யாத்திராகமம் அத்தியாயம் 13

கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி:

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்குள் மனிதரிலும் மிருகஜீவன்களிலும் கர்ப்பந்திறந்து பிறக்கிற முதற்பேறனைத்தையும் எனக்குப் பரிசுத்தப்படுத்து; அது என்னுடையது என்றார்.

Sanctify unto me all the firstborn, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine.

அப்பொழுது மோசே ஜனங்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் அடிமைத்தன வீடாகிய எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்ட இந்த நாளை நினையுங்கள்; கர்த்தர் பலத்த கையினால் உங்களை அவ்விடத்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணினார்; ஆகையால், நீங்கள் புளித்த அப்பம் புசிக்கவேண்டாம்.

And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten.

ஆபிப் மாதத்தின் இந்த நாளிலே நீங்கள் புறப்பட்டீர்கள்.

This day came ye out in the month Abib.

ஆகையால், கர்த்தர் உனக்குக் கொடுப்பேன் என்று உன் பிதாக்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டதும், பாலும் தேனும் ஓடுகிறதுமான தேசமாகிய கானானியர், ஏத்தியர், எமோரியர், ஏவியர், எபூசியர் என்பவர்களுடைய தேசத்துக்கு உன்னை வரப்பண்ணும் காலத்தில், நீ இந்த மாதத்திலே இந்த ஆராதனையைச் செய்வாயாக.

And it shall be when the LORD shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month.

புளிப்பில்லா அப்பத்தை ஏழுநாளளவும் புசிக்கக்கடவாய்; ஏழாம்நாளிலே கர்த்தருக்குப் பண்டிகை ஆசரிக்கப்படுவதாக.

Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to the LORD.

அந்த ஏழுநாளும் புளிப்பில்லா அப்பம் புசிக்கவேண்டும்; புளிப்புள்ள அப்பம் உன்னிடத்திலே காணப்படவேண்டாம்; உன் எல்லைக்குள் எங்கும் புளித்தமாவும் உன்னிடத்தில் காணப்படவேண்டாம்.

Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no leavened bread be seen with thee, neither shall there be leaven seen with thee in all thy quarters.

அந்நாளில் நீ உன் புத்திரனை நோக்கி: நான் எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படுகையில், கர்த்தர் எனக்குச் செய்ததற்காக இப்படி நடப்பிக்கப்படுகிறது என்று சொல்.

And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which the LORD did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt.

கர்த்தரின் நியாயப்பிரமாணம் உன் வாயிலிருக்கும்படிக்கு, இது உன் கையிலே ஒரு அடையாளமாகவும் உன் கண்களின் நடுவே நினைப்பூட்டுதலாகவும் இருக்கக்கடவது; பலத்த கையினால் கர்த்தர் உன்னை எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணினார்;

And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the LORD'S law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the LORD brought thee out of Egypt.

ஆகையால், நீ வருஷந்தோறும் குறித்த காலத்தில் இந்த நியாயத்தை ஆசரித்து வருவாயாக.

Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his season from year to year.

மேலும், கர்த்தர் உனக்கும் உன் பிதாக்களுக்கும் ஆணையிட்டபடியே, உன்னைக் கானானியரின் தேசத்திலே வரப்பண்ணி, அதை உனக்குக் கொடுக்கும்போது,

And it shall be when the LORD shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, as he sware unto thee and to thy fathers, and shall give it thee,

கர்ப்பந்திறந்து பிறக்கும் அனைத்தையும், உனக்கு இருக்கும் மிருகஜீவன்களின் தலையீற்றனைத்தையும், கர்த்தருக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பாயாக; அவைகளிலுள்ள ஆண்கள் கர்த்தருடையவைகள்.

That thou shalt set apart unto the LORD all that openeth the matrix, and every firstling that cometh of a beast which thou hast; the males shall be the LORD'S.

கழுதையின் தலையீற்றையெல்லாம் ஒரு ஆட்டுக்குட்டியால் மீட்டுக்கொள்வாயாக; மீட்காவிட்டால், அதின் கழுத்தை முறித்துப்போடு. உன் பிள்ளைகளில் முதற்பேறான சகல நரஜீவனையும் மீட்டுக்கொள்வாயாக.

And every firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break his neck: and all the firstborn of man among thy children shalt thou redeem.

