சங்கீதம் அத்தியாயம் 15

கர்த்தாவே, யார் உம்முடைய கூடாரத்தில் தங்குவான்? யார் உம்முடைய பரிசுத்த பர்வதத்தில் வாசம் பண்ணுவான்?

LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?

உத்தமனாய் நடந்து, நீதியை நடப்பித்து, மனதாரச் சத்தியத்தைப் பேசுகிறவன்தானே.

He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.

அவன் தன் நாவினால் புறங்கூறாமலும், தன் தோழனுக்குத் தீங்குசெய்யாமலும், தன் அயலான்மேல் சொல்லப்படும் நிந்தையான பேச்சை எடுக்காமலும் இருக்கிறான்.

He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.

ஆகாதவன் அவன் பார்வைக்குத் அற்பமானவன்; கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்தவர்களையோ கனம் பண்ணுகிறான்; ஆணையிட்டதில் தனக்கு நஷ்டம் வந்தாலும் தவறாதிருக்கிறான்.

In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.

தன் பணத்தை வட்டிக்குக் கொடாமலும், குற்றமில்லாதவனுக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் இலஞ்சம் வாங்காமலும் இருக்கிறான். இப்படிச் செய்கிறவன் என்றென்றைக்கும் அசைக்கப்படுவதில்லை.

He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.

சங்கீதம் அத்தியாயம் 16

தேவனே, என்னைக் காப்பாற்றும், உம்மை நம்பியிருக்கிறேன்.

Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.

என் நெஞ்சமே, நீ கர்த்தரை நோக்கி: தேவரீர், என் ஆண்டவராயிருக்கிறீர், என் செல்வம் உமக்கு வேண்டியதாயிராமல்;

O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee;

பூமியிலுள்ள பரிசுத்தவான்களுக்கும், நான் என் முழுப் பிரியத்தையும் வைத்திருக்கிற மகாத்துமாக்களுக்கும், அது வேண்டியதாயிருக்கிறது என்று சொன்னாய்.

But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.

அந்நியதேவனை நாடிப் பின்பற்றுகிறவர்களுக்கு வேதனைகள் பெருகும்; அவர்கள் செலுத்துகிற இரத்த பானபலிகளை நான் செலுத்தமாட்டேன், அவர்கள் நாமங்களை என் உதடுகளினால் உச்சரிக்கவுமாட்டேன்.

Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.

கர்த்தர் என் சுதந்தரமும் என் பாத்திரத்தின் பங்குமானவர்; என் சுதந்தரத்தை தேவரீர் காப்பாற்றுகிறீர்.

The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.

நேர்த்தியான இடங்களில் எனக்குப் பங்கு கிடைத்தது; ஆம், சிறப்பான சுதந்தரம் எனக்கு உண்டு.

The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.

எனக்கு ஆலோசனை தந்த கர்த்தரைத் துதிப்பேன்; இராக்காலங்களிலும் என் உள்ளிந்திரியங்கள் என்னை உணர்த்தும்.

I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.

கர்த்தரை எப்பொழுதும் எனக்கு முன்பாக வைத்திருக்கிறேன்; அவர் என் வலதுபாரிசத்தில் இருக்கிறபடியால் நான் அசைக்கப்படுவதில்லை.

I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

ஆகையால் என் இருதயம் பூரித்தது, என் மகிமை களிகூர்ந்தது; என் மாம்சமும் நம்பிக்கையோடே தங்கியிருக்கும்.

Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

என் ஆத்துமாவைப் பாதாளத்தில் விடீர்; உம்முடைய பரிசுத்தவானை அழிவைக் காணவொட்டீர்.

For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

ஜீவமார்க்கத்தை எனக்குத் தெரியப்படுத்துவீர்; உம்முடைய சமுகத்தில் பரிபூரண ஆனந்தமும், உம்முடைய வலதுபாரிசத்தில் நித்திய பேரின்பமும் உண்டு.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

சங்கீதம் அத்தியாயம் 17

கர்த்தாவே, நியாயத்தைக் கேட்டருளும், என் கூப்பிடுதலைக் கவனியும்; கபடமில்லாத உதடுகளினின்று பிறக்கும் என் விண்ணப்பத்திற்குச் செவிகொடும்.

Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.

உம்முடைய சந்நிதியிலிருந்து என் நியாயம் வெளிப்படுவதாக; உம்முடைய கண்கள் நியாயமானவைகளை நோக்குவனவாக.

Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.

நீர் என் இருதயத்தைப் பரிசோதித்து, இராக்காலத்தில் அதை விசாரித்து, என்னைப் புடமிட்டுப்பார்த்தும் ஒன்றும் காணாதிருக்கிறீர்; என் வாய் மீறாதபடிக்குத் தீர்மானம் பண்ணியிருக்கிறேன்.

Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

மனுஷரின் செய்கைகளைக்குறித்து, நான் உம்முடைய உதடுகளின் வாக்கினாலே துஷ்டனுடைய பாதைகளுக்கு விலக்கமாய் என்னைக் காத்துக்கொள்ளுகிறேன்.

Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.

என் நடைகள் உமது வழிகளில் உறுதிப்பட்டன. என் காலடிகள் வழுவிப்போகவிலலை.

Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.

தேவனே, நான் உம்மை நோக்கிக் கெஞ்சுகிறேன், ஏனெனில் நீர் எனக்குப் பதிலருளுவீர். என்னிடத்தில் உம்முடைய செவியைச் சாய்த்து, என் வார்த்தையைக் கேட்டருளும்.

I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.

உம்மிடம் அடைக்கலம் புகுவோரை அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாய் எழும்புகிறவர்களினின்று உமது வலதுகரத்தினால் தப்புவித்து இரட்சிக்கிறவரே! உம்முடைய அதிசயமான கிருபையை விளங்கப்பண்ணும்.

Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.

கண்மணியைப்போல என்னைக் காத்து.

Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

என்னை ஒடுக்குகிற துன்மார்க்கருக்கும், என்னைச் சூழ்ந்துகொள்ளுகிற என் பிராணின் பகைஞருக்கும் மறைவாக, உம்முடைய செட்டைகளின் நிழலிலே என்னைக் காப்பாற்றும்.

From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

அவர்கள் கொழுத்துப்போய், தங்கள் வாயினால் இருமாப்பாய் பேசுகிறார்கள்.

They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.

நாங்கள் செல்லும் பாதைகளில் இப்பொழுது எங்களை வளைந்துகொண்டார்கள்; எங்களைத் தரையிலே தள்ளும்படி அவர்கள் கண்கள் எங்களை நோக்கிக்கொண்டிருக்கின்றன.

They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;

பீறுகிறதற்கு ஆவலுள்ள சிங்கத்துக்கும், மறைவிடங்களில் பதிவிருக்கிற பால சிங்கத்துக்கும் ஒப்பாயிருக்கிறார்கள்.

Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

கர்த்தாவே, உம்முடைய பட்டயத்தினால் என் ஆத்துமாவைத் துன்மார்க்கனுடைய கைக்கு தப்புவியும்.

Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:

கர்த்தாவே, மனுஷருடைய கைக்கும், இம்மையில் தங்கள் பங்கைப் பெற்றிருக்கிற இவ்வுலக மக்களின் கைக்கும் உம்முடைய கரத்தினால் என்னைத் தப்புவியும்; அவர்கள் வயிற்றை உமது திரவியத்தினால் நிரப்புகிறீர்; அவர்கள் புத்திரபாக்கியத்தினால் திருப்தியடைந்து, தங்களுக்கு மீதியான பொருளைத் தங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்கு விட்டுச்செல்கிறார்கள்.

From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.

நானோ நீதியில் உம்முடைய முகத்தைத் தரிசிப்பேன்; நான் விழிக்கும்போது உமது சாயலால் திருப்தியாவேன்.

As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

சங்கீதம் அத்தியாயம் 18

என் பெலனாகிய கர்த்தாவே, உம்மில் அன்புகூருவேன்.

I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.

கர்த்தர் என் கன்மலையும், என் கோட்டையும், என் இரட்சகரும், என் தேவனும், நான் அடைக்கலம் புகும் என் துருகமும், என் கேடகமும், என் இரட்சணியக் கொம்பும், என் உயர்ந்த அடைக்கலமுமாயிருக்கிறார்.

The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

துதிக்குப் பாத்திரராகிய கர்த்தரை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிடுவேன்; அதனால் என் சத்துருக்களுக்கு நீங்கலாகி இரட்சிக்கப்படுவேன்.

I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

மரணக்கட்டுகள் என்னைச் சுற்றிக்கொண்டன; துர்ச்சனப்பிரவாகம் என்னைப் பயப்படுத்தினது.

The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.

பாதாளக்கட்டுகள் என்னைச் சூழ்ந்துகொண்டதன; மரணக் கண்ணிகள் என்மேல் விழுந்தன.

The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.

எனக்கு உண்டான நெருக்கத்திலே கர்த்தரை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிட்டேன், என் தேவனை நோக்கி அபயமிட்டேன்; தமது ஆலயத்திலிருந்து என் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்டார், என் கூப்பிடுதல் அவர் சந்நிதியில் போய், அவர் செவிகளில் ஏறிற்று.

In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

அவர் கோபங்கொண்டபடியால் பூமி அசைந்து அதிர்ந்தது, பர்வதங்களின் அஸ்திபாரங்கள் குலுங்கி அசைந்தன.

Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.

அவர் நாசியிலிருந்து புகை எழும்பிற்று, அவர் வாயிலிருந்து பட்சிக்கிற அக்கினி புறப்பட்டது; அதனால் தழல் மூண்டது.

There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.

வானங்களைத் தாழ்த்தி இறங்கினார்; அவர் பாதங்களின்கீழ் காரிருள் இருந்தது.

He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.

கேருபீன்மேல் ஏறி வேகமாய்ச் சென்றார்; காற்றின் செட்டைகளைக் கொண்டு பறந்தார்.

And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.

இருளைத் தமக்கு மறைவிடமாக்கினார்; நீர் கொண்டு கறுத்த கார்மேகங்களையும் தம்மைச்சூழக் கூடாரமாக்கினார்.

He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

அவருடைய சந்நிதிப் பிரகாசத்தினால் அவருடைய மேகங்கள், கல்மழையும் நெருப்புத்தழலையும் பொழிந்தன.

At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.

கர்த்தர் வானங்களிலே குமுறினார், உன்னதமானவர் தமது சத்தத்தைத் தொனிக்கப்பண்ணினார்; கல்மழையும் நெருப்புத்தழலும் பொழிந்தன.

The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.

தம்முடைய அம்புகளை எய்து, அவர்களைச் சிதறடித்தார்; மின்னல்களைப் பிரயோகித்து, அவர்களைக் கலங்கப்பண்ணினார்.

Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தாவே, உம்முடைய கண்டிதத்தினாலும் உம்முடைய நாசியின் சுவாசக்காற்றினாலும் தண்ணீர்களின் ஆழங்கள் தென்பட்டன, பூதலத்தின் அஸ்திபாரங்கள் வெளிப்பட்டன.

Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.

உயரத்திலிருந்து அவர் கைநீட்டி, என்னைப் பிடித்து, ஜலப்பிரவாகத்திலிருந்து என்னைத் தூக்கிவிட்டார்.

He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.

என்னிலும் பலவான்களாயிருந்த என் பலத்த சத்துருவுக்கும் என்னைப் பகைக்கிறவர்களுக்கும் என்னை விடுவித்தார்.

He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.

என் ஆபத்துநாளில் எனக்கு எதிரிட்டு வந்தார்கள்; கர்த்தரோ எனக்கு ஆதரவாயிருந்தார்.

They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.

என்மேல் அவர் பிரியமாயிருந்தபடியால்பிரியமாயிருந்தபடியால், விசாலமான இடத்திலே என்னைக் கொண்டுவந்து, என்னைத் தப்புவித்தார்.

He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

கர்த்தர் என் நீதிக்குத்தக்கதாக எனக்குப் பதிலளித்தார்; என் கைகளின் சுத்தத்திற்குத்தக்கதாக எனக்குச் சரிக்கட்டினார்.

The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.

ஏனெனில் கர்த்தருடைய வழிகளைக் கைக்கொண்டுவந்தேன்; நான் என் தேவனைவிட்டுத் துன்மார்க்கமாய் விலகினதில்லை.

For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.

அவருடைய நியாயங்களையெல்லாம் எனக்கு முன்பாக இருக்கின்றன; அவருடைய பிரமாணங்களை நான் தள்ளிப்போடவில்லை.

For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.

அவர் முன்பாக நான் உத்தமனாயிருந்து, என் துர்க்குணத்துக்கு என்னை விலக்கிக் காத்துக்கொண்டேன்.

I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.

ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் என் நீதிக்குத் தக்கதாகவும், தம்முடைய கண்களுக்கு முன்னிருக்கிற என் கைகளின் சுத்தத்திற்கும் தக்கதாகவும் எனக்குப் பலனளித்தார்.

Therefore hath the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.

தயவுள்ளவனுக்கு நீர் தயவுள்ளவராகவும், உத்தமனுக்கு நீர் உத்தமராகவும்;

With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright;

புனிதனுக்கு நீர் புனிதராகவும், மாறுபாடுள்ளவனுக்கு நீர் மாறுபடுகிறவராகவும் தோன்றுவீர்.

With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.

தேவரீர் சிறுமைப்பட்ட ஜனத்தை இரட்சிப்பீர்; மேட்டிமையான கண்களைத் தாழ்த்துவீர்.

For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.

தேவரீர் என் விளக்கை ஏற்றுவீர்; என் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் என் இருளை வெளிச்சமாக்குவார்.

For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.

உம்மாலே ஒரு சேனைக்குள் பாய்ந்துபோவேன்; என் தேவனாலே ஒரு மதிலைத் தாண்டுவேன்.

For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.

