க மனதாயிருந்தோம்.

Who also hath gone about to profane the temple: whom we took, and would have judged according to our law.

அப்பொழுது சேனாதிபதியாகிய லீசியா வந்து, மிகுந்த பலாத்காரமாய் இவனை எங்கள் கைகளிலிருந்து பறித்துக்கொண்டுபோய்,

But the chief captain Lysias came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our hands,

இவன்மேல் குற்றஞ்சாட்டுகிறவர்கள் உம்மிடத்தில் வரும்படி கட்டளையிட்டார். இவனிடத்தில் நீர் விசாரித்தால் நாங்கள் இவன்மேல் சாட்டுகிற குற்றங்கள் யாவையும் அறிந்துகொள்ளலாம் என்றான்.

Commanding his accusers to come unto thee: by examining of whom thyself mayest take knowledge of all these things, whereof we accuse him.

யூதர்களும் அதற்கு இசைந்து, இவைகள் யதார்த்தந்தான் என்றார்கள்.

And the Jews also assented, saying that these things were so.

பவுல் பேசும்படி தேசாதிபதி சைகைகாட்டினபோது, அவன் உத்தரவாக: நீர் அநேக வருஷகாலமாய் இந்த தேசத்தாருக்கு நியாயாதிபதியாயிருக்கிறீரென்றறிந்து, நான் என் காரியங்களைக்குறித்து அதிக தைரியத்துடன் உத்தரவு சொல்லுகிறேன்.

Then Paul, after that the governor had beckoned unto him to speak, answered, Forasmuch as I know that thou hast been of many years a judge unto this nation, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself:

நான் தொழுதுகொள்ளும்படியாக எருசலேமுக்குப் போனதுமுதல் இதுவரைக்கும் பன்னிரண்டு நாள்மாத்திரம் ஆயிற்றென்று நீர் அறிந்துகொள்ளலாம்.

Because that thou mayest understand, that there are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem for to worship.

தேவாலயத்திலே நான் ஒருவரிடத்திலாவது தர்க்கம்பண்ணினதையும், நான் ஜெப ஆலயங்களிலாகிலும் நகரத்திலாகிலும் ஜனங்களுக்குள்ளே கலகமெழுப்பினதையும், இவர்கள் கண்டதில்லை.

And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, neither raising up the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city:

இப்பொழுது என்மேல் சாட்டுகிற குற்றங்களை இவர்கள் ரூபிக்கவுமாட்டார்கள்.

Neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me.

உம்மிடத்தில் ஒன்றை ஒத்துக்கொள்ளுகிறேன்; அதென்னவென்றால், இவர்கள் மதபேதம் என்று சொல்லுகிற மார்க்கத்தின்படியே எங்கள் முன்னோர்களின் தேவனுக்கு ஆராதனைசெய்து நியாயப்பிரமாணத்திலேயும் தீர்க்கதரிசிகள் புஸ்தகங்களிலேயும் எழுதியிருக்கிற எல்லாவற்றையும் நான் விசுவாசித்து,

But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:

நீதிமான்களும் அநீதிமான்களுமாகிய மரித்தோர் உயிர்தெழுந்திருப்பது உண்டென்று இவர்கள் தேவனிடத்தில் நம்பிக்கைகொண்டிருக்கிறதுபோல, நானும் நம்பிக்கைகொண்டிருக்கிறேன்.

And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.

இதனால் நான் தேவனுக்கும் மனுஷருக்கும் முன்பாக எப்பொழுதும் குற்றமற்ற மனச்சாட்சியை உடையவனாயிருக்கப் பிரயாசப்படுகிறேன்.

And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.

அநேக வருஷங்களுக்குப்பின்பு நான் என் ஜனத்தாருக்குத் தர்மப்பணத்தை ஒப்புவிக்கவும், காணிக்கைகளைச் செலுத்தவும் வந்தேன்.

Now after many years I came to bring alms to my nation, and offerings.

அப்பொழுது கூட்டமில்லாமலும் அமளியில்லாமலும் தேவாலயத்திலே சுத்திகரித்துக்கொண்டவனாயிருக்கையில், ஆசியா நாட்டாரான சில யூதர்கள் என்னைக் கண்டார்கள்.

