எஸ்றா அத்தியாயம் 9

இவைகள் செய்து முடிந்தபின்பு, பிரபுக்கள் என்னிடத்தில் சேர்ந்து: இஸ்ரவேல் ஜனங்களும், ஆசாரியரும் லேவியரும் ஆகிய இவர்கள், கானானியர், ஏத்தியர், பெரிசியர், எபூசியர், அம்மோனியர், மோவாபியர், எகிப்தியர், அம்மோரியர் என்னும் இந்த தேசங்களின் ஜனங்களுக்கும், அவர்களுடைய அருவருப்புகளுக்கும் விலகியிருக்கவில்லை.

Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.

எப்படியென்றால், அவர்களுடைய குமாரத்திகளிலே தங்களுக்கும் தங்கள் குமாரருக்கும் பெண்களைக் கொண்டார்கள்; இப்படியே பரிசுத்த வித்து தேசங்களின் ஜனங்களோடே கலந்து போயிற்று; பிரபுக்களின் கையும், அதிகாரிகளின் கையும், இந்தக் குற்றத்தில் முந்தினதாயிருக்கிறது என்றார்கள்.

For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass.

இந்த வர்த்தமானத்தை நான் கேட்டபொழுது, என் வஸ்திரத்தையும் என் சால்வையையும் நான் கிழித்து, என் தலையிலும் என் தாடியிலுமுள்ள மயிரைப் பிடுங்கித் திகைத்தவனாய் உட்கார்ந்திருந்தேன்.

And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my mantle, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down astonied.

அப்பொழுது சிறையிருப்பிலிருந்து வந்தவர்களுடைய குற்றத்தினிமித்தம் இஸ்ரவேலுடைய தேவனின் வார்த்தைகளுக்கு நடுங்குகிற யாவரும் என்னோடே கூடிக்கொண்டார்கள்; நானோ அந்திப்பலி செலுத்தப்படுமட்டும் திகைத்தவனாய் உட்கார்ந்துகொண்டிருந்தேன்.

Then were assembled unto me every one that trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the transgression of those that had been carried away; and I sat astonied until the evening sacrifice.

அந்திப்பலி நேரத்திலே நான் துக்கத்தோடே எழுந்து, கிழித்துக்கொண்ட வஸ்திரத்தோடும் சால்வையோடும் முழங்காற்படியிட்டு, என் கைகளை என் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு நேராக விரித்து:

And at the evening sacrifice I arose up from my heaviness; and having rent my garment and my mantle, I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands unto the LORD my God,

என் தேவனே, நான் என் முகத்தை என் தேவனாகிய உமக்கு முன்பாக ஏறெடுக்க வெட்கிக் கலங்குகிறேன்; எங்கள் அக்கிரமங்கள் எங்கள் தலைக்கு மேலாகப் பெருகிற்று; எங்கள் குற்றம் வானபரியந்தம் வளர்ந்துபோயிற்று.

And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens.

எங்கள் பிதாக்களின் நாட்கள்முதல் இந்நாள்மட்டும் நாங்கள் பெரிய குற்றத்துக்கு உள்ளாயிருக்கிறோம்; எங்கள் அக்கிரமங்களினிமித்தம் நாங்களும், எங்கள் ராஜாக்களும், எங்கள் ஆசாரியர்களும், இந்நாளிலிருக்கிறதுபோல, அந்நியதேச ராஜாக்களின் கையிலே, பட்டயத்துக்கும், சிறையிருப்புக்கும், கொள்ளைக்கும், வெட்கத்துக்கும் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்பட்டோம்.

Since the days of our fathers have we been in a great trespass unto this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to a spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is this day.

இப்பொழுதும் எங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் எங்களிலே தப்பின சிலரை மீதியாக வைக்கவும், தம்முடைய பரிசுத்த ஸ்தலத்தில் எங்களுக்கு ஒரு குச்சைக் கொடுக்கவும், இப்படியே எங்கள் தேவன் எங்கள் கண்களைப் பிரகாசிப்பித்து, எங்கள் அடிமைத்தனத்திலே எங்களுக்குக் கொஞ்சம் உயிர் கொடுக்கவும், அவராலே கொஞ்சநேரமாவது கிருபை கிடைத்தது.

And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage.