பிற்காலத்தில் உன் குமாரன்: இது என்ன என்று உன்னைக் கேட்டால்; நீ அவனை நோக்கி: கர்த்தர் எங்களைப் பலத்த கையினால் அடிமைத்தன வீடாகிய எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணினார்.

And it shall be when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand the LORD brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage:

எங்களை விடாதபடிக்கு, பார்வோன் கடினப்பட்டிருக்கும்போது, கர்த்தர் எகிப்து தேசத்தில் மனிதரின் தலைப்பிள்ளைகள்முதல் மிருகஜீவன்களின் தலையீற்றுகள்வரைக்கும் உண்டாயிருந்த முதற்பேறுகள் யாவையும் கொன்றுபோட்டார்; ஆகையால், கர்ப்பந்திறந்து பிறக்கும் ஆணையெல்லாம் நான் கர்த்தருக்குப் பலியிட்டு, என் பிள்ளைகளில் முதற்பேறனைத்தையும் மீட்டுக்கொள்ளுகிறேன்.

And it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the LORD slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to the LORD all that openeth the matrix, being males; but all the firstborn of my children I redeem.

கர்த்தர் எங்களைப் பலத்த கையினால் எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணினதற்கு, இது உன் கையில் அடையாளமாகவும், உன் கண்களின் நடுவே ஞாபகக்குறியாகவும் இருக்கக்கடவது என்று சொல்வாயாக என்றான்.

And it shall be for a token upon thine hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt.

பார்வோன் ஜனங்களைப் போகவிட்டபின்: ஜனங்கள் யுத்தத்தைக் கண்டால் மனமடிந்து, எகிப்துக்குத் திரும்புவார்கள் என்று சொல்லி; பெலிஸ்தரின் தேசவழியாய்ப் போவது சமீபமானாலும், தேவன் அவர்களை அந்த வழியாய் நடத்தாமல்,

And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:

சிவந்த சமுத்திரத்தின் வனாந்தர வழியாய் ஜனங்களைச் சுற்றிப் போகப்பண்ணினார். இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து அணியணியாய்ப் புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள்.

But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.

மோசே தன்னோடேகூட யோசேப்பின் எலும்புகளை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு போனான். தேவன் நிச்சயமாய் உங்களைச் சந்திப்பார்; அப்பொழுது உங்களோடேகூட என் எலும்புகளை இவ்விடத்திலிருந்து கொண்டுபோங்கள் என்று யோசேப்பு சொல்லி, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரை உறுதியாய் ஆணையிடும்படி செய்திருந்தான்.

And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.

அவர்கள் சுக்கோத்திலிருந்து பிரயாணப்பட்டு, வனாந்தரத்தின் ஓரமாய் ஏத்தாமிலே பாளயமிறங்கினார்கள்.

And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.

அவர்கள் இரவும் பகலும் வழிநடக்கக்கூடும்படிக்கு, கர்த்தர் பகலில் அவர்களை வழிநடத்த மேகஸ்தம்பத்திலும், இரவில் அவர்களுக்கு வெளிச்சங்காட்ட அக்கினிஸ்தம்பத்திலும் அவர்களுக்கு முன் சென்றார்.

And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:

பகலிலே மேகஸ்தம்பமும், இரவிலே அக்கினிஸ்தம்பமும் ஜனங்களிடத்திலிருந்து விலகிப்போகவில்லை.

He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.

யாத்திராகமம் அத்தியாயம் 14

கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி:

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

நீங்கள் திரும்பி மிக்தோலுக்கும் சமுத்திரத்துக்கும் நடுவே பாகால்செபோனுக்கு முன்பாக இருக்கிற ஈரோத் பள்ளத்தாக்கின் முன்னடியிலே பாளயமிறங்கவேண்டும் என்று இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்குச் சொல்லு; அதற்கு எதிராகச் சமுத்திரக்கரையிலே பாளயமிறங்குவீர்களாக.

Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baalzephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea.

அப்பொழுது பார்வோன் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரைக்குறித்து: அவர்கள் தேசத்திலே திகைத்துத் திரிகிறார்கள்; வனாந்தரம் அவர்களை அடைத்துப்போட்டது என்று சொல்லுவான்.

For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.

