ஏசாயா அத்தியாயம் 3

இதோ, சேனைகளின் கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் எருசலேமிலிருந்தும் யூதாவிலிருந்தும் சகலவிதமான ஆதரவுகளாகிய அப்பமென்கிற எல்லா ஆதரவையும், தண்ணீரென்கிற எல்லா ஆதரவையும்;

For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,

பராக்கிரமசாலியையும், யுத்தவீரனையும், நியாயாதிபதியையும், தீர்க்கதரிசியையும், சாஸ்திரியையும், மூப்பனையும்;

The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,

ஐம்பதுபேருக்கு அதிபதியையும், கனம்பொருந்தினவனையும் ஆலோசனைக்காரனையும், தொழில்களில் சாமர்த்தியமுள்ளவனையும், சாதுரியனையும் விலக்குவார்.

The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.

வாலிபரை அவர்களுக்கு அதிபதிகளாகத் தருவேன் என்கிறார்; பிள்ளைகள் அவர்களை ஆளுவார்கள்.

And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.

ஜனங்கள் ஒடுக்கப்படுவார்கள்; ஒருவருக்கொருவரும், அயலானுக்கு அயலானும் விரோதமாயிருப்பார்கள்; வாலிபன் முதிர்வயதுள்ளவனுக்கும், கீழ்மகன் மேன்மகனுக்கும் இடும்பு செய்வான்.

And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.

அப்பொழுது ஒருவன் தன் தகப்பன் வீட்டானாகிய தன் சகோதரனைப்பிடித்து: உனக்கு வஸ்திரம் இருக்கிறது, நீ எங்களுக்கு அதிபதியாயிரு; கேட்டுக்கு இனமான இந்தக் காரியம் உன் கையின் கீழாவதாக என்று சொல்ல;

When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:

அவன் அந்நாளிலே தன் கையை உயர்த்தி: நான் சீர்ப்படுத்துகிறவனாயிருக்கமாட்டேன்; என் வீட்டிலே அப்பமுமில்லை வஸ்திரமுமில்லை; என்னை ஜனங்களுக்கு அதிபதியாக வைக்கவேண்டாம் என்பான்.

In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.

ஏனென்றால் எருசலேம் பாழாக்கப்பட்டது, யூதா விழுந்துபோயிற்று; அவர்கள் நாவும், அவர்கள் கிரியைகளும், கர்த்தருடைய மகிமையின் கண்களுக்கு எரிச்சல் உண்டாக்கத்தக்கதாக அவருக்கு விரோதமாயிருக்கிறது.

For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.

அவர்கள் முகப்பார்வை அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாய்ச் சாட்சியிடும்; அவர்கள் தங்கள் பாவத்தை மறைக்காமல், சோதோம் ஊராரைப்போல வெளிப்படுத்துகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் ஆத்துமாவுக்கு ஐயோ! தங்களுக்கே தீமையை வருவித்துக்கொள்ளுகிறார்கள்.

The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.

உங்களுக்கு நன்மையுண்டாகும் என்று நீதிமான்களுக்குச் சொல்லுங்கள்; அவர்கள் தங்கள் கிரியைகளின் பலனை அனுபவிப்பார்கள்.

Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.

துன்மார்க்கனுக்கு ஐயோ! அவனுக்குக் கேடு உண்டாகும்; அவன் கைகளின் பலன் அவனுக்குக் கிடைக்கும்.

Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.

பிள்ளைகள் என் ஜனங்களை ஒடுக்குகிறவர்களாயிருக்கிறார்கள்; ஸ்திரீகள் அவர்களை ஆளுகிறார்கள். என் ஜனமே, உன்னை நடத்துகிறவர்கள் உன்னை மோசம்போக்கி, நீ நடக்கவேண்டிய வழியை அழித்துப்போடுகிறார்கள்.

As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.

கர்த்தர் வழக்காட எழுந்திருந்து, ஜனங்களை நியாயந்தீர்க்க நிற்கிறார்.

The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.

