எஸ்தர் அத்தியாயம் 3

இந்த நடபடிகளுக்குப்பின்பு, ராஜாவாகிய அகாஸ்வேரு அம்மெதாத்தாவின் குமாரனாகிய ஆமான் என்னும் ஆகாகியனை மேன்மைப்படுத்தி, தன்னிடத்திலிருக்கிற சகல பிரபுக்களுக்கும் மேலாக அவனுடைய ஆசனத்தை உயர்த்திவைத்தான்.

After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him.

ஆகையால் ராஜாவின் அரமனை வாசலிலிருக்கிற ராஜாவின் ஊழியக்காரர் எல்லாரும் ஆமானை வணங்கி நமஸ்கரித்து வந்தார்கள்; அவனுக்கு இப்படிச் செய்யவேண்டும் என்று ராஜா கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தான்; ஆனாலும் மொர்தெகாய் அவனை வணங்கவுமில்லை, நமஸ்கரிக்கவுமில்லை.

And all the king's servants, that were in the king's gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.

அப்பொழுது ராஜாவின் அரமனை வாசலிலிருக்கிற ராஜாவின் ஊழியக்காரர் மொர்தெகாயைப் பார்த்து: நீ ராஜாவின் கட்டளையை மீறுகிறது என்ன என்று கேட்டார்கள்.

Then the king's servants, which were in the king's gate, said unto Mordecai, Why transgressest thou the king's commandment?

இப்படி அவர்கள் நாளுக்குநாள் அவனுடனே சொல்லியும், அவன் தங்களுக்குச் செவிகொடாதபோது, தான் யூதன் என்று அவன் அவர்களுக்கு அறிவித்திருந்தபடியால், மொர்தெகாயின் சொற்கள் நிலைநிற்குமோ என்று பார்க்கிறதற்கு, அதை ஆமானுக்கு அறிவித்தார்கள்.

Now it came to pass, when they spake daily unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai's matters would stand: for he had told them that he was a Jew.

ஆமான் மொர்தெகாய் தன்னை வணங்கி நமஸ்கரியாததைக் கண்டபோது, மூர்க்கம் நிறைந்தவனானான்.

And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath.

ஆனாலும் மொர்தெகாயின்மேல் மாத்திரம் கைபோடுவது அவனுக்கு அற்பக்காரியமாகக் கண்டது; மொர்தெகாயின் ஜனங்கள் இன்னாரென்று ஆமானுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தபடியால், அகாஸ்வேருவின் ராஜ்யமெங்கும் இருக்கிற மொர்தெகாயின் ஜனமாகிய யூதரையெல்லாம் சங்கரிக்க அவன் வகைதேடினான்.

And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.

ராஜாவாகிய அகாஸ்வேருவின் பன்னிரண்டாம் வருஷம் நிசான் மாதமாகிய முதலாம் மாதத்திலே ஆமானுக்கு முன்பாகப் பூர் என்னப்பட்ட சீட்டு ஒவ்வொரு நாளையும் ஒவ்வொரு மாதத்தையும் குறித்துப் போடப்பட்டு, ஆதார் மாதமான பன்னிரண்டாம் மாதத்தின்மேல் விழுந்தது.

In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar.

அப்பொழுது ஆமான் அகாஸ்வேரு ராஜாவை நோக்கி: உம்முடைய ராஜ்யத்தின் சகல நாடுகளிலுமுள்ள ஜனங்களுக்குள்ளே ஒருவித ஜனங்கள் சிதறுண்டு பரம்பியிருக்கிறார்கள்; அவர்களுடைய வழக்கங்கள் சகல ஜனங்களுடைய வழக்கங்களுக்கும் விகற்பமாயிருக்கிறது; அவர்கள் ராஜாவின் சட்டங்களைக் கைக்கொள்ளுகிறதில்லை; ஆகையால் அவர்களை இப்படி விட்டிருக்கிறது ராஜாவுக்கு நியாயமல்ல.

And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king's laws: therefore it is not for the king's profit to suffer them.

ராஜாவுக்கு சம்மதியானால், அவர்களை அழிக்கவேண்டுமென்று எழுதி அனுப்பவேண்டியது; அப்பொழுது நான் ராஜாவின் கஜானாவிலே கொண்டுவந்து செலுத்த பதினாயிரம் தாலந்து வெள்ளியை எண்ணிக் காரியக்காரர் கையில் கொடுப்பேன் என்றான்.

