ஏசாயா அத்தியாயம் 27

அக்காலத்திலே கர்த்தர் லிவியாதான் என்னும் நீண்ட பாம்பை, லிவியாதான் என்னும் கோணலான சர்ப்பத்தையே, கடிதும் பெரிதும் பலத்ததுமான தமது பட்டயத்தால் தண்டிப்பார்; சமுத்திரத்தில் இருக்கிற வலுசர்ப்பத்தைக் கொன்றுபோடுவார்.

In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.

அக்காலத்திலே நல்ல திராட்சரசத்தைத் தரும் திராட்சத்தோட்டம் உண்டாயிருக்கும்; அதைக் குறித்துப் பாடுங்கள்.

In that day sing ye unto her, A vineyard of red wine.

கர்த்தராகிய நான் அதைக் காப்பாற்றி, அடிக்கடி அதற்குத் தண்ணீர்ப்பாய்ச்சி, ஒருவரும் அதைச் சேதப்படுத்தாதபடிக்கு அதை இரவும்பகலும் காத்துக்கொள்வேன்.

I the LORD do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.

உக்கிரம் என்னிடத்தில் இல்லை; முட்செடியையும் நெரிஞ்சிலையும் எனக்கு விரோதமாய் யுத்தத்தில் கொண்டுவருகிறவன் யார்? நான் அவைகள்மேல் வந்து, அவைகளை ஏகமாய்க் கொளுத்திவிடுவேன்;

Fury is not in me: who would set the briers and thorns against me in battle? I would go through them, I would burn them together.

இல்லாவிட்டால் அவன் என்பெலனைப் பற்றிக்கொண்டு என்னோடே ஒப்புரவாகட்டும்; அவன் என்னோடே ஒப்புரவாவான்.

Or let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.

யாக்கோபு வேர்பற்றி, இஸ்ரவேல் பூத்துக்காய்த்து உலகத்தைப் பலனால் நிரப்பும் நாட்கள் வரும்.

He shall cause them that come of Jacob to take root: Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit.

அவர் அவனை அடித்தவர்களை அடித்ததுபோல இவனை அடிக்கிறாரோ? அவர்கள் கொல்லப்படும் கொலையாய் இவன் கொல்லப்படுகிறானோ?

Hath he smitten him, as he smote those that smote him? or is he slain according to the slaughter of them that are slain by him?

தேவரீர் ஜனத்தைத் துரத்திவிடுகையில் மட்டாய் அதனோடே வழக்காடுகிறீர்; கொண்டல் காற்றடிக்கிற நாளிலே அவர் தம்முடைய கடுங்காற்றினால் அதை விலக்கிவிடுகிறார்.

In measure, when it shooteth forth, thou wilt debate with it: he stayeth his rough wind in the day of the east wind.

ஆகையால், அதினால் யாக்கோபின் அக்கிரமம் நிக்கிரகம்பண்ணப்படும்; தோப்புவிக்கிரகங்களும் சிலைகளும் இனி நிற்காதபடி அவர்கள் பலிபீடங்களின் கல்லுகளையெல்லாம் நொறுக்கப்பட்ட சுண்ணாம்பு கல்லுகளாக்கிவிடும்போது, அவர்களுடைய பாவத்தை அவர் அகற்றுவாரென்பதே அதினால் உண்டாகும் பலன்.

By this therefore shall the iniquity of Jacob be purged; and this is all the fruit to take away his sin; when he maketh all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in sunder, the groves and images shall not stand up.

அரணான நகரம் அவாந்தரையாகும், அந்த வாசஸ்தலம் தள்ளுண்டு வனாந்தரத்தைப்போல விட்டுவிடப்பட்டதாயிருக்கும்; கன்றுக்குட்டிகள் அங்கே மேய்ந்து, அங்கே படுத்துக்கொண்டு, அதின் தழைகளைத் தின்னும்.

Yet the defenced city shall be desolate, and the habitation forsaken, and left like a wilderness: there shall the calf feed, and there shall he lie down, and consume the branches thereof.

அதின் கொப்புகள் உலரும்போது ஒடிந்துபோகும்; ஸ்திரீகள் வந்து அவைகளைக் கொளுத்திவிடுவார்கள்; அது உணர்வுள்ள ஜனமல்ல; ஆகையால் அதை உண்டாக்கினவர் அதற்கு இரங்காமலும், அதை உருவாக்கினவர் அதற்குக் கிருபைசெய்யாமலும் இருப்பார்.

When the boughs thereof are withered, they shall be broken off: the women come, and set them on fire: for it is a people of no understanding: therefore he that made them will not have mercy on them, and he that formed them will shew them no favour.

அக்காலத்திலே, கர்த்தர் ஆற்றங்கரையின் விளைவுதொடங்கி எகிப்தின் நதிமட்டும் போரடிப்பார்; இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரே, நீங்கள் ஒவ்வொருவராய்ச் சேர்க்கப்படுவீர்கள்.

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall beat off from the channel of the river unto the stream of Egypt, and ye shall be gathered one by one, O ye children of Israel.

அக்காலத்திலே பெரிய எக்காளம் ஊதப்படும்; அப்பொழுது, அசீரியா தேசத்திலே சிதறடிக்கப்பட்டவர்களும், எகிப்துதேசத்திலே துரத்திவிடப்பட்டவர்களும் வந்து, எருசலேமிலுள்ள பரிசுத்த பர்வதத்திலே கர்த்தரைப் பணிந்துகொள்ளுவார்கள்.