தேவனுடைய வழி உத்தமமானது; கர்த்தருடைய வசனம் புடமிடப்பட்டது; தம்மை நம்புகிற அனைவருக்கும் அவர் கேடகமாயிருக்கிறார்.

As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

கர்த்தரை அல்லாமல் தேவன் யார்? நம்முடைய தேவனையன்றிக் கன்மலையும் யார்?

For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?

என்னைப் பலத்தால் இடைகட்டி, என் வழியைச் செவ்வைப்படுத்துகிறவர் தேவனே.

It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.

அவர் என் கால்களை மான்களுடைய கால்களைப்போலாக்கி, என் உயர்தலங்களில் என்னை நிறுத்துகிறார்.

He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places.

வெண்கல வில்லும் என் புயங்களால் வளையும்படி, என் கைகளை யுத்தத்திற்குப் பழக்குவிக்கிறார்.

He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.

உம்முடைய இரட்சிப்பின் கேடகத்தையும் எனக்குத் தந்தீர்; உம்முடைய வலதுகரம் என்னைத் தாங்குகிறது; உம்முடைய காருணியம் என்னைப் பெரியவனாக்கும்.

Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.

என் கால்கள் வழுவாதபடிக்கு, நான் நடக்கிற வழியை அகலமாக்கினீர்.

Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.

என் சத்துருக்களைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து, அவர்களைப் பிடித்தேன்; அவர்களை நிர்மூலமாக்கும் வரைக்கும் நான் திரும்பவில்லை.

I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.

அவர்கள் எழுந்திருக்க முடியாதபடி அவர்களை வெட்டினேன்.

I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet.

யுத்தத்திற்கு நீர் என்னைப் பலத்தால் இடைகட்டி, என்மேல் எழும்பினவர்களை என் கீழ் மடங்கப்பண்ணினீர்.

For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.

நான் என் பகைஞரைச் சங்கரிக்கும்படியாக, என் சத்துருக்களின் பிடரியை எனக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தீர்.

Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me.

அவர்கள் கூப்பிடுகிறார்கள், அவர்களை இரட்சிப்பார் ஒருவருமில்லை; கர்த்தரை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிடுகிறார்கள், அவர்களுக்கு அவர் பதிலளிக்கிறதில்லை.

They cried, but there was none to save them: even unto the LORD, but he answered them not.

நான் அவர்களைக் காற்றுமுகத்திலே பறக்கிற தூளாக இடித்து, தெருக்களிலுள்ள சேற்றைப்போல் அவர்களை எறிந்துபோடுகிறேன்.

Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets.

ஜனங்களின் கலகங்களுக்கு நீர் என்னைத் தப்புவித்தீர், ஜாதிகளுக்கு என்னைத் தலைவனாக்குகிறீர்; நான் அறியாத ஜனங்கள் என்னைச் சேவிக்கிறார்கள்.

Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.

அவர்கள் என் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்டவுடனே எனக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிகிறார்கள்; அந்நியரும் என்னிடம் கூனிக் குறுகுகிறார்கள்.

As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.

அந்நியர் மனமடிந்து, தங்கள் அரண்களிலிருந்து தத்தளிப்பாய்ப் புறப்படுகிறார்கள்.

The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.

கர்த்தர் ஜீவனுள்ளவர்; என் கன்மலையானவர் ஸ்தோத்திரிக்கப்படுவாராக; என் இரட்சிப்பின் தேவன் உயர்ந்திருப்பாராக.

The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.

அவர் எனக்காகப் பழிக்குப் பழிவாங்குகிற தேவன். அவர் ஜனங்களை எனக்குக் கீழ்ப்படுத்துகிறவர்.

It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.

அவரே என் சத்துருக்களுக்கு என்னை விலக்கி விடுவிக்கிறவர்; எனக்கு விரோதமாய் எழும்புகிறவர்களைவிட என்னை நீர் உயர்த்தி, கொடுமையான மனுஷனுக்கு என்னைத் தப்புவிக்கிறீர்.

He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.

இதினிமித்தம் கர்த்தாவே, ஜாதிகளுக்குள்ளே உம்மைத் துதித்து, உம்முடைய நாமத்திற்குச் சங்கீதம் பாடுவேன்.

Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.

தாம் ஏற்படுத்தின இராஜாவுக்கு மகத்தான இரட்சிப்பை அளித்து, தாம் அபிஷேகம்பண்ணின தாவீதுக்கும் அவன் சந்ததிக்கும் சதாகாலமும் கிருபை செய்கிறார்.

Great deliverance giveth he to his king; and sheweth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.

மாற்கு அத்தியாயம் 14

இரண்டு நாளைக்குப்பின்பு புளிப்பில்லாத அப்பஞ்சாப்பிடுகிற பஸ்காபண்டிகை வந்தது. அப்பொழுது பிரதான ஆசாரியரும் வேதபாரகரும், அவரைத் தந்திரமாய்ப் பிடித்துக் கொலைசெய்யும்படி வகைதேடினார்கள்.