ஆகையால், பார்வோன் அவர்களைப் பின்தொடரும்படிக்கு, நான் அவன் இருதயத்தைக் கடினப்படுத்தி, நானே கர்த்தர் என்பதை எகிப்தியர் அறியும்படி, பார்வோனாலும் அவனுடைய எல்லா ராணுவத்தாலும் மகிமைப்படுவேன் என்றார்; அவர்கள் அப்படியே செய்தார்கள்.

And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did so.

ஜனங்கள் ஓடிப்போய்விட்டார்கள் என்று எகிப்தின் ராஜாவுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது, ஜனங்களுக்கு விரோதமாகப் பார்வோனும் அவன் ஊழியக்காரரும் மனம் வேறுபட்டு: நமக்கு வேலை செய்யாதபடிக்கு நாம் இஸ்ரவேலரைப் போகவிட்டது என்ன காரியம் என்றார்கள்.

And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?

அவன் தன் இரதத்தைப் பூட்டி, தன் ஜனங்களைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு,

And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him:

பிரதானமான அறுநூறு இரதங்களையும், எகிப்திலுள்ள மற்ற சகல இரதங்களையும், அவைகள் எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் அதிபதிகளான வீரரையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு போனான்.

And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them.

கர்த்தர் எகிப்தின் ராஜாவாகிய பார்வோனின் இருதயத்தைக் கடினப்படுத்தினார்; அவன் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரைப் பின்தொடர்ந்தான், இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் பலத்த கையுடன் புறப்பட்டுப் போனார்கள்.

And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand.

எகிப்தியர் பார்வோனுடைய சகல குதிரைகளோடும் இரதங்களோடும் அவனுடைய குதிரைவீரரோடும் சேனைகளோடும் அவர்களைத் தொடர்ந்துபோய், சமுத்திரத்தண்டையிலே பாகால்செபோனுக்கு எதிரே இருக்கிற ஈரோத் பள்ளத்தாக்கின் முன்னடியிலே பாளயமிறங்கியிருக்கிற அவர்களைக் கிட்டினார்கள்.

But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.

பார்வோன் சமீபித்து வருகிறபோது, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் தங்கள் கண்களை ஏறெடுத்துப்பார்த்து, எகிப்தியர் தங்களுக்குப் பின்னே வருகிறதைக் கண்டு, மிகவும் பயந்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தரை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிட்டார்கள்.

And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD.

அன்றியும் அவர்கள் மோசேயை நோக்கி: எகிப்திலே பிரேதக்குழிகள் இல்லையென்றா வனாந்தரத்திலே சாகும்படிக்கு எங்களைக் கொண்டுவந்தீர்? நீர் எங்களை எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணினதினால், எங்களுக்கு இப்படிச் செய்தது என்ன?

And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?

நாங்கள் எகிப்திலே இருக்கும்போது, நாங்கள் எகிப்தியருக்கு வேலை செய்ய எங்களைச் சும்மா விட்டுவிடும் என்று சொன்னோம் அல்லவா? நாங்கள் வனாந்தரத்திலே சாகிறதைப்பார்க்கிலும் எகிப்தியருக்கு வேலைசெய்கிறது எங்களுக்கு நலமாயிருக்குமே என்றார்கள்.

Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.

அப்பொழுது மோசே ஜனங்களை நோக்கி: பயப்படாதிருங்கள்; நீங்கள் நின்றுகொண்டு இன்றைக்குக் கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்குச் செய்யும் இரட்சிப்பைப் பாருங்கள்; இன்றைக்கு நீங்கள் காண்கிற எகிப்தியரை இனி என்றைக்கும் காணமாட்டீர்கள்.

And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்காக யுத்தம்பண்ணுவார்; நீங்கள் சும்மாயிருப்பீர்கள் என்றான்.

The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி: நீ என்னிடத்தில் முறையிடுகிறது என்ன? புறப்பட்டுப் போங்கள் என்று இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்குச் சொல்லு.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:

நீ உன் கோலை ஓங்கி, உன் கையைச் சமுத்திரத்தின்மேல் நீட்டி, சமுத்திரத்தைப் பிளந்துவிடு; அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் சமுத்திரத்தின் நடுவாக வெட்டாந்தரையிலே நடந்துபோவார்கள்.

But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

எகிப்தியர் உங்களைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து வரும்படி நான் அவர்கள் இருதயத்தைக் கடினப்படுத்தி பார்வோனாலும் அவன் இரதங்கள் குதிரைவீரர் முதலாகிய அவனுடைய எல்லா இராணுவத்தாலும் மகிமைப்படுவேன்.

