நீதிமொழிகள் அத்தியாயம் 1

தாவீதின் குமாரனும் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவுமாகிய சாலொமோனின் நீதிமொழிகள்:

The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;

இவைகளால் ஞானத்தையும் போதகத்தையும் அறிந்து, புத்திமதிகளை உணர்ந்து,

To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;

விவேகம், நீதி, நியாயம், நிதானம் என்பவைகளைப்பற்றிய உபதேசத்தை அடையலாம்.

To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;

இவைகள் பேதைகளுக்கு வினாவையும், வாலிபருக்கு அறிவையும் விவேகத்தையும் கொடுக்கும்.

To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.

புத்திமான் இவைகளைக் கேட்டு, அறிவில் தேறுவான்; விவேகி நல்லாலோசனைகளை அடைந்து;

A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

நீதிமொழியையும், அதின் அர்த்தத்தையும், ஞானிகளின் வாக்கியங்களையும், அவர்கள் உரைத்த புதைபொருள்களையும் அறிந்துகொள்வான்.

To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுதலே ஞானத்தின் ஆரம்பம்; மூடர் ஞானத்தையும் போதகத்தையும் அசட்டை பண்ணுகிறார்கள்.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

என் மகனே, உன் தகப்பன் புத்தியைக் கேள், உன் தாயின் போதகத்தைத் தள்ளாதே.

My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

அவைகள் உன் சிரசுக்கு அலங்காரமான முடியும், உன் கழுத்துக்குச் சரப்பணியுமாயிருக்கும்.

For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

என் மகனே, பாவிகள் உனக்கு நயங்காட்டினாலும் நீ சம்மதியாதே.

My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

எங்களோடே வா, இரத்தஞ்சிந்தும்படி நாம் பதிவிருந்து, குற்றமற்றிருக்கிறவர்களை முகாந்தரமின்றிப் பிடிக்கும்படி ஒளித்திருப்போம்;

If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:

பாதாளம் விழுங்குவதுபோல் நாம் அவர்களை உயிரோடே விழுங்குவோம்; குழியில் இறங்குகிறவர்கள் விழுங்கப்படுவதுபோல் அவர்களை முழுமையும் விழுங்குவோம்;

Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:

விலையுயர்ந்த சகலவிதப் பொருள்களையும் கண்டடைவோம்; கொள்ளைப்பொருளினால் நம்முடைய வீடுகளை நிரப்புவோம்.

We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:

எங்களோடே பங்காளியாயிரு; நம்மெல்லாருக்கும் ஒரே பை இருக்கும் என்று அவர்கள் சொல்வார்களாகில்;

Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:

என் மகனே, நீ அவர்களோடே வழிநடவாமல், உன் காலை அவர்கள் பாதைக்கு விலக்குவாயாக.

My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:

அவர்கள் கால்கள் தீங்குசெய்ய ஓடி, இரத்தஞ்சிந்தத் தீவிரிக்கிறது.

For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.

எவ்வகையான பட்சியானாலும் சரி, அதின் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக வலையை விரிப்பது விருதா.

Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.

இவர்களோ தங்கள் இரத்தத்திற்கே பதிவிருக்கிறார்கள், தங்கள் பிராணனுக்கே ஒளிவைத்திருக்கிறார்கள்.

And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.

பொருளாசையுள்ள எல்லாருடைய வழியும் இதுவே; இது தன்னையுடையவர்களின் உயிரை வாங்கும்.

So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.

ஞானமானது வெளியே நின்று கூப்பிடுகிறது, வீதிகளில் சத்தமிடுகிறது.

Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:

அது சந்தடியுள்ள தெருக்களின் சந்திலும், ஒலிமுகவாசலிலும் நின்று கூப்பிட்டு, பட்டணத்தில் தன் வார்த்தைகளை வசனித்துச் சொல்லுகிறது:

She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,

பேதைகளே, நீங்கள் பேதைமையை விரும்புவதும், நிந்தனைக்காரரே, நீங்கள் நிந்தனையில் பிரியப்படுவதும், மதியீனரே, நீங்கள் ஞானத்தை வெறுப்பதும், எதுவரைக்கும் இருக்கும்.