கர்த்தர் தமது ஜனத்தின் மூப்பரையும், அதின் பிரபுக்களையும் நியாயம் விசாரிப்பார். நீங்களே இந்தத் திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தைப் பட்சித்துப்போட்டீர்கள்; சிறுமையானவனிடத்தில் கொள்ளையிட்ட பொருள் உங்கள் வீடுகளில் இருக்கிறது.

The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.

நீங்கள் என் ஜனத்தை நொறுக்கிச் சிறுமையானவர்களின் முகத்தை நெரிக்கிறது என்னவென்று சேனைகளின் கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் உரைக்கிறார்.

What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

பின்னும் கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறதாவது: சீயோன் குமாரத்திகள் அகந்தையாயிருந்து, கழுத்தை நெறித்து நடந்து, கண்களால் மருட்டிப்பார்த்து, ஒய்யாரமாய் நடந்து, தங்கள் கால்களில் சிலம்பு ஒலிக்கத் திரிகிறார்கள்.

Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:

ஆதலால் ஆண்டவர் சீயோன் குமாரத்திகளின் உச்சந்தலையை மொட்டையாக்குவார்; கர்த்தர் அவர்கள் மானத்தைக் குலைப்பார்.

Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts.

அந்நாளிலே ஆண்டவர் அவர்களுடைய ஆபரணங்களாகிய சிலம்புகளையும், சுட்டிகளையும், பிறைச்சிந்தாக்குகளையும்,

In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,

ஆரங்களையும், அஸ்தகடகங்களையும், தலைமுக்காடுகளையும்,

The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,

சிரபூஷணங்களையும், பாதசரங்களையும், மார்க்கச்சைகளையும், சுகந்தபரணிகளையும்,

The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,

தாயித்துகளையும், மோதிரங்களையும், மூக்குத்திகளையும்,

The rings, and nose jewels,

விநோத வஸ்திரங்களையும், சால்வைகளையும், போர்வைகளையும், குப்பிகளையும்,

The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,

கண்ணாடிகளையும், சல்லாக்களையும், குல்லாக்களையும், துப்பட்டாக்களையும் உரிந்துபோடுவார்.

The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.

அப்பொழுது, சுகந்தத்துக்குப் பதிலாகத் துர்க்கந்தமும், கச்சைக்குப் பதிலாகக் கயிறும், மயிர்ச்சுருளுக்குப் பதிலாக மொட்டையும், ஆடம்பரமான வஸ்திரங்களுக்குப் பதிலாக இரட்டுக்கச்சும், அழகுக்குப் பதிலாகக் கருகிப்போகுதலும் இருக்கும்.

And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.

உன் புருஷர் கட்கத்தினாலும், உன் பெலசாலிகள் யுத்தத்திலும் விழுவார்கள்.

Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.

அவளுடைய வாசல்கள் துக்கித்துப் புலம்பும்; அவள் வெறுமையாக்கப்பட்டுத் தரையிலே உட்காருவாள் என்கிறார்.

And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.

ஏசாயா அத்தியாயம் 4

அந்நாளில் ஏழு ஸ்திரீகள் ஒரே புருஷனைப் பிடித்து: நாங்கள் எங்கள் சொந்த ஆகாரத்தைப் புசித்து, எங்கள் சொந்த வஸ்திரத்தை உடுப்போம்; எங்கள் நிந்தை நீங்கும்படிக்கு உன் பேர்மாத்திரம் எங்கள்மேல் விளங்கட்டும் என்பார்கள்.

And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.

இஸ்ரவேலில் தப்பினவர்களுக்கு அந்நாளிலே கர்த்தரின் கிளை அலங்காரமும் மகிமையுமாயிருக்கும்; பூமியின் கனி அவர்களுக்குச் சிறப்பும் அலங்காரமுமாயிருக்கும்.

In that day shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel.

