ஏசாயா அத்தியாயம் 62

சீயோனினிமித்தமும் எருசலேமினிமித்தமும் நான் மவுனமாயிராமலும், அதின் நீதி பிரகாசத்தைப் போலவும், அதின் இரட்சிப்பு எரிகிற தீவட்டியைப்போலவும் வெளிப்படுமட்டும் அமராமலும் இருப்பேன்.

For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.

ஜாதிகள் உன் நீதியையும், சகல ராஜாக்களும் உன் மகிமையையும் காண்பார்கள்; கர்த்தருடைய வாய் சொல்லும் புது நாமத்தால் நீ அழைக்கப்படுவாய்.

And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name.

நீ கர்த்தருடைய கையில் அலங்காரமான கிரீடமும், உன் தேவனுடைய கரத்தில் ராஜமுடியுமாயிருப்பாய்.

Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.

நீ இனிக் கைவிடப்பட்டவள் என்னப்படாமலும், உன் தேசம் இனிப்பாழான தேசமென்னப்படாமலும், நீ எப்சிபா என்றும், உன் தேசம் பியூலா என்றும் சொல்லப்படும்; கர்த்தர் உன்மேல் பிரியமாயிருக்கிறார்; உன் தேசம் வாழ்க்கைப்படும்.

Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.

வாலிபன் கன்னிகையை விவாகம்பண்ணுவதுபோல, உன் மக்கள் உன்னை விவாகம்பண்ணுவார்கள்; மணவாளன் மணவாட்டியின்மேல் மகிழ்ச்சியாயிருப்பதுபோல, உன் தேவன் உன்மேல் மகிழ்ச்சியாயிருப்பார்.

For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.

எருசலேமே, உன் மதில்களின்மேல் பகல்முழுதும் இராமுழுதும் ஒருக்காலும் மவுனமாயிராத ஜாமக்காரரைக் கட்டளையிடுகிறேன். கர்த்தரைப் பிரஸ்தாபம்பண்ணுகிறவர்களே, நீங்கள் அமரிக்கையாயிருக்கலாகாது.

I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence,

அவர் எருசலேமை ஸ்திரப்படுத்தி, பூமியிலே அதைப் புகழ்ச்சியாக்கும்வரைக்கும் அவரை அமர்ந்திருக்கவிடாதிருங்கள்.

And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

இனி நான் உன் தானியத்தை உன் சத்துருக்களுக்கு ஆகாரமாகக் கொடேன்; உன் பிரயாசத்தினாலாகிய உன் திராட்சரசத்தை அந்நிய புத்திரர் குடிப்பதுமில்லையென்று கர்த்தர் தமது வலது கரத்தின்மேலும் தமது வல்லமையுள்ள புயத்தின்மேலும் ஆணையிட்டார்.

The LORD hath sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no more give thy corn to be meat for thine enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine, for the which thou hast laboured:

அதைச் சேர்த்தவர்களே அதைப் புசித்துக் கர்த்தரைத் துதிப்பார்கள்; அதைக் கூட்டிவைத்தவர்களே என் பரிசுத்த ஸ்தலத்தின் பிராகாரங்களில் அதைக் குடிப்பார்கள்.

But they that have gathered it shall eat it, and praise the LORD; and they that have brought it together shall drink it in the courts of my holiness.

வாசல்கள் வழியாய்ப் பிரவேசியுங்கள், பிரவேசியுங்கள்; ஜனத்துக்கு வழியைச் செவ்வைப்படுத்துங்கள்; பாதையை உயர்த்துங்கள், உயர்த்துங்கள்; அதிலுள்ள கற்களைப் பொறுக்கிப்போடுங்கள்; ஜனங்களுக்காகக் கொடியை ஏற்றுங்கள்.

Go through, go through the gates; prepare ye the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a standard for the people.

நீங்கள் சீயோன் குமாரத்தியை நோக்கி: இதோ, உன் இரட்சிப்பு வருகிறது; இதோ, அவர் அருளும் பலன் அவரோடும், அவர் செய்யும் பிரதிபலன் அவர் முன்பாகவும் வருகிறது என்று சொல்லுங்கள் என்று, கர்த்தர் பூமியின் கடையாந்தரம்வரைக்கும் கூறுகிறார்.

Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.

