ஓசியா அத்தியாயம் 1

யூதாதேசத்து ராஜாக்களாகிய உசியா, யோதாம், ஆகாஸ், எசேக்கியா என்பவர்களின் நாட்களிலும், யோவாசின் குமாரனாகிய யெஸ்ரயேலின் ராஜாவாகிய யெரொபெயாம் என்பவனின் நாட்களிலும், பெயேரியின் குமாரனாகிய ஓசியாவுக்கு உண்டான கர்த்தருடைய வசனம்.

The word of the LORD that came unto Hosea, the son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel.

கர்த்தர் ஓசியாவைக்கொண்டு உரைக்கத்தொடங்கினபோது, கர்த்தர் ஓசியாவை நோக்கி: நீ போய், ஒரு சோரஸ்திரீயையும் சோரப்பிள்ளைகளையும் உன்னிடமாகச் சேர்த்துக்கொள்; தேசம் கர்த்தரை விட்டு விலகிச் சோரம்போயிற்று என்றார்.

The beginning of the word of the LORD by Hosea. And the LORD said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, departing from the LORD.

அவன் போய், திப்லாயிமின் குமாரத்தியாகிய கோமேரைச் சேர்த்துக்கொண்டான்; அவள் கர்ப்பந்தரித்து, அவனுக்கு ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்றாள்.

So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; which conceived, and bare him a son.

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் அவனை நோக்கி: இவனுக்கு யெஸ்ரயேல் என்னும் பேரிடு; ஏனெனில் இன்னும் கொஞ்சகாலத்திலே நான் ஏகூவின் வம்சத்தாரிடத்திலே யெஸ்ரயேலின் இரத்தப்பழியை விசாரித்து, இஸ்ரவேல் வம்சத்தாரின் ராஜ்யபாரத்தை ஒழியப்பண்ணுவேன்.

And the LORD said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause to cease the kingdom of the house of Israel.

அந்நாளில் யெஸ்ரயேலின் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே இஸ்ரவேலின் வில்லை முறிப்பேன் என்றார்.

And it shall come to pass at that day, that I will break the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel.

அவள் திரும்பக் கர்ப்பந்தரித்து, ஒரு குமாரத்தியைப் பெற்றாள்; அப்பொழுது அவர் அவனை நோக்கி: இவளுக்கு லோருகாமா என்னும் பேரிடு; ஏனெனில், நான் இனி இஸ்ரவேல் வம்சத்தாருக்கு இரக்கஞ்செய்வதில்லை, நான் அவர்களை முழுவதும் அகற்றிவிடுவேன்.

And she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And God said unto him, Call her name Loruhamah: for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel; but I will utterly take them away.

யூதாவின் வம்சத்தாருக்கோ நான் இரக்கஞ்செய்வேன்; வில்லினாலும், பட்டயத்தினாலும், யுத்தத்தினாலும், குதிரைகளினாலும், குதிரைவீரரினாலும் நான் அவர்களை இரட்சியாமல், அவர்களுடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தராலே அவர்களை இரட்சிப்பேன் என்றார்.

But I will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save them by the LORD their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen.

அவள் லோருகாமாவை முலைமறக்கப்பண்ணினபிற்பாடு, கர்ப்பந்தரித்து ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்றாள்.

Now when she had weaned Loruhamah, she conceived, and bare a son.

அப்பொழுது அவர்: இவனுக்கு லோகம்மீ என்னும் பேரிடு; ஏனெனில் நீங்கள் என் ஜனமல்ல, நான் உங்கள் தேவனாயிருப்பதில்லை.

Then said God, Call his name Loammi: for ye are not my people, and I will not be your God.

என்றாலும், இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரின் தொகை அளக்கவும் எண்ணவுங்கூடாத கடற்கரை மணலைப்போலிருக்கும்; நீங்கள் என் ஜனமல்ல என்று அவர்களுக்குச் சொல்லுவதற்குப் பதிலாக நீங்கள் ஜீவனுள்ள தேவனுடைய பிள்ளைகள் என்று அவர்களுக்குச் சொல்லப்படும்.

Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.

அப்பொழுது யூதா புத்திரரும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரும் ஏகமாய்க் கூட்டப்பட்டு, தங்களுக்கு ஒரே அதிபதியை ஏற்படுத்தி, தேசத்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு வருவார்கள்; யெஸ்ரயேலின் நாள் பெரிதாயிருக்கும்.

Then shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be gathered together, and appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up out of the land: for great shall be the day of Jezreel.