அப்பொழுது ஆண்டவர், சீயோன் குமாரத்திகளின் அழுக்கைக் கழுவி, நியாயத்தின் ஆவியினாலும், சுட்டெரிப்பின் ஆவியினாலும், எருசலேமின் இரத்தப்பழிகளை அதின் நடுவிலிருந்து நீக்கிவிடும்போது,

And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem:

சீயோனில் மீதியாயிருந்து, எருசலேமில் தரித்திருந்து ஜீவனுக்கென்று பேரெழுதப்பட்டவனெவனும் பரிசுத்தனென்று சொல்லப்படுவான்.

When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் சீயோன் மலையிலுள்ள எல்லா வாசஸ்தலங்களிலும், அதின் சபைகளின்மேலும், பகலில் மேகத்தையும் புகையையும், இரவில் கொழுந்துவிட்டு எரியும் அக்கினிப்பிரகாசத்தையும் உண்டாக்குவார்; மகிமையானவைகளின் மேலெல்லாம் காவல் உண்டாயிருக்கும்.

And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defence.

பகலிலே வெயிலுக்கு நிழலாகவும், பெருங்காற்றுக்கும் மழைக்கும் அடைக்கலமாகவும், மறைவிடமாகவும், ஒரு கூடாரம் உண்டாயிருக்கும்.

And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.

ஏசாயா அத்தியாயம் 5

இப்பொழுது நான் என் நேசரிடத்தில் அவருடைய திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தைக் குறித்து என் நேசருக்கேற்ற ஒரு பாட்டைப் பாடுவேன்; என் நேசருக்கு மகா செழிப்பான மேட்டிலே ஒரு திராட்சத்தோட்டம் உண்டு.

Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill:

அவர் அதை வேலியடைத்து, அதிலுள்ள கற்களைப் பொறுக்கி, அதிலே நற்குல திராட்சச்செடிகளை நட்டு, அதின் நடுவில் ஒரு கோபுரத்தைக்கட்டி, அதில் ஆலையையும் உண்டுபண்ணி, அது நல்ல திராட்சப்பழங்களைத் தருமென்று காத்திருந்தார்; அதுவோ கசப்பான பழங்களைத் தந்தது.

And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.

எருசலேமின் குடிகளே, யூதாவின் மனுஷரே, எனக்கும் என் திராட்சத்தோட்டத்துக்கும் நியாயந்தீருங்கள்.

And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard.

நான் என் திராட்சத்தோட்டத்திற்காகச் செய்யாத எந்த வேலையை அதற்கு இனிச் செய்யலாம்? அது நல்ல திராட்சப்பழங்களைத் தருமென்று நான் காத்திருக்க, அது கசப்பான பழங்களைத் தந்ததென்ன?

What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?

இப்போதும் நான் என் திராட்சத்தோட்டத்துக்குச் செய்வதை உங்களுக்கு அறிவிப்பேன்; அதின் வேலியை எடுத்துப்போடுவேன், அது மேய்ந்துபோடப்படும்; அதின் அடைப்பைத் தகர்ப்பேன், அது மிதியுண்டுபோகும்.

And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down:

அதைப் பாழாக்கிவிடுவேன்; அதின் கிளை நறுக்கப்படாமலும், களை கொத்தி எடுக்கப்படாமலும் போவதினால், முட்செடியும் நெரிஞ்சிலும் முளைக்கும்; அதின்மேல் மழை பெய்யாதபடிக்கு மேகங்களுக்கும் கட்டளையிடுவேன் என்கிறார்.

And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.

சேனைகளின் கர்த்தருடைய திராட்சத்தோட்டம் இஸ்ரவேலின் வம்சமே; அவருடைய மனமகிழ்ச்சியின் நாற்று யூதாவின் மனுஷரே; அவர் நியாயத்துக்குக் காத்திருந்தார், இதோ, கொடுமை; நீதிக்குக் காத்திருந்தார், இதோ, முறைப்பாடு.

For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.

