எரேமியா அத்தியாயம் 9

ஆ, என் தலை தண்ணீரும், என் கண்கள் கண்ணீரூற்றுமானால் நலமாயிருக்கும்; அப்பொழுது என் ஜனமாகிய குமாரத்தி கொலையுண்ணக் கொடுத்தவர்கள் நிமித்தம் நான் இரவும்பகலும் அழுவேன்.

Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!

ஆ, வனாந்தரத்தில் வழிப்போக்கரின் தாபரம் எனக்கு இருந்தால் நலமாயிருக்கும்; அப்பொழுது நான் என் ஜனத்தைவிட்டு, அவர்களிடத்தில் இராதபடிக்குப் போய்விடுவேன்; அவர்களெல்லாரும் விபசாரரும் துரோகிகளின் கூட்டமுமாயிருக்கிறார்கள்.

Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.

அவர்கள் பொய்யைப் பிரயோகிக்கத் தங்கள் நாவாகிய வில்லை வளைக்கிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் இந்தத் தேசத்திலே பலத்துக்கொள்வது சத்தியத்துக்காக அல்ல; பொல்லாப்பிலிருந்து பொல்லாப்புக்கு நடந்தேறுகிறார்கள்; என்னையோ அறியாதிருக்கிறார்கள் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the LORD.

நீங்கள் அவனவன் தன்தன் சிநேகிதனுக்கு எச்சரிக்கையாயிருங்கள், எந்தச் சகோதரனையும் நம்பாதிருங்கள்; எந்தச் சகோதரனும் மோசம்பண்ணுகிறான், எந்தச் சிநேகிதனும் தூற்றித்திரிகிறான்.

Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders.

அவர்கள் மெய்யைப் பேசாமல் ஒவ்வொருவரும் தமக்கடுத்தவனை ஏய்க்கிறார்கள்; பொய்யைப்பேசத் தங்கள் நாவைப் பழக்குகிறார்கள், அக்கிரமஞ்செய்ய உழைக்கிறார்கள்.

And they will deceive every one his neighbour, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity.

கபடத்தின் நடுவிலே குடியிருக்கிறாய்; கபடத்தினிமித்தம் அவர்கள் என்னை அறியமாட்டோமென்கிறார்கள் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith the LORD.

ஆகையால், இதோ, நான் அவர்களை உருக்கி, அவர்களைப் புடமிடுவேன் என்று சேனைகளின் கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்; என் ஜனமாகிய குமாரத்தியை வேறெந்தப்பிரகாரமாக நடத்துவேன்?

Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how shall I do for the daughter of my people?

அவர்கள் நாவு கூர்மையாக்கப்பட்ட அம்பு, அது கபடம் பேசுகிறது; அவனவன் தன்தன் அயலானோடே தன்தன் வாயினாலே சமாதானமாய்ப் பேசுகிறான், ஆனாலும் தன் உள்ளத்திலே அவனுக்குப் பதிவிடை வைக்கிறான்.

Their tongue is as an arrow shot out; it speaketh deceit: one speaketh peaceably to his neighbour with his mouth, but in heart he layeth his wait.

இவைகளினிமித்தம் அவர்களை விசாரியாதிருப்பேனோ? இப்படிப்பட்ட ஜாதிக்கு என் ஆத்துமா நீதியைச் சரிக்கட்டாதிருக்குமோ என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

Shall I not visit them for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

மலைகளுக்காக அழுது துக்கங்கொண்டாடுவேன்; வனாந்தரத் தாபரங்களுக்காகப் புலம்புவேன்; ஒருவனும் அவைகளைக் கடந்துபோகாதவண்ணமாய் அவைகள் பாழாக்கப்பட்டுக் கிடக்கின்றன; ஆடுமாடுகளின் சத்தம் கேட்கப்படுகிறதுமில்லை; ஆகாசத்துப் பறவைகளும் மிருகஜீவன்களும் எல்லாம் ஓடிச் சிதறிப்போயின.

For the mountains will I take up a weeping and wailing, and for the habitations of the wilderness a lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none can pass through them; neither can men hear the voice of the cattle; both the fowl of the heavens and the beast are fled; they are gone.