How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

என் கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலுக்குத் திரும்புங்கள்; இதோ, என் ஆவியை உங்களுக்கு அருளுவேன், என் வார்த்தைகளை உங்களுக்குத் தெரிவிப்பேன்.

Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

நான் கூப்பிட்டும், நீங்கள் கேட்கமாட்டோம் என்கிறீர்கள்; நான் என் கையை நீட்டியும் கவனிக்கிறவன் ஒருவனும் இல்லை.

Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

என் ஆலோசனையையெல்லாம் நீங்கள் தள்ளி, என் கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலை வெறுத்தீர்கள்.

But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

ஆகையால், நானும் உங்கள் ஆபத்துக்காலத்தில் நகைத்து, நீங்கள் பயப்படுங்காரியம் வரும்போது ஆகடியம்பண்ணுவேன்.

I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

நீங்கள் பயப்படுங்காரியம் புசல்போல் வரும்போதும், ஆபத்து சூறாவளிபோல் உங்களுக்கு நேரிடும்போதும், நெருக்கமும் இடுக்கணும் உங்கள்மேல் வரும்போதும், ஆகடியம்பண்ணுவேன்.

When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் என்னை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிடுவார்கள்; நான் மறுஉத்தரவு கொடுக்கமாட்டேன்; அவர்கள் அதிகாலையிலே என்னைத் தேடுவார்கள், என்னைக் காணமாட்டார்கள்.

Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

அவர்கள் அறிவை வெறுத்தார்கள், கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுதலைத் தெரிந்துகொள்ளாமற்போனார்கள்.

For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

என் ஆலோசனையை அவர்கள் விரும்பவில்லை; என் கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலையெல்லாம் அசட்டை பண்ணினார்கள்.

They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

ஆகையால் அவர்கள் தங்கள் வழியின் பலனைப் புசிப்பார்கள்; தங்கள் யோசனைகளினால் திருப்தியடைவார்கள்.

Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

பேதைகளின் மாறுபாடு அவர்களைக் கொல்லும், மூடரின் நிர்விசாரம் அவர்களை அழிக்கும்;

For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

எனக்குச் செவிகொடுக்கிறவன் எவனோ, அவன் விக்கினமின்றி வாசம்பண்ணி, ஆபத்திற்குப் பயப்படாமல் அமைதியாயிருப்பான்.

But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

நீதிமொழிகள் அத்தியாயம் 2

என் மகனே, நீ உன் செவியை ஞானத்திற்குச் சாய்த்து, உன் இருதயத்தைப் புத்திக்கு அமையப்பண்ணும்பொருட்டு,

My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

நீ என் வார்த்தைகளை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டு, என் கட்டளைகளை உன்னிடத்தில் பத்திரப்படுத்தி,

So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

ஞானத்தை வா என்று கூப்பிட்டு, புத்தியைச் சத்தமிட்டு அழைத்து,

Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

அதை வெள்ளியைப்போல் நாடி, புதையல்களைத் தேடுகிறதுபோல் தேடுவாயாகில்,

If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுதல் இன்னதென்று நீ உணர்ந்து, தேவனை அறியும் அறிவைக் கண்டடைவாய்.

Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

கர்த்தர் ஞானத்தைத் தருகிறார்; அவர் வாயினின்று அறிவும் புத்தியும் வரும்.

For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

அவர் நீதிமான்களுக்கென்று மெய்ஞ்ஞானத்தை வைத்துவைத்திருக்கிறார்; உத்தமமாய் நடக்கிறவர்களுக்கு அவர் கேடகமாயிருக்கிறார்.

He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

அவர் நியாயத்தின் நெறிகளைத் தற்காத்து, தம்முடைய பரிசுத்தவான்களின் பாதையைக் காப்பாற்றுகிறார்.

He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

அப்பொழுது நீதியையும், நியாயத்தையும், நிதானத்தையும், சகல நல்வழிகளையும் அறிந்துகொள்ளுவாய்.

Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

ஞானம் உன் இருதயத்தில் பிரவேசித்து, அறிவு உன் ஆத்துமாவுக்கு இன்பமாயிருக்கும்போது,

When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

நல்யோசனை உன்னைக் காப்பாற்றும், புத்தி உன்னைப் பாதுகாக்கும்.

Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

அதினால் நீ துன்மார்க்கருடைய வழிக்கும், மாறுபாடு பேசுகிற மனுஷனுக்கும்,

To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

அந்தகார வழிகளில் நடக்க நீதிநெறிகளைவிட்டு,

Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

தீமைசெய்ய மகிழ்ந்து, துன்மார்க்கருடைய மாறுபாடுகளில் களிகூருகிறவர்களுக்கும்,

Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;

மாறுபாடான பாதைகளிலும் கோணலான வழிகளிலும் நடக்கிறவர்களுக்கும் நீ தப்புவிக்கப்படுவாய்.

Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:

தன் இளவயதின் நாயகனை விட்டு, தன் தேவனுடைய உடன்படிக்கையை மறந்து,

To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;

இச்சகமான வார்த்தைகளைப் பேசும் அந்நிய பெண்ணாகிய பரஸ்திரீக்கும் தப்புவிக்கப்படுவாய்.

Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.

அவளுடைய வீடு மரணத்துக்கும், அவளுடைய பாதைகள் மரித்தோரிடத்திற்கும் சாய்கிறது.

For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.

அவளிடத்தில் போகிறவர்களில் ஒருவரும் திரும்புகிறதில்லை, ஜீவபாதைகளில் வந்து சேருகிறதுமில்லை.

None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

ஆதலால் நீ நல்லவர்களின் வழியிலே நடந்து, நீதிமான்களின் பாதைகளைக் காத்துக்கொள்வாயாக.

That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

செவ்வையானவர்கள் பூமியிலே வாசம்பண்ணுவார்கள்; உத்தமர்கள் அதிலே தங்கியிருப்பார்கள்.

For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

துன்மார்க்கரோ பூமியிலிருந்து அறுப்புண்டுபோவார்கள்; துரோகிகள் அதில் இராதபடிக்கு நிர்மூலமாவார்கள்.

But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

நீதிமொழிகள் அத்தியாயம் 3

என் மகனே, என் போதகத்தை மறவாதே; உன் இருதயம் என் கட்டளைகளைக் காக்கக்கடவது.

My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

அவைகள் உனக்கு நீடித்த நாட்களையும், தீர்க்காயுசையும், சமாதானத்தையும் பெருகப்பண்ணும்.

For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

கிருபையும் சத்தியமும் உன்னைவிட்டு விலகாதிருப்பதாக; நீ அவைகளை உன் கழுத்திலே பூண்டு, அவைகளை உன் இருதயமாகிய பலகையில் எழுதிக்கொள்.

Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:

அதினால் தேவனுடைய பார்வையிலும் மனுஷருடைய பார்வையிலும் தயையும் நற்புத்தியும் பெறுவாய்.

So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

உன் சுயபுத்தியின்மேல் சாயாமல், உன் முழு இருதயத்தோடும் கர்த்தரில் நம்பிக்கையாயிருந்து,

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

உன் வழிகளிலெல்லாம் அவரை நினைத்துக்கொள்; அப்பொழுது அவர் உன் பாதைகளைச் செவ்வைப்படுத்துவார்.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

நீ உன்னை ஞானியென்று எண்ணாதே; கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்து, தீமையை விட்டு விலகு.

Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

அது உன் நாபிக்கு ஆரோக்கியமும், உன் எலும்புகளுக்கு ஊனுமாகும்.

It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

உன் பொருளாலும், உன் எல்லா விளைவின் முதற்பலனாலும் கர்த்தரைக் கனம்பண்ணு.

Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

அப்பொழுது உன் களஞ்சியங்கள் பூரணமாய் நிரம்பும்; உன் ஆலைகளில் திராட்சரசம் புரண்டோடும்.

So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

என் மகனே, நீ கர்த்தருடைய சிட்சையை அற்பமாக எண்ணாதே, அவர் கடிந்துகொள்ளும்போது சோர்ந்துபோகாதே.

My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:

தகப்பன் தான் நேசிக்கிற புத்திரனைச் சிட்சிக்கிறதுபோல, கர்த்தரும் எவனிடத்தில் அன்புகூருகிறாரோ அவனைச் சிட்சிக்கிறார்.