If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king's treasuries.

அப்பொழுது ராஜா தன் கையிலிருக்கிற தன் மோதிரத்தைக் கழற்றி, அதை ஆகாகியனான அம்மெதாத்தாவின் குமாரனும் யூதரின் சத்துருவுமாகிய ஆமானிடத்தில் கொடுத்து,

And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews' enemy.

ஆமானை நோக்கி: அந்த வெள்ளியை நீ வைத்துக்கொள்; அந்த ஜனத்துக்கு உன் இஷ்டப்படி செய்யலாம் என்றான்.

And the king said unto Haman, The silver is given to thee, the people also, to do with them as it seemeth good to thee.

முதலாம் மாதம் பதின்மூன்றாந்தேதியிலே, ராஜாவின் சம்பிரதிகள் அழைக்கப்பட்டார்கள்; ஆமான் கற்பித்தபடியெல்லாம் ராஜாவின் தேசாதிபதிகளுக்கும், ஒவ்வொரு நாட்டின்மேல் வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த துரைகளுக்கும், ஒவ்வொரு ஜனத்தின் பிரபுக்களுக்கும், அந்தந்த நாட்டில் வழங்கும் அட்சரத்திலும், அந்தந்த ஜாதியார் பேசும் பாஷையிலும் எழுதப்பட்டது; ராஜாவாகிய அகாஸ்வேருவின் பேரால் அது எழுதப்பட்டு, ராஜாவின் மோதிரத்தினால் முத்திரை போடப்பட்டது.

Then were the king's scribes called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and there was written according to all that Haman had commanded unto the king's lieutenants, and to the governors that were over every province, and to the rulers of every people of every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language; in the name of king Ahasuerus was it written, and sealed with the king's ring.

ஆதார் மாதமான பன்னிரண்டாம் மாதம் பதின்மூன்றாந் தேதியாகிய ஒரேநாளிலே சிறியோர் பெரியோர் குழந்தைகள் ஸ்திரீகள் ஆகிய சகல யூதரையும் அழித்துக் கொன்று நிர்மூலமாக்கவும், அவர்களைக் கொள்ளையிடவும், அஞ்சற்காரர் கையிலே ராஜாவின் நாடுகளுக்கெல்லாம் கட்டளைகள் அனுப்பப்பட்டது.

And the letters were sent by posts into all the king's provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey.

அந்த நாளுக்கு ஆயத்தப்பட்டிருக்கவேண்டும் என்று சகல ஜனங்களுக்கும் கூறி அறிவிக்கிறதற்காகக் கொடுக்கப்பட்ட கட்டளையின் நகல் இதுவே, இது ஒவ்வொரு நாட்டிலும் பிரசித்தம் பண்ணப்பட்டது.

The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people, that they should be ready against that day.

அந்த அஞ்சற்காரர் ராஜாவின் உத்தரவினால் தீவிரமாய்ப் புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள்; அந்தக் கட்டளை சூசான் அரமனையில் பிறந்தது. ராஜாவும் ஆமானும் குடிக்கும்படி உட்கார்ந்தார்கள்; சூசான் நகரம் கலங்கிற்று.

The posts went out, being hastened by the king's commandment, and the decree was given in Shushan the palace. And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city Shushan was perplexed.

எஸ்தர் அத்தியாயம் 4

நடந்த யாவற்றையும் மொர்தெகாய் அறிந்தபோது, மொர்தெகாய் தன் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்து, இரட்டுடுத்தி, சாம்பல் போட்டுக்கொண்டு, நகரத்தின் நடுவே புறப்பட்டுப்போய், துயரமுள்ள மகா சத்தத்துடனே அலறிக்கொண்டு,

When Mordecai perceived all that was done, Mordecai rent his clothes, and put on sackcloth with ashes, and went out into the midst of the city, and cried with a loud and a bitter cry;

ராஜாவின் அரமனை வாசல் முகப்புமட்டும் வந்தான்; இரட்டுடுத்தினவனாய் ராஜாவின் அரமனை வாசலுக்குள் பிரவேசிக்க ஒருவனுக்கும் உத்தரவில்லை.

And came even before the king's gate: for none might enter into the king's gate clothed with sackcloth.