நாங்கள் அடிமைகளாயிருந்தோம்; ஆனாலும் எங்கள் அடிமைத்தனத்திலே எங்கள் தேவன் எங்களைக் கைவிடாமல், எங்களுக்கு உயிர்கொடுக்கவும்; நாங்கள் எங்கள் தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தை எடுப்பித்து, பாழாய்ப்போன அதைப் புதுப்பிக்கும்படிக்கும் எங்களுக்கு யூதாவிலும் எருசலேமிலும் ஒரு வேலியைக் கட்டளையிடும்படிக்கும், பெர்சியாவின் ராஜாக்கள் சமுகத்தில் எங்களுக்குத் தயைகிடைக்கச் செய்தார்.

For we were bondmen; yet our God hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended mercy unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.

இப்பொழுதும் எங்கள் தேவனே, நாங்கள் இனி என்னசொல்லுவோம்; தேவரீர் உமது ஊழியக்காரராகிய தீர்க்கதரிசிகளைக்கொண்டு கற்பித்த உமது கற்பனைகளை விட்டுவிட்டோம்.

And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? for we have forsaken thy commandments,

நீங்கள் சுதந்தரிக்கிறதற்கு உட்பிரவேசிக்கும் தேசமானது; தேசாதேசங்களுடைய ஜனங்களின் அசங்கியத்தினாலும், அவர்கள் அதை ஒரு முனைதொடங்கி மறுமுனைமட்டும் நிறையப்பண்ணின அவர்களுடைய அருவருப்புகளினாலும் அவர்களுடைய அசுத்தத்தினாலும், தீட்டுப்பட்டதாயிருக்கிறது.

Which thou hast commanded by thy servants the prophets, saying, The land, unto which ye go to possess it, is an unclean land with the filthiness of the people of the lands, with their abominations, which have filled it from one end to another with their uncleanness.

ஆதலால் நீங்கள் பலத்துக்கொண்டு, தேசத்தின் நன்மையைப் புசித்து, அதை நித்தியகாலமாக உங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்கு உம்பிளிக்கையாகப் பின்வைக்கும்படிக்கு, நீங்கள் உங்கள் குமாரத்திகளை அவர்களுடைய குமாரருக்குக் கொடாமலும், அவர்களுடைய குமாரத்திகளை உங்கள் குமாரருக்குக்கொள்ளாமலும், அவர்களுடைய சமாதானத்தையும் நன்மையையும் ஒருக்காலும் நாடாமலும் இருப்பீர்களாக என்றீரே.

Now therefore give not your daughters unto their sons, neither take their daughters unto your sons, nor seek their peace or their wealth for ever: that ye may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children for ever.

இப்பொழுதும் எங்கள் தேவனே, எங்கள் பொல்லாத செய்கைகளினாலும், எங்கள் பெரிய குற்றத்தினாலும், இவைகளெல்லாம் எங்கள்மேல் வந்தும், தேவரீர் எங்கள் அக்கிரமத்துக்குத்தக்க ஆக்கினையை எங்களுக்கு இடாமல், எங்களை இப்படித் தப்பவிட்டிருக்கையில்,

And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and hast given us such deliverance as this;

நாங்கள் உமது கற்பனைகளை வீணாக்கவும், இந்த அருவருப்புகளுள்ள ஜனங்களோடே சம்பந்தங்கலக்கவும் தகுமோ? அப்படிச் செய்தால், எங்களில் ஒருவரும் மீந்து தப்பாதபடிக்கு, தேவரீர் எங்களை நிர்மூலமாக்குமட்டும் எங்கள்மேல் கோபமாயிருப்பீரல்லவோ?

Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping?

இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தாவே, நீர் நீதியுள்ளவர்; ஆகையால் இந்நாளில் இருக்கிறதுபோல, நாங்கள் தப்பி மீந்திருக்கிறோம்; இதோ, நாங்கள் உமக்கு முன்பாகக் குற்றத்திற்குள்ளானவர்கள்; இதினிமித்தம் நாங்கள் உமக்கு முன்பாக நிற்கத்தக்கவர்கள் அல்ல என்று பிரார்த்தித்தேன்.

O LORD God of Israel, thou art righteous: for we remain yet escaped, as it is this day: behold, we are before thee in our trespasses: for we cannot stand before thee because of this.

எஸ்றா அத்தியாயம் 10

எஸ்றா இப்படி விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணி, அறிக்கையிட்டு அழுது, தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்துக்கு முன்பாகத் தாழவிழுந்துகிடக்கையில், இஸ்ரவேலில் புருஷரும் ஸ்திரீகளும் பிள்ளைகளுமான மகா பெரிய சபை அவனிடத்தில் வந்து கூடிற்று; ஜனங்கள் மிகவும் அழுதார்கள்.

Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very sore.

அப்பொழுது ஏலாமின் புத்திரரில் ஒருவனாகிய யெகியேலின் குமாரன் செக்கனியா எஸ்றாவை நோக்கி: நாங்கள் தேசத்து ஜனங்களிலுள்ள அந்நிய ஸ்திரீகளைச் சேர்த்துக்கொண்டதினால், எங்கள் தேவனுக்கு விரோதமாகப் பாவஞ்செய்தோம்; ஆகிலும் இப்பொழுது இந்தக் காரியத்திலே இன்னும் இஸ்ரவேலுக்காக நம்பிக்கை உண்டு.

And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land: yet now there is hope in Israel concerning this thing.

இப்பொழுதும் அந்த ஸ்திரீகள் எல்லாரையும், அவர்களிடத்தில் பிறந்தவர்களையும், என் ஆண்டவனுடைய ஆலோசனைக்கும், நமது தேவனுடைய கற்பனைக்கு நடுங்குகிறவர்களின் ஆலோசனைக்கும் ஏற்றபிரகாரம் அகற்றிப்போடுவோம் என்று நம்முடைய தேவனோடே உடன்படிக்கைப் பண்ணக்கடவோம்; நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின்படியே செய்யப்படுவதாக.

Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.

எழுந்திரும்; இந்தக் காரியத்தை நடப்பிக்கிறது உமக்கு அடுத்தது; நாங்களும் உம்மோடேகூட இருப்போம்; நீர் திடன்கொண்டு இதைச் செய்யும் என்றான்.

Arise; for this matter belongeth unto thee: we also will be with thee: be of good courage, and do it.

அப்பொழுது எஸ்றா எழுந்திருந்து, ஆசாரியரிலும் லேவியரிலும் பிரதானமானவர்களும் இஸ்ரவேல் அனைவரும் இந்த வார்த்தையின்படி செய்யும்படிக்கு, அவர்களை ஆணையிடச்சொன்னான்; அவர்கள் ஆணையிட்டார்கள்.

Then arose Ezra, and made the chief priests, the Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they should do according to this word. And they sware.

அதின்பின்பு எஸ்றா தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்துக்கு முன்னிருந்து எழுந்து, எலியாசிபின் குமாரனாகிய யோகனானின் அறைக்குள் பிரவேசித்தான்; அங்கே வந்தபோது, அவன் சிறையிருப்பிலிருந்து வந்தவர்களுடைய குற்றத்தினிமித்தம் அப்பம் புசியாமலும் தண்ணீர் குடியாமலும் துக்கித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.

Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Johanan the son of Eliashib: and when he came thither, he did eat no bread, nor drink water: for he mourned because of the transgression of them that had been carried away.

அப்பொழுது சிறையிருப்பிலிருந்து வந்தவர்கள் எல்லாரும் எருசலேமிலே வந்து கூடவேண்டும் என்றும்,

And they made proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem unto all the children of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;

மூன்று நாளைக்குள்ளே பிரபுக்கள் மூப்பர்களுடைய ஆலோசனையின்படியே எவனாகிலும் வராதேபோனால், அவனுடைய பொருளெல்லாம் ஜப்தி செய்யப்பட்டு, சிறையிருப்பிலிருந்து வந்த சபைக்கு அவன் புறம்பாக்கப்படுவான் என்றும், யூதாவிலும் எருசலேமிலும் விளம்பரம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

And that whosoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his substance should be forfeited, and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carried away.

அப்படியே யூதா பென்யமீன் கோத்திரத்தார் எல்லாரும் மூன்று நாளைக்குள்ளே எருசலேமிலே கூடினார்கள்; அது ஒன்பதாம் மாதம் இருபதாந்தேதியாயிருந்தது; ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தின் வீதியிலே அந்தக்காரியத்தினாலும் அடைமழையினாலும் நடுங்கிக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month; and all the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of this matter, and for the great rain.

அப்பொழுது ஆசாரியனாகிய எஸ்றா எழுந்திருந்து அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேலிருக்கிற குற்றத்தை அதிகரிக்கப்பண்ண, மறு ஜாதியான ஸ்திரீகளை விவாகம்பண்ணினதினால் பாவஞ்செய்தீர்கள்.