And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.

இப்படி நான் பார்வோனாலும் அவன் இரதங்களாலும் அவன் குதிரைவீரராலும் மகிமைப்படும்போது, நானே கர்த்தர் என்பதை எகிப்தியர் அறிவார்கள் என்றார்.

And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.

அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலரின் சேனைக்கு முன்னாக நடந்த தேவதூதனானவர் விலகி, அவர்களுக்குப் பின்னாக நடந்தார்; அவர்களுக்கு முன் இருந்த மேகஸ்தம்பமும் விலகி, அவர்கள் பின்னே நின்றது.

And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:

அது எகிப்தியரின் சேனையும் இஸ்ரவேலரின் சேனையும் இராமுழுவதும் ஒன்றோடொன்று சேராதபடி அவைகள் நடுவில் வந்தது; எகிப்தியருக்கு அது மேகமும் அந்தகாரமுமாய் இருந்தது, இஸ்ரவேலருக்கோ அது இரவை வெளிச்சமாக்கிற்று.

And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.

மோசே தன் கையைச் சமுத்திரத்தின்மேல் நீட்டினான்; அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் இராமுழுவதும் பலத்த கீழ்காற்றினால் சமுத்திரம் ஒதுங்கும்படி செய்து, அதை வறண்டுபோகப்பண்ணினார்; ஜலம் பிளந்து பிரிந்துபோயிற்று.

And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.

இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் சமுத்திரத்தின் நடுவாக வெட்டாந்தரையிலே நடந்துபோனார்கள்; அவர்கள் வலதுபுறத்திலும் அவர்கள் இடதுபுறத்திலும் ஜலம் அவர்களுக்கு மதிலாக நின்றது.

And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

அப்பொழுது எகிப்தியர் அவர்களைத் தொடர்ந்து, பார்வோனுடைய சகல குதிரைகளோடும் இரதங்களோடும் குதிரைவீரரோடும் அவர்கள் பிறகாலே சமுத்திரத்தின் நடுவே பிரவேசித்தார்கள்.

And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.

கிழக்கு வெளுத்துவரும் ஜாமத்தில் கர்த்தர் அக்கினியும் மேகமுமான ஸ்தம்பத்திலிருந்து எகிப்தியரின் சேனையைப் பார்த்து, அவர்கள் சேனையைக் கலங்கடித்து,

And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,

அவர்களுடைய இரதங்களிலிருந்து உருளைகள் கழலவும், அவர்கள் தங்கள் இரதங்களை வருத்தத்தோடே நடத்தவும் பண்ணினார்; அப்பொழுது எகிப்தியர்: இஸ்ரவேலரைவிட்டு ஓடிப்போவோம், கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்குத் துணைநின்று எகிப்தியருக்கு விரோதமாய் யுத்தம்பண்ணுகிறார் என்றார்கள்.

And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians.

கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி: ஜலம் எகிப்தியர்மேலும் அவர்களுடைய இரதங்கள்மேலும் அவர்களுடைய குதிரைவீரர்மேலும் திரும்பும்படிக்கு, உன் கையைச் சமுத்திரத்தின்மேல் நீட்டு என்றார்.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.

அப்படியே மோசே தன் கையைச் சமுத்திரத்தின்மேல் நீட்டினான்; விடியற்காலத்தில் சமுத்திரம் பலமாய்த் திரும்பி வந்தது; எகிப்தியர் அதற்கு எதிராக ஓடும்போது, கர்த்தர் அவர்களைக் கடலின் நடுவே கவிழ்த்துப்போட்டார்.

And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.

ஜலம் திரும்பிவந்து, இரதங்களையும் குதிரைவீரரையும், அவர்கள் பின்னாக சமுத்திரத்தில் பிரவேசித்திருந்த பார்வோனுடைய இராணுவம் அனைத்தையும் மூடிக்கொண்டது; அவர்களில் ஒருவனாகிலும் தப்பவில்லை.

And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.

இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரோ சமுத்திரத்தின் நடுவாக வெட்டாந்தரையின் வழியாய் நடந்துபோனார்கள்; அவர்கள் வலதுபுறத்திலும் அவர்கள் இடதுபுறத்திலும் ஜலம் அவர்களுக்கு மதிலாக நின்றது.