After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.

ஆகிலும் ஜனங்களுக்குள்ளே கலகம் உண்டாகாதபடிக்கு, பண்டிகையிலே அப்படிச் செய்யலாகாது என்றார்கள்.

But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people.

அவர் பெத்தானியாவில் குஷ்டரோகியாயிருந்த சீமோன் வீட்டிலே போஜனபந்தியிருக்கையில், ஒரு ஸ்திரீ விலையேறப்பெற்ற நளதம் என்னும் உத்தம தைலமுள்ள வெள்ளைக்கல் பரணியைக் கொண்டுவந்து, அதை உடைத்து, அந்தத் தைலத்தை அவர் சிரசின்மேல் ஊற்றினாள்.

And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.

அப்பொழுது சிலர் தங்களுக்குள்ளே விசனமடைந்து: இந்தத் தைலத்தை இப்படி வீணாய்ச் செலவழிப்பானேன்?

And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?

இதை முந்நூறு பணத்துக்கு அதிகமான கிரயத்துக்கு விற்று, தரித்திரருக்குக் கொடுக்கலாமே என்று சொல்லி, அவளைக்குறித்து முறுமுறுத்தார்கள்.

For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.

இயேசு அவர்களை நோக்கி: அவளை விட்டுவிடுங்கள்; ஏன் அவளைத் தொந்தரவுபடுத்துகிறீர்கள்? என்னிடத்தில் நற்கிரியையைச் செய்திருக்கிறாள்.

And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.

தரித்திரர் எப்போதும் உங்களிடத்தில் இருக்கிறார்கள், உங்களுக்கு மனதுண்டாகும்போதெல்லாம் நீங்கள் அவர்களுக்கு நன்மை செய்யலாம், நானோ எப்போதும் உங்களிடத்தில் இரேன்.

For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.

இவள் தன்னால் இயன்றதைச் செய்தாள்; நான் அடக்கம்பண்ணப்படுவதற்கு எத்தனமாக, என் சரீரத்தில் தைலம்பூச முந்திக்கொண்டாள்.

She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.

இந்தச் சுவிசேஷம் உலகத்தில் எங்கெங்கே பிரசங்கிக்கப்படுமோ அங்கங்கே இவளை நினைப்பதற்காக இவள் செய்ததும் சொல்லப்படும் என்று மெய்யாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.

Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.

அப்பொழுது, பன்னிருவரில் ஒருவனாகிய யூதாஸ்காரியோத்து என்பவன் அவரைப் பிரதான ஆசாரியருக்குக் காட்டிக்கொடுக்கும்படி அவர்களிடத்திற்குப்போனான்.

And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests, to betray him unto them.

அவர்கள் அதைக் கேட்டு, சந்தோஷப்பட்டு, அவனுக்குப் பணங்கொடுப்போம் என்று வாக்குத்தத்தம் பண்ணினார்கள்; அவன் அவரைக் காட்டிக்கொடுப்பதற்குத் தகுந்த சமயம் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.

And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him.

பஸ்காவைப் பலியிடும் நாளாகிய புளிப்பில்லாத அப்பஞ்சாப்பிடுகிற முதலாம் நாளிலே, அவருடைய சீஷர்கள் அவரிடத்தில் வந்து: நீர் பஸ்காவைப் புசிப்பதற்கு நாங்கள் எங்கே போய் ஆயத்தம்பண்ணச் சித்தமாயிருக்கிறீர் என்று கேட்டார்கள்.

And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover?

அவர் தம்முடைய சீஷரில் இரண்டுபேரை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் நகரத்திற்குள்ளே போங்கள், அங்கே தண்ணீர்க்குடம் சுமந்துவருகிற ஒரு மனுஷன் உங்களுக்கு எதிர்ப்படுவான், அவன் பின்னே போங்கள்;

And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.

அவன் எந்த வீட்டிற்குள் பிரவேசிக்கிறானோ அந்த வீட்டு எஜமானை நீங்கள் நோக்கி: நான் என் சீஷரோடுகூடப் பஸ்காவைப் புசிக்கிறதற்குத் தகுதியான இடம் எங்கேயென்று போதகர் கேட்கிறார் என்று சொல்லுங்கள்.

And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?

அவன் கம்பளம் முதலானவைகள் விரித்து ஆயத்தம்பண்ணப்பட்டிருக்கிற விஸ்தாரமான மேல்வீட்டறையை உங்களுக்குக் காண்பிப்பான்; அங்கே நமக்காக ஆயத்தம்பண்ணுங்கள் என்று சொல்லி அனுப்பினார்.