ராஜாவின் உத்தரவும் அவனுடைய கட்டளையும் போய்ச் சேர்ந்த ஒவ்வொரு நாட்டிலும் ஸ்தலத்திலுமுள்ள யூதருக்குள்ளே மகா துக்கமும், உபவாசமும், அழுகையும், புலம்பலும் உண்டாகி, அநேகர் இரட்டுடுத்திச் சாம்பலில் கிடந்தார்கள்.

And in every province, whithersoever the king's commandment and his decree came, there was great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and ashes.

அப்பொழுது எஸ்தரின் தாதிமார்களும், அவளுடைய பிரதானிகளும் போய், அதை அவளுக்கு அறிவித்தார்கள்; அதினாலே ராஜாத்தி மிகவும் துக்கப்பட்டு, மொர்தெகாய் உடுத்திருந்த இரட்டை எடுத்துப்போட்டு, அவனை உடுத்துவிக்கிறதற்கு வஸ்திரங்களை அனுப்பினாள்; அவனோ அவைகளை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளாதிருந்தான்.

So Esther's maids and her chamberlains came and told it her. Then was the queen exceedingly grieved; and she sent raiment to clothe Mordecai, and to take away his sackcloth from him: but he received it not.

அப்பொழுது எஸ்தர் தன் பணிவிடைக்கென்று ராஜாவினால் நியமித்திருந்த அவனுடைய பிரதானிகளில் ஒருவனாகிய ஆத்தாகை அழைப்பித்து: காரியம் என்ன? அதின் முகாந்தரம் என்ன? என்று அறியும்படி, மொர்தெகாயினிடத்தில் விசாரிக்க அவனுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டாள்.

Then called Esther for Hatach, one of the king's chamberlains, whom he had appointed to attend upon her, and gave him a commandment to Mordecai, to know what it was, and why it was.

அப்படியே ஆத்தாகு ராஜாவின் அரமனை வாசலுக்கு முன்னான பட்டண வீதியிலிருக்கிற மொர்தெகாயினிடத்தில் புறப்பட்டுப்போனான்.

So Hatach went forth to Mordecai unto the street of the city, which was before the king's gate.

அப்பொழுது மொர்தெகாய் தனக்குச் சம்பவித்த எல்லாவற்றைப்பற்றியும், யூதரை அழிக்கும்படி ஆமான் ராஜாவின் கஜானாவுக்கு எண்ணிக்கொடுப்பேன் என்று சொன்ன பணத்தொகையைப் பற்றியும் அவனுக்கு அறிவித்ததும் அன்றி,

And Mordecai told him of all that had happened unto him, and of the sum of the money that Haman had promised to pay to the king's treasuries for the Jews, to destroy them.

யூதர்களை அழிக்கும்படி சூசானில் பிறந்த கட்டளையின் நகலையும் அவனிடத்தில் கொடுத்து, அதை எஸ்தருக்குக் காண்பித்துத் தெரியப்படுத்தவும், அவள் அகத்தியமாய் ராஜாவினிடத்திற் போய், அவனிடத்தில் தன் ஜனங்களுக்காக விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணவும் மன்றாடவும் வேண்டுமென்று அவளுக்குச் சொல்லச்சொன்னான்.

Also he gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given at Shushan to destroy them, to shew it unto Esther, and to declare it unto her, and to charge her that she should go in unto the king, to make supplication unto him, and to make request before him for her people.

ஆத்தாகு வந்து, மொர்தெகாயின் வார்த்தைகளை எஸ்தருக்கு அறிவித்தான்.

And Hatach came and told Esther the words of Mordecai.

அப்பொழுது எஸ்தர் ஆத்தாகினிடத்தில் மொர்தெகாய்க்குச் சொல்லியனுப்பினது:

Again Esther spake unto Hatach, and gave him commandment unto Mordecai;

யாராவது அழைப்பிக்கப்படாமல், உள்முற்றத்தில் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் பிரவேசித்தால், புருஷரானாலும் ஸ்திரீயானாலும் சரி, அவர்கள் பிழைக்கும்படிக்கு அவர்களுக்கு ராஜா பொற்செங்கோலை நீட்டினாலொழிய மற்றப்படி சாகவேண்டும் என்கிற ஒரு தவறாத சட்டமுண்டு, இது ராஜாவின் சகல ஊழியக்காரருக்கும், ராஜாவினுடைய நாடுகளிலுள்ள சகல ஜனங்களுக்கும் தெரியும்; நான் இந்த முப்பது நாளளவும் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் வரவழைப்பிக்கப்படவில்லை என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னாள்.