தாங்கள்மாத்திரம் தேசத்தின் நடுவில் வாசமாயிருக்கும்படி மற்றவர்களுக்கு இடமில்லாமற்போகுமட்டும், வீட்டோடே வீட்டைச் சேர்த்து, வயலோடே வயலைக் கூட்டுகிறவர்களுக்கு ஐயோ!

Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!

சேனைகளின் கர்த்தர் என் செவி கேட்கச் சொன்னது: மெய்யாகவே அந்தத் திரளான வீடுகள் பாழாகும்; பெரியவைகளும் நேர்த்தியானவைகளுமாகிய வீடுகள் குடியில்லாதிருக்கும்.

In mine ears said the LORD of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.

பத்தேர் நிலமாகிய திராட்சத்தோட்டம் ஒரேபடி ரசம் தரும்; ஒரு கல விதை ஒரு குறுணி விளையும்.

Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of an homer shall yield an ephah.

சாராயத்தை நாடி அதிகாலமே எழுந்து, மதுபானம் தங்களைச் சூடாக்கும்படி தரித்திருந்து, இருட்டிப்போகுமளவும் குடித்துக்கொண்டேயிருக்கிறவர்களுக்கு ஐயோ!

Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them!

அவர்கள் சுரமண்டலத்தையும், தம்புருவையும், மேளத்தையும், நாகசுரத்தையும், மதுபானத்தையும் வைத்து விருந்துகொண்டாடுகிறார்கள்; ஆனாலும் கர்த்தரின் கிரியையை நோக்குகிறதுமில்லை; அவர் கரத்தின் செய்கையைச் சிந்திக்கிறதுமில்லை.

And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands.

என் ஜனங்கள் அறிவில்லாமையினால் சிறைப்பட்டுப்போகிறார்கள்; அவர்களில் கனமுள்ளவர்கள் பட்டினியினால் தொய்ந்துபோகிறார்கள்; அவர்களுடைய திரளான கூட்டத்தார் தாகத்தால் நாவறண்டு போகிறார்கள்.

Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.

அதினிமித்தம் பாதாளம் தன்னை விரிவாக்கி, தன் வாயை ஆவென்று மட்டில்லாமல் திறந்தது; அவர்கள் மகிமையும், அவர்கள் திரள் கூட்டமும், அவர்கள் ஆடம்பரமும், அவர்களில் களிகூருகிறவர்களும் அதற்குள் இறங்கிப்போவார்கள்.

Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.

சிறியவன் தாழ்த்தப்படுவான், பெரியவனும் தாழ்ச்சியடைவான்; மேட்டிமையானவர்களின் கண்கள் தாழ்ந்துபோகும்.

And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:

சேனைகளின் கர்த்தர் நியாயத்தீர்ப்பினால் உயர்ந்து, பரிசுத்தமுள்ள தேவன் நீதியினால் பரிசுத்தராய் விளங்குவார்.

But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness.

அப்பொழுது ஆட்டுக்குட்டிகள் கண்டவிடமெல்லாம் மேயும்; கொழுத்தவர்களுடையதாயிருந்து பாழாய்ப்போன நிலங்களைப் பரதேசிகள் அநுபவிப்பார்கள்.

Then shall the lambs feed after their manner, and the waste places of the fat ones shall strangers eat.

மாயையின் கயிறுகளால் அக்கிரமத்தையும், வண்டியின் வடங்களால் பாவத்தையும் இழுத்துக்கொண்டு வந்து,

Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope:

நாம் பார்க்கும்படி அவர் தீவிரித்துத் தமது கிரியையைச் சீக்கிரமாய் நடப்பிக்கட்டுமென்றும், இஸ்ரவேலின் பரிசுத்தருடைய ஆலோசனையை நாம் அறியும்படி அது சமீபித்து வரட்டுமென்றும் சொல்லுகிறவர்களுக்கு ஐயோ!

That say, Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it!

தீமையை நன்மையென்றும், நன்மையைத் தீமையென்றும் சொல்லி, இருளை வெளிச்சமும், வெளிச்சத்தை இருளுமாகப் பாவித்து, கசப்பைத் தித்திப்பும், தித்திப்பைக் கசப்புமென்று சாதிக்கிறவர்களுக்கு ஐயோ!