For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

ஞானத்தைக் கண்டடைகிற மனுஷனும், புத்தியைச் சம்பாதிக்கிற மனுஷனும் பாக்கியவான்கள்.

Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

அதின் வர்த்தகம் வெள்ளி வர்த்தகத்திலும், அதின் ஆதாயம் பசும்பொன்னிலும் உத்தமமானது.

For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.

முத்துக்களைப்பார்க்கிலும் அது விலையேறப்பெற்றது; நீ இச்சிக்கத்தக்கதொன்றும் அதற்கு நிகரல்ல.

She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

அதின் வலதுகையில் தீர்க்காயுசும், அதின் இடதுகையில் செல்வமும் கனமும் இருக்கிறது.

Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.

அதின் வழிகள் இனிதான வழிகள், அதின் பாதைகளெல்லாம் சமாதானம்.

Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

அது தன்னை அடைந்தவர்களுக்கு ஜீவவிருட்சம், அதைப் பற்றிக்கொள்ளுகிற எவனும் பாக்கியவான்.

She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

கர்த்தர் ஞானத்தினாலே பூமியை அஸ்திபாரப்படுத்தி, புத்தியினாலே வானங்களை ஸ்தாபித்தார்.

The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.

அவருடைய ஞானத்தினாலே ஆழங்கள் பிரிந்தது, ஆகாயமும் பனியைப் பெய்கிறது.

By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

என் மகனே, இவைகள் உன் கண்களை விட்டுப் பிரியாதிருப்பதாக; மெய்ஞ்ஞானத்தையும் நல்லாலோசனையையும் காத்துக்கொள்.

My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:

அவைகள் உன் ஆத்துமாவுக்கு ஜீவனும், உன் கழுத்துக்கு அலங்காரமுமாயிருக்கும்.

So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.

அப்பொழுது நீ பயமின்றி உன் வழியில் நடப்பாய், உன் கால் இடறாது.

Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.

நீ படுக்கும்போது பயப்படாதிருப்பாய்; நீ படுத்துக்கொள்ளும்போது உன் நித்திரை இன்பமாயிருக்கும்.

When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

சடிதியான திகிலும், துஷ்டர்களின் பாழ்க்கடிப்பும் வரும்போது நீ அஞ்சவேண்டாம்.

Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.

கர்த்தர் உன் நம்பிக்கையாயிருந்து, உன் கால் சிக்கிக்கொள்ளாதபடி காப்பார்.

For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

நன்மைசெய்யும்படி உனக்குத் திராணியிருக்கும்போது, அதை செய்யத்தக்கவர்களுக்குச் செய்யாமல் இராதே.

Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

உன்னிடத்தில் பொருள் இருக்கையில் உன் அயலானை நோக்கி: நீ போய்த் திரும்பவா, நாளைக்குத் தருவேன் என்று சொல்லாதே.

Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.

அச்சமின்றி உன்னிடத்தில் வாசம்பண்ணுகிற உன் அயலானுக்கு விரோதமாகத் தீங்கு நினையாதே.

Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.

ஒருவன் உனக்குத் தீங்குசெய்யாதிருக்க, காரணமின்றி அவனோடே வழக்காடாதே.

Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.

கொடுமையுள்ளவன்மேல் பொறாமை கொள்ளாதே; அவனுடைய வழிகளில் ஒன்றையும் தெரிந்துகொள்ளாதே.

Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.

மாறுபாடுள்ளவன் கர்த்தருக்கு அருவருப்பானவன்; நீதிமான்களோடே அவருடைய இரகசியம் இருக்கிறது.

For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.

துன்மார்க்கனுடைய வீட்டில் கர்த்தரின் சாபம் இருக்கிறது, நீதிமான்களுடைய வாசஸ்தலத்தையோ அவர் ஆசீர்வதிக்கிறார்.

The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.

இகழ்வோரை அவர் இகழுகிறார்; தாழ்மையுள்ளவர்களுக்கோ கிருபையளிக்கிறார்.

Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

ஞானவான்கள் கனத்தைச் சுதந்தரிப்பார்கள்; மதிகேடரோ கனவீனத்தை அடைவார்கள்.

The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.