அவர்களைப் பரிசுத்த ஜனமென்றும், கர்த்தரால் மீட்கப்பட்டவர்களென்றும் சொல்லுவார்கள்; நீ தேடிக்கொள்ளப்பட்டதென்றும், கைவிடப்படாத நகரமென்றும் பெயர்பெறுவாய்.

And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.

ஏசாயா அத்தியாயம் 63

ஏதோமிலும் அதிலுள்ள போஸ்றா பட்டணத்திலுமிருந்து, சாயந்தீர்ந்த வஸ்திரங்களுடையவராகவும், மகத்துவமாய் உடுத்திருக்கிறவராகவும், தமது மகத்தான வல்லமையிலே எழுந்தருளினவராகவும் வருகிற இவர் யார்? நீதியாய்ப் பேசி இரட்சிக்க வல்லவராகிய நான்தானே.

Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.

உம்முடைய உடுப்புச் சிவப்பாகவும், உம்முடைய வஸ்திரங்கள் ஆலையை மிதிக்கிறவன் வஸ்திரங்கள் போலவும் இருக்கிறதென்ன?

Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?

நான் ஒருவனாய் ஆலையை மிதித்தேன்; ஜனங்களில் ஒருவனும் என்னோடிருந்ததில்லை; நான் என் கோபத்திலே அவர்களை மிதித்து, என் உக்கிரத்திலே அவர்களை நசுக்கிப்போட்டேன்; அதினால் அவர்கள் இரத்தம் என் வஸ்திரங்களின்மேல் தெறித்தது, என் உடுப்பையெல்லாம் கறைப்படுத்திக்கொண்டேன்.

I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.

நீதியைச் சரிக்கட்டும் நாள் என் மனதிலிருந்தது; என்னுடையவர்களை மீட்கும் வருஷம் வந்தது.

For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.

நான் பார்த்தேன், துணை செய்வார் ஒருவருமில்லை; தாங்குவார் ஒருவருமில்லை என்று ஆச்சரியப்பட்டேன்; அப்பொழுது என் புயமே எனக்கு இரட்சிப்பாகி, என் உக்கிரமே என்னைத் தாங்கிற்று.

And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.

நான் என் கோபத்திலே ஜனங்களை மிதித்து, என் உக்கிரத்திலே அவர்களை வெறியாக்கி, அவர்கள் சாரத்தைத் தரையிலே இறங்கப்பண்ணினேன்.

And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.

கர்த்தர் எங்களுக்குச் செய்தருளின எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் தக்கதாகவும், அவர் தம்முடைய இரக்கங்களின்படியும் தம்முடைய திரளான தயவுகளின்படியும், இஸ்ரவேல் வம்சத்துக்குச் செய்த மகா நன்மைக்குத்தக்கதாகவும், கர்த்தருடைய கிரியைகளையும், கர்த்தருடைய துதிகளையும் பிரஸ்தாபம் பண்ணுவேன்.

I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.

அவர்கள் என் ஜனந்தானென்றும், அவர்கள் வஞ்சனை செய்யாதிருக்கும் பிள்ளைகளென்றும் சொல்லி, அவர்களுக்கு இரட்சகரானார்.

For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.

அவர்களுடைய எல்லா நெருக்கத்திலும் அவர் நெருக்கப்பட்டார்; அவருடைய சமுகத்தின் தூதனானவர் அவர்களை இரட்சித்தார் அவர் தமது அன்பினிமித்தமும், தமது பரிதாபத்தினிமித்தமும் அவர்களை மீட்டு, பூர்வ நாட்களிலெல்லாம் அவர்களைத் தூக்கிச் சுமந்துவந்தார்.

In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

அவர்களோ கலகம்பண்ணி, அவருடைய பரிசுத்த ஆவியை விசனப்படுத்தினார்கள்; அதினால் அவர் அவர்களுக்குச் சத்துருவாய் மாறி, அவரே அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாய் யுத்தம்பண்ணினார்.

But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.

ஆகிலும் அவர் பூர்வநாட்களையும், மோசேயையும், தம்முடைய ஜனத்தையும் நினைவுகூர்ந்தார்; ஆனாலும் அவர்களையும் தமது மந்தையின் மேய்ப்பனையும் சமுத்திரத்திலிருந்து ஏறப்பண்ணினவர் இப்பொழுது எங்கே?

Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?