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem.

ஏசாயா அத்தியாயம் 28

எப்பிராயீமுடைய வெறியரின் பெருமையான கிரீடத்துக்கு ஐயோ, மதுபானத்தால் மயக்கமடைந்தவர்களின் செழிப்பான பள்ளத்தாக்குடைய கொடுமுடியின்மேலுள்ள அலங்கார ஜோடிப்பு வாடிப்போகும் புஷ்பமே!

Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!

இதோ, திராணியும் வல்லமையுமுடைய ஒருவன் ஆண்டவரிடத்தில் இருக்கிறான்; அவன் கல்மழைப்போலவும், சங்காரப் புசல்போலவும், புரண்டுவருகிற பெருவெள்ளம்போலவும் வந்து, கையினாலே அதைத் தரையில் தள்ளிவிடுவான்.

Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand.

எப்பிராயீமுடைய வெறியரின் பெருமையான கிரீடம் காலால் மிதித்துப்போடப்படும்.

The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet:

செழிப்பான பள்ளத்தாக்குடைய கொடுமுடியின்மேலுள்ள அலங்கார ஜோடிப்பாகிய வாடிய புஷ்பம், பருவகாலத்துக்குமுன் பழுத்ததும், காண்கிறவன் பார்த்து, அது தன் கையில் இருக்கும்போதே விழுங்குகிறதுமான முதல் கனியைப்போல இருக்கும்.

And the glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be a fading flower, and as the hasty fruit before the summer; which when he that looketh upon it seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up.

அக்காலத்திலே சேனைகளின் கர்த்தர் தமது ஜனத்தில் மீதியானவர்களுக்கு மகிமையான கிரீடமாகவும், அலங்காரமான முடியாகவும்,

In that day shall the LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,

நியாயம் விசாரிக்க உட்காருகிறவனுக்கு நியாயத்தின் ஆவியாகவும், யுத்தத்தை அதின் வாசல்மட்டும் திருப்புகிறவர்களின் பராக்கிரமமாகவும் இருப்பார்.

And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.

ஆனாலும் இவர்களும் திராட்சரசத்தால் மயங்கி, மதுபானத்தால் வழிதப்பிப்போகிறார்கள்; ஆசாரியனும் தீர்க்கதரிசியும் மதுபானத்தால் மதிமயங்கி, திராட்சரசத்தால் விழுங்கப்பட்டு, சாராயத்தினால் வழிதப்பி, தீர்க்கதரிசனத்தில் மோசம்போய், நியாயந்தீர்க்கிறதில் இடறுகிறார்கள்.

But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

போஜனபீடங்களெல்லாம் வாந்தியினாலும் அசுத்தத்தினாலும் நிறைந்திருக்கிறது; சுத்தமான இடமில்லை.

For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.

அவர் யாருக்கு அறிவைப் போதிப்பார்? யாருக்கு உபதேசத்தை உணர்த்துவார்? பால்மறந்தவர்களுக்கும், முலை மறக்கப்பண்ணப்பட்டவர்களுக்குமே.

Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.

கற்பனையின்மேல் கற்பனையும் கற்பனையின்மேல் கற்பனையும், பிரமாணத்தின்மேல் பிரமாணமும், பிரமாணத்தின்மேல் பிரமாணமும், இங்கே கொஞ்சமும் அங்கே கொஞ்சமுமாம் என்கிறார்கள்.

For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

பரியாச உதடுகளினாலும் அந்நிய பாஷையினாலும் இந்த ஜனத்தோடே பேசுவார்.

For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

இதுவே நீங்கள் இளைத்தவனை இளைப்பாறப்பண்ணத்தக்க இளைப்பாறுதல்; இதுவே ஆறுதல் என்று அவர்களோடே அவர் சொன்னாலும் கேட்கமாட்டோம் என்கிறார்கள்.

To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

ஆதலால் அவர்கள் போய், பின்னிட்டு விழுந்து, நொறுங்கும்படிக்கும், சிக்குண்டு பிடிபடும்படிக்கும், கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தை அவர்களுக்குக் கற்பனையின்மேல் கற்பனையும், கற்பனையின்மேல் கற்பனையும், பிரமாணத்தின்மேல் பிரமாணமும், பிரமாணத்தின்மேல் பிரமாணமும், இங்கே கொஞ்சமும் அங்கே கொஞ்சமுமாக இருக்கும்.

But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

ஆகையால் எருசலேமிலுள்ள இந்த ஜனத்தை ஆளுகிற நிந்தனைக்காரரே, கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையைக் கேளுங்கள்.

Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.

நீங்கள்: மரணத்தோடே உடன்படிக்கையையும், பாதாளத்தோடே ஒப்பந்தமும் பண்ணினோம்; வாதை பெருவெள்ளமாய்ப் புரண்டுவந்தாலும் எங்களை அணுகாது; நாங்கள் பொய்யை எங்களுக்கு அடைக்கலமாக்கி, மாயையின் மறைவிலே வந்து அடைந்தோம் என்கிறீர்களே.

Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:

ஆதலால் கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் உரைக்கிறதாவது: இதோ, அஸ்திபாரமாக ஒரு கல்லை நான் சீயோனிலே வைக்கிறேன்; அது பரீட்சிக்கப்பட்டதும், விலையேறப்பெற்றதும், திட அஸ்திபாரமுள்ளதுமான மூலைக்கல்லாயிருக்கும், விசுவாசிக்கிறவன் பதறான்.

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.