நான் எருசலேமை மண்மேடுகளும் வலுசர்ப்பங்களின் தாபரமுமாக்குவேன்; யூதாவின் பட்டணங்களையும் குடியில்லாதபடி பாழாக்கிப்போடுவேன்.

And I will make Jerusalem heaps, and a den of dragons; and I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.

இதை உணரத்தக்க ஞானமுள்ளவன் யார்? தேசம் அழிந்து, ஒருவனும் கடந்து போகாதபடி அது பாழாக்கப்படுகிற முகாந்தரமென்னவென்று கர்த்தருடைய வாய் தன்னுடனே சொல்லுகிறதைக் கேட்டு அறிவிக்கத்தக்கவன் யார்?

Who is the wise man, that may understand this? and who is he to whom the mouth of the LORD hath spoken, that he may declare it, for what the land perisheth and is burned up like a wilderness, that none passeth through?

நான் அவரவருக்கு விதித்த என் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தை அவர்கள் விட்டு, என் சொல்லைக் கேளாமலும், அதின்படி நடவாமலும்,

And the LORD saith, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein;

தங்களுடைய இருதயத்தின் கடினத்தையும், தங்கள் பிதாக்கள் தங்களுக்குக் கற்றுக்கொடுத்தபடி பாகால்களையும் பின்தொடர்ந்தார்களே என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

But have walked after the imagination of their own heart, and after Baalim, which their fathers taught them:

ஆதலால், இதோ, நான் இந்த ஜனத்துக்குப் புசிக்க எட்டியையும், குடிக்கப் பிச்சுக்கலந்த தண்ணீரையும் கொடுத்து,

Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.

அவர்களும், அவர்கள் பிதாக்களும் அறியாத புறஜாதிகளுக்குள்ளே அவர்களைச் சிதறடித்து, பட்டயம் அவர்களை நிர்மூலமாக்குமட்டும் அதை அவர்களுக்குப் பின்னாக அனுப்புவேன் என்று இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய சேனைகளின் கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

I will scatter them also among the heathen, whom neither they nor their fathers have known: and I will send a sword after them, till I have consumed them.

நீங்கள் யோசனைபண்ணி, புலம்பற்காரிகளை வரவழைத்து, அதிலே பழகின ஸ்திரீகளைக் கூப்பிடுங்களென்று சேனைகளின் கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Consider ye, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for cunning women, that they may come:

அவர்கள் சீக்கிரமாய் வந்து, நம்முடைய கண்கள் கண்ணீராய்ச் சொரியத்தக்கதாகவும், நம்முடைய இமைகள் தண்ணீராய் ஓடத்தக்கதாகவும், ஒப்பாரி சொல்லக்கடவர்கள்.

And let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.

எத்தனையாய்ப் பாழாக்கப்பட்டோம்! மிகவும் கலங்கியிருக்கிறோம்; நாங்கள் தேசத்தை விட்டுப்போகிறோம், எங்கள் வாசஸ்தலங்களை அவர்கள் கவிழ்த்துப்போட்டார்கள் என்று சீயோனிலிருந்து உண்டாகிற புலம்பலின் சத்தம் கேட்கப்படும்.

For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we spoiled! we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because our dwellings have cast us out.

ஆதலால் ஸ்திரீகளே, கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையைக் கேளுங்கள்; உங்கள் செவி அவருடைய வாயின் வசனத்தை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளட்டும்; நீங்கள் உங்கள் குமாரத்திகளுக்கு ஒப்பாரியையும், அவளவள் தன்தன் தோழிக்குப் புலம்பலையும் கற்றுக்கொடுங்கள்.

Yet hear the word of the LORD, O ye women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth, and teach your daughters wailing, and every one her neighbour lamentation.

வீதியிலிருக்கிற குழந்தைகளையும், தெருக்களிலிருக்கிற இளைஞரையும் சங்காரம்பண்ணச் சாவு நம்முடைய பலகணிகளிலேறி, நம்முடைய அரமனைகளில் பிரவேசித்தது.

