யோசுவா அத்தியாயம் 14

கானான் தேசத்திலே இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொண்ட தேசங்களை ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரும், நூனின் குமாரனாகிய யோசுவாவும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருடைய கோத்திரப் பிதாக்களின் தலைவரும், கர்த்தர் மோசேயைக்கொண்டு கட்டளையிட்டபடி சீட்டுப்போட்டு,

And these are the countries which the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed for inheritance to them.

ஒன்பதரைக் கோத்திரங்களுக்கும் சுதந்தரமாகப் பங்கிட்டார்கள்.

By lot was their inheritance, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half tribe.

மற்ற இரண்டரைக் கோத்திரங்களுக்கும் மோசே யோர்தானுக்கு அப்புறத்திலே சுதந்தரம் கொடுத்திருந்தான்; லேவியருக்கு மாத்திரம் அவர்கள் நடுவே சுதந்தரம் கொடுக்கவில்லை.

For Moses had given the inheritance of two tribes and an half tribe on the other side Jordan: but unto the Levites he gave none inheritance among them.

மனாசே எப்பிராயீம் என்னும் யோசேப்பின் புத்திரர் இரண்டு கோத்திரங்களானார்கள்; ஆதலால் அவர்கள் லேவியருக்கு தேசத்திலே பங்குகொடாமல், குடியிருக்கும்படி பட்டணங்களையும், அவர்களுடைய ஆடுமாடுகள் முதலான சொத்துக்காக வெளிநிலங்களையுமாத்திரம் அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்தார்கள்.

For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: therefore they gave no part unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with their suburbs for their cattle and for their substance.

கர்த்தர் மோசேக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடி இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் செய்து, தேசத்தைப் பங்கிட்டார்கள்.

As the LORD commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did, and they divided the land.

அப்பொழுது யூதாவின் புத்திரர் கில்காலிலே யோசுவாவினிடத்தில் வந்தார்கள்; கேனாசியனான எப்புன்னேயின் குமாரனாகிய காலேப் அவனை நோக்கி: காதேஸ்பர்னெயாவிலே கர்த்தர் என்னைக்குறித்தும் உம்மைக்குறித்தும் தேவனுடைய மனுஷனாகிய மோசேயோடே சொன்ன வார்த்தையை நீர் அறிவீர்.

Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the LORD said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadeshbarnea.

தேசத்தை வேவுபார்க்கக் கர்த்தரின் தாசனாகிய மோசே என்னைக் காதேஸ்பர்னெயாவிலிருந்து அனுப்புகிறபோது, எனக்கு நாற்பது வயதாயிருந்தது; என் இருதயத்திலுள்ளபடியே அவருக்கு மறுசெய்தி கொண்டு வந்தேன்.

Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadeshbarnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.

ஆனாலும் என்னோடேகூட வந்த என் சகோதரர் ஜனத்தின் இருதயத்தைக் கரையப்பண்ணினார்கள்; நானோ என் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை உத்தமமாய்ப் பின்பற்றினேன்.

Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God.

அந்நாளிலே மோசே: நீ என் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை உத்தமமாய்ப் பின்பற்றினபடியினால், உன் கால் மிதித்த தேசம் உனக்கும் உன் பிள்ளைகளுக்கும் என்றைக்கும் சுதந்தரமாயிருக்கக்கடவது என்று சொல்லி ஆணையிட்டார்.

And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children's for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the LORD my God.

இப்போதும், இதோ, கர்த்தர் சொன்னபடியே என்னை உயிரோடே காத்தார்; இஸ்ரவேலர் வனாந்தரத்தில் சஞ்சரிக்கையில், கர்த்தர் அந்த வார்த்தையை மோசேயோடே சொல்லி இப்போது நாற்பத்தைந்து வருஷமாயிற்று; இதோ, இன்று நான் எண்பத்தைந்து வயதுள்ளவன்.

And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.

மோசே என்னை அனுப்புகிற நாளில், எனக்கு இருந்த அந்தப் பெலன் இந்நாள் வரைக்கும் எனக்கு இருக்கிறது; யுத்தத்திற்குப் போக்கும் வரத்துமாயிருக்கிறதற்கு அப்போது எனக்கு இருந்த பெலன் இப்போதும் எனக்கு இருக்கிறது.

As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.

ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் அந்நாளிலே சொன்ன இந்த மலைநாட்டை எனக்குத்தாரும்; அங்கே ஏனாக்கியரும், அரணிப்பான பெரிய பட்டணங்களும் உண்டென்று நீர் அந்நாளிலே கேள்விப்பட்டீரே; கர்த்தர் என்னோடிருப்பாரானால், கர்த்தர் சொன்னபடி, அவர்களைத் துரத்திவிடுவேன் என்றான்.

Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.

அப்பொழுது யோசுவா: எப்புன்னேயின் குமாரனாகிய காலேபை ஆசீர்வதித்து, எபிரோனை அவனுக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுத்தான்.

And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.