அவர்கள் நடுவிலே தம்முடைய பரிசுத்த ஆவியை இருக்கக் கட்டளையிட்டு, மோசேயின் வலதுகையைக் கொண்டு அவர்களைத் தமது மகிமையின் புயத்தினாலே நடத்தி, தமக்கு நித்தியகீர்த்தியை உண்டாக்க அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாகத் தண்ணீரைப் பிளந்து,

That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting name?

ஒரு குதிரை வனாந்தர வெளியிலே நடக்கிறதுபோல, அவர்கள் இடறாதபடிக்கு அவர்களை ஆழங்களில் நடக்கப்பண்ணினவர் எங்கே?

That led them through the deep, as an horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble?

கர்த்தருடைய ஆவியானவர் அவர்களைப் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே போய் இறங்குகிற மிருகஜீவன்களைப்போல இளைப்பாறப்பண்ணினார்; இப்படியே தேவரீர், உமக்கு மகிமையுள்ள கீர்த்தியை உண்டாக்கும்படி உம்முடைய ஜனத்தை நடத்தினீர்.

As a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD caused him to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.

தேவரீர் பரலோகத்திலிருந்து கண்ணோக்கி, பரிசுத்தமும் மகிமையுமுள்ள உம்முடைய வாசஸ்தலத்திலிருந்து பாரும், உம்முடைய வைராக்கியமும், உம்முடைய வல்லமையும் எங்கே? உம்முடைய உள்ளத்தின் கொதிப்பையும், உம்முடைய மனஉருக்கத்தையும் எனக்கு முன்பாக அடக்கிக்கொள்ளுகிறீரோ?

Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained?

தேவரீர் எங்கள் பிதாவாயிருக்கிறீர்; ஆபிரகாம் எங்களை அறியான், இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு நாங்கள் அறியப்பட்டவர்களுமல்ல; கர்த்தாவே, நீர் எங்கள் பிதாவும், எங்கள் மீட்பருமாயிருக்கிறீர்; இது பூர்வகாலமுதல் உம்முடைய நாமம்.

Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O LORD, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting.

கர்த்தாவே, நீர் எங்களை உம்முடைய வழிகளைவிட்டுத் தப்பிப்போகப்பண்ணி, எங்கள் இருதயத்தை உமக்குப் பயப்படாதபடிக்குக் கடினப்படுத்துவானேன்? உம்முடைய ஊழியக்காரரினிமித்தமும், உம்முடைய சுதந்தரமான கோத்திரங்களினிமித்தமும் திரும்பியருளும்.

O LORD, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants' sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.

பரிசுத்தமுள்ள உமது ஜனங்கள் கொஞ்சக் காலமாத்திரம் அதைச் சுதந்தரித்தார்கள்; எங்கள் சத்துருக்கள் உம்முடைய பரிசுத்த ஸ்தலத்தை மிதித்துப்போட்டார்கள்.

The people of thy holiness have possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.

நாங்களே உம்முடையவர்கள், அவர்களை ஒருபொழுதும் நீர் ஆண்டதில்லை; அவர்களுக்கு உமது நாமம் தரிக்கப்பட்டதுமில்லை.

We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy name.

ஏசாயா அத்தியாயம் 64

ஆ, உமது நாமத்தைச் சத்துருக்களுக்குத் தெரியப்பண்ணுவதற்கும், ஜாதிகள் உம்முடைய சந்நிதிக்கு முன் தத்தளிப்பதற்கும்,

Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence,

தேவரீர் வானங்களைக் கிழித்திறங்கி, உருக்கும் அக்கினி எரியுமாப்போலவும், அக்கினி தண்ணீரைப் பொங்கப்பண்ணுமாப்போலவும், பர்வதங்கள் உமக்கு முன்பாக உருகும்படி செய்யும்.

As when the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence!

நாங்கள் எதிர்பார்த்திராத பயங்கரமான காரியங்களை நீர் செய்தபோது, நீர் இறங்கினீர், உமது சந்நிதியில் பர்வதங்கள் உருகிப்போயின.

When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence.

தேவனே, உமக்குக் காத்திருக்கிறவர்களுக்கு நீர் செய்பவைகளை, நீரேயல்லாமல் உலகத்தோற்றமுதற்கொண்டு ஒருவரும் கேட்டதுமில்லை, செவியால் உணர்ந்ததுமில்லை, அவைகளைக் கண்டதுமில்லை.

For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.