லூக்கா அத்தியாயம் 24

வாரத்தின் முதலாம்நாள் அதிகாலையிலே தாங்கள் ஆயத்தம்பண்ணின கந்தவர்க்கங்களை அவர்கள் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு வேறு சில ஸ்திரீகளோடுங்கூடக் கல்லறையினிடத்தில் வந்தார்கள்.

Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.

கல்லறையை அடைத்திருந்த கல்புரட்டித் தள்ளப்பட்டிருக்கிறதைக் கண்டு,

And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.

உள்ளே பிரவேசித்து, கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுவின் சரீரத்தைக் காணாமல்,

And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

அதைக்குறித்து மிகுந்த கலக்கமடைந்திருக்கையில், பிரகாசமுள்ள வஸ்திரந்தரித்த இரண்டுபேர் அவர்கள் அருகே நின்றார்கள்.

And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:

அந்த ஸ்திரீகள் பயப்பட்டு தலைகவிழ்ந்து தரையை நோக்கி நிற்கையில், அந்த இரண்டுபேரும் அவர்களை நோக்கி: உயிரோடிருக்கிறவரை நீங்கள் மரித்தோரிடத்தில் தேடுகிறதென்ன?

And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?

அவர் இங்கே இல்லை, அவர் உயிர்த்தெழுந்தார்.

He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,

மனுஷகுமாரன் பாவிகளான மனுஷர் கைகளில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்படவும், சிலுவையில் அறையப்படவும், மூன்றாம் நாளில் எழுந்திருக்கவும் வேண்டுமென்பதாக அவர் கலிலேயாவிலிருந்த காலத்தில் உங்களுக்குச் சொன்னதை நினைவுகூருங்கள் என்றார்கள்.

Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் அவருடைய வார்த்தைகளை நினைவுகூர்ந்து,

And they remembered his words,

கல்லறையை விட்டுத் திரும்பிப்போய், இந்தச் சங்கதிகளெல்லாவற்றையும் பதினொருவருக்கும் மற்றெல்லாருக்கும் அறிவித்தார்கள்.

And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.

இவைகளை அப்போஸ்தலருக்குச் சொன்னவர்கள் மகதலேனா மரியாளும், யோவன்னாளும், யாக்கோபின் தாயாகிய மரியாளும், இவர்களுடனேகூட இருந்த மற்ற ஸ்திரீகளுமே.

It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles.

இவர்களுடைய வார்த்தைகள் அவர்களுக்கு வீண்பேச்சாகத் தோன்றினதினால், அவர்கள் இவர்களை நம்பவில்லை.

And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.

பேதுருவோ எழுந்திருந்து, கல்லறையினிடத்திற்கு ஓடி, அதற்குள்ளே குனிந்துபார்க்கையில், சீலைகளைத் தனிப்பட வைத்திருக்கக்கண்டு, சம்பவித்ததைக் குறித்துத் தன்னில் ஆச்சரியப்பட்டுக்கொண்டுபோனான்.

Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.

அன்றையத்தினமே அவர்களில் இரண்டுபேர் எருசலேமுக்கு ஏழு அல்லது எட்டுமைல் தூரமான எம்மாவு என்னும் கிராமத்துக்குப் போனார்கள்.

And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.

போகையில் இந்த வர்த்தமானங்கள் யாவையுங்குறித்து அவர்கள் ஒருவரோடொருவர் பேசிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

And they talked together of all these things which had happened.

இப்படி அவர்கள் பேசி, சம்பாஷித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கையில், இயேசு தாமே சேர்ந்து அவர்களுடனேகூட நடந்து போனார்.

And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.

ஆனாலும் அவரை அறியாதபடிக்கு அவர்களுடைய கண்கள் மறைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது.

But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.

அப்பொழுது அவர் அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் துக்கமுகமுள்ளவர்களாய் வழிநடந்து, ஒருவருக்கொருவர் சொல்லிக்கொள்ளுகிற காரியங்கள் என்னவென்று கேட்டார்.

And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?

அவர்களில் ஒருவனாகிய கிலெயோப்பா என்பவன் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: இந்நாட்களில் எருசலேமிலே நடந்தவைகளை அறியாதபடிக்கு நீர் அந்நியராயிருக்கிறீரோ என்றான்.

And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?