நான் நியாயத்தை நூலும், நீதியைத் தூக்கு நூலுமாக வைப்பேன்; பொய் என்னும் அடைக்கலத்தைக் கல்மழை அழித்துவிடும்; மறைவிடத்தை ஜலப்பிரவாகம் அடித்துக்கொண்டுபோகும்.

Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.

நீங்கள் மரணத்தோடு செய்த உடன்படிக்கை விருதாவாகி, நீங்கள் பாதாளத்தோடு செய்த ஒப்பந்தம் நிற்காதேபோகும்; வாதை புரண்டுவரும்போது அதின்கீழ் மிதிக்கப்படுவீர்கள்.

And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.

அது புரண்டுவந்தமாத்திரத்தில் உங்களை அடித்துக்கொண்டுபோகும்; அது நாள்தோறும் இரவும்பகலும் புரண்டுவரும்; அதைப்பற்றிப் பிறக்குஞ்செய்தியைக் கேட்பதும் சஞ்சலத்தை உண்டாக்கும்.

From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.

கால் நீட்டப் படுக்கையின் நீளம்போதாது; மூடிக்கொள்ளப் போர்வையின் அகலமும் போதாது.

For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.

கர்த்தர் தமது கிரியையாகிய அபூர்வமான கிரியையைச் செய்யவும், தமது வேலையாகிய அபூர்வமான வேலையை நிறைவேற்றவும், அவர் பெராத்சீம் மலையிலே எழும்பினதுபோல எழும்பி, கிபியோனின் பள்ளத்தாக்கில் கோபங்கொண்டதுபோல கோபங்கொள்வார்.

For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.

இப்பொழுதும் உங்கள் கட்டுகள் பலத்துப்போகாதபடிக்குப் பரியாசம்பண்ணாதிருங்கள்; தேசம் அனைத்தின்மேலும் நிர்ணயிக்கப்பட்ட சங்காரத்தின் செய்தியைச் சேனைகளின் கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவராலே கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறேன்.

Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.

செவிகொடுத்து என் சத்தத்தைக் கேளுங்கள்; நான் சொல்வதைக் கவனித்துக் கேளுங்கள்.

Give ye ear, and hear my voice; hearken, and hear my speech.

உழுகிறவன் விதைக்கிறதற்காக நாள்தோறும் உழுகிறதுண்டோ? தன் நிலத்தைக் கொத்தி நாள்தோறும் பரம்படிக்கிறது உண்டோ?

Doth the plowman plow all day to sow? doth he open and break the clods of his ground?

அவன் அதை மேலாக நிரவினபின்பு, அதற்கேற்ற இடத்தில் உளுந்தைத் தெளித்து, சீரகத்தைத் தூவி, முதல்தரமான கோதுமையையும் தெரிந்துகொண்ட வாற்கோதுமையையும் கம்பையும் விதைக்கிறான் அல்லவோ?

When he hath made plain the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and the rie in their place?

அவனுடைய தேவன் அவனை நன்றாய்ப் போதித்து, அவனை உணர்த்துகிறார்.

For his God doth instruct him to discretion, and doth teach him.

உளுந்து தூலத்தாலே போரடிக்கப்படுகிறதில்லை; சீரகத்தின்மேல் வண்டியின் உருளைச் சுற்ற விடப்படுகிறதுமில்லை; உளுந்து கோலினாலும் சீரகம் மிலாற்றினாலும் அடிக்கப்படும்.

For the fitches are not threshed with a threshing instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about upon the cummin; but the fitches are beaten out with a staff, and the cummin with a rod.

அப்பத்துக்குத் தானியம் இடிக்கப்படும்; இடைவிடாமல் அவன் அதைப் போரடிக்கிறதில்லை; அவன் தன் வண்டியின் உருளையால் அதை நசுக்குகிறதுமில்லை, தன் குதிரைகளால் அதை நொறுக்குகிறதுமில்லை.

Bread corn is bruised; because he will not ever be threshing it, nor break it with the wheel of his cart, nor bruise it with his horsemen.

இதுவும் சேனைகளின் கர்த்தராலே உண்டாகிறது; அவர் ஆலோசனையில் ஆச்சரியமானவர், செயலில் மகத்துவமானவர்.

This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.

ஏசாயா அத்தியாயம் 29

தாவீது வாசம்பண்ணின நகரமாகிய அரியேலே, அரியேலே, ஐயோ! வருஷாவருஷம் பண்டிகைகளை அனுசரித்துவந்தாலும்,

Woe to Ariel, to Ariel, the city where David dwelt! add ye year to year; let them kill sacrifices.

அரியேலுக்கு இடுக்கம் உண்டாக்குவேன்; அப்பொழுது துக்கமும் சலிப்பும் உண்டாகும்; அது எனக்கு அரியேலாகத்தான் இருக்கும்.

Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be heaviness and sorrow: and it shall be unto me as Ariel.

உன்னைச் சூழப் பாளயமிறங்கி, உன்னைத் தெற்றுகளால் முற்றிக்கைபோட்டு, உனக்கு விரோதமாகக் கொத்தளங்களை எடுப்பிப்பேன்.

And I will camp against thee round about, and will lay siege against thee with a mount, and I will raise forts against thee.

அப்பொழுது நீ தாழ்த்தப்பட்டுத் தரையிலிருந்து பேசுவாய்; உன் பேச்சுப் பணிந்ததாய் மண்ணிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு, உன் சத்தம் அஞ்சனம்பார்க்கிறவனுடைய சத்தத்தைப்போல் தரையிலிருந்து முணுமுணுத்து, உன் வாக்கு மண்ணிலிருந்து கசுகுசென்று உரைக்கும்.