But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

இவ்விதமாய்க் கர்த்தர் அந்நாளிலே இஸ்ரவேலரை எகிப்தியரின் கைக்குத் தப்புவித்து ரட்சித்தார்; கடற்கரையிலே எகிப்தியர் செத்துக்கிடக்கிறதை இஸ்ரவேலர் கண்டார்கள்.

Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.

கர்த்தர் எகிப்தியரில் செய்த அந்த மகத்தான கிரியையை இஸ்ரவேலர் கண்டார்கள்; அப்பொழுது ஜனங்கள் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்து, கர்த்தரிடத்திலும் அவருடைய ஊழியக்காரனாகிய மோசேயினிடத்திலும் விசுவாசம் வைத்தார்கள்.

And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.

அவர் அவ்விடம் விட்டுப் புறப்பட்டு, தாம் வளர்ந்த ஊருக்கு வந்தார்; அவருடைய சீஷரும் அவரோடேகூட வந்தார்கள்.

And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.

ஓய்வுநாளானபோது, ஜெபஆலயத்தில் உபதேசம்பண்ணத்தொடங்கினார். அநேகர் கேட்டு, ஆச்சரியப்பட்டு, இவைகள் இவனுக்கு எங்கேயிருந்து வந்தது? இவன் கைகளினால் இப்படிப்பட்ட பலத்த செய்கைகள் நடக்கும்படி இவனுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்பட்ட ஞானம் எப்படிப்பட்டது?

And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?

இவன் தச்சன் அல்லவா? மரியாளுடைய குமாரன் அல்லவா? யாக்கோபு, யோசே, யூதா, சீமோன் என்பவர்களுக்கு சகோதரன் அல்லவா? இவன் சகோதரிகளும் இங்கே நம்மிடத்தில் இருக்கிறார்கள் அல்லவா? என்று சொல்லி, அவரைக்குறித்து இடறலடைந்தார்கள்.

Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

இயேசு அவர்களை நோக்கி: தீர்க்கதரிசி ஒருவன் தன் ஊரிலும் தன் இனத்திலும் தன் வீட்டிலுமேயன்றி வேறெங்கும் கனவீனமடையான் என்றார்.

But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.

அங்கே அவர் சில நோயாளிகள்மேல் கைகளை வைத்து, அவர்களைக் குணமாக்கினதேயன்றி, வேறொரு அற்புதமும் செய்யக்கூடாமல்,

And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.

அவர்களுடைய அவிசுவாசத்தைக்குறித்து ஆச்சரியப்பட்டு, கிராமங்களிலே சுற்றித்திரிந்து, உபதேசம் பண்ணினார்.

And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

அவர் பன்னிருவரையும் அழைத்து, அசுத்த ஆவிகளைத் துரத்த அவர்களுக்கு அதிகாரங்கொடுத்து,

And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;

வழிக்குப் பையையாகிலும், அப்பத்தையாகிலும், கச்சையில் காசையாகிலும், எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோகாமல், ஒரு தடியைமாத்திரம் எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோகவும்;

And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:

பாதரட்சைகளைப் போட்டுக்கொண்டுபோகவும், இரண்டு அங்கிகளைத் தரியாதிருக்கவும் கட்டளையிட்டார்.

But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.

பின்பு அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் எங்கேயாகிலும் ஒரு வீட்டில் பிரவேசித்தால் அவ்விடத்தை விட்டுப் புறப்படுகிறவரைக்கும் அங்கேதானே தங்கியிருங்கள்.

And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place.

எவர்களாகிலும் உங்களை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளாமலும், உங்கள் வசனங்களைக்கேளாமலும் இருந்தால், நீங்கள் அவ்விடம் விட்டுப் புறப்படும்போது, அவர்களுக்குச் சாட்சியாக உங்கள் கால்களின் கீழே படிந்த தூசியை உதறிப்போடுங்கள். நியாயத்தீர்ப்புநாளிலே அந்தப் பட்டணத்திற்கு நேரிடுவதைப்பார்க்கிலும் சோதோம் கொமோரா பட்டணத்திற்கு நேரிடுவது இலகுவாயிருக்கும் என்று மெய்யாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்று சொல்லி, அவர்களை இரண்டு இரண்டுபேராக அனுப்பினார்.