Whereupon certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, neither with multitude, nor with tumult.

அவர்களுக்கு என்பேரில் விரோதமான காரியம் ஏதாகிலும் உண்டாயிருந்தால், அவர்களே இங்கே வந்து, உமக்கு முன்பாகக் குற்றஞ்சாட்டவேண்டும்.

Who ought to have been here before thee, and object, if they had ought against me.

நான் ஆலோசனைச் சங்கத்தாருக்கு முன்பாக நின்றபோது அவர்கள் யாதொரு அநியாயத்தை என்னிடத்தில் கண்டதுண்டானால் இவர்களே அதைச் சொல்லட்டும்.

Or else let these same here say, if they have found any evil doing in me, while I stood before the council,

நான் அவர்களுக்குள்ளே நின்றபோது மரித்தோர் உயிர்த்தெழுந்திருப்பதைக்குறித்து, இன்று உங்களாலே நியாயந்தீர்க்கப்படுகிறேனென்று நான் சொன்ன ஒரு சொல்லினிமித்தமேயன்றி வேறொன்றினிமித்தமும் குற்றங்காணப்படவில்லையென்றான்.

Except it be for this one voice, that I cried standing among them, Touching the resurrection of the dead I am called in question by you this day.

இந்த மார்க்கத்தின் விஷயங்களை விவரமாய் அறிந்திருந்த பேலிக்ஸ் இவைகளைக் கேட்டபொழுது: சேனாதிபதியாகிய லீசியா வரும்போது உங்கள் காரியங்களைத் திட்டமாய் விசாரிப்பேன் என்று சொல்லி;

And when Felix heard these things, having more perfect knowledge of that way, he deferred them, and said, When Lysias the chief captain shall come down, I will know the uttermost of your matter.

பவுலைக் காவல்பண்ணவும், கண்டிப்பில்லாமல் நடத்தவும், அவனுக்கு ஊழியஞ்செய்கிறதற்கும் அவனைக் கண்டுகொள்ளுகிறதற்கும் வருகிற அவனுடைய மனுஷர்களில் ஒருவரையும் தடைசெய்யாதிருக்கவும் நூற்றுக்கு அதிபதியானவனுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டு, அவர்களைக் காத்திருக்கும்படி செய்தான்.

And he commanded a centurion to keep Paul, and to let him have liberty, and that he should forbid none of his acquaintance to minister or come unto him.

சில நாளைக்குப்பின்பு பேலிக்ஸ் யூதஸ்திரீயாகிய தன் மனைவி துருசில்லாளுடனேகூட வந்து, பவுலை அழைப்பித்து, கிறிஸ்துவைப்பற்றும் விசுவாசத்தைக் குறித்து அவன் சொல்லக்கேட்டான்.

And after certain days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ.

அவன், நீதியையும், இச்சையடக்கத்தையும், இனிவரும் நியாயத்தீர்ப்பையும்குறித்துப் பேசுகையில், பேலிக்ஸ் பயமடைந்து: இப்பொழுது நீ போகலாம், எனக்குச் சமயமானபோது உன்னை அழைப்பிப்பேன் என்றான்.

And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.

மேலும், அவன் பவுலை விடுதலைபண்ணும்படி தனக்கு அவன் பணங்கொடுப்பானென்று நம்பிக்கையுள்ளவனாயிருந்தான்; அதினிமித்தம் அவன் அநேகந்தரம் அவனை அழைத்து, அவனுடனே பேசினான்.

He hoped also that money should have been given him of Paul, that he might loose him: wherefore he sent for him the oftener, and communed with him.

இரண்டு வருஷம் சென்றபின்பு பேலிக்ஸ் என்பவனுக்குப் பதிலாய்ப் பொர்க்கியுபெஸ்து தேசாதிபதியாக வந்தான்; அப்பொழுது பேலிக்ஸ் யூதருக்கு தயவுசெய்ய மனதாய்ப் பவுலைக் காவலில் வைத்துவிட்டுப்போனான்.

But after two years Porcius Festus came into Felix' room: and Felix, willing to shew the Jews a pleasure, left Paul bound.