ஆதலால் கேனாசியனான எப்புன்னேயின் குமாரனாகிய காலேப் இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை உத்தமமாய் பின்பற்றினபடியினால், இந்நாள்மட்டும் இருக்கிறபடி, எபிரோன் அவனுக்குச் சுதந்தரமாயிற்று.

Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.

முன்னே எபிரோனுக்குக் கீரியாத் அர்பா என்று பேரிருந்தது; அர்பா என்பவன் ஏனாக்கியருக்குள்ளே பெரிய மனுஷனாயிருந்தான்; யுத்தம் ஓய்ந்ததினால் தேசம் அமைதலாயிருந்தது.

And the name of Hebron before was Kirjatharba; which Arba was a great man among the Anakims. And the land had rest from war.

யோசுவா அத்தியாயம் 15

யூதா புத்திரரின் கோத்திரத்திற்கு அவர்களுடைய வம்சங்களின்படி உண்டான பங்குவீதமாவது: ஏதோமின் எல்லைக்கு அருகான சீன்வனாந்தரமே தென்புறத்தின் கடையெல்லை.

This then was the lot of the tribe of the children of Judah by their families; even to the border of Edom the wilderness of Zin southward was the uttermost part of the south coast.

தென்புறமான அவர்களுடைய எல்லை உப்புக்கடலின் கடைசியில் தெற்கு முகமாயிருக்கிற முனைதுவக்கி,

And their south border was from the shore of the salt sea, from the bay that looketh southward:

தென்புறத்திலிருக்கிற அக்ராபீமின் மேடுகளுக்கும், அங்கேயிருந்து சீனுக்கும் போய், தெற்கேயிருக்கிற காதேஸ்பர்னெயாவுக்கு ஏறி, எஸ்ரோனைக் கடந்து, ஆதாருக்கு ஏறி, கர்க்காவைச் சுற்றிப் போய்,

And it went out to the south side to Maalehacrabbim, and passed along to Zin, and ascended up on the south side unto Kadeshbarnea, and passed along to Hezron, and went up to Adar, and fetched a compass to Karkaa:

அஸ்மோனுக்கும், அங்கேயிருந்து எகிப்தின் ஆற்றுக்கும் சென்று, கடல் மட்டும் போய் முடியும்; இதுவே உங்களுக்குத் தென்புறமான எல்லையாயிருக்கும் என்றான்.

From thence it passed toward Azmon, and went out unto the river of Egypt; and the goings out of that coast were at the sea: this shall be your south coast.

கீழ்ப்புறமான எல்லை, யோர்தான் முகத்துவாரமட்டும் இருக்கிற உப்புக்கடல். வடபுறமான எல்லை, யோர்தான் முகத்துவாரமிருக்கிற கடலின் முனைதுவக்கி,

And the east border was the salt sea, even unto the end of Jordan. And their border in the north quarter was from the bay of the sea at the uttermost part of Jordan:

பெத்எக்லாவுக்கு ஏறி, வடக்கேயிருக்கிற பெத்அரபாவைக் கடந்து, ரூபனின் குமாரனாகிய போகனின் கல்லுக்கு ஏறிப்போய்,

And the border went up to Bethhogla, and passed along by the north of Betharabah; and the border went up to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben:

அப்புறம் ஆகோர் பள்ளத்தாக்கைவிட்டுத் தெபீருக்கு ஏறி, வடக்கே ஆற்றின் தென்புறமான அதும்மீமின் மேட்டுக்கு முன்பாக இருக்கிற கில்காலுக்கு நேராகவும், அங்கேயிருந்து என்சேமேசின் தண்ணீரிடத்துக்கும் போய், ரொகேல் என்னும் கிணற்றுக்குச் சென்று,

And the border went up toward Debir from the valley of Achor, and so northward, looking toward Gilgal, that is before the going up to Adummim, which is on the south side of the river: and the border passed toward the waters of Enshemesh, and the goings out thereof were at Enrogel:

அப்புறம் எபூசியர் குடியிருக்கிற எருசலேமுக்குத் தென்புறமாய் இன்னோமுடைய குமாரனின் பள்ளத்தாக்கைக் கடந்து, வடக்கேயிருக்கிற இராட்சதருடைய பள்ளத்தாக்கின் கடைசியில் மேற்காக இன்னோம் பள்ளத்தாக்கின் முன்னிருக்கிற மலையின் சிகரமட்டும் ஏறிப்போய்,

And the border went up by the valley of the son of Hinnom unto the south side of the Jebusite; the same is Jerusalem: and the border went up to the top of the mountain that lieth before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the end of the valley of the giants northward:

அந்த மலையின் சிகரத்திலிருந்து நெப்தோவாவின் நீரூற்றுக்குப் போய், எப்பெரோன் மலையின் பட்டணங்களுக்குச் சென்று, கீரியாத்யெயாரீமாகிய பாலாவுக்குப் போய்,

And the border was drawn from the top of the hill unto the fountain of the water of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of mount Ephron; and the border was drawn to Baalah, which is Kirjathjearim:

பாலாவிலிருந்து மேற்கே சேயீர் மலைக்குத் திரும்பி, வடக்கே இருக்கிற கெசலோனாகிய யெயாரீம் மலைக்குப் பக்கமாகப் போய், பெத்ஷிமேசுக்கு இறங்கி, திம்னாவுக்குப் போய்,

And the border compassed from Baalah westward unto mount Seir, and passed along unto the side of mount Jearim, which is Chesalon, on the north side, and went down to Bethshemesh, and passed on to Timnah:

அப்புறம் வடக்கேயிருக்கிற எக்ரோனுக்குப் பக்கமாய்ச் சென்று, சிக்ரோனுக்கு ஓடி, பாலாமலையைக் கடந்து, யாப்னியேலுக்குச் சென்று, கடலிலே முடியும்.

And the border went out unto the side of Ekron northward: and the border was drawn to Shicron, and passed along to mount Baalah, and went out unto Jabneel; and the goings out of the border were at the sea.

மேற்புறமான எல்லை, பெரிய சமுத்திரமே; இது யூதா புத்திரருக்கு அவர்களுடைய வம்சங்களின்படி சுற்றிலுமிருக்கும் எல்லை.

And the west border was to the great sea, and the coast thereof. This is the coast of the children of Judah round about according to their families.

எப்புன்னேயின் குமாரனாகிய காலேபுக்கு, யோசுவா, கர்த்தர் தனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடி, ஏனாக்கின் தகப்பனாகிய அர்பாவின் பட்டணமான எபிரோனை, யூதா புத்திரரின் நடுவே, பங்காகக் கொடுத்தான்.

And unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a part among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the LORD to Joshua, even the city of Arba the father of Anak, which city is Hebron.

அங்கேயிருந்த சேசாய், அகீமான், தல்மாய் என்னும் ஏனாக்கின் மூன்று குமாரரையும் காலேப் துரத்திவிட்டு,

And Caleb drove thence the three sons of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak.

அங்கேயிருந்து தெபீரின் குடிகளிடத்திற்குப் போனான்; முற்காலத்திலே தெபீரின் பேர் கீரியாத்செப்பேர்.

And he went up thence to the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before was Kirjathsepher.

கீரியாத்செப்பேரை சங்காரம்பண்ணிப் பிடிக்கிறவனுக்கு, என் குமாரத்தியாகிய அக்சாளை விவாகம்பண்ணிக்கொடுப்பேன் என்று காலேப் சொன்னான்.

And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjathsepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife.

அப்பொழுது காலேபின் சகோதரனாகிய கேனாசின் மகன் ஒத்னியேல் அதைப் பிடித்தான்; ஆகையால் தன் குமாரத்தி அக்சாளை அவனுக்கு விவாகம்பண்ணிக்கொடுத்தான்.

And Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife.

அவள் புறப்படுகையில், என் தகப்பனிடத்தில் ஒரு வயல்வெளியைக் கேட்கவேண்டும் என்று அவனிடத்தில் உத்தரவு பெற்றுக்கொண்டு, கழுதையின்மேலிருந்து இறங்கினாள். காலேப் பார்த்து: உனக்கு என்னவேண்டும் என்றான்.

And it came to pass, as she came unto him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou?

அப்பொழுது அவள்: எனக்கு ஒரு ஆசீர்வாதம் தரவேண்டும்; எனக்கு வறட்சியான நிலத்தைத் தந்தீர்; நீர்ப்பாய்ச்சலான நிலத்தையும் எனக்குத் தரவேண்டும் என்றாள்; அப்பொழுது அவளுக்கு மேற்புறத்திலும் கீழ்ப்புறத்திலும் நீர்ப்பாய்ச்சலான நிலங்களைக் கொடுத்தான்.

Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.

யூதா புத்திரருக்கு அவர்களுடைய வம்சங்களின்படி உண்டான சுதந்தரம் என்னவென்றால்:

This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families.

கடையாந்தரத் தென்புறமான ஏதோமின் எல்லைக்கு நேராய், யூதா புத்திரரின் கோத்திரத்திற்குக் கிடைத்த பட்டணங்களாவன: கப்செயேல், ஏதேர், யாகூர்,

And the uttermost cities of the tribe of the children of Judah toward the coast of Edom southward were Kabzeel, and Eder, and Jagur,