For death is come up into our windows, and is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, and the young men from the streets.

மனுஷரின் சவங்கள் வயல்வெளியின்மேல் எருவைப்போலவும், அறுக்கிறவனுக்குப் பின்னாலே ஒருவனும் வாரிக்கொள்ளாதிருக்கிற அரியைப்போலவும் கிடக்கும் என்று கர்த்தர் உரைத்தாரென்று சொல்.

Speak, Thus saith the LORD, Even the carcases of men shall fall as dung upon the open field, and as the handful after the harvestman, and none shall gather them.

ஞானி தன் ஞானத்தைக்குறித்து மேன்மைபாராட்டவேண்டாம்; பராக்கிரமன் தன் பராக்கிரமத்தைக்குறித்து மேன்மைபாராட்டவேண்டாம்; ஐசுவரியவான் தன் ஐசுவரியத்தைக்குறித்து மேன்மைபாராட்டவேண்டாம்;

Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:

மேன்மைபாராட்டுகிறவன் பூமியிலே கிருபையையும், நியாயத்தையும் நீதியையும் செய்கிற கர்த்தர் நான் என்று என்னை அறிந்து உணர்ந்திருக்கிறதைக்குறித்தே மேன்மைபாராட்டக்கடவன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்; இவைகளின்மேல் பிரியமாயிருக்கிறேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

இதோ, நாட்கள் வரும்; அப்பொழுது விருத்தசேதனமில்லாதவர்களோடுங்கூட விருத்தசேதனமுள்ள யாவரையும்,

Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will punish all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised;

எகிப்தையும், யூதாவையும், ஏதோமையும், அம்மோன் புத்திரரையும், மோவாபையும், கடைசி எல்லைகளிலுள்ள வனாந்தரக்குடிகளான யாவரையும் தண்டிப்பேன்; புறஜாதியார் அனைவரும் விருத்தசேதனமில்லாதவர்கள்; ஆனாலும், இஸ்ரவேல் வம்சத்தார் அனைவரும் இருதயத்திலே விருத்தசேதனமில்லாதவர்கள் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all that are in the utmost corners, that dwell in the wilderness: for all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart.

எரேமியா அத்தியாயம் 10

இஸ்ரவேல் வீட்டாரே, கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிற வசனத்தைக் கேளுங்கள்:

Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:

புறஜாதிகளுடைய மார்க்கத்தைக் கற்றுக்கொள்ளாதிருங்கள்; வானத்தின் அடையாளங்களாலே புறஜாதிகள் கலங்குகிறார்களே என்று சொல்லி, நீங்கள் அவைகளாலே கலங்காதிருங்கள்.

Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.

ஜனங்களின் வழிபாடுகள் வீணாயிருக்கிறது; காட்டில் ஒரு மரத்தை வெட்டுகிறார்கள்; அது தச்சன் கையாடுகிற வாச்சியால் பணிப்படும்.

For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.

வெள்ளியினாலும் பொன்னினாலும் அதை அலங்கரித்து, அது அசையாதபடிக்கு அதை ஆணிகளாலும் சுத்திகளாலும் உறுதியாக்குகிறார்கள்.

They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

அவைகள் பனையைப்போல நெட்டையாய் நிற்கிறது, அவைகள் பேசமாட்டாதவைகள், அவைகள் நடக்கமாட்டாததினால் சுமக்கப்படவேண்டும்; அவைகளுக்குப் பயப்படவேண்டாம்; அவைகள் தீமை செய்யக்கூடாது, நன்மை செய்யவும் அவைகளுக்குச் சக்தி இல்லையென்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.

கர்த்தாவே, உமக்கு ஒப்பானவன் இல்லை; நீரே பெரியவர்; உமது நாமமே வல்லமையில் பெரியது.

Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might.

ஜாதிகளின் ராஜாவே, உமக்குப் பயப்படாதிருப்பவன் யார்? தேவரீருக்கே பயப்படவேண்டியது; ஜாதிகளுடைய எல்லா ஞானிகளிலும், அவர்களுடைய எல்லா ராஜ்யத்திலும் உமக்கு ஒப்பானவன் இல்லை.

Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee.

அவர்கள் யாவரும் மிருககுணமும் மதியீனமுமுள்ளவர்கள்; அந்தக் கட்டை மாயையான போதகமாயிருக்கிறது.

But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities.

தகடாக்கப்பட்ட வெள்ளி தர்ஷீசிலும், பொன் ஊப்பாசிலுமிருந்து கொண்டுவரப்பட்டு, அவைகள் தொழிலாளியினாலும், தட்டான் கைகளினாலும் செய்யப்படுகிறது; இளநீலமும் இரத்தாம்பரமும் அவைகளின் உடுமானம்; அவைகளெல்லாம் தொழிலாளிகளின் கைவேலையாயிருக்கிறது.

Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men.

கர்த்தரோ மெய்யான தெய்வம்; அவர் ஜீவனுள்ள தேவன், நித்திய ராஜா; அவருடைய கோபத்தினால் பூமி அதிரும்; அவருடைய உக்கிரத்தை ஜாதிகள் சகிக்கமாட்டார்கள்.

But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.

வானத்தையும் பூமியையும் உண்டாக்காத தெய்வங்கள், பூமியிலும் இந்த வானத்தின்கீழும் இராதபடிக்கு அழிந்துபோகும் என்பதை அவர்களுக்குச் சொல்லுங்கள்.

Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.

அவரே பூமியைத் தம்முடைய வல்லமையினால் உண்டாக்கி, பூச்சக்கரத்தைத் தம்முடைய ஞானத்தினால் படைத்து, வானத்தைத் தம்முடைய அறிவினால் விரித்தார்.

He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion.

அவர் சத்தமிடுகையில் வானத்திலே திரளான தண்ணீர் உண்டாகிறது; அவர் பூமியின் கடையாந்தரத்திலிருந்து மேகங்களை எழும்பப்பண்ணி, மழையுடனே மின்னல்களை உண்டாக்கி, காற்றைத் தமது பண்டகசாலைகளிலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணுகிறார்.

When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.

மனுஷர் அனைவரும் அறிவில்லாமல் மிருககுணமுள்ளவர்களானார்கள்; தட்டார் அனைவரும் வார்ப்பித்த சுரூபங்களாலே வெட்கிப்போகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் வார்ப்பித்த விக்கிரகம் பொய்யே, அவைகளில் ஆவி இல்லை.

Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.

அவைகள் மாயையும், மகா எத்தான கிரியையுமாயிருக்கிறது; அவைகள் விசாரிக்கப்படும் நாளிலே அழியும்.

They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.

யாக்கோபின் பங்காயிருக்கிறவர் அவைகளைப்போல் அல்ல, அவர் சர்வத்தையும் உருவாக்கினவர்; இஸ்ரவேல் அவருடைய சுதந்தரமான கோத்திரம்; சேனைகளின் கர்த்தர் என்பது அவருடைய நாமம்.

The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: The LORD of hosts is his name.

அரணில் குடியிருக்கிறவளே, தேசத்திலிருந்து உன் பொருள்களைச் சேர்த்துக்கொள்.

Gather up thy wares out of the land, O inhabitant of the fortress.

இதோ, நான் இந்த முறை தேசத்தின் குடிகளைக் கவண்கொண்டெறிந்து, அவர்கள் கண்டு உணரும்படி அவர்களுக்கு நெருக்கமுண்டாக்குவேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will sling out the inhabitants of the land at this once, and will distress them, that they may find it so.

ஐயோ! நான் நொறுக்கப்பட்டேன்; என் காயம் கொடிதாயிருக்கிறது; ஆனாலும் இது நான் சகிக்கவேண்டிய என் நோய் என்று நான் சொல்லுவேன்.

Woe is me for my hurt! my wound is grievous: but I said, Truly this is a grief, and I must bear it.