மகிழ்ச்சியாய் நீதியைச் செய்கிறவர்களையும், உம்முடைய வழிகளில் உம்மை நினைக்கிறவர்களையும் சந்திக்கிறீர்; நாங்களோ, அவைகளுக்கு விரோதமாக எப்பொழுதும் பாவஞ்செய்தபடியினாலே, தேவரீர் கடுங்கோபங்கொண்டீர்; இன்னமும் தப்பியிருக்கிறோம்.

Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved.

நாங்கள் அனைவரும் தீட்டானவர்கள்போல இருக்கிறோம்; எங்களுடைய நீதிகளெல்லாம் அழுக்கான கந்தைபோல இருக்கிறது, நாங்கள் அனைவரும் இலைகளைப்போல் உதிருகிறோம்; எங்கள் அக்கிரமங்கள் காற்றைப்போல் எங்களை அடித்துக்கொண்டுபோகிறது.

But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

உமது நாமத்தை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிடுகிறவனும், உம்மைப் பற்றிக்கொள்ளும்படிக்கு விழித்துக்கொள்ளுகிறவனும் இல்லை; தேவரீர் உம்முடைய முகத்தை எங்களை விட்டு மறைத்து, எங்கள் அக்கிரமங்களினிமித்தம் எங்களைக் கரையப்பண்ணுகிறீர்.

And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.

இப்பொழுதும் கர்த்தாவே, நீர் எங்களுடைய பிதா, நாங்கள் களிமண்; நீர் எங்களை உருவாக்குகிறவர், நாங்கள் அனைவரும் உமது கரத்தின் கிரியை.

But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

கர்த்தாவே, அதிகமாய்க் கடுங்கோபங்கொள்ளாமலும், என்றைக்கும் அக்கிரமத்தை நினைத்துக்கொள்ளாமலும் இருப்பீராக; இதோ, பாரும், நாங்கள் அனைவரும் உம்முடைய ஜனங்களே.

Be not wroth very sore, O LORD, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, see, we beseech thee, we are all thy people.

உமது பரிசுத்த பட்டணங்கள் வனாந்தரமாயின; சீயோன் வனாந்தரமாயிற்று; எருசலேம் பாழாய்க் கிடக்கிறது.

Thy holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.

எங்கள் பிதாக்கள் உம்மைத் துதித்த பரிசுத்தமும் மகிமையுமான எங்களுடைய ஆலயம் அக்கினிக்கு இரையாகி, இன்பமான எங்களுடைய ஸ்தானங்களெல்லாம் பாழாயின.

Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burned up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste.

கர்த்தாவே, இவைகள் இப்படியிருந்தும் அடக்கிக்கொண்டிருப்பீரோ? மவுனமாயிருந்து, அதிகமாய் எங்களைச் சிறுமைப்படுத்துவீரோ?

Wilt thou refrain thyself for these things, O LORD? wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us very sore?

அப்போஸ்தலர் அத்தியாயம் 21

நாங்கள் அவர்களை விட்டுப் பிரிந்து, துறைபெயர்ந்தபின்பு, நேராயோடி, கோஸ்தீவையும், மறுநாளில் ரோதுதீவையும் சேர்ந்து, அவ்விடம் விட்டுப் பத்தாரா பட்டணத்துக்கு வந்து,

And it came to pass, that after we were gotten from them, and had launched, we came with a straight course unto Coos, and the day following unto Rhodes, and from thence unto Patara:

அங்கே பெனிக்கே தேசத்திற்குப் போகிற ஒரு கப்பலைக் கண்டு, அதிலே ஏறிப்போனோம்.

And finding a ship sailing over unto Phenicia, we went aboard, and set forth.

சீப்புருதீவைக் கண்டு, அதை இடதுபுறமாக விட்டு, சீரியாநாட்டிற்கு ஓடி, தீருபட்டணத்துறையில் இறங்கினோம்; அங்கே கப்பலின் சரக்குகளை இறக்கவேண்டியதாயிருந்தது.

Now when we had discovered Cyprus, we left it on the left hand, and sailed into Syria, and landed at Tyre: for there the ship was to unlade her burden.

அவ்விடத்திலுள்ள சீஷரைக் கண்டுபிடித்து, அங்கே ஏழுநாள் தங்கினோம். அவர்கள் பவுலை நோக்கி: நீர் எருசலேமுக்குப் போகவேண்டாம் என்று ஆவியின் ஏவுதலினாலே சொன்னார்கள்.

And finding disciples, we tarried there seven days: who said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem.