ஓசியா அத்தியாயம் 2

உங்கள் சகோதரரைப்பார்த்து அம்மீ என்றும், உங்கள் சகோதரிகளைப்பார்த்து ருகாமா என்றும் சொல்லுங்கள்.

Say ye unto your brethren, Ammi; and to your sisters, Ruhamah.

உங்கள் தாயோடே வழக்காடுங்கள்; அவள் எனக்கு மனைவியுமல்ல, நான் அவளுக்குப் புருஷனுமல்ல; அவள் தன் வேசித்தனங்களைத் தன் முகத்தினின்றும், தன் விபசாரங்களைத் தன் ஸ்தனங்களின் நடுவினின்றும் விலக்கிப்போடக்கடவள்.

Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts;

இல்லாவிட்டால் நான் அவளை நிர்வாணமாக உரிந்து, அவள் பிறந்தநாளில் இருந்தவண்ணமாக அவளை நிறுத்தி, அவளை அந்தரவெளியைப்போலாக்கி, அவளை வறண்டபூமியைப்போல் விட்டு, அவளைத் தாகத்தால் சாகப்பண்ணுவேன்;

Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst.

அவளுடைய பிள்ளைகள் சோரப்பிள்ளைகளாகையால் அவர்களுக்கு இரங்காதிருப்பேன்.

And I will not have mercy upon her children; for they be the children of whoredoms.

அவர்களுடைய தாய் சோரம்போனாள், அவர்களைக் கர்ப்பந்தரித்தவள் இலச்சையான காரியங்களைச் செய்தாள்; அப்பத்தையும், தண்ணீரையும், ஆட்டுமயிரையும், பஞ்சையும், எண்ணெயையும், பானங்களையும் கொடுத்துவருகிற என் நேசர்களைப் பின்பற்றிப்போவேன் என்றாள்.

For their mother hath played the harlot: she that conceived them hath done shamefully: for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, mine oil and my drink.

ஆகையால், இதோ, நான் உன் வழியை முள்ளுகளினால் அடைப்பேன்; அவள் தன் பாதைகளைக் கண்டுபிடிக்கக்கூடாதபடிக்கு மதிலை எழுப்புவேன்.

Therefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns, and make a wall, that she shall not find her paths.

அவள் தன் நேசர்களைப் பின்தொடர்ந்தும் அவர்களைச் சேருவதில்லை, அவர்களைத் தேடியும் கண்டுபிடிப்பதில்லை; அப்பொழுது அவள்: நான் என் முந்தின புருஷனிடத்துக்குத் திரும்பிப்போவேன்; இப்பொழுது இருக்கிறதைப்பார்க்கிலும் அப்பொழுது எனக்கு நன்மையாயிருந்தது என்பாள்.

And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now.

தனக்கு நான் தானியத்தையும் திராட்சரசத்தையும் எண்ணெயையும் கொடுத்தவரென்றும், தனக்கு நான் வெள்ளியையும் பொன்னையும் பெருகப்பண்ணினவரென்றும் அவள் அறியாமற்போனாள்; அவைகளை அவர்கள் பாகாலுடையதாக்கினார்கள்.

For she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal.

ஆதலால் நான் என் தானியத்தை அதின் காலத்திலும், என் திராட்சரசத்தை அதின் காலத்திலும் திரும்ப எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, அவளுடைய நிர்வாணத்தை மூடுகிறதற்கு நான் கொடுத்திருந்த ஆட்டுமயிரையும் சணலையும் திரும்பப் பிடுங்கிக்கொள்ளுவேன்.

Therefore will I return, and take away my corn in the time thereof, and my wine in the season thereof, and will recover my wool and my flax given to cover her nakedness.

இப்போதும் அவளுடைய நேசர்களின் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக அவளுடைய அவலட்சணத்தை வெளிப்படுத்துவேன்; ஒருவரும் அவளை என் கைக்கு நீங்கலாக்கி விடுவிப்பதில்லை.

And now will I discover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and none shall deliver her out of mine hand.

அவளுடைய எல்லா மகிழ்ச்சியையும், அவளுடைய பண்டிகைகளையும், அவளுடைய மாதப்பிறப்புகளையும், அவளுடைய ஓய்வுநாட்களையும், சபைகூடுகிற அவளுடைய எல்லா ஆசரிப்புகளையும் ஒழியப்பண்ணுவேன்.

I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts.