And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Israel.

இப்பொழுதும் நீங்கள் உங்கள் பிதாக்களின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரிடத்தில் அறிக்கையிட்டு, அவருடைய பிரியத்தின்படியே செய்து, தேசத்தின் ஜனங்களையும், மறுஜாதியான ஸ்திரீகளையும் விட்டு விலகுங்கள் என்றான்.

Now therefore make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives.

அப்பொழுது சபையார் யாவரும் மகா சத்தத்தோடே பிரதியுத்தரமாக: ஆம், நீர் சொன்ன வார்த்தைகளின்படியே செய்யவேண்டியதுதான்.

Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said, so must we do.

ஆனாலும் ஜனங்கள் திரளாயிருக்கிறார்கள், இது மாரிகாலமுமாயிருக்கிறது, இங்கே வெளியிலே நிற்க எங்களாலே கூடாது; இது ஒருநாள் இரண்டுநாள் வேலையல்ல; இந்தக் காரியத்திலே கட்டளை மீறினவர்களாகிய நாங்கள் அநேகர்.

But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without, neither is this a work of one day or two: for we are many that have transgressed in this thing.

ஆகையால் இதற்குச் சபையெங்கும் எங்கள் பிரபுக்கள் விசாரிப்புக்காரராக வைக்கப்படவேண்டும்; இந்தக் காரியத்தினிமித்தம் நம்முடைய தேவனுக்கு இருக்கிற உக்கிரகோபம் எங்களை விட்டுத் திரும்பும்படி, எங்கள் பட்டணங்களில் மறுஜாதியான ஸ்திரீகளைக்கொண்ட அனைவரும் ஒவ்வொரு பட்டணத்தின் மூப்பரோடும் நியாயாதிபதிகளோடும் குறித்தகாலங்களில் வரக்கடவர்கள் என்றார்கள்.

Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter be turned from us.

ஆசகேலின் குமாரன் யோனத்தானும், திக்காவின் குமாரன் யக்சியாவும் மாத்திரம் அதை விசாரிக்கும்படிக்கு வைக்கப்பட்டார்கள்; மெசுல்லாமும், சப்பேதா என்னும் லேவியனும் அவர்களுக்கு உதவியாயிருந்தார்கள்.

Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were employed about this matter: and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them.

சிறையிருப்பிலிருந்து வந்தவர்கள் இந்தப்பிரகாரம் செய்தார்கள்; ஆசாரியனாகிய எஸ்றாவும் தங்கள் பிதாக்களுடைய குடும்பத்தின்படியே பேர்பேராக அழைக்கப்பட்ட பிதாவம்சங்களின் தலைவர் அனைவரும், இந்தக் காரியத்தை விசாரிக்கும்படி, பத்தாம் மாதம் முதல் தேதியிலே, தனித்து உட்கார்ந்து,

And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated, and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.

அந்நியஜாதியான ஸ்திரீகளைக்கொண்டவர்கள் எல்லாருடைய காரியத்தையும் முதலாம் மாதம் முதல் தேதியிலே விசாரித்து முடித்தார்கள்.

And they made an end with all the men that had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month.

ஆசாரிய புத்திரரில் மறுஜாதியான மனைவிகளைக் கொண்டவர்களாகக் காணப்பட்டவர்கள் யாரென்றால்: யோசதாக்கின் குமாரனாகிய யெசுவாவின் குமாரரிலும் அவன் சகோதரரிலும், மாசெயா, எலியேசர், யாரீப், கெதலியா என்பவர்கள்.

And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken strange wives: namely, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren; Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah.

இவர்கள் தங்கள் ஸ்திரீகளைத் தள்ளிவிடுவோம் என்று கையடித்துக்கொடுத்து; தாங்கள் குற்றவாளிகளானபடியினால் குற்றநிவாரணபலியாக ஒரு ஆட்டுக்கடாவைச் செலுத்தினார்கள்.

And they gave their hands that they would put away their wives; and being guilty, they offered a ram of the flock for their trespass.

இம்மேரின் புத்திரரில் அனானியும், செபதியாவும்,

And of the sons of Immer; Hanani, and Zebadiah.

ஆரீமின் புத்திரரில் மாசெயா, எலியா, செமாயா, யெகியேல், உசியா என்பவர்களும்;

And of the sons of Harim; Maaseiah, and Elijah, and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.