And thou shalt be brought down, and shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall be low out of the dust, and thy voice shall be, as of one that hath a familiar spirit, out of the ground, and thy speech shall whisper out of the dust.

உன்மேல் வருகிற அந்நியரின் திரள் பொடித்தூளத்தனையாகவும், பலவந்தரின் திரள் பறக்கும் பதர்களத்தனையாகவும் இருக்கும்; அது திடீரென்று சடிதியாய்ச் சம்பவிக்கும்.

Moreover the multitude of thy strangers shall be like small dust, and the multitude of the terrible ones shall be as chaff that passeth away: yea, it shall be at an instant suddenly.

இடிகளினாலும், பூமி அதிர்ச்சியினாலும், பெரிய இரைச்சலினாலும், பெருங்காற்றினாலும், புசலினாலும், பட்சிக்கிற அக்கினிஜூவாலையினாலும், சேனைகளின் கர்த்தராலே விசாரிக்கப்படுவாய்.

Thou shalt be visited of the LORD of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire.

அரியேலின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ணுகிற திரளான சகல ஜாதிகளும், அதின்மேலும் அதின் அரண்மேலும் யுத்தம்பண்ணி, அதற்கு இடுக்கண் செய்கிற அனைவரும், இராக்காலத்தரிசனமாகிய சொப்பனத்தைக் காண்கிறவர்களுக்கு ஒப்பாயிருப்பார்கள்.

And the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel, even all that fight against her and her munition, and that distress her, shall be as a dream of a night vision.

அது, பசியாயிருக்கிறவன் தான் புசிக்கிறதாகச் சொப்பனம் கண்டும், விழிக்கும்போது அவன் வெறுமையாயிருக்கிறதுபோலவும், தாகமாயிருக்கிறவன், தான் குடிக்கிறதாகச் சொப்பனம் கண்டும், விழிக்கும்போது அவன் விடாய்த்து தவனத்தோடிருக்கிறதுபோலவும் சீயோன் மலைக்கு விரோதமாக யுத்தம்பண்ணுகிற திரளான சகல ஜாதிகளும் இருக்கும்.

It shall even be as when an hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion.

தரித்துநின்று திகையுங்கள்; பிரமித்துக் கூப்பிடுங்கள்; வெறித்திருக்கிறார்கள், திராட்சரசத்தினால் அல்ல; தள்ளாடுகிறார்கள், மதுபானத்தினால் அல்ல.

Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.

கர்த்தர் உங்கள்மேல் கனநித்திரையின் ஆவியை வரப்பண்ணி, உங்கள் கண்களை அடைத்து, ஞானதிருஷ்டிக்காரராகிய உங்கள் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளுக்கும் தலைவர்களுக்கும் முக்காடு போட்டார்.

For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.

ஆதலால் தரிசனமெல்லாம் உங்களுக்கு முத்திரிக்கப்பட்ட புஸ்தகத்தின் வசனங்களைப்போலிருக்கும்; வாசிக்க அறிந்திருக்கிற ஒருவனுக்கு அதைக் கொடுத்து; நீ இதை வாசி என்றால், அவன்: இது என்னால் கூடாது, இது முத்திரித்திருக்கிறது என்பான்.

And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:

அல்லது வாசிக்கத் தெரியாதவனிடத்தில் புஸ்தகத்தைக் கொடுத்து; நீ இதை வாசி என்றால், அவன்: எனக்கு வாசிக்கத் தெரியாது என்பான்.

And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.

இந்த ஜனங்கள் தங்கள் வாயினால் என்னிடத்தில் சேர்ந்து, தங்கள் உதடுகளினால் என்னைக் கனம்பண்ணுகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் இருதயமோ எனக்குத் தூரமாய் விலகியிருக்கிறது; அவர்கள் எனக்குப் பயப்படுகிற பயம் மனுஷராலே போதிக்கப்பட்ட கற்பனையாயிருக்கிறது.

Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

ஆதலால் இதோ, நான் அற்புதமும் ஆச்சரியமுமான பிரகாரமாக இந்த ஜனங்களுக்குள்ளே ஒரு அதிசயத்தைச் செய்வேன்; அவர்களுடைய ஞானிகளின் ஞானம் கெட்டு, அவர்களுடைய விவேகிகளின் விவேகம் மறைந்துபோகும் என்று ஆண்டவர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.

தங்கள் ஆலோசனையைக் கர்த்தருக்கு மறைக்கும்படிக்கு மறைவிடங்களில் ஒளித்து, தங்கள் கிரியைகளை அந்தகாரத்தில் நடப்பித்து: நம்மைக் காண்கிறவர் யார்? நம்மை அறிகிறவர் யார்? என்கிறவர்களுக்கு ஐயோ!

Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?

ஆ, நீங்கள் எவ்வளவு மாறுபாடுள்ளவர்கள்! குயவன் களிமண்ணுக்குச் சமானமாக எண்ணப்படலாமோ? உண்டாக்கப்பட்டது தன்னை உண்டாக்கினவரைக்குறித்து: அவர் என்னை உண்டாக்கினதில்லை என்றும்; உருவாக்கப்பட்டது தன்னை உருவாக்கினவரைக்குறித்து: அவருக்குப் புத்தியில்லையென்றும் சொல்லத்தகுமோ?

Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?