என் கூடாரம் அழிந்துபோயிற்று, என் கயிறுகளெல்லாம் அறுப்புண்டுபோயின; என் பிள்ளைகள் என்னை விட்டுப்போய்விட்டார்கள்; அவர்களில் ஒருவனுமில்லை; இனி என் கூடாரத்தை விரித்து என் திரைகளைத் தூக்கிக்கட்டுவாரில்லை.

My tabernacle is spoiled, and all my cords are broken: my children are gone forth of me, and they are not: there is none to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains.

மேய்ப்பர்கள் மிருககுணமுள்ளவர்களாகி, கர்த்தரைத் தேடாமற்போனார்கள்; ஆகையால், அவர்கள் காரியம் வாய்க்காமற்போய், அவர்கள் மந்தையெல்லாம் சிதறடிக்கப்பட்டது.

For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.

இதோ, யூதாவின் பட்டணங்களைப் பாழும் வலுசர்ப்பங்களின் தாவுமாக்கிப்போடும் செய்தியின் சத்தமும், வடதேசத்திலிருந்து பெரிய கொந்தளிப்பும் வருகிறது.

Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and a den of dragons.

கர்த்தாவே, மனுஷனுடைய வழி அவனாலே ஆகிறதல்லவென்றும், தன் நடைகளை நடத்துவது நடக்கிறவனாலே ஆகிறதல்லவென்றும் அறிவேன்.

O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

கர்த்தாவே, என்னைத் தண்டியும்; ஆனாலும் நான் அவமாய்ப்போகாதபடிக்கு உம்முடைய கோபத்தினாலே அல்ல, மட்டாய்த் தண்டியும்.

O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.

உம்மை அறியாத ஜாதிகளின்மேலும், உமது நாமத்தைத் தொழுதுகொள்ளாத வம்சங்களின்மேலும், உம்முடைய உக்கிரத்தை ஊற்றிவிடும்; அவர்கள் யாக்கோபைப் பட்சித்து, அவனை விழுங்கி, அவனை நிர்மூலமாக்கி, அவன் வாசஸ்தலத்தைப் பாழாக்கினார்களே.

Pour out thy fury upon the heathen that know thee not, and upon the families that call not on thy name: for they have eaten up Jacob, and devoured him, and consumed him, and have made his habitation desolate.

அப்போஸ்தலர் அத்தியாயம் 27

நாங்கள் இத்தாலியா தேசத்துக்குக் கப்பல் ஏறிப்போகும்படி தீர்மானிக்கப்பட்டபோது, பவுலையும் காவலில் வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த வேறுசிலரையும் அகுஸ்து பட்டாளத்தைச் சேர்ந்த யூலியு என்னும் பேர்கொண்ட நூற்றுக்கு அதிபதியினிடத்தில் ஒப்புவித்தார்கள்.

And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a centurion of Augustus' band.

அதிரமித்தியம் ஊர்க்கப்பலில் நாங்கள் ஏறி, ஆசியா நாட்டுக் கரைபிடித்தோடவேண்டுமென்று நினைத்துப் புறப்பட்டோம். மக்கெதோனியா தேசத்துத் தெசலோனிக்கே பட்டணத்தானாகிய அரிஸ்தர்க்கு எங்களுடனேகூட இருந்தான்.

And entering into a ship of Adramyttium, we launched, meaning to sail by the coasts of Asia; one Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us.

மறுநாள் சீதோன் துறைபிடித்தோம். யூலியு பவுலைப் பட்சமாய் நடப்பித்து, அவன் தன் சிநேகிதரிடத்திலே போய்ப் பராமரிப்படையும்படிக்கு உத்தரவு கொடுத்தான்.

And the next day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously entreated Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.

அவ்விடம்விட்டு நாங்கள் புறப்பட்டு, எதிர்க்காற்றாயிருந்தபடியினால், சீப்புரு தீவின் ஒதுக்கிலே ஓடினோம்.

And when we had launched from thence, we sailed under Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.

பின்பு சிலிசியா பம்பிலியா நாடுகளின் கடல்வழியாய் ஓடி, லீசியா நாட்டு மீறாப்பட்டணத்தில் சேர்ந்தோம்.

And when we had sailed over the sea of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia.