All the king's servants, and the people of the king's provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.

எஸ்தரின் வார்த்தைகளை மொர்தெகாய்க்குத் தெரிவித்தார்கள்.

And they told to Mordecai Esther's words.

மொர்தெகாய் எஸ்தருக்குத் திரும்பச் சொல்லச்சொன்னது: நீ ராஜாவின் அரமனையிலிருக்கிறதினால், மற்ற யூதர் தப்பக்கூடாதிருக்க, நீ தப்புவாயென்று உன் மனதிலே நினைவுகொள்ளாதே.

Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews.

நீ இந்தக் காலத்திலே மவுனமாயிருந்தால், யூதருக்குச் சகாயமும் இரட்சிப்பும் வேறொரு இடத்திலிருந்து எழும்பும், அப்பொழுது நீயும் உன் தகப்பன் குடும்பத்தாரும் அழிவீர்கள்; நீ இப்படிப்பட்ட காலத்துக்கு உதவியாயிருக்கும்படி உனக்கு ராஜமேன்மை கிடைத்திருக்கலாமே, யாருக்குத் தெரியும், என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னான்.

For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

அப்பொழுது எஸ்தர் மொர்தெகாய்க்கு மறுபடியும் சொல்லச்சொன்னது:

Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer,

நீர் போய், சூசானில் இருக்கிற யூதரையெல்லாம் கூடிவரச்செய்து, மூன்று நாள் அல்லும் பகலும் புசியாமலும் குடியாமலுமிருந்து, எனக்காக உபவாசம்பண்ணுங்கள்; நானும் என் தாதிமாரும் உபவாசம் பண்ணுவோம்; இவ்விதமாக சட்டத்தை மீறி, ராஜாவினிடத்தில் பிரவேசிப்பேன்; நான் செத்தாலும் சாகிறேன் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னாள்.

Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

அப்பொழுது மொர்தெகாய் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், எஸ்தர் தனக்குக் கற்பித்தபடியெல்லாம் செய்தான்.

So Mordecai went his way, and did according to all that Esther had commanded him.

எஸ்தர் அத்தியாயம் 5

மூன்றாம் நாளிலே எஸ்தர் ராஜவஸ்திரந் தரித்துக்கொண்டு, ராஜ அரமனையின் உள்முற்றத்தில், ராஜா கொலுவிருக்கும் ஸ்தானத்துக்கு எதிராக வந்து நின்றாள்; ராஜா அரமனைவாசலுக்கு எதிரான கொலுமண்டபத்தில் ராஜாசனத்திலே வீற்றிருந்தான்.

Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king's house, over against the king's house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house.

ராஜா ராஜஸ்திரீயாகிய எஸ்தர் முற்றத்தில் நிற்கிறதைக் கண்டபோது, அவளுக்கு அவன் கண்களில் தயை கிடைத்ததினால், ராஜா தன் கையிலிருக்கிற பொற் செங்கோலை எஸ்தரிடத்திற்கு நீட்டினான்; அப்பொழுது எஸ்தர் கிட்டவந்து செங்கோலின் நுனியைத் தொட்டாள்.

And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.

ராஜா அவளை நோக்கி: எஸ்தர் ராஜாத்தியே, உனக்கு என்ன வேண்டும்? நீ கேட்கிற மன்றாட்டு என்ன? நீ ராஜ்யத்தில் பாதிமட்டும் கேட்டாலும், உனக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படும் என்றான்.

Then said the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy request? it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom.

அப்பொழுது எஸ்தர்: ராஜாவுக்குச் சித்தமானால், நான் தமக்குச் செய்வித்த விருந்துக்கு ராஜாவும் ஆமானும் இன்றைக்கு வரவேண்டும் என்றாள்.

And Esther answered, If it seem good unto the king, let the king and Haman come this day unto the banquet that I have prepared for him.

அப்பொழுது ராஜா எஸ்தர் சொற்படி செய்ய, ஆமானைத் தீவிரித்து வரும்படி சொல்லி, எஸ்தர் செய்த விருந்துக்கு ராஜாவும் ஆமானும் வந்தார்கள்.

Then the king said, Cause Haman to make haste, that he may do as Esther hath said. So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.