இன்னும் கொஞ்சக்காலத்திலல்லவோ லீபனோன் செழிப்பான வயல்வெளியாக மாறும்; செழிப்பான வயல்வெளி காடாக எண்ணப்படும்.

Is it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest?

அக்காலத்திலே செவிடர் புஸ்தகத்தின் வசனங்களைக் கேட்பார்கள்; குருடரின் கண்கள் இருளுக்கும் அந்தகாரத்துக்கும் நீங்கலாகிப் பார்வையடையும்.

And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.

சிறுமையானவர்கள் கர்த்தருக்குள் மிகவும் மகிழ்ந்து, மனுஷரில் எளிமையானவர்கள் இஸ்ரவேலின் பரிசுத்தருக்குள் களிகூருவார்கள்.

The meek also shall increase their joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

கொடியன் அற்றுப்போவான், சக்கந்தக்காரன் இல்லாமற்போவான்.

For the terrible one is brought to nought, and the scorner is consumed, and all that watch for iniquity are cut off:

ஒரு வார்த்தையினிமித்தம் மனுஷனைக் குற்றப்படுத்தி, நியாயவாசலில் தங்களைக் கடிந்துகொள்ளுகிறவனுக்குக் கண்ணிவைத்து, நீதிமானை நிர்நிமித்தமாய்த் துரத்தி, இப்படி அக்கிரமஞ்செய்ய வகைதேடுகிற யாவரும் சங்கரிக்கப்படுவார்கள்.

That make a man an offender for a word, and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate, and turn aside the just for a thing of nought.

ஆகையால், ஆபிரகாமை மீட்டுக்கொண்ட கர்த்தர் யாக்கோபின் வம்சத்தைக்குறித்து: இனி யாக்கோபு வெட்கப்படுவதில்லை; இனி அவன் முகம் செத்துப்போவதுமில்லை.

Therefore thus saith the LORD, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob, Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale.

அவன் என் கரங்களின் செயலாகிய தன் பிள்ளைகளை தன் நடுவிலே காணும்போது, என் நாமத்தைப் பரிசுத்தப்படுத்துவார்கள்; யாக்கோபின் பரிசுத்தரை அவர்கள் பரிசுத்தப்படுத்தி, இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனுக்குப் பயப்படுவார்கள்.

But when he seeth his children, the work of mine hands, in the midst of him, they shall sanctify my name, and sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall fear the God of Israel.

வழுவிப்போகிற மனதை உடையவர்கள் புத்திமான்களாகி, முறுமுறுக்கிறவர்கள் உபதேசம் கற்றுக்கொள்ளுவார்கள்.

They also that erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine.

அப்போஸ்தலர் அத்தியாயம் 7

பிரதான ஆசாரியன் அவனை நோக்கி: காரியம் இப்படியாயிருக்கிறது என்று கேட்டான்.

Then said the high priest, Are these things so?

அதற்கு அவன்: சகோதரரே, பிதாக்களே, கேளுங்கள். நம்முடைய பிதாவாகிய ஆபிரகாம் காரானூரிலே குடியிருக்கிறதற்கு முன்னமே மெசொப்பொத்தாமியா நாட்டிலே இருக்கும்போது மகிமையின் தேவன் அவனுக்குத் தரிசனமாகி:

And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,

நீ உன் தேசத்தையும் உன் இனத்தையும் விட்டுப் புறப்பட்டு, நான் உனக்குக் காண்பிக்கும் தேசத்துக்கு வா என்றார்.

And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.

அப்பொழுது அவன் கல்தேயர் தேசத்தைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டு, காரானூரிலே வாசம்பண்ணினான். அவனுடைய தகப்பன் மரித்தபின்பு, அவ்விடத்தை விட்டு நீங்கள் இப்பொழுது குடியிருக்கிற இத்தேசத்திற்கு அவனை அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவந்து குடியிருக்கும்படி செய்தார்.

Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.

இதிலே ஒரு அடி நிலத்தையாகிலும் அவனுடைய கையாட்சிக்குக் கொடாமலிருக்கையில், அவனுக்குப் பிள்ளையில்லாதிருக்கும்போது: உனக்கும் உனக்குப் பின்வரும் உன் சந்ததிக்கும் இதைச் சுதந்தரமாகத் தருவேன் என்று அவனுக்கு வாக்குத்தத்தம்பண்ணினார்.

And he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child.

அந்தப்படி தேவன் அவனை நோக்கி: உன் சந்ததியார் அந்நிய தேசத்தில் சஞ்சரிப்பார்கள்; அத்தேசத்தார் அவர்களை அடிமைகளாக்கி, நானூறு வருஷம் துன்பப்படுத்துவார்கள்.

And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat them evil four hundred years.

அவர்களை அடிமைப்படுத்தும் ஜனத்தையோ நான் ஆக்கினைக்குட்படுத்துவேன். அதற்குப்பின்பு அவர்கள் புறப்பட்டுவந்து இவ்விடத்திலே எனக்கு ஆராதனை செய்வார்கள் என்றார்.

And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place.

மேலும் விருத்தசேதன உடன்படிக்கையையும் அவனுக்கு ஏற்படுத்தினார். அந்தப்படியே அவன் ஈசாக்கைப் பெற்றபோது, எட்டாம் நாளிலே அவனை விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணினான். ஈசாக்கு யாக்கோபையும், யாக்கோபு பன்னிரண்டு கோத்திரப்பிதாக்களையும் பெற்றார்கள்.