என் நேசர்கள் எனக்குக் கொடுத்த பணையம் என்று அவள் சொன்ன அவளுடைய திராட்சச்செடிகளையும், அவளுடைய அத்திமரங்களையும் நான் பாழாக்கி, அவைகளைக் காடாய்ப்போகப்பண்ணுவேன்; காட்டுமிருகங்கள் அவைகளைத் தின்னும்.

And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees, whereof she hath said, These are my rewards that my lovers have given me: and I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field shall eat them.

அவள் பாகால்களுக்குத் தூபங்காட்டி, தன் நெற்றிப்பட்டங்களினாலும் தன் ஆபரணங்களினாலும் தன்னைச் சிங்காரித்துக்கொண்டு, தன் நேசரைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து, என்னை மறந்துபோன நாட்களினிமித்தம் அவளை விசாரிப்பேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

And I will visit upon her the days of Baalim, wherein she burned incense to them, and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her lovers, and forgat me, saith the LORD.

ஆயினும், இதோ, நான் அவளுக்கு நயங்காட்டி, அவளை வனாந்தரத்திலே அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், அவளோடே பட்சமாய்ப் பேசி,

Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her.

அவ்விடத்திலிருந்து அவளுக்கு அவளுடைய திராட்சத்தோட்டங்களையும், நம்பிக்கையின் வாசலாக ஆகோரின் பள்ளத்தாக்கையும் கொடுப்பேன்; அப்பொழுது அவள் அங்கே, தன் இளவயதின் நாட்களிலும் தான் எகிப்துதேசத்திலிருந்து வந்த நாளிலும் பாடினதுபோல் பாடுவாள்.

And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.

அக்காலத்தில் நீ என்னை இனி பாகாலி என்று சொல்லாமல், ஈஷி என்று சொல்லுவாய் என்று கர்த்தர் உரைக்கிறார்.

And it shall be at that day, saith the LORD, that thou shalt call me Ishi; and shalt call me no more Baali.

பாகால்களுடைய நாமங்களை அவள் வாயிலிருந்து அற்றுப்போகப்பண்ணுவேன்; இனி அவைகளின் பேரைச் சொல்லி, அவைகளை நினைக்கிற நினைப்பும் இல்லாமற்போகும்.

For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name.

அக்காலத்தில் நான் அவர்களுக்காகக் காட்டு மிருகங்களோடும், ஆகாயத்துப் பறவைகளோடும், பூமியிலே ஊரும் பிராணிகளோடும், ஒரு உடன்படிக்கைபண்ணி, வில்லையும் பட்டயத்தையும் யுத்தத்தையும் தேசத்திலே இராதபடிக்கு முறித்து, அவர்களைச் சுகமாய்ப் படுத்துக்கொண்டிருக்கப்பண்ணுவேன்.

And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth, and will make them to lie down safely.

நித்திய விவாகத்துக்கென்று உன்னை எனக்கு நியமித்துக்கொள்ளுவேன்; நீதியும் நியாயமும் கிருபையும் உருக்க இரக்கமுமாய் உன்னை எனக்கு நியமித்துக்கொள்ளுவேன்.

And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.

உண்மையாய் உன்னை எனக்கு நியமித்துக்கொள்ளுவேன்; நீ கர்த்தரை அறிந்துகொள்ளுவாய்.

I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the LORD.

அக்காலத்தில் நான் மறுமொழி கொடுப்பேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்; நான் வானங்களுக்கு மறுமொழி கொடுப்பேன், அவைகள் பூமிக்கு மறுமொழி கொடுக்கும்.

And it shall come to pass in that day, I will hear, saith the LORD, I will hear the heavens, and they shall hear the earth;

பூமி தானியத்துக்கும் திராட்சரசத்துக்கும் எண்ணெய்க்கும் மறுமொழிகொடுக்கும், இவைகள் யெஸ்ரயேலுக்கும் மறுமொழி கொடுக்கும்.

And the earth shall hear the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall hear Jezreel.

நான் அவளை எனக்கென்று பூமியிலே விதைத்து, இரக்கம் பெறாதிருந்தவளுக்கு இரங்குவேன்; என் ஜனமல்லாதிருந்தவர்களை நோக்கி: நீ என் ஜனமென்று சொல்லுவேன்; அவர்கள் என் தேவனே என்பார்கள் என்றார்.

And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.

ஓசியா அத்தியாயம் 3

பின்பு கர்த்தர் என்னை நோக்கி: அந்நிய தேவர்களை மதித்து, திராட்சரசமுள்ள பாத்திரங்களை விரும்புகிறவர்களான இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர்பேரில் கர்த்தர் வைத்திருக்கிற அன்புக்கு ஒப்பாக நீ இன்னும் போய், தன் நேசரால் நேசிக்கப்பட்டவளும், விபசாரியுமான ஒரு ஸ்திரீயை நேசித்துக்கொள் என்று சொன்னார்.