And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

அவர்கள் புறப்பட்டுப்போய்: மனந்திரும்புங்கள் என்று பிரசங்கித்து;

And they went out, and preached that men should repent.

அநேகம் பிசாசுகளைத் துரத்தி, அநேகம் நோயாளிகளை எண்ணெய் பூசிச் சொஸ்தமாக்கினார்கள்.

And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.

அவருடைய பேர் பிரசித்தமானபடியினால், ஏரோதுராஜா அவரைக்குறித்துக் கேள்விப்பட்டு: யோவான்ஸ்நானன் மரித்தோரிலிருந்து எழுந்தான், ஆகையால் அவனிடத்தில் இந்தப் பலத்தசெய்கைகள் விளங்குகிறது என்றான்.

And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.

சிலர்: அவர் எலியா என்றார்கள். வேறு சிலர்: அவர், ஒரு தீர்க்கதரிசி, அல்லது தீர்க்கதரிசிகளில் ஒருவனைப்போலிருக்கிறாரென்று சொன்னார்கள்.

Others said, That it is Elias. And others said, That it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets.

ஏரோது அதைக் கேட்டபொழுது: அவன் நான் சிரச்சேதம்பண்ணின யோவான்தான்; அவன் மரித்தோரிலிருந்து எழுந்தான் என்றான்.

But when Herod heard thereof, he said, It is John, whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead.

ஏரோது தன் சகோதரனாகிய பிலிப்புவின் மனைவி ஏரோதியாளைத் தனக்கு மனைவியாக்கிக்கொண்டபோது,

For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife: for he had married her.

யோவான் ஏரோதை நோக்கி: நீர் உம்முடைய சகோதரன் மனைவியை வைத்துக்கொள்ளுவது நியாயமல்லவென்று சொன்னதினிமித்தம், ஏரோது சேவகரை அனுப்பி, யோவானைப் பிடித்துக் கட்டிக்காவலில் வைத்திருந்தான்.

For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife.

ஏரோதியாளும் அவனுக்குச் சதி நினைத்து, அவனைக் கொன்றுபோட மனதாயிருந்தாள்; ஆகிலும் அவளால் கூடாமற்போயிற்று.

Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not:

அதேனென்றால் யோவான் நீதியும் பரிசுத்தமுமுள்ளவனென்று ஏரோது அறிந்து, அவனுக்குப் பயந்து, அவனைப் பாதுகாத்து, அவன் யோசனையின்படி அநேக காரியங்களைச் செய்து, விருப்பத்தோடே அவன் சொல்லைக் கேட்டுவந்தான்.

For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.

பின்பு சமயம் வாய்த்தது; எப்படியென்றால், ஏரோது தன் ஜென்மநாளிலே தன்னுடைய பிரபுக்களுக்கும், சேனாதிபதிகளுக்கும், கலிலேயா நாட்டின் பிரதான மனுஷருக்கும் ஒரு விருந்து பண்ணினபோது,

And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee;

ஏரோதியாளின் குமாரத்தி சபை நடுவே வந்து நடனம்பண்ணி, ஏரோதுவையும் அவனோடேகூடப் பந்தியிருந்தவர்களையும் சந்தோஷப்படுத்தினாள், அப்பொழுது, ராஜா சிறுபெண்ணை நோக்கி: உனக்கு வேண்டியதை என்னிடத்தில் கேள், அதை உனக்குத் தருவேன் என்று சொன்னதுமல்லாமல்;

And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee.

நீ என்னிடத்தில் எதைக் கேட்டாலும், அது என் ராஜ்யத்தில் பாதியானாலும், அதை உனக்குத் தருவேன் என்று அவளுக்கு ஆணையும் இட்டான்.

And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom.

அப்பொழுது, அவள் வெளியேபோய், நான் என்ன கேட்கவேண்டும் என்று தன் தாயினிடத்தில் கேட்டாள். அதற்கு அவள்: யோவான்ஸ்நானனுடைய தலையைக் கேள் என்றாள்.

And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist.

உடனே அவள் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் சீக்கிரமாய் வந்து: நீர் இப்பொழுதே ஒரு தாலத்தில் யோவான்ஸ்நானனுடைய தலையை எனக்குத் தரவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டாள்.

And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist.