And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.

அந்தக் கோத்திரப்பிதாக்கள் பொறாமைகொண்டு யோசேப்பை எகிப்துக்குக் கொண்டுபோகும்படியாக விற்றுப்போட்டார்கள்.

And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,

தேவனோ அவனுடனேகூட இருந்து, எல்லா உபத்திரவங்களினின்றும் அவனை விடுவித்து, எகிப்தின் ராஜாவாகிய பார்வோன் சமுகத்திலே அவனுக்குக் கிருபையையும் ஞானத்தையும் அருளினார்; அந்த ராஜா அவனை எகிப்துதேசத்திற்கும் தன் வீடனைத்திற்கும் அதிகாரியாக ஏற்படுத்தினான்.

And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.

பின்பு எகிப்து கானான் என்னும் தேசங்களிலெங்கும் பஞ்சமும் மிகுந்த வருத்தமும் உண்டாகி, நம்முடைய பிதாக்களுக்கு ஆகாரம் கிடையாமற்போயிற்று.

Now there came a dearth over all the land of Egypt and Chanaan, and great affliction: and our fathers found no sustenance.

அப்பொழுது எகிப்திலே தானியம் உண்டென்று யாக்கோபு கேள்விப்பட்டு, நம்முடைய பிதாக்களை முதலாந்தரம் அனுப்பினான்.

But when Jacob heard that there was corn in Egypt, he sent out our fathers first.

இரண்டாந்தரம் யோசேப்பு தன்னுடைய சகோதரருக்குத் தன்னைத் தெரியப்படுத்தினான். யோசேப்புடைய வம்சமும் பார்வோனுக்குத் தெரியவந்தது.

And at the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren; and Joseph's kindred was made known unto Pharaoh.

பின்பு யோசேப்பு, தன்னுடைய தகப்பன் யாக்கோபும் தன்னுடைய இனத்தார் யாவருமாகிய, எழுபத்தைந்துபேரை அழைக்க அனுப்பினான்.

Then sent Joseph, and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen souls.

அந்தப்படி யாக்கோபு எகிப்துக்குப் போனான். அவனும் நம்முடைய பிதாக்களும் மரித்து,

So Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, he, and our fathers,

அங்கேயிருந்து சீகேமுக்குக் கொண்டுவரப்பட்டு, ஆபிரகாம் சீகேமின் தகப்பனாகிய ஏமோருடைய சந்ததியாரிடத்தில் ரொக்கக்கிரயத்துக்கு வாங்கியிருந்த கல்லறையில் வைக்கப்பட்டார்கள்.

And were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor the father of Sychem.

ஆபிரகாமுக்கு தேவன் ஆணையிட்டு அருளின வாக்குத்தத்தம் நிறைவேறுங்காலம் சமீபித்தபோது,

But when the time of the promise drew nigh, which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,

யோசேப்பை அறியாத வேறொரு ராஜா தோன்றின காலமளவும், ஜனங்கள் எகிப்திலே பலுகிப் பெருகினார்கள்.

Till another king arose, which knew not Joseph.

அவன் நம்முடைய ஜனங்களை வஞ்சனையாய் நடப்பித்து, நம்முடைய பிதாக்களின் குழந்தைகள் உயிரோடிராதபடிக்கு அவர்கள் அவைகளை வெளியே போட்டுவிடும்படி செய்து, அவர்களை உபத்திரவப்படுத்தினான்.

The same dealt subtilly with our kindred, and evil entreated our fathers, so that they cast out their young children, to the end they might not live.

அக்காலத்திலே மோசே பிறந்து, திவ்விய சவுந்தரியமுள்ளவனாயிருந்து, மூன்று மாதமளவும் தன் தகப்பன் வீட்டிலே வளர்க்கப்பட்டான்.

In which time Moses was born, and was exceeding fair, and nourished up in his father's house three months:

அவன் வெளியே போட்டுவிடப்பட்டபோது, பார்வோனுடைய குமாரத்தி அவனை எடுத்துத் தனக்குப் பிள்ளையாக வளர்த்தாள்.

And when he was cast out, Pharaoh's daughter took him up, and nourished him for her own son.

மோசே எகிப்தியருடைய சகல சாஸ்திரங்களிலும் கற்பிக்கப்பட்டு, வாக்கிலும் செய்கையிலும் வல்லவனானான்.

And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.

அவனுக்கு நாற்பது வயதானபோது, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரராகிய தன்னுடைய சகோதரரைக் கண்டு சந்திக்கும்படி அவனுடைய இருதயத்தில் எண்ணமுண்டாயிற்று.

And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel.

அப்பொழுது அவர்களில் ஒருவன் அநியாயமாய் நடத்தப்படுகிறதை அவன் கண்டு, அவனுக்குத் துணைநின்று, எகிப்தியனை வெட்டி, துன்பப்பட்டவனுக்கு நியாயஞ்செய்தான்.

And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian:

தன்னுடைய கையினாலே தேவன் தங்களுக்கு இரட்சிப்பைத் தருவாரென்பதைத் தன்னுடைய சகோதரர் அறிந்து கொள்வார்களென்று அவன் நினைத்தான்; அவர்களோ அதை அறியவில்லை.

For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.

மறுநாளிலே சண்டைபண்ணிக்கொண்டிருக்கிற இரண்டுபேருக்கு அவன் எதிர்ப்பட்டு: மனுஷரே, நீங்கள் சகோதரராயிருக்கிறீர்கள்; ஒருவருக்கொருவர் அநியாயஞ்செய்கிறதென்ன என்று, அவர்களைச் சமாதானப்படுத்தும்படி பேசினான்.