Then said the LORD unto me, Go yet, love a woman beloved of her friend, yet an adulteress, according to the love of the LORD toward the children of Israel, who look to other gods, and love flagons of wine.

அப்பொழுது நான் அவளை எனக்குப் பதினைந்து வெள்ளிக்காசுக்கும், ஒன்றரைக்கலம் வாற்கோதுமைக்கும் கொண்டு,

So I bought her to me for fifteen pieces of silver, and for an homer of barley, and an half homer of barley:

அவளை நோக்கி: நீ வேசித்தனம்பண்ணாமலும், ஒருவனையும் சேராமலும் அநேகநாள் எனக்காகக் காத்திரு; உனக்காக நானும் காத்திருப்பேன் என்றேன்.

And I said unto her, Thou shalt abide for me many days; thou shalt not play the harlot, and thou shalt not be for another man: so will I also be for thee.

இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் அநேகநாள் ராஜா இல்லாமலும், அதிபதி இல்லாமலும், பலி இல்லாமலும், சிலை இல்லாமலும், ஏபோத் வஸ்திரம் இல்லாமலும், தேராபீம் இல்லாமலும் இருப்பார்கள்.

For the children of Israel shall abide many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image, and without an ephod, and without teraphim:

பின்பு இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் திரும்பி, தங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரையும், தங்கள் ராஜாவாகிய தாவீதையும் தேடி, கடைசி நாட்களில் கர்த்தரையும், அவருடைய தயவையும் நாடி அஞ்சிக்கையாய் வருவார்கள்.

Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king; and shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the latter days.

ஓசியா அத்தியாயம் 4

இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரே, கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையைக் கேளுங்கள்; தேசத்துக்குடிகளோடே கர்த்தருக்கு வழக்கு இருக்கிறது; அதேனென்றால் தேசத்திலே உண்மையும் இல்லை, இரக்கமும் இல்லை; தேவனைப்பற்றிய அறிவும் இல்லை.

Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

பொய்யாணையிட்டு, பொய்சொல்லி, கொலைசெய்து, திருடி, விபசாரம்பண்ணி, மிஞ்சி மிஞ்சிப்போகிறார்கள்; இரத்தப்பழிகளோடே இரத்தப்பழிகள் சேருகிறது.

By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.

இதினிமித்தம் தேசம் புலம்பும்; அதில் குடியிருக்கிற அனைவரோடுங்கூட மிருகஜீவன்களும் ஆகாயத்துப் பறவைகளும் தொய்ந்துபோகும்; கடலின் மச்சங்களும் வாரிக்கொள்ளப்படும்.

Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.

ஆகிலும் ஒருவனும் நியாயத்தைக் காண்பிக்கவும், ஒருவனும் அவர்களைக் கடிந்துகொள்ளவும் கூடாது; உன் ஜனங்கள் ஆசாரியனோடே வழக்காடுகிறவர்களைப்போல இருக்கிறார்கள்.

Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest.

ஆகையால் நீ பகலிலே இடறிவிழுவாய்; இரவிலே உன்னோடேகூடத் தீர்க்கதரிசியும் இடறிவிழுவான்; உன் தாயை நான் சங்காரம்பண்ணுவேன்.

Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother.

என் ஜனங்கள் அறிவில்லாமையினால் சங்காரமாகிறார்கள்; நீ அறிவை வெறுத்தாய், ஆகையால் நீ என் ஆசாரியனாயிராதபடிக்கு நானும் உன்னை வெறுத்துவிடுவேன்; நீ உன் தேவனுடைய வேதத்தை மறந்தாய், ஆகையால் நானும் உன் பிள்ளைகளை மறந்துவிடுவேன்.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

அவர்கள் எவ்வளவாய்ப் பெருகினார்களோ, அவ்வளவாய் எனக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பாவஞ்செய்தார்கள்; அவர்களுடைய மகிமையை இலச்சையாக மாறப்பண்ணுவேன்.

As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.

அவர்கள் என் ஜனத்தின் பாவத்தைத் தின்று, அவர்களுடைய அக்கிரமத்தின்பேரில் பசிதாகமாயிருக்கிறார்கள்.

They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.