விருந்திலே திராட்சரசம் பரிமாறப்படுகையில், ராஜா எஸ்தரைப் பார்த்து: உன் வேண்டுதல் என்ன? அது உனக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படும்; நீ கேட்கிறது என்ன? நீ ராஜ்யத்தில் பாதிமட்டும் கேட்டாலும் கிடைக்கும் என்றான்.

And the king said unto Esther at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.

அதற்கு எஸ்தர் பிரதியுத்தரமாக:

Then answered Esther, and said, My petition and my request is;

ராஜாவின் கண்களில் எனக்குக் கிருபை கிடைத்து, என் வேண்டுதலைக் கட்டளையிடவும், என் விண்ணப்பத்தின்படி செய்யவும், ராஜாவுக்குச் சித்தமாயிருந்தால், ராஜாவும் ஆமானும் நான் இன்னும் தங்களுக்குச் செய்யப்போகிற விருந்துக்கு வரவேண்டும் என்பதே என் வேண்டுதலும் என் விண்ணப்பமுமாயிருக்கிறது; நாளைக்கு ராஜாவின் சொற்படி செய்வேன் என்றாள்.

If I have found favour in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition, and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall prepare for them, and I will do to morrow as the king hath said.

அன்றையதினம் ஆமான் சந்தோஷமும் மனமகிழ்ச்சியுமாய்ப் புறப்பட்டான்; ஆனாலும் ராஜாவின் அரமனை வாசலிலிருக்கிற மொர்தெகாய் தனக்கு முன் எழுந்திராமலும் அசையாமலும் இருக்கிறதை ஆமான் கண்டபோது, அவன் மொர்தெகாயின்மேல் உக்கிரம் நிறைந்தவனானான்.

Then went Haman forth that day joyful and with a glad heart: but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate, that he stood not up, nor moved for him, he was full of indignation against Mordecai.

ஆகிலும் ஆமான் அதை அடக்கிக்கொண்டு, தன் வீட்டுக்கு வந்து, தன் சிநேகிதரையும் தன் மனைவியாகிய சிரேஷையும் அழைத்து,

Nevertheless Haman refrained himself: and when he came home, he sent and called for his friends, and Zeresh his wife.

தன் ஐசுவரியத்தின் மகிமையையும், தன் பிள்ளைகளின் திரட்சியையும், ராஜா தன்னைப் பெரியவனாக்கி, தன்னைப் பிரபுக்கள்மேலும் ராஜாவின் ஊழியக்காரர்மேலும் உயர்த்தின எல்லாவற்றையும் ஆமான் அவர்களுக்கு விவரித்துச் சொன்னான்.

And Haman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.

பின்னையும் ஆமான்: ராஜஸ்திரீயாகிய எஸ்தரும் தான் செய்த விருந்துக்கு ராஜாவுடனேகூட என்னைத்தவிர வேறொருவரையும் அழைக்கவில்லை; நாளைக்கும் ராஜாவுடனேகூட நான் விருந்துக்கு வரவழைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறேன்.

Haman said moreover, Yea, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and to morrow am I invited unto her also with the king.

ஆனாலும் அந்த யூதனாகிய மொர்தெகாய் ராஜாவின் அரமனைவாசலில் உட்கார்ந்திருக்கிறதை நான் காணுமளவும் அவையெல்லாம் எனக்கு ஒன்றுமில்லையென்றான்.

Yet all this availeth me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king's gate.

அப்பொழுது அவன் மனைவியாகிய சிரேஷூம் அவனுடைய சிநேகிதர் எல்லாரும் அவனைப் பார்த்து: ஐம்பது முழ உயரமான ஒரு தூக்குமரம் செய்யப்படவேண்டும்; அதிலே மொர்தெகாயைத் தூக்கிப்போடும்படி நாளையதினம் நீர் ராஜாவுக்குச் சொல்லவேண்டும்; பின்பு சந்தோஷமாய் ராஜாவுடனேகூட விருந்துக்குப் போகலாம் என்றார்கள்; இந்தக் காரியம் ஆமானுக்கு நன்றாய்க் கண்டதினால் தூக்குமரத்தைச் செய்வித்தான்.

Then said Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows be made of fifty cubits high, and to morrow speak thou unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon: then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet. And the thing pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made.