And the next day he shewed himself unto them as they strove, and would have set them at one again, saying, Sirs, ye are brethren; why do ye wrong one to another?

பிறனுக்கு அநியாயஞ்செய்தவன் அவனைப் பிடித்துத் தள்ளி: எங்கள்மேல் அதிகாரியாகவும், நியாயாதிபதியாகவும் உன்னை ஏற்படுத்தினவன் யார்?

But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?

நேற்று நீ அந்த எகிப்தியனைக் கொன்றதுபோல என்னையும் கொன்றுபோட மனதாயிருக்கிறாயோ என்றான்.

Wilt thou kill me, as thou diddest the Egyptian yesterday?

இந்த வார்த்தையினிமித்தம் மோசே ஓடிப்போய், மீதியான் தேசத்திலே சஞ்சரித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான்; அங்கே இருக்கும்போது அவனுக்கு இரண்டு குமாரர்கள் பிறந்தார்கள்.

Then fled Moses at this saying, and was a stranger in the land of Madian, where he begat two sons.

நாற்பது வருஷம் சென்றபின்பு, சீனாய்மலையின் வனாந்தரத்திலே கர்த்தருடைய தூதனானவர் முட்செடி எரிகிற அக்கினிஜூவாலையிலே அவனுக்குத் தரிசனமானார்.

And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.

மோசே அந்தத் தரிசனத்தைக் கண்டு, அதிசயப்பட்டு, அதை உற்றுப்பார்க்கும்படி சமீபித்துவருகையில்:

When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came unto him,

நான் ஆபிரகாமின் தேவனும் ஈசாக்கின் தேவனும் யாக்கோபின் தேவனுமாகிய உன் பிதாக்களுடைய தேவனாயிருக்கிறேன் என்று கர்த்தர் திருவுளம்பற்றின சத்தம் அவனுக்கு உண்டாயிற்று, அப்பொழுது மோசே நடுக்கமடைந்து, உற்றுப்பார்க்கத் துணியாமலிருந்தான்.

Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold.

பின்னும் கர்த்தர் அவனை நோக்கி: உன் பாதங்களிலிருக்கிற பாதரட்சைகளைக் கழற்றிப்போடு; நீ நிற்கிற இடம் பரிசுத்த பூமியாயிருக்கிறது.

Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest is holy ground.

எகிப்திலிருக்கிற என் ஜனத்தின் உபத்திரவத்தை நான் பார்க்கவே பார்த்து, அவர்கள் பெருமூச்சைக்கேட்டு, அவர்களை விடுவிக்கும்படி இறங்கினேன்; ஆகையால், நீ வா, நான் உன்னை எகிப்திற்கு அனுப்புவேன் என்றார்.

I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send thee into Egypt.

உன்னை அதிகாரியாகவும் நியாயாதிபதியாகவும் ஏற்படுத்தினவன் யார் என்று சொல்லி அவர்கள் மறுதலித்திருந்த இந்த மோசேயைத்தானே தேவன், முட்செடியில் அவனுக்குத் தரிசனமான தூதனாலே தலைவனாகவும் மீட்பனாகவும் அனுப்பினார்.

This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.

இவனே அவர்களை அங்கேயிருந்து அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவந்து, எகிப்து தேசத்திலேயும் சிவந்த சமுத்திரத்திலேயும், நாற்பது வருஷகாலமாய் வனாந்தரத்திலேயும், அற்புதங்களையும் அடையாளங்களையும் செய்தான்.

He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.

இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரை நோக்கி: உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உங்கள் சகோதரரிலிருந்து என்னைப்போல ஒரு தீர்க்கதரிசியை உங்களுக்காக எழும்பப்பண்ணுவார், அவருக்குச் செவிகொடுப்பீர்களாக என்று சொன்னவன் இந்த மோசேயே.

This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.

சீனாய்மலையில் தன்னுடனே பேசின தூதனோடும் நம்முடைய பிதாக்களோடுங்கூட வனாந்தரத்திலே சபைக்குள்ளிருந்தவனும், நமக்குக் கொடுக்கும்படி ஜீவவாக்கியங்களைப் பெற்றவனும் இவனே.

This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:

இவனுக்கு நம்முடைய பிதாக்கள் கீழ்ப்படிய மனதாயிராமல், இவனைத் தள்ளிவிட்டு, தங்கள் இருதயங்களில் எகிப்துக்குத் திரும்பி,

To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,

ஆரோனை நோக்கி: எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து எங்களை அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவந்த அந்த மோசேக்கு என்ன சம்பவித்ததோ அறியோம்; ஆதலால் எங்களுக்கு முன்செல்லும் தெய்வங்களை எங்களுக்கு உண்டுபண்ணும் என்று சொல்லி;

Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

அந்நாட்களில் ஒரு கன்றுக்குட்டியை உண்டுபண்ணி, அந்த விக்கிரகத்திற்குப் பலியிட்டு, தங்கள் கையின் கிரியைகளில் களிகூர்ந்தார்கள்.

And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.

அப்பொழுது தேவன் அவர்களை விட்டு விலகி, வானசேனைக்கு ஆராதனை செய்ய அவர்களை ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார். அதைக்குறித்து: இஸ்ரவேல் வம்சத்தாரே, நீங்கள் வனாந்தரத்திலிருந்த நாற்பது வருஷம்வரையில் காணிக்கைகளையும் பலிகளையும் எனக்குச் செலுத்தினீர்களோ என்றும்,

Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?