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

தங்கள் பார்வைக்கு ஞானிகளும், தங்கள் எண்ணத்துக்குப் புத்திமான்களுமாய் இருக்கிறவர்களுக்கு ஐயோ!

Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

சாராயத்தைக் குடிக்க வீரரும், மதுவைக் கலந்துவைக்கப் பராக்கிரமசாலிகளுமாயிருந்து,

Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:

பரிதானத்திற்காகக் குற்றவாளியை நீதிமானாகத் தீர்த்து, நீதிமானின் நியாயத்தை அவனுக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் புரட்டுகிறவர்களுக்கு ஐயோ!

Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

இதினிமித்தம் அக்கினிஜூவாலை வைக்கோலைப் பட்சிப்பதுபோலவும், செத்தையானது நெருப்புக்கு இரையாகி எரிந்துபோவதுபோலவும், அவர்கள் வேர் வாடி, அவர்கள் துளிர் தூசியைப்போல் பறந்துபோகும்; அவர்கள் சேனைகளின் கர்த்தருடைய வேதத்தை வெறுத்து, இஸ்ரவேலிலுள்ள பரிசுத்தருடைய வசனத்தை அசட்டைபண்ணினார்களே.

Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

ஆகையால் கர்த்தருடைய கோபம் தமது ஜனங்களுக்கு விரோதமாய் மூண்டது; அவர் தமது கையை அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாய் நீட்டி, பர்வதங்கள் அதிரத்தக்கதாயும், அவர்கள் பிணங்கள் நடுவீதிகளில் குப்பை போலாகத்தக்கதாயும், அவர்களை அடித்தார்; இவை எல்லாவற்றிலும் அவருடைய கோபம் ஆறாமல், இன்னும் அவருடைய கை நீட்டினபடியே இருக்கிறது.

Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

அவர் தூரத்திலுள்ள ஜாதியாருக்கு ஒரு கொடியை ஏற்றி, அவர்களைப் பூமியின் கடையாந்தரங்களிலிருந்து பயில்காட்டி அழைப்பார்; அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் தீவிரமும் வேகமுமாய் வருவார்கள்.

And he will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth: and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly:

அவர்களில் விடாய்த்தவனும் இடறுகிறவனும் இல்லை; தூங்குகிறவனும் உறங்குகிறவனும் இல்லை; அவர்களில் ஒருவனுடைய இடுப்பின் கச்சை அவிழ்வதும், பாதரட்சைகளின் வார் அறுந்துபோவதும் இல்லை.

None shall be weary nor stumble among them; none shall slumber nor sleep; neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed, nor the latchet of their shoes be broken:

அவர்கள் அம்புகள் கூர்மையும், அவர்கள் வில்லுகளெல்லாம் நாணேற்றினவைகளும், அவர்கள் குதிரைகளின் குளம்புகள் கற்பாறையாக எண்ணப்பட்டவைகளும், அவர்கள் உருளைகள் சுழல்காற்றுக்கு ஒத்தவைகளுமாயிருக்கும்.

Whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent, their horses' hoofs shall be counted like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind:

Their roaring shall be like a lion, they shall roar like young lions: yea, they shall roar, and lay hold of the prey, and shall carry it away safe, and none shall deliver it.

And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea: and if one look unto the land, behold darkness and sorrow, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof.

Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.

போர்ச்சேவகர் முள்ளுகளினால் ஒரு முடியைப் பின்னி அவர் சிரசின்மேல் வைத்து, சிவப்பான ஒரு அங்கியை அவருக்கு உடுத்தி:

And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,

யூதருடைய ராஜாவே, வாழ்க என்று சொல்லி, அவரைக் கையினால் அடித்தார்கள்.

And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.