இத்தாலியாவுக்குப் போகிற அலெக்சந்திரியா பட்டணத்துக் கப்பலை நூற்றுக்கு அதிபதி அங்கே கண்டு, எங்களை அதில் ஏற்றினான்.

And there the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing into Italy; and he put us therein.

காற்று எங்களைத் தடுத்தபடியினாலே, நாங்கள் அநேகநாள் மெதுவாய்ச் சென்று, வருத்தத்தோடே கினீதுபட்டணத்திற்கு எதிரே வந்து, சல்மோனே ஊருக்கு எதிராய்க் கிரேத்தாதீவின் ஒதுக்கில் ஓடினோம்.

And when we had sailed slowly many days, and scarce were come over against Cnidus, the wind not suffering us, we sailed under Crete, over against Salmone;

அதை வருத்தத்தோடே கடந்து, நல்ல துறைமுகம் என்னப்பட்ட ஒரு இடத்திற்கு வந்தோம்; லசேயபட்டணம் அதற்குச் சமீபமாயிருந்தது.

And, hardly passing it, came unto a place which is called The fair havens; nigh whereunto was the city of Lasea.

வெகுகாலம் சென்று, உபவாசநாளும் கழிந்துபோனபடியினாலே, இனிக் கப்பல் யாத்திரை செய்கிறது மோசத்திற்கு ஏதுவாயிருக்குமென்று, பவுல் அவர்களை நோக்கி:

Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them,

மனுஷரே, இந்த யாத்திரையினாலே சரக்குக்கும் கப்பலுக்கும் மாத்திரமல்ல, நம்முடைய ஜீவனுக்கும் வருத்தமும் மிகுந்த சேதமும் உண்டாயிருக்குமென்று காண்கிறேன் என்று சொல்லி, அவர்களை எச்சரித்தான்.

And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.

நூற்றுக்கு அதிபதி பவுலினால் சொல்லப்பட்டவைகளைப் பார்க்கிலும் மாலுமியையும் கப்பல் எஜமானையும் அதிகமாய் நம்பினான்.

Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.

அந்தத் துறைமுகம் மழைகாலத்திலே தங்குவதற்கு வசதியாயிராதபடியினால், அவ்விடத்தை விட்டுத் தென்மேற்கையும் வடமேற்கையும் நோக்கியிருக்கும் கிரேத்தா தீவிலுள்ள துறைமுகமாகிய பேனிக்ஸ் என்னும் இடத்தில் சேரக்கூடுமானால் சேர்ந்து, மழைகாலத்தில் தங்கும்படி அநேகம்பேர் ஆலோசனை சொன்னார்கள்.

And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lieth toward the south west and north west.

தென்றல் மெதுவாயடித்தபடியால், தாங்கள் கோரினது கைகூடிவந்ததென்று எண்ணி, அவ்விடம்விட்டுப் பெயர்ந்து கிரேத்தா தீவுக்கு அருகாக ஓடினார்கள்.

And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing thence, they sailed close by Crete.

கொஞ்சநேரத்துக்குள்ளே யூரோக்கிலிதோன் என்னுங்கடுங்காற்று அதில் மோதிற்று.

But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.

கப்பல் அதில் அகப்பட்டுக்கொண்டு, காற்றுக்கு எதிர்த்துப்போகக்கூடாதபடியினால் காற்றின் போக்கிலே கொண்டுபோகப்பட்டோம்.

And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.

அப்படிக் கிலவுதா என்னப்பட்ட ஒரு சின்ன தீவின் ஒதுக்கிலே ஓடுகையில் வெகு வருத்தத்தோடே படவை வசப்படுத்தினோம்.

And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:

அதை அவர்கள் தூக்கியெடுத்தபின்பு, பல உபாயங்கள் செய்து, கப்பலைச் சுற்றிக் கட்டி, சொரிமணலிலே விழுவோமென்று பயந்து, பாய்களை இறக்கி, இவ்விதமாய்க் கொண்டுபோகப்பட்டார்கள்.

Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, strake sail, and so were driven.