அவர்: எவைகள் என்றார். அதற்கு அவர்கள்: நசரேயனாகிய இயேசுவைக் குறித்தவைகளே; அவர் தேவனுக்கு முன்பாகவும் ஜனங்களெல்லாருக்கு முன்பாகவும் செய்கையிலும் வாக்கிலும் வல்லமையுள்ள தீர்க்கதரிசியாயிருந்தார்.

And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people:

நம்முடைய பிரதான ஆசாரியரும் அதிகாரிகளும் அவரை மரணஆக்கினைக்குட்படுத்தி, சிலுவையில் அறைந்தார்கள.

And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.

அவரே இஸ்ரவேலைமீட்டு இரட்சிப்பவர் என்று நாங்கள் நம்பியிருந்தோம். இவைகள் சம்பவித்து இன்று மூன்று நாளாகிறது.

But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.

ஆனாலும் எங்கள் கூட்டத்தைச் சேர்ந்த சில ஸ்திரீகள் அதிகாலமே கல்லறையினிடத்திற்குப்போய்,

Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre;

அவருடைய சரீரத்தைக் காணாமல், திரும்பிவந்து, அவர் உயிரோடிருக்கிறார் என்று சொன்ன தேவதூதரைத் தரிசித்தோம் என்று சொல்லி, எங்களைப் பிரமிக்கப்பண்ணினார்கள்.

And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive.

அப்பொழுது எங்களிலே சிலர் கல்லறையினிடத்திற்குப் போய், ஸ்திரீகள் சொன்னபடியே கண்டார்கள்; அவரையோ காணவில்லை என்றார்கள்.

And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not.

அப்பொழுது அவர் அவர்களை நோக்கி: தீர்க்கதரிசிகள் சொன்ன யாவையும் விசுவாசிக்கிறதற்குப் புத்தியில்லாத மந்த இருதயமுள்ளவர்களே,

Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:

கிறிஸ்து இவ்விதமாகப் பாடுபடவும், தமது மகிமையில் பிரவேசிக்கவும் வேண்டியதில்லையா என்று சொல்லி,

Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?

மோசே முதலிய சகல தீர்க்கதரிசிகளும் எழுதின வேதவாக்கியங்களெல்லாவற்றிலும் தம்மைக்குறித்துச் சொல்லியவைகளை அவர்களுக்கு விவரித்துக் காண்பித்தார்.

And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

அத்தருணத்தில் தாங்கள் போகிற கிராமத்துக்குச் சமீபமானார்கள். அப்பொழுது அவர் அப்புறம் போகிறவர்போலக் காண்பித்தார்.

And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.

அவர்கள் அவரை நோக்கி: நீர் எங்களுடனே தங்கியிரும், சாயங்காலமாயிற்று, பொழுதும் போயிற்று, என்று அவரை வருந்திக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்கள். அப்பொழுது அவர் அவர்களுடனே தங்கும்படி உள்ளே போனார்.

But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.

அவர்களோடே அவர் பந்தியிருக்கையில், அவர் அப்பத்தை எடுத்து, ஆசீர்வதித்து, அதைப்பிட்டு, அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்தார்.

And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.

அப்பொழுது அவர்களுடைய கண்கள் திறக்கப்பட்டு, அவரை அறிந்தார்கள். உடனே அவர் அவர்களுக்கு மறைந்துபோனார்.

And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.

அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் ஒருவரையொருவர் நோக்கி: வழியிலே அவர் நம்முடனே பேசி, வேதவாக்கியங்களை நமக்கு விளங்கக்காட்டினபொழுது, நம்முடைய இருதயம் நமக்குள்ளே கொழுந்துவிட்டு எரியவில்லையா என்று சொல்லிக்கொண்டு,

And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

அந்நேரமே எழுந்திருந்து, எருசலேமுக்குத் திரும்பிப்போய், பதினொருவரும் அவர்களோடிருந்தவர்களும் கூடியிருக்கக்கண்டு:

And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,

கர்த்தர் மெய்யாகவே உயிர்த்தெழுந்து சீமோனுக்குத் தரிசனமானார் என்று அவர்கள் சொல்லக்கேட்டு,

Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.