ஆதலால் ஜனங்களுக்கு எப்படியோ ஆசாரியனுக்கும் அப்படியே; அவர்கள் வழிகளின்படி நான் அவர்களை விசாரித்து, அவர்கள் கிரியைகளின்படி அவர்களுக்குப் பலனளிப்பேன்.

And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.

அவர்கள் கர்த்தரை மதியாமலிருக்கிறபடியினால் அவர்கள் தின்றாலும் திருப்தியடையாதிருப்பார்கள்; அவர்கள் வேசித்தனம்பண்ணினாலும் பலுகாதிருப்பார்கள்.

For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the LORD.

வேசித்தனமும் திராட்சரசமும் மதுபானமும் இருதயத்தை மயக்கும்.

Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.

என் ஜனங்கள் கட்டையினிடத்தில் ஆலோசனை கேட்கிறார்கள்; அவர்களுடைய கோல் அவர்களுக்குச் செய்தியை அறிவிக்குமென்றிருக்கிறார்கள்; வேசித்தன ஆவி அவர்களை வழிதப்பித் திரியப்பண்ணிற்று; அவர்கள் தங்கள் தேவனுக்குக் கீழ்ப்பட்டிராமல் சோரமார்க்கம்போனார்கள்.

My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.

அவர்கள் மலையுச்சியில் பலியிட்டு, மேடுகளிலே கர்வாலிமரங்களின் கீழும், புன்னைமரங்களின் கீழும், அரசமரங்களின் கீழும், அவைகளின் நிழல் நல்லதென்று, தூபங்காட்டுகிறார்கள்; இதினிமித்தம் உங்கள் குமாரத்திகள் வேசித்தனமும், உங்கள் மருமக்கள்மார் விபசாரமும் செய்கிறார்கள்.

They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.

உங்கள் குமாரத்திகள் வேசித்தனம் செய்கிறதினிமித்தமும், உங்கள் மருமக்கள்மார் விபசாரம் செய்கிறதினிமித்தமும், நான் அவர்களை தண்டியாமலிருப்பேனோ? அவர்கள் விலகி வேசிகளோடே கூடப்போய் தாசிகளோடே பலியிடுகிறார்கள்; உணர்வில்லாத ஜனங்கள் அதினால் சிக்குண்டு விழுவார்கள்.

I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people that doth not understand shall fall.

இஸ்ரவேலே, நீ சோரம்போனாலும், யூதாவாகிலும் அந்தப் பாவத்துக்குள்ளாகாதிருப்பதாக; கில்காலுக்கு வராமலும், பெத்தாவேனுக்குப் போகாமலும் கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனாணை என்று ஆணையிடாமலும் இருப்பீர்களாக.

Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Bethaven, nor swear, The LORD liveth.

இஸ்ரவேல் அடங்காத கிடாரியைப்போல் அடங்காதிருக்கிறது; இப்போது கர்த்தர் அவர்களை விஸ்தாரமான வெளியிலே ஆட்டுக்குட்டியைப்போல் மேய்ந்து அலையப்பண்ணுவார்.

For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the LORD will feed them as a lamb in a large place.

எப்பிராயீம் விக்கிரகங்களோடு இணைந்திருக்கிறான், அவனைப் போகவிடு.

Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone.

அவர்களுடைய மதுபானம் புளித்தது, அவர்கள் எப்போதும் சோரம்போகிறார்கள்; அவர்களுடைய அதிபதிகள் தாருங்களென்று இலச்சையானதை நாடுகிறார்கள்.

Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers with shame do love, Give ye.

காற்று அவர்களைத் தன் செட்டைகளில் இறுகப்பிடிக்கும்; அவர்கள் தங்கள் பலிகளால் வெட்கப்படுவார்கள்.

The wind hath bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.

யாக்கோபு அத்தியாயம் 1

தேவனுக்கும் கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவுக்கும் ஊழியக்காரனாகிய யாக்கோபு, சிதறியிருக்கிற பன்னிரண்டு கோத்திரங்களுக்கும் வாழ்த்துதல் சொல்லி எழுதுகிறதாவது:

James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.

என் சகோதரரே, நீங்கள் பலவிதமான சோதனைகளில் அகப்படும்போது,

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

உங்கள் விசுவாசத்தின் பரீட்சையானது பொறுமையை உண்டாக்குமென்று அறிந்து, அதை மிகுந்த சந்தோஷமாக எண்ணுங்கள்.

Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

நீங்கள் ஒன்றிலும் குறைவுள்ளவர்களாயிராமல், பூரணராயும் நிறைவுள்ளவர்களாயும் இருக்கும்படி, பொறுமையானது பூரணகிரியை செய்யக்கடவது.