மேலும் பெருங்காற்றுமழையில் நாங்கள் மிகவும் அடிபட்டபடியினால், மறுநாளில் சில சரக்குகளைக் கடலில் எறிந்தார்கள்.

And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;

மூன்றாம் நாளிலே கப்பலின் தளவாடங்களை எங்கள் கைகளினாலே எடுத்து எறிந்தோம்.

And the third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship.

அநேகநாளாய்ச் சூரியனாவது நட்சத்திரங்களாவது காணப்படாமல், மிகுந்த பெருங்காற்றுமழையும் அடித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தபடியினால், இனித் தப்பிப்பிழைப்போமென்னும் நம்பிக்கை முழுமையும் அற்றுப்போயிற்று.

And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

அநேகநாள் அவர்கள் போஜனம்பண்ணாமல் இருந்தபோது, பவுல் அவர்கள் நடுவிலே நின்று: மனுஷரே, இந்த வருத்தமும் சேதமும் வராதபடிக்கு என் சொல்லைக்கேட்டு, கிரேத்தாதீவை விட்டுப்புறப்படாமல் இருக்கவேண்டியதாயிருந்தது.

But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.

ஆகிலும் திடமனதாயிருங்களென்று இப்பொழுது உங்களுக்குத் தைரியஞ்சொல்லுகிறேன். கப்பற் சேதமேயல்லாமல் உங்களில் ஒருவனுக்கும் பிராணச்சேதம் வராது.

And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship.

ஏனென்றால், என்னை ஆட்கொண்டவரும் நான் சேவிக்கிறவருமான தேவனுடைய தூதனானவன் இந்த இராத்திரியிலே என்னிடத்தில் வந்து நின்று:

For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,

பவுலே, பயப்படாதே, நீ இராயனுக்கு முன்பாக நிற்கவேண்டும், இதோ, உன்னுடனேகூட யாத்திரைபண்ணுகிற யாவரையும் தேவன் உனக்குத் தயவுபண்ணினார் என்றான்.

Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.

ஆனபடியினால் மனுஷரே, திடமனதாயிருங்கள். எனக்குச் சொல்லப்பட்ட பிரகாரமாகவே நடக்கும் என்று தேவனிடத்தில் நம்பிக்கையாயிருக்கிறேன்.

Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

ஆயினும் நாம் ஒரு தீவிலே விழவேண்டியதாயிருக்கும் என்றான்.

Howbeit we must be cast upon a certain island.

பதினாலாம் இராத்திரியானபோது, நாங்கள் ஆதிரியாக் கடலிலே அலைவுபட்டு ஓடுகையில், நடுஜாமத்திலே கப்பலாட்களுக்கு ஒரு கரை கிட்டிவருகிறதாகத் தோன்றிற்று.

But when the fourteenth night was come, as we were driven up and down in Adria, about midnight the shipmen deemed that they drew near to some country;

உடனே அவர்கள் விழுதுவிட்டு இருபது பாகமென்று கண்டார்கள்; சற்றப்புறம் போனபொழுது, மறுபடியும் விழுதுவிட்டுப் பதினைந்து பாகமென்று கண்டார்கள்.

And sounded, and found it twenty fathoms: and when they had gone a little further, they sounded again, and found it fifteen fathoms.

பாறையிடங்களில் விழுவோமென்று பயந்து, பின்னணியத்திலிருந்து நாலு நங்கூரங்களைப்போட்டு, பொழுது எப்போது விடியுமோ என்றிருந்தார்கள்.

Then fearing lest we should have fallen upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day.

அப்பொழுது கப்பலாட்கள் கப்பலை விட்டோடிப்போக வகைதேடி, முன்னணியத்திலிருந்து நங்கூரங்களைப் போடப்போகிற பாவனையாய்ப் படவைக் கடலில் இறக்குகையில்,

And as the shipmen were about to flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat into the sea, under colour as though they would have cast anchors out of the foreship,

பவுல் நூற்றுக்கு அதிபதியையும் சேவகரையும் நோக்கி: இவர்கள் கப்பலில் இராவிட்டால் நீங்கள் தப்பிப் பிழைக்கமாட்டீர்கள் என்றான்.

Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.

அப்பொழுது, போர்ச்சேவகர் படவின் கயிறுகளை அறுத்து, அதைத் தாழ விழவிட்டார்கள்.

Then the soldiers cut off the ropes of the boat, and let her fall off.

பொழுது விடிகையில் எல்லாரும் போஜனம்பண்ணும்படி பவுல் அவர்களுக்குத் தைரியஞ்சொல்லி: நீங்கள் இன்று பதினாலுநாளாய் ஒன்றும் சாப்பிடாமல் பட்டினியாயிருக்கிறீர்கள்.

And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take meat, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing.

ஆகையால் போஜனம்பண்ணும்படி உங்களை வேண்டிக்கொள்ளுகிறேன், நீங்கள் தப்பிப் பிழைப்பதற்கு அது உதவியாயிருக்கும்; உங்கள் தலையிலிருந்து ஒரு மயிரும் விழாது என்றான்.

Wherefore I pray you to take some meat: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you.

இப்படிச் சொல்லி. அப்பத்தை எடுத்து, எல்லாருக்குமுன்பாகவும் தேவனை ஸ்தோத்தரித்து, அதைப் பிட்டுப் புசிக்கத்தொடங்கினான்.

And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat.

அப்பொழுது எல்லாரும் திடமனப்பட்டுப் புசித்தார்கள்.

Then were they all of good cheer, and they also took some meat.

கப்பலில் இருநூற்றெழுபத்தாறுபேர் இருந்தோம்.

And we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls.

திருப்தியாகப் புசித்தபின்பு அவர்கள் கோதுமையைக் கடலிலே எறிந்து, கப்பலை இலகுவாக்கினார்கள்.

And when they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, and cast out the wheat into the sea.

பொழுது விடிந்தபின்பு, இன்னபூமியென்று அறியாதிருந்தார்கள். அப்பொழுது சமமான கரையுள்ள ஒரு துறைமுகம் அவர்களுக்குத் தென்பட்டது; கூடுமானால் அதற்குள் கப்பலையோட்ட யோசனையாயிருந்து,

And when it was day, they knew not the land: but they discovered a certain creek with a shore, into the which they were minded, if it were possible, to thrust in the ship.

நங்கூரங்களை அறுத்துக் கடலிலே விட்டுவிட்டு, சுக்கான்களுடைய கட்டுகளைத் தளரவிட்டு, பெரும்பாயைக் காற்று முகமாய் விரித்து, கரைக்கு நேராய் ஓடி,

And when they had taken up the anchors, they committed themselves unto the sea, and loosed the rudder bands, and hoised up the mainsail to the wind, and made toward shore.

இருபுறமும் கடல் மோதிய ஒரு இடத்திலே கப்பலைத் தட்டவைத்தார்கள்; முன்னணியம் ஊன்றி அசையாமலிருந்தது, பின்னணியம் அலைகளுடைய பலத்தினால் உடைந்துபோயிற்று.

And falling into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground; and the forepart stuck fast, and remained unmoveable, but the hinder part was broken with the violence of the waves.

அப்பொழுது காவல்பண்ணப்பட்டவர்களில் ஒருவனும் நீந்தி ஓடிப்போகாதபடிக்கு அவர்களைக் கொன்றுபோடவேண்டுமென்று போர்ச்சேவகர் யோசனையாயிருந்தார்கள்.

And the soldiers' counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim out, and escape.

நூற்றுக்கு அதிபதி பவுலைக் காப்பாற்ற மனதாயிருந்து, அவர்களுடைய யோசனையைத் தடுத்து, நீந்தத்தக்கவர்கள் முந்திக் கடலில் விழுந்து கரையேறவும்,

But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land:

மற்றவர்களில் சிலர் பலகைகள்மேலும், சிலர் கப்பல் துண்டுகள்மேலும் போய்க் கரையேறவும் கட்டளையிட்டான்; இவ்விதமாய் எல்லாரும் தப்பிக் கரைசேர்ந்தார்கள்.

And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.