வழியில் நடந்தவைகளையும், அவர் அப்பத்தைப் பிட்கையில் தாங்கள் அவரை அறிந்துகொண்டதையும் விவரித்துச் சொன்னார்கள்.

And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread.

இவைகளைக்குறித்து அவர்கள் பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கையில், இயேசு தாமே அவர்கள் நடுவிலே நின்று: உங்களுக்குச் சமாதானம் என்றார்.

And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

அவர்கள் கலங்கி, பயந்து, ஒரு ஆவியைக் காண்கிறதாக நினைத்தார்கள்.

But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.

அவர் அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் ஏன் கலங்குகிறீர்கள்; உங்கள் இருதயங்களில் சந்தேகங்கள் எழும்புகிறதென்ன?

And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?

நான்தான் என்று அறியும்படி, என் கைகளையும் என் கால்களையும் பாருங்கள், என்னைத் தொட்டுப்பாருங்கள்; நீங்கள் காண்கிறபடி, எனக்கு மாம்சமும், எலும்புகளும் உண்டாயிருக்கிறதுபோல ஒரு ஆவிக்கு இராதே என்று சொல்லி,

Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

தம்முடைய கைகளையும் கால்களையும் அவர்களுக்குக் காண்பித்தார்.

And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.

ஆனாலும் சந்தோஷத்தினால் அவர்கள் இன்னும் விசுவாசியாமல் ஆச்சரியப்படுகையில்: புசிக்கிறதற்கு ஏதாகிலும் இங்கே உண்டா என்று அவர்களிடத்தில் கேட்டார்.

And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?

அப்பொழுது பொரித்த மீன் கண்டத்தையும் தேன்கூட்டுத் துணிக்கையையும் அவருக்குக் கொடுத்தார்கள்.

And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.

அவைகளை அவர் வாங்கி அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாகப் புசித்து,

And he took it, and did eat before them.

அவர்களை நோக்கி: மோசேயின் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்திலும் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் ஆகமங்களிலும் சங்கீதங்களிலும் என்னைக்குறித்து எழுதியிருக்கிறவைகளெல்லாம் நிறைவேறவேண்டியதென்று, நான் உங்களோடிருந்தபோது உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லிக்கொண்டுவந்த விசேஷங்கள் இவைகளே என்றார்.

And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

அப்பொழுது வேதவாக்கியங்களை அறிந்துகொள்ளும்படி அவர்களுடைய மனதை அவர் திறந்து அவர்களை நோக்கி:

Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

எழுதியிருக்கிறபடி, கிறிஸ்து பாடுபடவும், மூன்றாம்நாளில் மரித்தோரிலிருந்தெழுந்திருக்கவும் வேண்டியதாயிருந்தது;

And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

அன்றியும் மனந்திரும்புதலும் பாவமன்னிப்பும் எருசலேம் தொடங்கிச் சகல தேசத்தாருக்கும் அவருடைய நாமத்தினாலே பிரசங்கிக்கப்படவும் வேண்டியது.

And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

நீங்கள் இவைகளுக்குச் சாட்சிகளாயிருக்கிறீர்கள்.

And ye are witnesses of these things.

என் பிதா வாக்குத்தத்தம்பண்ணினதை, இதோ, நான் உங்களுக்கு அனுப்புகிறேன். நீங்களோ உன்னதத்திலிருந்து வரும் பெலனால் தரிப்பிக்கப்படும்வரைக்கும் எருசலேம் நகரத்தில் இருங்கள் என்றார்.

And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

பின்பு அவர் பெத்தானியாவரைக்கும் அவர்களை அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், தம்முடைய கைகளை உயர்த்தி. அவர்களை ஆசீர்வதித்தார்.

And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.

அவர்களை ஆசிர்வதிக்கையில், அவர்களை விட்டுப் பிரிந்து, பரலோகத்துக்கு எடுத்துக்கொள்ளப்பட்டார்.

And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.

அவர்கள் அவரைப் பணிந்துகொண்டு, மிகுந்த சந்தோஷத்தோடே எருசலேமுக்குத் திரும்பிவந்து,

And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:

நாடோறும் தேவாலயத்திலே தேவனைப் புகழ்ந்து துதித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். ஆமென்.

And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.