மத்தேயு அத்தியாயம் 25

அப்பொழுது பரலோகராஜ்யம் தங்கள் தீவட்டிகளைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு, மணவாளனுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோகப்புறப்பட்ட பத்துக்கன்னிகைகளுக்கு ஒப்பாயிருக்கும்.

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

அவர்களில் ஐந்துபேர் புத்தியுள்ளவர்களும், ஐந்துபேர் புத்தியில்லாதவர்களுமாயிருந்தார்கள்.

And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

புத்தியில்லாதவர்கள் தங்கள் தீவட்டிகளை எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோனார்கள், எண்ணெயையோ கூடக்கொண்டுபோகவில்லை.

They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

புத்தியுள்ளவர்கள் தங்கள் தீவட்டிகளோடுங்கூடத் தங்கள் பாத்திரங்களில் எண்ணெயையும் கொண்டுபோனார்கள்.

But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

மணவாளன் வரத் தாமதித்தபோது, அவர்கள் எல்லாரும் நித்திரைமயக்கமடைந்து தூங்கிவிட்டார்கள்.

While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

நடுராத்திரியிலே: இதோ, மணவாளன் வருகிறார், அவருக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோகப் புறப்படுங்கள் என்கிற சத்தம் உண்டாயிற்று.

And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

அப்பொழுது, அந்தக் கன்னிகைகள் எல்லாரும் எழுந்திருந்து, தங்கள் தீவட்டிகளை ஆயத்தப்படுத்தினார்கள்.

Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

புத்தியில்லாதவர்கள் புத்தியுள்ளவர்களை நோக்கி: உங்கள் எண்ணெயில் எங்களுக்குக் கொஞ்சங்கொடுங்கள், எங்கள் தீவட்டிகள் அணைந்துபோகிறதே என்றார்கள்.

And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

புத்தியுள்ளவர்கள் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: அப்படியல்ல, எங்களுக்கும் உங்களுக்கும் போதாமலிராதபடி, நீங்கள் விற்கிறவர்களிடத்திற்குப் போய், உங்களுக்காக வாங்கிக்கொள்ளுங்கள் என்றார்கள்.

But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

அப்படியே அவர்கள் வாங்கப்போனபோது மணவாளன் வந்துவிட்டார்; ஆயத்தமாயிருந்தவர்கள் அவரோடேகூடக் கலியாணவீட்டுக்குள் பிரவேசித்தார்கள்; கதவும் அடைக்கப்பட்டது.

And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

பின்பு, மற்றக் கன்னிகைகளும் வந்து: ஆண்டவரே, ஆண்டவரே, எங்களுக்குத் திறக்கவேண்டும் என்றார்கள்.

Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

அதற்கு அவர்: உங்களை அறியேன் என்று, மெய்யாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.

But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

மனுஷகுமாரன் வரும் நாளையாவது நாழிகையையாவது நீங்கள் அறியாதிருக்கிறபடியால் விழித்திருங்கள்.

Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

அன்றியும், பரலோகராஜ்யம் புறத்தேசத்துக்குப் பிரயாணமாய்ப் போகிற ஒரு மனுஷன், தன் ஊழியக்காரரை அழைத்து, தன் ஆஸ்திகளை அவர்கள் வசமாய் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்ததுபோல் இருக்கிறது.

For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

அவனவனுடைய திறமைக்குத்தக்கதாக, ஒருவனிடத்தில் ஐந்து தாலந்தும், ஒருவனிடத்தில் இரண்டு தாலந்தும், ஒருவனிடத்தில் ஒரு தாலந்துமாகக் கொடுத்து, உடனே பிரயாணப்பட்டுப்போனான்.

And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

ஐந்து தாலந்தை வாங்கினவன் போய், அவைகளைக்கொண்டு வியாபாரம்பண்ணி, வேறு ஐந்து தாலந்தைச் சம்பாதித்தான்.

Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.

அப்படியே இரண்டு தாலந்தை வாங்கினவனும், வேறு இரண்டு தாலந்தைச் சம்பாதித்தான்.

And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.

ஒரு தாலந்தை வாங்கினவனோ, போய், நிலத்தைத் தோண்டி, தன் எஜமானுடைய பணத்தைப் புதைத்துவைத்தான்.

But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.

வெகுகாலமானபின்பு அந்த ஊழியக்காரருடைய எஜமான் திரும்பிவந்து, அவர்களிடத்தில் கணக்குக் கேட்டான்.