கீனா. திமோனா, ஆதாதா,

And Kinah, and Dimonah, and Adadah,

கேதேஸ், ஆத்சோர், இத்னான்,

And Kedesh, and Hazor, and Ithnan,

சீப், தேலெம், பெயாலோத்,

Ziph, and Telem, and Bealoth,

ஆத்சோர், அதாத்தா, கீரியோத், எஸ்ரோன் என்னும் ஆத்சோர்,

And Hazor, Hadattah, and Kerioth, and Hezron, which is Hazor,

ஆமாம், சேமா, மொலாதா,

Amam, and Shema, and Moladah,

ஆத்சார்காதா, எஸ்மோன், பெத்பாலேத்,

And Hazargaddah, and Heshmon, and Bethpalet,

ஆத்சார்சுவால், பெயர்செபா, பிஸ்யோத்யா,

And Hazarshual, and Beersheba, and Bizjothjah,

பாலா, ஈயிம், ஆத்சேம்,

Baalah, and Iim, and Azem,

எல்தோலாத், கெசீல், ஒர்மா,

And Eltolad, and Chesil, and Hormah,

சிக்லாக், மத்மன்னா, சன்சன்னா,

And Ziklag, and Madmannah, and Sansannah,

லெபாயோத், சில்லீம், ஆயின், ரிம்மோன் என்பவைகள்; எல்லாப் பட்டணங்களும் அவைகளுடைய கிராமங்களுமுட்பட இருபத்தொன்பது.

And Lebaoth, and Shilhim, and Ain, and Rimmon: all the cities are twenty and nine, with their villages:

பள்ளத்தாக்கு நாட்டில் எஸ்தாவோல், சோரியா, அஷ்னா,

And in the valley, Eshtaol, and Zoreah, and Ashnah,

சனோகா, என்கன்னீம், தப்புவா, ஏனாம்,

And Zanoah, and Engannim, Tappuah, and Enam,

யர்மூத், அதுல்லாம், சோக்கோ, அசேக்கா,

Jarmuth, and Adullam, Socoh, and Azekah,

சாராயீம், அதித்தாயீம், கெதேரா, கேதெரொத்தாயீம்; இந்தப் பட்டணங்களும் அவைகளுடைய கிராமங்களுமுட்பட பதினான்கு.

And Sharaim, and Adithaim, and Gederah, and Gederothaim; fourteen cities with their villages:

சேனான், அதாஷா, மிக்தால்காத்,

Zenan, and Hadashah, and Migdalgad,

திலியான், மிஸ்பே, யோக்தெயேல்,

And Dilean, and Mizpeh, and Joktheel,

லாகீஸ், போஸ்காத், எக்லோன்,

Lachish, and Bozkath, and Eglon,

காபோன், லகமாம், கித்லீஷ்,

And Cabbon, and Lahmam, and Kithlish,

கெதெரோத், பெத்டாகோன், நாகமா, மக்கேதா; இந்தப் பட்டணங்களும் அவைகளுடைய கிராமங்களுமுட்படப் பதினாறு.

And Gederoth, Bethdagon, and Naamah, and Makkedah; sixteen cities with their villages:

லிப்னா, ஏத்தேர், ஆஷான்,

Libnah, and Ether, and Ashan,

இப்தா, அஸ்னா, நெத்சீப்,

And Jiphtah, and Ashnah, and Nezib,

கேகிலா, அக்சீப், மரேஷா; இந்தப் பட்டணங்களும் அவைகளுடைய கிராமங்களுமுட்பட ஒன்பது.

And Keilah, and Achzib, and Mareshah; nine cities with their villages:

எக்ரோனும் அதின் வெளிநிலங்களும் கிராமங்களும்,

Ekron, with her towns and her villages:

எக்ரோன் துவக்கிச் சமுத்திரம் மட்டும், அஸ்தோத்தின் புறத்திலிருக்கிற சகல ஊர்களும், அவைகளின் கிராமங்களும்,

From Ekron even unto the sea, all that lay near Ashdod, with their villages:

அஸ்தோத்தும், அதின் வெளிநிலங்களும் கிராமங்களும், காசாவும் எகிப்தின் நதிமட்டுமிருக்கிற அதின் வெளிநிலங்களும் கிராமங்களுமே; பெரிய சமுத்திரமே எல்லை.

Ashdod with her towns and her villages, Gaza with her towns and her villages, unto the river of Egypt, and the great sea, and the border thereof:

மலைகளில், சாமீர், யாத்தீர், சோக்கோ,

And in the mountains, Shamir, and Jattir, and Socoh,

தன்னா, தெபீர் என்னப்பட்ட கீரியாத்சன்னா,

And Dannah, and Kirjathsannah, which is Debir,

ஆனாப், எஸ்தெமொ, ஆனீம்,

And Anab, and Eshtemoh, and Anim,

கோசேன், ஓலோன், கிலொ; இந்தப் பட்டணங்களும் அவைகளுடைய கிராமங்களுமுட்படப் பதினொன்று.

And Goshen, and Holon, and Giloh; eleven cities with their villages:

அராப், தூமா, எஷியான்,

Arab, and Dumah, and Eshean,

யானூம், பெத்தப்புவா, ஆப்பெக்கா,

And Janum, and Bethtappuah, and Aphekah,

உம்தா, எபிரோனாகிய கீரியாத் அர்பா, சீயோர்; இந்தப் பட்டணங்களும் அவைகளுடைய கிராமங்களுமுட்பட ஒன்பது.