பஸ்கூரின் புத்திரரில் எலியோனாய், மாசெயா, இஸ்மவேல், நெதனெயேல், யோசபாத், எலாசா என்பவர்களும்;

And of the sons of Pashur; Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethaneel, Jozabad, and Elasah.

லேவியரில் யோசபாத், சிமேயி, கெலிதா என்னும் பேருமுள்ள கெலாயா, பெத்தகீயா, யூதா, எலியேசர் என்பவர்களும்;

Also of the Levites; Jozabad, and Shimei, and Kelaiah, (the same is Kelita,) Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.

பாடகரில் எலியாசியும், வாசல் காவலாளரில் சல்லூம், தேலேம், ஊரி என்பவர்களும்;

Of the singers also; Eliashib: and of the porters; Shallum, and Telem, and Uri.

மற்ற இஸ்ரவேலருக்குள்ளே பாரோஷின் புத்திரரில் ரமீயா, யெசியா, மல்கியா, மியாமின், எலெயாசார், மல்கிஜா, பெனாயா என்பவர்களும்;

Moreover of Israel: of the sons of Parosh; Ramiah, and Jeziah, and Malchiah, and Miamin, and Eleazar, and Malchijah, and Benaiah.

ஏலாமின் புத்திரரில் மத்தனியா, சகரியா, யெகியேல், அப்தி, யெரிமோத், எலியா என்வர்களும்;

And of the sons of Elam; Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Eliah.

சத்தூவின் புத்திரரில் எலியோனாய், எலியாசிப், மத்தனியா, யெரிமோத், சாபாத், அசிசா என்பவர்களும்;

And of the sons of Zattu; Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, and Jeremoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.

பெபாயின் புத்திரரில் யோகனான், அனனியா, சாபாயி, அத்லாயி என்பவர்களும்;

Of the sons also of Bebai; Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, and Athlai.

பானியின் புத்திரரில் மெசுல்லாம், மல்லூக், அதாயா, யாசுப், செயால், ராமோத் என்பவர்களும்,

And of the sons of Bani; Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, and Ramoth.

பாகாத்மோவாபின் புத்திரரில் அத்னா, கெலால், பெனாயா, மாசெயா, மத்தனியா, பெசலெயேல், பின்னூயி, மனாசே என்பவர்களும்;

And of the sons of Pahathmoab; Adna, and Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezaleel, and Binnui, and Manasseh.

ஆரீமின் புத்திரரில் எலியேசர், இஷியா, மல்கியா, செமாயா, ஷிமியோன்,

And of the sons of Harim; Eliezer, Ishijah, Malchiah, Shemaiah, Shimeon,

பென்யமீன், மல்லூக், செமரியா என்பவர்களும்;

Benjamin, Malluch, and Shemariah.

ஆசூமின் புத்திரரில் மத்னாயி, மத்தத்தா, சாபாத், எலிபெலேத், எரெமாயி, மனாசே, சிமெயி என்பவர்களும்;

Of the sons of Hashum; Mattenai, Mattathah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh, and Shimei.

பானியின் புத்திரரில் மாதாயி, அம்ராம், ஊவேல்,

Of the sons of Bani; Maadai, Amram, and Uel,

பெனாயா, பெதியா, கெல்லூ,

Benaiah, Bedeiah, Chelluh,

வனியா, மெரெமோத், எலெயாசீப்,

Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib,

மத்தனியா, மதனாய், யாசாய்,

Mattaniah, Mattenai, and Jaasau,

மக்நாத்பாயி, சாசாயி, சாராயி,

Machnadebai, Shashai, Sharai,

அசரெயேல், செலேமியா, செமரியா,

Azareel, and Shelemiah, Shemariah,

சல்லூம், அமரியா, யோசேப் என்பவர்களும்;

Shallum, Amariah, and Joseph.

நேபோவின் புத்திரரில் ஏயெல், மத்தித்தியா, சாபாத், செபினா, யதாய், யோவேல், பெனாயா என்பவர்களுமே.

Of the sons of Nebo; Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Jadau, and Joel, Benaiah.

இவர்கள் எல்லாரும் மறுஜாதியான ஸ்திரீகளைக் கொண்டவர்கள்; இவர்களில் சிலர் கொண்டிருந்த ஸ்திரீகளிடத்தில் பிள்ளைகளைப் பெற்றிருந்தார்கள்.

All these had taken strange wives: and some of them had wives by whom they had children.