And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.

அப்படியே, அவருடைய சீஷர் புறப்பட்டு நகரத்தில் போய், தங்களுக்கு அவர் சொன்னபடியே கண்டு, பஸ்காவை ஆயத்தம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

சாயங்காலமானபோது, அவர் பன்னிருவரோடுங்கூட அவ்விடத்திற்கு வந்தார்.

And in the evening he cometh with the twelve.

அவர்கள் பந்தியமர்ந்து போஜனம்பண்ணுகையில், இயேசு அவர்களை நோக்கி: என்னுடனே புசிக்கிற உங்களில் ஒருவன் என்னைக் காட்டிக்கொடுப்பான் என்று, மெய்யாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.

And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me.

அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் துக்கமடைந்து: நானோ? நானோ? என்று ஒவ்வொருவரும், அவரிடத்தில் கேட்கத் தொடங்கினார்கள்.

And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I?

அவர் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: என்னுடனேகூடத் தாலத்தில் கையிடுகிறவனாகிய பன்னிருவரிலொருவனே அவன் என்று சொல்லி;

And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dippeth with me in the dish.

மனுஷகுமாரன் தம்மைக்குறித்து எழுதியிருக்கிறபடியே போகிறார்; ஆகிலும், எந்த மனுஷனால் மனுஷகுமாரன் காட்டிக்கொடுக்கப்படுகிறாரோ, அந்த மனுஷனுக்கு ஐயோ! அந்த மனுஷன் பிறவாதிருந்தானானால் அவனுக்கு நலமாயிருக்கும் என்றார்.

The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.

அவர்கள் போஜனம்பண்ணுகையில், இயேசு அப்பத்தை எடுத்து ஆசீர்வதித்து, அதைப் பிட்டு, அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்து: நீங்கள் வாங்கிப் புசியுங்கள், இது என்னுடைய சரீரமாயிருக்கிறது என்றார்.

And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.

பின்பு, பாத்திரத்தையும் எடுத்து, ஸ்தோத்திரம்பண்ணி, அதை அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்தார். அவர்களெல்லாரும் அதிலே பானம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.

அப்பொழுது அவர் அவர்களை நோக்கி: இது அநேகருக்காகச் சிந்தப்படுகிற புது உடன்படிக்கைக்குரிய என்னுடைய இரத்தமாயிருக்கிறது.

And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.

நான் தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யத்தில் நவமான ரசத்தைப் பானம்பண்ணும் நாள்வரைக்கும் திராட்சப்பழரசத்தை இனி நான் பானம்பண்ணுவதில்லையென்று மெய்யாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.

Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

அவர்கள் ஸ்தோத்திரப்பாட்டைப் பாடினபின்பு, ஒலிவமலைக்குப் புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள்.

And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

அப்பொழுது, இயேசு அவர்களை நோக்கி: மேய்ப்பனை வெட்டுவேன், ஆடுகள் சிதறடிக்கப்படும், என்று எழுதியிருக்கிறபடி, இந்த இராத்திரியிலே நீங்களெல்லாரும் என்னிமித்தம் இடறலடைவீர்கள்.

And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.

ஆகிலும் நான் உயிர்த்தெழுந்தபின்பு, உங்களுக்கு முன்னே கலிலேயாவுக்குப் போவேன் என்றார்.

But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.

அதற்குப் பேதுரு: உமதுநிமித்தம் எல்லாரும் இடறலடைந்தாலும், நான் இடறலடையேன் என்றான்.

But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I.

இயேசு அவனை நோக்கி: இன்றைக்கு, இந்த இராத்திரியிலே, சேவல் இரண்டுதரம் கூவுகிறதற்குமுன்னே, நீ மூன்றுதரம் என்னை மறுதலிப்பாய் என்று மெய்யாகவே உனக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.

And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.

அதற்கு அவன்: நான் உம்மோடே மரிக்கவேண்டியதாயிருந்தாலும் உம்மை மறுதலிக்கமாட்டேன் என்று உறுதியாய்ச் சொன்னான்; எல்லாரும் அப்படியே சொன்னார்கள்.

But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all.

பின்பு கெத்செமனே என்னப்பட்ட இடத்திற்கு வந்தார்கள். அப்பொழுது அவர் தம்முடைய சீஷர்களை நோக்கி: நான் ஜெபம்பண்ணுமளவும் இங்கே உட்கார்ந்திருங்கள் என்று சொல்லி;

And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray.

பேதுருவையும், யாக்கோபையும், யோவானையும் தம்மோடே கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய், திகிலடையவும், மிகவும் வியாகுலப்படவும் தொடங்கினார்.