And Humtah, and Kirjatharba, which is Hebron, and Zior; nine cities with their villages:

மாகோன், கர்மேல், சீப், யுத்தா,

Maon, Carmel, and Ziph, and Juttah,

யெஸ்ரயேல், யொக்தெயாம், சனோகா,

And Jezreel, and Jokdeam, and Zanoah,

காயின், கிபியா, திம்னா; இந்தப் பட்டணங்களும் அவைகளுடைய கிராமங்களுமுட்படப் பத்து.

Cain, Gibeah, and Timnah; ten cities with their villages:

அல்கூல், பெத்சூர், கெதோர்,

Halhul, Bethzur, and Gedor,

மகாராத், பெதானோத், எல்தெகோன்; இந்தப் பட்டணங்களும் அவைகளுடைய கிராமங்களுமுட்பட ஆறு.

And Maarath, and Bethanoth, and Eltekon; six cities with their villages:

கீரியாத்யெயாரீமாகிய கீரியாத்பாகால், ரபா; இந்தப் பட்டணங்களும் அவைகளுடைய கிராமங்களுமுட்பட இரண்டு.

Kirjathbaal, which is Kirjathjearim, and Rabbah; two cities with their villages:

வனாந்தரத்தில், பெத்அரபா, மித்தீன், செக்காக்கா,

In the wilderness, Betharabah, Middin, and Secacah,

நிப்சான், உப்புப்பட்டணம், என்கேதி; இந்தப் பட்டணங்களும் அவைகளுடைய கிராமங்களுமுட்பட ஆறு.

And Nibshan, and the city of Salt, and Engedi; six cities with their villages.

எருசலேமிலே குடியிருந்த எபூசியரை யூதா புத்திரர் துரத்திவிடக்கூடாமற்போயிற்று; ஆகையால் இந்நாள்மட்டும் எபூசியர் யூதா புத்திரரோடே எருசலேமிலே குடியிருக்கிறார்கள்.

As for the Jebusites the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out: but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem unto this day.

யோசேப்பின் புத்திரருக்கு விழுந்த சீட்டினால் அகப்பட்ட பங்குவீதமாவது: எரிகோவின் அருகே இருக்கிற யோர்தானிலிருந்து, யோர்தானுக்குக் கிழக்கான தண்ணீருக்குப் போய், எரிகோ துவக்கிப் பெத்தேலின் மலைகள் மட்டுமுள்ள வனாந்தர வழியாகவும் சென்று,

And the lot of the children of Joseph fell from Jordan by Jericho, unto the water of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goeth up from Jericho throughout mount Bethel,

பெத்தேலிலிருந்து லூசுக்குப் போய், அர்கீயினுடைய எல்லையாகிய அதரோத்தைக் கடந்து,

And goeth out from Bethel to Luz, and passeth along unto the borders of Archi to Ataroth,

மேற்கே யப்லெத்தியரின் எல்லைக்கும் தாழ்வான பெத்தொரோன் காசேர் என்னும் எல்லைகள் மட்டும் இறங்கி, சமுத்திரம்வரைக்கும் போய் முடியும்.

And goeth down westward to the coast of Japhleti, unto the coast of Bethhoron the nether, and to Gezer: and the goings out thereof are at the sea.

இதை யோசேப்பின் புத்திரராகிய மனாசேயும் எப்பிராயீமும் சுதந்தரித்தார்கள்.

So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.

எப்பிராயீம் புத்திரருக்கு அவர்களுடைய வம்சங்களின்படி உண்டான சுதந்தரத்தினுடைய கிழக்கு எல்லை, அதரோத் அதார் துவக்கி, மேலான பெத்தொரோன்மட்டும் போகிறது.

And the border of the children of Ephraim according to their families was thus: even the border of their inheritance on the east side was Atarothaddar, unto Bethhoron the upper;

மேற்கு எல்லை மிக்மேத்தாத்திற்கு வடக்காகச் சென்று, கிழக்கே தானாத்சீலோவுக்குத் திரும்பி, அதை யநோகாவுக்குக் கிழக்காகக் கடந்து,

And the border went out toward the sea to Michmethah on the north side; and the border went about eastward unto Taanathshiloh, and passed by it on the east to Janohah;

யநோகாவிலிருந்து அதரோத்திற்கும் நகராத்திற்கும் இறங்கி, எரிகோவின் அருகே வந்து, யோர்தானுக்குச் செல்லும்.

And it went down from Janohah to Ataroth, and to Naarath, and came to Jericho, and went out at Jordan.

தப்புவாவிலிருந்து மேற்கு எல்லை, கானாநதிக்குப் போய், சமுத்திரத்திலே முடியும்; இது எப்பிராயீம் புத்திரரின் கோத்திரத்திற்கு அவர்கள் வம்சங்களின்படி உண்டான சுதந்தரம்.

The border went out from Tappuah westward unto the river Kanah; and the goings out thereof were at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families.

பின்னும் எப்பிராயீம் புத்திரருக்குப் பிரத்தியேகமாய்க் கொடுக்கப்பட்ட பட்டணங்களும் அவைகளின் கிராமங்களுமெல்லாம் மனாசே புத்திரருடைய சுதந்தரத்தின் நடுவே இருக்கிறது.