பிலாத்து மறுபடியும் வெளியே வந்து: நான் இவனிடத்தில் ஒரு குற்றமும் காணேன் என்று நீங்கள் அறியும்படிக்கு, இதோ, உங்களிடத்தில் இவனை வெளியே கொண்டுவருகிறேன் என்றான்.

Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.

இயேசு, முள்முடியும் சிவப்பங்கியும் தரித்தவராய், வெளியே வந்தார். அப்பொழுது பிலாத்து அவர்களை நோக்கி: இதோ, இந்த மனுஷன் என்றான்.

Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!

பிரதான ஆசாரியரும் சேவகரும் அவரைக் கண்டபோது: சிலுவையில் அறையும், சிலுவையில் அறையும் என்று சத்தமிட்டார்கள். அதற்குப் பிலாத்து: நீங்களே இவனைக் கொண்டுபோய்ச் சிலுவையில் அறையுங்கள், நான் இவனிடத்தில் ஒரு குற்றமும் காணேன் என்றான்.

When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.

யூதர்கள் அவனுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: எங்களுக்கு ஒரு நியாயப்பிரமாணமுண்டு, இவன் தன்னை தேவனுடைய குமாரனென்று சொன்னபடியினால், அந்த நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின்படியே இவன் சாகவேண்டும் என்றார்கள்.

The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.

பிலாத்து இந்த வார்த்தையைக் கேட்டபொழுது அதிகமாய்ப் பயந்து,

When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;

மறுபடியும் அரமனைக்குள்ளே போய், இயேசுவை நோக்கி: நீ எங்கேயிருந்து வந்தவன் என்றான். அதற்கு இயேசு மாறுத்தரம் ஒன்றும் சொல்லவில்லை.

And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.

அப்பொழுது பிலாத்து: நீ என்னோடே பேசுகிறதில்லையா? உன்னைச் சிலுவையில் அறைய எனக்கு அதிகாரமுண்டென்றும், உன்னை விடுதலைபண்ண எனக்கு அதிகாரமுண்டென்றும் உனக்குத் தெரியாதா என்றான்.

Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?

இயேசு பிரதியுத்தரமாக: பரத்திலிருந்து உமக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படாதிருந்தால், என்மேல் உமக்கு ஒரு அதிகாரமுமிராது; ஆனபடியினாலே என்னை உம்மிடத்தில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தவனுக்கு அதிக பாவமுண்டு என்றார்.

Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

அதுமுதல் பிலாத்து அவரை விடுதலைபண்ண வகைதேடினான். யூதர்கள் அவனை நோக்கி: இவனை விடுதலைபண்ணினால் நீர் இராயனுக்குச் சிநேகிதனல்ல; தன்னை ராஜாவென்கிறவனெவனோ அவன் இராயனுக்கு விரோதி என்று சத்தமிட்டார்கள்.

And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar's friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar.

பிலாத்து இந்த வார்த்தையைக் கேட்டபொழுது, இயேசுவை வெளியே அழைத்துவந்து, தளவரிசைப்படுத்தின மேடையென்றும், எபிரெயு பாஷையிலே கபத்தா என்றும் சொல்லப்பட்ட இடத்திலே, நியாயாசனத்தின்மேல் உட்கார்ந்தான்.

When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.

அந்த நாள் பஸ்காவுக்கு ஆயத்த நாளும் ஏறக்குறைய ஆறுமணி நேரமுமாயிருந்தது; அப்பொழுது அவன் யூதர்களை நோக்கி: இதோ, உங்கள் ராஜா என்றான்.

And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!

அவர்கள்: இவனை அகற்றும், அகற்றும், சிலுவையில் அறையும் என்று சத்தமிட்டார்கள். அதற்குப் பிலாத்து: உங்கள் ராஜாவை நான் சிலுவையில் அறையலாமா என்றான். பிரதான ஆசாரியர் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: இராயனேயல்லாமல் எங்களுக்கு வேறே ராஜா இல்லை என்றார்கள்.

But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.

அப்பொழுது அவரைச் சிலுவையில் அறையும்படிக்கு அவர்களிடத்தில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தான். அவர்கள் இயேசுவைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டுபோனார்கள்.

Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.

அவர் தம்முடைய சிலுவையைச் சுமந்துகொண்டு, எபிரெயு பாஷையிலே கொல்கொதா என்று சொல்லப்படும் கபாலஸ்தலம் என்கிற இடத்திற்குப் புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்.

And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:

அங்கே அவரைச் சிலுவையில் அறைந்தார்கள்; அவரோடேகூட வேறிரண்டுபேரை இரண்டு பக்கங்களிலும் இயேசுவை நடுவிலுமாகச் சிலுவைகளில் அறைந்தார்கள்.

Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.

பிலாத்து ஒரு மேல்விலாசத்தை எழுதி, சிலுவையின்மேல் போடுவித்தான். அதில் நசரேயனாகிய இயேசு யூதருடைய ராஜா என்று எழுதியிருந்தது.

And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.

இயேசு சிலுவையில் அறையப்பட்ட இடம் நகரத்திற்குச் சமீபமாயிருந்தபடியினால், யூதரில் அநேகர் அந்த மேல்விலாசத்தை வாசித்தார்கள்; அது எபிரெயு கிரேக்கு லத்தீன் பாஷைகளில் எழுதியிருந்தது.

This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.

அப்பொழுது யூதருடைய பிரதான ஆசாரியர் பிலாத்துவை நோக்கி: யூதருடைய ராஜா என்று நீர் எழுதாமல், தான் யூதருடைய ராஜா என்று அவன் சொன்னதாக எழுதும் என்றார்கள்.

Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews.

பிலாத்து பிரதியுத்தரமாக: நான் எழுதினது எழுதினதே என்றான்.

Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.

போர்ச்சேவகர் இயேசுவைச் சிலுவையில் அறைந்தபின்பு, அவருடைய வஸ்திரங்களை எடுத்து, ஒவ்வொரு சேவகனுக்கு ஒவ்வொரு பங்காக நாலு பங்காக்கினார்கள்; அங்கியையும் எடுத்தார்கள், அந்த அங்கி, தையலில்லாமல் மேலே தொடங்கி முழுவதும் நெய்யப்பட்டதாயிருந்தது.

Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.

அவர்கள்: இதை நாம் கிழியாமல், யாருக்கு வருமோ என்று இதைக்குறித்துச் சீட்டுப்போடுவோம் என்று ஒருவரோடொருவர் பேசிக்கொண்டார்கள். என் வஸ்திரங்களைத் தங்களுக்குள்ளே பங்கிட்டு, என் உடையின்மேல் சீட்டுப்போட்டார்கள் என்கிற வேதவாக்கியம் நிறைவேறத்தக்கதாகப் போர்ச்சேவகர் இப்படிச் செய்தார்கள்.

They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.

இயேசுவின் சிலுவையினருகே அவருடைய தாயும், அவருடைய தாயின் சகோதரி கிலெயோப்பா மரியாளும், மகதலேனாமரியாளும் நின்று கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.

அப்பொழுது இயேசு தம்முடைய தாயையும் அருகே நின்ற தமக்கு அன்பாயிருந்த சீஷனையும் கண்டு, தம்முடைய தாயை நோக்கி: ஸ்திரீயே, அதோ, உன் மகன் என்றார்.

When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!

பின்பு அந்தச் சீஷனை நோக்கி: அதோ, உன் தாய் என்றார் அந்நேரமுதல் அந்தச் சீஷன் அவளைத் தன்னிடமாய் ஏற்றுக்கொண்டான்.

Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

அதன்பின்பு, எல்லாம் முடிந்தது என்று இயேசு அறிந்து, வேதவாக்கியம் நிறைவேறத்தக்கதாக: தாகமாயிருக்கிறேன் என்றார்.

After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

காடி நிறைந்த பாத்திரம் அங்கே வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது; அவர்கள் கடற்காளானைக் காடியிலே தோய்த்து, ஈசோப்புத்தண்டில் மாட்டி, அவர் வாயினிடத்தில் நீட்டிக்கொடுத்தார்கள்.

Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.

இயேசு காடியை வாங்கினபின்பு, முடிந்தது என்று சொல்லி, தலையைச் சாய்த்து, ஆவியை ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்.

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

அந்த நாள் பெரிய ஓய்வு நாளுக்கு ஆயத்தநாளாயிருந்தபடியினால், உடல்கள் அந்த ஓய்வுநாளிலே சிலுவைகளில் இராதபடிக்கு, யூதர்கள் பிலாத்துவினிடத்தில் போய், அவர்களுடைய காலெலும்புகளை முறிக்கும்படிக்கும், உடல்களை எடுத்துப்போடும்படிக்கும் உத்தரவு கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்கள்.

The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

அந்தப்படி போர்ச்சேவகர் வந்து, அவருடனேகூடச் சிலுவையில் அறையப்பட்ட முந்தினவனுடைய காலெலும்புகளையும் மற்றவனுடைய காலெலும்புகளையும் முறித்தார்கள்.

Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.

அவர்கள் இயேசுவினிடத்தில் வந்து, அவர் மரித்திருக்கிறதைக் கண்டு, அவருடைய காலெலும்புகளை முறிக்கவில்லை.

But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:

ஆகிலும் போர்ச்சேவகரில் ஒருவன் ஈட்டியினாலே அவருடைய விலாவில் குத்தினான்; உடனே இரத்தமும் தண்ணீரும் புறப்பட்டது.

But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

அதைக் கண்டவன் சாட்சிகொடுக்கிறான், அவனுடைய சாட்சி மெய்யாயிருக்கிறது; நீங்கள் விசுவாசிக்கும்படி, தான் சொல்லுகிறது மெய்யென்று அவன் அறிந்திருக்கிறான்.

And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.

அவருடைய எலும்புகளில் ஒன்றும் முறிக்கப்படுவதில்லை என்கிற வேதவாக்கியம் நிறைவேறும்படி இவைகள் நடந்தது.

For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.

அல்லாமலும் தாங்கள் குத்தினவரை நோக்கிப்பார்ப்பார்கள் என்று வேறொரு வேதவாக்கியம் சொல்லுகிறது.

And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

இவைகளுக்குப்பின்பு அரிமத்தியா ஊரானும், யூதருக்குப் பயந்ததினால் இயேசுவுக்கு அந்தரங்க சீஷனுமாகிய யோசேப்பு இயேசுவின் சரீரத்தை எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோகும்படி பிலாத்துவினிடத்தில் உத்தரவு கேட்டான்; பிலாத்து உத்தரவு கொடுத்தான். ஆகையால் அவன் வந்து, இயேசுவின் சரீரத்தை எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோனான்.

And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.

ஆரம்பத்திலே ஒரு இராத்திரியில் இயேசுவினிடத்தில் வந்திருந்த நிக்கொதேமு என்பவன் வெள்ளைப்போளமும் கரியபோளமும் கலந்து ஏறக்குறைய நூறு இராத்தல் கொண்டுவந்தான்.

And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.

அவர்கள் இயேசுவின் சரீரத்தை எடுத்து, யூதர்கள் அடக்கம்பண்ணும் முறைமையின்படியே அதைச் சுகந்தவர்க்கங்களுடனே சீலைகளில் சுற்றிக் கட்டினார்கள்.

Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.

அவர் சிலுவையில் அறையப்பட்ட இடத்தில் ஒரு தோட்டமும், அந்தத் தோட்டத்தில் ஒருக்காலும் ஒருவனும் வைக்கப்பட்டிராத ஒரு புதிய கல்லறையும் இருந்தது.

Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.

யூதருடைய ஆயத்தநாளானபடியினாலும், அந்தக் கல்லறை சமீபமாயிருந்தபடியினாலும், அவ்விடத்திலே இயேசுவை வைத்தார்கள்.

There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews' preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