And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;

அப்பொழுது அவர்: என் ஆத்துமா மரணத்துக்கேதுவான துக்கங்கொண்டிருக்கிறது. நீங்கள் இங்கே தங்கி, விழித்திருங்கள் என்று சொல்லி,

And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.

சற்று அப்புறம்போய், தரையிலே விழுந்து, அந்த வேளை தம்மைவிட்டு நீங்கிப்போகக்கூடுமானால் அது நீங்கவேண்டுமென்று வேண்டிக்கொண்டு:

And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.

அப்பா பிதாவே, எல்லாம் உம்மாலே கூடும்; இந்தப் பாத்திரத்தை என்னிடத்திலிருந்து எடுத்துப்போடும், ஆகிலும் என் சித்தத்தின்படியல்ல, உம்முடைய சித்தத்தின்படியே ஆகக்கடவது என்றார்.

And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.

பின்பு அவர் வந்து, அவர்கள் நித்திரைபண்ணுகிறதைக்கண்டு, பேதுருவை நோக்கி: சீமோனே, நித்திரைபண்ணுகிறாயா? ஒரு மணிநேரம் நீ விழித்திருக்கக்கூடாதா?

And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?

நீங்கள் சோதனைக்குட்படாதபடிக்கு விழித்திருந்து ஜெபம்பண்ணுங்கள். ஆவி உற்சாகமுள்ளதுதான், மாம்சமோ பலவீனமுள்ளது என்றார்.

Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.

அவர் மறுபடியும் போய் அந்த வார்த்தைகளையே சொல்லி ஜெபம்பண்ணினார்.

And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words.

அவர் திரும்ப வந்தபோது, அவர்கள் மறுபடியும் நித்திரைபண்ணுகிறதைக் கண்டார்; அவர்களுடைய கண்கள் மிகுந்த நித்திரைமயக்கம் அடைந்திருந்தபடியால், தாங்கள் மறுமொழியாக அவருக்குச் சொல்லுவது இன்னதென்று அறியாதிருந்தார்கள்.

And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him.

அவர் மூன்றாந்தரம் வந்து: இனி நித்திரைப்பண்ணி இளைப்பாறுங்கள்; போதும், வேளை வந்தது, இதோ, மனுஷகுமாரன் பாவிகளுடைய கைகளில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்படுகிறார்.

And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

என்னைக் காட்டிக்கொடுக்கிறவன், இதோ, வந்துவிட்டான், எழுந்திருங்கள், போவோம் என்றார்.

Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand.

And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.

அவரைக் காட்டிக்கொடுக்கிறவன்: நான் எவனை முத்தஞ்செய்வேனோ அவன் தான், அவனைப் பிடித்துப் பத்திரமாய்க் கொண்டுபோங்கள் என்று அவர்களுக்குக் குறிப்புச் சொல்லியிருந்தான்.

And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.

அவன் வந்தவுடனே, அவரண்டையில் சேர்ந்து: ரபீ, ரபீ, என்று சொல்லி, அவரை முத்தஞ்செய்தான்.

And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.

அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் அவர்மேல் கைபோட்டு, அவரைப் பிடித்தார்கள்.

And they laid their hands on him, and took him.

அப்பொழுது கூடநின்றவர்களில் ஒருவன் கத்தியை உருவி, பிரதான ஆசாரியனுடைய வேலைக்காரனைக் காதறவெட்டினான்.

And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

இயேசு அவர்களை நோக்கி: கள்ளனைப் பிடிக்கப் புறப்படுகிறதுபோல, நீங்கள் பட்டயங்களையும் தடிகளையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு என்னைப் பிடிக்கவந்தீர்கள்;

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me?

நான் தினந்தோறும் உங்கள் நடுவிலே தேவாலயத்தில் உபதேசம்பண்ணிக்கொண்டிருந்தேன்; அப்பொழுது நீங்கள் என்னைப் பிடிக்கவில்லையே; ஆனாலும் வேதவாக்கியங்கள் நிறைவேற வேண்டியதாயிருக்கிறது என்றார்.

I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.

அப்பொழுது எல்லாரும் அவரை விட்டு ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.

And they all forsook him, and fled.

ஒரு வாலிபன் ஒரு துப்பட்டியை மாத்திரம் தன்மேல் போர்த்துக்கொண்டு அவர் பின்னே போனான்; அவனைப் பிடித்தார்கள்.

And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him:

அவன் தன் துப்பட்டியைப் போட்டுவிட்டு, நிர்வாணமாய் அவர்களை விட்டு ஓடிப்போனான்.

And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.

இயேசுவை அவர்கள் பிரதான ஆசாரியனிடத்தில் கொண்டுபோனார்கள்; அங்கே ஆசாரியர் மூப்பர் வேதபாரகர் எல்லாரும் கூடிவந்திருந்தார்கள்.