And the separate cities for the children of Ephraim were among the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages.

அவர்கள் காசேரிலே குடியிருந்த கானானியரைத் துரத்திவிடவில்லை; ஆகையால் கானானியர், இந்நாள்மட்டும் இருக்கிறபடி, எப்பிராயீமருக்குள்ளே குடியிருந்து, பகுதிகட்டுகிறவர்களாய்ச் சேவிக்கிறார்கள்.

And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute.

அப்போஸ்தலர் அத்தியாயம் 10

இத்தாலியா பட்டாளம் என்னப்பட்ட பட்டாளத்திலே நூற்றுக்கு அதிபதியாகிய கொர்நேலியு என்னும் பேர்கொண்ட ஒரு மனுஷன் செசரியா பட்டணத்திலே இருந்தான்.

There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,

அவன் தேவபக்தியுள்ளவனும் தன் வீட்டாரனைவரோடும் தேவனுக்குப் பயந்தவனுமாயிருந்து, ஜனங்களுக்கு மிகுந்த தருமங்களைச் செய்து, எப்பொழுதும் தேவனை நோக்கி ஜெபம் பண்ணிக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.

A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

பகலில் ஏறக்குறைய ஒன்பதாம்மணி நேரத்திலே தேவனுடைய தூதன் தன்னிடத்தில் வரவும், கொர்நேலியுவே, என்று அழைக்கவும் பிரத்தியட்சமாய்த் தரிசனங்கண்டு,

He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

அவனை உற்றுப்பார்த்து, பயந்து: ஆண்டவரே, என்ன என்றான். அப்பொழுது அவன்: உன் ஜெபங்களும் உன் தருமங்களும் தேவனுக்கு நினைப்பூட்டுதலாக அவர் சந்நிதியில் வந்தெட்டியிருக்கிறது.

And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

இப்பொழுது நீ யோப்பா பட்டணத்துக்கு மனுஷரை அனுப்பி, பேதுரு என்று மறுபேர்கொண்ட சீமோனை அழைப்பி.

And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

அவன் தோல் பதனிடுகிறவனாகிய சீமோன் என்னும் ஒருவனிடத்தில் தங்கியிருக்கிறான்; அவனுடைய வீடு கடலோரத்திலிருக்கிறது. நீ செய்யவேண்டியதை அவன் உனக்குச் சொல்லுவான் என்றான்.

He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

கொர்நேலியு தன்னுடனே பேசின தேவதூதன் போனபின்பு, தன் வீட்டு மனுஷரில் இரண்டுபேரையும் தன்னிடத்தில் சேவிக்கிற போர்ச்சேவகரில் தேவபக்தியுள்ள ஒருவனையும் அழைத்து,

And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;

எல்லாவற்றையும் அவர்களுக்கு விவரித்துச் சொல்லி, அவர்களை யோப்பா பட்டணத்துக்கு அனுப்பினான்.

And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

மறுநாளிலே அவர்கள் பிரயாணப்பட்டு, அந்தப் பட்டணத்துக்குச் சமீபித்துவருகையில், பேதுரு ஆறாம்மணி நேரத்திலே ஜெபம்பண்ணும்படி மேல் வீட்டில் ஏறினான்.

On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:

அவன் மிகுந்த பசியடைந்து சாப்பிட மனதாயிருந்தான்; அதற்கு அவர்கள் ஆயத்தம்பண்ணுகையில், அவன் ஞானதிருஷ்டியடைந்து,

And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,

வானம் திறந்திருக்கிறதாகவும், நாலுமுனைகளும் கட்டப்பட்ட பெரிய துப்பட்டியைப்போல ஒருவிதமான கூடு தன்னிடத்தில் இறங்கித் தரையில் விடப்பட்டிருக்கிறதாகவும்,

And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:

அதிலே பூமியிலுள்ள சகலவிதமான நாலுகால் ஜீவன்களும், காட்டுமிருகங்களும், ஊரும் பிராணிகளும், ஆகாயத்துப் பறவைகளும் இருக்கிறதாகவும் கண்டான்.

Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

அல்லாமலும்: பேதுருவே, எழுந்திரு, அடித்துப் புசி என்று அவனுக்குச் சொல்லும் ஒரு சத்தம் உண்டாயிற்று.

And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.

அதற்குப் பேதுரு: அப்படியல்ல, ஆண்டவரே, தீட்டும் அசுத்தமுமாயிருக்கிற யாதொன்றையும் நான் ஒருக்காலும் புசித்ததில்லை என்றான்.

But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

அப்பொழுது: தேவன் சுத்தமாக்கினவைகளை நீ தீட்டாக எண்ணாதே என்று இரண்டாந்தரமும் சத்தம் அவனுக்கு உண்டாயிற்று.

And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

மூன்றாந்தரமும் அப்படியே உண்டாயிற்று. பின்பு அந்தக் கூடு திரும்ப வானத்துக்கு எடுத்துக்கொள்ளப்பட்டது.