மத்தேயு அத்தியாயம் 14

அக்காலத்தில், காற்பங்கு தேசாதிபதியாகிய ஏரோது இயேசுவின் கீர்த்தியைக் கேள்விப்பட்டு,

At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus,

தன் ஊழியக்காரரை நோக்கி: இவன் யோவான்ஸ்நானன்; இவன் மரித்தோரிலிருந்து எழுந்தான்; ஆகையால், இவனிடத்தில் பலத்த செய்கைகள் விளங்குகிறது என்றான்.

And said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.

ஏரோது தன் சகோதரனாகிய பிலிப்புவின் மனைவி ஏரோதியாளினிமித்தம் யோவானைப் பிடித்துக் கட்டிக் காவலில் வைத்திருந்தான்.

For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife.

ஏனெனில்: நீர் அவளை வைத்துக்கொள்வது நியாயமல்லவென்று யோவான் அவனுக்குச் சொல்லியிருந்தான்.

For John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her.

ஏரோது அவனைக் கொலைசெய்ய மனதாயிருந்தும், ஜனங்கள் அவனைத் தீர்க்கதரிசியென்று எண்ணினபடியால் அவர்களுக்குப் பயந்திருந்தான்.

And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.

அப்படியிருக்க, ஏரோதின் ஜென்மநாள் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறபோது, ஏரோதியாளின் குமாரத்தி அவர்கள் நடுவே நடனம்பண்ணி ஏரோதைச் சந்தோஷப்படுத்தினாள்.

But when Herod's birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.

அதினிமித்தம் அவன்: நீ எதைக்கேட்டாலும் தருவேன் என்று அவளுக்கு ஆணையிட்டு வாக்குக்கொடுத்தான்.

Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask.

அவள் தன் தாயினால் ஏவப்பட்டபடியே: யோவான்ஸ்நானனுடைய தலையை இங்கே ஒரு தாலத்திலே எனக்குத் தாரும் என்று கேட்டாள்.

And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist's head in a charger.

ராஜா துக்கமடைந்தான். ஆகிலும், ஆணையினிமித்தமும், பந்தியில் கூட இருந்தவர்களினிமித்தமும், அதைக் கொடுக்கக்கட்டளையிட்டு,

And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath's sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her.

ஆள் அனுப்பி, காவற்கூடத்திலே யோவானைச் சிரச்சேதம்பண்ணுவித்தான்.

And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison.

அவனுடைய சிரசை ஒரு தாலத்திலே கொண்டுவந்து, சிறு பெண்ணுக்குக் கொடுத்தார்கள்; அவள் அதைத் தன் தாயினிடத்தில் கொண்டுபோனாள்.

And his head was brought in a charger, and given to the damsel: and she brought it to her mother.

அவனுடைய சீஷர்கள் வந்து உடலை எடுத்து அடக்கம்பண்ணி, பின்பு போய் அந்தச் சங்கதியை இயேசுவுக்கு அறிவித்தார்கள்.

And his disciples came, and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.

இயேசு அதைக் கேட்டு, அவ்விடம் விட்டு, படவில் ஏறி, வனாந்தரமான ஓர் இடத்துக்குத் தனியே போனார். ஜனங்கள் அதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டு, பட்டணங்களிலிருந்து கால்நடையாய் அவரிடத்திற்குப் போனார்கள்.

When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities.

இயேசு வந்து, திரளான ஜனங்களைக் கண்டு, அவர்கள்மேல் மனதுருகி, அவர்களில் வியாதியஸ்தர்களாயிருந்தவர்களைச் சொஸ்தமாக்கினார்.

And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

சாயங்காலமானபோது, அவருடைய சீஷர்கள் அவரிடத்தில் வந்து: இது வனாந்தரமான இடம், நேரமுமாயிற்று; ஜனங்கள் கிராமங்களுக்குப்போய்த் தங்களுக்கு போஜனபதார்த்தங்களைக்கொள்ளும்படி அவர்களை அனுப்பிவிடவேண்டும் என்றார்கள்.

And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.

இயேசு அவர்களை நோக்கி: அவர்கள் போகவேண்டுவதில்லை; நீங்களே அவர்களுக்குப் போஜனங்கொடுங்கள் என்றார்.

But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.

அதற்கு அவர்கள்: இங்கே எங்களிடத்தில் ஐந்து அப்பமும் இரண்டு மீன்களுமேயல்லாமல், வேறொன்றும் இல்லை என்றார்கள்.