பணிந்துகொள்ளும்படி நீங்கள் உண்டாக்கின சொரூபங்களாகிய மோளோகினுடைய கூடாரத்தையும், உங்கள் தேவனாகிய ரெம்பான் என்னும் நட்சத்திர சொரூபத்தையும் சுமந்தீர்களே; ஆகையால் உங்களைப் பாபிலோனுக்கு அப்புறத்திலே குடிபோகப்பண்ணுவேன் என்றும், தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் புஸ்தகத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறதே.

Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.

மேலும் நீ பார்த்த மாதிரியின்படியே சாட்சியின் கூடாரத்தை உண்டுபண்ணுவாயாக என்று மோசேயுடனே பேசினவர் கட்டளையிட்டபிரகாரமாக, அந்தக் கூடாரம் வனாந்தரத்திலே நம்முடைய பிதாக்களோடு இருந்தது.

Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he had appointed, speaking unto Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen.

மேலும், யோசுவாவுடனேகூட நம்முடைய பிதாக்கள் அதைப் பெற்றுக்கொண்டு, தேவன் அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்திவிட்ட புறஜாதிகளுடைய தேசத்தை அவர்கள் கட்டிக்கொள்ளுகையில், அதை அந்த தேசத்தில் கொண்டு வந்து தாவீதின் நாள்வரைக்கும் வைத்திருந்தார்கள்.

Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David;

இவன் தேவனிடத்தில் தயவு பெற்றபடியினால், யாக்கோபின் தேவனுக்கு ஒரு வாசஸ்தலத்தைத் தான் கட்டவேண்டுமென்று விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணினான்.

Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.

சாலொமோனோ அவருக்கு ஆலயத்தைக் கட்டினான்.

But Solomon built him an house.

ஆகிலும் உன்னதமானவர் கைகளினால் செய்யப்பட்ட ஆலயங்களில் வாசமாயிரார்.

Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,

வானம் எனக்குச் சிங்காசனமும் பூமி எனக்குப் பாதபடியுமாயிருக்கிறது; எனக்காக நீங்கள் எப்படிப்பட்ட வீட்டைக் கட்டுவீர்கள்; நான் தங்கியிருக்கத்தக்க ஸ்தலம் எது;

Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?

இவைகள் எல்லாவற்றையும் என்னுடைய கரம் உண்டாக்கவில்லையா என்று கர்த்தர் உரைக்கிறார் என்று தீர்க்கதரிசி சொல்லியிருக்கிறானே.

Hath not my hand made all these things?

வணங்காக் கழுத்துள்ளவர்களே, இருதயத்திலும் செவிகளிலும் விருத்தசேதனம் பெறாதவர்களே, உங்கள் பிதாக்களைப்போல நீங்களும் பரிசுத்த ஆவிக்கு எப்பொழுதும் எதிர்த்துநிற்கிறீர்கள்.

Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

தீர்க்கதரிசிகளில் யாரை உங்கள் பிதாக்கள் துன்பப்படுத்தாமலிருந்தார்கள்? நீதிபரருடைய வருகையை முன்னறிவித்தவர்களையும் அவர்கள் கொலைசெய்தார்கள். இப்பொழுது நீங்கள் அவருக்குத் துரோகிகளும் அவரைக் கொலைசெய்த பாதகருமாயிருக்கிறீர்கள்.

Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:

தேவதூதரைக்கொண்டு நீங்கள் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தைப் பெற்றிருந்தும், அதைக் கைக்கொள்ளாமற்போனீர்கள் என்றான்.

Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.

இவைகளை அவர்கள் கேட்டபொழுது. மூர்க்கமடைந்து, அவனைப் பார்த்துப் பல்லைக் கடித்தார்கள்.

When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.

அவன் பரிசுத்த ஆவியினாலே நிறைந்தவனாய், வானத்தை அண்ணாந்துபார்த்து, தேவனுடைய மகிமையையும், தேவனுடைய வலதுபாரிசத்தில் இயேசுவானவர் நிற்கிறதையும் கண்டு:

But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

அதோ வானங்கள் திறந்திருக்கிறதையும், மனுஷகுமாரன் தேவனுடைய வலதுபாரிசத்தில் நிற்கிறதையும் காண்கிறேன் என்றான்.

And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் உரத்த சத்தமாய்க் கூக்குரலிட்டுத் தங்கள் காதுகளை அடைத்துக்கொண்டு, ஒருமனப்பட்டு அவன்மேல் பாய்ந்து,

Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,

அவனை நகரத்துக்குப் புறம்பே தள்ளி, அவனைக் கல்லெறிந்தார்கள். சாட்சிக்காரர் தங்கள் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கழற்றி, சவுல் என்னப்பட்ட ஒரு வாலிபனுடைய பாதத்தினருகே வைத்தார்கள்.

And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.

அப்பொழுது: கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுவே, என் ஆவியை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளும் என்று ஸ்தேவான் தொழுதுகொள்ளுகையில், அவனைக் கல்லெறிந்தார்கள்.

And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

அவனோ, முழங்காற்படியிட்டு: ஆண்டவரே, இவர்கள்மேல் இந்தப்பாவத்தைச் சுமத்தாதிரும் என்று மிகுந்த சத்தமிட்டுச் சொன்னான். இப்படிச் சொல்லி, நித்திரையடைந்தான்.

And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