And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.

பேதுரு தூரத்திலே அவருக்குப் பின்சென்று, பிரதான ஆசாரியனுடைய அரமனைக்குள் வந்து, சேவகரோடேகூட உட்கார்ந்து, நெருப்பண்டையிலே குளிர்க்காய்ந்துகொண்டிருந்தான்.

And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.

அப்பொழுது பிரதான ஆசாரியரும் ஆலோசனைசங்கத்தாரனைவரும் இயேசுவைக் கொலைசெய்யும்படி அவருக்கு விரோதமாகச் சாட்சி தேடினார்கள்; அகப்படவில்லை.

And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.

அநேகர் அவருக்கு விரோதமாகப் பொய்ச்சாட்சி சொல்லியும், அந்தச் சாட்சிகள் ஒவ்வவில்லை.

For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.

அப்பொழுது சிலர் எழுந்து, கைவேலையாகிய இந்தத் தேவாலயத்தை நான் இடித்துப்போட்டு, கைவேலையல்லாத வேறொன்றை மூன்று நாளைக்குள்ளே கட்டுவேன் என்று இவன் சொன்னதை நாங்கள் கேட்டோம் என்று,

And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,

அவருக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பொய்ச்சாட்சி சொன்னார்கள்.

We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.

அப்படிச் சொல்லியும் அவர்கள் சாட்சி ஒவ்வாமற்போயிற்று.

But neither so did their witness agree together.

அப்பொழுது பிரதான ஆசாரியன் எழுந்து நடுவே நின்று, இயேசுவை நோக்கி: இவர்கள் உனக்கு விரோதமாய்ச் சொல்லுகிறதைக்குறித்து நீ ஒன்றும் சொல்லுகிறதில்லையா என்று கேட்டான்.

And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?

அவரோ ஒரு உத்தரவும் சொல்லாமல் பேசாதிருந்தார். மறுபடியும் பிரதான ஆசாரியன் அவரை நோக்கி: நீ ஸ்தோத்திரிக்கப்பட்ட தேவனுடைய குமாரனாகிய கிறிஸ்துதானா? என்று கேட்டான்.

But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

அதற்கு இயேசு: நான் அவர்தான்; மனுஷகுமாரன் சர்வவல்லவரின் வலதுபாரிசத்தில் வீற்றிருப்பதையும், வானத்தின் மேகங்கள்மேல் வருவதையும் நீங்கள் காண்பீர்கள் என்றார்.

And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

பிரதான ஆசாரியன் இதைக் கேட்டவுடனே, தன் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு: இனிச் சாட்சிகள் நமக்கு வேண்டியதென்ன?

Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?

தேவதூஷணத்தைக் கேட்டீர்களே, உங்களுக்கு என்னமாய்த் தோன்றுகிறது என்றான். அதற்கு அவர்களெல்லாரும்: இவன் மரணத்துக்குப் பாத்திரனாயிருக்கிறான் என்று தீர்மானம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.

அப்பொழுது சிலர் அவர்மேல் துப்பவும், அவருடைய முகத்தை மூடவும், அவரைக் குட்டவும், ஞானதிருஷ்டியினாலே பார்த்துச் சொல் என்று சொல்லவும் தொடங்கினார்கள்; வேலைக்காரரும் அவரைக் கன்னத்தில் அறைந்தார்கள்.

And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.

அத்தருணத்திலே பேதுரு கீழே அரமனை முற்றத்திலிருக்கையில், பிரதான ஆசாரியனுடைய வேலைக்காரிகளில் ஒருத்தி வந்து,

And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest:

குளிர்க்காய்ந்துகொண்டிருக்கிற பேதுருவைக் கண்டு, அவனை உற்றுப்பார்த்து: நீயும் நசரேயனாகிய இயேசுவோடே இருந்தாய் என்றாள்.

And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.

அதற்கு அவன்: நான் அறியேன்; நீ சொல்லுகிறது எனக்குத் தெரியாது என்று மறுதலித்து, வெளியே வாசல் மண்டபத்துக்குப் போனான்; அப்பொழுது சேவல் கூவிற்று.

But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.

வேலைக்காரி அவனை மறுபடியும் கண்டு: இவன் அவர்களில் ஒருவன் என்று அருகே நின்றவர்களுக்குச் சொன்னாள்.

And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.

அவன் மறுபடியும் மறுதலித்தான். சற்றுநேரத்துக்குப்பின்பு மறுபடியும் அருகே நிற்கிறவர்கள் பேதுருவைப் பார்த்து: மெய்யாகவே நீ அவர்களில் ஒருவன், நீ கலிலேயன், உன் பேச்சு அதற்கு ஒத்திருக்கிறது என்றார்கள்.

And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto.