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

உங்களில் ஒருவன் ஞானத்தில் குறைவுள்ளவனாயிருந்தால், யாவருக்கும் சம்பூரணமாய்க் கொடுக்கிறவரும் ஒருவரையும் கடிந்துகொள்ளாதவருமாகிய தேவனிடத்தில் கேட்கக்கடவன், அப்பொழுது அவனுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படும்.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

ஆனாலும் அவன் எவ்வளவாகிலும் சந்தேகப்படாமல் விசுவாசத்தோடே கேட்கக்கடவன்; சந்தேகப்படுகிறவன் காற்றினால் அடிபட்டு அலைகிற கடலின் அலைக்கு ஒப்பாயிருக்கிறான்.

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

அப்படிப்பட்ட மனுஷன் தான் கர்த்தரிடத்தில் எதையாகிலும் பெறலாமென்று நினையாதிருப்பானாக.

For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

இருமனமுள்ளவன் தன் வழிகளிலெல்லாம் நிலையற்றவனாயிருக்கிறான்.

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

தாழ்ந்த சகோதரன் தான் உயர்த்தப்பட்டதைக்குறித்து மேன்மைபாராட்டக்கடவன்.

Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:

ஐசுவரியவான் தான் தாழ்த்தப்பட்டதைக்குறித்து மேன்மைபாராட்டக்கடவன்; ஏனெனில் அவன் புல்லின் பூவைப்போல் ஒழிந்துபோவான்.

But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

சூரியன் கடும் வெய்யிலுடன் உதித்து, புல்லை உலர்த்தும்போது, அதின் பூ உதிர்ந்து, அதின் அழகான வடிவு அழிந்துபோகும்; ஐசுவரியவானும் அப்படியே தன் வழிகளில் வாடிப்போவான்.

For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

சோதனையைச் சகிக்கிற மனுஷன் பாக்கியவான்; அவன் உத்தமனென்று விளங்கினபின்பு கர்த்தர் தம்மிடத்தில் அன்புகூருகிறவர்களுக்கு வாக்குத்தத்தம்பண்ணின ஜீவகிரீடத்தைப் பெறுவான்.

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

சோதிக்கப்படுகிற எவனும், நான் தேவனால் சோதிக்கப்படுகிறேன் என்று சொல்லாதிருப்பானாக; தேவன் பொல்லாங்கினால் சோதிக்கப்படுகிறவரல்ல, ஒருவனையும் அவர் சோதிக்கிறவருமல்ல.

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

அவனவன் தன்தன் சுய இச்சையினாலே இழுக்கப்பட்டு, சிக்குண்டு, சோதிக்கப்படுகிறான்.

But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

பின்பு இச்சையானது கர்ப்பந்தரித்து, பாவத்தைப் பிறப்பிக்கும், பாவம் பூரணமாகும்போது, மரணத்தைப் பிறப்பிக்கும்.

Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

என் பிரியமான சகோதரரே, மோசம்போகாதிருங்கள்.

Do not err, my beloved brethren.

நன்மையான எந்த ஈவும் பூரணமான எந்த வரமும் பரத்திலிருந்துண்டாகி, சோதிகளின் பிதாவினிடத்திலிருந்து இறங்கிவருகிறது; அவரிடத்தில் யாதொரு மாறுதலும் யாதொரு வேற்றுமையின் நிழலுமில்லை.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

அவர் சித்தங்கொண்டு தம்முடைய சிருஷ்டிகளில் நாம் முதற்பலன்களாவதற்கு நம்மைச் சத்திய வசனத்தினாலே ஜெநிப்பித்தார்.

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

ஆகையால், என் பிரியமான சகோதரரே, யாவரும் கேட்கிறதற்குத் தீவிரமாயும், பேசுகிறதற்குப் பொறுமையாயும், கோபிக்கிறதற்குத் தாமதமாயும் இருக்கக்கடவர்கள்;

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

மனுஷருடைய கோபம் தேவனுடைய நீதியை நடப்பிக்கமாட்டாதே.