After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

அப்பொழுது, ஐந்து தாலந்தை வாங்கினவன், வேறு ஐந்து தாலந்தைக் கொண்டுவந்து: ஆண்டவனே, ஐந்து தாலந்தை என்னிடத்தில் ஒப்புவித்தீரே; அவைகளைக்கொண்டு, இதோ, வேறு ஐந்து தாலந்தைச் சம்பாதித்தேன் என்றான்.

And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

அவனுடைய எஜமான் அவனை நோக்கி: நல்லது, உத்தமமும் உண்மையுமுள்ள ஊழியக்காரனே, கொஞ்சத்திலே உண்மையாயிருந்தாய், அநேகத்தின்மேல் உன்னை அதிகாரியாக வைப்பேன், உன் எஜமானுடைய சந்தோஷத்திற்குள் பிரவேசி என்றான்.

His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

இரண்டு தாலந்தை வாங்கினவனும் வந்து: ஆண்டவனே, இரண்டு தாலந்தை என்னிடத்தில் ஒப்புவித்தீரே; அவைகளைக்கொண்டு, இதோ, வேறு இரண்டு தாலந்தைச் சம்பாதித்தேன் என்றான்.

He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

அவனுடைய எஜமான் அவனை நோக்கி: நல்லது, உத்தமமும் உண்மையுமுள்ள ஊழியக்காரனே, கொஞ்சத்திலே உண்மையாயிருந்தாய், அநேகத்தின்மேல் உன்னை அதிகாரியாக வைப்பேன்; உன் எஜமானுடைய சந்தோஷத்திற்குள் பிரவேசி என்றான்.

His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

ஒரு தாலந்தை வாங்கினவன் வந்து: ஆண்டவனே, நீர் விதைக்காத இடத்தில் அறுக்கிறவரும், தெளிக்காத இடத்தில் சேர்க்கிறவருமான கடினமுள்ள மனுஷன் என்று அறிவேன்.

Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

ஆகையால், நான் பயந்து போய், உமது தாலந்தை நிலத்தில் புதைத்து வைத்தேன்; இதோ, உம்முடையதை வாங்கிக்கொள்ளும் என்றான்.

And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

அவனுடைய எஜமான் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: பொல்லாதவனும் சோம்பலுமான ஊழியக்காரனே, நான் விதைக்காத இடத்தில் அறுக்கிறவனென்றும் தெளிக்காத இடத்தில் சேர்க்கிறவனென்றும் அறிந்திருந்தாயே.

His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

அப்படியானால், நீ என் பணத்தைக் காசுக்காரர் வசத்தில் போட்டுவைக்க வேண்டியதாயிருந்தது; அப்பொழுது, நான் வந்து என்னுடையதை வட்டியோடே வாங்கிக்கொள்ளுவேனே, என்று சொல்லி,

Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

அவனிடத்திலிருக்கிற தாலந்தை எடுத்து, பத்துத் தாலந்துள்ளவனுக்குக் கொடுங்கள்.

Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

உள்ளவனெவனோ அவனுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படும், பரிபூரணமும் அடைவான்; இல்லாதவனிடத்திலிருந்து உள்ளதும் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளப்படும்.

For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

பிரயோஜனமற்ற ஊழியக்காரனாகிய இவனைப் புறம்பான இருளிலே தள்ளிப்போடுங்கள்; அங்கே அழுகையும் பற்கடிப்பும் உண்டாயிருக்கும் என்றான்.

And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

அன்றியும் மனுஷகுமாரன் தமது மகிமைபொருந்தினவராய்ச் சகல பரிசுத்த தூதரோடுங்கூட வரும்போது, தமது மகிமையுள்ள சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் வீற்றிருப்பார்.

When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

அப்பொழுது, சகல ஜனங்களும் அவருக்கு முன்பாகச் சேர்க்கப்படுவார்கள். மேய்ப்பனானவன் செம்மறியாடுகளையும் வெள்ளாடுகளையும் வெவ்வேறாகப் பிரிக்கிறதுபோல அவர்களை அவர் பிரித்து,

And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

செம்மறியாடுகளைத் தமது வலதுபக்கத்திலும், வெள்ளாடுகளைத் தமது இடதுபக்கத்திலும் நிறுத்துவார்.