அந்த நாட்கள் நிறைவேறினபின்பு, நாங்கள் புறப்பட்டுப்போகையில், அவர்களெல்லாரும் மனைவிகளோடும் பிள்ளைகளோடுங்கூடப் பட்டணத்துக்குப் புறம்பே எங்களை வழிவிட்டனுப்பும்படி வந்தார்கள். அப்பொழுது கடற்கரையிலே நாங்கள் முழங்காற்படியிட்டு ஜெபம்பண்ணினோம்.

And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed.

ஒருவரிடத்திலொருவர் உத்தரவு பெற்றுக்கொண்டபின்பு, நாங்கள் கப்பல் ஏறினோம்; அவர்கள் தங்கள் வீடுகளுக்குத் திரும்பிப்போனார்கள்.

And when we had taken our leave one of another, we took ship; and they returned home again.

நாங்கள் கப்பல்யாத்திரையை முடித்து, தீருபட்டணத்தைவிட்டுப் பித்தொலோமாய் பட்டணத்துக்கு வந்து, சகோதரரை வினவி, அவர்களிடத்தில் ஒருநாள் தங்கினோம்.

And when we had finished our course from Tyre, we came to Ptolemais, and saluted the brethren, and abode with them one day.

மறுநாளிலே பவுலைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களாகிய நாங்கள் புறப்பட்டுச் செசரியா பட்டணத்துக்குவந்து, ஏழுபேரில் ஒருவனாகிய பிலிப்பென்னும் சுவிசேஷகனுடைய வீட்டிலே பிரவேசித்து, அவனிடத்தில் தங்கினோம்.

And the next day we that were of Paul's company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him.

தீர்க்கதரிசனஞ்சொல்லுகிற கன்னியாஸ்திரீகளாகிய நாலு குமாரத்திகள் அவனுக்கு இருந்தார்கள்.

And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.

நாங்கள் அநேகநாள் அங்கே தங்கியிருக்கையில், அகபு என்னும் பேர்கொண்ட ஒரு தீர்க்கதரிசி யூதேயாவிலிருந்து வந்தான்.

And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus.

அவன் எங்களிடத்தில் வந்து, பவுலினுடைய கச்சையை எடுத்துத் தன் கைகளையும் கால்களையும் கட்டிக்கொண்டு: இந்தக் கச்சையையுடையவனை எருசலேமிலுள்ள யூதர் இவ்விதமாய்க் கட்டிப் புறஜாதியார் கைகளில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார்கள் என்று பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.

And when he was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.

இவைகளை நாங்கள் கேட்டபொழுது, எருசலேமுக்குப் போகவேண்டாமென்று, நாங்களும் அவ்விடத்தாரும் அவனை வேண்டிக்கொண்டோம்.

And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.

அதற்குப் பவுல்: நீங்கள் அழுது என் இருதயத்தை ஏன் உடைந்துபோகப்பண்ணுகிறீர்கள்? எருசலேமில் நான் கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுவின் நாமத்திற்காகக் கட்டப்படுவதற்குமாத்திரமல்ல, மரிப்பதற்கும் ஆயத்தமாயிருக்கிறேன் என்றான்.

Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.

அவன் சம்மதியாதபடியினாலே, கர்த்தருடைய சித்தம் ஆகக்கடவதென்று அமர்ந்திருந்தோம்.

And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.

அந்த நாட்களுக்குப்பின்பு நாங்கள் பிரயாண சாமான்களை ஆயத்தம்பண்ணிக்கொண்டு எருசலேமுக்குப் போனோம்.

And after those days we took up our carriages, and went up to Jerusalem.

செசரியா பட்டணத்திலுள்ள சீஷரில் சிலர் எங்களுடனேகூட வந்ததுமன்றி, சீப்புருதீவானாகிய மினாசோன் என்னும் ஒரு பழைய சீஷனிடத்திலே நாங்கள் தங்கும்படியாக அவனையும் தங்களோடே கூட்டிக்கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்.

There went with us also certain of the disciples of Caesarea, and brought with them one Mnason of Cyprus, an old disciple, with whom we should lodge.

நாங்கள் எருசலேமுக்கு வந்தபோது, சகோதரர் எங்களைச் சந்தோஷமாய் ஏற்றுக்கொண்டார்கள்.

And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly.

மறுநாளிலே பவுல் எங்களைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, யாக்கோபினிடத்திற்குப் போனான்; மூப்பரெல்லாரும் அங்கே கூடிவந்தார்கள்.