For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

ஆகையால், நீங்கள் எல்லாவித அழுக்கையும் கொடிய துர்க்குணத்தையும் ஒழித்துவிட்டு, உங்கள் உள்ளத்தில் நாட்டப்பட்டதாயும் உங்கள் ஆத்துமாக்களை இரட்சிக்க வல்லமையுள்ளதாயுமிருக்கிற வசனத்தைச் சாந்தமாய் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

அல்லாமலும், நீங்கள் உங்களை வஞ்சியாதபடிக்குத் திருவசனத்தைக் கேட்கிறவர்களாய் மாத்திரமல்ல அதின்படி செய்கிறவர்களாயும் இருங்கள்.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

என்னத்தினாலெனில், ஒருவன் திருவசனத்தைக்கேட்டும் அதின்படி செய்யாதவனானால், கண்ணாடியிலே தன் சுபாவமுகத்தைப் பார்க்கிற மனுஷனுக்கு ஒப்பா.யிருப்பான்;

For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

அவன் தன்னைத்தானே பார்த்து, அவ்விடம்விட்டுப் போனவுடனே, தன் சாயல் இன்னதென்பதை மறந்துவிடுவான்.

For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

சுயாதீனப்பிரமாணமாகிய பூரணப்பிரமாணத்தை உற்றுப்பார்த்து, அதிலே நிலைத்திருக்கிறவனே கேட்கிறதை மறக்கிறவனாயிராமல், அதற்கேற்ற கிரியை செய்கிறவனாயிருந்து, தன் செய்கையில் பாக்கியவானாயிருப்பான்.

But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

உங்களில் ஒருவன் தன் நாவை அடக்காமல், தன் இருதயத்தை வஞ்சித்து, தன்னை தேவபக்தியுள்ளவனென்று எண்ணினால் அவனுடைய தேவபக்தி வீணாயிருக்கும்.

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

திக்கற்ற பிள்ளைகளும் விதவைகளும் படுகிற உபத்திரவத்திலே அவர்களை விசாரிக்கிறதும், உலகத்தால் கறைபடாதபடிக்குத் தன்னைக் காத்துக்கொள்ளுகிறதுமே பிதாவாகிய தேவனுக்குமுன்பாக மாசில்லாத சுத்தமான பக்தியாயிருக்கிறது.

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

யாக்கோபு அத்தியாயம் 2

என் சகோதரரே, மகிமையுள்ள நம்முடைய கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவின்மேலுள்ள விசுவாசத்தைப் பட்சபாதத்தோடே பற்றிக்கொள்ளாதிருப்பீர்களாக.

My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.

ஏனெனில், பொன்மோதிரமும் மினுக்குள்ள வஸ்திரமும் தரித்திருக்கிற ஒரு மனுஷனும், கந்தையான வஸ்திரம் தரித்திருக்கிற ஒரு தரித்திரனும் உங்கள் ஆலயத்தில் வரும்போது,

For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;

மினுக்குள்ள வஸ்திரந்தரித்தவனைக் கண்ணோக்கி: நீர் இந்த நல்ல இடத்தில் உட்காரும் என்றும்; தரித்திரனைப் பார்த்து: நீ அங்கே நில்லு, அல்லது இங்கே என் பாதபடியண்டையிலே உட்காரு என்றும் நீங்கள் சொன்னால்,

And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:

உங்களுக்குள்ளே போதகம்பண்ணி, தகாத சிந்தனைகளோடே நிதானிக்கிறவர்களாயிருப்பீர்களல்லவா?

Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?

என் பிரியமான சகோதரரே, கேளுங்கள்; தேவன் இவ்வுலகத்தின் தரித்திரரை விசுவாசத்தில் ஐசுவரியவான்களாகவும், தம்மிடத்தில் அன்புகூருகிறவர்களுக்குத் தாம் வாக்குத்தத்தம்பண்ணின ராஜ்யத்தைச் சுதந்தரிக்கிறவர்களாகவும் தெரிந்துகொள்ளவில்லையா?

Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

நீங்களோ தரித்திரரைக் கனவீனம்பண்ணுகிறீர்கள். ஐசுவரியவான்களல்லவோ உங்களை ஒடுக்குகிறார்கள்? அவர்களல்லவோ உங்களை நியாயாசனங்களுக்கு முன்பாக இழுக்கிறார்கள்?

But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?

உங்களுக்குத் தரிக்கப்பட்ட நல்ல நாமத்தை அவர்களல்லவோ தூஷிக்கிறார்கள்?

Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?

உன்னிடத்தில் நீ அன்புகூருகிறதுபோலப் பிறனிடத்திலும் அன்புகூருவாயாக என்று வேதவாக்கியம் சொல்லுகிற ராஜரிக பிரமாணத்தை நீங்கள் நிறைவேற்றினால் நன்மைசெய்வீர்கள்.