And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

அப்பொழுது, ராஜா தமது வலது பக்கத்தில் நிற்பவர்களைப் பார்த்து: வாருங்கள் என் பிதாவினால் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களே, உலகம் உண்டானது முதல் உங்களுக்காக ஆயத்தம்பண்ணப்பட்டிருக்கிற ராஜ்யத்தைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.

Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

பசியாயிருந்தேன், எனக்குப் போஜனங்கொடுத்தீர்கள்; தாகமாயிருந்தேன், என் தாகத்தைத் தீர்த்தீர்கள்; அந்நியனாயிருந்தேன், என்னைச் சேர்த்துக்கொண்டீர்கள்;

For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

வஸ்திரமில்லாதிருந்தேன், எனக்கு வஸ்திரங்கொடுத்தீர்கள்; வியாதியாயிருந்தேன், என்னை விசாரிக்க வந்தீர்கள்; காவலிலிருந்தேன், என்னைப் பார்க்கவந்தீர்கள் என்பார்.

Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

அப்பொழுது, நீதிமான்கள் அவருக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: ஆண்டவரே, நாங்கள் எப்பொழுது உம்மைப் பசியுள்ளவராகக் கண்டு உமக்குப் போஜனங்கொடுத்தோம்? எப்பொழுது உம்மைத் தாகமுள்ளவராகக்கண்டு உம்முடைய தாகத்தைத் தீர்த்தோம்?

Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

எப்பொழுது உம்மை அந்நியராகக்கண்டு உம்மைச் சேர்த்துக்கொண்டோம்? எப்பொழுது உம்மை வஸ்திரமில்லாதவராகக் கண்டு உமக்கு வஸ்திரங்கொடுத்தோம்?

When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

எப்பொழுது உம்மை வியாதியுள்ளவராகவும் காவலிலிருக்கிறவராகவும் கண்டு, உம்மிடத்தில் வந்தோம் என்பார்கள்.

Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

அதற்கு ராஜா பிரதியுத்தரமாக: மிகவும் சிறியவராகிய என் சகோதரரான இவர்களில் ஒருவனுக்கு நீங்கள் எதைச் செய்தீர்களோ, அதை எனக்கே செய்தீர்கள் என்று மெய்யாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்பார்.

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

அப்பொழுது, இடதுபக்கத்தில் நிற்பவர்களைப் பார்த்து அவர்: சபிக்கப்பட்டவர்களே, என்னைவிட்டு, பிசாசுக்காகவும், அவன் தூதர்களுக்காகவும் ஆயத்தம்பண்ணப்பட்டிருக்கிற நித்திய அக்கினியிலே போங்கள்.

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

பசியாயிருந்தேன், நீங்கள் எனக்குப் போஜனங்கொடுக்கவில்லை; தாகமாயிருந்தேன், நீங்கள் என் தாகத்தைத் தீர்க்கவில்லை;

For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

அந்நியனாயிருந்தேன், நீங்கள் என்னைச் சேர்த்துக்கொள்ளவில்லை; வஸ்திரமில்லாதிருந்தேன், நீங்கள் எனக்கு வஸ்திரங்கொடுக்கவில்லை; வியாதியுள்ளவனாயும் காவலிலடைக்கப்பட்டவனாயும் இருந்தேன், நீங்கள் என்னை விசாரிக்க வரவில்லையென்பார்.

I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

அப்பொழுது, அவர்களும் அவருக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: ஆண்டவரே, உம்மைப் பசியுள்ளவராகவும், தாகமுள்ளவராகவும், அந்நியராகவும், வஸ்திரமில்லாதவராகவும், வியாதிப்பட்டவராகவும், காவலிடைக்கப்பட்டவராகவும் நாங்கள் எப்பொழுது கண்டு, உமக்கு உதவி செய்யாதிருந்தோம் என்பார்கள்.

Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

அப்பொழுது, அவர் அவர்களுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: மிகவும் சிறியவர்களாகிய இவர்களில் ஒருவனுக்கு நீங்கள் எதைச் செய்யாதிருந்தீர்களோ, அதை எனக்கே செய்யாதிருந்தீர்கள் என்று மெய்யாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்பார்.

Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

அந்தப்படி, இவர்கள் நித்திய ஆக்கினையை அடையவும், நீதிமான்களோ நித்திய ஜீவனை அடையவும் போவார்கள் என்றார்.

And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