அப்பொழுது ராஜா மிகுந்த துக்கமடைந்தான்; ஆகிலும், ஆணையினிமித்தமும், கூடப்பந்தியிருந்தவர்களினிமித்தமும், அவளுக்கு அதை மறுக்கமனதில்லாமல்;

And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her.

உடனே அவனுடைய தலையைக் கொண்டுவரும்படி சேவகனுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டு அனுப்பினான்.

And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison,

அந்தப்படி அவன் போய், காவற்கூடத்திலே அவனைச் சிரச்சேதம்பண்ணி, அவன் தலையை ஒரு தாலத்திலே கொண்டுவந்து, அதை அந்தச் சிறு பெண்ணுக்குக் கொடுத்தான்; அந்தச் சிறுபெண் அதைத் தன் தாயினிடத்தில் கொடுத்தாள்.

And brought his head in a charger, and gave it to the damsel: and the damsel gave it to her mother.

அவனுடைய சீஷர்கள் அதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டு வந்து, அவன் உடலை எடுத்து, ஒரு கல்லறையில் வைத்தார்கள்.

And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb.

அப்பொழுது அப்போஸ்தலர் இயேசுவினிடத்தில் கூடிவந்து, தாங்கள் செய்தவைகள் உபதேசித்தவைகள் யாவையும் அவருக்கு அறிவித்தார்கள்.

And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.

அவர் அவர்களை நோக்கி: வனாந்தரமான ஓரிடத்தில் தனித்து சற்றே இளைப்பாறும்படி போவோம் வாருங்கள் என்றார்; ஏனெனில், வருகிறவர்களும் போகிறவர்களும் அநேகராயிருந்தபடியினால் போஜனம் பண்ணுகிறதற்கும் அவர்களுக்குச் சமயமில்லாதிருந்தது.

And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.

அப்படியே அவர்கள் தனிமையாய் ஒரு படவில் ஏறி வனாந்தரமான ஓர் இடத்திற்குப் போனார்கள்.

And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.

அவர்கள் புறப்பட்டுப் போகிறதை ஜனங்கள் கண்டார்கள். அவரை அறிந்த அநேகர் சகல பட்டணங்களிலுமிருந்து கால்நடையாய் அவ்விடத்திற்கு ஓடி, அவர்களுக்கு முன்னே அங்கே சேர்ந்து, அவரிடத்தில் கூடிவந்தார்கள்.

And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran afoot thither out of all cities, and outwent them, and came together unto him.

இயேசு கரையில் வந்து, அநேக ஜனங்களைக் கண்டு, அவர்கள் மேய்ப்பனில்லாத ஆடுகளைப் போலிருந்தபடியால், அவர்கள்மேல் மனதுருகி, அநேக காரியங்களை அவர்களுக்கு உபதேசிக்கத் தொடங்கினார்.

And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.

வெகுநேரம் சென்றபின்பு, அவருடைய சீஷர்கள் அவரிடத்தில் வந்து: இது வனாந்தரமான இடம், வெகுநேரமுமாயிற்று;

And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed:

புசிக்கிறதற்கும் இவர்களிடத்திலே ஒன்றுமில்லை; ஆகையால் இவர்கள் சுற்றியிருக்கிற கிராமங்களுக்கும் ஊர்களுக்கும் போய், தங்களுக்காக அப்பங்களை வாங்கிக்கொள்ளும்படி இவர்களை அனுப்பிவிடவேண்டும் என்றார்கள்.

Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat.

அவர் அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்களே அவர்களுக்குப் போஜனங்கொடுங்கள் என்றார். அதற்கு அவர்கள்: நாங்கள் போய், இருநூறு பணத்துக்கு அப்பங்களை வாங்கி இவர்களுக்குப் புசிக்கும்படி கொடுக்கக்கூடுமோ என்றார்கள்.

He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?

அதற்கு அவர்: உங்களிடத்தில் எத்தனை அப்பங்களுண்டு, போய்ப்பாருங்கள் என்றார். அவர்கள் பார்த்துவந்து: ஐந்து அப்பங்களும், இரண்டு மீன்களும் உண்டு என்றார்கள்.

He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes.

அப்பொழுது எல்லாரையும் பசும்புல்லின்மேல் பந்திபந்தியாக உட்காரவைக்கும்படி அவர்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டார்.

And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass.

அப்படியே வரிசை வரிசையாய், நூறுநூறுபேராகவும் ஐம்பதைம்பதுபேராகவும் உட்கார்ந்தார்கள்.