And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

அவைகளை என்னிடத்தில் கொண்டுவாருங்கள் என்றார்.

He said, Bring them hither to me.

அப்பொழுது, அவர் ஜனங்களைப் புல்லின்மேல் பந்தியிருக்கக் கட்டளையிட்டு, அந்த ஐந்து அப்பங்களையும், அந்த இரண்டு மீன்களையும் எடுத்து, வானத்தை அண்ணாந்துபார்த்து, ஆசீர்வதித்து, அப்பங்களைப் பிட்டுச் சீஷர்களிடத்தில் கொடுத்தார்; சீஷர்கள் ஜனங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்தார்கள்.

And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

எல்லாரும் சாப்பிட்டுத் திருப்தியடைந்தார்கள்; மீதியான துணிக்கைகளைப் பன்னிரண்டு கூடைநிறைய எடுத்தார்கள்.

And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.

ஸ்திரீகளும் பிள்ளைகளும் தவிர, சாப்பிட்ட புருஷர்கள் ஏறக்குறைய ஐயாயிரம்பேராயிருந்தார்கள்.

And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.

இயேசு ஜனங்களை அனுப்பிவிடுகையில், தம்முடைய சீஷர்கள் படவில் ஏறி, தமக்கு முன்னே அக்கரைக்குப் போகும்படி அவர்களைத் துரிதப்படுத்தினார்.

And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

அவர் ஜனங்களை அனுப்பிவிட்டபின்பு, தனித்து ஜெபம்பண்ண ஒரு மலையின்மேல் ஏறி, சாயங்காலமானபோது அங்கே தனிமையாயிருந்தார்.

And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

அதற்குள்ளாகப் படவு நடுக்கடலிலே சேர்ந்து, எதிர்க்காற்றாயிருந்தபடியால் அலைகளினால் அலைவுபட்டது.

But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.

இரவின் நாலாம் ஜாமத்திலே, இயேசு கடலின்மேல் நடந்து, அவர்களிடத்திற்கு வந்தார்.

And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

அவர் கடலின்மேல் நடக்கிறதைச் சீஷர்கள் கண்டு, கலக்கமடைந்து, ஆவேசம் என்று சொல்லி, பயத்தினால் அலறினார்கள்.

And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

உடனே இயேசு அவர்களோடே பேசி: திடன்கொள்ளுங்கள், நான்தான், பயப்படாதிருங்கள் என்றார்.

But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

பேதுரு அவரை நோக்கி: ஆண்டவரே! நீரேயானால் நான் ஜலத்தின்மேல் நடந்து உம்மிடத்தில் வரக் கட்டளையிடும் என்றான்.

And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

அதற்கு அவர்: வா என்றார். அப்பொழுது, பேதுரு படவை விட்டிறங்கி, இயேசுவினிடத்தில் போக ஜலத்தின்மேல் நடந்தான்.

And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

காற்று பலமாயிருக்கிறதைக் கண்டு, பயந்து, அமிழ்ந்துபோகையில்: ஆண்டவரே, என்னை இரட்சியும் என்று கூப்பிட்டான்.

But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

உடனே இயேசு கையை நீட்டி அவனைப் பிடித்து: அற்பவிசுவாசியே, ஏன் சந்தேகப்பட்டாய் என்றார்.

And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

அவர்கள் படவில் ஏறினவுடனே காற்று அமர்ந்தது.

And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.

அப்பொழுது, படவில் உள்ளவர்கள் வந்து: மெய்யாகவே நீர் தேவனுடைய குமாரன் என்று சொல்லி, அவரைப் பணிந்துகொண்டார்கள்.

Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

பின்பு, அவர்கள் கடலைக் கடந்து, கெனேசரேத்து நாட்டில் சேர்ந்தார்கள்.

And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret.

அவ்விடத்து மனுஷர் அவரை இன்னார் என்று அறிந்து, சுற்றுப்புறமெங்கும் செய்தி அனுப்பி, பிணியாளிகளெல்லாரையும் அவரிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்து,

And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased;

அவருடைய வஸ்திரத்தின் ஓரத்தையாகிலும் அவர்கள் தொடும்படி உத்தரவாகவேண்டுமென்று அவரை வேண்டிக்கொண்டார்கள்; தொட்ட யாவரும் சொஸ்தமானார்கள்.

And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.