If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:

பட்சபாதமுள்ளவர்களாயிருப்பீர்களானால், பாவஞ்செய்து, மீறினவர்களென்று நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தால் தீர்க்கப்படுவீர்கள்.

But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.

எப்படியெனில், ஒருவன் நியாயப்பிரமாணம் முழுவதையும் கைக்கொண்டிருந்தும், ஒன்றிலே தவறினால் எல்லாவற்றிலும் குற்றவாளியாயிருப்பான்.

For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

ஏனென்றால், விபசாரஞ்செய்யாதிருப்பாயாக என்று சொன்னவர் கொலை செய்யாதிருப்பாயாக என்றும் சொன்னார்; ஆதலால், நீ விபசாரஞ்செய்யாமலிருந்தும் கொலை செய்தாயானால் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தை மீறினவனாவாய்.

For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.

சுயாதீனப்பிரமாணத்தினால் நியாயத்தீர்ப்படையப்போகிறவர்களாய் அதற்கேற்றபடி பேசி, அதற்கேற்றபடி செய்யுங்கள்.

So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

ஏனென்றால், இரக்கஞ்செய்யாதவனுக்கு இரக்கமில்லாத நியாயத்தீர்ப்புக்கிடைக்கும்; நியாயத்தீர்ப்புக்குமுன்பாக இரக்கம் மேன்மைபாராட்டும்.

For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.

என் சகோதரரே, ஒருவன் தனக்கு விசுவாசமுண்டென்று சொல்லியும், கிரியைகளில்லாதவனானால் அவனுக்குப் பிரயோஜனமென்ன? அந்த விசுவாசம் அவனை இரட்சிக்குமா?

What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

ஒரு சகோதரனாவது சகோதரியாவது வஸ்திரமில்லாமலும் அனுதின ஆகாரமில்லாமலும் இருக்கும்போது,

If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,

உங்களில் ஒருவன் அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் சமாதானத்தோடே போங்கள், குளிர்காய்ந்து பசியாறுங்கள் என்று சொல்லியும், சரீரத்திற்கு வேண்டியவைகளை அவர்களுக்குக் கொடாவிட்டால் பிரயோஜனமென்ன?

And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

அப்படியே விசுவாசமும் கிரியைகளில்லாதிருந்தால் தன்னிலேதானே செத்ததாயிருக்கும்.

Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

ஒருவன்: உனக்கு விசுவாசமுண்டு, எனக்குக் கிரியைகளுண்டு; கிரியைகளில்லாமல் உன் விசுவாசத்தை எனக்குக் காண்பி, நான் என் விசுவாசத்தை என்கிரியைகளினாலே உனக்குக் காண்பிப்பேன் என்பானே.

Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

தேவன் ஒருவர் உண்டென்று விசுவாசிக்கிறாய், அப்படிச் செய்கிறது நல்லதுதான்; பிசாசுகளும் விசுவாசித்து, நடுங்குகின்றன.

Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

வீணான மனுஷனே, கிரியைகளில்லாத விசுவாசம் செத்ததென்று நீ அறியவேண்டுமோ?

But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

நம்முடைய பிதாவாகிய ஆபிரகாம் தன் குமாரன் ஈசாக்கைப் பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் செலுத்தினபோது, கிரியைகளினாலே அல்லவோ நீதிமானாக்கப்பட்டான்?

Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

விசுவாசம் அவனுடைய கிரியைகளோடேகூட முயற்சிசெய்து, கிரியைகளினாலே விசுவாசம் பூரணப்பட்டதென்று காண்கிறாயே.

Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

அப்படியே ஆபிரகாம் தேவனை விசுவாசித்தான், அது அவனுக்கு நீதியாக எண்ணப்பட்டது என்கிற வேதவாக்கியம் நிறைவேறிற்று; அவன் தேவனுடைய சிநேகிதனென்னப்பட்டான்.

And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

ஆதலால், மனுஷன் விசுவாசத்தினாலேமாத்திரமல்ல, கிரியைகளினாலேயும் நீதிமானாக்கப்படுகிறானென்று நீங்கள் காண்கிறீர்களே.

Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

அந்தப்படி ராகாப் என்னும் வேசியும் தூதர்களை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டு வேறுவழியாய் அனுப்பிவிட்டபோது, கிரியைகளினாலே அல்லவோ நீதியுள்ளவளாக்கப்பட்டாள்?

Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?

அப்படியே, ஆவியில்லாத சரீரம் செத்ததாயிருக்கிறதுபோல, கிரியைகளில்லாத விசுவாசமும் செத்ததாயிருக்கிறது.