This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

அப்பொழுது பேதுரு, தான் கண்ட தரிசனத்தைக்குறித்துத் தனக்குள்ளே சந்தேகப்படுகையில், இதோ, கொர்நேலியுவினால் அனுப்பப்பட்ட மனுஷர்கள் சீமோனுடைய வீட்டை விசாரித்துக்கொண்டு வாசற்படியிலே வந்து நின்று:

Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate,

பேதுரு என்று மறுபேர்கொண்ட சீமோன் இங்கே தங்கியிருக்கிறாரா என்று கேட்டார்கள்.

And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.

பேதுரு அந்தத் தரிசனத்தைக்குறித்துச் சிந்தனைபண்ணிக்கொண்டிருக்கையில், ஆவியானவர்: இதோ, மூன்று மனுஷர் உன்னைத் தேடுகிறார்கள்.

While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.

நீ எழுந்து, இறங்கி, ஒன்றுக்கும் சந்தேகப்படாமல், அவர்களுடனே கூடப்போ; நானே அவர்களை அனுப்பினேன் என்று அவனுக்குச் சொன்னார்.

Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

அப்பொழுது பேதுரு கொர்நேலியுவினால் தன்னிடத்தில் அனுப்பப்பட்ட மனுஷரிடத்திற்கு இறங்கிப்போய்: இதோ, நீங்கள் தேடுகிறவன் நான்தான், நீங்கள் வந்திருக்கிற காரியம் என்ன என்றான்.

Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?

அதற்கு அவர்கள்: நீதிமானும், தேவனுக்குப் பயப்படுகிறவரும், யூதஜனங்களெல்லாராலும் நல்லவரென்று சாட்சி பெற்றவருமாகிய கொர்நேலியு என்னும் நூற்றுக்கு அதிபதி உம்மைத் தம்முடைய வீட்டுக்கு அழைப்பித்து, உம்மால் சொல்லப்படும் வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்கும்படி பரிசுத்த தூதனாலே தேவயத்தனமாய்க் கட்டளைப்பெற்றார் என்றார்கள்.

And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.

அப்பொழுது பேதுரு அவர்களை உள்ளே அழைத்து, அவர்களுக்கு உபசாரஞ்செய்து, மறுநாளிலே அவர்களுடனே கூடப் புறப்பட்டான்; யோப்பா பட்டணத்தாராகிய சகோதரரில் சிலரும் அவனுடனேகூடப் போனார்கள்.

Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.

மறுநாளிலே செசரியா பட்டணத்தில் பிரவேசித்தார்கள். கொர்நேலியு தன் உறவின் முறையாரையும் தன்னுடைய விசேஷித்த சிநேகிதரையும் கூடவரவழைத்து, அவர்களுக்காகக் காத்திருந்தான்.

And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and had called together his kinsmen and near friends.

பேதுரு உள்ளே பிரவேசிக்கிறபொழுது, கொர்நேலியு அவனுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோய், அவன் பாதத்தில் விழுந்து, பணிந்துகொண்டான்.

And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.

பேதுரு அவனைத் தூக்கியெடுத்து: எழுந்திரும், நானும் ஒரு மனுஷன்தான் என்றான்.

But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

அவனுடனே பேசிக்கொண்டு, உள்ளேபோய், அநேகர் கூடிவந்திருக்கிறதைக் கண்டு,

And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.

அவர்களை நோக்கி: அந்நிய ஜாதியானோடே கலந்து அவனிடத்தில் போக்குவரவாயிருப்பது யூதனானவனுக்கு விலக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறதென்று நீங்கள் அறிந்திருக்கிறீர்கள்; அப்படியிருந்தும், எந்த மனுஷனையும் தீட்டுள்ளவனென்றும் அசுத்தனென்றும் நான் சொல்லாதபடிக்கு தேவன் எனக்குக் காண்பித்திருக்கிறார்.

And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

ஆகையால் நீங்கள் என்னை அழைப்பித்தபோது நான் எதிர்பேசாமல் வந்தேன். இப்போதும் என்ன காரியத்துக்காக என்னை அழைப்பித்தீர்கள் என்று கேட்கிறேன் என்றான்.

Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?

அதற்குக் கொர்நேலியு: நாலு நாளைக்கு முன்னே இந்நேரத்திலே நான் உபவாசித்து, ஒன்பதாம்மணி நேரத்தில் என் வீட்டிலே ஜெபம்பண்ணிக்கொண்டிருந்தேன்; அப்பொழுது பிரகாசமுள்ள வஸ்திரந்தரித்த மனுஷன் ஒருவன் எனக்கு முன்பாக நின்று:

And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

கொர்நேலியுவே, உன் ஜெபம் கேட்கப்பட்டது, உன் தானதருமங்கள் தேவசந்நிதியில் நினைத்தருளப்பட்டது.