And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties.

அவர் அந்த ஐந்து அப்பங்களையும், அந்த இரண்டு மீன்களையும் எடுத்து, வானத்தை அண்ணாந்துபார்த்து, ஆசீர்வதித்து, அப்பங்களைப்பிட்டு, அவர்களுக்குப் பரிமாறும்படி தம்முடைய சீஷர்களிடத்தில் கொடுத்தார். அப்படியே இரண்டு மீன்களையும் எல்லாருக்கும் பங்கிட்டார்.

And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all.

எல்லாரும் சாப்பிட்டுத் திருப்தியடைந்தார்கள்.

And they did all eat, and were filled.

மேலும் அப்பங்களிலும் மீன்களிலும் மீதியான துணிக்கைகளைப் பன்னிரண்டு கூடைநிறைய எடுத்தார்கள்.

And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes.

அப்பம் சாப்பிட்ட புருஷர் ஏறக்குறைய ஐயாயிரம்பேராயிருந்தார்கள்.

And they that did eat of the loaves were about five thousand men.

அவர் ஜனங்களை அனுப்பிவிடுகையில், தம்முடைய சீஷர்கள் படவில் ஏறி அக்கரையில் பெத்சாயிதாவுக்கு எதிராக, தமக்கு முன்னே போகும்படி, அவர்களைத் துரிதப்படுத்தினார்.

And straightway he constrained his disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people.

அவர் ஜனங்களை அனுப்பிவிட்டபின்பு, ஜெபம்பண்ணும்படி ஒரு மலையின்மேல் ஏறினார்.

And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray.

சாயங்காலமானபோது படவு நடுக்கடலிலிருந்தது; அவரோ கரையிலே தனிமையாயிருந்தார்.

And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land.

அப்பொழுது காற்று அவர்களுக்கு எதிராயிருந்தபடியினால், அவர்கள் தண்டு வலிக்கிறதில் வருத்தப்படுகிறதை அவர்கண்டு, இராத்திரியில் நாலாம் ஜாமத்தில் கடலின்மேல் நடந்து அவர்களிடத்தில் வந்து, அவர்களைக் கடந்துபோகிறவர்போல் காணப்பட்டார்.

And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them.

அவர் கடலின்மேல் நடக்கிறதை அவர்கள் கண்டு, ஆவேசம் என்று எண்ணி, சத்தமிட்டு அலறினார்கள்.

But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out:

அவர்களெல்லாரும் அவரைக் கண்டு கலக்கமடைந்தார்கள். உடனே அவர் அவர்களோடே பேசி: திடன்கொள்ளுங்கள், நான்தான், பயப்படாதிருங்கள் என்று சொல்லி.

For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.

அவர்கள் இருந்த படவில் ஏறினார். அப்பொழுது காற்று அமர்ந்தது; அதினால் அவர்கள் தங்களுக்குள்ளே மிகவும் பிரமித்து ஆச்சரியப்பட்டார்கள்.

And he went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.

அவர்களுடைய இருதயம் கடினமுள்ளதாயிருந்தபடியினால் அப்பங்களைக்குறித்து அவர்கள் உணராமற்போனார்கள்.

For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.

அவர்கள் கடலைக் கடந்து கெனேசரேத்தென்னும் நாட்டிற்கு வந்து, கரைபிடித்தார்கள்.

And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore.

அவர்கள் படவிலிருந்து இறங்கினவுடனே, ஜனங்கள் அவரை அறிந்து,

And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him,

அந்தச் சுற்றுபுறமெங்கும் ஓடித்திரிந்து, பிணியாளிகளைப் படுக்கைகளில் கிடத்தி, அவர் வந்திருக்கிறாரென்று கேள்விப்பட்ட இடங்களிலெல்லாம் சுமந்து கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்;

And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.

அல்லாமலும் அவர் பிரவேசித்த கிராமங்கள் பட்டணங்கள் நாடுகள் எவைகளோ, அவைகளின் சந்தைவெளிகளிலே வியாதிக்காரரை வைத்து, அவருடைய வஸ்திரத்தின் ஓரத்தையாகிலும் அவர்கள் தொடும்படி உத்தரவாகவேண்டும் என்று அவரை வேண்டிக்கொண்டார்கள்; அவரைத் தொட்ட யாவரும் சொஸ்தமானார்கள்.

And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.