And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present.

அவர்களை அவன் வினவி, தன் ஊழியத்தினாலே தேவன் புறஜாதிகளிடத்தில் செய்தவைகளை ஒவ்வொன்றாய் விவரித்துச்சொன்னான்.

And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.

அதை அவர்கள் கேட்டுக் கர்த்தரை மகிமைப்படுத்தினார்கள். பின்பு அவர்கள் அவனை நோக்கி: சகோதரனே, யூதர்களுக்குள் அநேகமாயிரம்பேர் விசுவாசிகளாயிருக்கிறதைப் பார்க்கிறீரே, அவர்களெல்லாரும் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்துக்காக வைராக்கியமுள்ளவர்களாயிருக்கிறார்கள்.

And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law:

புறஜாதிகளிடத்திலிருக்கிற யூதரெல்லாரும் தங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்கு விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணவும், முறைமைகளின்படி நடக்கவும் வேண்டுவதில்லையென்று நீர் சொல்லி, இவ்விதமாய் அவர்கள் மோசேயை விட்டுப் பிரிந்துபோகும்படி போதிக்கிறீரென்று இவர்கள் உம்மைக்குறித்துக் கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறார்கள்.

And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.

இப்பொழுது செய்யவேண்டியது என்ன? நீர் வந்திருக்கிறீரென்று இவர்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டு, நிச்சயமாகக் கூட்டங்கூடுவார்கள்.

What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come.

ஆகையால் நாங்கள் உமக்குச் சொல்லுகிறபடி நீர் செய்யவேண்டும்; அதென்னவென்றால், பிரார்த்தனைபண்ணிக்கொண்டவர்களாகிய நாலுபேர் எங்களிடத்தில் இருக்கிறார்கள்.

Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a vow on them;

அவர்களை நீர் சேர்த்துக்கொண்டு, அவர்களுடனேகூடச் சுத்திகரிப்புச் செய்துகொண்டு, அவர்கள் தலைச்சவரம்பண்ணிக்கொள்வதற்குச் செல்லுமானதைச் செலவுசெய்யும்; அப்படிச் செய்தால் உம்மைக் குறித்துக் கேள்விப்பட்ட காரியங்கள் அபத்தமென்றும், நீரும் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தைக் கைக்கொண்டு நடக்கிறவரென்றும் எல்லாரும் அறிந்துகொள்வார்கள்.

Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law.

விசுவாசிகளான புறஜாதியார் இப்படிப்பட்டவைகளைக் கைக்கொள்ளாமல், விக்கிரகங்களுக்குப் படைத்ததற்கும், இரத்தத்திற்கும், நெருக்குண்டு செத்ததிற்கும், வேசித்தனத்திற்கும், விலகியிருக்கவேண்டுமென்று நாங்கள் தீர்மானம்பண்ணி, அவர்களுக்கு எழுதியனுப்பினோமே என்றார்கள்.

As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.

அப்பொழுது பவுல் அந்த மனுஷரைச் சேர்த்துக்கொண்டு, மறுநாளிலே அவர்களுடனேகூடத் தானும் சுத்திகரிப்புச் செய்துகொண்டு, தேவாலயத்தில் பிரவேசித்து, அவர்களில் ஒவ்வொருவனுக்காக வேண்டிய பலிசெலுத்தித் தீருமளவும் சுத்திகரிப்பு நாட்களை நிறைவேற்றுவேனென்று அறிவித்தான்.

Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.

அந்த ஏழுநாட்களும் நிறைவேறிவருகையில் ஆசியா நாட்டிலிருந்து வந்த யூதர்கள் அவனை தேவாலயத்திலே கண்டு, ஜனங்களெல்லாரையும் எடுத்துவிட்டு, அவன்மேல் கைபோட்டு:

And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands on him,

இஸ்ரவேலரே, உதவிசெய்யுங்கள். நம்முடைய ஜனத்திற்கும் வேதப்பிரமாணத்திற்கும் இந்த ஸ்தலத்திற்கும் விரோதமாக எங்கும் எல்லாருக்கும் போதித்துவருகிறவன் இவன்தான்; இந்தத் தேவாலயத்திற்குள்ளே கிரேக்கரையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுவந்து, இந்தப் பரிசுத்தஸ்தலத்தைத் தீட்டுப்படுத்தினான் என்று சத்தமிட்டார்கள்.

Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place.

எபேசியனாகிய துரோப்பீமு என்பவன் முன்னே நகரத்தில் பவுலுடனேகூட இருக்கிறதைக் கண்டிருந்தபடியால், பவுல் அவனைத் தேவாலயத்தில் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு வந்திருப்பானென்று நினைத்தார்கள்.

For they had seen before with him in the city Trophimus an Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.)

அப்பொழுது நகரமுழுவதும் கலக்கமுற்றது; ஜனங்கள் கூட்டமாய் ஓடிவந்து, பவுலைப் பிடித்து, அவனை தேவாலயத்திற்குப் புறம்பே இழுத்துக்கொண்டுபோனார்கள்; உடனே கதவுகள் பூட்டப்பட்டது.

And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took Paul, and drew him out of the temple: and forthwith the doors were shut.

அவர்கள் அவனைக் கொலைசெய்ய எத்தனித்திருக்கையில், எருசலேம் முழுவதும் கலக்கமாயிருக்கிறதென்று போர்ச்சேவகரின் சேனாதிபதிக்குச் செய்திவந்தது.

And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.

உடனே அவன் போர்ச்சேவகரையும் அவர்களுடைய அதிபதிகளையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, அவர்களிடத்திற்கு ஓடினான்; சேனாதிபதியையும் போர்ச்சேவகரையும் அவர்கள் கண்டபோது பவுலை அடிக்கிறதை விட்டு நிறுத்தினார்கள்.

Who immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down unto them: and when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they left beating of Paul.

அப்பொழுது சேனாதிபதி கிட்டவந்து அவனைப் பிடித்து, இரண்டு சங்கிலிகளினாலே கட்டும்படி சொல்லி: இவன் யார் என்றும் என்ன செய்தான் என்றும் விசாரித்தான்.

Then the chief captain came near, and took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and demanded who he was, and what he had done.

அதற்கு ஜனங்கள் பலவிதமாய்ச் சத்தமிட்டார்கள்; சந்தடியினாலே நிச்சயத்தை அவன் அறியக்கூடாமல், அவனைக் கோட்டைக்குள்ளே கொண்டுபோகும்படி கட்டளையிட்டான்.

And some cried one thing, some another, among the multitude: and when he could not know the certainty for the tumult, he commanded him to be carried into the castle.

அவன் படிகள்மேல் ஏறினபோது ஜனக்கூட்டம் திரண்டு பின்சென்று,

And when he came upon the stairs, so it was, that he was borne of the soldiers for the violence of the people.

இவனை அகற்றும் என்று உக்கிரமாய்க் கூப்பிட்டபடியினாலே, போர்ச்சேவகர் அவனைத் தூக்கிக்கொண்டு போகவேண்டியதாயிருந்தது.

For the multitude of the people followed after, crying, Away with him.

அவர்கள் பவுலைக் கோட்டைக்குள்ளே கொண்டுபோகிற சமயத்தில், அவன் சேனாதிபதியை நோக்கி: நான் உம்முடனே ஒரு வார்த்தை பேசலாமா என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: உனக்குக் கிரேக்குபாஷை தெரியுமா?

And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto thee? Who said, Canst thou speak Greek?

நீ இந்த நாட்களுக்குமுன்னே கலகமுண்டாக்கி, நாலாயிரங்கொலைபாதகரை வனாந்தரத்திற்குக் கொண்டுபோன எகிப்தியன் அல்லவா என்றான்.

Art not thou that Egyptian, which before these days madest an uproar, and leddest out into the wilderness four thousand men that were murderers?

அதற்குப் பவுல்: நான் சிலிசியா நாட்டிலுள்ள கீர்த்திபெற்ற தர்சுபட்டணத்து யூதன்; ஜனங்களுடனே பேசும்படி எனக்கு உத்தரவாகவேண்டுமென்று உம்மை வேண்டிக்கொள்ளுகிறேன் என்றான்.

But Paul said, I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and, I beseech thee, suffer me to speak unto the people.

உத்தரவானபோது, பவுல் படிகளின்மேல் நின்று ஜனங்களைப்பார்த்துக் கையமர்த்தினான்; மிகுந்த அமைதலுண்டாயிற்று; அப்பொழுது அவன் எபிரெயுபாஷையிலே பேசத்தொடங்கினான்:

And when he had given him licence, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand unto the people. And when there was made a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,