And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

யோப்பா பட்டணத்துக்கு ஆள் அனுப்பி, பேதுரு என்று மறுபேர் கொண்ட சீமோனை வரவழைப்பாயாக, அவன் கடலோரத்திலே தோல்பதனிடுகிறவனாகிய சீமோனுடைய வீட்டிலே தங்கியிருக்கிறான்; அவன் வந்து உன்னிடத்தில் பேசுவான் என்றார்.

Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.

அந்தப்படியே நான் உடனே உம்மிடத்திற்கு ஆள் அனுப்பினேன்; நீர் வந்தது நல்ல காரியம்; தேவனாலே உமக்குக் கட்டளையிடப்பட்ட யாவையும் கேட்கும்படிக்கு நாங்கள் எல்லாரும் இப்பொழுது இங்கே தேவசமுகத்தில் கூடியிருக்கிறோம் என்றான்.

Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

அப்பொழுது பேதுரு பேசத்தொடங்கி: தேவன் பட்சபாதமுள்ளவரல்ல என்றும்,

Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

எந்த ஜனத்திலாயினும் அவருக்குப் பயந்திருந்து நீதியைச் செய்கிறவன் எவனோ அவனே அவருக்கு உகந்தவன் என்றும் நிச்சயமாய் அறிந்திருக்கிறேன்.

But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

எல்லாருக்கும் கர்த்தராயிருக்கிற இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவைக்கொண்டு அவர் சமாதானத்தைச் சுவிசேஷமாய்க் கூறி, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு அனுப்பின வார்த்தையை அறிந்திருக்கிறீர்களே.

The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

யோவான் ஞானஸ்நானத்தைக்குறித்துப் பிரசங்கித்தபின்பு, கலிலேயா நாடு முதற்கொண்டு யூதேயா தேசமெங்கும் நடந்த சங்கதி இதுவே.

That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

நசரேயனாகிய இயேசுவை தேவன் பரிசுத்த ஆவியினாலும் வல்லமையினாலும் அபிஷேகம் பண்ணினார்; தேவன் அவருடனேகூட இருந்தபடியினாலே அவர் நன்மைசெய்கிறவராயும் பிசாசின் வல்லமையில் அகப்பட்ட யாவரையும் குணமாக்குகிறவராயும் சுற்றித்திரிந்தார்.

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

யூதருடைய தேசத்திலும் எருசலேமிலும் அவர் செய்தவைகளெல்லாவற்றிற்கும் நாங்கள் சாட்சிகளாயிருக்கிறோம். அவரை மரத்திலே தூக்கிக் கொலைசெய்தார்கள்.

And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:

மூன்றாம் நாளிலே தேவன் அவரை எழுப்பிப் பிரத்தியட்சமாய்க் காணும்படி செய்தார்.

Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;

ஆயினும் எல்லா ஜனங்களுக்கும் பிரத்தியட்சமாகும்படி செய்யாமல், அவர் மரித்தோரிலிருந்து எழுந்தபின்பு அவரோடே புசித்துக் குடித்தவர்களும் தேவனால் முன்பு நியமிக்கப்பட்ட சாட்சிகளுமாகிய எங்களுக்கே பிரத்தியட்சமாகும்படி செய்தார்.

Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.

அன்றியும் அவரே உயிரோடிருக்கிறவர்களுக்கும் மரித்தோர்களுக்கும் தேவனால் ஏற்படுத்தப்பட்ட நியாயாதிபதியென்று ஜனங்களுக்குப் பிரசங்கிக்கவும், சாட்சியாக ஒப்புவிக்கவும், அவர் எங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டார்.

And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

அவரை விசுவாசிக்கிறவன் எவனோ அவன் அவருடைய நாமத்தினாலே பாவமன்னிப்பைப் பெறுவானென்று தீர்க்கதரிசிகளெல்லாரும் அவரைக்குறித்தே சாட்சிகொடுக்கிறார்கள் என்றான்.

To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

இந்த வார்த்தைகளைப் பேதுரு பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கையில் வசனத்தைக் கேட்டவர்கள் யாவர்மேலும் பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவர் இறங்கினார்.

While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

அவர்கள் பல பாஷைகளைப் பேசுகிறதையும், தேவனைப் புகழுகிறதையும்,

And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

பேதுருவோடேகூட வந்திருந்த விருத்தசேதனமுள்ள விசுவாசிகள் கேட்கும்போது, பரிசுத்த ஆவியின் வரம் புறஜாதிகள்மேலும், பொழிந்தருளப்பட்டதைக்குறித்துப் பிரமித்தார்கள்.

For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

அப்பொழுது பேதுரு: நம்மைப்போல பரிசுத்த ஆவியைப் பெற்ற இவர்களும் ஞானஸ்நானம் பெறாதபடிக்கு எவனாகிலும் தண்ணீரை விலக்கலாமா என்று சொல்லி,

Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

கர்த்தருடைய நாமத்தினாலே அவர்களுக்கு ஞானஸ்நானங்கொடுக்கும்படி கட்டளையிட்டான். அப்பொழுது சிலநாள் அங்கே தங்கும்படி அவனை வேண்டிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
